I really love this bakery, mostly because it's close and they always have something fresh and delicious to buy! I'd much rather stop in here for a loaf of fresh bread than go to a store like whole foods or stop & shop. It's a small space but they always have something worth trying! Everything I've eaten from here has been a delicious surprise.

I stopped in here recently to try a few things. Ok service, no frills decor. I tried the mini cannoli, cherry slice, lemon square, fudge nut brownie, and banana bread. I hate to say that the only thing I really liked was the cherry slice. Cannoli gets soggy when pre filled and I just didn't like the flavor of the other things. Maybe there are other good things that I did not try but the flavors were not fresh and sort of off tasting. I will have to stick to my usual bakeries. I highly recommend Deluise for a cheap bakery that never disappoints.

This is a classic neighborhood bakery, here for almost a century, turning out amazing pastries and breads. The prices are an act of charity, especially for this area of Providence, reflecting costs of a decade or two ago. You can tell this is a family business with folks who really care about the product and providing excellent service. I will recommend that you try the cinnamon stick. It is literally the best I've ever had. Anything with a buttery pastry that comes out of this bakery is stellar (for example, the rugula). There are also pizzas, calzones, and amazing breads. Support local businesses -- you won't regret stopping in here.

Great food! Great people! Every single thing from Wayland bakery is delicious and super affordable. You'll find much more than just mouth watering sweets, they also make fresh wraps, salads and sandwiches. The Greek wrap is my favorite.

I came in here thanksgiving eve and got some raisin bread, to make French toast. Omg!! One of my better culinary decisions! It was such a hit. Loved the counter staff! Very cordial and helpful.

Love the pizza, and so does my kid. I'm not so into sweets, so I appreciate the savory treats. Possibly the best coffee around Wayland Square.

I was super-excited to find this old-school bakery down the street from my new apartment. The look is a little dated, but they're making pastry here - I don't want innovation, I want deliciousness! And they definitely deliver. They have a huge variety of tasty treats, all at incredibly reasonable prices. This has become my go-to spot when I am invited somewhere for dinner. Who doesn't love a guest who shows up with dessert? And who doesn't love being able to get that great dessert at an awesomely low price?

The quintessential neighborhood bakery. Prices are incredible (especially for this part of Providence), product is very solid, and the variety is pretty good--just not someplace you would really go to sit down and catch up w/a friend as the inside is more a storefront than cafe. Had an incredible vanilla cupcake FOR ONE DOLLAR [can't remember the last time that happened]: sweet but not diabetes-inducing sugar/buttercream frosting w/a moist and light cake, lightly chilled but not so much that i couldn't eat it immediately. a few specialty cupcakes for just another 75 cents more! they also had great frosted sugar cookies for $1, bags of 10 non-frosted for $3, and larger & fancier Sesame Street fellas for $1.75. i will be going back for Cookie Monster soon~

Nothing terrible and nothing terribly great. Right on, in the middle, average bakery with solid pastries when you need to cure a sweet craving. However, what you should do is go down to the Portuguese bakery on Ives St. Only a few blocks away and much, much better in terms of selection and quality. No hard feelings, Wayland Bakery. I still enjoyed your free samples! Peace.

Great neighborhood bakery. Loved my iced coffee and my husband loves their pies! They just got some outdoor seating (although it is essentially in a parking lot) which is nice on a hot day.

this place smells amazing. it smells like grandma's kitchen, and grandma's been making everything amazing and vanilla and sugar and (by the way, it's a store, and everything's for sale). but let me tell you, the mini cannoli are ~$.85 each, and they're amazing, and it took me less than a dollar to tell you that. their portuguese sweet bread loaves are gigantic and beautifully fragrant and only $3.25. most of the pastries range between 1-5 bucks, which is a total steal. the shop sign outside has a wonderful vintage to it. the frosted pastries/cookies looked a little (my 5-year-old did this and it's for a bake sale) but i'm not into frosting anyhow, so that doesn't matter. give them some love! get a cannoli. leave happy!

I stumbled into this bakery one afternoon while shopping in Wayland Square. $1 cupcakes? The little one fully enjoyed it. She gave it four stars. It's a small and humble store front with some qualities sweets at a very reasonable price.

this review is based on the cannolis that i bought - they are small - only .85c -- but not sure how long they have been sitting in the case for -- shells were SOGGY! and the filling tasted a little off... wouldn't return for them... they do offer a lot of other pastries. Plus they offer some savory items -- old school bakery and i find that these places are hit or miss

My mom and I stopped here for some breakfast before we headed out of Providence. I got a blueberry muffin, it was fine, nothing spectacular. My mom got something with cranberries and raisins, did not sound appealing to me. I also picked up some dessert items to take my friend in Albany who we would be staying with that night. I got several cannolis and cream puffs. They were all fine, not mouth watering or anything.

I am mortified by the customer service at this establishment. While my two colleagues were setting up to do some work and me in line about to order some food (with money in my hand!) we were confronted by the OWNER as to whether or not we were going to order. I stated that we were but was then told that we have been loitering in this business all week, which was completely untrue, it was the first time I had set foot in this place in years. After the rude rude rude confrontation my colleagues and I decided to take our business elsewhere. Before exiting the girl behind the counter decided to add her two cents and cowardly said, "THEN LEAVE". I WILL NEVER EVER SPEND MONEY IN A BUSINESS THAT HAS ZERO REGARD FOR ITS CUSTOMERS. I WOULD ALSO SAY THAT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR BAKED GOODS THERE ARE MANY SUPERIOR BAKERIES THROUGHOUT THE AREA. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. To be clear we are working professionals of adult ages and not a gang of ne'er do wells.

Been coming here since I was 3 years old. Walking through the door now fills me with aromas of fresh pastries and many memories of coming here with Mom and little brother. Once we grew up the owner invited us to watch and learn how to bake. We got there in the middle of the night and we're treated to was is best described as a hands-on Willy Wonka tour. The peach pie filling was top secret though. No peeking. The original owner/baker has passed away, but thankfully some hardworking people have kept one of Providence's oldest bakeries alive with it's decor and charm intact. It's not quite as good as the golden years though. - - Noteworthy - - * Napoleons Eclairs Fig bars Lemon bars Cupcakes big chocolate chip cookies Long Live Wayland Bakery!

I adore the cookies here! Especially if they have frosting on them. The staff is always friendly and the place smells like a sugar dream. Highly recommended.

This is a classic American bakery --- a real feeling of nostalgia even though I have never visited before we moved to Wayland Square a month ago. Teenage son LOVED the chocolate chip frosted brownie. Also tried the mini lemon meringue pie which was delicious - the classic not overly tart lemon filling with an excellent meringue. What a treat to have this timeless American style bakery with quiche, cookies, cakes and all the other things you would expect - really classic fun decor in this tiny gem. Not to be missed in this time of generic chain store stores that are almost impossible to escape. Very reasonable prices.

The most adorable and unpretentious bakery I have seen in a long time. I love the look of this place, particularly the big 1950s motel-style sign outside and the three-dimensional murals of frolicking children and baked goods within. None of the styles employed really match, but that just adds to the overall charm. Their extensive collection of cookies is too cute, decorated to look like everything from footballs and baseballs to dinosaurs and cats to Elmo and Cookie Monster. (I particularly liked the gingerbread boys and girls, which looked like a small child had helped with the decorating.) Also on hand were cannolis, cupcakes, breads, and pastries galore. I tried a miniature chocolate eclair and a miniature Boston cream pie. The former was pretty good; the pastry was slightly too heavy but the filling and icing were both excellent. The latter was a bit disappointing; the icing seemed wrong for a Boston cream pie, the cake was a bit too dry, and the cream tasted faintly of lemon. It was, however, quite adorable in its little metal pie plate. Overall, this bakery has a large selection of decent products, great prices, and very friendly service. It seems like a perfect place for kids, too. Just don't expect the finest baked goods you have ever tasted.
