A neighborhood Chinese spot, I grew up on. Their food is well made and never tasted stale unlike some other places. I've tried many Chinese takeout spots, but this one always seems to be the best. The flavors are on point and grabbing a quick bite never ends in disappointment. I love the sticky wings! The best in town.

Really good Chinese food here, I been coming to this restaurant for about 6 or 7 years now. Everything I have had is super fresh and made to order. When you order general tso the meat is actually white, it chicken ! Only thing is they don't accept credit cards so bring cash

Note to the bald faced liar at the register: 1. You said you can make me the dish I was craving before I drove over. I ordered it, paid, and then you gave me the wrong thing and started arguing w me when I told you it was wrong. If you can't or won't make what I want, be upfront and just say so. 2. Regular broccoli is not the same as Chinese broccoli just as rice vermicelli is not the same as chow fun. I know that, you know that, although you pretended not to know that. 3. I asked you to not put MSG in my meal. You put MSG in the meal I didn't order. 4. I'm Asian. I know the difference. Give me a break. I can't stand it when businesses can't admit their own error and push the blame on to the patron, and it's even worse when they simply don't give a crap.

My wife and I used to get take out from this restaurant 20+ years ago, when we lived close by, before we were married, in our wreckless youth. Since then I've been back twice, for a little change of pace from our normal chinese restaurant, which is just "meh", but really convenient. This place has still got it - everything we order is always outstanding. Hot, delicious, and plentiful! Prices are reasonable, too! The dining room is pretty basic, if not downright dingy, but everything seems to be CLEAN though. Stick to take out, but DO try it - you'll be very glad that you did. Also note - NO CREDIT CARDS. As of my visit on 1/13/13 they clearly did not accept any credit cards. There were several signs up around the front counter to this effect.

Pleasantly surprised as this is the closest Chinese place to my house and its pretty good. The guy on the phone will need your order repeated several times but the portions are good and its fresh, hot and tasty.

Yes, I drove by it for about 10 years before I decided to stop there for eats. I had been ignoring the place because it wasn't in the nicest neighborhood. When I moved to N. Providence, this wasn't too far away and I decided to give it a try. I was hooked on the General Tso's Chicken combo and would order a take out at least twice a week when I living there. I noticed there was an inside dining area also but I had never eaten inside. Now that I live in Middletown, I make an occasional stop whenever driving by Providence.

Last spring I returned for lunch at the Mandarin Garden which from the mid-seventies through the early 1980's was one of my favorite restaurants in RI for Chinese food. What I used to love about the Mandarin Garden was that they made delicious moo shu that was not watery and to my amazement, they still do! What I did not like was that when I asked where Chan was, they said he retired years ago and only drops by once in a while...damn am I getting old fast!

Grew up in Providence and this is my fall back Chinese restaurant. Since I've moved out of Providence we still go by there once in a while to get some Chinese food. They've been in business since the early 70s if not even earlier! So it goes to show it's just not the same average Chinese takeout place. They also have a sit in area but it's mostly take out that they cater to. Since when I was a kid we used to always order Half Chicken and Fried Rice, that was a value meal on their menu, you get a box full of fried rice and a half fried chicken which is very good. Now that I'm older, I LOVE their General Tso's Chicken, I always order the dinner combo to get the General Tso's Chicken, fried rice or you can replace it with Lo Mein, and an Eggroll. The General Tso's chicken here is different from everywhere I've eaten it, it tastes fresh and is still crispy, the spice in the sauce also gives it another kick in the flavor. The eggroll is also so good with the duck sauce packets so ask for extra duck sauce! I've other things here as well, the crab rangoons are good, the wrap is a bit on the thicker side. I've had egg drop soup here but I would not recommend that because I didn't like it. The chicken wings are great! Their Lo Mein is great, I used to order platters of the Lo Mein for events all the time. I'd recommend this restaurant for someone looking for some good Chinese food.

Ive been living down the street from this place for over a year now and never stopped by. After reading all the good reviews I finally decided after an insane Chinese food craving.. to walk there. I was happily surprised that my food was done in minutes and was very delicious!

By far the best hidden jem of Chinese food. Living in RI my life I only became familiar with them two years ago and let me tell you it's the best. Their food is like no other not the same ol Chinese food at all and always super fresh! We go there often and we live in Cranston! Area isn't all that good but the food and the family running it are awesome!

I happened across Mandarin Garden only because I had moved in right down the street and I'm always game for some good Chinese food. I don't even want to think about the money I "wasted" buying entree after entree. I'm a person that likes to test places by the way they prepare my favorite dishes, sweet and sour chicken and chicken fried rice. This place set the bar for me. The sweet and sour chicken is made unlike anywhere else. I haven't been able to find anything even remotely like it on the west coast since I graduated college. The fried rice is great too! Whenever I am in the vicinity of Providence, I'll make excuses to come.

i was incredibly disappointed by this place, after reading all the great reviews, i got standard stuff: shrimp fried rice: rice was not cooked chicken fried rice: same as above kung pao chicken: salty, not hot vegetarian lo mein: no tasty moo goo gai pan: salty, slimy , terrible i wont eat here again; and would not recommend either; frankly im quite shocked by all the incredible reviews; i think its the worst chinese food ive ever had; chinese buffets are way better, galaxie on mineral spring is way better

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
