Great deals! Come for lunch or happy hour (4-6) to get good drink and sushi specials. The sushi is well rolled and the soup is good. My younger sister loved the hibachi chicken as well!

I hated this place. Here's why. Reviews by others coaxed us here. We trust other yelpers. Not sure if we just went on an off night or what, but I will NOT spend my money here again. A little pricier than our usual Japanese restaurant that is very good. We walked in to place an take out order. They told us 15-20 minutes. It took 55 minutes to get our order. Whatever did we order that could take that much time, let me tell you. Seafood curry and 2 spicy tuna rolls. Aost an hour. Seriously. I hated the rolls. They did not match the description and when something is titles fried spicy tuna roll, you would expect SOME part of the roll to be fried...nope. it was sloppy when I picked it up with chopsticks and fell apart too my husband had the curry and was happy with that. We visit the area and try new places to us but this one is marked off my list. We had friends order not long after us and their order took just as long. They were served with extremely over cooked beef rolls and hibachi steak.even though is was requested medium rare it came out very well done and tastes like liver. Why I'm earth this took so long I have NO IDEA. And the kicker....WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE ....AND FOR TAKE OUT!! Very unhappy and dissatisfied.

The only positive thing about this place is it's inexpensive. When I came here I order two rolls. One eel, and the other smoked salmon. I specifically told the waitress no cucumber in the eel and afterwards i said no cucumber or cream cheese in any of my rolls. Well, I ended up getting a load of cucumber in salmon roll, barely any salmon in it. When i told her i didn't want any cucumber, she said you didn't want it in your eel. I said no cucumber at all. She gave me an attitude and she said she will change the order. Later on, she went to say negative things about me in Japanese to the sushi chef who was standing right in front of me. I understood her because I know a little Japanese myself. Frankly, I hate to give a business a bad review but if business has an attitude problem, then they deserve it.

my husband and i must have gone on a off night.. it was a Tuesday and we where the only people there. I ordered three rolls and the hubs got hibachi, both of us got the mushroom soup which was lack luster, unfortunately his was amazing but my three rolls where terrible, two of the three had no flavor at all and the third had flavor but was fishy. I had no idea how bad everything was until I got home later that night and spent most of the evening throwing up. we went because of the rave reviews we found here on Yelp but we will not be returning.

Worst sushi I have had in along time. Even the cucumber roll was bad (I didn't think that was even possible.) yuck

I have to say I went by the reviews from yelp prior to going to this place attempted to call several times to order my food ahead of time with no answer it just rang the place was only a short distance where I was so I went to place my order the staff at the desk was rude when I attempted to order something that was on their menu that she said they never had even when I showed her it was in the menu she basically blew me off ..the place was empty and run down and the food was unfortunately not what I expected I will not be going back

Been sitting here for almost 2 hours waiting for our food! Awful service. One hostess/waitress for entire restaurant on Valentines Day/Saturday night.Too bad because in the past food has been good.

Quiet. Quaint. Excellent staff and fabulous sushi. Doesn't really get better than this around here. And I'm terribly picky.

I live in Charleston but work in Bluffton from time to time. I've always passed Fujiyama and finally went. My co-worker and I went for dinner around 8pm. We were the only people in the restaurant which made us a little apprehensive. We were quickly proven wrong. The service and food was delicious. I'll definitely be making it a place I visit when working nearby. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that they were out of a few beers that were listed on the menu.

I went to Fujiyama years ago when it first opened...gave it a rave rating then. I am now back in town after being gone for a few years so I decided to try it again. The Spicy Kani salad is a must have and is still good. The bottom line, the food is still good but the surroundings have seemed to go downhill. It somehow has gotten dingy...from the hanging sign outside that has fallen over and has turned green with mold...to the inside where it just looks tired now. It looks like a dying restaurant....but its not because of the food or the service. They are both quite good. The owners should just stop and spruce it up...and advertise. This is a hidden gem....hope it doesn't die.

We read the reviews but were still a bit hesitant as it's in the Piggly Wiggly shopping center. Once we saw the menu, we relaxed. And when we tried the Japanese pickles, we knew we were in for a treat. (Note: I usually don't like cukes or pickles but these were very good, sweet even.) Excellent selection of rolls, including some unusual ones (Lobster and peanut?) I forgot I wanted this and got the mango. A nice roll with neat pieces of mango, without too much rice and a nice flavor. Presentation was very attractive and simple Rolls were served one at a time, different from what I'm used to, but it worked! A very small number of sakes. Staff was attentive and nice. Ending with sliced oranges rounded out a quiet, pleasant dinner experience. Go enjoy downtown Beaufort and finish it up with a meal here on your way back to HHI, 15 minutes away.

Great place - yummy sushi. Also, great for lunch, the Hibatchi lunch specials and Bento boxes are very good. The staff is wonderful, it's very clean and it is a great place to take my toddler. Very kid friendly :)

If you want fresh sushi this is the place. Everything was just delicious. The gyoza was fantastic. The white tuna sashimi was my favorite.

I absolutely love their sushi. It is the best I have tasted in the States by far. Their waitstaff is kind, non-intrusive and diligent. Truth-be-told, if all they had was sushi, they'd get a five star rating. Their other food offerings are okay, but nothing absolutely great. Their lunch 'boxes' during the week are perfectly proportioned. It is a touch pricey, but not for the sushi. The sushi is worth a lot more.

Fuji Yama has the best sushi and Japanese food in Hilton Head without the touristy crowds of places like Kurama. The service was excellent even though the timing of when the food came out wasn't perfect. My sister had the Hibachi steak which was quite a bit better than the dishes in most touristy Hibachi places. The rest of my family had some of the special sushi rolls. The rolls didn't look too spectacular and the sauce was kind of sloshed on, but they tasted better than most USA-style sushi rolls do. Free Japanese pickles came as an appetizer and free oranges came as dessert (a good bonus). The restaurant was clean, quiet and friendly. If you want to eat Japanese in Hilton Head/Bluffton, come here first.

Very clean place and great service. Super nice people. A bit too much money for the size of the sushi. My sister and I got 4 rolls and a shumai and it was 62 dollars. I don't pay that much at Katsuya in Los Angeles where I live. If you don't mind paying a lot, then this is the place to go.

I had the maki roll lunch special and my wife had the hibachi. We both thought it was ok. My wife said next time she would ask them not to put so much sauce on her chicken and veggies. The service was great and quick. We went around 2pm so there weren't many people there. We'll probably go back again.

We had an assortment of 5 rolls, including two of the special rolls. All were delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the ambiance was serene. We are from out of town and were glad to find a nearby sushi spot for a late lunch.

I wish I knew the Japanese word for phenomenal or stupendous (or any Japanese word for that matter!). We decided to venture out of Hilton Head to go to Fujiyama due to the reviews (thanks fellow yelpsters!). The staff was incredibly kind and patient as we looked over the menu of 2,350.6 different types of sushi rolls. Service was fast, food was beautiful and some of the most delicious sushi I have experienced. We had a generous sampling of various rolls, if you go I personally suggest the jumbo lobster roll( if I were a lobster, I'd aspire to be in this dish rather than a nasty ol' red lobster boiling pot). It has such a great, fresh flavor and wonderful spicy-yummy-lick the plate sauce. There are also standard rolls and typical japanese dishes such as teriyaki chicken etc. and a hibachi grill for the sushi faint of heart. They offer wonderful appetizers (tempura shrimp and vegetables and roasted duck spring roll are the bee's knees) and good soups. Don't worry about bringing cash, they accept cards, and vise versa if you are adverse to charging everything and almost peeing your pants when you get the statement. All in all, this was an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. Domo Arigato Fujiyama! We love you!

Went there yesterday (Sunday) at 2:30 in the afternoon. The sushi was sensational!! Good portions, excellently prepared. The salmon and tuna tasted remarkably fresh. The tempura shrimp and crab were perfectly cooked and the shells dissolved in my mouth. This is our new local sushi joint!
