I went there on Friday for my nephews birthday. We had hibachi and omg was it delicious. So much flavor and a great show. The staff were attentive and great. My nephew had a great time. The portions was a great size, the sushi wasnt bad either. Definitely will be back!

Against my will, I decided to try accompany a friend to Mt. Fuji a couple of months ago for hibachi. After squirting sake down my shirt fairly aggressively, I left unsatisfied with syrupy rice and syrupy salmon leftovers (drowning in sauce). A different friend urged me to give it one more shot a few months later. My boyfriend and I placed a take out order (5 minutes away walking distance) which consisted of crab rangoon, crab tempura and a California roll. The crab rangoons barely had any filling which was heartbreaking. The filing itself was generic and tasteless. I even threw 4 out of the 5 away, which speaks volumes since rangoons are half the reason I wake up everyday. The crab tempura was ALL shell; basically no fish at all. The sushi was fine; not great not awful. Nothing special at all. Save yourself and go to the glorious Phoenix Dragon or Kon Asian Bistro for hibachi.

Not a fan. The sushi is overpriced and tastes pretty weird. The waitress/bartender was too busy chatting up all the guy customers I guess, including the ones in my group, because she forgot my order the first time, and then got it wrong the second time. smaller than usual portions. At least my sushi was really pretty, it just wasn't edible. The decor and ambiance is cool though. Drunk kids stumbling in, kinda loud. But that's fine with me. Won't be returning.

Mount Fuji is absolutely amazing! Our chef Sky was hilarious. I went with a really large group and our waiter was really great with our orders. We were all happy with our meals & drinks. Service was great & the restaurant is beautiful!!! I will definitely go back again!

I've never been to a Hibachi restaurant so far, and I have to say I was really impressed with the overall presentation that Mount Fuji gave and the variety of food available on their menu. I didn't experience the actual Hibachi, but I did get to experience the food, which was quite delicious. I got the Steak Teryiaki Bento Box, so it came with the steak, California Roll Sushi, Veggie Tempura, White Rice, and Shrimp. It was excellent, and waaaaay too much food for one person! The atmosphere was beautiful, and our waitress was super nice. Overall, I'll definitely be going back, and will want to experience the authentic Hibachi next time, because it sure sounded like a blast!

Wow words can't describe how amazing of a place this is. Walked in and just the atmosphere was perfect. First thing you see is a full bar with every kind of liquor known to man and monkey. It's filled with lights tvs and a circular bar with good seats and don't even get me started about the server. He made us amazing drinks and the care was fabulous. Now the food is just perfect there is also a hibachi as well and they cook the food right in front of you. I love chicken fried rice and what they gave me was perfect best fried rice ever. Deff will be returning soon

I went there on Saturday night for my mom birthday, we had 14 people and sat at the hibachi table. We was able to get a reservation for that large of a party the same day, they had a huge parking which I did not expect because of the location. The decor was absolutely beautiful, everybody was nice, I had a Bahamas mama and it was real good, our cook was so funny and entertaining, we loved him. Everybody loved their food. I had friend rice, steak and salmon combo with some shrimp, honesty it was delicious. Some of the people had shrimp and steak, some the chicken, other shrimp and scallops combo and everybody said their food tasted good. Most of all my mom was happy and satisfied. Can't wait to go back

How have I not left a review for Mount Fuji yet? Well I love this place. The food is always delish and the drinks are good. The wait staff is always very friendly and the wait for food is never long. Nice atmosphere and plenty of parking in the lot next door.

Disregard any errors or type-o's as I'm writing this on a FULL & HAPPY stomach!! If you like Benihana then you'll love Mt.Fuji!! The energy in the restaurant was very vibrant. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Chef Lee was awesome, but our server Jackie wasn't the brightest; but it couldve been the language barrier. The scorpion bowl was good, our sushi and oyster appetizer was delish, and our hibachi was great! HINT: We had a party of 5 and the gratuity of 17% was added to our bill. Typically it's added for 8 or more. That was the only surprise. I'll definetly visit this restaurant again when I'm in Rhode Island. ... Time to relax as I'm happy, full and now tired! :)

The atmosphere isn't exactly my style - lots of led lighting that changes color. So I have to agree with Kel S. that it's a bit "cheese - ola". The sushi had a great presentation with some sort of tiki looking decorative background garnished with a flower and even a lemon made to look like a mouse! Oh and can't forget the LED light with the sushi that changed color! The sushi was a-okay. Not the best I've had and certainly not the worst. Prices are comparable to every other sushi restaurant in the area. The hibachi portion of the restaurant looked fun, and would go back to try that!

This sushi place is a great go-to for groups. We came here on a Saturday night and opted for the dining area, so I can't speak for the hibachi area. But from what I could hear across the way, seemed like lots of fun. The floor plan is pretty open with a large oval bar separating the dining and hibachi area. The atmosphere is very night-lifey and a bit over the top for me. With alternating deep blue, purple, green and red lighting. However the service was pleasant and attentive. Not overbearing. Which was nice. We ordered the "love boat" to share. It was pretty good. The fish was fresh and the presentation was very nice. Although I half wish and expected that they placed it on a "boat." A bit of a bummer. Overall a decent experience. Probably would come here again with a larger group for the hibachi.

The food is really good. I've been here twice and ordered take out a few times. The inside is really nice and huge. There's a normal dining side with a bar and then a separate room for hibachi. Unfortunately both times I was there the service was poor. We always wait for someone to take our order. Then they bring everyones food out at separate times. They should really wait till everything is ready and then bring it out. Also, the mixed drinks are so-so.

Me and my party showed up right around the time they opened and we were asked to seat ourselves. Pretty quickly our waiter came and presented us with menus and took our drink orders. I would've liked for him to present us with the daily specials, which by the way were amazing. We each indulged on their daily lunch menu which included 3 rolls, a choice between salad and miso soup for $9.99. The taste of all the rolls were all very good, but I was a bit disappointed by the size. I got the Salmon, Salmon Avocado and California rolls and they were very delicious and came out quickly. The miso soup was in a very appropriate portion for a Japanese restaurant and really just primed me for the food. I got the spicy salmon roll after my meal for the little bit of crunch I was looking for and it came out quickly and was also incredibly tasty. All of the sushi was incredibly fresh, had fantastic texture, but the presentation was a little off. All of the vegetables, fruit and meat were brought together nicely, but the rice seemed to be put on kinda messy, but that doesn't bother me too much. I put it in my mouth and digest it. Who cares what it looks like? Just constructive criticism.

Came here for a friends birthday and absolutely loved it. The food was great, we got hibachi and a few apps, everything was so good! Our hibachi chef was great, really made the meal. I mean how can you complain when someone is shooting saki in your mouth haha. Another perk about Mount Fuji is a free parking lot. A huge plus in the federal hill area.

We were here last night with a big group for hibachi. We had a great time and our chef and the waitstaff were all really nice. Our meat was a bit overcooked but other than that the food was good. I liked the pina colada, scorpion bowl, and blue lagoon. I love the colorful atmosphere here myself but it's not for everyone. The bar is set up pretty well and it's just a fun place. 15% off isn't the best happy hour deal on the hill so they may want to up that a bit to get more business.

We went here with a few friends and were very disappointed. The service was AWFUL, they had two servers for the whole dining room area and the place was packed. We tried to ask a server for more drinks but he wouldn't even stop to acknowledge us, he simply shook his head no. I'm all for a good time but the at the right place and time, the bar area was more like a nightclub scene, extremely loud and obnoxious, and then there was the birthday gong on wheels, SO LOUD! The only thing missing was a DJ or Band. The food was ok but Shogun in Warwick is so much better. I won't be back.

Went here for New Years Eve dinner with some friends and family. We had made a reservation, cause ya know, we assumed it was the smart thing to do on New Years. When we arrived we were told our table wasn't ready yet. We were maybe 5 minutes early... Not a big problem, we decided to sit at the bar and order a drink. The drink menu was pretty great, and it took me a while to decide what I wanted to try. We waited for a while and gabbed at the bar, until we were told our table was ready. By now it was shortly past our reservation time. Which, I understand if the restaurant is packed and people take a while to eat, but there were several empty tables as we were taken through the restaurant to our table in the back room. We ordered the spicy crunchy roll to start, with yellowtail. And some edamame. The food was great. I then had the filet and calamari hibachi- which I was really excited about because I hadn't had calamari at hibachi before. I seriously can't complain about the good at all, I took home so much in leftovers I feel like I had two meals. And it was all delicious. The one thing I don't like about hibachi is that so much of it for me is the entertainment. I love a good chef who flips his utensils and entertains and seems to really enjoy what he's doing. When the table next to you has a chef that's giving everyone some saki and yelling "saki you, saki me!" and your chef isn't quite as entertaining... Well it's kind of a bummer. It was hard not to be distracted by the other group. We tried to engage as much as possible with our chef, but he didn't seem like he really wanted to engage with us as much. I would go back for the good food, but I don't know if sitting at a hibachi table is completely necessary. It didn't add to the experience for me. The place is surprisingly really nice inside... And I say surprisingly because when I drive by it while taking the Dean St exit all the time I never would have guessed it would be so modern and fancy.

The place is good. the hibachi is fun. The dining area though... If you have Maggie for a waitress be ready to be ignored and get half assed service. She asked what I wanted to drink then walked away. When I asked he about a menu item she was short with me until I gave up and said I would just share what my boyfriend ordered. I have always had a good time here just ask for another server when you get Maggie cause she is terrible. Food is good and great portions.

Stopped in Saturday night for a drink and quick bite after work. Had the shrimp tempura appetizer and the tiger roll. The tempura was very good, but the tiger roll blew my mind. Made perfect with just enough rice, not thick, and a jalapeño dipping sauce to die for. The bartender/manager was very friendly and helpful. I'll be back soon.

Let me just say that I was going to eat here with a large party for a work outing.. We were excited to see the place, to drink, and have a good time... We were lured in by the good reviews here and the pictures.. Well when we got there it was probably the worst service I've ever experienced. The waitress that took our order was rude and gave us short answers, she seemed annoyed with us from the beginning. After we ordered and the food came out to be cooked (wasn't even on the hibachi grill yet) we alerted the cook that a person in our party had a shellfish allergy and her food couldn't be cooked on the grill at the same time. He started giving her dirty looks and started speaking Japanese and walked off for about 5 minutes. This made our party of people very uncomfortable.. The food was okay, the drinks were okay.. Overall, I would not go back here. Plenty of other places to go in the area!

Went for the first time and must say I enjoyed it. The place is beautiful and spacious. The drinks were strong and the dinner delightful. The staff was pleasant & helpful. Will definitely go back. The one thing that had me a bit overwhelmed was the menu ~ too many choices ~ much to review before ordering.

Dear lord, never again. I've ordered sushi a handful of times from here. Mostly because it's location is convenient to me. The quality of the sushi here is wildly inconsistent. It would be a disservice to not include that on more than one occasion I picked up my sushi for it to be warm because they do not keep it cool for you while you pick it up, and by no means is it the freshest sushi in town. Which is gross. Today was however the last straw for me. I made an order for pick up, against my better judgement. While on my way to pick up my lunch I had mishap on timing and called them to ask if they would place my order in the fridge, that I was still coming to get it but didn't want it to be hot when I got there, since it was sushi. The man on the phone tried to argue with me that the order was done and to "come get it now". I tried to explain again, that I was still coming to get the order, could not come right that minute but did not want it to get warm on the counter where they keep the orders. I received a phone call less than 15 minutes later from a different employee, telling me my order was done and that I could pick it up. I then explained that I had already called, spoken with an employee and asked for the order to be held in the fridge since I was on my way. I asked if the order was indeed in the fridge like I had asked. It was not. Not only that but the man started to lecture me on being timely on picking up my orders. Which I would like to point out I usually am, and tried to do the appropriate thing by calling them to give them a heads up. All in all I told them to cancel my order and that I would not be ordering from them again. Honestly, how hard was it for them to keep my order in the fridge so that my order containing 99% raw fish would not be warm. I feel like if they don't understand the basic's of proper refrigeration than they probably are lacking some serious food health and safety. Gross and rude. NEVER AGAIN.

Providence offers a lot of better sushi places. The decor, prices, and layout of the restaurant reminded me of Ichigo Ichie in Seekonk MA but not as nice. I expected the prices to be a little high, but nothing we ordered came out right. I had a ginger Manhattan and it tasted like straight up whiskey, I could not find a hint of ginger anywhere. My friend got a Fuji apple martini and for some reason it tasted like cranberry. The sushi its self was not wrapped well. Maybe the rice wasn't sticky enough but they fell apart as soon as we picked it up. One of the rolls just didn't taste right and one just wasn't what we ordered. We had to send back a roll because we ordered a crunchy spicy yellow tail, It was missing the spice and the crunch and just tasted like a mushy mess. The service was extremely awkward. As soon as we walked in, three people were at the front desk and it took them a while to greet us considering there were no other customers in that area. Finally after they all silently stared each other down to decide who would seat us, we were greeted. The wait staff walks around gawking at tables, its uncomfortable to have someone staring down you table every few minutes. The effort this place gave was pathetic, I would have rather gone to a locally owned sushi place that actually gave a damn about the service and quality of food they provide.

I've been here a couple of time, hibachi and sushi are good. Great atmosphere and huge restaurant. Parking is a little tight! Do not order their calamari, it was slice as thin as possible so it was over cook and very rubbery! I love their Mt fuji and Volcano bowl, its a great deal for a lot of ETOH!!!

I went here one day to meet an old friend for lunch. It was my first time eating sushi, and I thought it was very well done. Wrapped up in kelp, rice and garnished with peppers, onions and some cream cheese it was really tasty. We also ordered a plate of steak and chicken just in case the sushi was not to our liking. That was very good too, seasoned lightly with teriyaki and barbeque sauce. I would eat here again, absolutely I have to check out the hibachi next time. The only reason it's not a five star rating is because of the restroom facilities, there was a foul odor in there but it did not find it's way into the dining area. :)

Wait staff kind of weird, but I'm sure if I was waiting tables in japan they'd say the same about me. Food was amazing and prices fantastic. Free parking right there too, how can you beat that... Oh and the place is new, clean, and gorgeous.

First off I'd just like to say that my boyfriend and I absolutely love hibachi style Japanese food. Since moving to RI from NC we have tried many but have not been able to find a good one until now. We went here last Tuesday on our day off from work. It was around 3:30 and we were the only people in the restaurant. Of course, we chose to do the hibachi grille. We started with soup and salad which were both great. The ginger dressing was perfect and the soup had a lot of flavor. I had the chicken and shrimp and my boyfriend had steak and shrimp. Our chef, Baby as his name tag said, was a great cook and very funny. He prepared everything perfectly. The only negative would have to be that when you first walk in the waterfall is so loud that it's almost deafening. Otherwise, we are excited to go back and loved our experience.

I have been here plenty of times and every single time was just great. I do have to say their waitresses need to speak better English or some English at least, but the food has always been great and their hibachi is always delicious. Did I mention the place is gorgeous!!!!!

We tried Mt. Fuji because my family wanted Japanese and I'd saved a coupon I received in the mail. I checked out the reviews on Yelp and figured it was worth a try. We didn't have a terrible time but I'm giving it two stars because, like it says, I've experienced better. There are already some fantastic Japanese places around. When you walk in, you're immediately assaulted by an overabundance of water features. There's one outside which is pretty but in the foyer it's too much. It's very loud and the smell from what I assume is the chemicals they use to treat the water is overpowering. It eventually dissipated but the smell stuck with me after we sat down at our table. There's a lot of neon. I suppose the decor is supposed to be modern or trendy but I just thought it was weird. The service was ok. I had asked that my son's rice come with his soup instead of his meal. The soup came without the rice so I asked for it and he proceeded to explain and defend why he hadn't brought it out. Dude, I don't care. Just bring me my rice. The food was also mixed. We really liked the gyoza and vegetable tempura. My sushi roll was disappointing. It didn't taste fresh and the vegetables were wilted. We didn't try the hibachi but based on the cheers and screams coming from that side of the restaurant, it must be quite the experience. But I don't think we'll be back.

Will have to come back to review the food but I recently went in and had a few drinks. You can tell everything is this place is brand new because it is beautiful and absolutely immaculate. It gives the air of a more upscale place although after perusing the menu the prices seemed quite fair. Will update on food soon as it is down the street from my work.

Staff-A+ Service-A+ Decorations-B Mt. Fuji might not be exactly what you'd expect as a sushi and steak restaurant, what with all its' changing lights and hip-hop music. However, the atmosphere does not change the food at all, which was EXCELLENT! I just went there and my tummy's feeling preeeety satisfied! I got Yellowtail and Salmon sashimi, which was perfectly made, and along with that I ordered a Maki Roll B, which was a combination of California Roll, Shrimp, and Eel. It was all scrumptious and tastefully placed on a plate along with a few veggies. The eel was my favorite - it just about melted in your mouth and was drizzled in a gooey, slightly sweet sauce! After that we ordered a Maki Salmon Roll, which was tasty raw salmon wrapped in plain rice and sushi nori. It finished the meal off just right! The staff were all very nice and helpful! There were 2 people eagerly taking our order, and the service for the first course was really fast. Mt. Fuji, you have definitely secured yourself a returning customer!

Serivce is a 2/5 Both times I have come the servers have been very unpleasant. I don't expect you to be happy but I hope that you at least pretend you aren't dreading to be here. I only give a three because I would give the food 3/5 I have tried two different eel sushi and both were excellent but very small portions. the crispy duck should have been called the crispy aspagus. I was very disapointed and frankly upset. I enjoy the taste of duck and couldn't taste a single bite. small portion on that as well . the only thing that didn't have small portions was the ice cream. great green tea ice cream. Over all I would only recommend if you have a good budget, don't mind small portions and want sushi.

My first time coming here, I was very impressed. The food was delicious and I loved watching the chefs cook. They make it very fun! The service was pretty good, but they forgot to bring out a couple of things on our order. We didn't even get an appetizer that we ordered, but we were so enthralled by the entertainment, and so full by the time it was done, we didn't even realize it. Parking is tough too, not a lot of space. But that's Providence for you! The inside was really modern and had a nice ambiance about it. I was with a group of girls when I went, I will have to go back with my husband for sure!

Very pretty restaraunt and the Gong performance for my friends birthday was cool, because we had a fun crowd. But the sushi I ordered was eh and I tried some of my friends hibachi food and I was all set. The soup had NO taste and the salad was wayyy too ginger ish. I like Ichigo better food wise.

Went on a Monday night for my sons birthday. I called ahead but they said a reservation wasn't necessary. Great food, great portions. Service was really good and our chef- Baby- was very entertaining. The 15% happy hour discount and 50% off kids meals made the experience even better. We will definitely come back here for hibachi, super pleased with our experience.

I had sashimi and sushi rolls here with a friend. Some quibbles: 1. The service was attentive, although the sushi orders took a long time to come out (over 20 minutes, and only there were only a couple other tables in the sushi side of the restaurant with 2 sushi chefs). 2. The fish itself was a little above average for other sushi restaurants in the area, but for $24 for the sashimi platter, I should NOT be served a fake crab stick that is cut in half and called 2 pieces of kani. (I HATE that!!! Seriously though I can't single this place out b/c every single sushi restaurant I've been to in RI does this to improve their margin). 3. Plain jasmine rice instead of prepared sushi rice served with sashimi?!!! 4. The pseudo clubby lighting a la strip club.... the gemini zodiac mermaids above the bar....uh, no...... Anyway, I'm still waiting for a really good sushi restaurant in RI. I'm griping, but honestly, all in all this place isn't a bad choice for raw fish in the area since its so new that they're aiming to please and other sushi restaurants around town have gotten lazy.

Sadly, this place was by far my greatest disappointment in Providence. Visually, it's stunning. Cascading waterfalls, futuristic lighting, marble tables - gorgeous. Unfortunately the aesthetically pleasing atmosphere doesn't make up for their horrible service. I arrived here for dinner around 8:30pm with two friends, we received a warm welcome and were seated immediately. The place was very loud and overwhelming. There were groups of people gathered around hibachi stations cheering and screaming - which is all in good fun. The chef, however, had the guests stand up and hold their mouths open as he proceeded to squirt liquid into their mouths (over the grill with cooking food) from 3 feet away - very unsanitary. The drinks were pretty good - the problem was we waited 25 minutes before we received them. The service was extremely slow, our order was taken and the chef didn't come to our hibachi station for 55 minutes. Where was the waitress you ask? We have no idea. Our drinks had been empty for quite sometime and we were starving. We asked several times how much longer we had to wait and were told "Soon! Soon!" followed by running away into the crowd of people banging on a gong in the middle of the dining area. Of course we asked to speak to the manager about the situation. She was a bit unsteady and kept shaking her head. She told us that someone would be right over to cook for us. Our chef arrives and pulls out a rubber chicken, where he then proceeds to squish out an egg and plop it onto the hott grill with lots of oil and flames that nearly singed our eyebrows. The chef pulled out an action figure and removed it's pants - he squirted the oil onto the grill from the figures genitals - horrifying! As we started to eat (after being seated for 2 hours), our waitress suddenly appears and begins to explain the situation of why it took so long. She told us that she was so busy and she couldn't handle her job. We told her that we just started eating and wanted to enjoy our meal now. After that comment, she went into a fit of rage and started demanding we tell her manager that she was not at fault for our dissatisfaction. She continued to argue with us for several minutes before finally giving up and going to take another hungry table's order. The manager was oh-so-gracious and took $5 off our bill total to compensate for our very unsatisfactory dining experience. This was by far my biggest disappointment. I had such high hopes for a place that seemed to be so cutting-edge and located on Federal Hill in Providence. I hope they learn to step up their game and reach their true potential!

THIS PLACE I AMAZING. & by amazing I mean the sushi. I tried the hibachi and was not a fan AT ALL. It was too heavy on the condiments although the cooks are hilarious and will be sure to entertain you. I love coming here for the sushi, and scorpion bowls. As my fellow Yelper, Kel S, had mentioned, the staff here can be a bitt TOO much. They are constantly coming to the table to see if you need anything and if everything is okay. That's great, to an extent. Can I breathe a little please? They were so friendly though. However, it was a bit hard to communicate with the staff due to language barriers - but we got it down nonetheless! ;) My only dissapointment - When the restaurant first opened I came here to eat the sushi special rolls. And each plate had a special design that went with it. I understand it takes time-but it's a special plate, and I'm paying extra for it - so yes, I would like a beautiful design on my plate. Not too much to ask for I don't think. First time I got "The First Kiss Roll" it was brough out in this beautiful heart shape. When I asked the girl what other fun plates they had she said they no longer did that. Bummer. The sushi tastes sooooo yummy. I'm not a fan of wasabi so I can't say if it was good or not (noticed some yelpers not being too keen on their wasabi) I will continue to come back. Only for the sushi, & i'll keep recommending people here.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice now. Once for the Hibachi, and once for the general seating. We have yet to be disappointed. The Hibachi experience was top notch, and our chef was delightful and entertaining. The shooting sake in our mouths was a bit unexpected and meant for a staggering, giggling walk home, but it was worth it. The general menu is also fantastic. My boyfriend ordered a dinner bento box, which, unlike what is pictured, is a massive plate with a selection of meat, tempura, and California roll sushi served with rice, salad, and Miso soup. I was equally wow'd with my sushi choice: The RI Roll. I'm not sure how they did it, but it went from raw tuna to blacked salmon with varying degrees of searing in between with eel, panko, and avocado inside. That, coupled with the caviar and sauces actually increased the heat factor and flavor palette from left to right. I didn't bother touching it with wasabi or ginger when it was already sitting in a delicious mix of eel sauce. I also tried the vegetable roll, which was, well, a vegetable roll, and the Mexican roll, which was spicy salmon with avocado, tasty, but extremely overshadowed by their gourmet roll. The prices are moderate, with the RI Roll clocking in at $13, but with the service and the presentation of the dish as well as the quality of ingredients, it was well worth the price. As others mentioned, the decor is very modern and upscale, and the service was attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be going back for a 3rd visit soon!

The fish is always fresh and tasty. Huge chunks for the sashimi. Large selection of creative and tasty rolls. Delicious!

I have been a frequent customer of Mt. Fuji and I have always loved it. The food is great. I always sit at the sushi bar and the gentlemen there are always very polite and nice. The tango roll is something I rave about. It's one of my all time favorite sushi rolls. Although I may love their sushi, I don't think I will ever be a returning customer after dining there this evening. Our server Ginny was very sweet and attentive. But at 5 of 11, 3 different servers came up to us to let us know the kitchen was closing, and asked if they could box up our food. At this time, all of the servers that were working had put their coats on. One came over to run my credit card, while wearing their coat, and immediately after, all of the staff except the bartender and the men behind the sushi bar left. Their kitchen closed at 11pm, and we walked out the door at 11:10. As someone who works in the service industry as a waitress, I know how frustrating it can be to have to wait a very long time for the last customers to leave, but we in no way over stayed our welcome, and we were rudely rushed out. Also, the bartender did not know how to make a dirty gin martini. So to end this review I say a nice thumbs up to the gentlemen making delicious sushi, and a big huge thumbs down to a staff who rushes you out, takes your check wearing their coat, and leaves before you. And thumbs down to the bartender who doesn't know how to make en elementary cocktail. It's a shame I won't be coming back.

2 stars only because my husband was happy with his bento box. I ordered sashimi smoked salmon (salty) but good portion, yellowtail sashimi (which I returned because it was frozen inside, they brought me another and it was also frozen so I sent it back completely), and tiger roll with jalepeno (good but wishing it was actually spicy). Garden salad is overdressed and contains raisins (which is rare). Rice on sushi was minimal, which I liked. Service is good, attentive waiters. Decor is cheap and loud, maybe they draw in a club crowd? A bit too dark of a place for me. When leaving around 7:30pm I noticed the hibachi room was packed so I will try their hibachi next time, but no more sushi here for me.

I have been waiting to try this place since it opened and I finally got around to it. First things first.. the decor and design. WONDERFULLY done! The LED or LCD ( I have no clue) lights on the bar are awesome. Not to mention this place looks so cool from the outside at night time. Its clean, fun and not your typical stiff asian restaurant. I went there after work today for a glass of Riesling and a California Roll. Both pretty easy to make so I can't really rave about the amazing food...yet. However, the wine was cheap $6 a glass ( a nice, heavy pour) and the sushi was fresh and delivered quickly. I must go back to try an actual entree but my first impression was surely not a let down! I will be backk

I've given Mt. Fuji two chances now - I will not return. The first time was in December with my boyfriend and his father. We had hibachi and ordered sushi. My boyfriend and I both got very sick from the tuna sashimi the next morning (his father did not eat any sushi). Recently, I ordered take out on a lunch break with two girlfriends - we placed the order before we left our office and after standing at the entrance for over 30 minutes, we finally received our take out. We let them know we were on our lunch break and that we needed to get back to our office, that was why we called in advance. Lunch service was not busy at all and there were 4 men making the sushi. There is definitely a language barrier as well - ordering over the phone took 5+ minutes for 6 simple rolls. We will not return to Mt. Fuji - I'd like to try Nami on the Hill instead.

Simply amazing. This place opened a couple weeks ago prior our visit and there was already good word on the street about it. My buds and I gave a try for lunch and we're quite impressed. To start off the place is just gorgeous. It has great illumination and the overall looks are just pretty modern and nicely designed. We made a visit for lunch time and we went with the Hibachi option. The chef we had was very skilled and super fun. It was such a performance by him I was mesmerized. We got sake made into our dishes and even poured at us! (Literally) The portions on the food might look minimal, but trust me, its plenty to fill you up nicely. The meat was really good and cooked accordingly, and the sushi we tried was pretty fresh and tasty. There's also a good selection and variety of drinks from cocktails and even beers. As for the service, it's outstanding! Greeted right in and always on the watch for whatever we needed. The only thing was that the parking was a little too tight and in an weird position right off from the street, but that does not get in the way of great service, incredible food, and a beautiful environment. This place was so much fun for our lunch adventure, and I'm pretty sure at night it would be an even better, more lively and even flashier experience. Give it a go. It's worth your craving for some cool Japanese food!

This is definitely some of the best sushi I have ever had, the hibachi is delicious and fun, and the other grilled food is amazing. Unfortunately the waitstaff borders on abysmal. The waitress on a recent visit barely spoke English and had a barely intelligible accent, and needed several reminders to refill our water. She had to send the bartender over to understand my friend's fairly simple drink request. I love going there for the food, but the service requires a fair bit of my patience.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Had reservations for 8:30, the hibachi chef didn't get to our table until 10:30 and then messed up the order!!! But the food was ok. Definitely never going back,

The ambiance at this place is a little cheese-ola, but the sushi was good. The prices are average. As we went soon after it opened, the servers were a bit eager. Although it was nice to always have someone when you needed something, they may relax a little on this, as it could be a bit "much". They do have parking. I might try it for lunch sometime, rather than dinner.

Finally get to try Mt Fuji since I always see it right near the highway entrance at Federal Hill. The decor is top notch throughout. The entrance has a great water feature where the walls leading to the inside entrance door, has a waterfall on either side and goes drains below the floor, where it is transparent. It is quite the entrance. Once inside, you think you stepped into a hip club with neon lighting, huge bar and clubby music. But all fused together quite well. The sushi is amazingly fresh. I ordered the 15 piece sush and sashimi combo. It was excellent. The pieces of raw fish was varied and fresh. The presentation had plenty of crushed ice to keep the sushi cold and tiered two levels high with some neon lighting embedded in the ice. I wish I took a picture thinking back... The service was quick and professional. Will definitely be back for sushi or the Hibachi grill.

Just okay. We wanted take out for the iffice. Online ordering didn't work. Calling in the order was frustrating because they kept tell me to place my order online. We received the order and amazingly it was correct. However, the sushi was just okay. We got shogun roll, chirasi, shrimp teriyaki bento box. The Fluke and himachi had a fishy taste to them. This is the second time we've tried it and the second time we've had the same result. Won't try again.

The smell of air fresheners is overwhelming to the point of being able to taste it which makes it hard to eat here. Other than that the decor is beautiful if you like that style. The sushi was very good although I found something in it. The manager and I determined that it was a piece of the glove the sushi guy was wearing. Shy tried to give me 20% off one roll I ate which amounted to $2.30 on a $39 lunch. I told them to take the $13 roll completely off and they did without blinking. Overall, is probably go again and give it another shot because the sushi was pretty good. I'll be sure talk with the manager about the air freshener smell when/if I return.. 4/8/13 So after some time I'm upgrading my three stars to a four star. I've been here few times since my first visit and the sushi is great..

Went here a few days ago. The decor was interesting but not unpleasant. Reminds me of Vegas. We sat down for what seemed like 10+ minutes and recieved absolutely NO SERVICE. No one greeted our table. The servers looked at us and just walked on to the table sitting right behind us. (including us 2 there are a total of 7 customers in the place I might add.) Since we thought it was silly that we might have to instruct our servers during the meal, and if this simple thing is being done so very very wrong we didn't want to see what might happen next. So we walked out. No one said a word to us as we walked out calmly and I was in no way acting angry. The host decided this was a good time to disappear. There are no excuses for this level of incompetence. And if their basic target of hospitality is being missed, I do not expect hygiene or food quality to be very high on their list of priorities. TL;DR - Avoid Mt. Fuji. Save yourself the trouble.

My husband and I have frequented Mt. Fuji quite a bit, mostly due to its proximity to our off Broadway residence and because certain rolls have been consistently good. Our favorite rolls are the Shogun (lobster and spicy, crunchy salmon) and the NY-CT roll (shrimp tempura and spicy tuna). I love spider rolls and sweet potato rolls almost anywhere, but some of the other special rolls like the Tiger roll (if I remember correctly, with its jalapeno flavor) were a miss. We ordered the udon noodle soup once and thought it was rather bland and mediocre. As far as the decor, I find it a bit too trendy and not classy, almost reminiscent of a club. I suppose this fits in at Federal Hill. Mt.Fuji has a happy hour from 4:30-6 (or 6:30pm), offering 15% off the rolls, which makes sushi grubbin' a little more affordable, but hey, consuming sushi on an empty stomach will make you broke anywhere ;) Our service had been consistently good except one poignant dining experience when the waitress spilled soup all over my brother's brand new white coat (that he just received from his medical school white coat ceremony an hour prior). We have never tried the hibachi, however, but the grill section of the restaurant does get packed with swarms on evenings or weekends.

This review is based on the sushi at Mt. Fuji First, they get a star for the trendy upscale decor. They get a second star for attentiveness. Fail #1 The wasabi was so weak you can swallow a spoonful and not taste anything. We asked for extra wasabi three more times. One batch finally had a kick, but it just wasn't consistent. You can't serve sushi if you can't prep wasabi properly. Fail #2 The quality of the fish and rolls left much to be desired. I love sushi rolls with raw fish, these were clearly not fresh or high quality. We had 4 different rolls, 2 were okay, the other 2 were disappointing in taste and texture. The salmon sashimi didn't look like they were cut properly. Fail #3 They delivered the wrong rolls. They didn't tell us till we placed another order for something else and then they realized we'd figured it out. Fail #4 Weak drinks. There was barely any wine in my sangria or alcohol in my cosmo. This place is overpriced for low quality sushi. I would try the hibachi, but there's better places for good, satisfying sushi.

My first (as well as my last) time eating here was probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. There wasn't anything that was incredibly horrible, but nothing was good either. The fried calamari appetizer was the worst I've ever tasted (I fear it wasn't even calamari!). The waitress seemed really annoyed of us for no apparent reason. Essentially, the food and service was lousy.

Ah! This place is very, very nicely decorated, but after that it pretty much is mediocre to every other Hibachi place that I've been to. Even down to the same lame jokes and entertainment. If you've never been to a Hibachi place than this might be the best one around, but it's nothing special if you've been to one before.

    (3)
  • Maura C.

I have to admit that this was my first real hibachi experience. I have had hibachi food many times, but have never witnessed the show. I was skeptical of this place from the first time I drove by the place with their flashing lights. I thought I'd give it a try and see what the craze was all about. First of all you walk in through a waterfall on either side of you over a glass floor with lights underneath. Inside the bar, lights, walls, just about everything flashes in changing colors. Its like a sensory overload. Luckily you are not thrown right into the room of hibachi grills... but we will get to why later. I was waiting for a few friends and ordered a cocktail. I was surprised to see some more sophisticated options on the menu aside from mai tai's and scorpion bowls. The server, unfortunately didn't really know how to make the drink that I ordered so I am not sure it was all it was intended to be. We waited a bit longer than we expected due to a lack of communication between hosts working the stand. The menu had lots of good options but we decided to go all out and order hibachi to see the 'show'. We started with a crunchy spicy tuna roll, salad with ginger dressing, and clear soup. I would have to say the sushi was OK, and the others underwhelming. Once the show began we got to witness the chef haphazardly prepare our dishes while attempting to entertain us with sake squirts, fire balls, a chicken laying an egg, and a little statue that 'peed' oil or sake on to the grill. Once we got through all that, we received our food in the order it was cooked.. first rice, then protein, then vegetables. So unless you enjoy eating each component of a meal separately, waiting results in some cold rice or beef. I found the sauces to be overly sweet and cornstarch laden. Basically, I think the whole experience was wasted on me because I guess I just don't enjoy having my eyebrows burned or getting sake squirt at me, or having food thrown at my face. There were plenty of groups there that enjoyed every second of it while I was just left feeling as if the food was pretty mediocre stir fry for the cost. I definitely think its a super flashy special event type of place for groups looking for a bit of entertainment while playing with their food.

The hibachi was decent. Didn't venture any sushi after reading the reviews here! The service was ok....a little akward, trying to take my salad bowl as I'm finishing my last bite. I ordered the noodles, didn't get them. There are other hibachi's in the area with better food. Only went because of a gift card.

I have been to Mt Fuji a few times and I definitely have to say my first experience was the best. Definitely due to our hibachi chef "Sexy Andy" as his name tag stated. He was highly entertaining and funny as you can tell by his tag ! The food was great. Typical hibachi prices. The decor is fantastic, inside and out. Last timemy boyfriend and I went though, the experience was not as great, the other patrons at the table seemed extremely dull, therefore the chef seemed to take que from that and was also extremely dull, just going through the motions, rather than entertaining. We have yet to get "sexy Andy" as a chef and when we had asked for him again he wasn't working, not sure if he still works there, have not seen him. As long as you get a good chef and have some fun people at your table it's a definitely fun experience. Will be going back.

I went to Mt. Fuji for an anniversary dinner with my boyfriend. I have been to this restaurant before and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. Our service and food was great. However, after our chef cooked our meal he began to clean the grill. He must have used the tool too aggressively resulting in hot oil/water being shot into the faces of my date and I. Immediately afterwards our chef and our tablemates (who we did not know) were very concerned and questioned if we were okay. Not wanting to make a scene, I politely expressed that we were fine and I would like some ice to tend to the blistering burn that was under my eye. The chef passed on my request for ice to our waitress and continued cautiously cleaning the grill. I was never brought ice, so after 10 minutes I asked our waitress to speak to manager. Our waitress summoned the manager who I politely explained the situation to. After explaining the situation, she sincerely apologized, and handed me a burn gel packet (I still was not brought ice). She said "If your face does not get better by tomorrow, come back, we have insurance for this kind of stuff". She then gave us our check, which I believed they were going to take care of because of the situation, when I realized she gave us 15% off MY DISH ONLY. So on our $100 check, she discounted us $3 for the excruciating pain that her chef put me in. On our way out, the manager handed me the restaurant business card and told me to call if my burn got any worse. I am completely disgusted with the way the manager handled this serious situation, especially with the minuscule compensation we were given. It took all of my self control to not take out my anger on the manager, and to pay $100 for a dinner in which I was leaving with a BLISTERING FACE. My friends, family and coworkers will never be going back to this restaurant again. I advise you try out one of the many other restaurants in the area which care about their customers. If I could give this restaurant a rating of 0 stars I would.

Hooray for Mt. Fuji! This is one place where I seem to always order the same thing because I enjoy it so much-- the chicken hibachi dinner. It's a great place to go with friends for a bit o entertainment with dinner. Plenty of food here, so come hungry or prepare to leave with enough for lunch the next day. I have to say the one thing about this place that gets me a little, but just a little, is it's unpredictable. The first few times I came here, it was very quiet, even on Saturday, and then suddenly- boom! Busy and loud as anything. Next time, we had the place to ourselves again. Don't know what I'd suggest for that, but never hurts to make a reservation, if for no other reason to get a feel for how busy (noisy) it might be.

This isn't your grandmother's hibachi place. I could picture the cast of Jersey Shore here, fist pumping under a neon glow of sonic club hits, their food acrobatically fabricated by the chef ringleader of this food circus. They play all your favorite hits: the onion volcano, egg-juggling, saki-fights, flying shrimp, and of course - a magic birthday candle complete with ceremonial drumming. But what if you don't like your food cooked? The sushi side of the menu was equally stacked, most ostentatiously is the "Love Boat for two" - which of course my friend got. A giant wooden sailboat, overloaded with your own personal sushi buffet of house specialties. It really is meant for two (or more) unless you're a pro competitive eater. From a vegetarian standpoint, it was just ok - the ginger sauce made the hibachi vegetables much better, but the fried rice was nothing special. The tofu was actually the best part - soft and an almost melt-in-your-mouth sort of lusciousness. The meat-eaters in the group seemed very satisfied but they did comment that the various preparations were uneven, inconsistent. It really is all about the show here. And the service. And the lights. And the free parking lot (in Federal Hill???).

Full disclosure: I have been a waitress now in a high volume restuarant for four years. I am not overly critical of places- rather I always give the waiters/the place the benefit of the doubt and I am sometimes too generous. I was meeting 8-9 people for dinner at 8pm on a Friday evening. I already knew this spelled disaster, but it was for a birthday so I was required to attend. When 4 of the party arrived at 8, we waited in the front for the rest of the group. The place itself is very vibrant- it is clearly in an ideal location, with young adults strewn all over Federal Hill. The crowd was indeed young, mid-20's, and very loud. When the rest of our party arrived, we were told we could not sit until the full 10 people arrived. One of us was going to be super late, so we explained this to them. They said okay, and told us the table would be ready in ten minutes. An hour and twenty minutes later, we were (finally) sat at our hibachi table. The waitress was not very pleasant- she seemed annoyed with us to start with. Look- I understand it is a busy Friday night, but we have been nothing but polite, and we are paying customers. We ordered drinks and food, and were served our soup and salad. The soup was cold, which was frustrating after waiting an hour just to sit down. Management kindly got the entire table new, hot(ter) soup. Then, something strange happened. The waitress had the drink tray on the hibachi table and when she picked it up to leave, a good portion of the tray had burned on the table! Like I said- I am not one to complain, since I do work in the business I understand things get hectic. But, this was really foul. The smell was horrible, and it was wafting over to the nearby tables. We again told management, and they said someone would be over to clean it up. No one did come to clean it up until the chef got there to cook our food. The chef was funny and entertaining, the food was okay, and they did their traditional birthday dance celebration. We did end up having a good time. But after that nightmarish experience, I doubt any of us will be back.

Decided to try mt. Fuji last night because of a coupon we had in the mail for a decent amount off. I was not disappointed. We went just for sushi and I was pleased. However as far as sushi goes I still prefer places such as Sakura for freshness and consistency. The presentations and ambiance in the restaurant was a plus as well. Also delicious and reasonably priced cocktails. I am not a Mai tai drinker but my waitress brought it as a mistake I sipped it thinking it was mine and it was delicious and fruity. My drink I ordered, the Japanese sangria, was also very enjoyable. I think next time we are going to try this place for hibachi considering the food looked good and the laughs and applause from the hibachi seemed like a good time. Ill be back.

Took my sister in law to be there for lunch with all the bridesmaids and I have never been more embarrassed in my life! Everyone split the bill and only two people paid with a card so the tip was left in cash to the waiter. As we were in the parking lot talking, one of the front for hostess girls comes outside to tell us we didn't leave a tip!! She didn't see a tip left on the two card receipts she had in her hand because we left it with the waiter in CASH!!! I will NEVER EVER go to that restaurant again!!

I don't know if the bright and shiny has rubbbed off this place for me, or if they are cutting corners with their food. Okay, I'm pretty sure they are cutting corners. For instance, their hideous menu was amended using cut and paste method. My sushi looked sad and tasted bland. I also think it should be illegal to call white fish imitations "lobster" or "crab". My fiance's hibachi was amazing, however. Our waitress was sweet and attentive, and the food was alright, but it was nowhere near the awesome experience we've had there before.

Me and my girlfriend went here a few weeks ago for an early dinner. Our server was very pleasant and our food was delicious. The layout of this restaurant is very spacious and it is also very clean. They have a lot of specials on their menu but be careful when ordering an alcoholic beverage because the scorpion bowl we had did not have a lot of alcohol in it. We had a really good experience though and we would definitely come back again.

This place is pretty sweet and def enjoy coming here for some sushi or some grilled items. The drink menu is also pretty decent. I love the decor for the waterfall flowing down the walls outside to the man made river you have to walk over via small bridge as you enter. The inside reminds me of stepping into the future and it works well for this trendy sushi spot. I can honestly say I've never been disappointed here. The food is consistent and fresh. There are a few other places in the city for sushi that are on par with this place. My only complaint is once the sushi didn't taste right and they had no problem making me some new rolls with a fresh cut of fish. The host is always pleasant and nice as for the bartenders and wait staff. It's def a little pricey here but you get what you pay for in quality and the overall experience. Check this place out you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I went for sushi and hibachi. The sushi was actually pretty good but the hibachi was the worst....I have been to other places were we had a much better time with the hibachi show but once we started eating our dinner and my husband found a staple AND hair in his food that is what ruined it!! We were both upset and told our waiter right away. He took it from my husband and brought the manager over to us. She was so rude like as if we did something wrong! First she questioned us as if she didn't believe that my husband had just chewed on a staple! She started speaking another language to the waiter right in front of us and said well I will take his plate off the bill but that most have happened because he got the seafood. Which to me it doesn't matter what you order that shouldn't be in your food! I wanted my dinner off the bill as well since I refused to eat mine after that. She refused to take them both off and said well I'm taking his off which is the most expensive one but I'm not taking yours off too! This is the worst place ever and I would never ever go back here after this!

I give this place 1 star because of the terrible service here. I've eaten here one other time and it was still terrible. The waitress didn't even really know english and overrall the communication wasn't so great. I couldn't get through to her that I didn't like tobiko in my rolls and I have an allergy to shellfish. We waited 15 mins to get our cocktails. The appetizer came out before the drinks. She forgot my miso soup and when I finally receive it. It was luke warm. Smh I will not be coming to mt fuji again

This is a great place for everyone from families, friends, or couples. The key to having a great time is having a larger group. There is nothing worse then being sat with a group of duds. It definitely effects the entertainment value. The hibachi is always good. If hibachi isn't your thing their sushi is great too. Try the tiger roll if your not a raw fish person, you won't be disappointed. All in all the food, atmosphere, and experience is always worth the trip to Mt. Fuji!

Went there for the first time last night and had a great experience! The decor is incredible first off, relaxing atmosphere...The portions are huge and very tasty....I had the filet mignon and calamari combo, the calamari was delicious seasoned to perfection and the filet was very tender.....the sushi is very good too. I will be definetly be returning and recommend to try it!!

Who wouldn't love a restaurant on Federal Hill with parking, a beautiful fountain, great lighting and amazing food? I went a day or 2 after they opened and it was wonderful. Sipped a delicious Ginger Manhattan while being entertained by our Hibachi chef who had a great sense of humor. I've since gotten take out for lunch twice and haven't been disappointed yet.

I think the taste of the food is not authentic compared to other Japanese restaurant like Haruki at Wayland square. I had my lunch there today, ordered dragon roll and hibachi filet mignon which came with fried rice and miso soup. The price is cheaper than others, but the food tasted more like sushi in Chinese buffet. However, servers there were friendly and helpful. Overall, if you are looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant, I do not recommend. But if you want to save some money, go there between 4:30-6:30 pm everyday, it's a happy hour, you will get 15% discount.

AMAZING restaurant. Aside from the unique, modern atmosphere it is all about the food and the service there. It is by far the best hibachi that I've had in the area. The waitstaff was outstanding and very knowledgeable about the menu. The hibachi chef was friendly, funny and put on one of the most entertaining performances I've seen. I would highly recommend this for a night out on the town but even more so for a phenomenal lunch/dinner.

I've been here twice. Once for a Hibachi lunch and once for sushi. The hibachi was fun and the food was good. I'd probably go again. The second time was for sushi. The sushi was just okay. If you want something inexpensive near Federal Hill, it's ok.

I really love the atmosphere of this place. It's not the usual sophisticated or barely austere but serious Japanese decoration but something more out of a nice urban area like Boston or Connecticut: it's got great lighting, great young, urban ambience while being sophisticated and really good food.. I can't call it the best Japanese food in Rhode Island. Not while Haruki still lives! or the small place on the East Side (can never remember it's name) but it's pretty darn good and the menu has a nice enough variety. The staff is simply oustanding in my opinion. I'm committed to my girl of course but she even knows I go out with other women at times as JUST a date and each new one I take, the staff not only remembers me but never embarrasses me by indicating I'm with a new one quite a bit...and they knew me by sight by the second time I went there. Hey! I hang with cool women and we both tend to really get along with and make waitstaff comfortable if not cool about us. I'd go here for a first, second or any date, including just dinner, a birthday or a special occassion. The drinks are great, the decoration excellent, the staff amazing and frankly, it's got me hooked on a hip night out for asian food. One small drawback is its location: its right off a busy street with very little parking. So what! I've never had a problem getting parking anyway. I say don't wait to try this new, fun gem of a nice place.

Nothing really wow-ed me about this place. The sushi was okay! My entree was good (salmon teriyaki) but overall I wasn't taken back by anything. Better places for sushi. But it's really nice. A good place to have a dinner party.. Yup!

Where do i begin with this place?! Three waiters came to ask us what we wanted to drink and they are all talking to each other but still... a loss of communication.. then the waitress "Paris" never brought me my drink. I didnt see her and i waited like 10 minutes for my drink.. the guy at the bar dumped it and made me a new drink.. it was my birthday that day and my bf asked for them to sing for me.. the lady walks up to the table and asks whos birthday it was and ruined the surprise.. thanks Paris! we went back a second time, thinking maybe it was a bad day.. 1st they advertise that the kids dinner comes with a shrimp appetizer.. than when i ordered "Paris" said it didnt.. which makes no sense.. doesnt say that in the menu.. my bf asked for limes.. he waited like for half the time we were there.. paris never brought it.. he just got up to get it him self.. my bf order a dragon sushi amd asked Paris, does it look like that? She said yes.. she drops it off and my bf was not satisfied.. very simple compared to the pic.. he told Paris that wasnt what the picture was and wanted it like the pic.. well she told him to wait and never came back...seriously... never going back here again.. they need new waitresses and waiters.. i use to love this place...

Stopped in this evening with my wife, at the bar for some hors d'oerves. What a magnificent looking restaurant, not really prepared for the detail of the decor. Ordered a drink from a lovely smiling bartender, she then ordered us a few of their appetizers, just great. will have to go back for dinner, best looking place in town, no doubt. Mike

the rolls are very intricate and tasty! they look beautiful everytime! the atmosphere is perfect for a night out or just a casual dinner. flashy colors but not too loud like others can be. and they are open late! and happy to see you even if it is late (which I find to be a dying thing) the bar is nice and the bartenders are friendly, the hibachi side is full of life everyones always excited. the food is great, good portions, right price. the only down side is the rice, its a little too much on the sauce. other than that I love this place it has become my go to spot for hibachi and sushi!

My fiance and I went here for a light sushi dinner. First thing we noticed was that the lobby had a water display which, while very nice to look at, made the lobby smell a bit like a zoo. They might want to put something in the water to keep it fresh. The interior was very nice. A modern, swanky feel. Lots of alternating colored lights. It bothered us a bit that the lights were not synchronized, but that may have been our anal sides talking :) We sat on the general dining side (not the hibachi side). We could hear lots of shouting from the hibachi side, so I took that to mean that the hibachi chefs were doing a good job :) Our server was attentive and friendly. We did not order alcohol, but the drinks we saw going by looked good. We both ordered special rolls. I ordered a Wild Mango Roll (spicy crunchy lobster and avocado, topped with sliced mango, mango sauce and spicy mayo) and Fiance ordered the First Kiss Roll (half the roll was salmon on top of shrimp tempura, and the other half was tuna on top of eel and avocado, both with wasabi mayo and honey miso). Both the orders were delicious! They were brought out in a timely manner, and we got 11 pieces each. My order was $14, his was $15; not bad, considering that we were expecting 8 pieces based on pictures in the menu. Overall, a good experience. Certainly not the best, but I've been to much worse. We will probably go back and try the hibachi or lunch some day.

Love it! We've gone three times now and the sushi is excellent. The waterfall is noisy when people open the door to come in or to leave, but otherwise, it's excellent. The prices are very good for the product. Always go for lunch. Excellent.

I wasn't sure what to think reading the other reviews. The food was great though, especially sushi. The staff was pretty nice. There seems to be a bit of a cultural barrier for some but overall we had a great experience. They have 15% off happy hour even on the weekends. We had hibachi chicken and steak, both were very good. We'll be back!

Hot, swanky bar with good drinks and a variety of Japanese cuisine, a good place for couples, or a group of friends for a night out. Habachi is available in a separate room, the shows in there can occasionally be heard from the bar/lounge and sounded pretty exciting! My only problem was the difficulty in finding parking and that it seemed pretty dead for a Friday night, then again it was raining and the location is right off the highway. Either way, it is a decent choice for great Japanese Cuisine in nice surroundings.

My wife and I have been checking out Japanese hibachi places in the area since they seem to be multiplying rapidly over the last year or so. The ambiance, decor and crowd were pretty much what I expected based on the reviews here on Yelp but I had markedly different experiences with the food and service. I was surprised at how quickly we were seated for a Friday night around 7pm, perhaps we were early for the night crowds, but I'm not complaining. After that initial surprise things slowed down badly. It took 10-15 minutes before a waiter, who didn't seem to think he should be covering our table, took our drink order. And another 10-15 minutes before those drinks got to us (there was nothing going on at the bar so I have no idea what the holdup was). Our food orders went more smoothly, my sashimi appetizer was delicious and the hibachi chef arrived promptly. Here's where things went seriously downhill. The rice was undercooked and chewy/gritty (I can't remember ever running into this at a Japanese restaurant). Our chef couldn't keep track of who ordered their steak's how. So I had to step in and remind him that mine was to be cooked "medium rare" after he served 2 other people at our table "medium rare" and continued to cook mine. I got it medium, oh well. And worse, he took a sirloin steak from the side, sliced it up and mixed with with all the filet mignon steak remaining (mine and 2 others). Problem was that nobody left had ordered sirloin so it was filler!! The couple next to us called him on it and he hid behind language difficulties. They complained up a storm to the manager and I think they got a partial comp (after much adieu). On top of all that we found our servings to be much smaller than other places of comparable price. Usually we have enough for another meal the next day out of our leftovers. And finally, when we asked for our check, that took another 10-15 minutes (sensing a theme here?). Heck we got out of there AFTER the couple that was complaining about their meal! Maybe we just hit it on a bad night, had a bad hibachi chef, maybe they were understaffed, I don't know. The couple that put up a fuss mentioned that they've been there more than a dozen times and never had these kinds of problems. Go figure. The decor and look and feel were pretty cool. And the location right near Federal Hill is nice (we went for a walk and stopped at Cassarino's bar on our way out). That said, we won't be going back. Not worth the extra effort considering there are plenty of better hibachi places around.
