Ice cream and more One of the perks of living near the water is the multitude of ice cream places nearby. Not only the ubiquitous DQ's, Friendlys, Newport Creamery's, Rita's and Ben & Jerry's, but a seemingly endless supply of different places on virtually every corner. Dear Hearts has about 4 or 5 stores in the area and the one on Shore Rd is a small take out place. Nothing fancy, you just go up to the window, order your phenomenally caloric treat and then plant your butt on a bench and consume it. Just like people have been doing forever. The ice cream is delicious and the servings and toppings generous. Perhaps the only problem is that there are just so many places in the area to get ice cream that is's difficult for any one place to really stand out. Dear Heart's is certainly one of the better ones as long as you don't mind sitting outside. So if you get a craving for a couple of thousand useless but extremely delicious and satisfying calories check out Dear Heart. Nothing special or extraordinary. Just a very good place for ice cream. However you better do it fast. Things change along the beach this time of the year and in a few weeks the plethora of ice cream places will just be a summer memory. Hibernating until the spring and warm weather returns.

Ice cream is delicious! Make sure you look everywhere they have different menus depending on what side of the building you look... And you often have to ask for napkins as they don't have a dispenser. But they serve Bliss ice cream which is local from Attleboro, MA.

The service here is absolutely great. They have some of the nicest girls working here. The prices are overall cheap for ice cream but some of the prices for extras like toppings can add up quickly. Love bliss ice cream too!

The W. Shore Rd location is very close to me and for a quick fix of soft serve, this is where we head. It's good, not great ice cream but we've always had really nice servers and like I said, there's a lot to be said for close when you MUST have that cone! I took off 2 stars for once getting really stale ice cream (hard ice cream). It was early in the season and I honestly think it had been in the freezer all winter. Ugh. Also, the prices are bit high for the type of place, but then it is RI, so we grin and bear it!

Ya, I have had a lot better, after several stops at this place, I decided I won't go there any more. Stale cones the first time and the ice cream was tasteless. Gave it a second try, cone was better, but ice cream? Waste of money. I would try else where
