The burgers here are tasteless to me , but I thinks that's just my opinion. Their average , I guess. The fries are mediocre . The chicken sandwich was okay. I guess everything is just okay/ average. I would definitely eat at another place in the mall.

I'm not sure what all the groaning is about. This was our first visit and it gets a solid 3 stars. The Korean bbq burger had a really nice flavor and the #12 burger was cooked perfectly. The onion rings are some of the best I've tasted - crispy breading and delicious. Our service was great and our food was hot and came out quickly. (Thanks Maria!) Roberto and his partner on the grill had a real system going - it was like lunch and a show.

Great ! The burgers are very good ! The buns are very warm and taste amazing ! The fries are also very good ! But my favorite are the chocolate milkshakes ! They taste veryyy good ! The vanilla ones are even good !

Johnny Rockets improving in the PPM! Adding space for a seating area was the smartest thing this JR could have done. It is also nice to see a restaurant improving where many in the food court are moving in and out. In terms of the food, you can't go wrong with a JR burger. I am a huge fan of their Smokehouse and Houston burgers. Also, their chicken cheesesteak is pretty good, and I lived in Philly. Also a good move is to get the chili cheese fries as a appetizer. Their shakes/malts are pretty good too. I got a creamsicle (orange soda/vanilla) float. Even though they are rated in RI monthly, etc. don't expect to be floored by their burgers themselves. They are slightly better than your fast food joints. The toppings are what really makes a JR burger.

Wow, this place really, really sucks. I've been to other Johnny Rockets in the past but this one gives new meaning to the phrase "trailer trash." Tonight my nephew and I decided to eat at the restaurant if that's what they call it. Sure there's a seating area, but you might as well be eating in some dumpy establishment next to a trailer park. Why are you so down on Johnny Rockets, you might ask me. It's a fair question and I'll tell you why. Because, for whatever reason, they no longer serve food on dishes with glassware and utensils. That's right people, the place uses paper cups and cheap ass paper plates to put the food on. And that's at the "dining booths." I ordered a hamburger and it was served on a paper plate of the same size. I asked the waitress for a dinner size plate but she told me they didn't have any. Have you ever tried eating a burger on a dessert dish? Try it sometime and you'll quickly see how hard it is to open the burger to add ketchup or other condiments. So I had to use the paper wrapping as my placemat, which made me feel like I was eating McDonald's at a picnic table, except that I was in a restaurant! When I ordered apple pie a la mode, the waitress delivered it in a paper tray used for French fries. How classy it that??? And I even got a plastic spoon with it, woo hoo! But guess what? The spoon had partially melted from the microwave and my pie and ice cream reeked of plastic -- yuk! They ought to call the place Johnny Rubbish instead. Paper plates, cups and plastic spoons, really?

its hit or miss! if you come on the weekend they have their tip top staff on shift. really friendly, awesome food. but honey boo boo if you come in the day its the worst. I asked for a root beer and they put the ice cream in after the soda and it exploded all over my arms. i asked the woman if she could put it in another cup for me and she said "here" and put another cup under the wet dripping drink.. And i pathetically walked away and threw it out in the bathroom where i washed up.

  • Samantha B.

Milkshake was hella lumpy. They didn't wash the thing to blend it, just went right from butterfinger to strawberry. Not cute. She saw the lumps, no craps were given.

On a weekday during lunch hour, I waited to be seated for the interior dining area, and it took a couple of minutes before a waitress arrived to seat me. I chose a large booth near the entrance. I ordered a coffee shake, grilled cheese sandwich (American cheese on wheat bread), and American fries. The shake was nicely presented with a spoon and a straw provided by the waitress from a rotating dispenser. After several minutes, the fries and sandwich arrived. The fries were piping hot, but the grilled cheese sandwich didn't appear to have been grilled long enough, as the cheese wasn't fully melted. As for the taste, both the fries and sandwich were fairly bland, even by diner food standards. I had to rely on ketchup to add flavor to the fries. The waitress was attentive and brought me a cup of water when I was almost done with my shake. The shake itself was fairly good, although not as thick or flavorful as a Newport Creamery coffee Awful Awful. The restaurant has a nice diner atmosphere with a flashy retro theme, and the presentation of the food was excellent. The service was adequate for a food court restaurant. However, the quality of the food was only so-so. This might be a good place to take kids who aren't as picky about the food quality, but I think most adults will be slightly disappointed.

NASTY! I am pregnant and I ordered a banana milk shake as every other Johnny rockets I have been to uses fresh bananas. I watched in horror after I prepaid as the man used a half used banana that was black! UNACCEPTABLE. I had my husband run over and have them halt the order and tell them to remake it. I can't be having manky bananas! No one should! This is unacceptable for Johnny Rockets standards. Another example of staff not giving a hoot. Then the guy picked up bananas, not making a new drink but adding to the same one and showed another banana that was all brown. Being pregnant I was disgusted by this and felt ill. I told my husband to get a refund. It took 5 minutes to get a refund and it is sad I had to cause a scene to tell the manager he should be quality checking his stock and should not be serving bad, brown bananas to customers. Unacceptable. Will never go back. Watch your food prep at this location like a hawk unless you want to get sick.

Servers suck and so does the food. Never going back. We had two kids with us. She brought one drink out which was water. Then i asked for fruit punch cuz the kids meal comes w a drink i ordered two and she came back w one and it was warm. Then i asked for another one.warm again and i had to ask for ice. Didnt offer me a drink. I ordered one. Then she brought my coke flat and warm. Then i asked for another. That was warm and flat again. Then ketchup was empty. Then she brings out fries w no burgers. Then she says she didnt know my kid wanted a drink or me for that matter. I never saw such a dumb server in my life! And i think her tag said supervisor. OmG no good. Definitely did not get a tip! And my husband went there a few weeks ago and it was poor also w raw hamburgers for my three yr old. Unbelievable! And my kids fruit punch tasted like lysol.

Got a vanilla milkshake to go and they gave me a buzzer which I found odd. After a few minutes the shakes came and they were quite good, plenty of vanilla flavor. Overall I'd say if you want a shake it's a solid choice but not anything overly special.

This is one of the few food court choices in the PPlace that I'll actually eat at. All the other choices have their food sitting out in a steam tray for who knows how many hours. At least here, the food is made-to-order. I was helped by Diamond and she was great! She went over the different toppings each of the menu items came with and allowed me to make some adjustments. *I hate lettuce and tomato* There is not a lot of time for conversation when placing an order at a location like this, but I was pleasantly surprised at her genuine ability to converse. The food was okay. I didn't love it.. but it's fast-food, so it was expected. I had the turkey club (with no lettuce or tomato) on whole wheat with a side of bacon cheese fries. This was my big splurge of the week! 4 Stars because of the friendly service! ....What's with the weird lady that is sitting at the counter with a pile of change and stuffed animals every time I walk by? She's kind of mean... and just plain strange.

Terrible. The guy who took our order obviously hated his job and was completely rude. The burger was a hot mess and cold. The fries were luke warm but tasted decent. Just a giant disappointment and we won't be back.

I cannot even begin to put into words how horrid my last dining experience was at Johnny Rockets in PPM. There were 4 of us who ordered quit a bit of food for a cost of over $40. It was a Saturday afternoon so the mall was a little busy - but not unreasonably so. After waiting 20 mins and seeing all kinds of folks come and go, I stopped @ the counter to see how much longer it would be. I was informed by the manager that the order never made it to the kitchen but he would get right on it. These people showed no sense of urgency whatsoever and mulled about their day carrying on conversations. 20 minutes later I still didn't have food but could see a portion of my order in the window. After asking to speak to the manager again - I finally got my food, which was cold and made me feel immediately sick. Epic fail. 2 thumbs down.

It was near the end of my trip and I was craving a burger. A simple Google search told me that this place was named Providence's best burger place for almost 10 years. I was very surprised because places in the middle of a mall food court are not usually on "best of" lists. I thought that maybe there was something special about this place, so I decided to give it a try. I got their mushroom burger (Route 66) and a strawberry Oreo shake. The food arrived quickly but it took me a while to find a seat at the food court because it was sooooo crowded. The burger was mostly bun with very little meat, and there was probably a mere 5-6 bits of mushroom on top of the burger. The shake was overly sweet and I probably only finished 1/4 of it. And for $12 (fries were NOT included), I think I would have been better off going to any other booth at the food court. Either Providence needs more burger places or the people responsible for the "Best of Providence" list should try places outside of the mall because I give this place two thumbs down.

So....I work in the city and have been seeing television ads about JR's Rhode Island 'Squealer'. Apparently based on JR research(?), bacon is priority on a burger in RI. As I have never been able to get near the JR on the East side, I was in the mall one day and saw, in the food court, the bright red lights of Rockets and decided this was my chance. We sat ourselves "inside" which was sort of like a play restaurant. My girl ordered a Smokehouse burger and I figured as a bacon aficionado, I had to try the Squealer. It has, according to the ads, 60% beef and 40% bacon. I probably should have looked at the menu as I didn't realize fries, rings etc. were all separate. No biggie, for $6 + this burger should knock my socks off, right? No. This thing was.......odd, to say the least. first off, it was mostly bread and topping. The patty was about the size of a silver dollar. The texture of the burger was strange, rubbery doesn't begin to describe it. It had a sort of grey-ish colored juice leaking from it and an odd flavor, as if it were freezer burned or something. One thing that Johnny has forgotten about in the making of this thing; bacon is only good when it is crispy. Being mixed with the beef, the bacon doesn't get crisp, so it remains chewy and gross, and lacks the flavor. "So you get what we had here last week. Which is the way he wants. Well, he gets it. I don't like this anymore than you do." (Cool Hand Luke 1967). The Smokehouse burger was not that impressive either. Not far from a McKangaroo burger, it did not impress either of us to make this excursion worth it. As many others have yelped, the service was sub-par to say the least. I would have been better of texting my order to the cook, I wouldn't have had as long a wait. The only reason JR get A star, is the ice in the Coke was right on.

Really wasn't impressed with this place. A, the fact it's in a mall (not good), 2, small seating area (unless you wanted to do the whole sit at the counter scene) which I didn't! and C, I got the smokehouse double NOT GOOD!! Burgers were extremely greasy, bun was smaller than the patties, bacon was NOT CRISPY AT ALL, and the taste was not up to par! Sorry Johnny, maybe you need to send your Rocket into space, and keep it there!!!

  • Soy L.

I was hoping Johnny would be good. It wasn't. The burgers have an odd taste. It's not the sauce, it is the burger itself. The fries and onion rings are greasy, but on a positive note, the malts are pretty good. Service unfortunately is abysmal. I sat in a booth for five minutes waiting for a menu. I was about to walk out when the server stopped yapping with her teen brethren and decided to bring a menu. The floor of the booth I was in was slippery from mushed fries. It was 7PM when I visited the restaurant so there was no crowd. Taste is subjective but there is no excuse for poor service and filth.

I've been to this JR twice. First time before I went to movies I was starved so I got an egg salad sandwich. It was alright. Second time went with the almost in laws. I had a burger and onion rings. I stood at the counter and waited for literally 5 mins while everyone else talked and text messages god knows who, no one acknowledged my presence. I ordered onion rings, burger and ranch dressing. What I got: French fries, and grilled cheese, no dressing, no ketchup even! I went back.... told them it was wrong. The counter person put the fries and the grilled cheese back up for sell. Re-did my order and then practically threw it at me. I gave her a piece of my mind. Haven't been back since, don't plan on it. The only qualifications you need to work here are - an attitude - a cell phone with unlimited text messaging - an IQ of 5 or less.

A St. Louis burger, a mix of onion rings and french fries and a very thick peanut butter chocolate shake is my idea of a perfect afternoon lunch at Providence Place Mall. My husband would agree after enjoying a plain Route 66 burger, sharing the fries and onion rings and a cold rootbeer is a tummy tickling adventure. Usually after ordering, one of us will hold the buzzer to let us know when the food is ready while the other finds a seat in the food court. Usually when we eat, we're lost in our own little heaven. So sitting at the counter is unnecessary. We've been to a few locations and have never been disappointed. That includes the one at South Shore Plaza and Twin River Casino. Good food, hot, plenty of it and the shakes, THE SHAKES!!!!

  • Keith M.

Just a coke and diet coke at the counter. Too many workers hanging out and waiting to open and their clock is 5 minutes slow. I'm sure I'll be back and I like the food - you get what you pay for - greasy burgers and crispy fries. Please, someone give them a training class and adjust the clock!

    (3)
  • melka m.

Ick. If you want to sit at the counter stools, don't bother, because the wait service takes so long to get to you, you'll instead regret that you didn't just order it to go. Every time I've been there, the waiters and waitresses have tended to assure me that someone will be with me, and then for the next 10 minutes I watch them amble about as they ask one another how or what to do. Either way, whether you eat there or get your food to go, the food's pretty wretched. Every time I get a burger there, they've been disturbingly slimy and the fries are either rock hard or soggy.

Yummy veggie burgers, the best onion rings that I've ever had and on top it all off, (I can hardly stand it) rootbeer floats. Yummmmm.

Before the Thayer Street Johnny Rockets turned me off to the chain entirely, I did have one or two meals at the Providence Place restaurant, and I have to say that the staff handles the swarming mall masses quite efficiently and makes a damned fine BLT that certainly beats many of the other food court offerings (as well as a terrible veggie burger that is certainly beaten by many of the other food court offerings). If you're stranded at the mall and need a meal, this is not the worst place to get it.
