We had lunch on the patio. It was nice except the bar blocked the view. Both our sandwiches, the blackened fish and the artichoke panini, were terrible. The pasta salad wasn't good either. The waitress was pleasant but did not ask why we did not eat our food. Price was not unreasonable but since we didn't eat, it was a very poor value.

On a family visit to Fripp Island we decided to spend an evening in downtown Beaufort and dine at Panini's. *BTW I must say that is my first experience dwntwn Beaufort and I thought it was a very charming, pleasing feel on Bay Street and surrounding blocks* For starters the traditional Sangria was our beginning taste and it was a very refreshing and solid version of the favored cocktail. The food was very good, and flavorful and not stingy on the garlic (which is essential). Any Italian restaurant that you can and should order spaghetti marinara with the meatballs is a good italian restaurant airing on the side of authentic. The pizzas are very unique and full of choices and flavors as well. The overall atmosphere and ambiance is very *sigh-smile*, in the dining area in eye and ear shot of the pizza oven, with a dark wooded eye pleasing bar. Not to mention a great outdoor patio overlooking the water. But get there early if you would like to sit there on a warm day. Service: Now I generally mention service when it stands out in one way or another. In this case Our waiter was very efficient and attentive, but Mr. Grumpypants was not a friendly dude. When my father, who had forgotten his glasses asked the waiter if they had a specific genre of wine that would be good...instead of politely answering specifically like a good waiter should, and directing him to the wine list in a kind Vana White sort of way..he basically just unhelpfully instructed my father to look at the menu... Now we have all had "that" server...and as a former server and bartender knowing the behind the scenes perspective..If I owned Panini's and I knew one of my servers did the whole "what does the menu say" thing to a customer, no matter how bad a day they might be having, I would fire his or her ASS faster than you can say "order up." Myself sitting on the end, he was lucky he didnt get my fist to his balls. Try to say Chardonnay 8 ochtaves higher than you are used to. But alas his involvement in the evening was limited, and the Hostess staff greeted us kindly and friendly. All in all Panini's was a great Italian, southern experience. Ciao Y'all,

This is our favorite Italian restaurant in the area. We have been each of the last 4yrs during vacation. The food is usually very good and priced reasonably for a tourist area. We have experienced some of every thing on the menu from pasta and pizza to even the steak. However, our steak came out over cooked, but they promptly provided another cooked right, which actually appeared to be larger than the first one.

Definitely a treasure spot in the heart of downtown Beaufort! My family and I stumbled upon this gem in the city after an exhilarating yet exhausting day at the Beaufort air show. On a quest for authentic eating we tried our hands at Panini's Cafe. After wandering aimlessly and a couple of recomendations from the locals we stepped into this oasis on the river. The seating options allowed for outoor dining or inside with tables or booths and they're canine frienbly to boot! We had the signature She-crab soup and it was she bang-bang! Succulent creamy with chunks of real crab meat. Packed with flavor and a hometown southern touch. The facility is spacious and the wait staff was friendly and upbeat. After soliciting my server for his personal favorite meal at the place, with enthusiasm he suggested the cheesesteak hoagie. The sandwich was delecious! I give it an A- only because the prime rib meat was a pinch salty for my taste. Aside from that the cheese was perfectly melted and fused brilliantly to round off a wonderful day of eating on the river with family. Definitely will be back if ever in town for another visit.

My food was really not that great. Had some type of lobster tortellini. The sauce was made from too much concentrated tomato paste mixed with cream. That's really what it tasted like. Not what you would expect from a professional chef... Wine was also not good. The service was friendly. The atmosphere in the whole place felt empty though and not really inviting... There were hardly any people on a Friday night at around 9pm.

First time I have been here and I thought the food was pretty good. I had a mixed green salad and she crab soup. I had a great waitress named Sierra.

We have been coming to the Beaufort area for over twelve years and always enjoy coming to Panini's cafe. It seems in the last couple years the service and food has gone down hill. We ate dinner at Panini's tonight and overall it was just alright. There were hits and misses through out the meal. We must have had a new waitress which was totally fine as she was very sweet and as attentive as she could be. That being said the service was shaky at best. We received our appetizers before our drinks came out. The appetizers came with no small plates. We had ordered the antipasto and the calamari. The calamari was excellent but the antipasto was subpar. The meat tasted like packaged lunch meat. My mom and I and my sister were sharing the white wine sangria pitcher ($21). The pitcher was packed with mostly ice and our wine glasses were equally packed with ice. The sangria tasted like orange juice that had been watered down. We asked the waitress if there was anyway we could have it remade. After talking to the bartender (who claimed a whole bottle of white wine had been poured into the pitcher) the waitress couldn't do anything except add more sangria mix. It ended up tasting like more potent orange juice. The sangria was not worth the price whatsoever. Two of us ordered pizza (not good, no flavor and frozen veggies were used). The frogmore pasta was exceptional and delicious. The shrimp cheese steak sandwich was also excellent. My boyfriend had the pork entree which he enjoyed but lacked flavor. All in all the meal was not worth the price. Hopefully, the cafe hires a new chef and trains their waters and waitresses more extensively.

I have looked forward to eating here for a while but found it to be a disappointment. Our party of three was quickly seated at a table outside. The edge of the canopy was dripping the previous nights rain, making the perimeter a bit messy. Service was unbelievably overbearing. The waitress asked us 4 times if we were ready to order. When we said " we need just a few minutes" she was back table side almost immediately. She then checked on us excessively. It was hard to communicate with my friends. I think we would have had a hard time speaking in Haiku. Somehow though, we never had drinks or silverware. The antipasti plate was just cheap lunch meat rolled up served with cheap bottled olives. My omelet was so overlooked it was inedible. Would not recommend.

If it wasn't for the views of the dock, this place would not be there. Food is so so, price is very high for what you get, service is slow, place needs a face lift, especially outside area. This is a place you try once, but never go back. For such a beautiful town, this place needs to change In order to attract visitors who love to eat. Charleston and surrounding towns require the best in eateries. This is not it. Frank G

My boyfriend got severe food poisoning from Italian sausage hoagie!!! Do not eat! I had flat bread and it was good and I was fine. He got staph infection and had to go to ER and has been severely sick for many days. Good restaurant but beware of undercooked meats.

Fried Lobster and Prime Rib hoagie with house pasta salad. Amazing food. My party also had homemade manicotti, house pizza and blackened flounder hoagie. Great atmosphere and service as well. Do not pass up an opportunity to eat here.

Have the shrimp and grits! It's amazing! We sat inside since it was cool outside and it was quieter then the patio and the nice jazz music made it very pleasant. Jesse is very a good waiter . Go here !

Rough day. This made up for just about all of it. Next time dessert! Pear mesclun salad and the Tuscan pizza with Shiraz! Half price night on bottles so I went for it! Great job Julia my lovely waitress!!

  • Linda O.

Will go elsewhere in the future. It has become way overpriced for only fair quality and portions. Nothing was spectacular. Service was average at best. They charge fine dining prices and deliver mediocre food and service. Nice atmosphere though. I was disappointed because when I was here two years ago it was good and the reason I came back. Second visit=last visit.

Stopped in for dinner while on vacation. The calamari came with two unique and tasty sauces. Both my husband and I got pizza, and not only was it delicious, but it turned out Monday is half price pizza night! Our server was friendly, and the atmosphere was pretty cool.

Had,a great time celebrating a coworker's retirement dinner. The food and wine were a perfect blend with terrific service and a view of the Beaufort Waterfront that was to die for!

  • Terry A.

Had lunch there today and while the service was excellent & the personnel were very friendly I think the food is a bit over priced. I had soup & salad..the amount of soup could have only barely been a cup for $5 and the small "garden" salad was nothing more than lettuce, cheese & small square croutons that were hard as a rock & cost $4. $9 for a cup of soup & some lettuce with cheese. Some tomato & cucumber in the salad would have been nice.

I am not sure where too start, but I was too meet a friend at Panini's, I went and sat down in there outdoor section, and one person came up and ask me to be help and I said I needed a menu, she walked away and another person came up with menu's in hand, and she proceeded to tell me that I would have an hour to eat my meal and if I sat here for more than an hour that they charge $25/hr to sit in the outdoor area, and I said I am waiting for a friend and then she said its $25 per person....now I have never been ask to pay to eat at a restaurant regardless of how much time it took me too eat my meal...so I told her no I would not pay got up met my friend walked down to another restaurant and they gladly served me and took my $100.00 that I spent on that meal that evening. So I have no clue what is up with this restaurant or there staff but clearly you cannot make this up, Sad part is I drove 75 miles to eat at this restaurant to meet a friend and this was my introduction too Beaufort waterfront dining.

I think the food is delicious. Brunch unlimited mimosas. Sitting out on the deck with friends overlooking the harbor. Great atmosphere. The server did take my plate before I finished, lol.

My official rating is a 3.5. My girlfriend and I stopped here for an early dinner time, small/quick bite before heading back to Charlotte. We sat on the deck out back which was nice except for the large wooden bar obstructing a clean view of the water. The peach beer was tasty and the Mediterranean pizza was very good. Prices are fair and service was good.

We stopped by here after a walking tour of town. Sit upstairs for a water view. They serve fresh bread sticks with olive oil and little ramekins of olive oil seasonings like oregano and Parmesan cheese- fun! The evening we went they were out of a lot of their wines by the glass but they have a great beer draft selection eg RJ Rockers and Sweetwater. The service was friendly and very attentive. We would go back!

We are here on vacation and happened to eat here the last two nights. By the way Sunday is prime rib night and Monday is half price pizza night. The prime rib was very tasty. The pizza was excellent! We had the Mediterranean and the Sicilian. The latter was very spicy and the preserved lemon was a nice surprise.

The food was very tasty and plentiful to say the least. The drinks are the only thing lacking. Very small martinis. Will definitely return for the fries!!

Great service. Surf and turf cheese steak was amazing!! Not a big beer selection on tap. The chairs at the bar stained my white shirt so watch out for that

  • Jeff O.

The service here was excellent. My family hosted my brothers rehearsal dinner for 45 people here and we had an overall remarkable experience. The management team was very accommodating with allowing space for a slide presentation. The food was impressive --loved the shrimp and grits

  • Leo B.

Love the atmosphere! Bar was very homey and inviting! Ambience is quite unique having been previously a bank. Large arched window adds to the character. I had the King Neptune pizza-excellent thin crust-loaded with seafood! Nice touch with condiments of oregano, pepper and Parmesan cheese. Beware if the portion size-the Shrimp BLT panini was huge-could have shared! Cinnamon Pillows were a big hit-portion was easily shareable amongst four people!

Great service. Great food. Reasonable prices. Just enough variety on the menu to please anyone without a lot of unnecessary items. I tried to find something to complain about but I can't. Highly recommended!

I was born and raised in South Carolina and Panini's has the best shrimp and grits I've ever tasted. I've actually been here quite a few times and got the Mediterranean shrimp and grits every time. This place has never disappointed me. Great drinks, location, service, and night life too!

This place is really good. When we first moved here this was the best restaurant in Beaufort. They have taken a step back, are still pretty darn good. I love the shrimp Mac and cheese. It has prosciutto, and is the best thing on the menu. The antipasto is good for staters and I love the she crab soup. This place is dependable as go to dinner spot.

  • Leia H.

Great selection of local fare on their menu, there is a lunch menu as well as a dinner menu, they accommodated our party of 9 at the last minute and did wonderful! Their Mac n cheese with shrimp comes in a really cute mini cast iron, full bar, pizza oven :)

Food was good, service was so-so. Dog friendly on patio, which was huge for us. Even have a canine menu.

    (3)
  • Dee S.

Service was not important today. The most unfriendly hostess in the state. No one waited on us after 15 minutes we left. There are way more places where I can spend my money.

Good brick oven pizza and very dog friendly. First place I seen with dog menue.

Went here for a quick lunch on my way through the area. I ordered the calamari and the crab and shrimp BLT panini. The calamari was decent and the panini was less the meh. I guess I expected a lot more since it's a coastal area and I though the seafood would be amazing. The service was really good though. The wait staff is super friendly so it was worth the trip for the view and courteous staff.

My wife and I went to Panini's with another couple. We arrived early; before the rush. The food was just OK and the service was fair to poor. We came in the back door and were sent to the front to the hostess station to be seated. The hostess was no where to be seen and we waited for several minutes before the girl who sent us to the front came up and explained that the hostess was busy and seated us. Once we were seated, the waitress came around for our drink order. I asked for a Coke Zero, she explained that they didn't have it and I understood and ordered a water with lemon. A little later as I walked past the drink cooler (three to four steps from the table), I saw bottles of Coke Zero. I asked for one. Several minutes later, the waitress said she had not forgotten about me (which I took to mean that she had forgotten and just remembered). A few minutes later, she delivered the 20oz bottle of Coke Zero from the cooler, no glass of ice on the side, not opened, just the bottle. She also left water glasses unfilled several times. Strangely enough, the waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about the large selection of craft beers on tap that our table-mates ordered. The pizza was just OK. The toppings on our table-mates' pizza were all confused and not what they had ordered. Their pizza was delivered several minutes after ours. The wait for a new one would have meant them watching us eat or our pizza getting colder than it already was. The pizza my wife and I had ordered wasn't that hot to begin with and had an off taste. My wife commented that it had a plastic taste to it. As we were leaving, there was a line to get in. I hope this isn't one of the best places in Beaufort as it is a great town and we hope to return; though not returning to Panini's.

This was our second visit to Panini's and we couldn't be happier with the food or service! Our waiter was Darrel. A real pro.

    (3)
  • Shawnna S.

The space is impressive. It ends there. Just chose it randomly while visiting town for the first time. Service was poor. Menu items had been deleted which should have been communicated when the menu is delivered not after I had decided that said item was the only thing the I cared to have. Had to get up to search out silverware and plates under witness by servers who offered no help or even comment when I retrieved them from abandon hostess stand. Cocktail menu was irrelevant once the bartender revealed that she had no experience . Food was mediocre at best.

  • Paul B.

A decent lunch spot. We ordered two different pain is which arrived in good time. They were over-filled for our tastes, and the bread was a little weird. Like biscuit-y. Anyway, it's affordable, quick, and the services was good.

  • Cindy B.

Great anti pasta and Italian hoagie... Light refreshing....very enjoyable atmosphere pasta salad had a nice twist of orange added to it!!! Will definitely eat here on our next trip through...

    (5)
  • Lee K.

The food was average and nothing really more. The crab and shrimp panini didn't taste very fresh and didn't have much going for it in the way of creativity. We also ordered a pizza for the kids and they brought out three pizzas instead of 1 pushing the bill of our lunch to $70. A little pricey for an average lunch. Will not be going back here again.

  • Stephen L.

Great spot to bring the dog! They have outdoor seating a dog food menu with 4-5 choices. I've been twice and all the food we've ordered was pretty tasty as well. I haven't been there on the weekend but I heard the outdoor bar has a sometimes rough crowd...

    (4)
  • Carolyn C.

Very disappointed that outside seating has a big ugly bar blocking the river view. Roasted chicken salad panini could have been great had the chicken been cut into smaller pieces, but as it was did not satisfy my desire for chicken salad. Pasta salad had a very nice flavor. Service was excellent.

  • Amy L.

Shocked when we sat down and realized that you couldn't order a panini after 4. Isn't that the name of the place? Food was good. Prices high. Waiter brought sliced Italian bread to table with olive oil. A dish with spices and parmesan cheese arrived shortly afterwards. Family enjoyed fettuccine Alfredo, calzone, and manicotti. Shrimp Parmesan was different then menu description and a bit disappointing. Inside had excellent A/C. Wait staff was good, not great.

Second visit to this place and likely the last. Awful service yesterday evening with a rude, unfriendly and indifferent waitress. Left a tip of $0.00 and clearly marked on my receipt so she wouldn't think I 'forgot to tip.' Food was mediocre...but the kicker was no lighting outside...of course when we iniitally sat outside, there was plenty of light but as the evening came, nothing...but darkness. The waitress said "Guess they haven't gotten around to putting up lights."

    (1)
  • Stephanie S.

2 stars for the food only, we had the Italian sausage and white bean (decent), pizza crust had way too much yeast in it. They made an effort for the toppings but it just didn't work. I guess pizza isn't that easy to make. The wait staff was efficient and certainly top of their game but in the end the food was mediocre.

  • Ben W.

Went with the crab and shrimp panini prior to reading the latest reviews and I am glad I did. The sandwich was amazing! Really huge portion and it was really fresh seafood. I also had the mixed green salad as a starter and even the small was quite a large portion. My wife had the Alfredo and the only complaint she had was in desperate need of salt. Great and friendly service which brought my dog a bowl of water before we even asked. We will be retuning!

  • E L.

We stopped in for lunch and had a shrimp and crab Panini. Both the shrimp and crab tasted as if they'd just been caught and the bread freshly baked. It was delicious. The iced tea was average and since it was extremely busy and the place was slammed the waiters and waitresses were running around with their heads cut off. There was a mix-up on our order and in getting it ironed out the manager could have been a little more polite but considering that everything worked our for the best and the food was delicious we chose to over-look his poor customer relations. The waiter on the other hand was extremely polite. We would return if only for another shrimp and crab Panini.

  • Cameron C.

Food was tasty. I had the Pepperoni Panini. Four of us, with one desert was $52. Disappointed in the Creme Brûlée, it has a trace of something, perhaps lavender. Also, the caramelized sugar top was almost none existent. I prefer mine to have a hard crunchy shell.

    (4)
  • Mark B.

Great dining experience. Server Julia was prompt, efficient and made us feel right at home. Wife had the shrimp and grits which were unique and awesome. I had the linguini and clam sauce which were equally as tasty while a bit small portion wise. We'll be back!

    (5)
  • Doug S.

Based on previous reviews, our experience just didn't match! Food was average, at best, despite not getting it right the first time. Service was below average with long waits, between service and lack of knowledge of the menu. Blame it on a Sunday evening if you will but if that's the best you've got........don't bother opening!

    (2)
  • Stacey M.

Lovely place with an option to sit outside with a nice view of the water. Portions here are great! Definitely happy to come home with extra! Food was amazing! I wanted to resist ordering the Alfredo since its something I always get but since you could add crab, thank goodness I didn't skip out on it because it's one of the best alfredos I've ever tasted! Also service is great! Our server was nice and friendly and very attentive. We enjoyed our time and will definitely come again!

Very good lunch spot. Good salads, panini's & pizza. We had a 4 piece pizza for appetizer & then a crab & shrimp panini. Also we were lucky to have Jennifer as our server. She is very fast, has great recommendations & completely on top of service throughout. I offered her a job if she would move to San Diego.

Calamari was not bad. Everything else we had was average to below average. Our party tried margarita & blanco pizzas, shrimp cheesesteak & meatball hoagies, and shrimp salad. Service and ambiance was good.

Food = 2 Price = 2 (I'm tired of paying too much for crappy food) Experience = 1 (I always check out the bathrooms before I eat at a new place... You'll have the urge to throw up if you do that here. It's terribly nasty down there... be careful on the slippery steps too.) This place has seen better days... the late night outside disco and cigarette butts everywhere are a sure sign.

Out of this world food! The Palermo pizza and almond crusted honey drizzled calamari are a great surprise in this cute small town!

We enjoyed a drink at the outside bar earlier in the evening, which sits at the very back overlooking the waterfront park and the Beaufort River waterfront. Lovely setting, marred only slightly by the biannual Love Bug infestation ( beaufortcountylibrary.or… ). We ate later inside, a very attractive space in a converted classic bank building. Service was friendly and attentive. We shared a large Mixed Green Salad that had poached pears, walnuts, Kalamata Olives and dressed- but not drenched- with a tasty lemon vinaigrette. We asked them to leave out the Gorgonzola cheese as we eat vegan. We opted for the large Mediterranean pizza, which had olives, eggplant, artichoke, onion, dried tomato, roasted garlic, olive oil, mushrooms, roasted red peppers. we asked them to leave of the mozzarella and optional anchovy. The pizza was very good but we have had better crusts (we are lucky to live in a west coast city with exceptional pizza options). But I would venture that for most folks, this will be a cut above what they have available locally. The wine menu had a good range of choices and were fairly priced.

This place was amazing. Our server (Amanda) was funny, extremely helpful with picking dinner and kept our glasses full. We came in on a Sunday night so we pretty much had the place to ourselves and had our pick of seats. We will eat here every chance we get.

Was looking for a place to have lunch in the area, and happened to stumble into this restaurant after searching for a while. The front and inside of the building are beautiful! We were seated on the second level, with a nice view of the ocean! I had a panini and my friend had a calzone. Both were pretty decent! We asked our server what we could go see in the area, and she responded with an amusing (and semi-racist) anecdote regarding the aftermath of the Civil War.

VERY DISAPPOINTING! In the past our experience at Panini's ranged from excellent (9 years ago) to okay (more recently). But last night was plain bad. Our 19 year old grandson is visiting us from the West Coast. He leaves to go back today, so we gave him Yelp for Beaufort and said "find some place that looks good to you." He picked Panini's, and we thought that is safe; it won't be bad. To be fair, the weather kept us inside and a very loud raucous party upstairs and an uninspired singer downstairs were not helpful setters for atmosphere. Our server was very attentive, perhaps a little too attentive, but she would get four stars for her friendliness and for putting up with the laggardly way we slowly got around to ordering. Obviously, the problem wasn't the service. It was the food. The hot bread sticks and olive oil were wonderful. After that, the meal went down the slippery slope to dreadful. The slide began with my pizza which was in the okay range, but frankly, I would have preferred the round pizza which Panini's disparages. The crust was more like a water cracker than pizza dough, and there was a lot more crust than the toppings could cover. The first bad sign was the mixed green salad with Gorgonzola, olives, and other wonderful ingredients that we couldn't taste because of way too much vinegar in the dressing. We ate about one-fourth of the salads and gave up. We have had this salad before, and it was good then, but not tonight. The slide got more slippery with Grandson's Carne Pizza which was supposed to have Chorizo Sausage, ham and bacon. If one considers prepackaged bacon bits the equivalent of bacon (even McDonalds does marginally better than that) then the pizza satisfied two-thirds of the carne, but there was no sausage. Panini's, undoubtedly, would have brought him some sausage to spread over the pizza, but because of my wife's soon to be described dinner, none of us trusted anything coming out of the kitchen. Maybe it was the third string kitchen staff filling in after the holidays, but it was clear that the folks in the back room were not up to the veal scalopinni, Marsala. To begin with, the veal had not been pounded. It was a thick, tough, chewy, fatty chunk of veal. The Marsala was either omitted entirely or so sparingly applied as to be virtually nonexistent. The garlic was too liberally applied in large chunks. My wife ate a small portion of one of the pieces, asked for a doggy bag (for our dog) and we fled for home. No dessert, no coffee, no after dinner liquor. We may go back again sometime in the Spring to sit on the deck and have a beer, but no time soon.

I've been here a couple times, I don't remember the first time it was a blur. But last time is was alright, the pizza could be a little crisper to be honest. Wow I just went to the website to check the menu to jog my memory, but that website is the worst! I'll probably go back, but it's ok. There are many other great restaurants in the area to try .

We went here with another couple specifically for the gluten free and vegetarian options. The food was meh, the sangria was tasty but watered down, and my husband and I both got sick after. We will not go here again.

It was just okay - nothing special. The Panini and Pasta we ordered were nothing to rave about. Service was pretty slow too.

Sangria was weak! Shrimp and grits were just ok. Frogmore Penne is also just ok. My child's chicken fingers and fries were good. Overall, not worth the price.

Didn't leave disappointed. I never did like going to church on Sundays, but I always looked forward to stopping by here afterward. Usually got chicken fingers and fries but once I started branching out (I can be a picky eater) I was pleasantly surprised. Their pastas are great, and the sauce never overpower the dish. Wasn't ever too salty either. Always pretty spot on. And the pizzas are very flavorful. Server was polite and fast, took time to answer questions. And the view from the restaurant is beautiful. I prefer sitting on the second floor, if only for the view.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I had an artichoke panini and it was better than average. The others with me all enjoyed their food. Great location and setting. Bathrooms needed tending to. I will go back.

On an afternoon in the Waterfront Park, we decided to grab a bite to eat. Not too many places were open - or appetizing - but we decided that we'd settle on Panini's, based mostly on the reviews. Ultimately, we are glad we did. There we really only one complaint - it took us a while to be seated. That's not a huge problem, and if there was a line, it wouldn't be a problem at all. But there was no one in front, and there were plenty of seats. They just took forever to get their act together. Once seated, the experience was great. Servers were attentive, suggestions were made (even mixing multiple of the specialty pizzas to create a unique one), and all of the food was excellent. I will say that the "Panini" isn't really what most people think of as such. It's more of a hoagie (sub, what have you). And there is plenty of garlic. That's not bad - just be ready for it.

Two visits so far. We loved the almond crusted calamari with burnt honey. Even though it was a little over cooked and therefore tough, which is usually unforgivable for us, the flavor of the calamari with the honey was amazing. Both the Carne and King Neptune pizzas were so good. I am not a huge fan of sausage, but the chorizo on the Carne was mouthwatering. I was not a huge fan of the surf and turf cheese steak. The lobster part was very tasty, but the steak was bland and tough and the bread was to soggy to be bothered with.

Still inconsistent. Took my brother and wife for lunch. His shrimp and grits were good. My pizza was terrible. The anchovies were rancid and most of the ingredients (olives, peppers) had come from a can. Someday a restaurant in Beaufort will try to do everything in a first rate manner. Paininni's has been around for a while so it probably won't be the one. Slow kitchen, slow service.

Located in the old Beaufort Bank building on the waterfront, Panini's serves up delicious food with a side of charm. The water views and beachside-looking bar on the patio make lunch here instantly calming. I started with a mango bellini (they also had peach and pear), which was large and in charge. "I like this place already," I thought to myself. I had the tomato panini with basil pesto and mozzarella, which came with a side of lemony pasta salad. The bread was fresh and crispy, which made the sandwich totally enjoyable. Our server was friendly and he definitely won points with me when he asked if we wanted some waters to take with us. Overall, the value and quality at Panini's is very good. If you don't make it here for lunch or dinner, then definitely stop by and have a drink at the patio bar.

Calamari has a nice sweet breading that would be perfect for hushpuppies. I would not order it again. Crunchy tentacles with a couple pieces I had to spit out. I ended up throwing most of it away. Ordered panini sandwich - pepperoni and chicken. Very dry and the cheese was cold and globby. I also found two hairs in my pasta salad. Even though I was very disappointed in the food, the service, decor, and location were very nice.

I love to come to this place for lunch when I'm in town for business!! It has a great variety on the menu. I always get a standard panini or the chicken salad. I love the pasta salad, too. The vinigrette that it is tossed in is very refreshing and light. My dad loves the custom pizza's that are cooked right in front of you!!

We had dinner for 4 here tonight after our Daughters graduation from the Marines today. We treated her to a relaxing day at the Beaufort Day Spa which she thoroughly enjoyed, and they recommended a few dinner spots, Panini was one. Unfortunately after dining there we did not have an experience worth recommending. Crab Bisque is very good, mixed greens with peaches, gorgonzola, walnuts also good. Pasta was average. There were multiple reasons to keep us from ever returning or recommending this place. Loud obnoxious music blaring from a Wedding nearby, patio needs paint and repair, restaurant feels dirty. We actually saw a huge cockroach inches from my husbands neck behind him on the railing. View Of waterfront is obstructed, half view is of the worn down parking area behind a neighboring restaurant. Service is severely lacking. We waited 1 hr and only got our appetizer. 20 minutes later our entrees. Lots of apologies from our very nervously awkward (but sweet) waiter. At one point both the Waiter and Mgr came over and said they were so embarrassed by the long wait that they offered dessert on the house. Later when we finally got around to getting dessert they said were only offering dessert to 2 of 4 in our party. That was insulting, and simply poor customer service. Meal came to $105 and we still tipped 20% but that was a gift. Go to Que instead,

After a long overnight offshore passage (sailing), we were tired and grubby, but as per our usual, unwilling to eat boring food. Panini's Cafe is the first restaurant one encounters after leaving the Downtown Marina, but it looked a bit too polished for our extremely casual state, and we went hunting further down the street. (It should be noted that the hostess had tried to reassure us that it would have been fine, and was further helpful with suggestions when we asked her where else we might go.) Having rejected everyone else, and having wandered by Panini's waterside entrance, and past a bunch of delicious looking thin-crust pizzas, we ended up where we started, and then opted to eat upstairs rather than wait another 30 minutes for an outdoor table. Things started out promisingly, with a pretty presentation of olive oil infused with parmesan(?) shreds and roasted garlic cloves, served in a wooden mortar along with thin slices of good bread. The waitress needed to duck back into the kitchen to refresh her memory on all the items on the tapas sampler, but given how many items were included, it wasn't surprising. This is what we ordered: Starter: "Bologna and Cheese" $8 Flash Fried Mortadella stuffed with Ricotta and Raisins, Tomato Coulli The first attempt at this came out of the kitchen fried *to death*. Calling the mortadella "leathery" would be an insult to most leather. Being hungry, we ate all but a bite of it before realizing we were grousing about it so much that we really should say something to our waitress. She was reluctant to offer to solve the problem in any way, but decided to present the issue to the manager to see what she'd do. We got another portion of it. I'm glad we did, because it was delicious. Unusual and well executed, and fun to eat. We sopped up the sauce with some bread. Pizzas: Palermo Small $9.00 ~ Large $17 Roasted Chicken, Dried Tomato, Preserved Lemon, Pesto and Mozzarella WOW. Strips of preserved lemon peel (not Moroccan style) really set off the flavors here, and the crust was amazing, in the best tradition of brick oven thin crusts - crispy and chewy and toasty. Insalada Small $9.00 ~ Large $17 Caramelized Onions, Roasted Garlic, Mozzarella, Salad of Kalamata Olives & Crisp Romaine with Creamy Tomato Dressing We were surprised by this, because we'd managed to miss that it was a salad on top of a pizza crust. We'd ordered it expecting a bowl of salad. Spicy and creamy and just plain excellent. The contrast of cool greens and hot, crunchy bread was like a re-imagined caesar salad. Took most of it home for breakfast, and enjoyed it the next day even with wilted romaine and floppy crust. All in all, not cheap, but really stunningly good. Four stars because the service was slow and occasionally grudging (I'd have given them 3 stars based on that) but the food was so fantastic. An unexpected treasure, and one we'll remember fondly for quite some time. Edited to add: Dunno why they're saying "not good for kids", we saw lots of other tables with children who were having a great time, and the restaurant is prepared with kids menus and crayons as well as highchairs and boosters. Our now 20-month old enjoyed himself off of tidbits from Mommy and Daddy's plates.

They could get 5 stars just on the service, but boy the food rates a 5 too! My family stopped here after Graduation at Parris Island. They whole staff was incredibly respectful and thankful towards my brother, which blew me away. Im sure that they see graduates every weekend, but that didn't seem to change how they treated our whole party. The service was also quick, accurate, and just plain friendly. And then the food. The food was amazing. My small pizza was full of toppings and just plain tasty. The Shrimp cheesteak smelled so good it almost made me second think the pizza. I would definitely steer anyone visiting the area to take a stop in for lunch here. While I dont see myself making it down to Beaufort anytime soon, I know when I do that I will make it a point to come here. Hats off to the food and the service!

We had a fantastic lunch here. I ordered an artichoke and mozzarella panini and my bf ordered the meatball sandwich. Those meatballs were huge! Three tennis ball sized meatballs...not a light lunch. My panini was delicious, and the pasta salad served with it was equally as good. I imagine dinner here would be a good time.

Wouldn't serve us dinner at 9pm on a Saturday. The food here was pretty good, but that was a huge disappointment. Even had the nerve to tell us that "business was slow" even though they had seated and served a number of tables.

Another one of my local favorites, Panini's is a wonderful place to go to eat in Beaufort for fans of Italian food. The building itself is beautiful, and they offer seating on the second floor and outside on the patio as well for those who want to take in the waterfront view. The pizza here is really good and they have a pretty good selection of gourmet toppings. I always make sure I get a house salad here, because of the creamy tomato dressing and the kalamata olive puree they put on the side. The bartenders here are always fast and friendly, and the servers attentive and speedy.

The service here was great, we were with a couple with a little boy & the environment was good children, yet fancy too! As a NYer I wasn't overly impressed by the pizza, but I am under the impression that if you want good pizza down here, it's the place to go! However, I was very impressed by the Alfredo pasta, normally a dish like places just toss in some unflavored chicken, and the chicken in this dish had great flavor. I would also recommend the soft sangria, the spices in it were a very nice touch.

Panini's is my family's favorite lunch spot when we're in downtown Beaufort. They offer great pizza and paninis (obviously) as well as specialty drinks and salads. The onion bisque is divine and I'm always tempted to order it even on the hottest summer days. The restaurant has a wonderful outdoor porch right along the waterfront where you can watch the boats come in and out of the harbor. If it's too hot to sit outside they have great views from the upstairs portion of the restaurant. Service is usually pretty good, but not great. I think the majority of the waitstaff is local highschool kids and therefore you aren't getting the same service as you'd receive from "professionals." Still, things are good and we definitely will continue to return.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
