I had my first sandwich hut experience this weekend to the surprise of the group I was with. We were ordering takeout from home, and being the rookie I scoured their menu for a vegetarian option. The grilled vegetable wrap with cheese sounded promising, and I'm happy to report that it was! I wasn't sure what type of vegetables they would be using so I didn't make any requests or modifications, but next time I'll definitely tell them to go easy on the mushrooms. It was a cheesy goodness! We got a few peanut butter everything cookies for dessert, and they were the perfect sweet treat to end a simple little meal.

It may not look like much from the outside (a cool outside eating area near the parking lot), but the Hut is pretty good. I ordered myself some turkey, a small sub is enough for lunch (unless you are really hungry). The issue with the Hut as many have with the set up of the ordering and seating area. They have a huge seating area and a really small space to take orders. I feel like they should have sorted this all out by now since they have been in business for so long. They might hold a number 2 spot now on my list for go to sandwiches, Dok's being my top. I might have to go back again. You won't be disappointed if you head on over.

My family has been going to the Sandwich Hut since the early 1970s. For years I only got the Deluxe grinder. Now that I'm a little more flush, I only get the Allitalia. Both are stupendous cold cut subs. If I lived in RI I would explore the rest of the menu for sure. I love this place! My mouth is watering as I write this. Don't be concerned about the rumpty-dumpty look of the place. It's the real deal.

This place is seriously delicious. Some of the best sandwiches in town for sure. Great service as well. I don't need to say more. Just go. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely delicious sandwiches. I got a large Allitalia which was more than enough and was so good. The meat is so flavorful and they definitely don't skimp. The hot pepper relish was awesome, not too overpowering. This is my new favorite sandwich place in the city!

This place is unassuming, just off of North Main St. We were trying to kill time while waiting for a bus at the bus station and decided to drive up the street for some grub. First, it opens at 10 AM and the whole menu is available. And if you are like me, 10 AM is the perfect time for a sandwich. I ordered a roasted turkey small sandwich with cheddar cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, and honey mustard. The small is a 6 inch sub full to the brim with meat. Super filling, fresh, and totally delicious. My mother ordered the eggplant parm sandwich, also a small, without the bread (she does stuff like this but I love her anyway). An Italian through and through, she exclaimed that the sauce tasted just like her own (high praise!!). The total of the two sandwiches was $15.50. The two attendants were incredibly nice and helpful. Willing to make any changes and very accommodating. The place was empty at 10 AM but there were plenty of seats and a very causal, relaxed atmosphere. We will go back the next time we are waiting for a bus in Providence and I highly recommend that you do the same!

Been going to Sandwich Hut for years. They always make a good sandwich. Hadn't been in while though, but I recently went back because I read Hilary H.'s muffaletta review. Now I wouldn't call myself a muffaletta expert, but I've eaten dozens from Central Grocery in New Orleans over the years. So I think I can judge based on eating what many people call muffaletta perfection. While the Sandwich Hut version isn't the same as NOLA's Central Grocery original, it's pretty darn tasty. Something in it, and I think it was the olive salad, was a little sweeter than I was expecting. That didn't make it necessarily bad, although I prefer my sandwiches not sweet in general. It also didn't have the sesame seed bread either (compared to the original), so that was a little disappointing. The 1/2 sandwich is a bargain at $6.95 and plenty for 1 person. All in all, the Sandwich Hut did a very good job at creating a very good muffaletta. I will return!!!

Came here for lunch on a Friday 1pm and it was pretty full with only 1 table available. A good number of people take out. There is some seating in the back of the shop as well since it was nice weather. The staff were very friendly. We elected to get the meatball sub and it did not disappoint. Meatball sub - perfect crisp bun not too light and not too dark, average meatballs, added provolone and they gave plenty Overall, I'd come back to try other things on their menu.

This place is awesome. I saw this place featured on the Phantom Gourmet and was in the area so I had to try it. I'm so glad I did. My sandwich was so flavorful and so fresh. I can't wait to go back! I highly recommend this place.

Muffalata olive spread sandwich with roasted red peppers. Had pesto instead of mozzarella

Get the allitalia! Seriously, it is delicious! Prices here are reasonable, the staff is very friendly. There is small little patio out back with about 4 tables. They have yacht club sodas here. I also had a bite of one of their sampler brownies on the counter - sooo fudgy! Keep in mind that other than Chowder on Fridays, they do not make soup during the summer.

After seeing these folks at the Merry Marketplace event, I figured I would give them a try when I had a work from home day for work. I really want to give a higher rating than what I've given, but I'm hoping my next trip will give 5 stars. I'm a fan, but it's not as good as it gets... yet. Lunch is busy. Beyond busy. There is no rhyme or reason to what line is what, and sometimes you'll pay for your sammich even before you order it! A number system, deli style, would probably make things a lot less confusing for all involved. For my first sandwich, I tried the Italiano Cubano, as I had tried a piece of it when at the Marketplace. Sandwich was BURNING hot. I had to give it about 15 minutes before it was even edible, which was really frustrating after waiting a while for the sandwich itself. The Cubano wasn't what I expected based off of what I tried at the Marketplace, as it was a lot spicier and HOT HOT HOT. Not my cuppa tea. That being said, the bread was delicious! DELICIOUS. The half size is huge, and not too too expensive. I can get a foot long sub at Subway for the same price, but this one is of higher quality. Next time I go (and yeah, there will definitely be a next time, these guys deserve a second shot) I'll be checking out a meatball sammich! There's also a very nice outside terrace that I'm pretty stoked for once theweather gets better. Parking was a breeze as well!

Lots of love from the community and food-lovers alike, and I can certainly see why. Tucked away on Main St, this little hut d'sandwich can be easily missed unless you take a look on the website or just talk with the locals. Be warned, if you come here during rush hour (lunch hours), be prepared for a fairly long line. The meat here is fresh, made in front of you in a surgical precision. I had the Muffuletta and the Allitalia, and both were fairly distinct and full of personality and flavor. I wasn't a big fan of the bread for the muffuletta, but really enjoyed the sweet relish condiments that blended well with the saltiness of the cured meats. The Allitalia was pretty intense, and trust me (and all of the other yelpers) that a small sandwich is more than enough for one mortal. Next time, I do plan on trying some of the warm meat sandwiches, but until then you should definitely pay this place a visit! ps: check-in with the yelp app and you can get a free beverage! Food: 4 stars Service: 3 stars Price: 3-4 stars

This place is always so busy during lunch time and for good reason: their sandwiches are the bomb.com . This place is hopping during the week so be prepared for a little bit of a wait during the lunch rush hour. I've had their hot wraps and they are always fresh and quite delicious. My favorite thing here though? Those stuffed peppers. I could eat 12 of those for lunch..and dinner..and as a snack. They have the right balance of spice and flavor and they are so fresh. If you ever find yourself at the Sandwich Hut, try any of the sandwiches and you will not be disappointed. But don't forget those peppers!

Tough To Complain This place has been around for over 50 and is going no where. Absolutely delicious sandwiches made to order with scratch made ingredients. Tip: Try the meatballs or the Italian. Those are the staples. A Rhode Island Staple, a must try. Only complaint, if they could just try to fix the order line so 20 people are jammed up at the counter that would be helpful. Thanks

Landmark... other sandwich shops may come and go but they all wish they could be The Sandwich Hut. Fresh ingredients and great service makes eating here a pleasure. The menu is full of all the classics you'd expect but they are innovating and keeping up with the times. The main reason you should be stopping here is the 3 different style Italian subs they offer. The Alitalia is amazing and I opt for the fresh Mozzarella... Sorry if it's not almost lunch time for you! Seating area is small and it can fill up quick, in the summer there is outdoor seating by the parking lot in back of the shop. Promise me you'll try the homemade stuffed cherry peppers, you will not be disappointed!

I can't believe it took us so long to try this place, but I am glad we did. The large sandwiches feed 2 people for under $10, such a deal! We tried the Allitalia and everything about it was delicious. We also like that they deliver, since there are so few options around here for that. This is going to be our sandwich spot in Providence!

  • William H.

Love me some sandwich hut! I do love all their meaty sandwiches but sometimes I like a veggie option. I'm not sure if it's new for them or if I'm just discovering them, but they have a smoked pickle sandwich and a veggie mufflaeta on focaccia that are both really tasty. There's also the regular "cold veggie" sandwich that's quickly become a staple. Sandwich Hut is legit and delicious. The staff is kind, friendly, and efficient. What are waiting for? Go get lunch!

How have I not reviewed this place yet? I love the Sandwich Hut! Just thinking about this place gets my mouth watering and my tummy grumbling. Anytime I am in the vicinity of North Main St. I have to find an excuse to stop at the hut. In the many many times that we've eaten there we have never had a bad sandwich or a bad experience. I myself am partial to the All Italia & The Deluxe, these are the best italian grinders I have ever had. . . anywhere! The spicy pickle relish is amazing too, if they jarred that stuff I would totally buy it. The husband really enjoys their Muffaletta & the heaping willow tree chicken with crispy bacon added. These sandwiches are so filling, a small or half size is plenty for a normal human. I ordered a large once and had to take half of it to go. They certainly do not skimp on the sandwich fillings here! To round out your meal get a stuffed pepper or two and a Yacht Club soda, you will not be disappointed. The Hut has made a few appearances at recent Yelp events and they are always so friendly and encourage you to try a lot of samples. At the most recent Merry Marketplace they were featuring some new sandwiches and they were fantastic. They were so good that I may have to order something other then an italian sandwich the next time I visit.

Came here after a day on the lake. Friendly staff, amazing menu and the food is amazing. Everything is made fresh and cooked to perfection. So much flavor and appeal! Would definitely come back and recommend to others! Not from rhody but would consider coming back for another sandwich and friendly/ family atmosphere.

The Sandwich Hut has totally upped their game, and here's why: their take on The Muffaletta. Seeeeeriously, guys -- where has this sandwich been all my life?! Meaty, fresh and filing, it's the stuff sandwich dreams are made of and it shan't be missed. The Hut is a cozy, unpretentious piece of Americana on North Main with no frills and lot's o' charm. It's a small, locally-owned family-run biz that has been around for generations and prides itself on customer care and good, tasty food. They're my favorite straight-up subs shop in town, and you'll easily find me there twice a week, if not more. My obsession du jour? The Cold Veggie sub. When you can't eat deli meat (it's a no-no for ladies who are preggers), this sandwich is the answer to your deli sub cravings: fresh veggies, big flavors and that delicious Italian bread bun. I love it. Ordering is very efficient, and as you wait in line you can peruse the lovely display of Yacht Club Sodas made just a few miles away. Their sandwich makers are friendly, fast and make a gorgeous sandwich that's hard not to eat right then and there -- luckily they have a little dining area, and an even cuter one up in the back outside so you can enjoy pleasant weather while you chomp away. Of course, you can get your wrapped, bagged and ready to go, which it what I usually do. All in all, I love the Hut -- it's pretty much my favorite sandwich place in town, and I don't see that changing anytime soon!

Steak and cheese sandwiches were very good. They have small and large sizes. We also bought two large peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies. Very delicious!

This is one of the Best places to get a Sandwich in New England. I suggest the Allitalia or Muffulatta.

  • David R.

So fantastic!! Another Yelp score - I never would have known from the outside, but came based on the great reviews. And it totally lived up! We got veggie muffaleto and meatball & eggplant parm, both of which were excellent, and the special Italian tuna which was the best thing ever. Looking forward to coming back asap.

what can I say except I love this freaking place. The sandwiches are great and Well worth it. The place it's self is nothing fancy but has plenty of room to eat and even has a patio out back. Prices can be a little above the normal but I feel it's worth it and everything is made fresh. The focaccia bread is good and makes the sandwiches that much better. Others have said they had problems with the stuff but I find them fine and accommodating. Had No problem assigned this or taking things off a sandwich. Overall I think it's one of the better ones and should be tried at least once.

  • Allison M.

I honestly and truly love this place. It's delicious and unpretentious, and really well priced. Plus, the staff is great - warm and helpful, patient and understanding of what it means to assemble a proper sandwich. I've been a customer here for a long time, and I've always enjoyed meals here. They make lots of things in-house, and buy local for whatever else they need. And, recently I've discovered they make their own pickles now...yup... It's a small space, but I've never had trouble finding a seat. The parking is a little awkward, but they deliver! The MPR is great, as is the Alltalia, Meatball and pretty much everything else I've ever had. Open until 9pm now. Yesssss.

  • Andrew D.

Large meatball is the best around to me, large sub on a fresh baked Italian is what I usually order. They also have great oven roasted turkey. These guys do things in house and have great service. Only downfall is its in Pawtucket and usually a crackhead or bum lurking around.

    (4)
  • Joshua W.

Amazing sandwiches, i recommend the chicken cutlet, the turkey breast, or the sandwich of the day always with banana peppers! plus there are so many add ons! Please be advised these sandwiches are made with love so if you are looking for Subway speed or happen to be from Brooklyn (like me) call ahead and give them about 15-20 min. Everyone wins! Also try their homemade cookies...the bomb dot com! small suggestion...Please get Grubhub!

I worked in providence for over 20 years and in the process have enjoyed many sandwiches, usually the Allitalia! Every item is top rate and service is superb! Now I live nearly 90 minutes away but every trip to Providence has to include a stop at the Sandeich Hut! Stuffed peppers are world class!

    (5)
  • Natalie S.

I tried the Allitalia it was good the little sweet girl making it forgot the lettuce and peppercini but that's ok. Next time I'll get them. I also tried the blonde brownie which was mouthwatering. I plan on going back to try more things because it was very good.

Absolutely THE best sandwich place in Rhode Island. Been coming here ever since I was a young boy. Clean and friendly staff always willing to make a grinder (sandwich) any way you would like. Everything is fresh and made custom to order. Place is insanely good and if your going to the beach, stop here to get your lunch to take with you.

  • James M.

I eat at a lot of different places in providence and this is by far my favorite. The reason you ask is it is always consistent at all times. The staff is so awesome and you can tell they are adapting to the times by introducing square payment and a iPad at the front where there was always a register but at the same time still making a great product.

    (5)
  • Alberto B.

I originally came across this place close to 15 years ago. And till this day I have not had a bad experience. I love their fresh ingredients and their great customer service! And their stuffed peppers are hands down the best I have ever had. Everyone I share them with says the same!

  • Evan S.

You really can't ask for much better in a sandwich place. Simple, but comfortable, setting; simple, but delicious, food. It's all about a few basic things here: meat, cheese, bread, olive oil, spicy peppers. The menu isn't extensive or experimental; what you get are classic deli sandwiches done right with high-quality, fresh ingredients. The Allitalia is quite possibly the platonic ideal of the Italian cold-cut grinder. Sandwiches are huge mountains of cured meatiness (I always get a small and leave stuffed). Hot sandwiches are great too; house-made meatballs are the bomb. The small space gets packed at lunch time (people around here know a good grinder when they taste one), but the efficient, good-natured staff keeps the line moving and the sandwiches coming. Oh, and forget that bag of chips and get a sausage-stuffed hot pepper as a side; you can thank me later.

    (4)
  • Sara M.

Best sandwich shop in town. The turkey and the chicken salad are my favorites and I have never had a bad meal. I strongly recommend calling ahead because the line can get long between 12-1:30. They are also open for dinner now.

  • Liz T.

Walking into Sandwich Hut, I feel like I'm walking into an early 80s local establishment--the kind where you've got regulars who have faithfully eaten there almost daily for years. The old school tables, dry erase boards, daily specials, and ladies in aprons behind the counter make you feel strangely at home and at ease. I tried the turkey and meatball. Totally classic, totally clean, totally tasty. I really have no complaints. For standard subs or italian sandwiches on foccacia, this is the place the go in Providence. There actually aren't very many straight up sandwich shops that give you the wholesome, hearty, real deal. I'll definitely be back--I need to try the fresh mozzerella and peppers!

  • Mary D.

I've been coming to sandwich hut for 15 years. I used to go several times a week but now that I moved out of Providence, I go when I can. I usually get the Deluxe sandwich. The mufflatta is also very good. In those fifteen years I have never had a bad experience until today. My sandwich was missing items but I had already left so I didn't notify them of the mistake. This one poor experience in no way negates the myriad of positive ones, so five stars it is for the best sandwich shop in Little Rhody! P.S. Please please bring the old pickles back!!!!!

Love. MPR or bust! (Still the chef special in my heart). Strongly encourage calling your order in for lunch prime time. It will benefit your time - and theirs! Have you seen the commercial on YouTube? It's the best. The Sandwich Hut: youtu.be/jc0HEXOsYT8

  • Amy L.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this as a lifelong Pawtucket resident but I hadn't eaten at the hut until last week. I got a standard turkey sandwich and it was quite delicious. Nothing makes a sandwich like a great roll. I think a small sandwich and a bag of chips cost me about $7! It was a bit busy so don't come here if you're in a rush at lunchtime.

    (4)
  • Jessica S.

I don't know why it took me so long to come here, since I love a good sandwich place. I got a mozzarella, tomato, and pesto sandwich and a deluxe Italian with lettuce and no onion. Both very good. Who knew this place would have the second best brownie in town? (The first being at Café Choklad) Very good, as is the apple cake. They did forget my cake and I had to ask for it, the only negative. They are sitting out so maybe you are just supposed to take it? I don't know cause they didn't tell me either way. They do have a sitting area and they promote local businesses with cards and sell local soda. Expect a wait if it is lunch time or call in your order. Overall a solid stop.

  • Lu T.

Amazing sandwiches served by amazing people; I know it sounds about as cheesy as a, you already got the joke so on to the food. The food is delicious, large sandwiches are ridiculously big and all the food is fresh. I never had bad service and the place is clean. I love the chicken cutlet with honey mustard on the side.

    (5)
  • Kelly F.

The honeymoon phase is over. The Italian on a wrap just doesn't cut it. I really can't understand how a sub shop could run out of rolls. The owner just threw her hands up ans said "Busy day." That's like me giving a client a facial and telling them "No mask, busy day". It's ridiculous. They also ran out of potatoes the other day. My husband asked if they would make a steak, egg and cheese. Nope. If it's not on the menu, your not getting it. I'm moving on......

    (3)
  • Sara B.

This place rocks! Best Italian grinder I have had. PERIOD! I Haven't been in a while because the hours were not working wit my schedule. I dont beilve they are open after 6 any day of the week. I have a sudden craving now! I like how they dice up the pickles on the sandwich. It's a small spot with limited parking but the sandwiches are great and the stuffed peppers they sell at the counter are the bomb!!!! the lunch time is usually bust from what i remember so call ahead.

    (5)
  • Sara P.

I had wanted to try this place for a while, but every time I thought of it it was Sunday and they were closed. I eventually remembered on a Saturday when I was looking for something to eat. I was not disappointed. I had the Allitalia sandwich, basically your quintessential italian sub with great thing sliced meat, cheese, pickles, peppers lettuce and tomato. The olive oil dressing adds a great flavor. I like the selection of Yacht Club soda also as I like buying local and avoiding all the junk that is in regular soda.

  • Jean F.

How could I be a true Rhode Islander and have never gone to The Sandwich Hut?!? We split a ginormous meatball sub and let me tell you, it was great! I can't way to o back again....I might even have to get my very own!

    (4)
  • Jillian K.

The sandwiches are great here. They really load them up and it tastes like they use really good ingredients. It's not as cheap as some of the chain sandwich shops, but it's so much better, you don't even care. Great drink choices!

  • Karen G.

It took me months, but I've finally found the best sandwich place in Providence. I've had an Italian and a Roast Beef from there. It's exactly what I was looking for -- classic deli sandwich: fresh meat, delicious bread, ample portions, loads of toppings, good price. Parking sucks and sometimes it's busy, but it's all so very, very worth it.

  • Chris E.

If you are looking for a Great Sandwich from a simple shop this is the place to go. I usually drive 20 minutes from MA. to get a sandwich from The Sandwich Hut. Great service, fresh food, comfortable atmosphere. The meatball sub and Alitalia are always top choices of mine.

    (4)
  • Mike P.

I have been going to the Hut for over 20 years and thought I've seen people come and go, prices go up, and changes in and out, the quality of the food has never changed. Always fresh and consistantly good. The AlItalia is awesome, the meatball sausage combo great. Any of the Croissant special also great. NOBODY has better stuffed hot peppers NOBODY. Keep up the great work.

Wow great little spot! Stopped by while in the area and decided to check it out after reading other reviews. Made it just before the lunch rush. The food was made quickly and tasted excellent! Everything was fresh too. People were very friendly.

Wasn't greeted when we walked in. More like avoided. Ordered a BLT on multigrain. The bread was burned around the edges. $22 for 3 sandwiches and a soda. No chips or pickle.

I was in prov so i decided to try the hut cuz of yelp. I got the italian grinder which was one of the best I've ever had...tons of meat great hot relish...also got the eggplant for my wife which she couldnt put it down...ill be there everytime I'm in the area

    (5)
  • Phil N.

Yep. Yelp. Ho Hum. Been going here for years. One of the most consistent sandwich shops in the area (think all of providence). When you walk in and encounter the line, you know you need to wait for this. But the line moves quick. We are talking about a well run operation. Kudos to the "hut"

    (4)
  • Jenny K.

It smells like an authentic Italian sub place (kind of vinegary) and my Italian sub was great. They don't fool around and mess with tomatoes or lettuce on their sandwiches. Just super-thin, fresh cold cuts and some type of red pepper relish on a roll. I've driven by this place and never noticed it before - it's in a random location. (They standardized their hours so now it's the most perfect place on earth. 5 stars!)

    (5)
  • Holland T.

This is a sub shop, and is about average. (Though the Italian sub does look very good.) It does not make a good sandwich. If you want a sub it's fine, but if you are looking for a good sandwich on good bread go else where.

  • Lorin K.

This little hole in the wall at the corner of 8th and Main was literally one hundred feet from my house for over two years. Could its proximity have influenced my decision to rate it with a whole five stars? No. I just so happened to accidentally move into the best little sandwich shop I have ever been to, and I have had sandwiches in a dozen cities throughout the country. Coming here, I have learned just what is wrong with the American palette, and just what makes the Sandwich hut unique. When discussing food quality in the United States, many individuals I have met from outside the country mention to variables that shape almost all of American food. Salt and cheese. Basically, the saltier and the cheesier your food the better. Hey ailing restaurant, Yelpers complaining that your food is bland? Throw some cheese on there, and add more sodium chloride! Seriously though, the Sandwich Hut is not bland, it just utilizes the full spectrum of flavors without relying on salt and cheese to make a sandwich, a nice and simple turkey sandwich or eggplant parm, superior to the preservative laden analog you may find elsewhere. The staff are fun, and the regulars are all fossils from a Providence passed. If you get a chance to come here, you will truly enjoy it. I promise.

  • Vinnie F.

My hometown is only an hour from Providence, but until I found the Sandwich Hut, I could not find a place around here that made what I would call a genuine italian sub. After driving by countless times, I reasoned that if it had been going since 1968, this little corner sub shop had to be good. Boy was I right. When I smelled the inside, I knew it would be good. Correct meats and cheeses? Check. Diced pickles? Check. Hot pepper relish? Check. They hit the exact flavor profile I have not found anywhere else around. Not only is the italian sub absolutely fantastic, but they roast their own turkey, which is absolutely delicious. Their counter area is narrow, and confusing for a first-timer. You don't really know how to navigate, order or pick-up right away. The service is just okay, but it's all about the real deal italian subs. The way I see it, I'll supply the charm if they continue to supply the flavorful italian subs.

Great local business and they deliver! The sandwiches and breads are fresh and made with quality ingredients. Sandwiches like theirs aren't easy to find in RI!

  • Dan E.

The sandwiches at the hut are top notch. The issue here, as John T. said, is the service. OK, put aside the "You order yet? SIR? You next? Is this yours?" stuff for a second. They have absolutely no plan for handling the flow of patrons. The way they do it here, you step up on the right side of the counter and order, and then you shimmy to the left a bit and just wait there - in any airspace available. So there's you, three other people who ordered before you, some Brown professor standing around with a menu in her hand who may or may not place an order this month, somebody trying to pay for a phone-in order, and some other people behind you who do know what they want, all kinda standing around in a non-fire-code-compliant holding pattern, waiting for direction of what to do next. So if all this was going on and the staff was cordial, working together, and showing a little bit of hustle, I think most people would be fine with it. Not exactly the case, though. Many of the crew go about their work wearing sad faces, becoming contentious with their co-workers in front of the patrons over small things, and generally act like The Sandwich Hut ruined their life. But if you can smile about the passive-aggressive BS like I can, then go. But, if you're one of these people (you know who you are, you 47% of yelp) who didn't get a drink napkin for their ice water this one time, and then proceeded to go home and rip the place with a one-star review, then you shouldn't go here. Look on the bright side! It's a solid grinder shop and at least one of the girls there is very nice (you'll know which one right away), so try it!

Stuffed peppers, get into them. I do also enjoy a good sub from the sandwich hut on occasion when I don't feel like driving deeper into Providence for lunch. They have some fun different types of Italian subs and I can appreciate that. If you're into Italian subs, definitely try one here, they're big, bulky and pretty delicious. Oh and they now offer delivery!

Second only to Dee's Deli in my book for Most amazing Sangwiches in RI... The Italian Connection hot on a Croissant is Epic! And there house made stuffed hot cherry peppers are by far the most superior shooter I have ever had

Eh... I get the idea that if I was a Woonsocket electrician, I'd be ranting and raving to all my friends about what a great place this is. Realistically, however, it's not that great. The sandwich I got was only one or two notches above Subway in quality, while the price was maybe 75-100% higher. The stuffed peppers were OK. Nothing to write home about. I feel like whenever something is even slightly Italian, a million people have to chime in with "OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD." ... nah son This is worthy of two stars, but I felt so raw after spending $16 on my mediocre lunch that I must give it a one.

The absolute best thing about Sandwich Hut is Omelette Day. Every Friday Sandwich Hut makes awesome coma-inducing Omelette Sandwiches in addition to their regular sandwich menu. If you live or work anywhere near North Main Street in Providence, you must try a Sandwich Hut omelette sandwich. Their regular sandwiches are good too. I mean, they're sandwiches. As much loyalty as this place inspires it's not like they're the most amazing food on the planet... but they are better than Subway. Mainly I think it comes down to the quality (and quantity) of the meat they use. If you're going to order any time between 11:30-1:30 in the afternoon, I highly advise calling in your order ahead of time. You'll still have to wait a while to pick it up, and their frustratingly disorganized order/payment/pickup area will still make you wonder if coming there is worth it - but at least you won't be waiting in line for half an hour to get a sandwich. And yes, the sandwiches are good enough that putting up with their crazy lines is worth it.

looking for a sandwich? Check out this place. Pride fills every roll here. I can't believe i just wrote that. But its true. Food is good, prices are good, and you'll leave happy. What else do you need from a sandwich shop.

This place is always a great place to grab a nice fresh sandwich. I work up the street and usually stop by once every couple of weeks for a great lunch. The service is fairly quick although it isn't surprising to see the line for the lunch rush almost going out the door. I have tried a wide selection of their sandwiches and pasta dishes. The sandwiches are really tasty, I would recommend the Deluxe or Allitalia. The meatball subs are quite amazing as well. I grab an order of stuffed peppers with just about every meal, they are so good it is hard to resist ordering them.

Looks a little sketchy/old from the outside, but that's just because it's been around so long! Total. Hidden. Gem. Convinced my other half to try it with me once a couple months back and now we frequent this place almost once a week. We've stuck to the turkey and italian subs, but I want to try others in the future. Just great, simple, delicious sandwiches.

These guys are a standard small sandwich shop. Good eats, good prices. They make each sandwich to order, so if you're in a hurry- call in your order. I had a delicious steak bomb sun there, and the people around me seemed to be enjoying their sandwiches as well! These guys also deliver, which is huge for the "hungry but lazy crowd" (I am a charter member).

The sandwiches are very good but I feel there overpriced, 930$ for a small Turkey with cheese and a bottle of water

I've been here for lunch at least dozen times and I love every sandwich I've gotten at The Sandwich Hut. In the winter I stick with the meatball sub. It is served with 4 yummy hand rolled meatballs and thick slices of provolone that melt into a gooey yummy mess. It isn't a pretty sandwich to watch someone eat, bye hey- it's good! Other times I've gotten the turkey or the Italian and they are equally tasty. The staff are a little aloof and don't seem to be too concerned with anything. I feel like their the owners children or something because the momma who is usually running the register speaks very colloquially to them. Another nice things about the sandwich hut is that they deliver!

Since this happens to be my families place I think my review will be a bit biased. Therefore I will make one anyway! I've eaten most sandwiches on the menu, created my own, and indulged on others personal creations. Being on both sides of the counter has allowed me the chance to experience the Hut more fully BUT it doesn't mean you won't find a tasty creation to call your own. This is the oldest sandwich shop in Providence so whether you live here or perhaps visiting both business and pleasure, stopping in here is an absolute MUST. You have not experienced Providence to its fullest until you've partaken of the Huts delicious menu. Don't be on the outside any longer!! Come to the Hut, where you're treated like one of the family. Coming off a recent trip back to my college town, where a little hole-in-the-wall serves THE best subs around, I was dying for the chance to find a place that replicated the messy, gooey goodness served there. The Sandwich Hut seemed promising, based on the reviews on Yelp. Upon entering and seeing that their veggie sub had many of the same veggies that my old favorite has, I thought this was promising. The only downside was the difficulty in ordering. The employees seemed confused when I tried to add extra toppings to my veggie sub, so instead I had to order a pastrami sub and pay extra for all the veggies to be included. Just about everything, including lettuce and tomato, were extra $$, which is a bit unfortunate, when the toppings are often what makes or breaks a sub. The sandwich itself came out warm and covered in melted cheese. It was pretty tasty overall, but still didn't compare to the delicious memories I have of the subs from my college days. The stuffed peppers were interesting. I expected them to be warm with melted cheese, but they were instead fresh out of the fridge. Try heating them up first and I'm sure they'd be more promising.

Great Best Meatball Sandwich around, even better with a Yacht Club soda.

I've always had a great sandwich here. The Italians and chicken cutlet are delicious. Try the homemade stuffed peppers, they rule. Seriously you have to try them. They aren't the usual ones soaked in thick oil, these are fresh and stuffed with spicy chouricio and provolone. The wheat rolls are hearty and delicious but a little too thick. Try to avoid noon - 1pm as it gets very crowded. If you do go during that time at least you have some awesome people watching.

Granted, not a catchy name. These people probably won't consult Steve Jobs on the next iPhone ad campaign. But they do make great subs. Also the Hut is not in the greatest neighborhood. But if you are Pathologically Fixated on a great Meatball sub, and you think people who screw up subs, or grinders or heros, ought to be shot on sight, then driving out North Main to the Hut is a Worthy Cause. Meatball subs should be toasted with cheese on top. People who don't get this (and there are places on Atwells Avenue who don't) should be barred from making subs. The Hut warns you it takes them a little time to make a sandwich but the wait is worthwhile. Meatballs with great sauce, red pepper relish and if you are inclined, onions... well, I am willing to rip my clothes off for this experience. Why not 5 star?. I have been once and while the vibe seems right, my bar is high for a 5-star sub shop like Pino's in Brookline, Mass. Go here.

Oh yeah, I'm a fan. They do a great job on specialty sandwiches, so get one! If you are the type that goes to a new place and gets a turkey sub expecting to be impressed - sorry. Alitalia is a sandwich the way its supposed to be, cured pork products, cheese and bread - served quick and fresh as ever.

I totally forgot about eating here til I read Cory's review, and then my mouth watered and my tummy rumbled and I told Cory I was writing a review for Sandwich Hut and I got even hungrier. Now. I don't really like bread. I know, I'm a freakin weerdo. But, this makes sandwiches problematic for me. But, I say screw that and eat em up when I go to Sandwich Hut. You know why? Because the sandwiches here kick some serious butt. And they will go to any extent to fix up your bad boy any way you like it. Extra onions? No problem, just don't go breathing on everyone after lunch. Extra anything? No something? Whatever you likey. Drool. Now I need to go get lunch. Thanks Cory.

From my days growing up in Providence, this is the Best sandwich place you can find in Little Rhody. This place is always busy, authentic and family owned. I wish they'd open on the West Coast. YUM

This local sandwich shop has been around FOREVER!!! The Hut is a legendary local landmark with the most delicious subs that I have ever had. My favourite is the Alitalia with the prosciutto and capicolla!!! The staff is always friendly and helpful. P.S. The carrot cake and soups are also really really good...

So I first started going to The Sandwich Hut when I was hmmmm, 10? maybe before that, definitely before I can remember, in high school and when I came home from college for summers, I worked there. This place is one of the coolest places around you can go for lunch. Denise and Frank, who run the sandwich hut are two of the friendliest and nicest people ever, everyone who enters this amazing place feels welcomed and comfortable. I have mentioned that as I am picky I end up frequenting the same place many times. This applies most heavily to this heavenly happening house of happy hungry home bred family cooking. So... I bet you're wondering about the food. Well don't, it's awesome, no question about it, everything on the menu is freakin wondiferous. Friday is Omelette Day! where you can get basically whatever you want, made into an omelette and served on their awesome sub rolls. My favorite is Pepperoni Cheese and Prosciutto (pronounced Pro-zsutt, and i mean zs like in zsa zsa, or the same thing that that horrifyingly stereotypical-gives-a-bad-name-to-gay-people-everywhere guy from that horrifyingly stereotypical-gives-a-bad-name-to-gay-people-everywhere show about fixing up straight men, I think you, zsush or zhuzh, woah sorry guys wicked tangent. But if you believe baloney or american cheese belongs in an italian, you need to not go here and be shot in the face (it's just a matter of logic people). Moral of the story is oh my deer fudgenutter gawd you need to check this place out, and be sure to get the stuffed peppers, I have only made a few dozen...thousand of them in my times, I should know. I feel like writing a few pages on top of this but long reviews mean less time for drinking and various other hedonistic pleasures. PEACE OUT HOO DEE HOOOOOOO

OLD school Italian subs. Totally classic, thinly sliced salty meats piled high on really really good fresh baked bread. All the locals know this is the place to go. Yup. If you're gonna be in Providence any time soon, eat here, it'll give you fond memories of Rhode Island, even if you're just passing through.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
