Excellent food and service. Made to order guacamole which is always fantastic. Cadillac margaritas with a shot of smooth tequila. Grande Combo with chicken taco, juicy shredded white meat and home made shell, shredded beef burrito so tender, and cheese enchilada. Reasonable prices. Families welcome. Diverse clientele. Super place.

The food was amazing. The service here was great. Guacamole is made fresh right in front of your eyes to your liking. Probably one of the best Mexican food places I've ever been to. Me and the wife are making this our go to Mexican food place. And we will definitely be telling all the family and friends about it.

Excellent staff, amazingly fresh food. We frequent this place at least once a week. Don't pass this up! The fajitas are crazy good, I often get the carne asada.

I always get carne asada fajitas and they are very good. My hubby always gets the pork carnitas plate and he loves it. We also get the large table side guacamole and it's awesome! We have been coming here for 3 years and the service has always been good. We drive from Beaufort SC just to eat here. It is the best Mexican food in the area.

I have eaten here a lot and the food is always good. However, the last five or six times I have been at Mi Tierra, the server has not brought me all of my change when I paid my check. I am a generous tipper and I don't understand why this is apparently their practice. (Eating alone for lunch so no gratuity included on check). Food is good as long as you don't mind being ripped off by the servers.

We loved this location. Order the fajitas and a jalapeño margarita - it's off menu but ahhhmazing!! Our kids love it too. Great family atmosphere but I've seen singles, older folks, all kinds having a great meal here. Also get the table service guacamole. Love it!

Frankly, I thought that we had decided to go to Giuseppe's since that had been the focus of our pre-dinner discussion. Instead we ended up coming here. We were seated quickly, and our server took care of all of our needs. Our dinner companion ordered the fajita combo plate, the XYL ordered a taco salad, and I ordered a calzone. The fajita's came out, to their normal fanfare of high volume sizzling. There was an ample amount of meat, and peppers/onions, along with the fix it plate and shells for the meal. No complaints what so ever. The XYL said that her taco salad was excellent. My calzone was very good, as well. It reminded me of the sammich that I had gotten there my previous visit. They took a small pizza dough, folded it in half and cooked it, using that for the bread of the sandwich. Same affair for the calzone, it seems. Folded a pizza dough in two and stuffed it with fillings. It worked out fine for me. Our food was hot and plentiful. Our server was attentive. I had my heart set on Giuseppe's but tonight's visit, while not quite as satisfying, was worth the trip. Mi Tierra Bluffton does not offer a Senior, or a Military/Veterans discount. @Removeyourhat

My girlfriend is Mexican, so we went here to test the authenticity. It passed with flying colors. Very tasty. The staff were all very friendly, especially if you attempt (myself) at ordering in Spanish. They love it. Chips and Salsa were plentiful. Entrees were very good. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone passing through Bluffton on their way to or from Hilton Head.

Service was a bit slow but food was good. The chips were interesting (I've never quite had chips like that before), but they were warm and tasty. The prices were also a tad high for such a small town, and they really should have a lunch menu. But overall a good experience.

Not at all impressed. My wife asked for unsweet tea and it took our waitress three tries to get it right. They were not very busy and three employees were in a cluster talking and laughing and I tried four times to get out waitress's attention to get a refill of my drink. Food was okay but nothing to write home about, and not worth putting up with the poor service for.

This was quite a find as you don't expect to get really good Mexican food in SC. First, we were thrilled that they were open on new years day when other restaurants were not. They had a choice of tequila (Don Julio, Patron, etc.) in their top shelf margaritas, which were good - not too sweet - and came in tall glasses. The guacamole dip was made at the table and some of the best that we've had - just the right level of spiciness. My husband ordered the Chimi del Mar, which was packed with fresh seafood. I ordered the shrimp sarandeado, which came with 8 or so nicely spiced shrimp. The service was excellent. We will be back!

I've been here about 3 or 4 times now so I guess I'm a fan of this place. It's consistent and that's what I like about it.

Whenever I come down to visit my parents in Sun City, a trip to Mi Tierra is in order. I LOVE this place. The food is fantastic as are the drinks. Sometimes we order the Mexican, sometimes the pizza. I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant at one point ordering pizza at a Mexican restaurant ... but - wow - was I ever surprised at how great it was!!! Highly, highly, highly recommend coming to eat here!

Normally the food is good, hot, and the service is very good. Last night's meal very different. They were very busy for a Tuesday night and must not have had enough help all around. We sat at the back bar as there was a wait for a table. It took fifteen minutes just to get a beer and a margarita. She forgot the waters we ordered at the same time. After twenty minutes, we got our menus. Another ten minutes go back, we finally are able to place our order. When the food comes out, the food is cold and so are the plates! Normally the food is piping hot and you cannot touch the plate as it's straight out of the oven. The staff were not friendly at all, cold food, lousy service all equate to a bad choice for Tuesday night.

I had to take away a star at one of my favorite restaurants today. My beloved MI Tierra, seems to be dropping the ball lately. We went in for lunch today, and though they have the usual suspects here for lunch, something was amiss. I asked our waiter what he'd recommend from the lunch menu, he said that the Chilquilles were really good, I asked red or green, he recommended the red, he also said that the dish came with a small steak and a couple of eggs cooked over easy. It says on the menu it came with flour tortillas. What I got, was quite simply not very good, and to be honest, very bland and seemed to be a bit sour. When my plate came out, there were 2 eggs, but they were fried so crispy that they crunched. The steak was about an ounce in weight, way over cooked, and as tough as a shoe. The beans had absolutely no flavor, and could have used a lot more salt. Not once did the aforementioned flour tortillas make an appearance. Even though I asked twice. The chilequilles, we're a mess. Basically they were some chips you get with salsa as you sit, but they were slathered in a red sauce that tasted as if it had come out of a #10 can. The chips given as you sit were warm and salted great! The Salsa Was good, it was chunky with fresh onions, cilantro, but it was lacking any heat what so ever. As if they were afraid to scare their Caucasian cutomers. Being that I'm a regular, I know the keep the Home made hot sauce in the back, so I asked for a bowl. It was smokey and hot it was delicious. My son ordered a quesadilla and fries. The kids menu says it comes with a drink. Well the bill came out with each item ala carte. $3 for fries, $8 for the quesadilla and $2.25 for the soda. Lunch for one adult and a child with tax and tip was over $30. It's going to take a lot to get me back in there, especially since there are so many really good mexican restaurants here in bluffton. I'd not tell any body to not frequent this place, but what I will say is maybe stay away from lunch, and please make sure your bill is correct. I just paid it and left disappointed.

Horrible service. Food tasted like it was cooked with bathwater. The sodas tasted like dishsoap. Waited 5 mins to be seated and the place was empty. Waitress was on cell phone and no acknowledged us. Will never return.

Likes: Clean, all English speaking employees and friendly. The menu was not over done and jam packed with everything, aesthetically pleasing decor, good happy hour margarita for $4.oo, not great. the nachos and sauces served prior to the meal were excellent. 'Dis Likes" Carnitas was small in portion and was all shredded, without the clumps of pork, which is typical for the dish/At Mi Tierra, it looked like any other white meat, it didn't have that more chunky(?) look, seared edges. The small side of guacamole was about 2 tablespoons and cost $3.50, topped with diced tomatoes..?..weird and very chincy in amount. The rice and beans were super bland, truthfully the entire meal was bland, nothing exciting or unique as to appearance, flavor or lingering sensation. For 1 drink, 1 entree and 1 small side with tip Iit cost me $25.00 which I think is too much for what I had. Cant say I will be back, as I have reviewed other Mexican places that I thought were superb. Good service and good free nachos are just not enough for me to rste this location higher.

I have eaten here twice with consistently good food and Margaritas both times. Love their Chille Relleno. The atmosphere is quaint and clean. Going again tonight!

Its always good to be in the South... you can basically guarantee there will be good Mexican and this place is SURE to deliver. Ambiance: standard of what you would expect of a Mexican joint. Booths, streamers, etc. Service: This is why this place loses a star- the servers just aren't too friendly. Either standoffish or aloof. The times I have gone here it has taken a LONG time for the servers to get chips and salsa out to the table. This is abnormal to me because generally right as you sit down you should be receiving your chips & salsa. The salsa is also not my favorite, but its not that bad. The food is really what makes this place worth coming to. I get my usual Carne Asada, and my husband gets tacos or enchiladas. My carne asada comes with a tortilla soup. The soup has avocado in it and tortilla strips, some nice chicken and a bit of other random veggies. Honestly, I wonder why this comes with the meal, but it is GOOD. One time my husband and I were here with family and his dad ordered nachos. They were AMAZING. There is something about how they prepare the chicken that is superb in all there dishes, but it really came out in the nachos dish. My carne asada is fairly standard, and here they give you FOUR flour tortillas instead of the usual 3! There just aren't enough good things to say about the food here. If I lived in SC I would be a regular here.

Best Mexican food I've found since leaving San Diego in '92. Since then I've lived in D.C., Seattle and even Ventura, Ca. Moved to Tampa 6 mos. ago and haven't found any Mex. food to like (yet), but this place rocks. Visiting family, we were looking for a fabulous restaurant for our anniversary. We passed up several local steak and seafood joints to sample this place and were sooooo glad we did. Great, simple fare at rock-bottom prices. Decor is fine, the place was clean, and the staff were all very friendly. Portions are quite generous. We had carnitas, a crunchy beef taco and a beef tamale. All were quite good. The rice and beans were well done, too. Taco shells were NOT pre-made, a big plus. Mix the tableside hot sauce into the mild salsa to kick it up. My only quibble, and it's a small one, is that they don't offer pork tamales. Now, the quest for decent Mexican food in Tampa continues.

I have lived in the Lowcountry off and on for more than 10 years. The two times I moved away, I was ready for my next life adventure with the exception that Mi Tierra, my favorite Mexican restaurant, couldn't come with me. Everything on the menu is amazing. The staff is warm and inviting. My only "complaint" is that the salsa is so fresh and mouth-watering good, that it's hard to find the self--restraint not to fill up on the chips before my entree arrives. Love them!

I wish I could give this place 4.5 stars, but only because the margaritas aren't always as strong as I would like. The food is ALWAYS fantastic and it tastes just as great every time we go. Plus, the bill is always reasonable and I leave full and happy. This is by far the best Mexican food we've had in the Savannah/Hilton Head area. Love Mi Tierra!

Great pizza. My family ordered a pair of the Especial pizzas and they were great. I had no complaints, and it was hard to decide between 4 and 5 stars.

Mi Tierra is the best Mexican restaurant South of Broad (the Bluffton and Hilton Head area). I prefer the Bluffton location to the Hilton Head location. The service is better in Bluffton. I believe the two locations are run by different branches of the same family. The family also has a location in Hardeeville, but I haven't been to that one yet. For starters, Mi Tierra knows how to make a great top shelf margarita. They stock Hornitos, Don Julio, Patron, etc. Second, the chips come out warm and the salsa fresh. The guac is always good and I like to try their various seafood dishes--ceviche, shrimp cocktail served in broth and shrimp fajitas. The hard shell tacos, with shredded beef and chicken, are also superior.

Good solid Mexican. We had chimichanga's, fajitas, tacos, margaritas, and thought it was all well served. The kids really liked it, even tasting some of the adult fare.

Best Mexican food we've had in a long time. I counted 35 types of tequila behind the bar and the margaritas were heavenly. We will come back often.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
