I'm sure I will return to Truffles and update this review. I expected to be leaving 5 stars, but one thing changed it. I'll get to that. First off, my wife and I stopped in for lunch after my mother raving about Truffles. It was convenient for us as we need to go to Kroger before returning home. We were sat at a two top in the bar area. The bartender was our server, and he was AWESOME. The service was impeccable, and that will always make me return. I had a view of the kitchen, and everything coming out of the kitchen I wanted. Since it was lunch, we decided to eat light (really wanted the baked brie in a puff pastry). My wife got a lunch special of a grilled pimento cheese with a tomato dill bisque. I almost got the same thing (and wished I did). It was great. I went for the Napa cabbage salad with Tuna. I figured that close to the ocean the tuna would be fresh. I'm fairly sure it was frozen. I love tuna. I had it cooked medium rare (which it was cooked perfectly). Unfortunately, the tuna was not great. It just had a fishiness to it. I know it is a fish, but this was just off. This is why I thought it was frozen. The salad wasn't the cheapest thing on the menu either. Sending food back isn't my thing. I know I should have, but after spending so many years in a kitchen and waiting tables its just something I don't do. Having said this, it may have been the last batch of tuna they had or some other reason. It would not stop me from going back. Like I said my wife's food was great, and everything leaving the kitchen looked amazing. I still wish we had gotten the baked brie appetizer.

In the land of everything fried this is a breath of fresh air. There is some disparities such as cloth napkins and cold bread and butter in paper wrappings. The crab cake was decent, a bit heavy on filler, but resurrected with a mild wasabi sauce. Good mashed potatoes and fresh string beans done right. Not an adventurous dessert menu so I settled for an espresso with a pithy twist. Their glass wines are minimal and a Duckworth Pinot was almost vinegar, but cheerfully replaced with a Rodney Pinot. Friendly servers and no rush dining. Note to bartender- wine by glass need to get rid of air in bottle or wine turns. Note to barista on espresso with lemon twist no pith, pith adds unwanted bitterness to the peel!

this place seemed promising considering the other options around. It's in a strip mall sort of deal but it was close to our hotel. The decor was great and looked like a pretty nice restaurant. It ended up being pretty awful. The food was so-so and absolutely not worth the price. We got the artichoke dip and something else that I can't really remember (it was that mediocre). We were a little unsure on entrees so we told the server that we would get the appetizers and drinks first and then decide on dinner. The server only came by like 3 times during our 2 hours visit, she walked by and would basically ignore us when we tried to wave her over to order or ask about entrees. We were pissed about that of course. We ended up only getting appetizers and after waiting for the check for like 15 minutes (even though there was barely anyone in the restaurant) and then leaving. We would have been better off going to one of the other chain restaurants, I've had better service at a crowded sports bar. Hopefully the service gets better, as a visitor, I would probably never try it again. Though perhaps it was a unique experience because the other reviews are generally positive.

I was pleasantly surprised by the dining experience my wife and i had at Truffles. It isn't that we had low expectations, but we didn't know what we were getting ourselves in to. The decor was inviting so we said "why not" Glad we did!! They start you off with bread and butter and if you can manage to stop munching on that, you are a better person than me. We had the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer and it was very good. My wife ordered the linguine with shrimp and she enjoyed it. I had the parmesean crusted catch of the day which was a fish called black drum. If it were kosher to do so, I may have licked the plate clean it was so good, but I refrained and settled for a slice of key lime pie instead. In addition to the delicious food, the service we recieved was extraordinary! We will definitely make a visit back to Truffles cafe. As a side note, they do sell their butter to go, which I recommend everyone get.

My pesto linguine was one of the best I have so far; arugula , sundried tomatoes, pine nuts-all high quality fresh. We'll definitely come back again since our server Garret, who is really good both very pleasant and knows their dishes very well, recommended us to try their crab cakes and fish for next visit.

So delicious! Fancy feel to the restaurant but the prices are very reasonable. The food is amazing. We had the crab cake, meatloaf, seared tuna, and ribs; all were delicious!

We had four different appetizers, they were all great. We are from Maryland and were skeptical of the crab cakes, no need, they were pure lump meat with NO breading, very impressed! Not sure why they call it a cafe, it is a nice restaurant for dinner; the decor is very nice, elegant. The waiter is very knowledgable and made great recommendations. Two of the party had the shrimp linguine, one liked it the other did not. They brought out a second linguine without us asking, it was much better and hot. Chicken chipotle was good but too much blue cheese. Pork burger was very good but messy. Desserts are good. They also have several nice private dining rooms.

Had a fast meal here and the staff was very friendly. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and get our order just right. Love the high ceilings and long outdoor porch dining option. Would definitely come here again. Loved the fish sandwich and sweet potato fries. Appetizers are awesome. Key lime pie looks great but tastes like the same recipe you have had 100 times.

The hens and I celebrated my birthday. Josh I think was attentive. the bread was nice, and the artichoke spinach dip was delicious. The mango chicken sandwich was satisfying, but could use more mango flavor. and the sweet potato fries were just right.

Very friendly staff and love the cream of tomato with dill soup. It's the best I've ever tasted with a dash of fresh cream on top.

A rainy day at the beach almost always leads to shopping. I would much rather spend such days reading a book, channel surfing or simply taking a nap. Long story short, we headed up to the Tanger Outlet stores. But factually, I too enjoy the outlets. As the outlets sit on the less commercial side of the island, it's advisable to google restaurants options if you want something more than standard fast food fare. That was the case today and Truffles Cafe was an easy choice. For me, the name Truffles is synonymous with the terms classy, sophisticated and consistent. I have visited the Truffles locations at Sea Pines and Pope Ave on the Island a few times. I have never been disappointed. There are a variety of menu offerings to include seafood, steaks, burgers, wraps, and the signature baby back ribs. There is an extensive wine list. Each location is different in decor. All are very nicely done. The Bluffton location has huge windows, nice dark woods, a huge wrap around bar, those nice "half curtain" things and more. But, even with the richness, the restaurant still feels casual. I can't imagine what I would pay for such surroundings and food offerings in NY. Today, we combo'd on the Chef's special Spinach Salad with salmon and the half portion of ribs. Both were great. The bread was delivered shortly after our beverages and proved up to the Truffles standard. Our Server, Stephanie was a jewel and true professional. The manager even stopped by to inquire and then to bring wet napkins with lemons for cleaning Barbecue fingers. The food was delivered promptly. The presentations were appealing. As you know, I like consistency and reliability. Truffles has both. This is a great stopping spot before entering the madness of the outlets on a rainy day.

We ate here the past Wednesday evening and it was wonderful. My wife eats here quite frequently for lunch to entertain clients.when I go, it is normally for lunch, or we go for happy hour occasionally. The service and attentiveness was the best I have seen at dinner after living in Bluffton for 14 years. We had the Southwestern chicken and pasta and it was absolutely delicious. The only reason this is a four store instead of a five star review quite frankly is the cleanliness of the restaurant and maintenance that needs to be done. Everything around our booth was extremely dusty, looks like it had not been done in years. The front door for years has been badly in need of re-stain and they never seem to get around to doing it. Same thing for the mirrors, and all the draperies, I would be afraid as to know when the last time they vacuumed them was. Other than that, as mentioned the food and service was fantastic.

This restaurant is actually a chain, and this location is in a strip mall, but it's nicely appointed on the inside. I had the pork ribs, they were beautifully tender, but not seasoned very well, and simply covered with a very sweet barbecue sauce. This is obviously not where you would travel to if you wanted authentic southern ribs. The fries were good, and the local IPA beer on tap was excellent. Service was decent, but there is little here that is memorable. It's a business formula. Not much more.

Excellent happy hour at the bar! App menu, beer, mixed drinks and wine - perfect place to stop off after work or go for dinner! Staff is super friendly. Just a great place to hang out or go on a date.

This review is supposed to be for THE COTTAGE in Old Towne, Bluffton-- NOT TRUFFLES!! I fancy myself a true foodie, so I can't give this place 5 stars for cuisine. That being said, it's pretty darn good. I came here for lunch. I ordered the lobster pot pie and a beet salad. The pie was on par with what you'd expect from an authentic southern place. The salad was meh with canned beets and low-grade Gorgonzola. The complimentary pimento cheese is perfectly Southern. A few dishes I did not order, but looked terrific were the fish tacos, lobster & avocado roll, and the fried green tomatoes. Given the options in the area, this is one of the best. Come on Thursdays and you can also enjoy the neighboring Bluffton farmers market.

Truffles was a wonderful experience! My husband and I went for lunch and we had a wonderful time! My husband had a salmon which he said was delicious and I had a burger! It was amazing! I know, you might be thinking "really a burger?" But YES! I actually took the herbed butter from the bread and put it on the burger (which was already great but I couldn't get enough of that butter) which made it OUTRAGEOUS! Seriously you won't regret going to Truffles! It was a delight! And bonus - the service is wonderful, our waitress was great!

I ate here for the first time recently. I had the portobello mushroom sandwich. It was tasty, but a little too greasy for me. The homemade chips and ranch were very good.

This place seems pretty cool for a strip mall restaurant. The food was okay. I had the Crispy Chicken (Fried Chicken) and my wife had some type of fish. I don't remember. She wasn't very impressed, but I was at least intrigued enough to where I'll prolly try them out again. The service was a bit slow and I'm not a fan of young waitresses talking to me like I'm 12. Maybe it's the Southern "baby" "honey" thing, but I'm like come on, I'm probably 10 years older than her. Anyway, we'll see if I like it any better next time. Oh yeah, the tables are so close that I felt like I should have given my opinion on whether or not the guy at the next table should drive back to Atlanta that night even though he just had work done on his car. I thought he paid too much for the new tires for his Honda Accord, but it wasn't like I actually knew them. I just felt like their conversation was at my table....

We had the Spinach Salad and Chipotle Chicken. What a diamond this restaurant is! If you haven't eaten here yet, then get there. The ingredients are high quality and the recipes are nothing short of delicious.

A nice upscale lunch and dinner place. Nice wine and beer selection and consistently good food. A nice broad menu with some creative taste profiles. Its the kind of place you enjoy going back to - repeatedly.

I had the tomato dill soup for an appetizer. I had the Pimento Burger for dinner. Both were excellent. I consider myself a Burger connoisseur and would rate this burger a solid 8 out of 10. The only thing about the burger that could have been better was the bun. The other 3 people I was with all had different entree's and everyone walked away saying that the food was excellent.

I love the ambience and menu here. It's a bit upscale without being overly pretentious. The menu is what I classify as "basic". Meaning that it has a little something for everyone. If you don't like fish, you can have a burger. If you don't like those options, you can check-out their pasta dishes. Or have a large salad. They have some good "home cooked feeling" type meals like meatloaf and pork chops. The meals are always plated nicely and taste delicious. I love the butter that comes with the bread basket. Two suggestions: 1) Try their flavored teas/lemonades. They crush fresh fruit into them which makes them delish! 2) Make sure if you sit in the side room that you don't mistake the gigantic floor length mirrors for a hallway. We've seen one too many walk into them thinking they were walking into a another room. Oops! I took off one star for service. While the service is usually professional, it's always a bit on the slow side.

Good not great food but hey, everything is relative. For me, 4 stars means you're truly exceptional and only a couple restaurants in all but large metro areas are justified. We ordered crab cakes (good but not amazing), southwestern salad (good but too many tortilla strips and the large pieces were way too large) and ribs (tasty but nothing special or unusual). The interior is very nice, upscale turn of the 20th century Paris. Good place for a glass of wine.

To start, the price for two soft drinks, two entres, one appetizer, one soup, and tip was $67.85. My girlfriend and I stopped here for lunch and were underwhelmed by the food. We started with the artichoke and spinach dip, but there was something not right about it at all. I think this is a hard appetizer to mess up, but it didn't taste good. I wouldn't recommend it. I also started with a French onion soup. The soup was edible after 10 minutes of cooling, but the cheese was too thick and it was overall gross. You couldn't get a spoon of soup with the bread and cheese because of the way it was prepared. Our entres then arrived - a bacon burger and the chicken pot pie. While the burger wasn't bad, there was nothing special to it. I hoped for a well seasoned burger, but despite the bacon and bbq sauce, it still didn't have much flavor. The chicken pot pie was the worst part of the meal. It came out in a bigger bowl, but the same presentation as the French onion soup - a big bowl with a crust on top. Under the crust though was more like chicken soup. Our idea of chicken pot pie is a creamy feeling - but absolutely not a broth. Again it was way too hot, too greasy, and too salty. It didn't taste good, and she didn't really eat any of it. Sadly, our favorite part of the meal was the bread and garlic butter, which was really good. This was my first visit, so maybe I just got the worst of it on one visit, but I won't return here for a good while. It was quite overpriced given the quality of the food. We wished we'd gone to 5 Guys for better food!

Great food! Sesame Tuna Wonton was terrific! Enjoyed the BLT Bibb as well! Didn't order anything else cos what am I some kind of fatso?! They brought me me an extra basket of complimentary sourdough bread and garlic herb butter that I hastily and happily consumed, so maybe I am kind of a lardo. The great service didn't stop there: they have complimentary waters to go and held the door open for us as we left. I mean who does that?! Maybe I'm a rube but I've never been to a restaurant where either of those two things happened before. Maybe you go to places like that all the time, but not me. Instead of sitting there judging me, you should go to Truffles and enjoy some tasty food and great service instead! Exclamation point!

The website is out of date. It lists vegetarian options, but there is not much aside from salad there. I had a southwestern salad (which was delicious), but I probably would not have picked this spot had I known I would only be getting a salad for dinner. Luckily, dessert is fantastic...blondie and peanut butter pie were delicious (but definitely need to be shared with friends!)

I was working near the Truffles Cafe in Sea Pines, but decided not to eat there. As I was driving off HHI and through Bluffton, I realized there was nothing I wanted to eat. When I saw my second chance at Truffles, I pulled into the parking lot and marched in. This place was much nicer than I thought it'd be! I ordered take-out. The hostess and waitress were both extremely nice, going out of their way to help me. I waited at the bar and they gave me a take-out soda. I ordered the Southwestern Wrap which was just so good, as were the fries. I also liked that with my take-out order, they included several pieces of fresh bread and garlic butter. Oooo...garlic butter. All in all, I was impressed and very happy with my order. My next time in Bluffton, I will definitely be stopping by for lunch.

Not a big fan of this Chain Restaurant. The food seems to have the flavor of something cooked in a commissary, then shipped to the Physical Restaurant and rewarmed. There's just something a little off putting about this place, I've even asked to talk to the Chef, but was told that the owner writes all the menus and that the food is just prepared by cooks in the kitchen. I don't know if this is true or not, but if there isn't a chef in the kitchen to make sure the flavors a right, this would explain the commissary theory.

great menu - eclectic mix Baked brie appetizer with fruit and nuts is great - works as a shared appetizer or a stand-alone entree. Definitely recommend the salmon entree. Pleasant, attentive yet unobtrusive service. Good wine list.

In Bluffton, SC, I would have to say that Truffles is one of my favorites since there is a nice selection of salads. I know, I know...5 stars. But, seriously, I have had to dumb down my ratings after moving from the food mecca of SF to tiny little, off the map, Bluffton, South Carolina....not that Bluffton is bad. It is just different with a limited selection of dining opportunities. In fact, I had to chuckle when I saw that the top three restaurants in Bluffton currently are Bluffton BBQ, Squat & Gobble, The Cottage. All dives...but hey, it is what it is. Therefore, Truffles is about a seven step up in terms of decor and food quality. I am addicted to the Bibb lettuce salad with pecans. In fact, I don't eve use dressing since it is so good without it. Plus...who needs the extra calories? I would recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Everything was delicious! Delicate favors. Beautiful presentations! fresh ingredients! Large, juicy shrimp on the tasty grilled shrimp salad. The massaman curry was excellent, as was the mango with coconut sticky rice for dessert.

Really - this place is not THAT good people. There are better options here in Bluffton. I had really high expectations and Truffles just did not stack up. Really mediocre food at a high price. Not worth it.

Truffles is one of my favs! Food is consistently fresh. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone. I love the Curry Chicken Salad, Cajan Tilapia, and their signature Chicken Pot Pie. Yum!

Mike and I stopped here for lunch on the way to Hilton Head Island. We were in beach clothes, so we just got takeout. Mike said we were a tad under-dressed, and judging from the disdainful look from the hostess before we announced we were just picking up, he was right! So we munched on our food in the car. I had a wrap with portabella mushrooms, roasted red peppers, brie, and spinach. It was just heavenly. French fries were tasty too. Mike swears by the Southwestern wrap, but I can't ever seem to pass up anything with brie in it. A nom, nom, nom. If you're visiting HHI, there are a couple locations -- this one is in Bluffton, and I hear the other location in HHI is great too.

Truffles is a Clean, Cozy Cafe specializing in a wide assortment of Bistro Style cuisine. A popular place for locals to meet, Truffles offers something for the Vegetarian to Carnivore. It's all good and the service is fast, accommodating and friendly. A great place for meeting friends and business associates.

Great restaurant with a diverse menu. The decor is upscale and I like the bar. Great martinis (my wife loved the apple martini here - not nearly as syrupy as a lot of places, and the first place I ever had a chocolate martini). Bluffton is well represented by chains so it's great to have an moderately upscale restaurant off-Island. Definitely worth a visit for anyone visiting off-Island, or a local resident. I no longer live in Bluffton, but when I did we ate here often.
