Abner and I used to go here when it was the Nathaniel Porter Inn, so we were pretty excited to give Simply Devine a try tonight. We started off with martinis and the calimari. I got a pear martini and it was one of the best that I have had. Abner got his usual espresso martini. The calimari was very good and the sauce that came with it was very tasty. I ordered the special, which was haddock on spinach with white beans. Abner ordered the New Bedford pan seared scallops. We enjoyed our entrees very much. I read a review below about someone being a pastry chef there, so I made sure I saved room for dessert. Abner and I shared this blondie brownie with ice cream and caramel drizzle. So good. This is a beautiful place for a nice, romantic dinner. I love it in the winter with the fireplaces blazing and the snow outside. There was a nice little bar in the back. Service was excellent. We enjoyed it very much and will definitely be going back.

My fiancée and I prefer to go here in the winter because it has a very cozy old fashion feel to it. The atmosphere is outstanding. Each dining room has a slightly different feel and its very charming. The food is very good, specifically the risotto cakes and the lasagna. Solid bar, had a drink called a "European" last time we were there and it was very good. This has become one of our regular spots to go for dinner.

We've been to Simply Devine on a few occasions now and really enjoy it. Our latest visit was on a very chilly Winter evening and we sat by the fire inside this beautifully restored historical building. We didn't know it before getting there, but on Thursday nights they have a "Buy two entrees get a free bottle of wine" special. Free alcohol? Score! They have a nice wine list and a decent draft list. The wines by the glass seem to be priced a bit lower than some of the other places on Water street. They also have a full bar and while the pear martini was calling my name, I chose to be frugal and go with the free bottle of wine. The prices are reasonable for what you get. On our latest visit we started with the flatbread special, which was onion jam, cheddar and sliced potatoes. Delicious! My husband had the salmon on a bed of lentils and spinach. Thumbs up from him. I had the lemon sesame chicken. This dish is super flavorful and whenever I go and don't order it, I regret it. Highly recommended. Janet, one of the owners, is a pastry chef and always has a very tempting array of goodies to choose from. I passed, but my husband got the chocolate pots de creme. I had a spoonful and it was excellent. We'll definitely be back.

It pains me to downgrade them, but we were so disappointed by very substandard meals. I tried the pan seared scallops, which were tough and overcooked, which is remarkable because the scallops were not pan seared in any way. My daughter's mussels (she loves mussels...) had a nice spicy sauce, but were similarly overcooked, to the point where they were tough and mealy. My wife ordered the salmon and lentils. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and while the dish looked good... it just didn't taste like, well, anything... The salmon was barely seasoned and the lentils had very little added to them. We like lentils, but we expected something that pleases and interests the palate. Maybe they had an off night or are training a new cook, but the food was nothing like what we remembered from 2 previous visits...

Fantastic ambiance, yummy food, & a quaint area of Warren, RI. This adorable historical house restaurant is worth taking the drive for...and save room for dessert! You won't be disappointed.

We are regular customers and bring our employees and clients to dine when in town from Kansas City. On Christmas Eve, two of us (a party of three) wanted to split a meal due a late lunch. The waitress said because it was a holiday they were charging us a "$10 Plate Charge". Her attitude was horrible! She obviously did not appreciate our group ordering less than expected. She also made it clear she didn't like having to work on Christmas Eve. Reluctantly we agreed to the charge. When the meal arrived we received the empty plate, and we're told "we, the customer" would have to handle the actual dividing of the food ourselves. For a plate charge other restaurants divide the meal on 2 plates before delivering meal to it's customers. Throughout the meal we received poor service, and even had to ask for silverware. Upon paying our bill the waitress hurriedly asked us to leave because there was another party waiting. The food was acceptable, but due the attitude of the waitress, poor service, and the owner's "plate charge policy", we have decided never to eat there again.

Cute decor and great music on Saturday night. Tried to make a reservation, but there was nothing available until after 730pm. However, the person on the phone said you can sit in the bar, so come when you want. We gave it a shot. Not a good idea! We did find seats easily, although the bar soon filled up. It was very busy. The bartender had good intentions. She was friendly and took our order promptly. Things went downhill from there. Potato leek soup was blah. My filet mignon came out rare despite my request for medium. The bartender snagged a waitress to help me, who apologized and took it back for more cooking. It came back over cooked and crispy on the outside. I brought it to the waitress' attention. To be fair, I really couldn't hear what she said over the music. She didn't take it back, didn't offer to get me anything else. I thought she said she would speak to the bartender about it. Nothing happened. We waited a good 30 minutes after we finished eating waiting for someone to ask for our dessert order. Dessert was included in the special. I finally got the attention of the bartender. She said she would send a waitress over with the dessert tray. I told her we knew what we wanted. A couple of minutes later, a different waitress appeared to tell me that my choice was unavailable. She offered a few other options. Dessert was okay. It took a while again to attract the bartender's attention. She brought over the bill. I was less than pleased to see a full charge for my dinner and an upcharge for my dessert. Once I explained my concerns, the bill was adjusted without question. In summary, cute place. Poor service. I don't think it is fair to expect the bartender to serve dinners in the bar on a busy night. She clearly couldn't work the bar and tables. Without exaggerating, it was 1.5 hours between the bartender taking our order and the next time she showed up at our table. That last time only happened because I flagged her down. I very much enjoyed the musical entertainment that was playing.

Beautiful historic building restored with a modern, classic touch. A glimmering bar and colonial dining rooms make this a great spot to bring guests looking for a New England experience. I stopped by for after hour cocktails and snacks with two girl friends and was pleasantly surprised by the 5 - 6pm "Appy" hour where all appetizers were half off. The Mezze plate was nothing if not massive and suited the Vegan and Vegetarian in the group nicely. The crab cakes were moist and the risotto cakes were indulgent in a flavorful and fresh Marinara. Will definitely return with friends for dinner soon and will make this a regular destination dinner spot on the East Bay!

The food was okay, and this review probably would have been 3 stars if the service was better. Our waiter took forever to come to the table to even take a drink order and took even more time to take our food orders. He apologized and blamed it on having a party to tend to at the front of the restaurant. Add the bad service along with the fact that the food was nothing to write home about. Charming atmosphere though!
