I've been wanting to eat at Ms Rose's for some time now so when my friend suggested we try it out, I readily agreed! I love the way the exterior and interior look. Very visually appealing. The wall decor created out of old dishes and silverware is awesome!!! Seriously makes me want to create a smaller scale version in my kitchen. Our waitress was attentive without being annoying. Did an excellent job at making sure we had everything we needed, was friendly and the type of server I always appreciate. Does an excellent job while never being too front and center of a meal. We ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They were delicious! Not too thickly sliced, the breading was the perfect ratio to the tomato and sooooo crunchy good. I literally had to sniff the fried green tomato because the aroma was so inviting. Super awkward, who does that?!? But truthfully I didn't even think, I just did and man it tasted as good as it smelled. Only now that I'm remembering doing that do I realize how awkward that was haha! My friend ordered the single burger with cheddar and she said it was messy but VERY good. It looked YUM so I'm planning to try the burger next time. I picked the Cuban and it was excellent. Finished lunch about an hour ago and I'm seriously considering eating the other half of the Cuban I took "to go"! We both ordered fries as a side and I loved them. Perfectly salty with the skin still on... just how I like 'em. I won a bet and lunch was the prize so I have no idea how much it costs but the portions were plentiful. I absolutely intend to return as it was a fantastic experience all around.

Pretty bad place. Got their rib sandwich and was disappointed tasted awful. Only good thing about this place is the decor.

Amazing brunch! The cheese grits are the best I've ever had. The fried potatoes are pretty good but there is a lot so you can share. we also had the corn which was good, but not a must have like the grits. We ordered the salmon Benedict and the French toast. Yum!

Both times I came here my meal was perfectly what I wanted. Once for my birthday during restaurant week and another I ordered fish and chips. Great service both times, large portions, delicious cocktails and interesting decor that kept my eyes busy. Location is close to both 26 and where I live so easy to meet friends here before going downtown. I'm sure I'll be back!

Fried green tomatoes- good, burgers- gigantic (see pic), fried chicken- mouth watering, brunch- good. They have a great gnocchi and they do a chicken (not only the fried) that is mouth watering.

Very nice decorations and tge staff was nice but our food was cold and the portions were small for the price. Also we started off with biscuits that were cool and hard but the wings were great. Overall its not a bad resturant but not a place you must visit.

I've been wanting to try Ms. Rose's for some time now and my boyfriend and I finally made it here!! It's in an interesting location as it can be a little hard to turn coming from West Ashley. You can take Gamecock Ave from Orange Grove and go the back way, much easier instead of trying to get across three busy lanes! They have a huge parking lot! That's probably because they can seat a lot of customers. I didn't realize how big Ms. Rose's was! I love the way the restaurant looks on the inside and out! All of the employees we came into contact with were very friendly. We sat at the bar and had a few apps and beers then ordered dinner to go. We had the Jamaican Meat Pie, Pulled Pork Sliders-happy hour, and Smoked Salmon. I loved the Jamaican Meat Pie, will definitely order it again. I'd say the Smoked Salmon was my favorite! How did they cut the toasted brioche so perfect!? It was delicious! To go my bf ordered the Brisket Sandwich with Sweet Vendor Corn-that corn was the best! I ordered Ricotta Gnocchi and it was pretty good. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back for brunch!!

I haven't had a single bad piece of food from Ms. Roses, and I dine there about once a week. The ambiance is awesome. Tons of attention to detail, style, and fascinating architectural choices like slatted wood and angled projectors. It feels almost Scandinavian. There is a cool mural in the back comprised of all the old dishware and silverware. Check it out! The best thing I've had there is the Meatloaf Sandwich with a side of Street Vendor Corn. You won't be disappointed.

Ms. Roses's is SO SO GOOD! I was visiting SC for a week and came here twice for dinner. The decor is beautifully unique, the service was great, and the food and drinks are awesome. Boyfriend loved the meatloaf sandwich. The fried green tomatoes are good, fried chicken is excellent and I'd fly back just for that mac and cheese! I'll be back in SC in October and I'm definitely planning to stop by Ms. Rose's!

What a GEM in west Ashley. Have you not gone there, go now. It's as good as any downtown Restaurant . Place is A-1. Food is fantastic. Service is 2nd to none. Went there tonight with wife daughter, and 2 small grandchildren. They treated us like Kings, especially Brian. He took care of my grandchildren like they were his. Great job. Frank G

I like that it's easy to park and get a seat in this place and and their drink list and service was solid. I hate to review Ms. Rose's food, as we only tried their half price burgers and after frequenting Burwell's for happy hour, these burgers don't stand a chance. I intend to give this place another shot at some point and if I ever don't want to hassle with downtown parking and really want a cider, I'd head here. If I want a great cheap burger though, I'm heading to Burwell's happy hour, this one doesn't even come close.

This place has a super cool atmosphere. Order a specialty mixed drink or local beer, they are devine. Some of the best shrimp and grits I've ever tasted. Atmosphere is definitely the coolest thing, but the chefs and bartenders hold their own.

  • Christine B.

We come here a lot. Like, too much. You can't really beat half price burgers and 3 dollar drafts on Mondays. The food is always good (with the exception of one time it was almost inedible - and it was something I frequently get so I chalk it up to a fluke). the pain killer is literally not only the best pain killer ever but possibly the best drink I've ever had. Delicious. I will say, however, that the food isn't exceptional (and no one wears gloves that I can see, ugh) For some reason it was better when they first opened. We still will continue to frequent though, we like the bartenders :)

LOOOOVE IT! My new favorit eplace for brunch!!!!!!! Great bloody marys, shrimp and grits, and my absolute favorite STEAK and EGGS!!!!!!!!!! We drive from Summerville for Sunday brunch at least twice a month. Nice outdoor seating as well if you have small kids who cant sit still like we do.

I went here last night and the food and service was great! The place is chilled and laid back, so if you wanna go somewhere on a Friday night where you won't have to wait, this is it! We shared food and had the shrimp and grits and the fish and chips! Both were amazing and I can't wait to go back and try the meatloaf sandwich!

Completely unique place. Love taking out of town guests as the food is good, and the decor is fresh and unique. Also, my company has a monthly seminar for 20 people in their back room. We request Jen M. to be our server she's great, and Bruce the manager is quick to respond to emails and phone calls. Love this place. Sunday brunch is also amazingly good.

One of my favorite spots in West Ashley! Great southern food and local beer options. If you haven't tried it yet you are missing out.

My mom found this on open table...kind of off the path of the more popular areas...glad she did! Our waiter Eric gave us good recs. We started with a mimosa...generous with the champagne. We took his recs for food. My mom had biscuits and gravy. I had smoked salmon Benedict with cheese grits. All were very tasty. The decor was also very cool...not at all what I expected from the outside. Absolutely would go back!

We had the fried chicken and bacon Benedict. Fried chicken came piping hot, totally burned my fingers eating it. Comes standard with a side of your choice and a biscuit. Coleslaw portion was generous and tasty, biscuit was soft, fluffy and layered. I devoured my plate of food. Boyfriend had the bacon Benedict, it came out completely cold and our waitress took it away no questions asked. His replacement plate came very quickly. It was hot like it was supposed to be. We both got the painkiller cocktail - pineapple coconut rum and nutmeg - really good and smooth I highly recommend it.

First visit: Fantastic service and food was delish. Inexpensive to boot. 4 star visit. Second visit: Pretty slow service, waitress forgot stuff, plates came out missing items (no eggs on top of the corned beef hash, fail) and the gravy was not consistent with my first visit. 2 star visit. I like this place, and more than that, I WANT to like this place. Especially after all the time and effort they put in to making the place look ballin' fantastic, is it so much that all I want is consistency?? Despite the off visit for me, I still adore it and can't wait to head back for more. And PLEASE check out the back wall art made from serving utensils. It is mind bogging-ly creative. I could not look away. Love.

If you are looking for some southern goodness in your life that's not downtown, this is it. It's super casual, good for groups and even kids. The decor contains a wall of items from the previous restaurant occupant which is pretty cool. Food is delicious, although not too many fish or veggie options for the non meat lovers hence the 4 stars. Fish sandwich a was yummy, others at the table got brisket and meatloaf which they raved about. But, save room for desert! Huge portions of deliciousness!

We have been here two times now. Once for drinks and appetizers and tonight for dinner. We got the fried green tomatoes and rice cakes both times. Tonight we got the fried chicken sandwich, fish and chips, and the Reuben and everything was outstanding. I don't have one thing I can complain about. The blonde bartender was our server and he was spot on as well. Everything was great. We live down the street and will definitely be coming back soon. Highly recommend for anyone visiting from out of town. Food was just delicious!

I went here last night with a couple friends; we were looking for somewhere new to try out, and we were very pleased with our decision. The beer menu is pretty good, and I was able to take advantage of it with a beer flight. In terms of appetizers, I went for their Jamaican meat pie, and one friend opted for the jerk wings. I found my option manageable and delicious, and I kind of wish I had had a chance to try his wings, which looked substantial and flavorful. Two of us ended up getting their steak, with my last friend opting for a burger with fries. The steak was excellent - cooked, then sliced up to show off the quality of meat inside. As a side, I went with their sautéed kale, which was utterly superb. As it stands, I've experienced the fine food, so maybe next time I visit, I'll get a chance to try the cocktails!

I could take the Original Ms. Rose's in multiple doses. Found myself in West Ashley today right around lunch time. I had been wanting to see what all the fuss was about Ms. Rose's. I though "looks to me like they put up a cool fence around a prefab building or something. Then I actually walked inside. The decor is super slated, just like outside. I really enjoyed the unique design in here and the art installation on the back wall... Unreal! The creation was formed from old remnants of the last restaurant establishment that once occupied that same location. Instead of dumping everything into a landfill, they re-purposed the items as art on the wall. In a mosaic style, cups, plates, parts of chairs, fans, silverware, saucers, and even salt shakers with salt still in them make up a giant masterpiece commanding the attention of the back dining room (See Photo). On to the meal. I try not to start drinking so early but, it's Friday and how could you turn down this beer list. My waitress didn't know what some of the seasonal's were at the moment because they had recently been changed. She came back to inform me and mentioned that the Lagunitas Seasonal was "Lagunitas Sucks". Obviously I went with that... delicious. The menu offers entree's and sandwiches and a handful of different sides, salads, and snacks. The Jalapeno Cheddar Cracklin's were fresh warm pork rinds with a spicy/cheesy seasoning. I enjoyed them but nothing to go crazy over. For lunch I had the Sausage Dog. Bratwurst served on a Pretzel roll with grilled onions, pickles, and mustard. A perfect lunch portion and flavor for days. I had fry's for my side which were particularly tasty. What really drove them home was the house made ketchup. Easily the best house made ketchup I have had to date. My friend got a Grilled Fish Sandwich with the Street Vendor Corn. She asked what the fish was and the waitress let her know that it was salmon for grilled or Mahi for fried. My friend wanted grilled but isn't a huge salmon fan. The waitress said once they finish the salmon they were switching to flounder for the grilled sandwich and said she would check if my friend could have the flounder now. The kitchen accommodated with no hesitation and I admire the waitress for being so forthcoming with that information and trying her best to please the customer. The fish was great but the side of corn was heaven on a cob. It was done on the grill with an Anejo spread and cheese sprinkled on top... I had a bite and definitely had a case of food envy. We both thoroughly enjoyed out lunches and at a pretty reasonable price. I might have to make Ms. Rose a Mrs is she keeps this up.

The food is good. Was here for brunch and it was somewhat of a letdown. Little pricey for the amount of food you get. And if you want something altered or different then what is on the menu you are out of luck. All in all would not give them more then 3 stars for the over all brunch.

It's official: I have a girl crush on Ms. Rose & her delicious cocktails! A friend & I were looking for a spot to grab some drinks & snacks in West Ashley, & we literally stumbled onto this location. I could not be happier! We went during restaurant week (2 for $30), & while we stuck to the regular menu, they seemed to have some of their most popular & delicious items up for selection! Their fried green tomatoes & smoked salmon apps were all tasty, & don't get me started on the mouth watering biscuit I ordered on a whim... I wanted to steal the homemade raspberry jam that came with it. Most importantly, this place had awesome cocktails! I have a sweet tooth, so the Charleston Chai, with all of its cinnamon goodness, was a home run for me! My friend ordered the Beetnik & that was pretty stellar, too. (I let the mention of beets scare me away from it, but I was wrong.) With so many other items on the menu that I'm dying to try & great service, there's no question that I'll be back again. This is definitely a hidden gem in West Ashley!

I just tore up one of the best burgers I've ever ordered. The Carolina burger is AMAZING. Super thick patty, great bun, awesome pimento cheese. That slab bacon is ridiculous though. I'm going to be thinking about the bacon for a long time. It was the best bacon I've gotten on a burger, ever. The fries... They looked great but tasted soggy and old. I got the burger to go so that definitely could have effected them. I've gotten plenty of to go fries before and they were able to stay crispy. I will be back, soon, to get another burger. Maybe next time I'll skip the fries and get a side salad.

You can't miss the burgers at Ms. Rose's! They are delicious!! We go on Monday nights when they have half priced burgers and $3/$4 craft beers. They are cooked to perfection and are nice & juicy. The fries are pretty good and the onion rings are delicious. The mac & cheese was just okay. I was expecting to be blown away by it since I had to pay extra to have it as a side and the reviews said that it was the best. I wasn't really impressed. The staff was attentive and so friendly!

The fried chicken was crisp and large portioned. Mac and cheese was creamy with crunchy top. Brisket was melt in your mouth with a vinegar sauce, great collards, and fun atmosphere!

We ate here on Saturday evening and I was sad to see how empty the place was. I had the gnocchi entree and it was excellent. Large portion, all made in house with fresh artichokes & mepkin abbey oysters! The side salad left something to be desired mainly due to store bought croutons and lackluster dressing. My husband loved his burger and we liked the beers on tap. Will definitely be back! Management and service were great!

What a disappointment this place was. I made reservations for a group of friends and family to celebrate my mom's birthday here. Based on the reviews I thought it would be a good time with some good food and drinks. We started off the night well with some soft pretzel and cracklin' appetizers for the table. The pretzels were the highlight of the meal. The cracklin's were actually pork rinds, not the smaller pork cracklin's I was used to. They were supposed to be jalapeno flavored but there wasn't much spice to them. The cocktails ordered were enjoyed around the table. Once everyone arrived and we all ordered, it was about 20 minutes until the individual appetizers of jamaican meat pie and chicken soup were brought out. The soup was salty and the meat pie's were sub-par and small. They should have called them pierogies. From there we waited about another 40 minutes until our dinner came out. Some side dishes were forgotten and one order was just plain wrong. The food came out all at different times with at least a 5 minute lapse from the first to the last entree. We all shared our food so we could get a taste of several things. My chicken biscuit sandwich with fries was considered to be one of the top contenders, though the biscuit was falling apart. The chicken was okay but lacked any kind of seasoning or flavor. The taste of the biscuit was nice as were the pickles. The vegetarian pasta was found to be incredibly salty and my sister only ate half of hers. My mom's steak was also flavorless. It did come with a black garlic sauce on the side, though I didn't get a chance to sample it. The meatloaf was dry and the entire edges were charred and hard. The meatloaf sandwich was tasty but extremely messy and started to fall apart. From there we seriously debated on whether to stay for dessert or just to leave and go somewhere else. Once we heard what the dessert options were, they sounded interesting enough that we wanted to appease our curiosity. On hindsight, I wish we had left. Once the waitress finally came back to take our order it was another 40 minute wait to get our 4 desserts. The peanut butter banana pie was just not very good at all. There was hardly any peanut butter flavor and the texture was unpleasant. The carrot cake was very different from the norm, but not in a good way. Most found it unpleasant as well. The cherry Cheerwine and chocolate dessert was bland. It was as if they were trying to be very creative on some traditional favorites, but they failed miserably. Our dinner took over three hours but most of that time was spent waiting for food, with maybe only an hour of that time spent actually eating. When we asked for water it sometimes took 20 minutes for our waitress to make it back to our table. It was Saturday night but the place was NOT packed to the gills and was mostly empty by the time we ordered our dessert. Overall my impression was that the food wasn't horrible, but it also wasn't very good. The service however, was terrible. There are too many other amazing restaurants in Charleston for us to ever go back here.

Great service and interesting food. On my next trip I am just going to order appetizers they had so many great ones. Waiter Tom recommended this $16 Austrian white wine in 1.5 liter bottle that was excellent. Thx Tom!

Holy crap. So amazing. I went here for lunch with a friend, and was blown away. The location is a little off the beaten path in West Ashley, which would only be an inconvenience if this place was just average-- however, due to my recent experience there, it feel more like a hidden gem that I can't wait to go back to. The atmosphere is pretty cool; well designed building, particularly on the inside. It is pretty spacious, with high ceilings and a cool art installation in the back, as well as interesting slides on some of the bare walls that change every few minutes. I ordered the Beetnik cocktail, which was absolutely amazing. If you aren't much of a beet kinda person, their cucumber martini is pretty good too, albeit a little sweet for my taste. For food, my friend and I ordered their special sandwich of the day, which was a thin sliced pork tenderloin with house pulled mozzarella and arugula. IT WAS AMAZING. I wish it was on the regular menu so that I could order it next time I go! Lastly, the service was fantastic. Our server (my receipt says her name is Chloe?) was friendly and efficient, plus her recommendations were spot on. All in all, a fantastic place. I don't know what their dinners are like, but I bet it is just lovely as my lunch was. Thanks for your existence, Ms. Rose, you sweet, sweet angel of the sandwich and cocktail gods.

Rice/Sausage fritters = the bomb Super super good fried chicken. The portions are very generous and that chicken was still the bomb the next day, cold. Our service was great. There are tv's everywhere in this place. I have trouble trying not to stare at them during dinner. In my house the TV went off at dinner time. There was a local musician playing oldies while we were there. He was all over the place, and definitely had it 'turned up to 11.' We will totally be back. know what else? Very good mixed drinks.

All that Ms. Rose's offers cannot be taken in by only one visit. The entire look and feel of the restaurant, inside and out, is aesthetically pleasing. This place seems like it would satisfy every demographic that walks in--from the quiet couple date night to the craft beer lover coming to watch a game. Plenty of seating for each type of atmosphere. Also, loved the music that was being played. I've been here on two separate occasions, once for brunch and once for an early dinner. Both visits I was very pleased. For brunch I ordered the biscuit topped with a fried egg smothered in a delicious gravy. I was blown away by the explosion of taste in such a simple dish. Prices were very reasonable and quantity was perfect. I highly recommend the brunch and can't wait to go back. I am sitting here finishing my burger, side of fries and craft beer while talking to you. The review could not wait. Monday night $3 craft beers and half priced burgers...GREAT Burgers. Once again, simple dish and amazing flavor. TL;DR ( TO SUM IT ALL UP AND SAVE YOU TIME) -Outstanding cocktail and beer list. -Delicious Food -Wonderful ambiance I will definitely be returning. Also, I love their rewards program, Belly. I have checked in twice--its free, and really cool rewards. I'm saving up for the cocktail deck party on their outdoor patio.

Monday nights are half off burgers and $3 craft drafts. Currently they have Stone IPA, Westbrook One Claw, Hoppyum IPA, Holy City Pilsner, Allagash White, Frothy Beard Choco Naut and five/six more. Nice little selection and an excellent deal.

Ms. Rose's is one of West Ashley's best restaurants. The food quality is unsurpassed and the service is superb. I've been here for lunch -- but I hear the dinner menu is also phenomenal.

This place was jamming last night when I arrived for dinner. The modern feel inside was kind of a surprise, and I dug it. Live music in the bar area, TVs all around--we snagged a cozy little booth and poured over the menu. The cocktail list was adventurous, and we had a hit and a miss. The food menu is interesting--not a ton of entrees as I expected, but a nice mix of entrees and sandwiches. We ordered a few different things and I split the fried chicken entree (which came with honey hot sauce to lovingly pour over each piece as you saw fit). I'm glad we split it, because it was HUGE! No way one person could eat all that chicken. All in all, a very good spot. We'll definitely be back.

First time here... It was suggested as a "great brunch spot" We are big brunch people so we thought we would give it a shot... maybe could have given it 2 1/2 stars, but that is not an option on Yelp. The atmosphere is very cool, kind of hipster/chic diner. The hostess was friendly and greeted us right away. The rest of our group was already seated. Here is where it starts to go downhill... the server was uninformed about the daily specials and joked about it. She did not write anything down, seemed sort of confused when we were ordering and it was confirmed when our food did not come out correctly. My wife ordered the omelet and when she asked if they could do it as an egg white omelet, we were told not at this time. What exactly does that mean? Will it be an option the next time we come??? We were a party of 7 and 6 meals came out on time (mine was significantly delayed)... Always kind of awkward when people try to remember the proper etiquette in that situation. The food is somewhat expensive for what you get. The bloody mary was decent but coffee was not hot (not cold either, just kind of luke). When we all finally started to eat, the food was good (not great). The omelet of the day was mostly disappointing... not a lot of flavor and very small portion (and obviously, not egg whites). The bacon was just OK (this is very hard for me to write since I think all bacon is wonderful). It had a very strong smoked flavor which I am typically fine with but this was overpowering. The biscuits were very good. All in all, not a bad place but in a town with so many great places to eat, this place may not be back in rotation for a while.

I recently went to Ms. Rose's for their half priced burgers. The burger with pimento cheese and a side of horseradish slaw were amazing. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. Our server was very slow, and one person at the table did not receive their beer until after their food arrived. The restaurant was not busy, and everyone noticed the slow service.

This place sucks! I'm sorry, but there is just no other way to put it. First, my iced tea tasted like it had been brewed with coffee still left in the pot, then my wife ordered the gluten free bun for her burger, that on the menu says is a $1.50 upcharge, well, it was really a $2.00 upcharge. Just fix the menu... I got the biscuits and gravy, ok, but nothing to write home about (McDonalds is better). My wife's burger was ordered well done. The burger was bleeding, this burger was maybe rare. By the time the waitress came back, 20 minuets, we were done. Just give us the check... We were told " I took the drinks off because of the problems" wow! what a gift. The waitress told the kitchen about the burger so they would know for our next visit. LOL.. Really? I will not be going back to this place. I gave it one star only because that was the lowest I could give.

Totally bummed. The place is stunning, like the huge, upscale interior of an Airstream. Huge projection screens everywhere, would be great for college football... But the service and food... ugh. Firstly, the menu is not the same as the one on the website, the things we were looking forward to trying were not there. Who gives kids these weird grilled cheese sandwiches - we want them to eat quietly so we can have a glass of wine and these mozz & cuban bread things are put down (next to the nasty pre-frozen chicken fingers) and from then on it's, "Mama, this food is gross, let's go!" As for the adult food. the burger is tiny. The meatloaf is passable. The boiled peanuts are the best I've had. the real trouble is the menu, it's just an odd mix of stuff that makes no sense together and certainly will not blow you away. The service is really spacey. Nah, won't do that again.

  • Deb B.

The food was very good and the service was awesome. Going on a Monday night was a radical change from the crowded parking lot we've been seeing. They had a lot of sandwiches vs dinner options. I hope it becomes a great success in our neighborhood. I'll try it again.

We love this funky place. The architecture is modern with a cool mosaic along the back wall. Everything we have eaten is great. I love the way they cook the little mini pots with lids for vegetables, grits, Mac and cheese! Roasted Brussels sprouts are my favorite. I really like the homemade pasta noodles and the pretzel breads. Also have lots of good micro brews and growlers.

Went to Ms. Rose's for lunch. I loved the wall art, slide shows, and wood paneling decor. Ordered a burger with beef-fat fries. Wished the house ketchup wasn't replaced by Heinz... Service and food were top-notch. Overall a great experience.

Jerk wings were nasty, beef fat fries were terrible, and even the sweet tea was awful!

We visited Ms. Rose's this past Saturday with a large group of girls. It was not that busy; however, we were ignored the majority of the time. We rarely saw our waiter and spent over three hours trying to get our food and checks. The food was good and has very large portions. However, the person who brought out our food was extremely rude. He proceeded to call a person in our group a b***h for no reason and then came back and apologized after we complained to our waiter. He then proceeded to say that he really didn't mean it and we took it the wrong way. We were told that the manager was not there that night and it was obvious. I will never go back to a place like this that treats their customers in such a manner.

After hearing so much about this place I decided to try it out for myself - AMAZING! The atmosphere was really fun and had a modern flair - definitely check out the mosaic in the back room made from old items from the previous restaurant. The food was beyond delicious! The menu has some great choice and lots of fresh local goodies - portions are pretty big though so plan to share or come VERY hungry (sharing charge may apply?). Lighting is a tad bright for an evening spot - but that is really my only critique. There is also live music a couple times a week - definitely on Fridays, not sure when else. The band played inside so it was a little loud but the music was great which made it a fun event and not bothersome at all. My only regret is that I was too full on some incredible apps and entrees to try something from the dessert menu - which looked decadent and delicious! I will definitely be back!

I live in Northbridge and was really looking fwd to this place opening. I have given it 4 or 5 tries and every time it has been super average. Good beer list but the bar closes early on most nights due to it being so slow. Menu is very limited

Everything looks a bit burnt and brown. Servers are nice but the service staff really needs improvement. The food is very inconsistent.

Ms Rose's is a terrific asset to West Ashley. The decor is as contemporary as the menu. They offer a terrific selection of beer on tap. The food is bold and enchanting. Sassy and playful. The service is excellent. Great place for lunch after 18 holes of golf. Now for a good nap.

I am reading some of the 1 and 2 star reviews and I have noticed they are not really about the food, more or less the atmosphere. I agree it's somewhat mixed, lounge, patio, TV's and upscale diner but that's the point... There is something for everyone. As with anything new it's takes time to work out the kinks and upon my first visit, I was very happy with the environment, service and food. I am not a chain eater I am a novice foodie and Ms Rose's has the potential to be a neighborhood go to place. I do not work for them, nor are they paying me in free booze but I think some of these reviews can are not really fair and could damage a reputation of a place that someone painstakinly and lovingly made into a modern day joint.

After watching the transformation from Sunfire Grill into The Original Ms. Rose's for a year or longer, I had high hopes for this restaurant to become a neighborhood favorite. Opening tonight (Oct. 5. 2012), I was the first carry-out customer. I called in an order, ordering the crispy fish sandwich with horseradish cole slaw.. For $12 you would expect to see substancial fish on a fish sandwich. The order was ready upon my arrival, and the staff was very friendly. No problems there. When the carry-out was handed to me in a plastic bag, I right away noticed the bag felt light in weight. When I got home and opened the box, I could'nt believe I paid $15 for this sandwich ! The fish wasn't much more than a fish-stick...on a large, puffy bun, lettuce, tomato, onion and.....with no sauce. The serving of slaw was interesting in taste, with quanity being very small, mabye one-third cup. And a pickle that tasted horrible. The bread overpowered the little tiny piece of fish. As far as the rest of the menu, it overall seemed interesting: sandwiches, salads, entrees, and sides. The atomsphere seemed more ectlic than down-home.

This is a foodie must. Great fresh local food. Burgers are ground in house, everything is fresh made. Pressure fried chicken!!! Amazing.

Waited for check 45 minutes. Eggs Benedict on bacon just meh. Seriously over salted fingerling potatoes. Asked for extra hollandaise, never got it. Menu is clever and creative but didn't follow through for me.

Well, the decor is pretty nice. Our server was very nice. The surprise came when my wife's burger came out. It was a mini burger for $8.00! The menu doesn't say mini burger, that's just what you get. It is tiny! It's only a 4 ounce patty, but the menu doesn't say that and it's on a miniature bun plus you pay extra for the cheese. The fries were cold and tasted stale. I ordered the jerk wings. I asked for them to be extra crispy, but they weren't at all. It seems the weren't fried so maybe they can't be cooked crispy, but the flavor was great. We told the server our disappointment in the size of the burger so the manager came over and took it off. We didn't ask nor was it our intention. We just thought they should know how we felt that they should at least advertise it as a small burger. But she was an excellent manager as was the server, so for those reasons we will return and try it out again.

Mushroom turnovers were really good and flavorful. i had the meatloaf sandwich. it was pretty good, my only complaint was that the meatloaf needed more flavor than just salt and pepper. it tasted kinda bland but it had tons of sauce and topping on it so you really couldn't tell it too much. The beef fat fries weren't anything spectacular except for just really crispy fries. the sauce that came with them was weird. My wife had the fried chicken and loved it. i wanted the butchers steak but 16 bucks for an 8oz steak is a little steep for me. id expect at least a 12oz for that much. Overall i enjoyed the food and would come back. Not the best thing but better than some. The dessert was peanut butter bannana pie. It was really good. The decor was weird. They have these big screen tvs with random pictures that remind me of someones poor quality desktop wallpapers for their computer. Pictures of space and deer and some vegetables. Weird design. There is a small tv on the wall in the dining room but nobody is seated in a direction to see it. They have four entrees to choose from which is kinda sad because i didnt want any of them so i went with a sandwich. The staff do know a lot about the food but it got to the point that my server was doing so much talking i just wanted her to shut up and take my order. She did a great job taking care of us, i just think they are over doing it with the high end restaurant lingo. Its worth trying but i dont think i will go back for a long time.

"Excellent food at reasonable prices. The smoked meatloaf sandwich was outstanding. The Reuben is the best I've had in Charleston. Almost everything is made on site, right down to the butter. Try it, you'll definitely want to come back.

The only star awarded is for atmosphere. The food and the service left a lot to be desired. Strange combination of foods. We ordered boiled peanuts as an appetizer and never got them. I had the crispy fish sandwich, which was very dry and tasted like they used frozen fish. My husband had the gnocchi, which was just ok. They brought me squeeze bottles of ketsup and mustard which were apparently homemade and tasted disgusting. The ketsup tasted like a putrifying combination of nutmeg, tomato, and vinegar...ugh! Will never go back.

I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes. Great atmosphere and drinks. Service can be a little off sometimes - slow or moody...

I am so glad that we found this place. The decor is very unique, food is fairly priced and the staff is super friendly. We started our meal with the Jamaican Meat Pie and Dirty Rice Fritters. The meat pies were more like patties. The meat in the patties had great flavor and they were incased in a flaky dough that melts in your mouth. The dirty rice fritters were a smidge greasy, but they were very tasty and had a nice crunch. For my entree I had the Brisket Sandwich with a side of fries and because I could not help myself I also got a Homemade Biscuit. The Brisket sandwich was AMAZING. This was seriously one of the best sandwiches that I have ever had. The bread was warm and soft. The meat was hearty and paired well with the onion jam and sweet pickles. The fries were perfectly cooked and not greasy at all. The biscuit was what you would expect in a good biscuit; It had a nice crust on the outside and a flaky buttery inside. My husband had Rose's Fried Chicken served with mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was creamy and the chicken had a great crispy exterior and moist interior. We also grabbed a vanilla milkshake to go. The ice cream is homemade and the milkshake reflects that. It was so yummy. Final Thoughts: This place is awesome! Try a homemade ice cream shake.

I love the look and feel of this place! The Patch Whisky mural, the ever changing screens with cool images, and the friendly service! I went for brunch with a friend. She got a mimosa with cranberry instead of orange juice (is that called a poinsettia?) and I got a bloody mary, which was just what I needed. It wasn't spicy like a lot of the ones you find down here, though if you want it to bring a little heat, I'm sure you can ask. I got a basic bagel with smoked salmon and my friend got their biscuits and gravy. Hers looked like a super duper nap enducing but totally worth it dish. I was just expecting my bagel to come out in regular sandwich form but it came out as a deconstructed meal so I was able to build it myself. It was really pretty, the salmon was yummy, and complimented my bloody mary perfectly. I'd like to go back and try some of the more adventurous foods!

First time at Ms. Rose's and we were very optimistic after having read good reviews. We were impressed with the interior decor-funky and modern. We especially liked the screened in eating area. It was perfect on a nice Spring day like today. Now, on to food and service. Our server was excellent, though it took way too long to get our drinks. Our appetizer came before the drinks. I should have seen the warning signs when the couple across from us sent back their biscuit and looked disgusted with their entrees. We wanted to have the smoked salmon appetizer, but they didn't have it! We finally decided on the Spicy Bacon Jam wings (happy hour special), a biscuit and the Butcher board. The wings had a good flavor, but they were not very meaty and they looked unappetizing. (See picture) The Butcher Board was not bad, but not stellar. The pimento cheese had no flavor, but the rest was decent. I would have liked to have a Manchego or other similar cheese with the meat. We were very pleased with our waiter, but noticed that other customers were not satisfied with their service. I noticed one server wiping crumbs from the table to the ground while the customers were still at the table! I would like to see this place improve-it's a neat concept, but they need to work on perfecting the menu, having what's on the menu, and offering great service.

I was more impressed than I expected. The place has a somewhat cool vibe to each of the separate rooms. The service was fantastic. The drinks were very good and very reasonably priced. It helped that we were there for part of happy hour. My only complaint was that I clearly asked for medium rare burger and it was so over cooked, I could barely eat it, but the salad was fantastic, my husbands meal was great as were the apps. I'd definitely go back again.

Ms. Rose's holds a warm place in my heart. It has the look and feel of a modern diner with a slight upscale appeal. The staff continuously shines. Each and every visit is met with a server that is filled with energy and charm. The runners know who has what and the follow up is always top notch. I can't go any further without say "avocado ranch" Whether it is smoked meatloaf, a burger, fries or even a pretzel appetizer...this dressing goes on everything. Big screen TV. If you like a game or just watching art and scenery from the walls, they have the entertainment covered. It wouldn't be a good Charleston establishment without a fine selection (though small) of craft beer. Monday's are half price burgers (Note: The additional toppings are not half price) If you save room, there are milkshakes....

Awesome bug-free outdoor seating, cool and covered with fans...corn hole and lounging nearby which meant we got to eat in peace keeping the kids entertained. Great service, great food. All fresh food nothing greasy or processed. Such a gem! Chicken sandwiches are awesome, love the avocado salad dressing and the Jamaican pie appetizer. This has become our regular spot! Little park right down the street on the Ashley River, perfect sunset view. Best family date night in awhile.

I've been to Ms. Roses several times and the meal was always "meh" but today it was AMAZING! Step one, ask your server what's good. The fried chicken was delicious, crispy, not dried out, perfectly seasoned. Try it!! Huge portion in one meal, enough to share. The Mac n cheese was light and creamy, perfect flavor with awesome crunchy bread crumbs. Rockstar. I got to snag a bite of the street corn and I'm going to get that next time. Such a good smoky, seasoned buttery flavor. I love the French fries, couldn't stop eating them, even though they were not on my plate :-/ Appetizers that we shared with five people were fried green tomatoes, they were kinda salty. Pulled pork sliders were a decent start to. Our server was great. I also recommend some of their specialty cocktails, they have some decent mixologists.

This is an update to my previous review. Wow! Spot on service! Had the soft pretzel appetizer, dear gracious Lord above, where have these been my whole life? amazing! will order them again. I had the build your own burger and fries. Did not disappoint. Well made plus a super big mound of fries super crispy. My wife had the build your burger as well will an ear of corn, grilled and cover with parmigiana cheese. Once she started eating it she didn't stop! Devouring it at one time. Yep she liked it! Over all the service and the food was really spot on and we will be back. A side note, super clean rest rooms, plus the noise level was perfect. This stays on my burger list for sure!

Wanting to try a new brunch spot last Sunday, we all decided to head to West Ashley and give Ms. Rose's a whirl. After pulling in the parking lot, I realized I don't go to and from West Ashley very often via this way b/c I had never noticed all the work they've done to that building. It's gorgeous. From the entrance to the inside, it really is nicely done. It seems like a really cool place to hang out, drink, and watch football. As far as our brunch, none of us left that satisfied. Two of us ordered the bacon Benedict, two order the build your own omelets, and one corned beef hash. I only tried mine, but the consensus at the table was all dishes were way too salty. I love my food seasoned, but when I took my first bite of the bacon, it was a salt lick. I thought it would be a couple strips of bacon, but instead it looked like a thick piece of pancetta, or slab bacon. It was not only extremely salty, but extremely fatty. I ended up pulling it off the Benedict. The eggs were cooked well, the English muffin was toasted great and had a smoky char flavor that was very satisfying, along with the hollandaise sauce, which I would have loved to have more of on it. The cheddar grits were good too. Really, really creamy. We were glad to try something new, and if I find myself in West Ashley on a football day, I can see myself stopping back in for a drink, but will not be heading back to Ms. Rose's anytime soon for brunch again.

Dirty Rice Fritters. I should stop there because I'm already getting hungry. You can't go wrong with the menu selection, whether it be small or large appetite. Service is great, staff is friendly, and the food is timely and highly edible. The ambiance is very welcoming too, and if you happen to have a wait (make a reservation to avoid this) you can always play corn-hole for a little while out on the front patio / porch.

Moderately priced Southern Comfort Food. Maybe could be more imaginative like the back wall of old-restaurant recycled material. Food came out pipping hot, burnt our fingers while grabbing the fried chicken. Mac and cheese was good as gold. Portions were plentiful, but there was just something missing. Will have to return to figure that out. The screaming kid at the next table may have been a distraction. Eric our waiter did the best he could to accommodate and gets an A+ for the effort.
