No complaints. I don't know why I don't come here more often. Come by for the happy hour and get half price sushi. (Check out the website for the days and hours.) Join the email list and David sends out coupons regularly with a list of new specials. If you come in enough and get familiar with the right people you get a VIP card and get a discount. Try the fire dragon roll. Crab rangoons are tasty too.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY miss you all at Wasabi!! I am planning on heading in there Sunday I am REALLLY craving some of your amazing sushi! As it IS the BEST in RI! I have not had any since December and honestly I have never went that long without! We DID used to go in EVERY WEEK! :)

3.5 stars. Very nice, spacious interior, nice private booths. Have been here a few times, mostly for the 50% sushi on Sunday afternoons, which is a great deal. Sushi overall is generous and well-prepared but on our last visit the prep was sloppy and fish content stingy. Hope that was a blip in the service and not a new trend.

The private booths and curtains make this sushi place different and unique than other typical Asian restaurants. The ambiance isn't fancy or anything, but it's pretty well maintained. As for the food, sushi is great, for the price (half price during happy hours). But the rolls were really just mediocre. Just crazy amount of sauce (mayo especially) on top, can't really taste the ingredients in the roll. The sashimi platter also had some lousy crabcakes, which were counted as raw fish..eh i don't think so. Plus, they put one less sushi on my plate. Good thing I counted before I started eating. Hey one piece of sushi cost more than a dollar, so that was pretty important that I get my missing piece. And they messed up my bill (charged me for something that i didn't order). Our server was apologetic about it when i brought it to her attention though. I would try this place again in the future, but i strongly suggest you to double check everything!

This place is by far my favorite Japanese Restaurant in the area! I am always greeted by the owner, his wife and many long-term staff members. They have so many menu choices. I have never had a bad roll. Fire Dragon Roll is crowd pleaser, it will definitely fill you up! It is HUGE! We are obsessed with the scorpion bowls, by far, much better than other local places that just mix cheap vodka with juice. Don't forget 50% off Sushi! What could be better!! Favorite restaurant by far!!

Went to Wasabi last month and tonight. I started writing a review after our previous visit and just getting around to completing it - so you're getting a 2-for-1 here. Hubby and I love the booth and curtain seating. It's cozy and intimate. The service was lovely - both visits. Yes, both servers were engaging and attentive. For starters on both visits we had: nim chow Sweetheart Salad for 2 miso soup house salad On my March visit I had the Snow Ball Roll as it had the words "Highly Recommended" written above the picture in the menu. I ate it but I really didn't care for it. It had tempura which left me feeling too full after just the first bite. On this visit, I ordered the Dragon Ball as I did not want anything with tempura or soy wrappers. It was a home run! I loved the thin sliced avocado (just like in the sweetheart salad), the ginger sauce, and the dragon sauce (in the shape of a dragon on my plate. Hubby had to help me finish eating it. Each visit, my hubby has ordered hibachi combination chicken and scallops with vegetables (but no peppers or onions) and "less oil." The chef was very accommodating to this request. I think we'll have to come back very soon when I start craving those wonderful Asian flavors again.

Sushi and drinks were amazing. I didnt like the service and dessert. My dessert was ice cold and for some reason the manager didnt believe me and put his finger in the middle. ODD man and service but I like the martini they have the sushi. Also their beef wrap for app is so good.

I was looking forward to good Sushi. The food was very disappointing.

Food is always good but its a little pricey for the amount of food you get especially when ordering take out.

Visiting from out of town we chose wasabi based on Yelp ratings and reviews. I would actually give 3.5 stars because they didn't have uni and they cooked the scallops in the spicy scallop hand roll. The fish was fresh and beautifully presented, which is really all you can basically ask for. The amaebi was very good but overpriced at $5/pc. I would go back if in the area again.

My husband and I love this place. It's our go to spot for sushi since it's close to home. We like to go during happy hour for half price sushi. They also have a great decor and lovely private booths. The owner is very nice and he sends us coupons via email once you join his mailing list. They also have a great cocktail menu and very fresh sushi.

I tried Wasabi during my birthday weekend and I was nothing but thrilled. Unfortunately, I neglected the rave Yelp! reviews that popped up on this place, because I judged the outside. The location is in the back plaza where Chilis and Petsmart is. Most of the businesses in the plaza look a bit sketchy and run down, so you can understand my reasoning. I have it a shot anyway. Walking into the place was decent. The decor uses relaxing neon tones that emit from the bar. Walking in, we were immediately greeted by a very friendly hostess. Looking straight ahead, you will see curtained rooms. I wondered if we were going to be put in one, as I was curious what it would be like. Sure enough, the hostess sat us at our own "room". Let me tell you, it felt great! Privacy at its best! Our waitress's name was Cherry. She took our drink order, and ordered a Scorpion bowl. Se brought it back with all it's flaming glory! It was excellent! We put in a Nime Chow appetizer and soaked in the menu items (there are a lot!). Cherry came back with our Nime Chow and recommended several rolls. We ended up going with a Snowball roll and I think it was called a Fire Dragon roll. She told us those were the best 2, which made me happy. We tried the Nime Chow and it was delicious! Finally, the good stuff came. The snowball roll came out first. It was a little hard to eat because of the construction, but once I got it in my mouth I got excited. Big burst of sushi goodness. Cherry shortly came back with our fire dragon, blazing with real fire across the plate. It was a cool sight and a great dragon design painted on the plate with spicy mayo and sriracha. The rolls were so good that we finished everything just the two of us. I really enjoyed this experience and I will definitely be back. I highly recommend this restaurant along with this waitress! Check it out for yourself.

Hands down the best Sushi we have ever had. I kept saying no way in hell am I trying that but I did and so so good. Tuna sashimi, fire dragon roll, and ahi tuna roll, beef tatami and love the owner and staff so nice and helpful

Ordered a special sushi roll, supposed to have Lobster in it, not one single piece was found in the entire sushi roll! $20+ sushi roll, place is a joke!!

  • Amanda R.

So good! Love the atmosphere and the fun private rooms! The soups (Miso & Won Ton) were delicious. The Pad Thai and Udon Noodle Soup we also very good. We would definitely return (over and over again) if we lived in the area. The sushi looked good too, highly recommend!

Well, I must say that I was pleasantly pleased by my visit to Wasabi. Today I enjoyed a lunch date with my friend for half off sushi. If you're anything like me and you read a bajillian comments before deciding if you're actually going to go to a restaurant, then you know that half off sushi is Mon-Friday, 3:30-5:30, eat in only. Take out is 20% off. Sundays half off 1-5pm. The place was pretty empty and the staff were friendly enough. But...if you're also like me, I like my servers to establish some sort of connection with me. I'm a good tipper!! The waitresses are lacking in this department and do not return often. As for the food. Totally yum. I got the: Boston Roll- if you like mayo, yum. My friend also got this roll, she said it was delicious. I quite enjoy the simpleness. Green Dragon-if you love eel like me, so freakin good. Rainbow Roll-love the variety of fish. One of my favorite rolls. Very fresh. Godzilla Roll-yum yum yum!!! It comes warm because it's fried. Love it! New Years Eve- My. Favorite. Roll!!! Done. Manhattan-not very far off from the Godzilla, comes warm and fried. It's one of the heavier rolls. White tuna-delicious. Eel-my favorite fish. Amazon roll-soooooo gooood!!! My friend also got some shrimp tempura roll. She loved it. Needless to say we were not disappointed at all. For half price, it's worth at least trying and just to find out its super awesome?!? Priceless. I'm going back in a couple of days on a double date!!! :)) and maybe I'll try the Fire Dragon everyone raves about. Not too much variety between the rolls, lots of shrimp tempura and crab. I absolutely loved the ones I tried and I'll be happy to return for half off sushi. You can't go wrong with delicious AND half off. Go now! I've been so many times and going to try to go as many times as I can before I leave in march.

Service was a little slow despite the place being relatively empty but the food was good. Average prices and good presentations of the sushi rolls. I will be back if I am ever in the area again and craving sushi.

  • Cesar L.

Nice ambience, great food and wonderful presentation. You can fell the freshness of the products. Take advantage of their happy hour, all the sushis 50% off. You end up paying anywhere from 20-30 per person (on happy hour) where anyplace else would be 60.

    (5)
  • Sweet H.

This is the place for my sushi fix. Their happy hour is awesome and they don't cut corners when they offer the half price sushi and rolls. My favorite is the fire dragon roll and black dragon roll. They have a lot of choices which we really enjoy trying new things as well. I took my friends here once and she really liked the rolls :)

  • Aaron S.

This is one of my favorite spots to eat with my son. The sushi is always fresh, thr portions are good, and t the service is great. What puts it over the top is half price sushi hours...the prices are already good but quality like this at half price is unheard of. Even before I finish eating I look forward to my next visit. I find their special rolls less imaginative than some places but do not care because they taste better....isn't that more important?

  • Kannica R.

Don't let the exterior fool you, inside it's gold . Such an open calm and zen atmosphere and the sushi is great ! Go during happy hour and you'll get a deal 4 rolls for 25 ! I got the ninja , dynamite and spicy tuna and avocado between my boyfriend and I it was more than enough . Authentic , fresh and delish. I definitely regret not going to wasabi sooner

Fresh, great tasting sushi. Consistently good. I have loved every roll I have tried. The private alcove tables are cozy.

wWorstservice ever!Apparently the server had a really bad day, no smile, very rushing and rude. Her name is Cherry. Never get her as your server! Or just don't ever visit this place. You will just waste your time and money. Happy hour is a good deal, not good if you have to wait for an hour and you get you order messed up and no apologizer was given. Our cocktail was not great at all. Just really dissappointed and really not going back ever!

One of the best hibachi combos around. Really nicely decorated with a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!

I think I've found my new favorite sushi place! My family visited on a Sunday afternoon and we were thrilled to hear that they had 50% off rolls from 1-5. I was happy to order all rolls so this was great for us. Service was extremely friendly especially the manager and host. Our server was courteous and efficient. The restaurant is a bit dark but very clean. While we didn't request one I love the little private booths. My boys had miso soup with rice, edamame and California roll. No complaints. My husband and I split 4 rolls and they were delicious and very fresh-tasting. The rolls were so big we could have gone with 3 but it's easy to stuff yourself on sushi. After taxes and tip our bill came to $40 which is an absolutely fantastic price for dinner for 4 people. Perfect for a late lunch or early dinner, it's one of the better deals I've found. Can't wait to go back!

I absolutely love it here. Whenever we are in the mood for sushi wasabi is usually the place we go to. We always get great service here. They also provide private booths, which is very romantic! Half off sushi between the hours 330pm-530p

This is by far the best sushi place I've ever eaten at and I LOVE sushi and live in NYC where sushi is everywhere. Their sweetheart salad is divine. We shared it and almost had a chopstick war over the last bite. All sushi dishes were amazing, especially the snowball. My parents are regulars and as we entered we were greeted with such warmth. The service is amazing and all waitstaff is so wonderful. And lastly- the price!! For ten of us, with numerous appetizers and entrees we paid $186!!!!! Every time I come to RI I make my mother come to lunch with me at least to eat the sweetheart salad! I HIGHLY recommend this place!!!

Okay, I was skeptical of sushi in a strip mall on Rt. 2. I was wrong. This is some good sushi. Very good sushi. It's also quite reasonably priced sushi, considering. They have half-priced sushi at happy hour and all day Sundays, too. Onwards to the important part - squishy fishy. The menu said the crunchy snowball roll was highly recommended, and let me tell you, it deserves that recommendation. Let me add mine. It's tuna, crunchy, more tuna, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and creamy wasabi, with more crunchy and more tuna. It was fantastic, if messy. The tuna was really standout. My companion and I are drawn to the more creative rolls, and with an enormous sushi menu, this place delivered. We tried one with mango (great!) and one with strawberry (not so great, but still tasty.) The service was great - teacups always full, and the very friendly waitress always seemed to magically appear as soon as we needed anything.

I came here during happy hour. My fiancé and I had come in to get a nice filling on sushi for a good price. If I had prior knowledge of us waiting over an hour for our food, we would have gone somewhere else. The waitress didn't even come by our table to greet us or take our drink orders for about 40 minutes. After we had ordered, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. Not to mention we had to complain to the manager before our food came out. I felt if we didn't say anything to the manager , they would've forgot about us.

Great deals to be had during Happy Hour (3:30 - 5:30pm) where you can get half priced sushi rolls which includes special and normal rolls. There are some exceptions which the waitress will let you know. Came here with my girlfriend and ordered 6 special rolls which normally run $80 but ended up about 40 before tax and tip. Our favorites were the Hollywood roll and the Fire Dragon roll (love the lighting of the bacardi 151 when the manager brought it over). I definitely overestimated how big the rolls were and probably could've gone with just 3 rolls...Fortunately the cooked ones made for good breakfast leftovers! The ambience was very nice and they had private booths. We got there around 4:30 where it was a bit empty but got filled up as it got closer to the end of happy hour towards dinner. I can see why service may get slow since we only saw one sushi chef and the manager feverishly keeping up with orders and two waitresses managing the dining room. All in all great first try and will definitely come again!

The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. It was clean and I like that they have private rooms/booths. After being seated, I promptly ordered the tuna roll and the shrimp tempura roll. I was not impressed with the sushi chef's work on a basic roll. It was pretty sloppy and almost falling apart. The shrimp tempura roll was smothered with some sauce, which was completely unnecessary. For the main course, I ordered the hibachi combo of chicken and shrimp. Again, this dish was executed poorly. Regular, long grain rice is not typical and it does not work well with chopsticks. The chicken and shrimp were way too salty and overwhelmed whatever seasoning they might have used. At this point, I was confused as to why this place has received such stellar reviews. Finally, the service could use major improvements. It was very slow and inattentive. A little smile from the servers won't hurt either. Overall, this place can be described as "Japanese" inspired. The food and service, which is not completely awful, is definitely not Japanese and their quality level has much room for improvement.

Pleasantly surprised by a Japanese/Sushi place in the middle of what looks like an almost abandoned half of a shopping plaza. We were recommended this place by the great employees at Bellani Maternity (right across the parking lot). Great looking interior - really beautiful. Food was great- lots of great options (especially considering I can't do sushi right now due to pregnancy- but my husband got sushi - super fresh and lots of options and different style rolls. The portions are gigantic - both times we visited - had plenty to bring hime (out of the non-sushi options). Great service- really friendly and would highly recommend folks checking it out!

First time here. Very nice inside, clean and way bigger than it looked from the outside in strip mall. Service very quick and pleasant. I had the lunch special of 3 rolls and salad for $11.00. Salad was fresh with an excellent ginger dressing. More creamy and flavorful that the more grainy ones. I wasn't that impressed with the rolls. Boston roll was inside out (seaweed on top) with red leaf lettuce and small shrimp. Shrimp and avocado didn't make it into the last piece of the 5 piece small roll. Also, it was rather bland. Romaine lettuce gives that crunch- this was soft. . Very Mediocre shrimp tempura roll . Shrimp tempura was overcooked and agaibn, small roll overpowered by eel sauce. I might try again if in area only, butnot the rolls. If the basic rolls are mediocre, then the specialty rolls at full price are generally not worth the $$.

I like this restaurant. I has an awesome atmosphere and it's very clean. It's a great place to take a date. They have private booths with curtains so nobody can see In very romantic. They also play R&B which is unique for a sushi restaurant but enjoyable. Tonight I got the Kani salad great portion, presentation and flavor! For dinner I got the Victoria Secret Roll amazing! Next time I may ask for light rice just to keep calories down. My boyfriend had the crabmeat salad which had wasabi creamy sauce on it very spicy but he enjoyed it. For Dinner he got a Ninja Roll which he also enjoyed:) so thumbs up for date night !!

I love going here. One of only two places my husband will eat sushi, partly due to the Fire Dragon Roll. The atmosphere is always quiet and I've never had a problem with the food being sub-par. Every once in a while they make a mistake on my drink order, but I usually just end up discovering a new amazing drink to add to my list of favorites. Not to jinx myself but I've never had a bad experience. Always amazing.

Wasabi has got to be my favorite sushi place hands down! When I first moved to RI I would always pass the 50% off sushi sign on bald hill and think to myself how gross it must be for half off. Man was I wrong. One day I decided to go for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised, the decor was nice, open and modern and the food is great. Now the only time I go is during lunch hour my favorite is the Warwick roll, I've recently branched out and tried others but that ones still my favorite! The service is so-so I've had this one waitress in particular on more than one occasion be a little cold, she once walked by and just threw the check at us so that was a little off putting. Besides that I love this place definitely recommend

This place has the best sushi around. The atmosphere is great and the artwork around the restaurant gives it a very soothing japanese feel. The sushi rolls are of the highest quality and everything is fresh as can be. Some of the chefs special rolls are so creative you will not find them in anywhere else. Best sushi i've ever had. Try it out.

I come here for happy hour and it's always delicious. I always try different things here and I actually prefer to come here (over the sushi restaurant with all the great reviews that's right by my house) because the prices are great and the sushi doesn't suffer for that (it's always nummy). That being said, I've definitely had better sushi in other places JUST NOT AROUND HERE since I've only been in the RI/MA area for half a year. I hope to explore more and find the best sushi spots around RI/MA. I've been to Haruki's and in my opinion it was over-priced and just kinda normal (aka not SO GOOD i'd go back, given the price). But yeah. This has become my go-to happy-hour spot for sushi. The deals are insane (again FOR THE AREA) and you can get a lot of good sushi for an affordable price! The only reason this place gets a 4 star is because most of the sushi I've tried around RI/MA has been kinda blah and DEFINITELY over-priced. The happy-hour gives you GOOD SUSHI, for the area, and at a great price. Some of the sushi out here in the restaurants isn't even as good as the sushi they sell at the grocery stores. It's a real shame and basically IT IS A CRIME. Wasabi is consistently good, affordable, and dependable. I know I can eat all kinds of sushi here and be happy about the whole experience (what I've put into my body and what I've spent in order to do so). PLENTY of parking. PLENTY of seating. Fine for kids and families. You can get one of those side booths with curtains that give you privacy if you need or want to have a secret rendezvous. Portion size is average. Speed of delivery takes a little bit longer than I'm used to (make sure you have time). Service is always friendly! I think that's everything! GO TRY IT!

  • Wendy W.

My go-to sushi place in RI. Sushi is always affordable... & GOOD as well as fresh. I've been to many many sushi places & this one is comparable to high end places at a fraction of the price. I usually prefer raw sushi rolls (no California-shouldn't-be-considered-sushi-roll for me!) & I have been delighted with my meal each & every time. One exception to my real-sushi-should-be-raw mentality is the fire dragon roll. OMG! Sushi + fire + alcohol ?!?!!! Genius. & so delicious. 5 stars to wasabi for presentation alone. Service is excellent too- the manager/owner is SO friendly, accommodating, & remembers his patrons! I will definitely go back...as I have pretty much once a week now. Actually kinda hesitant to add to the great reviews (truth) bc I don't want my favorite sushi place bombarded when I go for my weekly fix!

  • Michaela M.

Amazing place! It's quiet which is nice and each time I've gone it hasn't been busy so we are seated right away. Each person working greets you with a smile which is hard to come by now a days! I got the California roll and shrimp tempura and was not disappointed! Our waitress was also very helpful as we are not avid sushi eaters she answered all of our questions without judgement! Everything on the menu looks beautiful and everything I've tried so far has been delicious! I will for sure be back again!

Third time I have been here. The sushi is consistently fresh, and the waitresses as well as the men creating the sushi are very helpful, nice, and accurate. Unfortunately, the store is hidden , even though it is on the main road. I have never been here when it is crowded, but still, the food is always fresh. Very diverse, and large selection in special rolls. Definitely worth going there repeatedly....

I have been searching high and low in the sate of Rhode Island for the perfect sushi joint. Tonight, at Wasabi, came pretty darn close. Newly opened, and more modern decor then its Johnston counterpart, Wasabi Warwick could definitely be considered a sexy sushi sanctuary, even their budda has boobies. Textures so diverse, tactile, and wonderful I've been newly inspired for a kitchen remodel. There is a good mix of tables, booths, private rooms behind curtains, private dining coves behind screens, and of course a (long) sushi bar. The waitstaff was attentive and it's all hands on deck as different servers, busers, and managers breezed by at regular intervals. The fish itself was fresh, serving sizes ample, and a good variety was offered. I'm still tickled pink because my sushi dinner came with 8 pieces of sushi - TWO of which were my favorite salmon - and a choice of roll. Who gives choices? Wasabi does! It came with the option of either salad or miso soup. Regular rolls weigh in between $4-$5, which is way cheaper than Whole Foods, and way better. Specialty rolls were on par at $9-$14. They have a full bar, hot and cold sake and cocktails all for around $7. I need panko in my spicy tuna rolls for a 5* review and a bit more pizazz in my specialty rolls. If you don't have these same requirements, Wasabi could make it to 5 in your book. *They are offering 15% off for patrons of their grand opening. Go and enjoy!*

Been coming here since they first opened in 2011? This place is awesome, great customer service and you can get private booths or private rooms so you don't have to see other people. Every time I come the foods great even when I try new things and the scorpions are just life!

We came in super late at 9:40 and they accommodated us! They let is eat and didn't ribs us out. We we're amazed by the awesome service and friendliness of the servers! The sushi was amazing. Try the perfect roll, it's so fresh and delicious!! We also got a flaming roll (Bacardi 151) but we can't remember the name!! Fantastic experience!!

My partner and I had the sushi & sashimi platter for 2 and later ordered another specialty roll because the portion felt a bit short. The sushi was just okay, the rolls were quite tasty with all the sweet sauce drizzled over it. The booths were divided with high panels and curtains that it felt quite nice in there. I haven't seen any place with this kind of private booth layout. It felt cozy and was able to focus just on our party and not get distracted by others. Overall interior, however, is very tacky... The staff were friendly, they made mistakes twice that night. It didn't bother me that much; i am pretty understanding with waitstaffs because I used to work as a waitress and I know sometimes mistakes happen. But most customers would've been annoyed.

Wasabi was good for what it is. Half of sushi at a certain time making it easy to grab a bunch of different rolls to try. The dragon roll or whatever one comes on fire was great but I didn't have anything I didn't like giving this 4 stars. I will be back again for their happy hour of rolls.

Wasabi is my go-to place when I need a sushi fix but don't want it to cost an arm and a leg. They have happy hour specials as well as coupons. My friends and I average visits at least once a month. Sadly, the service is a bit slow. Granted, they know to always expect a large group 8+ but waiting 20 minutes to order or for a check is a bit superfluous. The quality of the seafood has wavered a bit in the past, but these days, it appears to remain steady and delicious. I am still allowed to order specials that are no longer on the menu (the Honey Roll in particular). My favorites on the menu other than the Honey Roll include tenpura (including the ice cream) because it's delicious and non-oily. Their salads are excellent for both flavor and freshness. Wasabi has a great variety of sushi rolls offered. For those who do not like raw fish or are not into sushi, they have wonderful entrees as well. I can't help it, but I love their fried rice! Last, but not least, the presentation of the food is excellent. Food is just as much visual as it is taste and Wasabi has it!

Pretty good, not busy around lunch. Great prices for lunch specials. Only had the veggie rolls which seemed smaller than other sushi places. Also had their Nime Chow. Very small. Not a lot of veggies or shrimp.

I love it here! I was iffy, never heard anything about it, but went for a first date idea, was very pleased. Now my friend and I go quite often, the shrimp tempura is good and I LOVE the spider roll. They have half off from 3:30-5:30 we got two specialty rolls, edamame, and two small rolls and it only came to $22. The food is very fresh, they take a while to prepare even when business is slow. There is a older women who is a waitress, who can be rather rude, we hate when we get her, she isn't attentive at all, grabs menus from your hands. Puts food down without saying a word and doesn't come back till you're done. Other than that everyone else is nice. I recommend them to everyone

I am giving Wasabi five stars because we love the sushi and the Happy Hour Half Price Sushi. BUT...starting March 1, Happy Hour is changing!! New hours are Monday-Friday 11:00-3:00 instead of 3:00-5:30! This is not good...

Awesome! Everything was wonderfully presented and tasted amazing! Can't wait to go back when in the area! Sushi was perfect!

This review is based on the so called "service". For sure, my girlfriend and I will never be back. To start, we have been here roughly 9 to 10 times. The sushi happy hour and the sushi are good. However, the service is just plain awful. One time they forgot 2 of my sushi rolls that I ordered. Another time my miso soup came out when I was finishing my sushi "sorry I just remembered" was the reply. But those are all things that you can deal with once in a while. How about the time I went in with my family and the waitress was just plain rude. I understand you can have a bad day, trust me. But do you expect to get a tip when you can't crack a single smile and talk with no enthusiasm. I have had this waitress more than once and it's the same old story. On a seperate occasion I was given a hard time about sitting in the private booth section, when there was a total of 6 people in in the establishment, what's the problem? I sit in there everytime. Ok enough with the lead up stories. Today my girlfriend and I were seated by the "man" who apparently was the host/manager? 25 minutes went by (timed on my phone) and no one even came over to get us a water! Wow! We really felt welcome. Finally the "man" walks over and states "someone will be over shortly." Now that was the final straw. Enough is enough! The "waitress" came over and gave a weak "sorry". With the "man" standing next to her, I told them we have been waiting for 25 minutes and I don't think I can give my business to this establishment. The "man" walked away in silence and the waitress replied "ok". Ok! Ok? Mind you, the place was practically a ghost town. As we were walking out the "man" (I say man in quotation marks because he could not look me in the eyes) just stood there with his head down. I gave him the opportunity to stop me and apologize. But clearly they do not need the business and could care less about the customers who just happen to be regulars! They lost the business of my family as well as myself. Enter at your own risk. Half off sushi and half ass service. There are plenty of other good sushi places in RI where you won't be treated like shit. Sakura, Lemon Grass, Haruki, Haruki East, and Shogun (just to name a few).

I absolutely love this place. I only go for the half price sushi but that doesn't mean it's any less good. Such a good deal! The decorations and atmosphere are super nice. Pretty clean overall. The service is nice. Can be very slow at times which is annoying when you're hungry. Other than that I highly recommend this place especially for fresh sushi. Don't let this hidden gem get away!

Deee-lish-ous. I feel the only way to describe my thoughts about Wasabi is phonetically.. We decided to try a different sushi place after exhausting our usual options at Dragon Palace, so we sped here after work on a Friday to arrive in time for the half price sushi. It was sooo worth it. It's so great that there are a number of reliable sushi restaurants scattered around RI, so you can bounce from place to place without getting sick of any one. Seeing as how we were eating for half price, the sky was the limit. We ordered wayyy too much (don't worry - we ate it all), paired our meal with a scorpion bowl (num nums) and ended up spending the same, if not less, than we usually do - and we're usually getting take out so alcohol is not included. What a great deal! Our favorite was the Fire Dragon Roll, which was drizzled with Bacardi 151 - which was on fire! Literally. The combination of flavors was very unique, with seared steak, crabmeat, shrimp tempura, and a plethora of other scrumptious ingredients all rolled up in one [giant] bite. The only part of this excursion that threw me off was that it was almost completely empty when we got there, which is fine considering what time it was, but it was sooo quiet that I felt like we were on display every time we made a noise. Plus the wait staff was idly standing by the bar, which made it even more uncomfortable. Playing some music would make a world of difference.

50% off lunch specials AND good sushi! Can't go wrong. When I walked in I really didn't expect for such a nice looking place to be located in a somewhat abandoned plaza on Bald Hill. If you're a stickler for atmosphere being first impressions, I'll tell you they have that down pat, hold the cheesy moving waterfall paintings you see in other Asian restaurants. I ordered the fire dragon roll, this one is a crowd-pleaser, for sure. It's got all the good things you want in a roll, leaves your tummy feeling good and has that unoverwhelming and delightful trace of Barcardi 151 in it! Normally when I eat at sushi restaurants, a roll does not leave me feeling satiated in the least bit, not this roll- it's really pretty filling. With the half off discount being too good to pass, I took home some shrimp tempura to go- only 3 freaking dollars, leaves me a happy girl. First-time tryer, I'm ready to go again! The only downside is that it's located on Bald Hill Road and Bald Hill is always a busy road. But for the prices and sushi being that good it's worth the travel.

I drove by Wasabi 6-8 times before I recognized where it was. At first I thought "Oh great, another famous RI Strip-mall restaurant". But, we were there, in the mood for sushi and for trying out a new place. I can say that as soon as you open the front door the place leaves an impression on you. The ambiance is set up and is so striking compared to the drab parking lot. It is dark without needing flashlight to read the menue. It has some booths that actually have these curtains you can draw to keep your dining a bit private (....not THAT private though). Prices were standard and the menue has a mix of the standard Asian fare but plus a few unique dishes too. I had the hot & sour soup and a few maki rolls. I have hot & sour soup at every place I go to on the hunt for what I consider to be the best. THIS PLACE IS THE BEST. Underline and bold THE! It does not get that gel like consistency that some places do. It is a decent sized bowl, it isn't full of filler ingredients. This version was not a blast of tangyness to your mouth but more subtle flavors.....not a mixture of powders & shots of hot sauce. It contained chunks of white fish too, which I have not seen at the standard strip-mall Asian place. Also, I am fairly certain mine was made to order. The sushi was great and prices were standard. If you are in the area it is worth a chance on a new place.

As you can see from my check-ins, I'm a big fan of this place. At first, I thought the quality, flavors and portions would probably get smaller as they open longer but it hasn't and they continue to come up with the most creative and tasty rolls during each occasion. To top it off, the coupons keeps coming and the 50% discount isn't gone yet. I'm a very happy customer. I love the Sweetheart Sashimi Salad and the Crunchy Snowball. I go from day to day thinking about sushi and it needs to stop lol. The staff is friendly and the speed of service has significantly improved.

Love this place! It doesn't look like it's going to be good because it's in the middle of a random strip mall on Bald Hill Road. You can't even see it from the street. But then it's awesome! The prices are really good and then even have half-price sushi from 3:30-5:30 on Monday-Friday which is the best deal ever. It's very clean and I've loved everything I've gotten there so far! I'd highly recommend this restaurant. High-quality sushi for a great price.

I have got to say, Fantastic. The interior is ... hard to describe. Susi bar is open, then there are hibachi tables and privet alcoves for off the menu dining. You have to see it to understand. We had some traditional dinner items, the various roles and Yaki Udon with chicken and a side of fried rice. All were the best we have had in RI. In fact, they rank up there with some of the best we have had period. The only issue I had was the service. The lady was very nice, but they seemed to be understaffed. It was just not overly responsive and at one point brought us someone else order. So corrected it quickly, but it seemed a little awkward. I will chalk all of that up to growing pains though. This has turned into our go to place for Japanese.

My buddies and I love the happy hour special. High quality sushi, high quality service, and a clean and fresh environment...at half price (for all rolls)! You can't beat that! I tried it once and went the following 3 days in a row! This is the first review I've written because I felt no other restaurants were worth my time- Wasabi was worth it. My pal gets the hot sake and gets drunk! The scorpion bowl is nice too- the owner is passionate and willing to please.

Decided to try this place for lunch today with my parents and was pleasantly pleased with the whole experience. First off the decor of the place was fantastic (it still had that new place smell). They also have a group of private booths that would be great to take a date. The service was also timely and they were very attentive. If you have read any of my other reviews you will know that I am someone who enjoys a good sushi roll. I decided to split sushi with my father and we got the Fire Dragon Roll, Spicy Crunchy Tuna Roll, and Wasabi Roll. They were all very tasty and the presentation was great too. The Fire Dragon Roll is drizzled with Bacardi 151 on the side that is lit on fire. The 151 gave it an interesting yet delicious taste. The only drawback is the spicy tuna was mashed up into a paste, I prefer the piece of tuna with the spicy mayo on it not mashed together but to each their own. My mom got the lunch size hibachi chicken which came with fried rice and vegetables. She really liked her choice. We were very impressed with the meal and the price was also very reasonable for a sushi restaurant. It was also their grand opening so they gave us 10% off the bill. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend this place to go out for a nice dinner or lunch!

Excellent sushi, excellent service. a little pricey, but very nice. The decor inside looks really nice and is very clean. We got a private booth, which was great for an intimate setting. My only gripe was with one of the appetizers we got. We got the snowcrab appetizer (14.95) and it can with ONE crab leg..... barely ONE crab leg... -1 star for that, but other wise very good. Edit: after getting a message it turned out I did not correctly remember the type crab leg. It was snow crab not king crab.

My family and I recently tried Wasabi and love it! We've gone back several times now and will be returning often for the foreseeable future. We've always had great service and have yet to eat a dish we didn't like. Their sushi creations are unique and delicious, their servers are quick and polite, and their atmosphere is clean and relaxing. It's my family's new favorite restaurant!

Protip: Don't judge this place from the outside. Location could have been chosen more wisely, but once you step inside you'll know you've found something special. You have to drive around the corner from the Pet Smart, behind the Pier 1 in the strip mall. My wife and I have eaten here probably at least 20 times since the restaurant's grand opening. We've sampled almost every item on the menu. We have *never* had a disappointing experience. On no occasion has it been busy enough to prompt a wait (what's up with that, Rhode Islanders?). If you ask for the private booths they will be more than happy to seat you there, but don't be surprised if they guide you to a booth by default. The staff are incredibly attentive, which can feel strange when the restaurant is largely empty, but the manager is always around and is always ensuring maximum quality / efficiency. He knows us by sight now, and always lights / presents my favorite roll (Fire Dragon Roll) himself :-) He always asks me if it is living up to my expectations, and my mouth is usually too stuffed to answer. Take it from someone who has sampled sushi on every menu I can find in this state - this is as good as it gets in Rhode Island. And man, is it GOOD! If you're the person who likes to order rack of lamb at sushi joints (yes, they have it here; yes, my father-in-law ordered it and loved it), you owe it to yourself to get off the beaten path and step into the world of authentic nagiri sushi and rolls. This is not the stuff you buy off the grocery store shelf in refrigerated, plastic boxes. This is hand-made and prepared by pro chefs. Think "Jiro Dreams of Sushi", without the enormous bill (prices are very reasonable for high-end sushi; think prices comparable to franchise steakhouses). Food favorites: Fire Dragon Roll (drizzled in Bacardi 151 and lit on fire; sizzled steak on rolls of avacado and shrimp tempura, spicy / tangy sauce - I DEVOUR this almost every time we visit); Seafood soup (slightly spicy, with plenty of meat in the broth); Nagiri sushi a la carte (the unagi and toro - eel and tuna respectively - are DELICIOUS). Calamari is probably one of their best "plain" appetizers, putting the typical frozen-fried ringlets you find at sports bars 'round here to SHAME. ***UPDATE: the Fire Dragon Roll has proven to be a consistent crowd-pleaser when we bring friends. I brought my mother and sister for my birthday (they're not particular sushi-lovers), and as soon as they saw the Fire Dragon Roll my mom immediately waived down the waitress and ordered another. If you knew my family, you'd know this is as solid an endorsement as it gets.*** Drink favorites: Scorpion Bowl for Two (wife and I always share one), Wasabi-tini (for parties or groups of friends). Warm sake, or hot tea :-) Start with those and prepare yourself for a dynamite dining experience. Then come back and get off the beaten path. Don't stop until you've tried octopus, and really, you SHOULD try octopus at least once in your life.

A few Fridays ago, I was invited to a birthday party for one of my work besties. Her husband arranged for six of her closest friends to surprise her for dinner at a local Japanese restaurant, Wasabi, in Warwick. Basically, all the friends were to get to the restaurant early and grab a booth so that when she wandered in, we would all be there to yell "surprise"! Fortunately everything worked out to plan, and it turns out that Wasabi was the idea place to have a surprise dinner for a small group of rowdy friends! Wasabi is located in a strip mall on Route 2, aka one of Rhode Island's busiest roads due to the immense number of stores and restaurants that line the street. I had passed by it a million times, but had never had the opportunity to dine there for some reason until this party! My husband and I were the first ones there, and we were instructed by the birthday girl's hubby to grab a "covered booth." When we arrived around 6, the restaurant was dead so I wasn't at all worried about securing ourselves the right sort of table. Basically, these covered booths were like private little cubbies with a curtain over the doorway for privacy. The booths are sized for small and large parties, and we were able to secure our own little room for our party of 8 without a reservation or an issue! It wasn't a booth per say, but more like a private room. It was really nice and perfect for a small party! The menus were certainly eye-catching, covered in a (hopefully) faux electric blue snake or lizard skin. Though my husband and I were the first ones, the waitstaff had no hesitation in asking us for our drink orders while we waited for the rest of the party. In fact, the waitress was very attentive the whole night, both with drink orders and with things like clearing plates and providing utensils. I started with green tea. I know this sounds kind of weird, but their green tea was awesome because it was especially earthy-tasting! In fact, my husband likened the taste of the tea to shredded wheat! I think it just had to do with the fact it indeed boasted a deep, earthy flavor. I was aiming to eat vegan and low-gluten. Wasabi of course had loads of vegan sushi options, but I don't like sushi, so I had more of a limited menu to work with. Fortunately, there were enough options from me to pick from. I decided to order the one explicitly vegetarian option I spotted- the vegetable teriyaki. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I did know it came with either miso soup or their house salad. I, of course, asked for both! The miso was pretty standard, but that being said, it was very tasty, with chunks of tofu and some seaweed floating around in there too! The house salad was not too impressive, but also not bad. It consisted of lots of iceberg and a few grape tomatoes covered in a tasty dressing that I can't quite identify. The highlight of my meal was definitely the main course. My veggie teriyaki was basically a large plate of stir-fried veggies in teriyaki sauce, served with white rice on the side. The veggies were perfectly cooked, and included staples like pepper, onion, carrot and broccoli. I ate half of the delicious teriyaki with some white rice. I didn't notice brown rice as an option on the menu, but I also didn't ask about it either! All in all, while vegan and vegetarian options at Wasabi are not abundant, they do exist! My meal was very satisfying, from the soup to salad to the entree, and while it wasn't anything extraordinary, it was all tasty! I really loved the atmosphere though and the fact we could get a private room on a Friday night with no reservations for 8 people is in and of itself a testament to how great Wasabi is. I would definitely return and am already planning to do so with just the hubby.

Wasabi was a great find. The sushi (pirate role) is the best I've ever had, and my husband says the hibachi dinner is amazing. We have made it a regular stop due to the great service, food, drinks, and prices. The atmosphere is also first class!

I'm surprised that you can find sushi this good in a strip mall. It's good and it's fresh. I'm no expert on sushi, but I know what tastes good. They also have an excellent miso soup. The sushi and the cocktail offerings are both extremely creative. However, I'm not sure that purists will be pleased. There's a sushi role with, I kid you not, Barcardi in it. The ambiance and the service are lovely, and on weekdays, the rolls are 50% off, so it's certainly worth a try.

I've been a sushi afficionado for decades, and have had some truly inspiring culinary experiences at sushi bars in places as diverse as Singapore and San Francisco. Is Wasabi world-class? No. But within the environs of Southern New England, it is a solid five stars. Many Yelpers have already commented on the location and the physical plant, so no real need for me to pile on. What everyone says is true... the outside is the polar opposite of the inside. The decor is very classy (I especially like the big "gold" buddha at the back), and the alcove booths with privacy curtains are a nice touch. The staff was very polite and attentive, so two thumbs way up on the service as well. But what are we really here to talk about? SUSHI!!! My review is based entirely on my sushi bar experience, as I did not sample any of the items from the kitchen. I feel that the real test of a sushi bar's quality is to stick to old-school basics that really let the seafood shine through. Yes, Wasabi is following the current trend in Japanese restaurants of offering some truly outrageous futo maki, including one that's wrapped in slivers of steak, doused in Bacardi 151 and set on fire. Seared tuna, flavored mayonnaise, asparagus, cream cheese, lobster salad and strawberries also feature in the dozens of signature rolls, all ingredients that you'd be hard pressed to find in a traditional sushi restaurant in Japan. People seem to like these eccentric preparations, and I have no problem with them... but I prefer something a bit more basic that allows the subtle flavors of the fish to be the feature performers. So, I ordered three items that I consider litmus tests for any sushi bar: a tako sunomono, a rainbow roll, and an order of two pieces of just plain ol' sushi, as in a slab of fish on a ball of rice (I chose striped sea bass, cuz it looked wonderful in the case). My thoughts: Tako sunomono: I had very mixed feelings here. From vast experience I have learned that the "sunomono" preparation is open to quite a bit of interpretation, but my understanding has always been that it includes some kind of seafood (I chose octopus), seaweed and cucumber in a ponzu-based dressing. Wasabi omitted the seaweed, offered up lots of cuke in fairly thick peeled chunks, some gloriously tender and sweet tako, and a light and refresing dressing in which the whole thing was submerged, all presented in a large martini glass. I felt the lack of seaweed was disappointing, and I prefer the cuke unpeeled and cut in very thin slivers... and the martini glass was so tall that eating the thing was a bit challenging. But this was the best tako I have had in a long, long time... tender, not at all rubbery, sliced very thin and steamed to perfection. And the dressing was a nice compliment, citrusy and tangy without being overwhelming (I was tempted to drink it). If I order this next time, I will ask for them to add the seaweed. Rainbow roll: Not much to say here, except that it was perfect. Sushi can be destroyed if the fish is not absolutely fresh, and here Wasabi surpassed every other sushi bar I've visited in Rhode Island (that would be all of them). Seriously, if one of the gloriously colorful slices had leapt off the roll and onto the bar, I would not have been surprised. The flavors blended perfectly, everything was balanced, the textures firm, the temperature cool but not icy cold (or heaven forbid, room temperature... eek). This roll demonstrated the beauty of simplicity when you are working with flawless ingredients. Suzuki sushi: Speaking of simplicity, you can't get more basic than this unless you're going to opt for sashimi. Again, the freshness of the sea bass ruled this dish. But the combination of just the fish and rice ball allowed me to appreciate how well the rice was prepared, the individual grains firm with fantastic mouth feel, not at all soggy or slimey, and not overly flavored with rice vinegar. As I was slowly chewing (and trying not to allow my eyes to roll back in my head), I was actually experiencing the flavor and texture of the rice as a distinct component from the flavor and texture of the fish. Very nice. And here's the icing on the proverbial cake: when I got my check, the sushi items were all half price. Apparently they do this on weekdays from 3:30-5:30 (although I do not know if this is just a limited time special, since the restaurant is relatively new). I was hoping that I would find in Wasabi a sushi restaurant that would be adequate if I was in the Bald Hill Road area and found myself with a craving. What I found instead will be a go-to destination restaurant for me, well worth the drive from Warren. So yeah, take a right at the PetsMart, a left at the Modell's... and if you get to the Boy Scout Store, you've passed it! Leave your trepidations in the car, and step into an urbane, classy Japanese restaurant that features what I believe is the best quality sushi in Rhode Island. You will be well rewarded!

Awesome sushi! Hollywood roll was amazing! Hurricane roll... also amazing! love the seared outside! Definitely not cheap but hey, you get what you pay for. We went pretty late 9pm and got a private booth, which was great considering some of the rolls are huge and shoving them in your mouth is something you don't want to share with the whole restaurant. Even though we ordered 8 rolls we didn't wait long for our food, but we did go late and it wasn't that busy. 8 rolls for 3 people was way too much food! We were stuffed! My husband is a huge sake fan, but wasn't to crazy about their house sake. But everything was good and fresh, even the small regular rolls. Will absolutely be back!

Pretty solid sushi selections. I will have to go back again to see how I really like it. I ordered a roll and asked for it without spicey mayo and got spicey mayo....i dislike mayo. I ate it ande tried to wipe it off, I'm not one to send food back. All i could think of was the taste of mayo which ruined my roll for me. The other rolls my family got were pertty tastey though and the fish tasted very fresh. Definitely a place to check out the sushi scene.

I haven't reviewed Wasabi yet? I love this place! I have been on several occasions and haven't had a bad nor a mediocre experience. In fact they have all been pretty darn good in my book! They have some great drink specials and a nice variety of sushi rolls, including one saturated with 151 how fun! Wasabi also has great lunch specials! The service has been very attentive each time I have been and the price can't be beat. This is a keeper in my book.

Prices are great! We ordered take out and I wasn't the one who picked up so this review is solely about the food. The Sweat Potato roll is wonderful, just a little crunch and lots of flavor. I wasn't as impressed with the Spicy Tuna roll though. It wasn't bad, but it lacked spice and rather than have pieces of tuna with a spicy sauce over the whole roll, it looked like the took the spicy mayo and the tuna and blended it into a paste. The menu also indicated roe in the spicy tuna roll so I have to assume it was blended in with the rest of it. I can't wait to try more next time.

Gave this place a shot this past weekend because we were in the mood for a hibachi dinner, which, all things considered, is something we are in the mood for maybe once a year. We saw the good reviews for Wasabi, and looking at the menu saw that they offered "hibachi dinners", so decided to try someplace new for us. Upon arrival we noticed a lack of hibachi (or teppanyaki if you prefer) tables. Say what? Craning our necks and straining our ears, we neither saw the big grill tables nor heard the sounds of slicing, dicing, and banging that normally accompany said furnishings. Darn! As other reviewers have noted, the space is pretty nice, and well laid out. We decided to forge ahead though and did order hibachi dinners, scallops for my wife and filet and shrimp for me. The meals came with soup or salad (unlike other hibachi places where you get both), and I also ordered a spider roll. The sushi was tasty, the salads were fine (iceberg covered with a healthy, some might say too much, amount of some creamy dressing which was good), and the dinners came out quickly. The dinners come with veggie fried rice and mixed vegetables, and were good, tasting the same as what we would normally get if it was prepared in front of us. Service was friendly and efficient throughout. We both said we would not be averse to returning, but given that we could probably get similar food at other restaurants that are closer to home, I'm not sure we going out of our way to return. If we are in the vicinity and in the mood for sushi or other things they offer, then we would go back.

Wasabi is an excellent Japanese restaurant. The servers are always friendly and the entire staff is dressed professionally, which matters more to me than some. We started with crab Rangoon- 5 small pieces that were very flavorful, but I definitely found myself wanting bigger ones and maybe even a few more pieces for the price. I've had sushi lunch specials here a few times. Always a great value-3 rolls and soup or salad for $10.95. I'm a huge fan of ginger dressing, and there's is different than most but extremely delicious. The sushi was very fresh and had great color. Ill admit that the pieces were a bit small, but I'm sure if I weren't ordering a lunch special they would be bigger. They also have some great sounding cocktails. I didn't have one but I definitely will next time. Would have given five stars if the crab rangoons were bigger or more plentiful, but overall an excellent restaurant. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for some good cheap sushi! Great atmosphere with a fun bar and private tables too.

Nice atmosphere. Cute, private booths. Clean and a little kitschy. They had some of the most amazing rolls. Patriot and Ninja rolls were fantastic. Unbelievable flavor and quality. Black Dragon and Chicken roll were also good. My vegetarian friend loved the veggie teriyaki. No soda refill was a bit disappointing. When you spend over $100 you expect to get five cent worth of soda free. Also a communication barrier made some our server appear upset with us and the really private booths made service check backs a little scattered. Rolls are 1/2 off on Sunday and Happy hour

Wasabi is amazing. Hands down, incredible! Service is always good, but the sushi is phenomenal. Some of the best in RI if not the best. Really it's that good. Plus they have sushi happy hour where it's half price and you can't beat that. If you haven't been do yourself a favor and go, you won't regret it. The only problem they have is there sett in location, I think it makes business hard for them because not everyone lows they are there. However, they deserve as much business that we can give them because they are that good and need to stick around! For reference some of our favorites are the wasabi roll and the volcano roll. Yum!

Delicious sushi. Some of their special rolls look very cool, the angry dragon in particular. They have happy hours with half price sushi and this is our go-to place to get quality stuff. Very good, fairly priced, give it a shot!

Great place for good sushi! Try the crunchy snowball roll. My wife had the filet mignon hibachi and it must have been good because she ate it all before I could try a bite.

I went here for take out the other day for sushi. I promise I will update the review once I have say inside and tried drinks etc because I'm sure that might push this to a 4 or 5 star. I say three stars now because while the sushi I had was fresh it was not flavorful, overall it came across as bland. The rice nor the fish was seasoned. I had three rolls and out of the three the best was the sweet potato roll. I am looking forward to seeing this establishment from the inside. PS the 15% discount was awesome, hope I go back in time to catch it again!

Best sushi in Rhode Island hands down!!!!!! Go there! Prices and food better than Jackie's water place! We can't wait to go again. Thank you wasabi!

Of all of the Sushi/Japanese restaurants I've been to, this place is #1. Sushi-fresh and yummy. Service- Awesome. Miso soup- YUM. My friend and I prefer the romantic booths in the back.lol The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the food comes out in a timely manner. If you're looking for a great meal with good service this is the place to be.

This area of Rhode Island is full of Sushi restaurants. This restaurant definitely is the top of their class when you compare it to the other Sushi restaurants in the area. One way that I distinguish if a Sushi restaurant is good is the temperature of the sashimi at time it is placed in front of me. The colder it is, the better it is to me. Also if the texture has good consistency and it is not mushy. Almost every time I have eaten at this restaurant, the sushi more than meets my expectations. The Manager is very friendly and always takes the time to see how things are going. He also makes a killer Scorpion Bowl! I did have one experience on an extremely busy night when they first opened that was not great. The sushi came to me warm. I believe it was because it sat in the window for a good 5-10 mins. The manager came over after seeing I hadn't eaten much and gave me a gift card. Every time after that, the food has been fantastic. The service is great especially if you sit at the bar. The atmosphere is good. The lighting is dim and they have great little enclosed booths. If you want a decent priced place for sushi and Japanese cuisine, I suggest this place. Make sure you try the Angry Dragon Roll!!

We stopped in tonight at about 9:45 pm after a comedy show at Showcase Cinemas. The parking lot appeared empty. We weren't even sure if the restaurant was open. We walked in to what looked like an empty dining room. Then noticed what seemed to be the staff sitting at some tables towards the back of the restaurant, eating and chatting. No one was at the front door to greet or seat us. No one at the front desk. After standing there for a few minutes with no acknowledgment, we left. I was excited to try this new restaurant but instead we left very disappointed. That we weren't even noticed coming in the door. We instead went down the road to Yokohama to have a great meal. I may try to visit this restaurant again but I don't know how soon. A slow night doesn't justify ignoring the front counter and your customers. I'm always very patient but I'm sorry I don't find it acceptable.

WOW! The restaurant decor is very nice and there is a great ambiance! I got my food to go and I can definitely say that it was good value. Sometimes I find that the quantity of food I get for carryout food is skimpy. Not so at Wasabi! The rolls tasted really fresh too! We also two of the their dinner entrees - the shimp tempura is delicious!!!

I do love it here. Despite the strip mall location, they've got a good thing going on. Half off all sushi Monday thru Friday from 330-530 brought us there. The variety, quality and service will keep us coming back. Spicy Tuna roll and the Perfect roll were some of my favorites. Four adults ordered a plethora of different sushi rolls. With a 20% tip, the bill was less than $30 and we were all happily full.

I got take out from here while on vacation. Good selection for the menu. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with private booths, and the staff was friendly. I ordered the fried calamari, shrimp and veggie tempura, Amazon roll, curry chicken entree, and chicken fried rice. The calamari was stringy and can be skipped. My boyfriend enjoyed the Amazon roll with white and spicy tuna, strawberries, and avocado. The tempura and fried rice wasn't bad, but I really liked the curry chicken. It had just enough spiciness and the veggies were seasoned beautifully. The chicken was very abundant. HOWEVER, my boyfriend and I both felt nauseous a few hours after we ate. The only things we both tried were the tempura and chicken fried rice, but I don't know which one caused the sickness, but I'd say steer clear just to be safe. I was in the bathroom for hours.

Fabulous first visit! Very fresh sashimi, spectacular "Sweetheart Salad",AMAZING rolls..Immaculate,zen atmosphere, exceptional service! Private booths are romantic, also beautiful space to accommodate large parties. David, the owner was so very kind to give me a tour! YES,there is Hibaci menu, but the cooking is done in the kitchen,so you don't have that smell on you! Also the other menu items look extremely enticing! Make an effort to try this place..Aces above the area competition, including Haruki in Cranston and Kon in Easr Greenwich! I already know that we're going to be regulars!

We went for lunch on a Saturday and it was great. The Sweetheart salad was delicious; seriously, I was very impressed. The sushi was very tasty, not the best I've ever had but truly good. The prices were really exceptional too.

I got the worst food poisoning from here this weekend! I had the pork dumplings and sweet potato rolls so it had to be the pork. Be cautious!!

We have been going to Yokohama since we moved to West Warwick a year and a half ago. Then we saw ratings for Wasabi and decided to try it. Let me tell you... we are never going back to Yokohama. Wasabi has all the trappings of a fancy Japanese restaurant without the cheesy details. They have private booths for couples (we were lucky enough to sit in one) along with regular booths and a bar. We were greeted very warmly even though we arrived an hour and a half before closing (we had trouble making up our minds on where we wanted to go). We were seated right away as it wasn't very busy. The host gave us suggestions on 2 person meals and the waitress was very friendly. We wanted to try a little of everything, so we started with the Yellow-tail Jalapeno and the Salmon Yuzu for appetizers. Along with a Fuji Jade drink for me and a Wasabi saketini for my boyfriend. The Fuji Jade was a very mellow drink, but tasty and the saketini was very flavorful and left a hint of strength as an aftertaste. First came the Yellow-tail. The presentation was fantastic. I really wish I had my camera to capture how well everything looked. It was yellow-tail with a slice of jalapeno with small orange roe in the middle. I'm not a fan of spicy food, but even I went back for seconds. The sauce it came in was sweet and lemony, then the jalapeno added the spicy kick at the end. Phenomenal. We then had the salmon which wasn't spicy but the sauce was so sweet we were licking our fingers by the end (the fish was so tender we couldn't keep it together with our chopsticks!). Then came the main meals. I got a Spider roll (deep fried soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado, lettuce with special sauce on the inside, and small orange roe on the outside). The plate looked gorgeous. My boyfriend and I polished it off in no time and even ended up eating some of the garnish and the extra ends of the roll. It was so creamy, crunchy, warm and flaky. Everything a spider roll should be. He got the Ichiban roll (how very cliche you might think) but when it came out, we were both amazed. It had a seaweed salad and crab meat spicy mayo topping and the roll was stuffed with seared tuna and asparagus. It was so creamy and tasty that it didn't last long either. I'd never had asparagus in a roll before but it was soft and completely complemented the many tastes of the roll. The best part of the rolls was that nothing was overpowering, all flavors worked together to create this wonderful mixture that pleased all taste buds. All the while, the waitress was very pleasant even when we took extra time to look over the whole menu (there's so much to choose from!). My boyfriend had just finished his drink and she walked up and asked if he wanted anything else. He got a Mai Tai which was fantastically strong but delicious. Then came dessert. My boyfriend indulged in a limoncello swirled gelato. The gelato was so cold that the limoncello was more of a syrup and it was fantastic. I had the chocolate mousse which looked heavier than it was. There's a small layer of fluffy chocolate cake on the bottom and a soft white mousse layer on top. The whole thing was covered in a light chocolate layer with whipped cream and a cherry on top. It wasn't so heavy you couldn't finish the whole piece, like at most places. All in all, we had a fantastic first visit and we will definitely go back soon. The variety is something that will keep us going back. We want to try the sweetheart salad for 2 which has salmon, shrimp, crab meat, asparagus, avocado and mixed greens with a citrus ginger dressing. There is just so much to choose from and the quality of service, presentation and most of all, taste will keep us a regular for life!

I tried out the place shortly after it opened. I think this is owned by the same folks as own another Wasabi in Johnston. First, despite the name, this is NOT a Japanese restaurant. Tip-off: the rice is long-grain Chinese style. Another tip-off: the folks who work there were speaking Chinese. Anyway, I ordered shrimp tempura. Although it was reasonably tasty, it clearly wasn't authentic. The veggies seemed to be freshly battered and fried. However, I'm willing to bet that the shrimp were prefab frozen. They weren't battered like the veggies, but instead were covered in panko and seemed to be all the same size and shape. Next time I crave Japanese food, I'll go to Haruki instead.

Stopped in for takeout and the very friendly staff that asked us if we want a drink at the bar while we waited for our food. The wait for the food could not have been more that 15 min but while we were waiting they brought over complimentary appetizers for us. We order two rolls and some garlic broccoli. Everything was tasty. I plan on returning again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city.
