I decided to give Mama Penn's a shot, and I am glad that I did. Prices are amazing considering the amount of food that you get, the food was out quickly, and they send you home with a sweet tea. What more could you ask for? I had the quarter chicken with Mac and cheese, green beans, and biscuits. I probably should have saved half of it for dinner, but it was good enough to keep me eating until my plate was clean.

What's not to like? Country cooking, fresh, cheap and fast. Good sweet tea, and cheaper than Cracker Barrel. It's a little hard to find, but worth it. If there are a lot of cars, go on in, they move pretty fast.

I grew up on this same type of cooking and (I hope my Mom doesn't read this) I never pass up their turkey and dressing because it is THE BEST. Some of my favorites are the mac and cheese (always order two sides), southern greens of any kind, and the butter peas. Quick and friendly service as always!

Best place for a blue plate special in town! Choices revolve some by the day of the week but there are usually several meats and lots of vegetables and sides to choose from. This place is almost always packed during lunch hours but service is fairly quick.

Real Southern cooking it is not. The food is greasy and bland. The food has no appeal. The menu is limited. I'm giving it two stars because my waitress was very nice. I doubt this is a representation of SC's delicious food.

I have had so many friends recommend this place for meat and three. In my opinion, it's fair. Not terrible, not great. I'd give it 2.5 stars rather than 2, if I could. Food came out quickly and our waitress was attentive. The food is kind of on the bland side. Nothing spectacular. It had a cafeteria food quality to it. The vegetables almost tasted canned. The chicken fingers are decent. The honey mustard, however, is AWESOME.

Mama Penns is a great southern home cooking restaurant. I love their turkey and dressing which is the Thursday night special. This would be a five star rating were it not for their sweet potatoes which contains raisins. Sweet potatoes are my favorite side with turkey however I loathe the sweet potatoes at Mama Penns.

I have eaten here three times. If you are used to heavy, greasy food- its awesome. It is warm and comforting, in the same way being smothered by a heavy blanket would. The sweet tea is more sugar than tea. My Grandma never made me food like this because she cared for my health.

Went for lunch at noon on 7/3/12. As a solo diner I sat at the counter and have no complaints about watching the waitresses expertly hustle plates full of hot food in the kitchen. Had chicken livers which were as good if not better than my mother-in-law's. Vegetable side dishes were just as good. If you like southern home cooking you need to try Mama Penn's if you're in the Anderson / Clemson area.

This is a Southern meat and three restaurant so if you want authentic Southern food and you are in the area., this is the place where the locals eat. Meat and Three's are Southern restaurants where you get one meat entrée and three sides. My family has breakfast here every morning. The staff treats us like family and are efficient and fun.. I love their pancakes and my husband and son love their omelets. For dinner I recommend the meatloaf, authentic Chicken 'n' Dumplins', or the Turkey and dressing. Yummy and filling.
