A friend of ours was recently lamenting the lack of good American Chinese food in Rhode Island. Oh, but we knew exactly the place he should go to. The food is really good, but the decor absolutely rocks. It's one of those throwback '50s style Chinese/Polynesian type places with tiki decorations everywhere, a fountain, and these really cool globe lamps with multicolored plexiglass stuck all over them. Seriously, the place looks like it hasn't been updated in at least 30 years, and I hope they never do. We came in and chatted with Eddie, the waiter/owner, who said that he'd be right back with our bread. "Bread?" I asked. "Yeah. Dinner rolls," he replied. "At a Chinese restaurant?" I asked. He answered, "Welcome to Rhode Island." Welcome indeed. Don't hope for anything resembling authentic here. We usually get tofu with vegetables and vegetable mu-shu, with an appetizer of crab rangoon. I never order crab rangoon anywhere else, but it's so good here that we get it every time. Portions are large and not expensive. My two-year-old son enjoys the dinner rolls, too. The more I come here, the more I realize that everyone who comes to this place is a preferred customer. The owners, Eddie and Nelly, treat everyone like they've been invited to their home for dinner. BTW, they have an extensive drink menu with funky tropical drinks with umbrellas in them. I think this would be a great place to have a bachelorette party.

I have no idea how people give this place positive reviews. This place is filthy inside! If the dining room is that dirty, I can just imagine what the kitchen looks like. The dining room is almost as scary as the man usually behind the bar.

I am a new yorker and have tried several chinese restaurants. I came across this place through yelp while traveling to providence. This is high quality and artfully made food. Probably the best combination plate I have ever had not to mention the elvis polynesian type atmosphere.

so we went to this place after reading the reviews. i must say it was ok. I didnt care for there egg rolls actually they were bad. the general chicken was above average, the owners wife was our waitress and she was awesome. the place was empty not sure if it always is. i like the style very 50's seats needs to be replaced. fried rice was awesome. so in closing i would order general chicken and egg rolls from the horrible service at lemon grass, fried rice from China Sea and eat by the beach

The best Chinese food I have ever had. So I have been a loyal customer here since I was a small kid living in Warwick. My job requires me to travel around the world and I always have Chinese food so I can compare it to China Sea. Hands down the best egg rolls and fried rice I have ever eaten. The. Shrimp and lobster sauce is my favorite specifically # 29 combination with two teriyaki on the side. Oh by the way the owners are possibly some of the nicest people you will ever meet. My family usually comes once a month with a party of 8 to 10 people and we are treated better at China Sea than some of the fanciest replaces in RI. Unfortunately I will be moving again and will not have the chance to eat here as often however, will be be a the top of my must do list when visiting.

Good friendly service meets sub standard food...meh. Wont go back but at least i wont wonder what could be...alas china sea we were never meant to be. -Owners are personable - Food is well um weird ive had lots of chinese from different states and none quite like this? egg rolls are nasty, general tsao's sauce ok but fatty chicken and the rice was really really good???? way to throw me for a loop. -hate the decor i love kitsch this is NOT kitsch its not cute its not even tacky which i also adore...its just outdated, beat up, and in need of dusting.

I live in walking distance to this restaurant. I moved in and was excited that a chinese restaurant was so close. Dear me this is not a good place to eat at. It is dark, filthy and the food is truly inedible. I went once and never went back. I am so surprised it is still in business and that the board hasn't shut them down. I travel a few minutes down the road to Dragon Dragon when I want my chinese fix. It is worth having to drive rather than walk.

I love China Sea. Its a family restaurant. The owners are great people...they serve your food and your drinks. They Welcome you every time you come in and thank you for choosing China Sea. The food is the BEST in the state...hands down. Egg Rolls are hand wrapped to perfection. The Drinks are Powerful! Great Food and Great People. Its not a first date place to impress... its a low key place.. for food and friends. If your about atmosphere to impress on materialistic people.. China Sea is not right for you.

This is the only place we eat when we are craving that Chinese food. The owners, Eddie & Nelly are extremely nice, and personable. The food is always great, and you definitely cannot beat the prices. It's a place that that wouldn't score a 10 for decor, but scores a 20+ for the food. If you're looking for Chinese, than you must try China Sea!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
