High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Five star stellar experience. The Wharf Tavern is a great place as you don't have to fight beach traffic to have dinner on the water. It has a wrap-around deck that can accommodate many people and water views from the tables inside. Our waitress was very friendly and our food came out in a timely manner. I had the smothered chicken and added cheese- it was simply amazing. Very generous portions of that and red skin mash potatoes. My friends also had excellent seafood dinners. It's always a favorite spot. I hope the sister restaurant "Gristmill" adopts some of its recipes and menu items as that place needs a menu overhaul/recipe overhaul!

Wharf Tavern is located right on the water in Warren. I met some friends here for drinks and appetizers. We sat in the Lounge and had a great view of the water from the many windows. Service was pleasant and efficient. Two of us were drinking white wine and one mixed drinks. No complaints from two of us, but one friend was certain that his third glass of wine was a completely different wine than what he had been drinking previously. We ordered potato skins, chicken tenders and the steamers, which were on special. The potato skins and chicken tenders were pretty good. The steamers had an off smell and many of the shells were broken. For a restaurant that is right on the water, supposedly serving fresh seafood, this didn't sit well with me. It makes me wonder what the rest of the seafood is like. If I were to go back, and I'm not rushing, I would steer clear of the seafood.

This restaurant was a hot mess. There were 5 of us. My fish was cold and not thoroughly cooked. If I wanted sushi i would have ordered it. My fathers fish was literally not cooked at all!! My mothers dish was so spicy hot even my brother who loves hot food responded wow! My brothers fish was greasy and heavily battered. Grotesque! The only dish they got right was my sister in laws salad. The table of 4 next to us were served and an hour later the fourth person was finally served his meal. Everyone else had already finished their meal. Another table of 2, the guy sent his meal back. Later a waiter walked by and yelled very loudly "is it cooked enough for you". Another table next to us had a problem with their meal. The restaurant was supposed to comp the meal, the bill came and it wasn't comp'ed. 20 minutes later they finally got it sorted and left. In fairness they did offer us other entrees, coffee, drinks, dessert but at this point over an hour and a half had passed and I was done. Net net until they fix the kitchen staff I recommend you save your money and go to a more consistently dependable place. The ambiance was really nice as we went at sunset.

I usually read a yelp review with a grain of salt. Especially when it comes to the customer service side of it. You catch some one on a bad day , rub someone the wrong way it happens. But when you interact with 3 employees and they are all rude to you or give lousy service It says something about a place ... As for the food: App- calamari was descent and worthy of the single star rating. Entrees: wife's food came out wrong , was supposed to be salmon, but she received chicken. And since a food runner dropped the food at the table and ran off and the waiter was no where to be seen for 20 minutes . She ate it ... Even tho we went specifically out for seafood . Chicken btw was a bit rubbery. I got fish and chips , the fish was excellent Once you removed it from the oily sponge of batter it was cooked in . Fries were soggy from soaking up the generous amount of grease dripping of my fish ... Don't make the mistake I made Avoid at all cost

Was in the area had heard good things and was very disappointed. Sat in the pub at a table, asked the bar tender what was a seafood dish they were known for, he stared at the menu for a while and said well I guess the swordfish is good. I ended up ordering the seafood pizza bc he didn't seem to really be helpful. Seafood pizza was just ok, didn't have a lot of flavor and I kept trying to put differnt things on it but nothing seemed to help. The service was subpar as he didn't come around much and for a bartender he lacked any type of enthusiasm. I was just overall very disappointed. I expected to have great seafood and there was very little on the pizza.

Don't waste your time or money. This poor place needs a serious updating. Menu is weak and unhealthy. Service was slow and unfriendly. Restaurant dated. Filthy carpets and rest rooms. Terrific view and plenty of parking. Wasted opportunity. Needs a visit from restaurant impossible. Fatty prime rib, flavorless scallops, baked stuffed shrimp was heavy on the butter. Frozen veggies, in the summer!!!!

Really outdated decor. Basic bland food and unfriendly service. One to skip for sure. Plenty of other good spots in Bristol/Warren to not waste your time here.

Would've given three stars if I was accounting for the view - but since I was facing the dock and a building (with gas smelling water) / I can only give two. Our server Donna, was great, very tentative and checked on us often. Would be the perfect server for any group; kind and made sure we always had what we needed. Now the FOOD... the chowder wasn't bad, in fact it was probably my favorite part of this odd meal. On carefully inspecting the menu I went for a safe - chicken tender and fries... (With a side of ranch of course) the tenders did come out hot but were not crisp, seems like a light softer batter. The fries were a good portion, yet weren't crisp - a bit too soggy for me. The ranch was better then no ranch but almost seemed to taste like mayo? Overall, perhaps a good place for just drinks and the view. (Side note: I took of the third star because I could hear the staff bickering and talking about other employees - in old school and that's tacky to me / do it behind closed doors please!)

NYE 2014. We dropped by for a drink, didn't dine here but, it looks like a nice place, right on the water in Warren, RI. How can that be bad? The bartenders were friendly, as well as the other staff. Seemed like a family of workers. Nice touch! I'll repost when I dine here - hopefully in the near future!

Haven't been there in a long time. Did not know what to exept. We had a wonderful evening. Food was great. Alphonse's service was fun and helpful. Special requests were honored and done in a pleasant manner. We look forward to visiting again with the outside dining and beautiful view

We made reservations and had Valentine's dinner here. We were early by 1/2 an hour and they accommodated us and we were seating in less crowded room near the bar, which we really enjoyed. The view was still pretty (and romantic) despite the storm outside. The wait staff was friendly and service was A+. Our food was delicious and portions were generous. We will definitely be back.

Food is amazing service was great and the view is priceless. We paid exactly what we expected to pay for a 4 star seafood restaurant. I would recommend anyone to come here.

Sorry to say that our experience having dinner here last summer was unpleasant. The waterside location was what brought us there and we sat outside enjoying it. The main problem was the service which I would describe as totally indifferent. We were planning to attend the theater and had to leave at 7:30 and the food had not arrived until 7:15. Then the wine that was brought was not the wine we ordered . When we left all agreed that we would not be back. Great location but don't go there for dinner

I was nearby at a elite event and after lots of Snacks and beer and whiskey decided I needed a meal. My friend said the Wharf Is pretty well known and many people love it there so let's try it. It was disappointing to say the least. It's a nice place and the view is probably amazing during the spring and summer when there's no snow but that would not make up for the food. We sat at the bar table and I asked the bartender what beers he had. He had no idea and walked over to the bar to see. I was thinking Maybe he was new or doesn't normally work the bar ? So no big deal I moved on. We wanted something small so we ordered pizzas. My friend got a seafood pizza and was disappointed in the lack of Seafood on it. She also said it was lacking flavor and maybe needed some kind of sauce. I had buffalo chicken and it was Lacking flavor also. I did not taste any buffalo sauce at all on it. They skimped on the cheese too it was barely covering the pizza. I have heard they are known for their seafood so perhaps I ordered the wrong thing but regardless I don't think I'll Be back.

I was treated to dinner a couple of days after my birthday and really loved what I had. Our server Nick was very thorough on everything and was attentive to me as well as John who was responsible for getting me here. I had the fried scallops and John had the baked scrod which we found to be both delicious. I also had a chicken cordon bleu soup which was totally outstanding. For dessert, John and I shared a triple layer chocolate cake that I thought I might not get through but I managed to finish it. This was truly a great evening at a wonderful place and I highly recommend the Wharf Tavern to everyone!!!

A truly awful Mother's Day Brunch. Went yesterday for Mother's Day Brunch. It was not our first choice, but given the size of our party (9), location needs, and the fact that we did not start trying to make a reservation until a week before, it was one of the few places that fit the bill. Two caveats to the review: 1. I recognize that on some occasions, like Valentines Days, New Years Eve, a wedding, etc. you need to grade on a curve. In this case, even with a perfect bell shaped distribution the Tavern belongs in the lowest percentile. 2. Before booking I read the underwhelming reviews on Yelp and elsewhere, so I was not expecting to be wowed. I was counting on passable food with a good view. I was at least right about the view. So on to the review. Brunch was billed as a buffet, with omelettes and waffles made to order. Lets start with the omelettes. As of this writing they have not arrived. Our waitress (who was very pleasant) took orders from those in our party who fancied an omelette shortly after we were seated. Throughout our stay we inquired with some regularity regarding the progress of the omelettes and were told they would be coming soon. The Wharf Tavern apparently exists in some sort of rift in the space time continuum because after over an hour, we gave up and asked for the check. According to our waitress, the restaurant had one person with two burners attempting to make the omelettes to order for a packed house. I think labeling that management decision gross incompetence is being kind. As to the waffles, they did make it to table, but were not consumed. As my 5 year old (not known for her high culinary standards) asked "why are they soft and mushy." We own a $20 waffle maker. It was a wedding gift (as I assume are all waffle makers). I bust it out a dozen times a year. It is not hard to cook the waffle properly - the machine literally signals when they are done. Apparently not so at the Wharf Tavern. The buffet itself was an amalgam of the omelette and waffle experience. As to the former, the kitchen was not able to keep the buffet even in the ball park of well stocked. When I first went up, every cold station item but one was empty or near empty. At the "lunch" area where we had been promised seafood newburg, roast chicken, lasagna, rice and vegetables, we found rice and a few dried pieces of chicken. We then stood in line for 15-20 minutes while those at front waited for the breakfast area to be filled. When we finally got past the scrambled eggs, sausages etc, the carving station was devoid of the promised beef tenderloin. As to the food itself, when it could be found it ranged from mediocre (over dressed salad, jimmy dean sausages) to bad (dry eggs, soggy waffles) to inedible (poached salmon that was a step up from cat food). To sum up, easily the worst meal I have had out in a decade. We would have a better time doing pretty much anything else, including, but not limited to, lighting the $200 plus we dropped for the meal on fire and watching it burn.

my GF and I went there tonight 8/29/2015 we asked to be seated they asked if we had reservations over 20 tables were empty hostess had to go into another room and see if it was ok to seat us after 5 minutes she came back and allowed another hostess to seat us the fish was over fried the chips were under cooked while waiting to be seated another couple asked to be seated outside and have drinks served outside they were told no can do yet a boat pulled up the got food delivered and booze from the restaurant wtf you tell some one no booze outdoors yet will serve booze to a party on a boat I personally say customers drinking wine and booze on the patio/dock the people at restaurant cannot seem to make up their mind about where booze can be served

We haven't been here for a long time but, when we found they had rebuilt their dock allowing outside seating, we thought we'd give it a try. We were very pleased we did. 5:00 on a Sunday evening there was room outside. We were really more interested in a drink and a sandwich but the lighter offerings consisted only of Apps or flat breads so we decided to go all the way. Having the full gamet of New England seafood plus red meats, chicken, duck and the REQUIRED BY RI CUSTOM, Parmesean, we still opted for a little lighter, so we thought, baked Scrod. Soup or salad, rolls with butter, starch, 1/2 ear of corn and our fish, lightly crumbed by request proved to be no light meal, leaving no room for desert. The food was great, the service was great. The drink was blah but it was our fault. We had been offered a "tall" drink and trying to be good campers we chose that for a warm day. Next time I'd get a normal drink so I could taste my gin. We each had a Chardonnay by the glass and were offered a house with two different upper scale options so we were quite satisfied with our wines. We never looked at the wine list so can't address options. I can't rave enough about the ambiance. The views of the impending sunset accross the Warren River with all the boats returning from the bay was just beautiful. Confirms our choices to do our traveling outside of RI during off seasons. So, long winded though I may be, the Wharf Tavern is a fine place, on the water, outside, with good food and good views! NB: in my opinion, most restaurants are good for children. Of course, mine were always Angels. Well behaved children who enjoy eating out and don't disturb other diners may be taken anywhere. That said, I might have enjoyed a crying baby more than the description of labor and delivery I had from a new mother sans child at a nearby table but..... That's a different story and the luck of the draw.

If I had to sum up my experience here in one word: disappointing. We came on a beautiful Thursday afternoon a week or so ago. Wanting to eat outside by the water we figured we'd give this place a shot. I used to come here when I was little and loved it. Upon walking in it was very dreary inside with horrible, tattered carpet. There were about 3-4 people milling around the host station. When we asked to sit outside you would have thought we were sticking up the joint. Somehow this request elicited fear and confusion. One of the women had to go check something so we just stood there. I took a peek in the giant bar room and it just looked depressing. Finally she came back and another girl walked us out to the deck. There were a few other tables with people but a million empty tables. Not sure what the confusion/delay of seating is out there was. First the positives: The location, deck, view, kick ass. It's gorgeous. Directly on the water with a great breeze and plenty of sunshine. Plenty of seating. Negatives: they had 50's doo wop music blaring. I love loud music but this was terrible. Not exactly the vibe you're looking for when it comes to waterfront food and drinks. I felt like I was at Johnny Rockets at the mall. Waitress was nice but other than taking our order and delivering drinks, was never to be seen again. Someone else delivered our food. She was inside doing side work rolling silverware the whole time. We were planning on spending some time and money here but it was so terrible we just had one drink and lukewarm stuffies. We decided to walk over to Square Peg for better food and ambiance. I recommend you do this too. Or head down to Trafford if you want waterfront and good food.

This is an old RI restaurant and is a throw back to another era. We went on a recent Saturday night and the place was busy. The parking lot and single attendant could not keep up. The patrons appeared to be the Twin Oaks crowd visiting Warren. The chowder was fine and the lobsters were as well. My wife ordered a medium well steak and it was way over cooked. The wait staff was pleasant and professional. Overall an ok meal but not one making me want to rush back.

This is a place that's struggling a bit to redefine itself under new management. We've eaten there a few times recently and have had a mixed experience. The food is good -- the lobster roll is actually GREAT -- but the service was slow and the dining room and bar feel a little crusty and dated. The Wharf Tavern does have a spectacular location, plenty of parking and an old-school New England ambience.

I really want to like this place but I'm afraid i am underwhelmed every time I eat here. What a beautiful location though. I shiver when I think of all the great things this place could be. Please Wharf... You are sitting on a gold mine of a location!

I attended a Baby Shower during the Sunday Brunch. The food was good, and the view was beautiful. We had two waitresses taking care of us and they were lovely, but there was a grumpy waiter that put a damper on everything. He yelled at my niece for taking a knife off of an empty table, then he brought extra silverware & threw it on the table. He also bumped into my friend, with no apology...the management needs to review his performance.

Really pretty setting on the water in Bristol, RI. I attended a baby shower there. The food was pretty good and the staff was nice enough. I would like to go back during regular business hours to see how the atmosphere really is and what the food is like vs. the buffet style the did for the shower. Seems like a cool place to grab a cocktail on the water in the summer.

I recently had my wedding reception in the upstairs banquet room at The Wharf Tavern in Warren Rhode Island. From beginning to end, the staff- including banquet manager Gail- was friendly, experienced and enthusiastic to make this day beautiful for us! Gail was extremely knowledgeable and helped me make decisions based on what I was looking to spend. I've always wanted a wedding on the water, but couldn't find the right place. When we saw the Wharf Tavern and its superb location, we were hooked. The price was unbeatable - the food was good, no complaints from anyone. The meal included salad, hot dinner rolls, protein, potato, veggie, dessert, coffee or tea ... really great for the price. It was said to include soft drinks but my entire party including my open beer & wine bar was charged for soda. Before the event, Gail allowed my wedding planners and I to come in and do multiple walk thrus and load our decorations in the day before and store everything. We went over the meals, head counts, time line of events - Gail was more organized than expected considering the amounts of events she coordinates. I'd also like to make a note that not ONCE from the time I first spoke with her until the day of the wedding did she forget who I was... when I called and spoke with her on the phone, she knew me by name, date, time of event.... it was really comforting to know that no matter how many people she talked to, she always remembered who I was. We started the night off with a beer & wine open bar for 1 hour at an extremely reasonable price. We chose the cheese & crackers for the hour and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful spread, which included fruit too. My guests were overwhelmed by the view and spent dusk outside on the upper deck taking photographs. After a very timely dinner was served, we danced the night away! The bartenders, staff and Gail were beyond kind and all seemed very happy and friendly. The drinks were great, the location was something I could only dream of and overall it was a perfect night!!!! If you're considering having a party and want a location that EVERYONE will talk about, head over to the Wharf Tavern ... it was the first of many parties we plan to have there!!

Three stars means A-OK, so this isn't a bad review. However, in my opinion Yelp should change 3-stars to mean "average". I have eaten in this place twice in the last year, and both times the experience was good. I don't remember the details of the first experience, but I can tell you about the second. The bread they served was delicious (good bread with fresh butter is a wonderful thing). The salads that came with our meals were large and very tasty. The entrees -- stuffed flounder in a cream sauce for me, and baked scrod with a crunchy coating for my guest -- were definitely good. The house wine was good. Our waiter could have been a little more personable (but he wasn't rude or anything like that), and the chairs are definitely not made for large people. Besides that, I and my guest had no complaints. About the chairs, they look like quality furniture, but the backs of the chairs are too narrow for anyone who isn't slender. The chair I sat on was uncomfortable enough that I leaned forward the entire meal. The ambiance in this place is pretty good. Eating on the water is fun. For me, the meal was expensive -- more than $50 for two. If the price were a little lower, I might have given them 4 stars. Update: In 2012, the owner of this restaurant went on the news to complain about the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare"). I decided not to go back for that reason. He apparently employs slightly less than 50 people at more than one restaurant, and he feels constrained because once he hires 50 people, he'll have to provide them with health insurance.

Went here with my family (a total of 13 of us) yesterday for lunch. There were a couple of other large parties going on as well and service was SO SLOW. Our server was George and he was MIA most of the time, never offering drink refills or checking in. It took us almost an hour to get our food. I was starving! The best part of the meal was the bread basket. I started off with the stuffies (2 in an order), split it w my BF and they were pretty good, but heavier on the stuffing than the seafood. For lunch I ordered the Tavern Salad and added the grilled salmon (5 oz) The salad was pretty small and 5 oz of salmon is also really small. I cleaned my plate and was still hungry. Not worth the $20 that it cost. My bf got the lobster roll w fries and cole slaw and enjoyed it. Everyone mostly got salads and sandwiches. No one was really raving about the food. In summary, mediocre food with slow, horrible service. Not worth it! PS the coffee was horrible too

Ah, The Wharf Tavern..... been going there for years, but hadn't gone in a long time... Was somewhat disappointed. What was once a great place, good portions, pretty reasonable prices, has become sub-par.... First, our waitress... her name was Alyssa and she was just awful (sorry!)... She didn't even tell us the specials... how did we know this? When we heard the waiter at the table next to us telling HIS table about the specials.. (we spent all night wishing HE was serving us).... So, she took our orders and said she would get us bread.... bread never came... we had to ask for it during the middle of our meal.... My husband and I both ordered steaks, mine medium rare, his medium.... they got switched and we got the wrong ones (we had to switch them after she put our meals down)..... I ordered the garlic potatoes with my meal and I got rice........ OMG, it was just one clinker after another..... I had two glasses of white wine, in which you get about 2 shots full of wine in a wine glass.... the portions were very small, too, for the price, as others have stated here on these reviews. When we got the bill (which was $125.00 for TWO people) we were charged $2.50 for mushrooms for the steak that we didn't even order! This was a special occasion dinner, and luckily, my husband and I have good senses of humor, because it was just one blunder after another... Wharf Tavern, I'd love to remain a patron of yours, you're in such a beautiful location, which is pretty much the only reason for the 3 stars... (Note: If you go there, ask for the MALE waiter, don't know his name, but he's excellent!.... next time we go there, if we DO go again, we will make sure we are put at one of his tables....)

Had a reservation for 7 PM, didn't sit down until 7:55. Still waiting for an explanation or an apology. Service was below average, as was the food. Not going back anytime soon.

6 of us went for a birthday celebration. 3 ordered the swordfish which was delicious. Others ordered the stuffed quohogs and fried scallops which were not good. Complained to the waitress and she took it off the bill. Thought the food and service was just ok.

My boyfriend and I decided to try the wharf tavern for dinner last night and we both where very disappointed! We had reservations for 8 pm we walked in and where seated. We sat and where greeted by the manager who took our drink order because she said our waitress was very busy but she would be with us shortly. After receiving our drinks we waited for another ten minutes before our waitress finally showed up for our food order. When the food arrived both our drinks where empty and no one ever brought over water to our table. We asked the woman who brought us our food if we could have another round she said sure no problem then never returned. We had to ask for steak knives which took another 10 minutes to arrive from another waitress at this point we still have not seen our waitress again for another 10 minutes after that to see if we needed drinks or how the food was, I wish it got better from here but it just got worse. My boyfriend ordered a sirloin witch was smothered in gravy but it was very dry and he could tell it had been frozen. It defiantly was not fresh!! He said something when our waitress did finally return because he only took one bite of his food and she questioned why. Her first response was ill take it off the bill and asked if he wanted something else at that point too many things went wrong and we left very disappointed!!! We most likely will not return.

Average in every way, except for the service. The service was fine. A once great restaurant that's a shadow of its former self. The major disappointment was the baked scrod. It was a tiny portion for $18, and it wasn't that good. I had a steak which was an excellent cut of meat but it was undercooked and I had to send it back. The calamari was decent and so were the crab cakes. We weren't the only ones who were not satisfied. The table next to us ended up sending half their entrees back. As for the place itself, it is really showing its age. The rug is torn and wrinkled all over the place, the ceiling tiles are sagging and the decor is outdated. The men's bathroom was absolutely disgusting. I won't be rushing back any time soon unless they make some major improvements. No way I'm going back to pay top dollar for mediocre food. The only thing still going for this place is the location.

Just went here today. The location is nice, and the employees are nice. The food is kinda sub-par. They might have switched to their winter menu because the prices were less than are listed on here. If you're in the area it's fine, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it.

I order the Stuffed sole. It was cold and not cooked. I sent it back. It came back still not cook and slightly warm. I didn't eat it for fear of food poisoning. I will never go back there again.

Gave it a third try this past week since the new management...not going back again. My sister and I took my mother for lunch. We have eaten at the Wharf Tavern for many many years...through multiple owners. It continues to decline in the quality of the food and bland presentation. Also, the decor is tired and dreary. Clam roll...chewy clams not at all crispy and full. Wrap...dry and tasteless. Pan-seared scallops...don't know how they were seared, but the burnt ends simply fell off the scallops. The waitstaff was great. Attentive and accommodating. The location was great with pleasant water views. But we were again not thrilled with the food.

I get this place has great views of the bay, but there are so many better choices in Warren and Bristol for a meal on the water. I stopped in with my gf this past summer on a lazy weekend afternoon for lunch and even though family and friends had hyped up Wharf Tavern for me, it really didn't do it for me. While we did have an awesome seat (right on the water), the food was lacking in my opinion. To start my oysters had a tinge of funkiness to them and in this part of RI, with so many great seafood joints, that's just flat out unacceptable. The gf's steamers were mediocre and not washed properly and my lobster roll was the only thing slightly above average we ordered. It pains me to give this place two stars, it could really be a great place. Great location, nice decor, above average service. But if you're going to be a seafood joint on the East Bay, right on the water, your seafood game better be on point and unfortunately with Wahrf Tavern, they have some catching up to do in that department.

Instead of doing the same old scampi, I tried their lobster scampi. For $22 dollars it should have at least as much lobster meat as they put into a lobster roll since the rest of the dish is pasta and some garlic and tomato. I was completely underwhelmed with the portion and the flavor. Boring.

The best seafood restaurant in Rhode Island. The clam cakes make this place a one-stop wonder. Incredible service and perfect atmosphere. Beautiful view and a real treat at sunset. I highly recommend this place for any person in the area. 6/5 would eat here again and again.

Meh. Came here knowing it probably wouldn't be the best food experience (then reviews are quite on point) but was somewhat hopeful regardless. Sat outside by the water which was nice - beautiful day. Our waitress Donna was very nice and attentive, so service wasn't a problem. Had a cup of clam chowder and it was delicious. I got the seafood flat bread pizza - bad choice. It was so soggy and it had foamy white stuff on it that looked like spit. It was so greasy/oily and I simply couldn't finish it after two slices, so I picked the seafood off and ate that. Was disappointed that despite telling them it totally wasn't what I expected (it's not flat bread pizza at all), they charged me full price for it. Bleck. Would come here again for outdoor drinks and that's it.

The atmosphere is great! Right on the water front. The wait staff are very nice and timely. The food was good but not great. The portion sizes were not nearly what we expected. I asked for medium rare steak and it was over cooked. It was a holiday and very busy.

This makes me sad! The location is nice and the fact that you can sit outside on the water is great too! The first time I went here about 2 months ago I loved it. Me and my boyfriend feasted on oysters and some drinks. Then he had the baked stuffed shrimp for dinner which was good and I had fish and chips which was good. But then we went back there about 2 weeks ago around 11am hoping to get bloody marys and oysters and maybe have a little brunch. When we got there we couldn't get oysters until noon which wasn't a huge deal. So we decided on the brunch (only option until 12pm) visually it looked so good! Taste wise is was nothing to write home about. The food was just not good what so ever. Ok the French toast was the only thing I liked. The waffles, eggs, pasta, wings, salad, green beans, meat, desserts etc. were all pretty bad. Rubbery or tasteless. We were very disappointed and its $20.00/pp which for a nice tasty brunch I wouldn't mind but definitely not that. It was less than mediocre. AND the bloody marys weren't all that great either. With that said I would go back for the outside atmosphere and some more oysters but that's about it. Definitely never again for their brunch!

Slightly higher than 3 stars , but not quite 4. I attended a wedding luncheon. The restaurant itself seems a bit dated and a little dark, but the views are beautiful. Servers were very friendly and accommodating, but the whole afternoon seemed quite relaxed. Appetizers were served buffet style and included crab cakes, baked clams, chicken fingers and spicy calamari. Everything was very good. The calamari had a nice kick to it, but the breading got soggy. We started dinner with a salad, that was fresh and crisp. The rolls served were chewy and yummy. For the entree I opted for the Sirloin Steak. The steak was cooked well, but needed some seasoning. Entrees were served with a baked potato and green beans, which were slightly overcooked. The wedding cake was delicious. A lemon cake filled with lemon curd and served with vanilla ice cream, it was quite enjoyable.

Four stars because they were able to take our reservation late on Valentines Day. 4 stars for the food, I had salmon, garden salad, baked potato, my boyfriend had the 7 pepper sirloin with sweet potato fries and chicken corn chowder. The warm bread they serve was good as a starter, we both really enjoyed the food. I had one glass of Pinot Grigio, my boyfriend had a light beer and a diet coke. Our total bill was $60.00, which was reasonable. It was very busy, due to Valentines Day, so for the slowness in receiving the meals I won't complain. Unfortunately we were seated in a section with a waiter that was less than enthusiastic to be there, Alfonso. He was not friendly or attentive, I know it was busy, but as I watched the other waiters/waitresses they were much more attentive and pleasant with their patrons. A note to the owner, PLEASE find another hostess that is more professional. I do not know why for a decent restaurant that you would have hostesses that are in their late teens or early 20's with lip piercings as a first impression to this restaurant. For the latter reasons I would give the restaurant a 3 star.

    (4)
  • Jeremy B.

Only reason I don't give this place a better Star Rating is because of time. It took forever to get our meal. Granted, we came on the fourth.....but the place was empty. It took 20 mins to get our drinks and an hour to get our starters. This is not cool especially when the excuse from the waiter is that he worried other tables may leave without paying (really, where am I?). Food ok, drinks ok however server needed to step his game up! I will try other places before I return if I do return.

Food is uninspired. Oysters are shucked frozen oysters put on cleaned shells. Too many other choices in East Bay to waste the money.

This place has had some ups and downs in the past 6 years. It was very good in the beginning and then they went through a change in ownership. They used to have a separate menu that said "36 ways to prepare lobster". I had many favorites on that menu. The new owners did away with that particular menu and then quality started going downhill. My wife ordered broiled scallops and a majority of the plate still had the catch muscles attached. The waitress was a vegetarian and did not eat or recommend anything on the menu. The place recently went through another change of ownership and the quality and service have vastly improved. The interior is basically the same which is a good thing. Every seat has a nice view of the bay and sometimes you can sit in the open porch area. The menu has been reduced so they can maintain better quality.

I would really give this place three and a half stars, but the service was awesome so I'm willing to bump it up to four. The atmosphere inside sort of reminds me of Gregg's in Providence. It's not exactly modern, but it's cozy. More like a family place than a romantic date place. The view is really nice and most seats in the restaurant allow you to see the water. Their menu has a good variety of basic seafood, in addition to some chicken and steak, salads, and flatbreads. Everyone at the table was satisfied with their meal, including the seafood linguine, crab cakes, and scallops. Our waiter Kevin was awesome. Very attentive without being overbearing. My mom has a ton of dietary restrictions that make it really frustrating for her to go out to eat, and he was so patient with trying to find her the best alternatives to the things she couldn't eat. He even independently subbed broccoli for the veggie of the day (ratatouille) because she had told him she couldn't have onions. Apparently they have a really extensive breakfast buffet for $20 a person, including all basic breakfast items, omelette station, and a couple of lunch entrees, beverages included, on Sundays. I definitely would like to try that out. This is a good, different spot for a nice family dinner or celebration!

I recently returned to RI after 35 years in Minnesota and went to the Wharf many many years ago. I have been going to various restaurants looking for special spots to favor and The Wharf will be one of them. The Caesar Salad was the best I have had in years as was the Seafood Linguini. My date had the Sole Newberg and Smashed Potatoes and we both agreed that we would be returning. The service was OK and felt pushed to order despite available seating throughout. It was a pleasant experience for us and have recommended The Wharf highly to our family and friends.

Had a fun time here on Labor Day. Pulled boat up to dock which was easy to tie up to and went in for lunch. Place is a little older and needs some work, but it is a waterfront establishment and we wanted to enjoy the atmosphere and deck and was not worried about rug! Our meal was fantastic...waitress was funny and good, although when I asked where the oysters were from - she said the water. That is only knock I had, we love oysters and like to know where they are from as they are every bit different in taste as a beer or wine. She went to ask and the told us - somewhere in Mass they came from, that was on the tag. So, my only issue is the chef and management should get that info to the staff so they are ready to answer because we woul dhave perhaps ordered 2 dozen and not one if we knew and liked what they had that day. But just minor slip-up. Meal was great, I gotta say, I went out of the box and ordered the Monte Cristo Sandwich as have not had in sometime and it blew me away!! I will be going back just for that alone!!!! We also had tuna which was very good and a nice bottle of wine. They were busy, a little understaffed on a holiday so wine took a bit, but we got it and all was good. So all in all, we will be back. Just let staff know where oysters are from and create a mignonette with the horse-radish and cocktail sauce and you are all good!

We Googled "Rhode Island brunch buffet," and all of a sudden, glowing reviews of Wharf Tavern's Sunday brunch buffet popped up. With that, off we went to try their buffet, and it was very good. The restaurant itself is really nice and the waterside location on a sunny Fall morning made it a pleasant experience. Along with the atmosphere, brunch itself is very good too. It consists of a pretty wide, yet standard offering of brunch fare including an omelet station, a variety of hot and cold breakfast and lunch foods (eggs, waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, pasta and meat dishes, cakes and muffins) and at such a reasonable price, I can see why it's so popular. Service was friendly and prompt in clearing our plates and refilling our coffee, and my only complaint is that several of the large trays at the buffet remained empty for a while, so we were hindered in our attempt to eat as much as possible in a short period of time, but again, at this price you can't really complain. If you're in the area and looking for an inexpensive and filling brunch, this is worth a try.

Went for mothers day brunch. I'm not a big brunch guy but it was good. The place is under new management and experienced management from what i hear. I look forward to going back for dinner. The menu looks very good. A nice selection of seafood and steak. Looking forward to a return visit and giving them more than 3 stars. I recommend giving the restaurant a try.

Please don't waste your money. I came with my boyfriend on our anniversary. I got their wedge salad with scallops and my boyfriend got the scallop entree. The bacon on my salad was bacon bits and it looked like a side salad. The menu said it had bleu cheese on it. I asked our server if it was bleu cheese crumbles and my server said yes, however, when my salad came out it was smothered in blue cheese dressing. I mean SMOTHERED. Their scallops are not properly washed and we could tell because it was like eating a plate of sand. The presentation looked like cafeteria food. My boyfriends sides were cold, and small. He left hungry! I asked our server when they get their fish shipments in and she said I believe TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS....... WELL WE WERE THERE ON A SUNDAY!!!!! I'm sorry but for the price of a seafood entree, please have fresh fish delivered daily. You were serving me almost 5 day old seafood!! This place ain't what it use to be. It's sad to see such an awesome location with such poor quality and inexperienced servers. If you want seafood you're better off going to McCormick and Schmicks, or some where they get fish delivered daily.

We came here in a large group, with our hearts set on a nice hearty meal, and that's what we got. First off, view is just great. It's a little old-fashioned of a place (as in, I wouldn't want to go there for a romantic date or anything), but still very nice. I got the prime rib, and it was gigantic and very good. The table got calamari and other types of fishy things I don't eat but they all seemed to thoroughly like them. I had some calamari which was very tasty. Overall, nice place and decent food. I'm not a native Rhode Islander but it seems like one of those places that RI families gather for special occasions and whatnot.

My college roommate and I live in California but decided to take a little trip to the east coast. We came to this restaurant with her East Coast family and we were pleasantly surprised. To start of, when we got off the car, we saw that the floor was filled with white crushed shells. They looked really pretty. I have never seen another restaurant here or on the west coast that does that. When we got inside, the girl at the front sat us down within 5 minutes and promptly gave us a baby chair for my friends niece. In fact, the service we got from everyone was nice and prompt. We sat in one of the outside rooms facing the water and the boats. It was a great view esp. since the sun was going down when we were there. We all ordered something differently. My friend and I ordered the lobster bisque and the clam chowder. Both had a lot of clam and lobster and the taste was awesome. We also shared a salad which was ok. They didnt add the walnuts the menu said it had though. :/ If I lived in the area, I would come back again and order the lobster. The table next to us ordered 4 of them and they all looked yummy.

We visited the Wharf Tavern last weekend for their Sunday brunch buffet and were very impressed. We had reservations for 10:30, but when we arrived we were the first ones there even though they started serving at 10:00. We thought this was a bad sign, but out waiter explained that some of the adjacent roads were closing down for a road race that morning so they didnt expect many customers that day. That aside, we were able to sit outside right on the waters edge and we all made several trips to the buffet. They had the standard fare of french toast, bacon, sausage, potatos and then some luch dishes as well like chicken marsala and a fish selection that I cant recall, but remember I enjoyed. They also had an omelette, waffle, and slicing (pork loin if I remember) station as well. There was a small salad bar that also had some finger sandwich versions of a lobster roll and crab roll. An assortment of small pecan, creme brulee, brownies, and other items was available for dessert as well. We were impressed and will definately be back for brunch and to try lunch and dinner when we can. The only down side for us is that it is located on the other side of the bay from NK.

I went there for their brunch buffet in 2009. It was nothing spectacular. The home fries were flavorless, the pastries were forgettable, and the random lunch choices were visually unappetizing. Oh and might I add, there were absolutely no labels/food tags for anything. So you had to pick up the lid, take a peek and guess what it was. Also, lid placement was annoying. No where for it to go, so you had to put it on top of the next hot box. The made to order omlettes were a let down since there was not much choice.. it was meat, meat, or meat. What about us veggies lovers. The brunch was all paid for by my school, but it was still a waste of money.

My bf and I dined at the Wharf Tavern tonight and it was quite a lovely experience, much better than I was expecting. This is definately a review where a half star would be handy, as it was better than okay, but I wouldn't go about exclaiming yay followed by an exclaimation point-a 3 and a halfer. We had a groupon which influenced our decision to come here, but I am glad we did. Excellent views featuring beautiful sunsets if there at the right time. Great bread basket with a a mixture of brown, white, and mini baguette style rolls. Soup or salad come with the entrees(always a plus in my book). My salad was quite large with good quality bleu cheese and his chowder was delish-tasted like homemade. We had the Seafood Linguini which was great, although very garlicy beware!-nice big whole scallops, shrimp, little necks and mussles. Also chose the Salmon with dill cream sauce which was cooked very nicely. Would have liked to see a little more of the dill cream sauce however, it was very litely sauced, more like a glaze. My Argentine Malbec was very good, though would have really liked to see some more affordable wines by the glass and a heavier pour, but hey that's the boozehound in me. Overall a positive experience, not cheap, though I did not find it over priced for the quality. A good and satisfying meal was had with a great view to boot.

Recently went to the new Wharf for lunch. Wasn't very impressed. Got a new paint job and new rugs and plants other than that looks the same. Sat down was told that could order from the dinner menu because there wasn't a lunch menu because they recently reopened. Ordered a glass of wine and bottled water, took the waitress about 10 minutes to come back to the table to say they were out of bottled water, ok give regular, still no wine. Took another almost ten minutes to get water & wine. Ordered soup of the day, chicken Caesar salad and Whatf cheeseburger cooked mw. Waited and waited, never got the soup. Waitress was missing in action: nowhere to be found &i needed a new glass of wine because mine was cover in lipstick. Another server brought the food. Salad needed more dressing, burger had no cheese and was over cooked. Waitress finally came over to check on everything and made excuses about the help. Also said that things were being sent over from the Grist Mill. Food took much to long to come out. Needless to say, wasn't impressed with the food or the service. Probably won't be going back.

Old School! Looking for a place to take the grandparents out for a "nice" meal? This is it. To be fair - the Wharf Tavern has been here forever, the location on the bay is gorgeous and the food is..."country club" "solid." Nothing to really complain about - but nothing that is going to break new ground on your taste buds. There are more interesting options in the area but the Wharf Tavern earns its "A-OK" rating. For a while they were doing a truly "old school" night - where they brought back the menu from the 50s (complete w/ 50s prices.) That was fun to see how much dining out has changed over the last 1/2 century.

The place is very old fashioned! The drinks are very artificial tasting and a choice of seafood is very bland. The white sangria came to us all pink and tasting like a lollypop. The prices are average for a seafood place. By the quality id not the greatest. the calamary came greesy and very small rings. I dont think i will ge back anytime soon.

I suspect most diners end up choosing this restaurant for the same reason we did -- because other, better, Warren restaurants are too crowded. These guys have a lovely space with nice views all around, they just can't seem to get the food-and-service restaurant thing figured out. We tried this today with kids (again, because the Sunnyside looked packed), and we were seated immediately by the window in a nearly empty restaurant. This should have been a tip off. There was immediate confusion about the menu. Even though it's noon, we were told, the lunch menu isn't really appropriate. We should really be looking at the dinner menu, er... maybe, hmmm, or not. We ordered seemingly simple things and after waiting heart 45 minutes were informed by a manager- type that some of the items couldn't be made, um, weren't available at this time. We were urged to stick to simpler fare, burgers and sandwiches. We weren't closing the place mind you, this is now 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon. After another lonnnnng wait, we were served our mediocre Denny's- style food at inflated prices. By the time we left the place was starting to fill up a little and I couldn't help overhearing other diners complaining about the inexplicable menu problems and sending entrees back. My advice? Wait until they figure out this meal preparation and serving thing.

Returned to try the Wharf after several years and two owners, to a decent dining experience (had stopped going due to 'underwhelming' meal in times past.) It was okay for me - not great, not terrible, but okay. The surprising thing was, sad to say, on a Friday night during prime holiday season, the place was almost empty. Unless the new owner that also owns the Grist Mill, does more in terms of promotion or something very quickly, we don't see how the place will survive long, not this way. Four of us for dinner had drinks (martinis, margaritas - ok, well made), apps (shrimps, mushrooms - good actually), dinner (filet - excellent, baked stuffed shrimp - really good, prime rib - just ok). Total tab was under $200 with tip for 4 of us, which was ok (not excessive, not cheap - generous tip included.) The sad thing is, the place is in a beautiful dining view location, has obviously had the interior and furnishings 'refreshed' (took a flooding hit last year), and the waitstaff seems friendly, eager and competent. Service was a little slow, surprising because there were only a handful of parties eating at 7 pm. So, with modest improvement in speed and some promotion, the place might survive and thrive. But I can't see how they can stay in business long with such sparse attendance. Hope someone passes this along to the owners - we want to see the place continue. Happy holidays all.

Went for the Mother's Day Brunch, and it was terrible. The view was great, as we ate upstairs and it overlooks the bay. Service was prompt and attentive. However, I've never been to a buffet where all there was to eat was meat....Thier spread was bacon, prime rib, pork, scallops, turkey, ham, pancakes, french toast, scramlbed eggs, salad, one pasta, and zuchini. Ever hear of hash browns, mashed potato, or vegetables? Would have been nice to have more round meal. The quality itself was lacking, as my entire meal was cold. I have no problem paying for a qualtiy meal, but it bothers me when people charge a high price ($28) and then put out deserts and danish that clearly came from the freezer, where all they did was take the wrapper off and thaw it out. A little effort.

Wow. Went here last Saturday night. After thinking on it, I have two voices in my head. The first is Joe Benigo of WFAN, "WHAT....a disaster". Yep. Had dinner at the bar. Don't get me wrong. This is a great location. They serve you a "nice" drink". Salmon was very good. Looked like the kitchen was doing a decent job. However, the two bartenders couldn't have been any more inept if they ran about in cement shoes. TWO of them and I incessantly waited for EVERYTHING. Wait for a menu. Wait for a drink. Wait for the bill. The waiters and waitresses waited for space to be cleared for glassware to be washed. I know places with similar bar business where ONE bartender keeps up with drinks for the entire restaurant, the bar and serves food at the bar! Something needs to improve, labor, the system, something! But....now for the other voice. Rodney Dangerfield, "that steak has marks where the jockey was hitting it!" Yep. Rib eye. First piece was TOTAL grizzle. Couldn't eat half. They overheard me and gave me another (without me asking! Kudos!). Took it home and it was better, but not what I'd expect from this place. Dinner and drinks (many, because they couldn't seem to get anything done), with tip was $120. The bright spot was the managers who were VERY interested in making things right. as I understand the owner is. I'll give it one more chance, but if I'm waiting again, it will be a curtailed visit.

Go to the Wharf Tavern for fresh local seafood (primarily lobster and clams), prepared correctly, at reasonable prices. Locals know this is what the Wharf Tavern is good at, and that's why they've been going for years. Be aware that there are a lot of other choices on the menu, but they aren't of equal quality. For example, it's possible to have a mediocre meal if you order a steak or chicken dish. Also, beware of ordering seafood that isn't local (e.g., salmon). Know that the service is inconsistent. Some servers are very attentive, will go out of their way to accommodate special requests, and may even allow you some flexibility with the menu (e.g., allow you to split a large meal meant for one person, like a 2 lobster dinner, between two people without an extra charge). Other servers, especially older ones that have probably been working there for countless years, are often slow and unlikely to accommodate any out-of-the-ordinary request unless they know you personally. The dining room is clean and decorated very simply, and the harbor view is pleasing. On the weekend, there is often live music by the bar. The crowd tends to be older, especially early in the evening. There are often weekday specials for discounted lobster. On holidays, go early in the evening or call ahead to be sure they have not run out of lobster. The bottom line is this: If you like lobster, clam chowder, fried clams, and other local seafood dishes, this is a GREAT place to go. If you don't like seafood, go somewhere else.

yes I'm angry and u might have read this on other forums --for those who have not seen reivew: Summer 08 w/group- visit-- asked server reason why larger lobster charbroiled was priced lower than steamed smaller lobster --- server came back and said there was mistake on menu and we must pay higher price...alleged manager came over, with even ruder side boy(asst manger?) who stated they would never put adjustment or menu or put MP and they insist we pay higher price for larger lobster and indeed there was another item on menu with incorrect pricing-same policy...we were angered to no end, AND literally they became angry at us --a few ordered the lobsters which were good which meant they were Delicious to begin , correctly sized, not overcooked, otherwise almost everything else was putrid..the clams left the chowder before being served in the dishwater soup, the swordfish which was mentioned as fresh was tough, thin, and doused in sauce...everything was not good, and top off, they were angry at US!!!!

Sunday brunch 10-2 was great. The place looks great after the makeover...the food and service were both outstanding. You definitely get your money's worth. Make sure you make reservations though for a group bigger than 4.

Had lunch there yesterday. I understand the place is under new ownership. The wine (14 Hands Cabernet, Washington State) and the food (Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich) were both excellent. The service was fine and prices fair. I would definitely return.
