The chef Adam is very accommodating and friendly. I would recommend this deli to anyone looking for a fun and pleasant lunch experience. Old gangster movies are playing on the television as they prepare your sandwich that is guaranteed to be huge and delicious no matter what menu item you choose. There is ample seating in a clean environment. There is also parking offered behind the building which is great for Federal Hill! Cheers.

My fiance and I ate lunch here about a month ago, and we brought our friends here the other day for lunch. The selection is great. Lots of different sandwiches (they also have vegetarian options) and either hard or soft bread. I've had the Buffalo chicken salad and the Sicilian tuna, and liked them both. My fiance had pastrami one time and the .38 Special, and loved the latter. The sandwiches are HUGE, and definately 2 meal's worth. The prices are ok (around $8-9). The wait time for the sandwiches is not bad, usually only 3-8 minutes. The employee working behind the counter/register needs a serious attitude adjustment. He was snippy and seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else other than work. Both times we came here, he took our orders. The other day, we told him that our sandwiches were together, and our friends' were separate. He said "So you're seperate", and we told him just our friends. He replied "That's what I said!", and then went on to slam my credit card and receipts on the counter like a child. Buddy, a lot of people don't like their jobs. Man up and be nice to your customers. Or, *gasp* find another job. That's why I gave Wise Guys only 3 stars, and I *Never* leave a tip for this jerk.

Awesome place! They even deliver!! I had the stuffie last night. Every bite was awesome. Never tasted a stuffie like that as well as SO much in one shell. Only downfall is my boyfriend got the steak n cheese and he never complains about anything. He bit into a fatty bite the size of a quarter and he was done. So I got the other half for the next days lunch and for me it was gooood lol. A LITTLE pricey but quality is deff there so it's worth it :) enjoy!!!

The food here is excellent. Came after a long day at work when I just wanted a great take out sandwich. After ordering (including a much needed beer), I sat and waited happily. The lovely employees offered me a piece of complimentary pizza which was bomb. They also happily told me they would deliver to the east side- awesome! We all know how Rhode Islanders can be! 5 stars for sure.

You'd be wise to avoid Wise Guys Deli. I ordered The Accountant, their version of a pastrami on rye, except, as another reviewer mentioned, it was served on a gigantic sub. It was so bad I ended up throwing half away. I've learned my lesson: I will never buy a Groupon for an unknown restaurant again.

Decent sandwiches, Nothing I would jump up and down about. Living in the neighborhood I've had the opportunity to visit on several occasions and I can say that I have never been unsatisfied or satisfied. Good for a quick lunch or a weeknight dinner. If your up for a drive to the other side of town, Anthonys Deli in the north end across from Lasalle Bakery is by far the best in town.

If you are going to order food from here, plan on throwing it into the garbage. I ordered The Grandmother. It was supposed to be a NY style thin pizza with mozzeralla cheese and sliced tomatoes. It was nothing less than awful. It had cheddar cheese and tasted like a reject from Pizza Hut. The buffalo chicken tenders were dry and less than flavorful. This place should be ashamed of themselves for taking people's money.

Living in the neighborhood, I've had Wise Guys many times. When they're good there isn't an issue but they are frequently hit or miss with customer service and the food isn't consistent. Last night I put in an order for take out online after a bad night at work. I arrived 15 minutes earlier than the website estimated my food to be ready. When I walked in with company I had to wait several minutes for the young woman at the register to finish a phone call that included the statement "al Qaeda" being called out across the restaurant to an older man sitting with his wife. When she finally put the phone down to help me, my order had been long finished and sitting in a bag on a shelf. I checked my order before leaving. Garlic knots were cold and hard, chicken Parmesan sandwich was overly sauced and served on greasy bread, and, the worst part. The large order of chicken wings was prepared wrong, without sauce, when I pointed this out to the woman at the register she told me that I has ordered that way. Then I pointed out the feathers that were still on the wings. At this point I was livid and the woman at the table stood up to deal with me. Instead of being helpful and offering to call to have the chicken taken off my order I was given a scrap of paper with a number while the old man made comments about not growing the chicken. Quality control doesn't end when that box of wings comes through the back door. I admit I lost my temper when I left but, after quite a few bad experiences at Wise Guys with argumentative staff I can't say I can give them another chance.

Amazing!!! Decided to stop in and try it the other day and went back every day that week!! Sandwiches are delicious, creative, and well executed. Atmosphere is really cool and the background Sinatra is awesome. You guys rock !!!

The sandwiches aren't spectacular but they are enormous and pretty cheap. Definitely worth a try if you are really really hungry.

Obviously they are trying to build a reputation on location and not good food! We were definitely let down with the whole experience. My suggestion would be to concentrate on the food and not the idea. Awful!!

Given the history of Federal Hill and the proud italians that once called it home, is it really a good idea to glorify the mafia? Hell yeah. Because these sandwiches are like a deal you can't refuse, like a favor on the Don's daughter's wedding day and hit you as hard as a back alley drive by. The jewel in the Don's ring are the sandwiches. Named after famous gangsters, each is either a deli classic or something new. Everything from roast beef to parms and the like is here. My personal favorite is the Charlie Luciano, turkey, swiss, bacon, lettuce, tomato, garlic and chive aioli. It also gave me a history lesson as I had never heard of this character before. Check out the menu and choose what you want. Go for the wrap as it's much easier to eat than the huge pieces of bread these things come on. Enjoy loops of mob movies while you wait. What are you waiting for? Want someone to put a gun to your head?

I have read a few reviews saying that this place has pretty good food. However, being a proud Italian, I found their commercials mildly offensive. I understand that it is referred to as a "parody," but a commercial with a man posing as The Godfather (which I could barely understand a thing the man was saying), and another one with an extremely obnoxious voice describing their specials. So, I very nicely messaged the restaurant's Facebook with this concern, and the response from the owner, or whoever controls the Facebook, was telling me to "Go f**k myself." They also proceeded to give me their cell phone number and address telling them to have my family stop by whenever they would like to teach them manners, but they should start with me first. I have all of this saved on my Facebook page. Good food or not, I would never want to provide business to a company that treats their potential customers, or someone who simply expresses an opinion, that way.

I came from NYC to visit my son and he told me that this is the best deli he had ever eaten at. Boy was he right! I'm very picky when it comes to a meatball hero, but when I tried the Prime Minister with garlic bread, it was the best meatball hero I had in a long, long time. I think the price matched the sandwiches because it's hard to eat the whole thing. Loved it and will definitely be back for more.

This is the best pizza around... my husband and I drive 30 miles, fight traffic, struggle for parking, etc. just to get this. It is amazing!!! And the service is terrific too. Every time we've been there the people behind the counter are so nice. Love Love LOVE this place!!!

Impressed! Had a craving for eggplant parm and this place being new and close by, I gave it a shot. Ordered the eggplant parm, all the wraps have gangster names but I don't remember what the eggplant parm was called. Ordered it in a wrap, not typical I know - but I love eggplant and if there is too much bread, you barely taste it. Not much of a French fries kinda person but was in the mood. Swiftly made meal and it was great! Fries were piping hot, pretty crispy, and had a great batter, sea salt goodness. I was impressed as fries anywhere are usually such a let down. Eggplant wrap was huge!!! Tons of seemingly fresh, perfectly breaded eggplant! Loved the wrap, melted cheese, good gravy (sauce) and a lot of it. Service was pleasant, fast, and on point. Almost considering getting another for dinner! Damn good!

The sandwiches are huge and they are delicious. The onion rings need some work, your better off getting the fries. I've had the steak and cheese, eggplant parm, chicken parm, some chicken sandwich with lemon sauce and roasted reds and this special sandwich i created called the "paesano" - its breaded chicken with the stuffed roasted red pepper that they have in the prepared section spread out over the chicken with fresh melted mozzarella on top. madonami!

Portions may be generous...but the sandwiches & sides are tired & far from fresh. Must say the counter help could use a lesson in customer service! Enough said about this place...other than try somewhere else on the Hill.

Was heading to Geoff's today but read about this place and figured I would give it a shot.. The #13 (Turkey) was alright.. I wouldn't say it was great by any means, but I wouldn't say it was at all bad either.. it was just, "ok". The portions appear gargantuan but in reality, most of it is bread.. Counter service was good.. atmosphere unremarkable.. Tables were dirty and required a wipe down before sitting down which was likely due to the place only being staffed by the sandwich maker and the order taker.. seemed they could have used a 3rd person helping out with phone orders and clean up.. One thing caught my eye was the amount of dirt on the tile floor by the utility sink, just behind where the order taker stands.. found it odd that they would allow such a conspicuous area to be dirty.. kind of a turn off. Oddly, the bathroom floor was cleaner. As the name implies, they are playing on Federal Hill's notorious reputation of days gone by.. where eating across the street at The Old Canteen might include a few rounds of lead with that Alfredo... not here, just a few posters and a ill fated attempt to make it look mob like.. For the $9 bucks I spent on each sandwich, I think I will stick with the deli at Venda or take the drive over to the east side and go with Geoff's..

Would not go back. Despite being empty food took forever go get and the service makes it worse as they don't care. They make minimum wage and they give the service that comes(or lack of) with it. They did not even get my order correct. Chicken parm was good but $8 for what amounted to 1/2 a sub.

Sandwhiches and soups have been really good every time I've tried. I'm a big eater and these can be difficult to finish at times (says the guy who thinks nothing of eating two subway foot longs in a sitting). Staff has always been friendly. Free delivery is nice as well. Always have felt like an appreciated customer who is really nice.

We were on the wrong side of the star ratings for tonight - they aren't really set up to be an eat in place - unless you want to eat out of the pizza box or from a to go salad container. Watching customers levels of frustration with each order both pick up and eating in was one tragedy after another. Cold pizzas and wrong sandwiches given out to the right customers. Customers that got there long before we did were being served which isn't really true becuase you pick up you food at the counter way after we finished our food. No paper plates and flimsy plastic forks and knives. Mine broke of trying to pick up a tomato. Ya that kind of flimsy. There was a couple though that were picking up their food and raved about the pizza back to the staff so who knows. For us not so good tonight and the place could use a very deep clean. If this was NY it would rate a B health rating and no B isn't good. Wise guys need to wise up.

I only tried 2 items on their menu, but I must say that what I had wasn't over the top. One, comprehension issues, 1/2# of squid salad means HALF A POUND. The squid itself was bland, the other ingredients far out-tasted the squid and not stirring it before putting it in a container is another peeve I have. It was one of the many prepared items that looked the least dried over and left to be roadkill. I also had a part of the, spicy shrimp po' boy, which was not so special. I stopped getting those at another establishment because the shrimp was breaded, so again, won't be getting that. Their version of a shrimp po' boy, at $8.50 or more isn't a po' boy because the meaning is that it is supposed to be a lower price than the rest of the menu. The spicy sauce along with the breading over-powered any taste of shrimp. I agree the portions are generous but that also doesn't make up for the prices. Its in a prime location where any tourist will venture, but I wouldn't be too certain if they have children in tow, since they play every mob flick ever produced on all of the three screens. The atmosphere is clean, a bit too on the white tile scene and great mobster portraits on every wall. I like the mobster angle, but it also seems a bit ova kill

Glad I ate here before reading previous reviews. I might have missed out on one of the better meatball sandwiches I've had. Almost too much to finish, but the homemade taste of the meatballs and sauce (not chain store bland) made it a pleasure. Plan to try something else next time. Think I have found my 'go to' sandwich stop.

Reviews are mixed. I ordered 3 sandwiches today and they were all good. Once you get past the gimmicky names, nothing's new under the sun. Eggplant parm grinder. Corned beef and pastrami grinder. Cuban sandwich. All good, full, and $8 or $9. I'd never get a sub at De'Angelo's again if they were closer. Their sandwiches get smaller and emptier while their prices go up.

More like Stupid Guys and Stupid girl on phone. Ordered 2 hamburgers one with melted cheese-came cold. Other burger with a whisper of relish-chincy. Also cold. WE ordered an M & M cookie in which order I requested twice that they do not forget the cookie. They forgot the cookie. Big discussion 3-way with dumb girl who acknowledged they screwed up yet would not give me a freebie on the missing dessert. Kept saying "Well you didn't pay for it/" BUT I WANTED IT lethargic order taker. I wanted it. Never again. Used in the past and they always somehow screw it up. Despite reminders, prodding etc...they have not once got an order correct. BTW=the burger rolls were stale.

If I was giving this review completely on the french fries this would be a five star review. Huge quantity of thick, well cooked, and well seasoned fries, The rest I was not really impressed by. The burger had an odd flavor. It was also served on odd bread. At first I thought it was novel. Then I found it a pain as it pulled apart in sections. Then the drink. It comes from a soda fountain and you get a very nice plastic disposable cup. And they have lids. But the lids don't fit the cups. Why are the lids out there? Staff was very friendly and I will probably try it again if I am in the area.

I found out this place was under new ownership and some of the employees had changed so I decided to give it another try. This experience was the polar opposite of the first. The girl at the counter couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. This time I tried s sandwich and it was pretty good. I would recommend that anyone who had a bad experience in the past give it another shot.

The quality of the food was OK. When you go to Federal Hill and buy an Italian sandwich from an Italian-themed shop, you have elevated expectations. I'd keep the name and work on reengineering some of the food in case De Niro and Scorsese walk in one of these days looking to relive the glory days...

I've drove by wise guys many times and have been tempted to try it out. - cool business name for a place on The Hill. I ordered the #1, which is basically an Italian grinder. It was around 8 dollars, so I was a little disappointed when it came out and I saw the size of it. The bread was mediocre and the oil and vinegar tasted more like store bought Italian dressing. Service was nothing special but nothing to complain about either. I noticed a sign that says they deliver until 4 am which is a plus for the night owls! I'm not sure that this would be a place I'd go out of my way for except for the late night aspect.

Where do I start? I would give this place negative stars if I could. Ordered delivery from here a few months ago. No weather issues this night, and not a busy night for delivery on a random Sunday night. Ordered a pizza and an appetizer. After an hour I called the store to see where my order was. They informed me it was out for delivery and would be there soon. After two hours I called back. They informed me it was very close. After another half hour I called and got the same response. At this point I wanted to cancel my order and get a refund on my credit card. I asked for a manager and the woman said there was not one on site. She informed me I had to call back the next day and talk to some other woman. I was shocked they still didn't deliver me the food that supposedly close to my apartment for free so the delivery driver could at least get a tip and to keep me happy. I called the manager the next day. No apology and no free coupons for me to come back and at least give this place a try. DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM HERE. I'm surprised this company is still in business with the customer service they have, or should I say lack there of. It's unfortunate, but stick with Dominos or Pizza Pier for quick cheap pizza delivery in Providence.

I wasn't really impressed with Wise Guy's at all. I was hoping for a Ricotti's like experience as we are on the Hill after all, and instead I got a pretty grimey overpriced meatball sub.... that is after I went home with the WRONG sub to begin with. When I called, the girl taking orders was just RUDE and giving me attitude. Props to the owner though, who was kind and took over to fix it, but a refund would have been nice. I'll stick to Ricotti's and Subway, thanks.

BF was in the mood for a burger, and we were both in the mood for not leaving the house, so after finding Wise Guys on Eat24, we decided to give them a shot. BF got his burger with some onion rings; I got the fish and chips with a caprese salad. Pretty much everything was completely soggy--except the tomatoes in my salad, which were hard and flavorless. I get that the food was packed and delivered, and I expected it to be somewhat soggy, but my fish and chips was just a box of mush. The coleslaw had no crispness at all, and no flavor; the fish was clear and had no integrity to it at all. I don't even know *how* you can overcook fried fish, but it was disgusting. I didn't have high hopes for a mafia themed restaurant, but I honestly have never had a plate of food that bland and mushy. We will not be trying this again.

Wise guys have new ownership and recipes! It is sooo good! We ordered delivery online and jokingly left a comment saying to draw a dinosaur inside the box. Look what we got !

The chicken salad was the best thing on the menu and they got rid of it! Otherwise, service is fairly slow for a fast food place. i would call in advance and pick up if you're short on time. Chicken fingers are especially long. Sandwiches are usually faster. Now that there's no chicken salad, it's really just another fast food sandwich place that's pricier than Subway.

The sandwiches are pretty good but the "authentic Cesar salad" was a box of lettuce with a packet of kens Cesar dressing ........sooo........

I stopped in this weekend because I had a Living Social gift certificate. The staff was very helpful & friendly. It was around 10PM and we were the only ones in the restaurant on a Saturday night. We looked for a seat to sit at but ALL were dirty. I went to the counter to as one of the several employees standing around if a table could be washed. He came out and washed ONE table, left the others dirty. We ordered steak & cheese w/works, meatball & cheese toasted, traditional Italian. The Italian was good, The quality of the steak was good but tasted bland, and the bread for the meatball was charcoal burnt. Oh and I don't know if it matters but one of the 2 cooks behind the grill (the tall one) took off his baseball cap and aggressively scratched his head with both hands and continued to cook. GREAT !! Won't be back ......

Great concept with AMAZING sandwiches, perfect after a night of drinking. The bacon and cheese fries were insanely good. Fries are fried perfectly...so crispy and well seasoned, that it didn't even need the cheese and bacon...but you know it did! The .38 Special Burger came topped with pastrami, caramelized onions and cheddar cheese, and a chipotle pepper-roasted garlic aioli....Hit. The. Spot!

  • Keri G.

The fries! You have to have their fries!! They are by far--THE BEST--french fries I have EVER had in my entire life! They are slightly chunky, coated with heaven, and seasoned to perfection. Seriously. Go get some fries from them RIGHT NOW. I also had the Don *insert mobster name here* sandwich (aka an Eggplant Parm) which was alright- just your typical Eggplant parm sandwich. I had it delivered, and was so busy enjoying each savory french fry that I left it too long and it was a little soggy, but that's my fault. I'll try a different one next time. My whole office wants to get them for lunch next time because of the fries. Have I mentioned how delicious they are?

I had bought a Groupon for this place and decided to give it a try. Looked at the menu and said to myself....great....many choices: Salads, wraps, sandwiches, pizza, fish and chips, calamari, pasta...etc.. We ordered a Chef's salad with Italian dressing on the side (which comes with Garlic rolls) and a NY Style Pizza (the Moe Green Pizza - Basil pesto, sliced fresh tomatoes, marinated chicken breast and mozzarella cheese topped with fresh garlic, olive oil and Romano cheese). We waited a long time for the meal to be ready.... I noticed that the salads were shown in a case in clear boxes, and sure enough, my salads was not freshly tossed, but boxed. The salad dressing came in a pouch and when they gave me my salad, they never gave me my garlic rolls (which I was not going to eat any way, but ...never offered to me...). When the pizza was ready, my BF took a bite and noticed that the dough was not cooked in the center.....he took it back and they "re-cooked the pizza". It was a thick NY style pizza, which the times I have been in NYC, had been offered to me, in a thinner version than this one at WGD. After several long minutes...the pizza was ready again. We both took a bite and we agreed it was one of the worst pizzas we had ever tasted in our lives...and my BF is a huge pizza fan....he eats all kinds, all over the city, all over the country...He did not like it either. The toppings were bland, runny and all wet.... C'mmon...I have eaten vegetarian pizza with tomato slices on top before...at many other pizza joints.... and they do a better job.. Not going back.... Ever....

Haven't been to wise guys in forever. And definitely not since I've been GF, DF and EF. But tonight after a long day and Fed Hill being off limits for my well being past a certain hour, I decided to go with a very basic salad from WG's. The girl on the other line was sweet and asked me and informed me of what I could have as options with my salad. Just a bed of lettuce, extra extra cukes, bacon and chicken. Balsamic on the side baby! I did mention I was dairy free and gluten free since I didn't think egg would be an issue, which it wasn't in this case. Just make sure it's gluten free and no cheese, guys. The delivery was speeding. The girl who made the delivery was wearing loud heels though and walked up the porch at 1:30am while my roommate was sleeping which wasn't the best idea but couldn't do anything about that in the moment. Now to the salad. It looked great. Except the whole thing was covered in croutons! And definitely not enough chicken for a $12 salad. Not pleased. The one star goes towards the girl on the other line that I hope did indeed make note like she said the salad being gluten free and dairy free. Who knows. Only a wise guy would.

I ordered the 38 Special sandwich for delivery. The delivery time was fast and the driver was polite. The dynamite relish was actually spicy, just as it says in the menu (maybe a bit too vinegary...but it's relish, so I'm not going to let that hurt the score). I would definitely eat their food again.

I was anxious to try this spot. I was disappointed, possibly due to my dinner choice. Attending Bruins opening night, I took my son and his girlfriend here for eats prior. We saw the sign for fish & chips and decided we were in. I had a bowl of white chowder as well. Tasty, flaky fish. Overly seasoned fries. And the food got its revenge on us very, very quickly after finishing. And by that, I mean we were in the bathroom evacuating our innards...easily. Essentially, if you want and/or need to get cleaned out...this is the place to go. Otherwise, I may try it once more to see if the deli sandwiches are good. But I'll go in with trepidation. I'll reserve total judgement until I make that decision...

This place is a total rip off of the gangster culture, if any self respecting mobster were to try these sloppy, low end sandwiches they would probably shoot the owner from over the counter right there on the spot. This place was so dirty that after ordering I went to find a table to eat at and immediately decided to get my sandwich to go after seeing how filthy the tables were, not a single clean table to eat at in the whole place. There was also food and garbage on the floor behind the counter. I ordered a steak sandwich. It was so greasy and slimy that I only got through 2 bites before tossing this sandwich out on the on ramp to 95 south. Don't waste your time at this pit.

    (1)
  • Amanda D.

Do not waste your time. Walked by this place today and saw a huge sign that they deliver till 4am. I placed an order at grubhub at 3:25am. Grubhub gave a confirmation and said the order would be here by 4:30. At 5am I called the deli and was told they are closed, the guy on the phone said they closed a little before 3:30. FALSE advertising!!! Closed early and pissed me off. Stay away from anywhere that cannot keep their own hours. VERY PISSED!!!

I haven't been to Wise guy's Deli in a while after my last experience, but I thought I'd give then another chance......But it looks like nothing's changed.....sandwiches are still weak, very little meat, nothing compared to when they first opened....definitely not worth $10.00 for a sandwich that is mostly bread and will still leave you hungry.....this will be my last time coming here Do yourself a favor next time you want a good sub, don't go here, no true wise guy would eat at this deli.....lol

Stopped by today after a recommendation. The place is small and messy. I ordered a burger with cheddar, american, lettuce, tomato and mayo on the side. Medium. Big burger and bun with absolutely no flavor and WELL done! Mayo in a package. Yuck. Never going again. Tomato slice was the best thing , big and juicy! Plus this burger was $9......what?

  • Ronald F.

Ordered from here a couple of times. Not bad but not great. Nothing on the menu, that I have had, stands out exceptionally. There version of the italian is just ok. The meat is sliced too thick for my preference and pretty much comes with the standard meats that every wannabe Italian spot places on the bread. They do nothing that stands out, in my opinion. Even the "gangster" names reek of wannabeism. Not a huge fan. Sorry to be so harsh but I am sick of this genre sandwich shop. Nothing special and nothing is made from scratch. I prefer and respect places that make there own dough, make there own bread and sauces. This place just wants to churn people in and out for a quick buck. All set with that crap.

I've waited for my sandwich for 2 hours and they told me they didnt get my order! The first hour i called the restaurant and told them i ordered online and the girl said the delivery guy is on his way, so i keep on waiting, but until the second hour, i called again and they hang up my call after picking up, so i called for 3 times until they pick up the f*cking phone! So this time a man answered and said he didnt know anything and pass the phone to the girl, i told her i called an hour ago and she told me my order is coming but she deny she talked to me at first, seriously? Its like 2:30am u talked to me and at 3:30am someone just take over ur shift u mean? Ur restaurant closed at 4am, do you think i believe thats not u who talked to me at the first place? She said she didn't get any order from beyondmenu.com , and she said i could place a new order online again wtf, so u want me to wait another 2 hours? Aren't u suppose to place my order thru the phone right away? Btw I did not place a new order, Im super angry and going to contact beyondmenu about this case!

1 star for the woman working at the counter. 1 star for effort. You can tell whoever is running this place doesn't care about quality. The "fresh" mozz was indeed not fresh. I got about 1 basil leaf on the whole sub. The garlic knots were burnt. The stuffy must have been sitting out for days. Clearly I will not be back! A disappointment to the hill for sure.

Ok. What the hell. "Wise Guys"... w the whole mafia theme...screams Italian right? Ok well when you order a meatball sub and the "sauce" has zero salt, or oregano, or basil...or anything that adds flavor.....and when the meatballs taste like ground meat that you can get from PriceRite with not ONE thing in them to add any flavor at all....just pure sucky meat rolled into balls and put in some sub standard "gravy".....sorry...but no...just a joke...no Italian cooking here. I'm Irish and I cook Italian way better than these idiots. Also got their "Italian" sub. The contents of it weren't horrible... however the bread tasted like it had been sitting outside of whatever bag they got it in for hours and hours because it was stale as hell. Would've been better with a oil, salt, vinegar mixture to dress it...but they use Italian dressing...and not much of it...and not high quality either. Bottom line is if you're gonna try to pull off some mafia themed restaurant in Federal Hill...on Atwells Ave....then you should probably at the least know how to make a freakin' meatball...or gravy...or not serve stale bread. Give me a break.

I'm going to be a tough critic here because I ordered a cheese steak here after just moving into the area from Philly. Overall, it wasn't bad. I doubt it would ever make best of Philly but it was edible and reasonable. I have a feeling that I will be back because it a convenient spot. It won't be a hardship.

They had a good deal on yelp, 2 large cheese pizzas and a 2liter soda for $19.99 I thought why not. The cheese was delicious, and that's literally all I liked about the pizza. The dough was soggy and the sugary style, the sauce tasted like sour tomatoes, and it arrived cold. I shouldn't have to microwave a pizza that JUST got delivered to me. It was edible I guess, but even if they had a BETTER deal, there are better tasting places near me to choose from.

Ordered a steak bomb only to get home and find the most disgusting looking sandwich. For $13.00 you would think they could at least get your order right.

The wisest thing I can tell you guys is don't eat here. I have been here twice and both times were bad. The first time I was here I got there signature Italian grinder and they burnt the roll making it extra soft...and the lettuce the put on it was cheap and still frozen. The second time I came here I got the cheese steak which was equally as bad. The steak was chopped up into very small almost bit size peices. And the cheese was some cheap canned cheese. To top it all off this place is a rip off at 13 dollars for a sandwich and a drink?

I was extremely disappointed with the service provided to me by Wise Guys. I originally made a foodler order but called to ask for pickup bc the delivery time was two hours out. We went to pick up our food and got home only to find out one order was made wrong and I was charged 3 dollars more than my original foodler order. I called and the girl Kim, told me that they probably made the mistake on the order but all she can do is CHARGE ME AGAIN for a new order. I thought that was crazy and she said I would have to call tomorrow to talk to her boss. I then called back to inquire about the extra charges. Foodler has my sub for 8.50 and I was charged 11.50 from them. She stated bc I added stuff to my sub it was extra... I added lettuce tomato onion pickle and mayo. I have NEVER been charged for items like this ever!! Again, she said to call in the morning. Either way, wouldn't they have called me when they realized my order on foodler was less than their charge to make sure I still wanted it? And this was for the sub that was made wrong to begin with. I will be calling to speak with someone tomorrow and so disappointed in the service that was given. They need better customer service and read their orders better.

My girlfriend ordered simple onion rings and they were delivered to her house. She opened them and they were completely over cooked. I'm a chef myself, how the fuck do you over cook onion rings. It's not that damn difficult. Clearly shows laziness and poor quality control.

So, where should I start this review. How about with the specialty slice of Valentine's Day Massacre pizza? Oh, wait... scratch that... they forgot to deliver it. OK, I'll start with the specialty slice La Madrina pizza. Shoot... can't start there either, they forgot that too. OK. I'll start with the 2-Liter bottle of Diet Pepsi. There's no way to screw that up, right? I mean, it's bottled after-all. Damn, they forgot that too. Oh! I can start with the Don Carlo eggplant parm sandwich. I LOVE eggplant parm sandwiches, so delicious. Except not from here. The bread to content ration is overbearing. You mostly taste the bread when you bite into it. And, it's dry. I'll admit, I do like things overly sauced, but with the amount of sauce they put on the entire sandwich, I couldn't properly sauce 4 pieces of penne pasta to my liking. The icing on the cake was the charred edges of the sandwich that tasted like charcoal. I don't know what kind of oven they use, but they might want to look into that. Next up, the Penne with Pink Vodka sauce. It was pretty decent. The sauce was alright, the penne were not mushy. I opted to add meatball(s) to the pasta. Now, I might be dumb, but when i see meatballs spelled with an s, that infers that there will be more than one meatball. But, alas, I was wrong. There was one normal sized meatball added to the dish. It wasn't whole though, it was cut into several pieces. Either to trick me into not knowing there was only one meatball, or to help me eat it because I can't cut it up myself. I also ordered a Stuffie (on the menu as stuffies, plural - but you only get one) which was cold, and very bland. It came with three packets of hot sauce. I don't ever use hot sauce, but I used it today to add flavor to the otherwise flavorless stuffie. The worst part of this experience was the delivery of the food. Why? Because I ordered at 9:18pm - the order arrived at nearly 11pm. Say what? Yes. No exaggeration. So I waited pretty close to two hours for HALF my order of food, while the other half arrived cold and otherwise blah. If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. But I can't, so I didn't. But I want to!

I've found this place very hit or miss. They can be great or they can be very mediocre. I'm writing this as a delivery customer. The pizza is pretty good. I like the Valentine Massacre pizza. #8 The Bull - Sammy Gravano Sandwich on the other hand was horrible. I can't believe I paid $8.50 for unseasoned beef in an over sized hotdog bun. Completely flavorless, very little in the way of filling. Not worth the money at all. My big concern is the delivery time. It's all over the place. I've gotten pizza delivered in 30 minutes, piping hot so it burns my mouth. I've also had it take over an hour and 20 minutes to be delivered, ice cold. I also got a nice view of the delivery drivers underwear as his pants sunk to his knees as he leaned over the back seat picking up my order. Sorry, I don't want to see the person who is delivering my foods underwear. Plus he seemed to be playing driver to his friend in the passenger seat who was sitting there texting on the phone. If you can get Wise Guys on a good night they can be great, but it's a roll of the dice.

I got a #1, called "The Boss" today. What a disappointment. It's just a basic Italian sub sandwich. There was little meat on it and a whole lot of old lettuce. When I called them to tell them about it,the woman said it just seemed less because of the new, bigger sized bread and that there was absolutely nothing she could do about it. I told her I usually get good subs there with a lot of meat but this time all I received was a few very thin slices of meat. "Oh well" is the response I got. I work for a very large company who always orders lunch out. I will not be ordering again and left my"Sandwich" out for all to see. Oh well.....

I was going to give this joint a lack luster rating, since the burger I had was not cooked to temp (got well done instead of med rare) and the bread was stale. However, upon a second trip, the stuffie was delicious and the pizza was pretty darn tasty, so they've redeemed themselves in my eyes. Plus, they deliver until an ungodly hour, so that gains super kudos from me!

So, I was looking for a easy cheap dinner on the hill, and we decided to try here, selection looked great, and I decided to try one of my faves, Fish and Chips. This was probably one of the worst meals i've had in awhile. the fish was soggy, flavorless and rubbery, and the fries were just decent, but not the usual steak fries, thick cut that accompany fish, no bay seasoning. I couldn't even eat more than 2 bites. The only reason this place gets a 2 is because my BF had a sandwich that he liked a bit.

I bought a groupon to check out Wise Guys Deli a while back, but never used it because reviews were only average, and trekking to Federal Hill can sometimes be a nightmare. But holy cow. These guys know how to make sandwiches!!! Do not be deceived people. Sure, this deli is no hipster-laden Geoff's. But these subs are serious. They're packed with fresh ingredients. I totally dig the white bread. And they layer on the meet, cheese, and veggies in a very orderly way. I'm pretty big into sandwiches, and I always love a good sub. These guys have got it! They have made a believer out of me--who cares what everyone else says? Even if it is on Federal Hill... I'll be stopping by when I need the sustenance. If only they delivered to the hospitals overnight...

It was just another saturday afternoon at work. We all started looking at each other at around 12 pm. We were all thinking the same thing??? What are we eating today? My buddy says " i feel like wise guys". Then I think " oh man, really??? Every time we order from Wise Guys Deli either someone gets sick, the driver gets lost ( we are about 2 miles away) they forget our drinks, or they forget the ketchup for the fries!!! Has any of this happened to anyone else??? So I agree with my buddy and say sure Wise Guys it is. We place the order at 12:18 pm , I tell the girl I would like a pepsi and extra ketchup for the fries twice! I ask her to repeat the order, then I can hear the attitude. So now I know there is going to be a problem with the order. 1:38 pm we get a call from the driver. " im outside". REALLY. Well we are inside the shop working HELLO???? What does delivery mean? You want me to come outside and get the food??? So i ask the driver "how much" he said $45.13. I give him $60. He replies do you want change? NO i want to give you a $15 tip! Are you serious! I bring the food to the back open up the bag guess what NO PEPSI and NO EXTRA KETCHUP. I turn around look at my buddy and Im like dude I knew this is going to happen. This place sucks!!!! I take a bite out of my steak and cheese and decide to throw the entire thing away. NEVER AGAIN will we be eating at WISE GUYS DELI.

I really liked this place when it first opened. However, the sandwiches have gotten worse and worse. By this I mean they are essentially a roll with a little bit of stuff in them. In the beginning they were full of whatever came in the sandwich but now I feel like I'm eating bread. For $10 a sandwich it is a complete ripoff. Pretty much any other place on the hill will give you a better sandwich.

The one positive thing I will say is that their pizza is really good when they get it right. In fact it's probably the best pizza I've had since I moved here a few months ago (but then again I haven't tried that many new places lately). Twice now I have ordered and it took them well over an hour. Last night I called twice to make sure they didn't forget about me and I made sure to be really nice about it because I knew it wasn't the fault of the girl answering the phone. She was obviously annoyed with me the second time I called (an hour and a half after I ordered) so I just hung up. Rude!! The only reason I ever order from here is if I get the pizza or if it's 3am and nothing else delivers that late. However next time I think I'll just go to 7/11 and get a frozen pizza.... DON'T BOTHER!

Went to Wise Guys last night to use a Groupon. Starters: Groupon deal was a great deal - $12 for $25 worth of food. I always read the fine print so that I know what I am actually buying... was a little discouraged about it excluding the sandwiches since they seem so popular- but hey- it's a groupon! Be happy for the discount. When I bought the Groupon, some time constraints were also listed- after 5pm for dine in only. When I purchased this a few months ago, I had a picture in my head that it had a little more of a "restaurant" since it was valid for dine in. After doing more research before we went last night, I realized it is definitely a deli. We walked in- staff was cool and approachable. We ordered the NY style Valentine's pizza, 16 bone-in wings, and 2 Coors Lights- came to $40 all together before discount. We drank our beers while waiting for the food. We were very happy with the food- the pizza was delicious! Wings weren't my favorite, but I am a buffalo wings fanatic, and I was very satisfied with them. Decor was typical- fine for a deli.. clean with classic mobster themed music playing... not sure if that's the right term (my boyfriend is Italian and that was his suggestion :) Overall, we left with a large pizza box with more than half the delicious pizza and 8 wings to go. When exiting the deli, a few staff members all told us to have a nice night and thanked us for coming. Came home, watched a movie, ate some leftovers, and had a really nice night all together.

So I used to be a fan of Wise Guys... until my husband got food poisoning here. We ordered the cubano sandwich and the meatball sub for delivery on Saturday. The sandwiches tasted okay given that we were starving. However, at 3 am, my husband had revenge of the cubano and was sick the rest of the evening, puking and all. We will never be ordering from Wise Guys again.

Went here with a friend to use a Groupon. We weren't expecting much but were pleasantly surprised. The groupon couldn't be used for sandwiches, so between the two of us we had a Caesar salad, caprese salad, clam chowder, and a calzone. I asked for the calzone to be made like one of their pizzas (a BBQ chicken pizza), and it was phenomenal. It was also roughly the size of a pizza and $5. I really couldn't believe it. Total for all of this food and 2 bottled drinks was $26. Service was decent. Nothing special, but nice enough. Will be going back to try the sandwiches.. if I can keep myself from ordering that calzone again!

Can you say rude! My boyfriend called to place an order asked them one question and they hung up! Were living in some tough times and if your business want to be rude I say go somewhere else! Can't be nice customers better make your food amazing and its not.. Geoffs is better anyways and doks isn't my favorite but i'd go there before I'd go here again.

Wise Guys Deli is a place that I avoided for a long time because of the decor, and I regret having done so because of the delicious food. When I first told my father, who grew up in Pawtucket, that I was going to live in Providence near Federal Hill, his advice to me was "If you're on Atwells and you meet a well-dressed old Italian gentleman to whom everyone defers... be polite." With that advice in mind, I studiously avoided the "haw haw, gangsters and bullet holes" building with its "haw haw, our sandwiches are named after murderers" shtick. Then, one day, my boss came back to the office with a meatball sandwich that he proclaimed to be glorious. I swallowed my trepidation and headed in to check it out. The inside of the deli is shiny and clean and bright, ready to receive the masses. There's a cooler for bottled drinks, wine and beer. The counter is polished steel, and you can see into the kitchens. Chilled cases hold homemade salads, pasta bowls, stuffies, and all manner of specialties that might not even be on the printed menus, but you can get it by the pound. It's a deli, and a good one. The only interior nod to the whole gangster thing is the TV screens playing Godfather movies, and the menu printed in Godfather font with Godfather names because Godfather. I got the #1, which is your basic Italian-meats-and-cheeses with peppers and onions and oil/vinegar. I had some onion rings to go with it. I was hooked, and I kept returning. The cheeseburger sandwich is awesome. The grilled chicken is good. The meatballs, the sausage-and-peppers. I loved every one. This is usually the part of any story where things go sour, and the sourness to this tale comes from what I have found to be the usual "settling in" inconsistency that comes with any new-ish restaurant trying to find its voice. When I first went in, the prices were low and the servings were HUGE. Then they raised the prices to match the servings. Then they lowered the servings AND the prices. Then they added pizza. I have not tried the pizza yet, but I'm sure I will. Conclusion: Wise Guys Deli is great, and I hope it will settle in and become even better. I fear that the menu will become unwieldy, and I still pretty much hate the gangster shtick, but for a good deli sandwich at a reasonable price and with crazy-accessible hours, I recommend it. Seriously, though, owners. Leave the gun, take the sandwich. It's right there on your own signage.

In an act nostalgia following the death of the Boston Phoenix, I decided to act on the banner recommendation of its sister publication, the Providence Phoenix, which called this place the best sandwich in town. This place does not have the best sandwich in town. It does not have the best sandwich on the block. The only thing worse than its badly coopted Godfather design was the chicken parm I ordered, which took forever and tasted like dry cardboard slathered in the fresh juices of a old tomato being squeezed over it like a sponge.

Decided to stop by for lunch with four friends. We walked in and were very pleased with the "Gangster" like atmosphere, three TV's and the clean appearance of the deli. However, that's where our approval ended with this place. Every sandwich on their menu was about $9. Not unreasonable for the area, but the subs were very sub-par in comparison to their competition. They were not large or tasty, in fact they were just the opposite. The gentlemen taking our order could care less about what we ordered or the fact that we were giving them our business. As a result, two of orders were incorrect. Their stuffed pepper were hard as a rock, their Italian egg rolls were very chewy and their stuffed shells had pieces of shells in the stuffing. The 4 subs we ordered took nearly 30 minutes for them to make and we never received a thank you for our business. Wise Guys, you're on Federal Hill, there are plenty of options for restaurants. Our experience was enough for us all to say that we will never be returning to this place.

I got the grilled chicken with pesto, it was delicious and extremely large and filling, at a fair price of 9$, my friend got a huge plate of chicken tenders, he enjoyed it. The food was cooked fresh to order and hot. Plenty of free parking in the back. Large menu. Would go again next time I'm in the city.

I got a steak and cheese here last weeek and it was HUMUNGOUS! Im usually hesitant to order steak and cheese subs beacause a lot of places the steak is dry and they're skimpy on cheese. But this one was good and I could only finish 1/4th of it. Obviously I need to go here a few more times before I can offer a solid review. But my first impression is a-okay!

Wise Guys Deli (Formally Riccotti's) is mostly a specialty grinder shop located towards the beginning of Atwells Ave. It's part of The Marrocco Group, which also owns Mediterraneo, Amici Bar & Grille, Cafe Dolce Vita, Hotel Dolce Villa, Skarr Hooka Lounge, and Smoke Lounge. Basically, Moarrocco dominates Federal Hill. The name Wise Guys is obviously an homage to the slang of an Italian gangster. Inside, there are three large flat screen TV's that always seem to be playing a Martin Scorsese film (Closed-captioned). The staff may put a game on the radio or maybe play some standard station music. The ambiance is pretty basic, white and bright with booths to sit in. There are a few bistro tables outside. The sandwich menu is set up by number and name - Names are based on real-life and fictional gangsters. First off, five stars for the #14 The Cubano - Tony Montana. This grinder is worth every penny. It's definitely my staple if I don't know what to get. It's a basic Cuban sandwich with a few perks. Ham, pork, pickles, Swiss cheese...But it's the pork and sauce that make it; The pork is slow-roasted style, like BBQ pulled - And it's delicious! Instead of mustard, WG's uses chipolte and rst. garlic aioli - Very tasty. It's pressed like a traditional Cuban, but instead of Cuban bread, WG's uses a crusty Italian loaf. This sandwich would definitely make my top 10 ever list. So far, so good, right? ..Why only three stars total? Well, the rest of the sandwiches I've had are kind of, meh. The #4 The Teflon Don - John Gotti is basically a Chicken Parm. The breaded chicken cutlet was sliced up rather than whole, and it was very dry. I believe they cooked the cutlet ahead of time and reheated it in sauce for the sandwich. How do you screw up a chicken parm sandwich, especially on Federal Hill? The #18 The Accountant - Meyer Lansky is a version of a Reuben; Hot pastrami, corned beef, Swiss cheese, 1000 Island dressing, and sauerkraut - Served on a torpedo roll rather than traditional grilled rye. The meat was very tasty, however I only detected a few strands of cabbage from the kraut and there was no trace of dressing. The sandwich itself seemed much smaller than the others I've had. Other problems I have with Wise Guys is the attitudes of the staff. Once in a while, they're nice and cordial...But most regularly they're kind of pissy. Doesn't seem they enjoy their jobs and would rather be somewhere else. I can relate to that temperament, but professionally, I always keep those feelings to myself and do my best to make customers meals enjoyable. Also, the continuity of the sandwiches - You may want to remember the face of someone who made ya a not-so-great sandwich and avoid them next time. The interior is a no-frills set-up seeming to be designed to be easily kept clean - However, the table tops are usually greasy, dirty, sometimes cluttered...Even on a slow day. Your best bet may be to get take-out. Wise Guys also has a prepared foods display, usually consisting of meatballs, lasagna, stuffed peppers, tuna salad, etc. It looks pretty good, but I haven't tried anything from it yet. They usually have stuffies which they also offer on their hot menu...They pre bake them though. Must really dry em out by the time they're reheated. I'd go no earlier than Thursday to buy anything from the deli case...They probably start building up everything for the weekend then and by Monday, everything is old. Gotta say, the meatballs are the biggest I've ever seen. I'll continue eating at Wise Guys, and attempt to order things other than The Cubano. There are many sandwiches I haven't tried that I'm sure are delicious. The sandwiches are one size only and are generally very large. You pay for it though, $8.50 - $9.50. Thurs-Sat, they offer Fish & Chips and a Shrimp Po Boy...I'll try em both at some point. Also, WG's does breakfast sandwiches starting at 7am...They actually seem like a good deal. $3 for an egg and cheese (lg choice of cheeses) on Eng muffin or white/wheat, $1 for a meat, $.50 e onion/pepper/shroom...Includes a free cup of coffee. Not a bad deal. I'm sure I'll adjust this review in the future as I still have more to try at Wise Guys. I really do hope it's for the better...I like to see small businesses succeed, even if they're part of a corporation. At least it's a local corporation. Till then; Mangia, mangia, tough guy!

Stopped by for a quick lunch. I got the Chef's salad and at first was hesitant to spend $10 on a lunch salad. When I got it I realized why- it was huge! Tons of meat and toppings with fresh veggies! Definitely enough for dinner which makes the extra money worth it! Can't speak on the other foods but I'm sure I'll be back!

Decided to stop in since we were in the mood for a sandwich and Yelp gave them a decent review. Clean, nothing fancy, actually the seating isn't very different from that at a Subway or D'Angelos. The decor is very different though, they stick very strongly to the mobster theme, the pretend bullet holes in the windows, on the menu, lots of Sinatra playing, mob pictures on the walls. Three tvs showing a mob movie, kinda glad I had finished eating when the beat down went down. All that blood on the guys face wasn't what I expected to see while munching on my sub. Now, I use the word sub, they say sandwich. It is a sub, it is on a sub/grinder roll, so you get a lot of food. If you are coming for lunch, you might have some for dinner. Rolls are really good. You will not be shortchanged in the meat department either, it is stuffed. Fresh too. And the meat, it isn't that pressed fake crap either. It is real meat. The case holds things like eggplant parm, American Chop Suey, stuffies and more. They all look good. As for the interaction with the staff, all good. No attitude at all.

  • David F.

I have not been disappointed with Wise Guys yet. The idea kick ass if ya ask me. The mafia theme is way cool with mugshots, artwork and mob movies on the tvs, a welcome departure from sports, and the tile walls is reminiscent of vintage NYC subways (NOT the wannabe sub shops). Having tried several of the creatively named sandwiches before, today I opted for The Boss (Italian coldcut). As expected, it was huge and out of this world with real italian meats (NO Bologna, pun intended) and fresh veggies. I also tried a cup of the chowder as I'm a sucker for chowder. Although I prefer a red chowda, this was pretty good considering it's on Federal Hill and not Point Judith. The food here is definately worth the price. I can see where some might take the counter service as bad, as I have been treated abrasively sometimes, but that's where the tip figures in. I can handle a little rudeness for a killer sammy.

Went here because they had a Groupon... So I figured, might as well. The downside of this is that the Groupon wasn't valid for sandwiches, which I'm sure is their specialty... So perhaps I have to go back. The wait wasn't very long for my food... Which was just ok. I got the caprese salad (pretty good; I asked for prosciutto, which they were very generous with). Also, I got the fish and chips (ok) and a side of calamari (bland and a bit rubbery).

Worst experience here. Decent looking place and menu, noir traditional deli, good offering of sangys with cliche names. Worst service ever. Took 20 min for me to find out the lost my order and another 12 to make it after. Do you know how frustrating it is to see multiple people order after you, get food, finish and leave before you get a very mediocre sandwich? Never going again.

some of the previous reviewers obviously caught these guys while they were ramping up because the service was friendly and professional, the food was excellent and the place is spotless. We got the Cuban and an Eggplant Parm, tried the meatballs and a stuffie just to round it out. First things first; the sandwiches are massive. For the average guy, measure your wrist to your elbow - big. You can split one or make two meals out of these things. Second, we walked in around lunch time so it took a little longer (15 minutes or so) for the order to be ready but the traffic was steady. Steady traffic means high product turnover - high product turnover means fresh food. The eggplant was obviously fresh - *not* that frozen crap in patties that Sysco delivers on a truck. Good marinara, cheese and a fresh roll. Very simple and very good. The Cuban was stacked with Serrano ham, cheese, pickles and marinated pork, a bit of spice and a crunchy pressed roll. Meatballs were a side. I heard a lot of requests for the Boss so that is my next adventure. Will definitely be back soon. ((after walking out the door, I felt a little guilty for cheating on Angelo's but until Wise Guys adds smelts and snail salad to the menu, all is well on the Hill))

Very disappointing. Salad was sad looking. The menu says "killer" salads are served with garlic knots but mine did not come with any. Ordered grilled chicken for $3 extra which was literally 3mm thin. Tried to add prosciutto which the menu clearly states is $3 extra but was told on the phone it was $4. Not exactly sure why there's so much disparity with the menu and actual ordering. Won't be ordering from here again anytime soon.

Here for the weekend, working, show at the convention center. Had the #6 today. Def going back tomorrow and probably getting one for the road. BOMB subs. We did order the subs again. This time I was disappointed. Tried the #11. The girl on the phone said roast beef, broccoli rabe with roasted red peppers, sharp provolone. When I got the sandwich... no meat and no cheese. Hope it was a brain fart on their part, because my first experience was so good.

Disappointed. Ordered the Sicilian pizza. The positive is they were pretty quick, but sadly the pizza was way overdone. And the crust just was not a good Sicilian crust. We ate at best 1/3rd of the pizza and threw out the rest. I never waste food. The garlic knots were also overdone and not even close to worth the $3 they charge. I didn't even taste any garlic. Sorry "wise guys" you failed on this one.

I got delivery, so I can't comment on the sit-in service, but never again will I be ordering from this place. I waited twice as long as I was quoted, the driver forgot my soda, and the pizza was DISGUSTING. I was supposedly getting "Basil pesto, sliced fresh tomatoes, marinated chicken breast and mozzarella. Topped with fresh garlic, olive oil and Romano cheese." There were definitely some spots of pesto in places, but mostly it was a soaking wet mess from way too many "fresh" tomatoes. Due to some culinary mystery, the chicken was completely dry. The mozzarella and romano were flavorless and indistinguishable from each other. Most of it ended up in the trash.

I'm a longtime Geoff's devotee, so I like a sandwich place with lots of options. This place was slick and cool on the inside. The staff at Wise Guys happily filled my reusable bottle with tap water without rolling their eyes, kindly cut my son's sandwich into manageable pieces, and maintained a good-looking, clean bathroom. On to the sandwiches. They were pretty regular. I liked my BLT, but I found that all the sandwiches we ordered suffered from the same fatal flaw - too much bread product. I don't even want more meat to fill up that much bread. I just want options! Whole wheat, rye, Italian (come on, you should have this already! It's Federal Hill!) even white slices would be better than the huge sub/grinder rolls that seemed to be the only available bread option. I hate throwing out food, but there's just no way I can reasonably eat that much bread. I ran out of BLT fixins with lots of bread to spare, and I'm not a weird eater, to my knowledge. If they open up the bread selection a little, I'll try it again, because the ingredients were really tasty (fresh tomatoes!), but until then I'm in search of other superlative sandwiches.

Thought we would try this place out. Not impressed. Called in my order told to come in about 30-45 mins. We got there about 20 mins, went in food was already waiting. so it was COLD. Nothing to rave about. Not mention a HOT sub should have been HOT not ice cold and soggy. I will not be going again. The food didn't have much taste either. I'm not sure how you mess up something with pesto on it but they sure did. I cant imagine the tomatoes were fresh either, they were so soggy.

Well, it is pretty good. The sandwiches are huge. However, this place is a title pricey just for sandwiches. I prefer Anthony's off River Street. The stuffies are not the best I've had either. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about this review after contemplating the mob motif inside the deli. It is a good spot for late-nght grubbing, as they are open late.

A basic food joint. I wwanted pizza for dinner and that's what I got. No frills, simple tasty food, although I looked at the menu and thought most items were pricey. I'm not crazy about the gangster pictures on the walls. Not a fan of criminals.

The sandwiches are very inconsistent, sometimes OK, sometimes not so Ok. You need to teach your employees behind the counter to be nice and greet the customer, my last experience there the man behind the counter did not say a word to me until I turned around and left! To late my man, there is a lot of good food right out side your door. I've spent my last dollars at wise guys deli!

"Meh" is the best I can give. I've always been curious about Wise Guys so tonight I decided to order in. It took nearly two hours to get a caesar salad and garlic knots. The salad was pretty good but the garlic knots were super stale. The long wait wasn't a big deal, places get busy and I don't live too close. I'm not going to start a riot, but I don't go back.

  • Sean K.

A friend of mine introduced me to their Valentine Pizza. I absolutely loved it! So much so that I had it home delivered the very next day. Without a doubt one of the best pizzas I have ever had.

Decent sandwiches, Nothing I would jump up and down about. Living in the neighborhood I've had the opportunity to visit on several occasions and I can say that I have never been unsatisfied or satisfied. Good for a quick lunch or a weeknight dinner. If your up for a drive to the other side of town, Anthonys Deli in the north end across from Lasalle Bakery is by far the best in town.

some of the previous reviewers obviously caught these guys while they were ramping up because the service was friendly and professional, the food was excellent and the place is spotless.

Cheers.

I came from NYC to visit my son and he told me that this is the best deli he had ever eaten at. Boy was he right! I'm very picky when it comes to a meatball hero, but when I tried the Prime Minister with garlic bread, it was the best meatball hero I had in a long, long time. I think the price matched the sandwiches because it's hard to eat the whole thing. Loved it and will definitely be back for more.

Damn good!

  • Joe A.

The sandwiches are huge and they are delicious. The onion rings need some work, your better off getting the fries. I've had the steak and cheese, eggplant parm, chicken parm, some chicken sandwich with lemon sauce and roasted reds and this special sandwich i created called the "paesano" - its breaded chicken with the stuffed roasted red pepper that they have in the prepared section spread out over the chicken with fresh melted mozzarella on top. madonami!

The quality of the food was OK. When you go to Federal Hill and buy an Italian sandwich from an Italian-themed shop, you have elevated expectations. I'd keep the name and work on reengineering some of the food in case De Niro and Scorsese walk in one of these days looking to relive the glory days...

Love the grilled chicken salad! Subs are amazing! Some days are better than others! But hey they're wise guys!

The sandwiches are pretty good but the "authentic Cesar salad" was a box of lettuce with a packet of kens Cesar dressing ........sooo........

The. Spot!

Ever....
