Pizza was amazing, and the service was even better! Walked in after 2am, ordered two pizzas, and they were handed to me instantly! Fast service, good food, night made.

Okay, so it was like 11PM and according to my friend I was pretty out of it. After attending an all day conference and crashing afterwards, I wanted food. Nothing was really open and I couldn't find Pita Pit. So why not pizza, or instead I got a calzone. And this place was really good, fast, friendly and cheap! The calzone was out in less than 15 minutes. Very good, filled with lots of meat and cheese. Overall pretty decent, would diffidently go back.

We got in around 1am from a flight, we were staying at the Francis Marion and were unsure of what to order... We looked and looked and stumbled upon Gilroys. We placed our order around 150am and it was here by 3am. It was Labor Day weekend so every bachelor and bachelorette party I am sure we're doing the same. Great service, great pizza and fried zucchini and awesome hours! Definitely recommend! :)

Overpriced 2am pizza! Lots of distracting license plates to read while youre waiting for your pizza. No bathrooms. Better pizza places out there!

We all know that Gilroys fills a very specific need and that is late night food cravings with a side of post bar debauchary. This college hot spot hang out isn't my favorite pizza, but it definitely does its job. Looking to grab a beer after hours with your pizza? Gilroys is BYOB so stop at the store and pick up a sixer on your way.

I would say that Gilroy's is perfect for late night drunk eats and not much else. The breadsticks were not breadsticks - but rather a pizza with cheese on it and marinara on the side. The sausage pizza was good, but nothing worth writing home about. It was so salty I'm still drinking gallons of water to quench my thirst three days later. I definitely would never eat here sober and I think the prices were probably even too high for late night pizza, but in a pinch, it was fine. The order at a counter, grab, and go concept was great - we headed back to our hotel to enjoy our overpriced pizza we bought way too much of.

Brought back various pizzas to our hotel room 2-3 nights of our bachelor party weekend. It was a massive success. Recommend for those types of nights.

Stumbled on this place while strolling about with my husband looking for lunch and seriously craving pizza. This place is small... I think it only had about or 5 booths but the service was pretty fast. When my husband I were done hemming an hawing over what to order, our food came out fairly quickly and was exactly what we ordered. Also, they have a normal soda machine. I HATE those new big red coke dispensers that give you a billion options for your soda and always seems to dispense something vaguely tasting like what you chose but always tasting HORRIBLE. Anyway, we sat down with our beverages and waited for the Gilroy Fries, hot wings, and calzone made with sausage, pepperoni, chicken, feta, and spinach. The calzone was solid, the wings are decent but those fries... OH those fries! I don't particularly care for potatoes unless they're cut into sticks of some shape and deep fried and these french fries were seriously wonderful. I ate so much of the giant serving I couldn't finish my half of the calzone or my share of the wings! But French Fries, bacon, cheese and ranch dressing combined is a pretty to die for combination. Overall I'd give 1 1/2 stars for the food, 1 1/2 stars for the initial service and a 4th star for being awesome! My absent minded husband left his cell phone on the table after we'd finished eating and we were probably a block and a half away from the restaurant when the very nice man behind the counter came running at us with his phone in hand! That's amazing! And I'm super thankful (and forgetful because I certainly can't remember his name to save my life). 4 stars! Would definitely eat here again!

Plain and simple, this is a late night/college food spot. Since I'm not in college, I found myself here late night while looking for something to eat during a visit to Charleston. It's exactly what it sounds like, a place that makes all the basics from a greasy food standpoint. I grabbed myself an order of buffalo wings, which I must say, were actually pretty good. You can get all kinds of things here though, including pizza. It's a small place that seems to be mainly used for take out. However there are some places to sit if you wanna tear into your food right there on the spot. Overall however, it's your average college food spot that is open late night. This is critical because there don't seem to be many late night options in Charleston. Definitely a good go to. Get the wings!

Definitely eat Gilroy's pizza a few times a month. My boyfriend and I love it. We work late, so the hours are ideal for us. The staff is always friendly and we always get our food in a timely manner. The pizza is awesome. Never have any complaints other than they could maybe fix the place up a little, but for a usual college hangout place I guess the atmosphere is exactly what you would get from a college hangout.

This place is only good if you are one of 2 people: 1- Drunk college kid heading home 2- Desperate for late night food This gets three stars only because I was starving and craving late night pizza (It stays open until 4AM). I went in, fought off a crowd of drunk people, and got a large pepperoni pizza. I took it home and inhaled it. Not even close to being considered good, it satisfied a late night pizza craving with reasonably quick service

I've eaten at Gilroy's twice, so I can say with certainty that the bad pizza I had was not a one time thing. Overpriced and burnt, and the cheese tasted like plastic. They DO offer specials, however. One of the times I was there late (around midnight or so) and an entire party of drunk college kids stumbled in and started a huge fiasco amongst themselves. Not the restaurant's fault, but the staff also did nothing to corral them; we had to leave because I began feeling unsafe. Staff just stood around, a few of them texting and none of them caring at all. Gilroy's definitely caters to a type: dive-bar-loving-drunk-college-kids. If that's you, cool, I guess. The restaurant knows its clientele and I can't fault them for that. They obviously have a very loyal fanbase, but I'm definitely not a part of it. If you want real good pizza real late, go the few extra blocks to the Market and get Pizzeria di Giovanni. You don't have to be drunk to enjoy it.

Came here for some late night pizza, the pizza was edible but nothing I would purposely come here for. We really wanted Mellow Mushroom but their kitchen was closed. There is no bathroom here, but you can go to the bar upstairs if you need a restroom.

Sometimes their wings are off like maybe have gone bad, same with the pepperoni. But all in all they are ok. When the wings arent bad they are great for a great deal. I

The pizza here is about average. The crust is comes out soft and the sauce is not too sweet. However it's eerily similar to Papa John's... try it and tell me what you think.

Food: Pretty good Staff: Very straight forward, sometimes rude but mainly friendly. Atmosphere: Hippie, hole in the wall, unique, small Ups: BYOB Open late Downs: Food takes a while Not for big parties Conclusion: It's where to go when you want to save money on alcohol by buying it across the street & drinking it there. Food is decent enough & atmosphere is very local feeling.

Pizza and wings pretty decent! Love that they are open really late! College atmosphere and hippie like setting! Prices are alright ! Wish they solds subs later than 9.

Food is ok, not great. Service is terrible. Very rude and won't even honor their own coupons. Said they were too busy to honor the coupon.

Pretty good pizza. Even better cheesy bread. Atmosphere is a mix between "swamp shack" and "hippie hangout." Nice folks behind the counter.

We happened upon Gilroy's when looking for late night eats, and can comment on both the dine-in and delivery experiences. Dine-in: seating is limited. Prepare to hover over those finishing up in order to snag their table. We ended up sharing a table with a couple of drunk frat guys when we attacked a table simultaneously. I just considered it free entertainment - dinner and a show. Our pizza was ready impossibly fast - no more than 10 minutes after we ordered it; and was impossibly hot - like hot lava. You may be better off carrying it back to your destination, rather than trying to be patient or burning the roof of your mouth. Can't beat the price - less than 8 bucks for a small, which fed this husband and wife to satisfaction. Delivery: understandably a longer wait. Almost an hour, to our hotel about 7 blocks away, at about 1 am. Pizza was still delicious - no danger of mouth burns. Not sure about delivery fees, but our pizza was almost twice the price (not including tip) when delivered. Still a pretty good deal at about $15. Would definitely recommend Gilroy's for late night eats in Charleston.

This place is very hit or miss. Sometimes the pizza is decent - other times it's pretty bad. It's also overpriced for what it is. Definitely more of a delivery or carry out place, unless you really like a college dive vibe.

Not the best, not the worst pizza. Small personal pan pizza lunch special was definitely worth it. It's a small restaurant and seating is limited. Cool place and great location.

Is it the best pizza in town, no Is it good, yes Is it convenient, totally. Open late night and in the center of King and campus, this pizzeria offers a great late night option. Also, it caters to the students and the recession by offering specials on pizza, calzones and other options. If you want some quick Italian, give it a shot.

They're open late. The pizza was pretty cheap. I liked it. The pizza on special was a medium I think and it was plenty to split with my boyfriend. They do have an eating challenge on the wall which is always cool to see at a restaurant but I just wasn't up for the challenge. The location is great - it was very close to our hotel and perfect after a night out. Would recommend as it seems to be a bit of an institution in Charleston.

Had a small pepperoni pizza delivered to the room. ($12.04) I've had a lot better...but then again, I've had worse.

Every college town needs a Gilroys. This place was exactly what we were looking for around 11:30pm this past Friday night. No frills. Cheap pizza. Very chill. My girlfriends and I flew into Charleston pretty late Friday night for a bachelorette weekend and after wandering around for quite some time (apparently EVERYONE stops serving food here by 11), we found Gilroys. Hunter, the very nice guy at the cash register, took great care of us! He let us know the pizza specials and offered us some drinks which were included in the price of our pizza ($10 for a large one topping). The pizza was awesome and it was even more fun to people watch all the college kids out on a Friday. Thank you Gilroys for a great Friday night pizza fix!

Pretty mediocre pizza made exclusively for broke college kids and late night convenience. It's usually pretty good after 9 vodkas, though. Sober, not so much.

Not the best pizza in town but not bad for the price. Service was good and the wait not long.

I have two words.....Chicken and Ranch!!!! I crave this pizza. Growing up in Charleston there are just some things that are synomyous with my home town and Gilroy's Pizza is one of them. The other day I fooliishly tried to replicated the Chicken and Ranch, while mine was very yummy it just didn't conjure the same amazingness that Gilroy's manages. Does anyone know if they deliver to DC? Just writing about them is making me miss home!!

Solid. Nothing special or out of the ordinary, but tasty pizza, decent toppings - top notch pepperoni - & the delivery guy was on time. My one experience with them.

Oh god, y'all. I ate a ton of this pizza after 2 am in college. Instead of getting a pizza to go, after we'd been drinking for a while, we always thought this was the best plan. At last call, go downstairs from the Upper Deck Tavern and order a large cheese pizza for delivery. Then, we'd walk like the six blocks home to our house, and after we were home for a few minutes, we'd all wait eagerly in the kitchen for the pizza guy to arrive. Voila- excellent nighttime pizza. Thanks Gilroy's! It always hit the spot and kept the hangovers at bay.

I got a calzone for lunch. It was $6 [cheap!] and awesome! I also had a philly cheese steak from there and it was pretty good. Nothing remarkable on the philly. But the calzone was super-good [it had ricotta in it I think] and the people working there were really cool. I will go back.
