Blt was delicious had a few things added... Fries were decent better with hot sauce... I actually did not care for the dirty rice. Was a bit to mushy. The hot and spicy wings were yummy! Not that hot or spicy in my opinion. I wouldnt feed them to my seven year old but they needed the extra kick from the hot sauce. They reminded my of spicy asian wings. They were fried then cooked in a wok coated in the sauce garlic bits of ginger and topped with green onions. Also there were 8 pieces. They were tasty and I will get those and a sandwich next time! I was not a huge fan of the ginger ale but it was a nice change compared to the usual fountain or bottled drinks. The bread was fresh and soft lettuce was green and fresh tomatoes were juicy not gooey.

Yes it is cash only--SO? If you have tried this place you are missing something great. Just bring your cash and go there now!!

Had lunch here for the first time. I was not impressed. The sandwich bread selection is a bit like Subway, i.e, 6-inch and foot-long. I ordered a 6-inch turkey, ham and cheese to go. Well, there was one piece of ham, one piece of turkey, and one piece of cheese, and lettuce and tomato. The price with tax was $5.24. The bread was fresh and the sandwich was otherwise good. Maybe you get more with the speciality sandwiches, but I don't plan to go back to fiind out. I'll go to subway where you get a little more for your money.

5 star sandwich joint, no foo foo, no fuss, nothing pretty, just great service original sandwiches made fresh New England style; if you don't know what that means, forget about it...

I spend 2 weeks a month in Warwick and always make sure this place in on my list to eat. I do not like to eat at the same place everyday so I tend to search out new places to eat. The junction is one I always come back to. It gets a 5 star rating and a 3 G rating. The people are Great, the sandwiches are Great and the price is Great. I have brought several people to join me here to get lunch, everyone states the same as me, great. Also do not forget the deserts, I can not go there with out leaving with a brownie, cooke or some other desert

Great variety of sandwiches. CASH ONLY! Has a train suspended from the ceiling. (right on the dead end of Kilvert Street near the train tracks) lots of staff but only two people making sandwiches. My favorite is the turkey with cranberry!!

  • Ryan W.

First problem is that they only take cash. It gets really busy at lunch time so get there early. Food is okay Although I've only tried a couple of sandwiches. Small dining area isn't that comfortable or welcoming. Get it to go if you eat here.

For those of you not familiar with Post Road, Kilvert Street is directly across from Bertucci's. Sandwich Junction is at the end of the street. There are about 6 or so parking spots in front. I was told by a staff member the empty lot across the street and the back of the building has more parking. I went after the lunch rush. Walk in and step back in time. I felt like I was in a 50's lunch spot. Train memorabilia on the walls and a train set hanging from the ceiling. If the walls could talk you would be taken further back in time. The building was a Post Office, also was a stop for the mail train. As if on cue, a train rumble by to give me the full experience. It's cash only and counter service. I got a Diner Car sandwich, meatballs, sausage, provolone on an Italian torpedo bun with tomato sauce along with an order of fries. The Diner Car overall was very good, it came promptly, It was quit hot with the cheese melted well. Nice and fresh bread. The sauce was slightly sweet with spices to counter. I enjoyed it very much, smooth which is how I like it. The meatballs had the prefect meat to mix ratio for me, soft and absorb the sauce well. Being picky, since we are all not perfect, one meatball in the middle sat to long in the warmer which altered the taste. The sauce, cheese, and bun made up for it. The sausage was like your Nana made it for Sunday gravy. It was only 1 meatball in the middle, the other 2 were fine. Wish there was one more piece of sausage. The fries were very hot and slightly undercooked. They were crispy and not oily. Just wished they were seasoned when taken out of the fryer. Salt or a spice mix really would have made a big difference. As the fries cooled off there was no sign of being undercooked and were much better. I just had to keep salting to have them stand up to the sandwich. Sandwich Junction served me an excellent lunch. I want to be clear, the Diner Car was a 9-9.5 and the fries were an 8. I really wish Yelp would adopt 1/2 stars. Would be 4.5 stars. I was told owners also own bar next door.

The Freight Car is potentially the best Italian grinder that you could ever have. The hot relish that they use really ties everything together. It's as filling as a sandwich gets without being too big or over the top. I work second shift, and it hurts that this place isn't open til past 4pm.

It took time to find this wonderful sandwich shop. Great staff tasty food. You should seek it out in provdence. If your going to the airport you be very happy you will be happy you stopped there

Sandwich Love Tried the SJ last week and boy am I glad I did. The Junction is a small sandwich shop that has been around since the late 70's. It also hasn't been updated since then as well. But WHO CARES!!! Please don't change. The shop makes several different specialty subs on fresh Italian bread. All prepared foods are made on premises and they only use top quality cold cuts. The Order: The Freight Car (Classic Italian) Train Wreck (Sausage and Meatball) Cup of Dirty Rice Soda All items are delicious especially the dirty rice. It's a must order if you go. Total of 2 people 16 bucks, so for the food quality and the old school character/service, it's a bargain. Tip: Cash Only and don't forget the dirty rice. Thanks

A great stop near the airport. Great local flavor to get away from chain restaurants. Loved the atmosphere and service.

Cash only - repeat, cash only! Cool little place for lunch, good portion sizes and good service. The bar next door is a good spot as well - Track 84.

Living on the west coast, I REALLY miss good sandwiches like I had growing up in CT. I stumbled upon this place after a random rerouting to the TF Green Airport. Oh man, it was fate! I had the #8 Italian and wish I ordered the whole instead of the half. It was what an italian sandwich should be. The place is blocks from the airport and I WILL be back!

Sorry guys. I don't get it. This place is mediocre on every level (although the building is very cool). I'm not here to dump but when I see all these five star ratings, I have to offer some balance. There are SO MANY other places with better food in this price range in this area. SJ is clean, the ingredients are fresh and the place is quaint. But it's no great value and the bread... MY GOD, people, the bread. A great sandwich IS ALL ABOUT THE BREAD (see review for Antonio's bakery, also in Warwick). This is not good bread. This bread was "baked" in a factory and shipped in plastic bags in large trucks. Great bread is baked by a baker in a bakery, served the same day. Antonio's, Borelli's, Venda, Seven Stars, La Salle Bakery... all places within shot of SJ who know the difference between making a sandwich and creating a "sangweech"(sp?). And there is a difference. SJ has a place in the market. They've been around forever and will likely remain. But please, people. Keep your five stars for Seven Stars.

AWESOME JOINT! It's down at the end of a street off the railroad tracks next to "TRACK 84" which looked like a great little Pub/Tavern but has since closed which is a Bummer. I heard that it was always pretty crowded & had a great clientele. I had the Italian Connection Grinder & it was DELICIOUS. The bread was perfectly moist but slightly chewy so it held up to the Italian vinaigrette drizzled over the cold cuts. I had the works so shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, hot peppers. YUM! I talked with one of the gals & they have been in service for 27 years? Something like that! I can absolutely understand why. The interior is modest and has all sorts of old authentic Railroad memorabilia. Very kitschy which I love. They have 4-5 wooden booths & some 2 & 4 top tables. I love this place. I am looking forward to returning & working my way through the different Grinder selections. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Stopped by the Sandwich Junction en route from Missouri to a coaching course in MA. The restaurant had a quaint rustic feel that took you back to days of old. The food was very reasonably priced and was delicious. The homemade desserts were a treat as well. While slightly dirty and off the beaten path, I would highly recommend it to those looking for a non chain sandwich shop. I would certainly stop again!

Decided to grab a sandwich, four actually, before getting on a flight at the airport. What a great decision. Sandwich Junction was perfect for a pre flight stop and carb loading. From meatball sub.. to a cuban on a roll which took me by surprise but was actually quite good. I'll return for a sandwich anytime I am flying out of PVD.

This was a cute little place. I was working in Warwick and needed lunch. This place is small-there were a few people sitting at 1:45-so I am not sure what noon would look like. The menu is on the wall. Some of the items are hard to see due to things covering them up. When I was there they had run out of rolls-but they put it on a wrap and it was tasty. The server was nice and they seemed really busy. Little parking in front but a lot in back. I was in and out in about 5-7 minutes as were a few other people about me. Pretty impressive.

Amazing sandwiches!!!! The chicken park is my favorite. Very fairly priced! The staff is very nice and helpful. Only negative, they don't accept cards. Come with cash and that's no problem at all!

Best meatball and sausage sandwich I've had in 35 years. Super friendly folks, large portions, very reasonable prices. Everybody was smiling coming in here.

Great sandwiches made on fresh rolls delivered daily from a local bakery. If you are in the area stop by and try one of the many delicious sandwiches on the menu.

Eat here all the time. Pros: Cheap Not a chain Good rolls Cool place Good sandwich selection Con: Slow service at times Not enough meat on sandwiches similar to a subway

This is one hidden at the end of a dead end road sandwich shops that you would never know it exist. Everything is freshly made and taste good and presented Well. Had the chicken soup and Turkey wrap with fresh homemade pasta salad. Prices are fair and inexpensive I think. The decor is of an old train station. Very small inside but places to sit and eat. Was very busy on this day. parking can be a little tough and only take cash so make sure you have some. will be back here for sure it's worth it.

  • Jay A.

Good, basic sandwiches in a cute environment. I had a turkey & swiss, which they gladly heated up for me. Pretty basic options for toppings (lettuce, tomato, etc). A part of me would like to give a higher rating just because it's good to see a Mom & Pop place like this in it for the long-haul. But truly, there is nothing here that you couldn't make easily at home. Still; better than a chain sandwich shop. Fun to sit in an old depot, and watch the trains go by.

I travel to Warwick a lot for work and always stop here for a sandwich. I always get the freight car and it is amazing. The sandwich has a perfect combination of flavors and always leaves me full. They have a large selection of food and maybe one of these days I may try something else. Make sure you bring cash because they do not accept credit cards. The bar next to the shop has an ATM but it has high fees.

  • Jack C.

Stopped in for a quick sandwich before work about 1 o'clock on a Wednesday afternoon. Small line at the counter about a 10 minute wait, not a big deal so plan for a little extra time if your going around lunch time. Got the meatball and sausage sandwich, which was very good just wished I asked for pepper flakes and parm cheese (my fault). Didnt see anything signs that they had dirty rice though : / The address is kind of misleading but the street it is located on is directly in front of bertuccis on post road on the dead end. I shall be back and will be trying the Italian connection!

  • Mark S.

My wife and I come here very often as we live right down the street. The staff is very friendly and we love the atmosphere. My favorite is the Jesse James and my wife loves the Italian Flyer. I would definitely recommend this place!

  • Gail B.

I have to bump my previous review up to a full 5 stars. This place is so great and even though it's still only open 10am - 4pm M-F and cash only, I don't care, it's that good! Super friendly people & great food. Now, when you want to be extra bad and indulge your bacon addiction, get their BLT with extra crispy bacony goodness. Sooo much better than that lame chain sub place! In fact, stock up for the weekend and get several. You'll thank me later!

  • Cristy R.

Cash only at this little eatery! Small, cute and perfect for a lunchtime bite! I feasted on a small Caboose - eggplant, meatball, and provolone cheese hot sandwich. Trust me, a small sandwich will leave you full!! The gravy (or sauce as some of you might call it) paired delicously with the sandwich fillings all for only $5.15. Great deal! I didn't order the dessert this lunch trip, but their freshly made peanut butter brownies were begging me to take them home. Maybe next time. Support local business and try this gem in Warwick! Check out all the old photos on the wall.

I wish I had found this place sooner, as I have been driving to Sandwich Hut in Providence when I want a great sandwich. I have wanted to try this place for a loooooooong time but was put off by the awkward location. I saw the great rating on yelp and decided to go for it. Sandwich Junction does NOT disappoint! First off, it was pretty much dead at lunch. There was only one other customer in there at noon. Every table was open and there was great variety to the menu. On other yelpers recommendations I tried the Freight Car. I ordered a small which was just under $5 and I got it as is. It came with Italian meats and cheese, tomatoes, thinly sliced white onion, pickles, oil and oregano and I asked for the much lauded hot pepper relish. The small was quite filling and tasted well balanced and, in a word, PERFECT. The decor is interesting. There's a model train track suspended from the ceiling and various antiquey looking things on the wall. It was certainly not boring. The service was great. The employees were very patient and friendly. My order came up quickly. It is cash only and closes mid afternoon, but this quaint sandwich shop is a winner. I really have no complaints. I'm so glad I finally stopped in.

I found this sandwich shop on yelp while waiting to pick up someone from the airport. In preparation for a picnic lunch with my parents I ordered 4 sandwiches based on the personal recommendations of the people behind the counter and they were all amazing. Nobody had a complaint about any of the flavors. The large size is really really large. Highly recommended.

  • John C.

Not gonna lie.. I was a little weary as I was pulling up to this place since it is just a small shop way off the beaten path. However, the quality of the sandwiches here is beyond amazing. I ate the steak sandwich and my brother got the Cuban. We were both raving about how great they tasted and we can't wait to go back. The only negative thing that I would say about Sandwich Junction is that they were out of the dirty rice and the pastrami.. But hey, that's to be expected with local joints like this one. Service, quality, and price would receive a 10/10

Went here for "Lunch" (at 2pm). Place was dead... my girlfriend and I thought there was something wrong. The only reason why we came is because of the stellar reviews this place gets. The menu was a bit hard to follow. I actually didn't see the lit up signs with all the sandwiches until I really looked. It was hard to follow with the paper price signs. Anyway, my eyes locked onto a steak sandwich combo that came with fries, and man I was hungry! The woman at the counter was super nice and sent the order to the kitchen. I ordered mine with cheese, mushrooms, onions and peppers which cost extra FYI. We took it to-go and I really couldn't wait to get into the food because it smelled so good. I don't even know where to start. I didn't really expect much to be honest. The steak, man! It was nice and soft, cooked medium just like I ordered. It was juicy and melted as I ate it, almost like prime rib. AND the peppers! oh man! They were roasted, so they had the little char marks on them and tasted mmm-mm.. good. I can understand why it cost a little more for the fix ins. The bread was perfect for this sandwich! I can't wait to try this place again after having this. The woman made sure we went home with plenty of ketchup for the fries which were decent. I mostly split 'em with my gf. Her wrap was good, I don't recall exactly what she had, but I remembered it tasted like it had thousand island dressing on it. If you have the opportunity to try this place, please do yourself a favor! (Keep in mind it is only open until 4pm, I made the mistake the first time) As I'm writing this, I noticed that someone had a beer at the bar next door and the sandwiches were sent to her, I will definitely be trying that!

My yelp really came thru with this sandwich shop. A perfect lunch, great prices and a nice assortment on the menu. It's the kind of place you want to try everything. Yes, cash only so if you read your Yelp reviews, your well prepared.

  • Bill D.

The textbook definition of "off the beaten path." Even our GPS got a little lost trying to find the place. And yet, it was pretty busy when we went. Not a lot of dine-in customers, but a steady stream of people popping in, getting their sandwiches, and heading back out. Clearly a lot of them were regulars, so that's a good sign. And good sandwiches, too. The bread was perfect - firm but not too hard - the ingredients were tasty, and everything was prepared pretty quickly, even the sweet potato fries which they said would take 15 minutes but didn't. And they were great sweet potato fries, too. So if you don't know exactly where you're going, it might be a little like looking for Brigadoon. But it's worth the hunt.

Little mom and pop place. Cozy with a surprisingly varied menu. Had the "Freight Car" sandwich. Local fresh bread made the meatball sausage sandwich better than most! Definitely recommend it! Cash only btw. Ps: you can buy your food there and eat at the bar next door if it's that kind of day lol. Enjoy folks !!

The Sandwich Junction is one of those Rhode Island nonpareils. Its been here since the late '70s, long before the (great) bar next door became a fine beer destination and generally cool hangout. My go to choice is always the Tutto Italiano, small if I just want a sandwich and large if I want some for later too. Its an archetypal classic, Italian Grinder, that the sandwich chains can't quite put their finger on. A little Prosciutto, Genoa Salami, sharp Provolone, and greens, dressed in vinaigrette. Simple and fantastic. The serve other stuff here too. There's always a soup of the day, if you're lucky its Tuscan Chicken and White Bean, or 12-Bean soup with Sausage. The Antipasto is pretty much the tasty Italiano without the bread, or you could get a Train Wreck, a hot meatball and sausage sandwich. Oh yeah, they serve Boylans sodas too, Boylan Ginger Ale A++ my friends. Now, the downsides, they close early (4pm) and its cash only, so plan ahead.

I work around the corner from this place, and I am SO GLAD I do. This is the most amazing sandwich place. They have a huge array of sandwiches, both traditional favourites and their own inventions. My favourite is the Mail Car - salami, provolone, pickles, lettuce, and mustard. MMMM. There's homemade rolls, big portions, fresh veggies, spicy dirty rice, fresh soups, AND homemade desserts. They're cash only, but the prices can't be beat. My regular order of a foot-long sandwich, a bag of gourmet chips, and a homemade cookie or whoopie pie is SEVEN DOLLARS and change. Where can you beat that? Subway (pfft) certainly can't.

A sand which place that can be hard to find but well worth the search. If you are going to the chain sand which places you will be amazed when a place uses the best breads, meats and cheeses instead of the mass produced crap.

I got a small (enough to feel full) Cajun turkey sandwich- it was fresh, not heavy, and delicious. There are so many sandwiches to choose from, and they will adjust to what you like (bread vs wrap, a change of meat, etc...). Quaint, local, and good service, as well.

I stopped into the Sandwich Junction on the advice from a co-worker and what a good tip it turned out to be! The place is a throwback to an earlier time and place which in my opinion is a good thing. The building was a former Post Office and has a Kitschy decor of old train memorabilia giving the place a kind of "your friends parents basement" from childhood feel where the Dad had decorated it, which I consider to be high praise! They are located directly next to the train tracks giving you a slight jolt when the Acela flys by but no worries...I ate the "Junction Cuban", a sandwich with Cuban style pork, ham, melted Swiss, pickles, mustard and chipotle mayo on a toasted roll. The food was good. Service was friendly and the decor a great throwback for me. I'll come again and recommend that you do as well!!

Place hits the spot. You all have to get the spicy rice. I only had the Italian and it rocked. Small sub cup of spicy sticky rice, bag of chips and a Boylan soda for 10 bucks!! I could not even finish my chips. I love little hole in the wall places like this! It would be hard to believe anything they make would be bad. Can't wait to come back next time in Warwick!

Amazing sandwiches, adorable local spot, friendly staff that makes you feel like family. So many choices, hard to decide on which sandwich! There is a bar (Track 84) next door. We ordered and paid for our sandwiches and then they brought them to us at the bar next door so that we could enjoy a cold microbrew with our sandwiches :). Highly Recommend!

I absolutely love this place. The sandwiches are great and the homemade desserts, wow. I would suggest the brownies or the original blueberry dream. Imagine a carrot cake but with blueberries. YUMMY!!!!!

With how much I like sandwiches, I can't believe I've been working around the corner from a place with the word sandwich right there in the name for over five years and never tried it until this week. I wish I hadn't waited so long. One of the reasons why I did wait so long is that it's one of those "out of sight, out of mind" type places. Located at the end of a dead end with no advertising that I've ever seen, the only thing that drew me to the place was the fact that the word "sandwich" can be seen on their sign from the end of the street. They might be a tad bit overpriced. It was $8 and change for a large and their large isn't exactly the $8 overstuffed two meal super sandwich you get at a place like J's in Woonsocket. They'll also charge you an extra dollar if you want a pickle. The smalls are all around $5, however, and those with smaller stomachs could absolutely leave happy after one of those. You could also add a small side salad for $2.50, but I didn't try it so I couldn't tell you how it is. What you do get, though, is very good. I went two days in a row for lunch and left happy both times. I really liked their Junction Cuban, a spicy ham sandwich, and their Italian. Both times I was greeted by the same friendly lady who quickly put my sandwich together and both times I was satisfied at the end of my meal. This is definitely a place that's worth trying and I'll make it a point to take advantage of its closeness to work a little more often.
