The pimento cheese fries are gross. They use mexican queso which is not even CLOSE to pimento cheese. False advertising and not worth the money. Only good part is the ambiance and fish tank.

I never thought there was a lot in Columbia of South Carolina, but let me tell you I walked into this place and thought I was at a houstonAtlantavegas lounge. Very sexy atmosphere from the waterfall, to the blue lighting, to the live music. The female bartenders here are gorgeous. The food is amazing. I think I ordered the crab cakes twice, they were that good. I also came back at a later time during my stay and got the crab legs. It's weird that I would break down crab legs in a place like this, but when in Rome.... The drinks are great as well. Probably the best I ever had. Do not go with the cheap penny drinks. Yes, they have alcoholic beverages for a penny. Go for the $5-10 mojitos, and you won't be disappointed. I promise! It's a spot that's hard to find, but once you do it's amazing. They actually have an outside patio area with a large screen, speakers, and seating, but when we went it wasn't available.

Get ready folks...... Such a disappointment. From the outside and cool name you would think this bar would be to higher standards but sadly it isn't. I'll start by saying that our waiter was very good. He was polite and tentative to our table which sat me and 6 other Army wife women, which is a tough crowd but also a great opportunity to make bank as a waiter. I don't think our drinks taking for-ev-errrr to come out, with it being a foot away from our table and not being busy, is his fault. It was the bartenders, who thought it more interesting to stare at walls than mix a drink. Maybe that's why I had to have 5 in order to enjoy the alcohol. I only drink ONE drink when I go out. And that's Rum&Coke. I know exactly how much Rum goes into it and exactly how much doesn't. I felt completely stiffed. One of the girls meals took over 25 minutes to come out. She ended up canceling the order altogether. Let's touch on the environment side of it. The floors look unfinished and dirty. And what is up with the 90's fish tank? Although this place has great potential as a hidden gem (literally hidden bc it's so hard to find), it's owner or manager, whomever the waiter pointed out to us, isn't too bothered by it. He was enjoying a great conversation with a pal...in a booth...6 feet away, ignorant to our dissatisfaction or annoyance. They had good music, I will give them that. The End. *sigh*

Came here for dinner while visiting friends in SC. We all tried different things and most were tasty. It's a tapas bar so I wouldn't go here expecting to get full. But it seems like a nice after work bar. It turns into a club after about 12. Our waiter was awesome, he had only been working there for a week but knew the menu and was very good. I would go back to try other dishes and drinks. The atmosphere is chic and modern the outside seating area is sexy & romantic. Tasted: Fried green tomatoes (good) Shrimp skewer (mediocre) Crab cakes ( delicious) Spinach dip (good) Angus sliders (good) Shrimp Alfredo (mediocre) I recommend going here, even if just once.

I would give this bar ZERO stars if it was an option, any way me and my friends were out celebrating our schools homecoming and my friends phone was stolen by the bouncers, which we had to track, locate at his job over 45mins away in blythewod, while intoxicated they manhandled us women, the whole scene is simply RATCHET dont come here spend your money ANYWHERE but here !!!!

We came to Blue by the most random of circumstances. My dad, stepmom, boyfriend and I went to a show earlier in the evening and we were looking for a place to grab some dinner. My stepmom surprisingly had a coupon for Blue which was in a coupon book sold to her as a high school fundraiser. Turns out, the coupon was invalid, and the manager of the restaurant said the coupons had been printed without their consent. The good news? They completely honored the deal and we enjoyed two filet mignons and some tasty appetizers for a very, very low price. The atmosphere was sparse when we first arrived, but began to fill up quite quickly. The only bad thing was that the DJ started playing R&B/rap music as we were trying to enjoy a nice dinner with the parents. Made for some awkwardness as my parents actually listened to the lyrics... All in all, I'm happy about the coupon misfortune because I probably wouldn't have stopped in otherwise. I'm very impressed that the manager honored invalid coupons, and I'd be happy to reward them with future visits. Disclosure: I've never gone out here for happy hour or actually "going out" - so I can't comment on the bar scene/aspect of Blue.

I came to Blue on a Friday night during USC homecoming weekend. Fast entry, drinks flowing... But the DJ... the DJ... He needs to get up to date on music and what make the group dance... ugh... mood killer

Both times I have visited here I've been pleased--always during their happy hour. I would never go and pay full price for the tapas or drinks but during happy hour it's all half price and a great deal! They have a steak au poivre plate that is very tasty and I liked my crab cakes very much also. I like their many drinks and can have a few drinks and plates of food for so cheap! I've always had good service as well. I'll definitely be going back---although probably only during happy hour.

We've been to Blue Tapas Bar several times. Last night, Saturday, we walked in and right away were aware of a somewhat stale odor. Unsure what it was, thought maybe it was coming from the fish tanks or water fountains. Not that big of a deal. We have always really enjoyed the food, especially the fried green tomatoes. We thought they were the best in town. Last night we had a date night and grabbed a bite to eat before seeing Les Miserables, and were both very disappointed. We were early, about 6 pm and were the only table in the place the entire time we were there, about an hour, and service was less than attentive. The place was crawling with staff, who were all busy readying the bar. To give the server some credit, she admitted that she was new. The fried green tomatoes were thickly sliced and were under-cooked. The times we've had them before, they were thinly sliced, which may have accounted for them being under-cooked. They were very very firm. Last night's serving was five half slices. Previously, a serving was five full slices. Crab cakes were great, followed by angus sliders which were also good. Nothing outstanding or wrong, although roughly $9 for two tiny sliders seemed steep. We each had dirty martinis, neither of which was cold. The glass was not chilled, nor were they shaken with ice. They simply mixed it at room temp and served with regular small green olive, rather than the standard large martini olives. Finally, I asked the hostess if she knew how long it usually takes for a cab to arrive, and she said it usually only takes 5 minutes, then proceeded to write down three cab phone numbers for me to call myself. I didn't ask, but expected that they would offer to call on my behalf. For the prices, I expected more consistency and for everyone to be on their game. It's not a fast food joint.

I made my way to Blue Tapas Bar & Cocktail Lounge to take part in their all-you-can-eat crab legs special. For $19.95 you get all the crab legs you can stomach and is truly a great deal. The crab legs were all served nice and fresh with ample butter. You also get a side of fries and 2 hush puppies when you order the crab special. In addition to the crab, I also recommend their Sweet Tea Mojito! This drink was SO good. For those that like mojitos, you know that a place can either get it right or fail miserably. I'm happy to say that Blue is one of the places in Columbia that gets this drink perfectly. The drawback to giving this place 5 stars is the location is nearly impossible to find. You're safe parking in the lot behind M Vista because Blue is tucked between M Vista and Wild Wing Cafe. I also have to give lower marks because they ran out of serving forks for the crab. Yes, it was an all-you-can-eat crab night but the place was hardly packed so not having utensils was unacceptable. They run their crab promotion Tuesday and Saturday nights from 5p-9p. I've also heard they have a great happy hour Mon-Fri 5p-7p with half off all drinks and appetizers. I'll definitely be returning here.

What a perfect name for the restaurant - because it is exactly how you will feel when you leave. Huge disappointment! Where do I start: 1. Place is made up of plywood and black paint-ratchet! 2. Half the people were falling down drunk - no really- a drunk lady actually fell into the table next to us-hilarious. 3. Order a margarita which was made of OJ and tequila - strong but not good. 4. Mojito Peach Mash was good! 5. The veggie plate was boiled in oil - even the zombie waitress even said it was disgusting. 6. The Zombies forgot to bring utensils and napkins. 7. The cheese fries were good-handmade. 8. The floor looked like the inside of the Jiffy Lube. 9. Menus were stained with drink and crossed out items no longer available (with ink pen) 10. The dj was whoever got to the Ipad first and played what came into their head. Overall - place is pretty bad. Most people left half their food on the tables and all their appetites. We had coupons but threw them away along with our money for this visit.

Take a walk on the blue side... I think Blue is more of a bar than a restaurant?? I like the dark atmosphere, the low music, the blue lights, and the waterfalls are cool! We went early in the evening and it wasn't real crowded. However, I've heard it does get pretty busy. We didn't get any food- but there was a guy sitting at the bar close to us partaking in the "all you can eat " crab dinner- they did look good! The waitress was continually bringing more and more- they sure weren't being stingy with the food...Hmm.. maybe it is more than just a bar? You decide... It's tucked away behind other buildings so it's a little hard to get to, there is parking behind the building.

I recently went here for happy hour on Friday with friends. The food and drinks were ok, but the thing that bothered me the most was the service. We entered the restaurant at about 5pm with barely anyone in the restaurant. We sat, drank, and talked for more than an hour and it was at that point informed by our waiter that his manager noted that I didn't fit the dress code due to my tank top and he wanted to know if I have another shirt in my car that I could put on. I replied no and the waiter said no problem and walked off from the table. My two female friends that I was with both said they had never had that experience before when visiting Blue nor were they ever aware of a dress code. We proceeded to continue drinking when I was approached by another young man who introduced himself as the manager. He then proceeded to attempt at handing me a promotional t-shirt, asking me to put it on as I didn't fit the dress code. I told him he could keep the promotional shirt and to bring our checks. You don't allow someone to proceed past several hostesses, be seated, waited on, patronize your business for more than an hour and then ask them to change their shirt. Completely unprofessional and I won't ever be back nor would I recommend anyone else to go to this business.

My first time going to a club in South Carolina, and this place was popping. Diverse crowd, good dj, and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves. The best part of the night was when I got the bill, and it was $28. I had a smile from ear to ear. In any major city, the bill would have been 3x that amount. Good times for sure.

This place is basically a gimmick. They have a variety of tapas but the quality is pretty low. Empanadas are greasy, portions are small even for tapas, and the service was so bad it was funny. The hostess showed up with food we didn't order multiple times asking us if we had it and we then saw her try to foist it on several other tables before finding the rightful owners. I didn't realize that giving tables numbers and informing the servers of it was complex technology. The server disappeared for huge stretches of time and was distracted when she was at the table. She would take an order and then return 5 minutes later saying she forgot what we ordered. The bartender had never heard of a Sidecar and thus couldn't make one. Really? I stuck with gin and tonic as their "signature" cocktails all appeared to be variations on fake mojitos and martinis based around various flavored vodkas. The worst part was when the server presented the bill and took our card plus a coupon as payment. She stayed away for at least 10 minutes after we had mentioned we were in a hurry. When she returned, she had charged us 3 times as much as the bill we were presented without our authorization because she said that the coupon negated the happy hour pricing. She went out of her way to say that if we had told her we had it, she would have let us know. I said that I had notified her of the coupon directly after she told us about the happy hour special and she just said it was fine and she would take it when we were done. When I reminded her of this she just said she was sorry and forgot to mention that we couldn't use the coupon with happy hour. We were in too much of a hurry to argue over it. There are so many better places in Columbia for drinks and appetizers. If you like overly sweet "martinis" that you can put down on a piece of ice, then have a ball at blue. If you want decent cocktails, good food, and acceptable service, go somewhere else.

I came here on a recommendation for happy hour. It runs until 7, and the specials are 1/2 off all tapas and beer and wine. I had a ball with that, ordering several tapas dishes and some very good wine. My bill was under $20. The food was good, not amazing by any means, but better than a lot of other places. It's a great place to unwind after work for cheap.

I was pretty disappointed in the food and service here. The reviews for this place were outstanding so I thought it would be a great place to take a friend. It turns out it was an extreme embarrassment. It started when we entered to be seated. We requested a booth which was denied because there were "none available" however two could be seen in plain view from the entrance. I asked someone else and they had us seated there within 5 minutes. When we finally were seated we were only given one menu and the poor lighting in the dining area makes it extremely difficult to see a menu right in front of your face let alone if you're sharing it with another person from across their worn out poorly finished tables. I love being able to see painted 1/4 inch plywood when I'm out for a nice dinner! Eventually, since our waiter disappeared, I got up and asked for another menu at the front and was informed that they were "almost out" of menus. Come on people this place wasn't even filled to 50 percent of its capacity during happy hour! The server was hit or miss and it took 2 separate requests to simply obtain a drink menu. So by this point I've established that the service is incompetent at best. Maybe the food will be good though right? It was mediocre at best and seems as if it was prepared a few hours ago. The utensils had food crusted on them and since our waiter is also a disappearing magician we just ended up sharing the one set that was clean. He magically reappeared after we finished our luke warm food and I couldn't' wait to get the check. I'd have been more proud to take someone out to Waffle house than this place. At least the food would be reasonably priced and hot not to mention your server can only disappear to a very limited amount of places.

Nice place. Great music. I've only been there 2 or 3 times, on weekend nights and have had a good time whenever I went.
