Great pizza and breads. I'll stop back for calzone and pastries next week. Drove by here several times and decided to stop in, glad I did. Quick friendly service and they had a small but good selection of pastries

I think what people need to understand about this place is. its not fancy, selection is poor, service unfriendly, but they do a few things very good. they have some of the best Italian bread in Rhode island. the only other breads that come close would be Buono's Italian Bakery,D. Palmieri's Bakery.and the pizza strips although not a home run are good and can be a fast bite or fast cheap lunch.

An extra star has been added for the amazing pizza strips I just got! Crugnale's I love you. Your pizza strips are to die for , with their perfect tangy sauce and their fluffy dough!

Crugnales has been a favorite for years. Being close by, anytime I had a party I would grab their pizza strips. The box was always gone a few hours later. Calzones are pretty good as are their desserts. Chocolate and peanut butter muffin? Yum! The best part is the staff- very no nonsense RI Italians!

Fresh baked breads, giant and delicous cupcakes, and a whole host of other sweet treats make this place fantastic! Their Pizza Strips rival all other RI institutions, and their calzones are outstanding. (Spinach Deluxe with Black Olives and Pepperoni is my fave!) Crugnale has been my go-to Pizza Strip joint for 20 years (get it...Pizza 'Strip Joint'..HAHA...I crack myself up!). My visits back to RI are few and far between, but ALWAYS include a stop at Crugnale!

DELICIOUS PIZZA!!! I basically lived here last summer during "mom's walk, stroller days", we walked past here everyday and got us each a nice treat!

Bare white storefront, cranky old ladies behind the counter, long lines on Saturday mornings...and the best cheese-less, saucy, greasy pizza strips and Italian bread in all of Rhode Island. The proper method to get a box of pizza strips at Crugnale is somewhat ala "Seinfeld" Soup Nazi methodology: 1. Wait patiently in line; do not speak. 2. When it's your turn, stare the angry old woman in the eye and say clearly "Box of Red, please." 3. You'll be stared at for 30 seconds, then she will sigh and point offhandedly at the stack of boxes at the end of the counter. 4. Thrust your 8 dollars at her. 5. Grab your box and run like hell. 6. Eat 4 pizza strips in the car before you leave the lot. Moan in ecstasy. 7. Repeat on a weekly basis or as needed. The pizza strips are great frozen, then popped into your lunch bag for a treat! Mange! Cash only...if you bring check or credit, the old ladies will peck your eyes out with their beaks.

After reading all of the reviews I was looking forward to dealing with the grumpy old ladies. Unfortunately or fortunately the day I visited it was just a middle-aged man behind the counter and he was friendly and helpful. The pizza slices are very tasty, some of the best I have ever tried. I also sampled a spinach pie, perfectly seasoned and very fresh. The only negative I had is that it's a little run down on the inside. Worth a visit or two.

Well...it seems it's been a while since someone has been to (and reviewed) this bakery...and I suppose I know why now. Definitely has lost it's appeal. Pizza is not anything special...have had much better at other bakeries...Marcucci's in FRM for one! Went on a Tuesday afternoon & the offerings were slim. Would not recommend this place and will not be returning. Will continue the hunt for good bakery pizza & fresh pastries.

Small little bakery. Not a lot of choices. I'm willing to bet some things here are great. I tried some pizza strips, in which the sauce was good, but the bread surprisingly plain/average. Cranky service yes. I have a tough time justifying another visit, but maybe I'll try a pizza one day.

My favorite pizza strips Thick bready crust, heartburn invoking dark red sauce, and a drizzle of olive oil. Locals order by these by the BOX. Nothing like a half pound of dough to tie you over till dinner. TIP: They sell out. Learn the pattern of your local Crugnale. They're a local chain, but each location has it's own identity and RULES. Also good- Spinach pies- cheese, olive pepperoni, mushroom Fried dough things. I forget their name. RULES Always be nice to the old ladies that work there. Being crabby is a one-way street. The old biddies can crab at you but you can't crab at them. Accept that and you will save yourself aggravation.

My family has been going to Crugnale's for years. We love their plain pizza strips (no cheese), although they do have pizza with cheese for newbies to bakery pizza. They also have "white pizza" (no sauce). Everything there is good except for maybe the cookie trays which are expensive and not as fresh as the price might indicate. Another prerequisite for getting service from the lovely ladies at the counter: exact change. Hand them a $20.00 bill and they'll stare you right out the door.
