This place was great. We had collectively: the French dip, Old Armory burger, and the grilled chicken. They were all perfectly prepared and the sides were yummy. The sweet potato fries were the best I've had anywhere and the prices were fair. The strawberry bread pudding was amazing with the vanilla ice cream and the chocolate mousse cheesecake was highly revered. All in all the staff was nice and I would come here again!

Poor service and bland food. Not likely to return. The owner or manager had a very cocky attitude. Atmosphere was decent but overall disappointed in our experience.

I decided to stop off for lunch while driving along the freeway headed to Aiken, SC, & wanted a nice place to stop, sit and eat that was not "fast food." I did an inquiry with "Siri" to locate some restaurant options , & came upon the Old Armory Steakhouse in Camden. It had several good reviews, so I decided to go. Thank goodness I did... The food & service were WONDERFUL!! Missi was my server, & she was extremely friendly. She was attentive & an overall excellent waitress. I enjoyed the house salad, which was freshly prepared with blue cheese, tomato, cucumber, fresh greens--along with a delicious house made dressing, served on the side. I also had broiled Mahi Mahi, served with rice pilaf & steamed broccoli. The fish was moist, and was a generous portion. The prices were great, too! The house salad I had was only $5.95, & the fish entree was $8.95. My compliments to the chef & to the management here. If you are looking for a great place to eat, with a friendly & relaxing atmosphere--look no further!!

I visited The Old Armory about a month ago when I was in town for business. The service I received was excellent. The food was good, but not great. The steak I ordered was cooked properly and seasoned well, but was not a great cut of beef. The only complaint I have had to do with the noise. I chose to sit in the bar area, and i wish I had not. There were a number of guys at the bar that night, watching the NCAA football Championship Game. These guys were clearly over-served, and were being very loud and obnoxious. The owner seemed to be OK with this, as he was engaging in conversation with them. As a place that seemed to be trying to be somewhat upscale, this was definitely not an upscale environment. Not a bad place overall, but it could have been better.

Great find in the country!! Although not " fine dining" per say, The Old Armory is good for a nice evening out, with solid food and VG service. Our server, Rhett was attentive, professional yet quit personable. Our party of two enjoyed the oyster cocktail, shrimp and grits, southern comfort entree. Only suggestion I have is for the house salad that includes pecans. The pecans were simply raw and could be MUCH improved if roasted/ toasted lightly to give a nice crunchy contrast and bring out the nuttiness of the nuts.

It's amazing, when this place first opened up, it was THE place to be and the menu was top notch. I've been there a couple of times in the last two years or so and noticed that the place seems to have lost its luster. There is now a dessert cooler when you first step in through the heavy oak doors that rattles and is "out of place" for the atmosphere. I had lunch there the last time and it was a huge disappointment. I sat down with my mother hoping to treat her to a nice lunch and the place was surprisingly empty. The booth we were seated in was still dirty from the night before. Our server was clad in a dingy black uniform, but she seemed pleasant enough and actually took pretty good care of us during our meal (hence the two stars and not just one). I opted for the salmon sandwich, and it arrived soaked in grease (that's a first considering it was supposed to be seared, I think it was actually deep fried. Odd, but I digress). It had this mushy texture with globs of mayonnaise that could make anyone with a stable stomach queasy. Yuck! I took two bites and asked the server to toss it. I ended up giving the restaurant a second chance a few weeks later, but sadly, had a similar experience. My recommendation: if you want a good lunch, just go elsewhere. If you're in the mood for a nice dinner, just go down the street to Sam Kendall's!

I ate here on Tuesday night. Very nice servers, very pleasant atmosphere. I had the steak salad with the house raspberry vinagrette that was out of this world. The dressing is made here and had a yogurt texture. For dessert I had the Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake. The price was steep, but then the cheesecake was steep as well. You better have someone to share with as this is an enormous piece of cheesecake. I would definitley go back.

We dined here for the second time last night. Somehow, I neglected to post a review after our first visit a few months ago. So, on our first visit we went with another couple. My wife and I got the broiled seafood platter and we both enjoyed our meal. Our friends both had a steak and they enjoyed their meal. The pleasant surprise of the evening was when we asked for a recommendation from our server on desert. He suggested the chocolate mouse cheesecake. The piece he brought out was huge! He brought 4 forks and we all shared. It was fabulous. Last night, we went back and tried the steaks. My wife had the ribeye and I got the prime rib. We had the same server, Kevin, this time as last. The steaks were cooked to order and seasoned well. The salads were fresh and tasty. We again got the cheese cake and again it was fabulous. The service was great as before.

We split the seafood combo. It was boiled. The meal was excellent. The wait staff was really good. I also split a Greek salad that was too big for one person to eat. I'm great atmosphere.

This is based solely on the service (at the bar), a couple cocktails, and a Greek salad with grilled chicken (suggested by the nice bartender): BEST FREAKING Greek Salad I've had in memory. Ridiculously good. Tons of feta. The creamy Greek dressing is nuts. We have an open/closed-down restaurant (old River Rat) in Lake Wylie you guys would be welcomed by locals to open up! Cheers!

Old Armory is an exceptional restaurant! The food was majestic, the drinks were mystifying, and the service was magical. One particular bar tender, I think his name was Casey, was particularly charming and incredibly handsome! I highly recommend it to everyone!!!

A true Camden gem! Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. My steak was cooked perfectly and the port wine reduction served with it was a superb compliment. My dining companion stated that her flounder was one of the best she had ever had, melt in her mouth good.

My wife, Susan, had eaten here several times on business, but this was my first trip and it won't be the last. We started with the spinach & artichoke dip that was simply delicious. Then we split a bowl (and I mean it was a big bowl) of lobster bisque. That's enough reason right there to return. Then we decided to go with the special shrimp and grits. It was different than any other I'd had in that these had a Greek twist to them. I would love to get to recipe. Then we finished the meal by splitting a slice or hunk of the Award Winning Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake. Kill me now!

I tend to frequent Old Armory only for lunch so can't speak for the dinner menu. The lunch special that I seem to eat more than any other is the grilled chicken sandwich. It is a large chicken breast full of flavor and never dry. For only $6 you get this with a side PLUS your drink. Rather be drinking bourbon but tea will do for lunch

First visit was pretty great. Bruschetta was good lots of basil and they removed the garlic for me. Prime rib medium was good and gyro platter was excellent both were large portions. The chocolate mousse cheesecake was good as everyone else stated however the cheesecake does have orange flavoring which was unexpected and not to my liking so I ate around it. One piece is definitely enough for more than 2. My husband also had 2 beers and our bill was only $60 way less than we expected or are used to for a locally owned steakhouse. Wouldn't recommend eating on the patio bc you will be surrounded by smokers. Also we were there at 630 and several customers were already too drunk to walk straight and as the night went on many more seemed to have had too much. Server was great and they take their time meal is not rushed. Casual dining with slightly upscale food so casual attire is acceptable. Make a reservation on the weekend or there may be a wait. Will definitely return!

Four of us went for dinner 4/26/14. The live music was amped up far too loud for the space & we were among several who complained we couldn't hear each other; we finally asked to be moved outside for dessert. Three of us had the fried seafood, one had the baked crab cake. Our calamari appetizer was rubbery and we barely touched it. The tartar sauce, remoulade and cole slaw sides were all room temperature; one person's serving of mixed vegetables was cold when the dinners were served. The next day three out of four of us had diarrhea off and on all day; I suspect since the sides were all mayonnaise-based, that was the culprit. Overall, it was a huge disappointment.

Nice Atmosphere. This is a very nice steak house restaurant in "Old Downtown" Camden. The atmosphere is very nice- Cozy oak wood decor- Very comfortable. It would be a great place for a quiet evening. In addition, this restaurant has a nice comfortable bar, with a fairly good selection of bottle beers, only a few on draft though...A nice selection of wines, and daily drink specials! The food is good -The menu is full of good stuff, with a better selection than the normal steaks and seafood. Like a previous reviewer stated "A great place to eat a good steak."

I had a mixed experience here. The Old Armory Steakhouse was recommended by the hotel I was staying in. Parking was a breeze. Inside I was greeted with smiles and the atmosphere was very clean and attractive. My server was decent. I ordered a NY Strip with Shrimp. The shrimp was good and the spicy onion strings were surprisingly yummy. The jacketed baked potato was a nice addition as well. Sadly they use really tiny servings of whipped butter, which means that it took four of these little tubs to do the job and I could have used more, honestly. A tiny negative to me and it is really just a preference of mine and not that big of a deal. I just expect more from a nice steakhouse and prefer the real deal with my butter. The steak, however, was not my favorite. I asked for medium and it came back so well done that it was really tough. The spices on it had some potential but they were so overdone that it was tough to see what the flavor arsenal they really intended. I think it was just an off night for the steak chef it seems. I could have returned it but was so full with the bread, shrimp, and baked potato that I was cool with just eating the steak as it was. Pricing was on the slighty expensive side but was in range for a nice steakhouse. Overall I'd go back.

I've had several great visits to The Old Armory. I have figured out that lunch is more enjoyable and affordable. The dinner prices are not bad for what you get though. I just happen to like the burgers and the cuban sandwich alot. Great experiences with sandwiches and salads but the veal piccata I had one night was awful. For such a simple sauce it tasted as if it came from a bottle. It was thick and very yellow. Otherwise the food is good. The bar has has a new beer on tap and there are beer or drink specials.
