Cha Cha's is an awesome local bar with an bar staff that is incredible. They are friendly, personable and they really take the time to get to know you. With a comfortable environment where drinks flow with friends and food is always yummy, this is a place to really make your own. There is nightly live music or DJs, trivia on Wednesday and themed events most weekends. Don't forget their hangover brunch. Always a good recovery meal. Check out Cha Cha's.

Matt was our amazing server. Mother chips were hot & fresh with chunky delicious salsa! We had the Cuban and steak tortas and a beef taco. Ask your server for recommendations. I will definitely be back. Huge portions, savory taste. Refreshing service to match the refreshing drinks! Great happy hour! Monday half off tortas. 1.5 beef tacos. $4 screw driver

Absolutely the WORST service I have ever had. The amount of time it took to even have our order taken was weird. Then the kids food came out 20 minutes AFTER the adults food. Took almost 45 minutes to get our check. Food was okay, chips and salsa were great. To be fair, other servers were much more efficient and were getting people in and out. Didn't seem like a terribly family friendly crowd.

Interesting tacos! Try brunch on the weekends and come for football on all the many TVs. Tecates are $2 and only $1 during Happy Hour. Good neighborhood bar with various offerings such as trivia nights and dancing with a DJ.

Great tacos for the price and I love the vibe here. I came here quite a bit during football season due to the awesome placement of all the tvs at the bar area. Need a few more selections for beer and liquor for us non tequila drinkers but overall I really do enjoy drinking and hanging out in this establishment.

Came in here for lunch and to be honest... Frankly this spot SUCKS big time! The food doesn't resemble Mexican food at all... Not at all. Also very slow/poor service... not worthy of a good tip.

Got to finally try this place the other day and I'm glad I did. My boyfriend and I were hunting for a good lunch place to watch the game and have drinks. Cha chas is the place! Got the guacamole to start which was decent. The drinks were really good. I suggest the margaritas. For lunch I got the spicy shrimp taco and the fajita taco which were fantastic! But my boyfriend got the war pig taco and it blew us away! Everyone needs to try it!

I was inquiring about a place to play pool, and Cha Cha's was recommended. When I saw that it was a Mexican Grill, I thought that maybe I had confused the name. Then, I saw the place. They have several pool tables available. While my husband walked back to the car to retrieve his pool stick, I waited by a table in the billiards area. I was approached by a friendly man named Charles. He apologized for not greeting us at the door. I assured him that it was no problem because we were there to play pool. Nonetheless, he gave us a bowl of chips and salsa. The salsa was tangy with mild pepper notes, and the chips were fresh and crunchy. My husband and I had a blast playing pool there! There was a jukebox that contained a wide array of music. The atmosphere at Cha Cha's was upbeat and lively. When we had finished our game, my husband wanted a shot of Tequilla. The two bartenders were knowledgeable and pleasant. A brand was recommended, and my husband indulged himself. Cha Cha's also featured fruit and vegetable infusions. One in particular featured habaneros, cayenne peppers, and other hot items. Next time, I would like to try the food. If ithe cuisine is anything like the atmosphere and service, it will surely be amazing!

They say kids eat free on Sunday. Keep in mind that there is no brunch menu for kids. The FREE is only if you order kids menu.

For two dollars I can get what?!? A beer and a taco?? I kid you not. Happy hour at Cha Chas is where dreams come true. They have a nice selection of Mexican food and a wide variety of tequila for all you crazy folk. It's a great place to watch sporting events. They have a ton of TVs and pool tables to keep you entertained. They also serve a great brunch on the weekends. I'm not sure what isn't great about Cha Chas. Just go and revel in the happiness that it is bound to create.

Let me just say that he "War Pig" taco is the bomb, 3 different types of swine in a taco, sold. The place is pretty cool and big two and the staff was pretty good as well. It's a little off the beaten path and is almost Innoway a little bit too local if that makes any sense but it really is a cool spot well worth checking out for lunch or some drinks late night.

Awesome food. Service good. Happy hour prices perfect. Chips fresh! Two people. Four drinks. Two tacos each...33$. Can't beat it.

I can dig what you've got going on here Cha Chas. This is a pretty cool bar on Folly Road that has a chill local feel to it. It's a great place to go to if you want to have a good time at a bar without all of the crowd that comes with going downtown. With a large room full of pool tables in one half, and plenty of room to sit in the other, I could see myself coming here more frequently in the future. The is plenty of room at the bar, and $7 PBR pitchers make me a happy drinker. I would have liked to give it four stars, but I was disappointed with the service when I visited. It took an excessive amount of time to be served at the bar. I even got the attention of the bartenders a few times, they told me they would be right back, and I never saw them again. I was on the verge of leaving when a different bartender came up and apologized for my wait, and from then on, he took good care of our group. I understand it was a big night, with it being the Charleston Chive party and all, but it burned me that I watched several groups of people walk up to the bar and get immediate service when I had been waiting for several minutes. I'll be happy to give y'all an extra star if the service is better next time. This bar is like a breath of fresh air if you want to go out for a chill night with friends and avoid tourists and rowdy college students. I'm looking forward to trying the food next time and hope to add a star for better service. See you soon Cha Chas.

I have been here on numerous occasions. Always very good. The tacos are always tasty. I get the chicken wings a good bit. They serve them a little differently than most places. The wings are large and fried with the sauce on the side. I like this because you can apply the right amount of sauce on each wing. The house made Ranch on the side is delicious. Great prices for late night and serves till 1:00 am, for those looking for a late night snack.

I've been here a few times on a Friday night. It's a pretty nice place for a hangout. I noticed a few familiar faces when I came the second time. The bar service is always good. The bartender once gave us his honest opinion about a brand and recommended a cheaper, good quality Tequila. I read that they have over 100 Tequilas to choose from... I'd say stick to that or beer. They definitely aren't into Bacardi... I was looking for Bicardi Limon,... no luck... So i asked for Bicardi O... and no luck again. They just had plain old Bacardi, which just tasted gross. =( The bathroom is always clean and I've never had to wait in line. Outside, there are a few picnic tables to hang out and still hear the DJ inside. The DJ pretty much spins whatever the crowd wants. I think they said he starts at 10p and ends at 1:30am on Fridays (not sure about the other nights). I have yet to try their food, but I'm curious about the asian-mexican fusion that I've seen on their menu.

New management, new menu. Food is really good. Try the tuna tacos! Awesome drink specials, and weekly food specials. Definitely worth checking out.

I love stopping by Cha Cha's after hanging out at Folly Beach! Happy Hour during the week is great for the $1 Tecates. Most recently I had the Sloppy Jose Tacos...so good if you like it hot and I do. The atmosphere is relaxed with the whole "Day of the Dead" vibe and I really liked that there were a couple of pool tables. Of course having a hellava huge selection of tequilas isn't too bad! The only complaint so far was a band playing Saturday (daytime) was so loud my group of 4 couldn't really hold a conversation. That sucked but everything else was good!

Cheapest happy hour anywhere! $1 tecates and $1 need tacos! Can't beat it. The people watching is pretty special too.

We went to Cha Chas because we purchased a Groupon coupon. We wind up going there twice since we forgot to use the coupon. We didn't mind cause the food were so good! These are the dishes we ate; Chicken wings. You get a choice of sauces for dipping. Best chicken wings ever! Juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside. (see pic I posted) Fish taco, steak with grilled onions taco. Very good. Chicken taco- a bit bland and too rich (creme sauce) according to my son. Chicken taco salad- very fresh romaine lettuce, black beans (not the can stuff), chicken was moist and plentiful. We both had the lime cilantro dressing. Salsa sauce and chips - complimentary I could tell all there sauces were homemade. The restaurant- Bar and pool tables were the main part of the place. Booths and tables were in one corner of the place. Lots of TV along the walls. Classic rock music playing in the background. Basically, a pool bar with awesome food and a place to hang, drink beer, listen to classic rock. Lots of drink selection. I am not a beer aficionado but I did have an amber from the tap (2nd visit) since my husband said it was very good the first time we were there. Worth a stop and/or a trip from Charleston especially if you are heading to Folly Beach. We tried Folly Beach for the first time since we were going to Cha Cha. We won't go to Folly Beach again since we our car got ticketed and we prefer Isles of Palm beach better. However, we will return to Cha Cha for their wings!!! Oh, the prices are very reasonable.

I thought this place was a blast! My bro-in-law went with me to watch a UFC event and the place was wall-to-wall packed. We got there within an hour of the event and the only seats we could find was a lone booth along the wall. Granted, the place maybe has only 6-8 small tables and a huge bar space to sit at. The adjoining room is filled with TVs and pool tables. The bartenders and waitress were friendly and tried to accommodate us ordering and eating on a seat without a table. Very helpful! The fight could be seen on about every wall with the plethora of TVs they have. The drink specials were great- $2 BL, $3 Modelo, and $4 Tecate+tequilia. This is the go-to for Mex food and the fights but get there early if you plan to sit down.

I entered nervously, i have valid fears surrounding hole in the wall bars. My nerves were soon calmed by a friendly bartender with pink hair. This place is large, real casual and laid back. With it's 100+ ltequilas, hells yea i'll be back here with my girls.

What a great find! It's close to Folly beach, tucked away at the end of a strip. Don't miss it. They had great service on a busy Friday night and the tacos! What? The tacos were inventive and fantastical! I tried the Po Boy, Maple Bacon, Chicken/Pineapple, Philly Cheese tacos. YUM! They also have a great happy hour menu and drink special from 4-7. Don't drive by... Stop!

I am not sure what happened at this restaurant but the food used to be really really good. The last two times it was disgusting! They changed the menu and you can tell they cut costs. I would have paid more for the food if costs went up. A once highly recommended place that we will not go to again, unfortunate.

Ya' know what, this is as good as it gets in this area, and we're so glad they are here. They do put love in their menu and the night life is where it's at in the area, for sure. They love what they do and share it with you.

We went there not quite sure what to expect and we were both very pleased with the entire experience. They have a killer happy hour with dollar tacos and super cheap beer. We had enough food to cover our entire table and it didn't break the bank! The servers were all very nice and helpful. We will definitely try this place again!

I've been to this bar on two separate occasions and ordered margaritas, and both experiences have left much to be desired. The first time I split a pitcher with a friend and was not even buzzed when the pitcher was gone (and I'm usually a light weight). The second time I ordered a single margarita that was too sweet to even finish. Definitely not impressed for a place that calls itself a tequila bar.

If you like crowded to the point if no service, and no room whatsoever, go here. I never got a drink. The crowd is everyone I went to high school with. And I'm 21. Not many people in there except you for being new to the place, they just ignore you. The pool tables never have an opening, the restrooms are dirty and never have toilet paper.

Fun place with cheap drinks. The food is pretty blah, even bad perhaps and table service is HIGHLY suspect. That said, the bartenders are great and incredibly attentive. This place has a ton of potential, hopefully they can find some servers and improve the food! I hope both happens cause I want this place to make it!

This place is great! Great specials, amazing menu, and the staff is always awesome! I brought 35 people here on a saturday night and despite it being a holiday weekend and college football night, everyone in my group had a great time and was full of food and drunk with booze all night. great GREAT place to go!

Just happened to find our way into the area at the tail end of "happy hour" a week or so ago. This location has changed ownership/names, so many times, but this current version seems to have a little staying power, which is nice. . Anyway. Lots of smokers on the sidewalk, which is better than indoors, so it's a bit of a necessary evil. Grabbed a margarita for starters, but was curious about all of the Tecate beers floating around. The margarita was decent, but not quite A+. Not bad by any means, but not spectacular. Switched over to beer a little later. . Now, for the positive... The food was absolutely wonderful. I am a bit spoiled by Kevin over at Zia, and Taco Boy out on the beach. Both are well above the average "Mexican Food" that you can get at the La-Ha, La-Car, Senior, etc. This isn't in competition with La Ha, and their #18 for $8.95. This is quality ingredients, with a good blend of spices, prepared properly. Now Cha Cha's fits right in that "well above average" category. . Had the roasted pork & pork belly tacos (2 for a total of $7) and was completely satisfied. The size was fine. The roasted pork was delicious. The pork belly was exactly what you expect, with a little seasoning to give it some character. . All in all, very good prices. Quality and quantity was perfect. Would highly recommend for a dinner, just based on the food quality. The herd of smokers out front is understandable, but better out than in. The place is pretty festive, but OMG, that roasted pork taco was delicious! If you find yourself in the area, intentionally, or by accident, treat yourself to a reasonably priced, but surprisingly delicious meal. Just plow your way through the crowd of smokers out front...

If I had to rate Cha Cha's on food alone I would probably give it 3-stars but the atmosphere and drink prices give it the bump up. We've been here twice and both times the food was ok but forgettable. I've had better tacos at other Charleston restaurants. My husband didn't think his cuban torta was very good or very "Cuban". The salsa is clearly made with canned tomatoes but is fine to munch on while having a few $2 Tecates. Cha cha's is a fun place to have a few drinks but it definitely caters to a younger crowd.

This place is really fantastic : food, margaritas and atmosphere! The waitress was nice with us and took time to explain the menu ( we are a French family). Before departure we will come back !

Good food and exceptional service. I waited a few weeks for the novelty (and crowd) to die down before trying it out. The tacos are very good and the staff was excellent. We asked for her opinion on a few items and she was very helpful. Also, they did a great job renovating from the previous establishment. No doubt that I will return.

Our first visit this past Sunday - First choice was closed so we thought we would give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The tacos, quesadillas and queso dip were all vey good and the proportions were more than enough. We'll be back!

My first visit after a friend suggested it. The empanada's were excellent. My pork belly and lamb taco was great. The salsa was a little sweet. The side of corn needs to be warm and salted. Great beer specials. I will return for a future visit.

I only give this three stars because the food misses the mark for me. Very large bar, great for people watching and drinking. Best idea they had: it's happy hour there every time it rains.

    (3)
  • K. M.

It gets 2 stars because the service is good. The tacos could have been some of the worst ever. Flour tortillas? Bacon on a chicken taco? Tasted more like a chicken sandwich with bacon and tons of mayo. Gross. Real gross. If you can't pull off "fancy" Mexican street food then you shouldn't try. Go to Zia and experience real Mexican. This place is a joke.

I really enjoyed Cha Cha's. The food was great and there was a nice selection of quesadillas, tacos and fajitas (great vegetarian options for my wife as well). In addition, I love good tequila's (not the margarita grade or the Cuervo shooter flavor) and Cha Cha's has a great selection...over 100 to choose from, well done! Another reviewer had bad service, having driven by on opening week I can understand why. My service was outstanding!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
