The BEST food on Lake Murray, Chapin, Little Mountain. My wife and I eat here at least once a week. Never been disappointed!

Horrible food. Of the places to go on lake Murray this is the worst I've been to. Drinks had no flavor or kick to them, apps were small and tasted bland, and the entree was the same. Service was good but fast service for below par food means little.

Went on the weekend to have breakfast on the lake around 9:30 a.m.. The buffet was empty and had to wait for food. The price was high to the amount of food that was not available. Food was on a card table size. They were not able to keep up with the demand. Fruit was picked over. NOTE: The waitress never came out to take our drink order. we had to go in and get our drinks. At the conclusion of the breakfast, we cleaned up our spot and still no waitress. As we left, we did not leave a tip because we had done all the work...she shows up and gets huffy because nothing is left. We are in the restaurant business and would never do that but they did not deserve the $. We used to go to this location when it was owned by other owners. You got a sufficient amount of food. When you went back to refill the buffet, there was no food. Would not recommend for breakfast unless you want to wait on food.

This place is a somewhat newer dining spot on lake Murray that is accessible by boat. It had surprisingly good food when we went for lunch. We were a little skeptical when we saw the place at first! We tried the fried oysters which were juicy and flavorful, the flatbread pizza and an awesome barbecue sandwich. They have good coleslaw here too, very vinegary and fresh with chunks of bell pepper. The only downside I saw were the flies. They just seemed to make it inside no matter what.

Went to frayed not last night to have some dinner and drinks, watch a little fireworks and enjoy a band. If you haven't been there in awhile you need to check it out. The food was exceptional! I would highly recommend this out of the way tavern on the lake. Have a D, D. When you go . I had the tilapia and it was cooked perfectly. The wait staff was attentive and very friendly.

Love this place great food great decor great parking for cars and boats! Don't worry about the other crappy reviews, I hate negative people. I am so the opposite. I always try to think positive. You have to come here! Only look at the good ones. I love there Chicken Tenders and Fries. It is a small restaurant, but Frayed Knot does great. You got to love this place!!!!!!!!! How can you not? The bathrooms are small, but pretty nice quality bathrooms. They are sure much better than a portapotties. Really fast service for a small crowd (like 4 or 5 people). I don't want them to go out of business like the previous place that was there. So come on and go to Frayed Knot! Why not? Tip: (Known Fact) Sometimes tables are empty and they don't seat you there because the kitchen can't keep up, so there would be no reason to seat you if they can't really serve you.

Great lake spot. Excellent docks to pull into and nice view. Had a big group stop in last night for drinks and apps. Their loaded fries are more like wedges and it's a killer dish. Yeah, service was a little slow and the bathrooms are straight out of 1962 & slightly creepy, but this is lake life and it's worth every sec.

We boated in for a late midweek lunch. I had the fish and chips for &10. My date had the frayed shrimp for $15. Add in a couple of beers. All in all good generous portions well prepared. Off the lake it would be average, but add the lakeside location and it bumps up to 4 stars.

Flies, flies and more flies. Awful service, sat there for 15 and no table service. No paper in the rest rooms. How can a place like this possibly stay open? The worst ever. We've tried this spot four times. Each with major disappointment.

The Frayed Knot is not meeting my expectations. This bar and restaurant is located on Lake Murray in Chapin, SC. I agree with other reviewers that the food is good and the location is excellent. However, on 2 of my last 3 trips to eat at Frayed Knot the service has been absolutely lousy, and I don't just throw the word "lousy" around every day. Last night my husband, son and I arrived at the Knot around 7:30 pm. After being told there was a 30-minute wait, our table came up within 15 minutes. Now that's usually good news. The hostess seated us with menus and after about 30 minutes during which servers were busily bypassing our table, I flagged down a server and asked, "Do you know which server is ours?" He said, "Oh, I am. I'll be with you in a minute." By the way, we had not been greeted by him or any other person and we had not received even water to drink. We ordered 2 appetizers and placed our drink order. Our server returned to advise us that the bar was out of both beers we had ordered; we ordered substitutes. One of the appetizers came out before we got our drinks--not a good restaurant practice. At last, other not so cheerful servers brought 2 beers for my husband and son, no glasses offered. I asked--for the second time--for water. Finally we got our food and we enjoyed our burgers; the Frayed Chips were good as well. When we got our tab, the server did not clear any empty dishes from the table. The Frayed Knot needs desperately to act like a real restaurant and bar. The service is way below acceptable. I don't know if it is due to lack of training, under staffing or something else. As a customer I feel that I am not getting my money's worth when I eat here. When I dine out, I'm expecting to have a relaxing evening, not one fraught with delays and shortages and unhappy employees. I have often recommended Frayed Knot to my friends and acquaintances, but I will not be doing that anymore. And I won't be back until I hear from others that overall customer service has improved. There is a lot of potential for Frayed Knot's being a top-notch lake restaurant destination. I'd like to see that happen. Frayed Knot, the ball's in your court.

Visited the Frayed Knot on Memorial Day. Love that we have two new fun places within a few minutes' boat ride from home (the other is the recently re-opened Buffalo Creek Grill). We sampled the wings (Buffalo and sweet chili flavors - they have several more), the Buffalo dip, and the kids mini-corn dogs. All delicious, great beer selection, and a good band playing.

Three times we have been, two of the three we were served raw steak and raw pork chops. The rest of the orders were not bad. Service has been slow every time, busy or not. Too bad because it's close by boat and they have a great view. Next time we will just drink and stick to the appetizer menu.

As a first timer to the area, we found this restaurant on yelp. Driving up, the building doesn't look very impressive and we were skeptical. But the food was great! Great food, presented beautifully, in an easy going setting.

Food and service were great. Some favorites are fish tacos and "pork wings". Ray and Janelle

It OK hamburgers not really worth 10$ and ask for the dressing on the side of the of the wedge salad. The entrée s are big enough to split.

Last summer we purchased a home in Chapin, SC. Searching for a good restaurant in the Lake Murray area, without driving all the way to Columbia can be a real task. But there is good food at Frayed Knot. The building is pretty rough, but a stop there especially for lunch, is worth it. You can sit outside overlooking Lake Murray and enjoy a good burger, fish & chips, good wings or Buffalo Dip. I always get the homemade smoked salmon spread, very good. Very casual and they do have boat docks. Service is somewhat slow . We have been there at least a dozen times, and we'll keep going back. They use Topper's Rum (local SC Rum). Give it a try. Nice place for a casual lunch, on the water.

We just moved to the area and are very happy that we found this place at the suggestion of a coworker. Really great experience there with my husband. The food was great and the atmosphere and staff were warm and friendly. My husband and the rest of my family will definitely be back soon. They are very busy, so if you have a large party you might want to call ahead, as that is really the only time I could imagine there being a problem.

Went down to visit a buddy on Lake Murray and he took us out to dinner at the Frayed Knot. First of all, thwir wings are some of the best I have ever had. Plenty of meat on them and it just falls right off the bone! I got the fish and chips. Their chips are freshly sliced, froed potatoes and the beer battered haddock was on point! Everything arrived very quickly and hot. Looks like a bit of a dive, but the place is a diamond in the rough!

The food was good, I had the fish tacos and they were definitely worth the 20 minute drive. I also had the Peach Martini...that was better than the tacos. But I may just have been thirsty. LOL! It is very loud, they really need to address the acoustical issues. It was a chilly day but after being seated in the dining room and hearing how loud it was decided to brave the chill and sit outside to eat. It was much quieter. I also think that the place could be cleaner. They had a lot of staff working at the time, I think there were 3 hostesses - a little excessive for a Wednesday night. They were all just sitting around doing nothing except for the few servers that had a table to attend to. I don't like to see people doing nothing when I go to a restaurant. Overall, the experience was probably lower than the rating I gave but the food upped it a bit.

Stopped in a Few weeks ago after a wedding rehearsal with the bride and all of her girls, we collectively decided we could have a better time at home..came to spend money and have fun but the bar tenders were terrible and slow. Used to be a fun place years ago, great location and boat slips

I have tried the Frayed Knot three more times since my initial visit. The food, service and value remains good. The owner and staff is friendly and seem very interested in customer satisfaction.

A small restaurant and bar on this nice lake community with a great view and people that are as friendly as they come. I came back twice. The waitresses and bartenders are fast , accurate and service oriented. The food is fantastic. The wings are great, the burgers fantastic, the specialty dishes are dressed like a 5 star and just as tasty. The andouille gumbo was Cajun and delicious as something from Baton Rouge, LA. It's a small people oriented place and I will be back!

The first time we came to the Frayed Knot the food was great! We decided to take some friends in from out of town for lunch on a Sunday. I am not sure what happened this time. The service was terrible. Our waitress did not smile once, it took almost 2hrs to get our entrees and one of them never showed up. We all ordered sandwiches that were not very hard to make. I had high hopes for this placed based on our first visit but after our recent visit I just don't know.

Had a party of 7 picky diners everyone got something different. We ordered BBQ, burgers ,the fish and chips, shrimp and loaded taters we all were impressed with the food price and service and the lake view wasn't bad either. So 5 stars
