Hello, first time here, suggestion of local friend. Had lunch, very good service.....food was well prepared.....it has that big open, at a wedding feel, the window tables are nice. Good Portuguese food I'd say. Must return to try more!!

I always write reviews with the " for what it is" point of view, so here we go. I grew up in Tiverton, went to Ranger school ( now gone) and had driven by there my whole life and never went, never knew anyone that went and never heard anyone talk about Barcellos. I just bought a house down the street and decided, 33 years is long enough. From the outside , you don't know what your getting yourself into. Apprehensive at best, we walked in to find a recently remodeled restaurant. It's not fancy. It's straight forward, no fluff family establishment. We were greeted with a smile and we're seated immediately. I opened thr menu and thought 2 things. This menu is way too big for them to be good at cooking all these things and that the prices were very reasonable. Our waiter came over and took our orders and the food arrived in a timely fashion. Kale soup was excelent! Entrees were shrimp mozambique, Prime rib, and seafood extravaganza! All 3 of us were ecstatic with our food! 5 stars because I am shocked at the value and the quality ! Rule of thumb. Don't judge a book by its cover, especially when what is inside makes your mouth water ! Looking forward to our next visit !

Gross! Worst excuse of Portuguese food, terrible service and even though there was a hair in my food (blonde & I am a brunette) they argued with me that it was mine and some how got UNDER my steak. Then they charged me full price for a meal I had 2 bites from and didn't offer to make me anything else!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

I've tried a lot of dishes here and they are all delicious!! The Boston baked scrod and chicken Mozambique are my two favorites. each dish comes with a soup or salad and bread... Always a plus for when you show up to a restaurant starving like I usually do. I would highly recommend this restaurant and whenever my friends are in the area I always bring them! A must try!

Such a sweet family! The owners are always available and mingling with their guests, and the food is great! We love the shrimp Mozambique, and have ordered it for several parties.

Too many Portuguese infused restaurants around here. The food was ok, just ok. Nothing spectacular... The service is great though

Haven't been here in a while and now I remember why my wife didn't even eat her pork and little necks and my stake plate had no flavor

We went here on the recommendation of friends that they had some of the best seafood. The decor is very nursing home chic and as for the seafood I couldn't tell you as everything was drenched in this horrible sauce that overpowered the seafood. I'm giving 3 stars because the execution was off but everything else was fine.

I want to give this place a good rating simply because the staff is so nice and sweet and you may want to take my review with a grain of salt because I'm not obsessed with Portuguese food like most folks in the area. Compared to the other great Portuguese restaurants around, it's pretty pricey. Most places, you can get a grand 'ol steak doused in garlic cloves and topped with half the sliced potatoes in Idaho and it'll still cost you under ten bucks. I've always admired the value of Portuguese food more than the flavor - though I've had some pretty good meals. Here, the Portuguese steak is about $15 bucks and comes in a little bowl topped with the egg, the fried potatoes, but NO garlic? What gives? That's my favorite part! Chicken Mocambique was spicy but with little flavor otherwise. The portion was large enough for two meals, but I didn't really want the leftovers. Salad had about two leafs of lettuce in it (I know it's complimentary, but c'mon I love salad). I didn't try the Kale soup, but my boyfriend who is biased towards Portuguese food said it was great. Overall, I just wasn't impressed and maybe I have all the five-star reviews on Yelp to blame for that but I wouldn't come back except maybe to hang out in the bar which looked like a lot more fun than the quiet ballroom style dining room.

We had a family function here and all went perfectly. The food was was excellent, I like the family who runs the place and their staff. The restaurant & facilities are immaculate. Also, stopped in for lunch before the event and it was excellent.

Great place to take the whole family. The food, service and atmosphere is very good. Nice family owned and operated restaurant that gives you professional and personal service. My favorites dishes are the Barcellos Steak Portuguese style with the House Fries, also love the Shrimp Mosambique and of course you have to have the Portuguese soup. I would recommend that you give it a try. You won't leave hungry! Price is affordable too.

Can't attest to the dinner menu..but came for lunch/sandwiches and sat in the bar area. Waitress was extremely courteous and provided us with lunch special menus. Had the Portuguese Pork (can't pronounce or spell it) sandwhich which was terrific and huge. Came with a side of Onion rings..couldn't finish it. My friend had an equally huge chourico sandwhich and onion rings..he finished his. With two sodas..less than 18 bucks. I'll be back.

This place is definitely getting 5 stars. Now, it isn't the height of culinary excellence by any means but wow did we get a lot of average to above average food for little. First, the place itself. Easy to get to and worth the drive. Inside, looks like a wedding reception hall all the way down to the table and wall decor. It looks like a banquet hall, really. That was funny. Second the staff. VERY family oriented and friendly. I loved it. Third, the menu. It was LOADED. I usually don't like menus of this size and really this was no exception. BUT, the prices were GRAND! Nothing was over $30 including the most expensive dishes involving lobster and a fillet etc. As with any restaurant on the coast serving a lot of seafood many of the menu items were marked as "Market Price". We were starving so I asked with the market price was for this seemingly large dish: Surf and Turf: 1 1/4 lb lobster, scallops, shrimp, 8 oz Fillet, soup, bread, vegetable side and potato side. I decided that anything south of $45 and I would get it. She said it was $27 and I said SIGN ME UP (turned out it was only $25)! The sad thing is after my initial excitement wore off the only thing I could think of was the long 90 minute ride home after. Anytime you get a "bargain" on seafood it seems that there's a 50/50 shot of it, ummm, not sitting well.... Anyways... my friend actually got the same thing. The food came out and it was good. The only thing was that the bacon-wrapped fillet mignons were undercooked compared to what we asked (I asked for medium-rare and her medium). Mine was rare (cool bloody center) and her's was medium-rare. I ate mine anyways, it was buttery and melted in my mouth. She ate some and then had them cook it a little more. The rest of the food was ok. The lobster was split and "gutted" like it was going to be stuff but it was instead broiled without the stuffing. That left some of the meat a bit dry. The other items were cooked with a kind of smoky cajun spice which wasn't great but was ok. The sheer volume of the food was unreal. The kale soup was great too. Potatoes and vegetables were an afterthought and I don't really remember them. We did not get drinks, just a lot of water, but all that and an app of Clams Casino (which was below average I must say) totaled just over $60 including tax. That is insane. I even waited to write this review for 2 days to ensure there was no gastro-intestinal issues and I'm happy to report that there were none!! I definitely recommend this place. We'll go back again. The food was really pretty good and the staff and prices make it worth the 5-star ranking.

Barcello's has a warm atmosphere and good food, but their prices are a bit high and most of food on the menu you can find other area restaurants making just a bit better than this place does. That being said, they do make a pretty good Portuguese steak and their Kale Soup is excellent. The restaurant has two sections - dining/banquet room and bar/pub. The two are separated completely and have two doors by which to go from one side to the other. The staff is friendly and the host always makes sure that you're satisfied with your meal. You'll find a lot of standard home style and Portuguese options from Mozambique to Pork Caciola and stuffed chicken breasts. I usually like to mention in my reviews a few items for appetizers, entrees, and desserts but since I've only been here three times and gotten the Portuguese steak twice, I don't have many top picks aside from what I've already mentioned. The bar serves reasonably priced drinks and a lot of the local older men like to gather here for drinks on the weekend nights. The portions are good and you get a huge basket of free bread along with a soup or salad with each meal. If you're craving Portuguese and not interested in navigating through Fall River, then this is a decent option. I'll probably be back but there are many great restaurants around that are better than Barcello's overall offerings.

I've been to Barcellos quite a few times... sucker for punishment I guess. I remember the old days when the food was REAL GOOD. This review is based on the last two visits. The first visit the wife and I were seated in the dining room side, then we watched as other people came in, were served drinks and food orders were taken, and there we sat... not even a drink, after 20 minutes we walked out. After this we were determined to never return. I had a change of heart one night and decided the bar side has to be better, the bartender can't go very far. I can say this time the service was great... hence the 2 stars, strictly for the service and cold beer. Other than that, it's not worth the trip. I ordered a Portuguese steak plate, it comes out... steak and fries. That's it no rice, no garlic, no peppers and no egg. Are you kidding me Barcellos' ? You've gotten me for the last time... There's plenty of places that make excellent Portuguese food, no need to take the risk here. If you want to get drunk at the bar with the locals this is the place for you, if you want good food... eat somewhere else first.

This is a family style restaurant with a separate lounge. My parents are very loyal to this place and love the crowd. It's a place for townies to hang out and relax. They serve a wide variety of food from traditional Portuguese dishes to seafood classics. The prices are quite reasonable and almost everything I have tried here has impressed me. I would reccomend this if you want to eat somewhere very casual and low key.
