No bad. Good price and simple breakfast. Homemade cream cheese. Especially love the omelette special with unlimited ingredients. Smooth coffee as well.

Cafe Zog has a great relaxed atmosphere and a nice cafe menu. The staff is friendly and accommodating. You won't find out of the ordinary menu items here but the food is yummy and satisfying. The coffee doesn't compare to coffee exchange down the street but the menu is much more extensive if you're hungry!

This place has always sucked. Fruit cup looked like it was 2 says old, snarky hipsters behind counter. How hard is it to toast toast?

I think this will be a great coffee shop if they just stick with drinks (coffee, tea, smoothies, etc) and not be distracted by their food menu. I ordered a bagel sandwich toasted with egg and cheese. After waiting for about 20 minutes (with no one in front of me), the poor wheat bagel was not toasted (but kind of cold) and the cheese was not melted. It was just a very sad non-toasted bagel sandwich with egg and unmelted cheese. I was too hungry to ask for a replacement. I finished it away. I also ordered a side of corn beef hash since it was less than $2. Umm... it tasted like $1.50 where the corn beef tasted like salt and the potatoes were overcooked. For drinks, I ordered their hot white chocolate and I am not too sure what I had. It tasted like hot coconut almond milk. Very sweet and it was a dessert to finish up my meal there. I would avoid using the bathroom if you can hold it. It's right next to the dish washer and it is smaller than an airplaine or megabus bathroom. The floor/sink/toilet are really gross.

Solidly decent. Cute. Good coffee. Tasty pastries. Teensy b ooths like church confessional. Friendly counter help. No frills. Like I said, solidly decent...but somehow missing something.

Cafe Zog is just a few shops down from Coffee Exchange on Wickenden in Providence. It is NEVER as busy and claustrophobic as CE. Its casual and relaxed. I like their drinks they have a decent selection of syrup choices if you get a late. My camel latte was AWESOME oh and less than $3!! They also make good sandwiches. I've had a smoothie there too and I almost went back and bought another one it was so good.

So I should preface this with the fact that I did order delivery from Grubhub and I had originally really liked that they had this option from a place where you would not ordinarily be able to receive delivery. This review should reflect why places like this shouldn't offer delivery, my food arrived an hour and a half after I ordered it and was missing items. The kicker was when my total was fifteen dollars and I only had a twenty to pay him with assuming he could break it but no, he told me in the most hipster snotty way that "he doesnt carry change" like what? so he got a 5 dollar tip on my late food that really should have only cost 12 dollars because it was missing items. Not happy and would not recommend to anyone.

I hate to hate on the Zog, but I don't think I'm selling state secrets when I say that this place is completely unremarkable in every way. There are some really basic logistical issues--does the staff fix the coffee behind the counter, a la Dunkin, or do you do it yourself, a la Starbs? Where, exactly, IS the trash can? How many people can they fit behind that counter? Is the bathroom actually smaller than an airplane lavatory? It seems that, for years, management has hired diffident and grudging employees who could care less about the product or customer experience. Not what I'm looking for in a neighborhood coffee shop, thank you very much. The positive? The breakfast sandwiches are fine, but when you put that much butter on anything, it's going to taste good.

I have to applaud BW's review - definitely has been a highlight of my Yelp experience. As for Cafe Zog... Not a fan. At all. In the slightest. I can't imagine how the incidents of poor service are isolated - I was largely ignored, even though the cafe was nearly empty. When I finally received acknowledgement, the girl behind the counter was quite standoffish and rude, as if doing me a great service. I was a huge fan of the fruit flies swarming over the fresh fruit...luckily I didn't eat anything. It being fall, I ordered a pumpkin spice latte. Apparently, they interpreted my order as for a shit-spice vomit swill. I've had better coffee at Hess gas stations. I did my part and watered the closest bush with that garbage. Never come here.

Cafe Zog is a quiet, cute, and great little coffee shop. The bagels are enormous, the sweets on the counter look delectable, soft radio playing, the aroma of coffee brewing, and the free wifi are all a great time. I will say the gentleman behind the counter is very meticulous when making his beverage creations and takes his time with each. I think the amount of time i spent waiting for my Sagittarius Rising to be made was still less time than i would have waited in line at the coffee shop a couple of doors down. Why four stars and not five? Well... when i was at the counter i was inquiring about the ingredients in the baked goods. I have a food allergy. With that said i have to be pretty cautious with what i eat, especially when eating out. When i asked what the ingredients were in a couple of the goodies on the counter the barista divulged that they were not made on site, but are purchased at a bakery and brought in daily. I appreciate that which Zog tries to accomplish in the limited resources they have on site i just wish they had a little more insight into what they're selling.

I found this place a few months ago when heading out for breakfast on Watermann. Everywhere else was packed so I figured I would give it a try- it was one of the best choices ever! They make the most delicious chai tea latte ever! They also have warm cider during the winter that is amazing!! Their meals are also served with very large portions, you will never leave there hungry. Overall a great cozy atmosphere, love it!

This place is open late (11 pm) which is rare for Providence making it one of my favorite places. In addition, the ambience is nice because there are always open tables, and it is significantly quieter than surrounding establishments. The only reason it is 4 stars and not 5 is because the food isn't very good. They have a lot of bottled beverages but don't have fresh tea (only bagged). In addition, they don't have a large selection of beverages typical for a cafe like lattes and mochas etc. On the plus side, the staff are very nice.

An unfortunately unsatisfying experience, both in terms of service and food. From what I can gather (and the person working the counter confirmed), the food is pre-prepared or purchased in bulk. I think the menu, the staff, and everything should be retrofitted and completely redone to compete with the Exchange up the street and attract the Brown and RISD kids who would love another place like this to work and enjoy food on the lovely balcony in the summer months.

Food = nothing special, at best. (Burnt coffee, fruit fly-infested fruit, greasy omelettes) Service = poor. (Workers can be impolite to customers, service is generally slow) As a sidenote, I have heard from past employees that the owner does NOT treat his employees well and can be quite inappropriate (even with customers, sometimes).

After going into the squished Coffee Exchange on a Saturday AM only to find a line out the door into the freezing cold (though I am excited to try it, at a less busy time!) we walked a block and ended up at Zog. And there was 1 table for two waiting for us! We came for breakfast, and I had the most perfectly toasted everything bagel with the chive/green onion cream cheese that had actual pieces of green onion in it so I assumed it was homemade and it was delish. BF had the egg and ham sandwich and he really liked it. Coffee was good. The star of the show though, were the fresh squeezed juices! My BF actually went up to the counter after he finished his OJ asking how they made it and it had to have some sort of yogurt in it, but in actuality their technique makes it come out somewhat frothy and it was certainly the best fresh OJ we'd both had. I had the Sagitarius juice/smoothie and it was equally as good (though I'd do this crazy frothy OJ next time!). One thing I noticed though is that when you ask for an addition - i.e. the "Supervitamin" - I saw behind the counter that they were just using a regular multi-vitamin from the grocer. Not sure how that worked, but thought it may have been something more fancy they were using... There was also a huge sandwich board and a soup special that looked pretty good. One downside is that the service was pretty slow to get the food made, since we were the only people who had a food order in and it was just my toasted bagel and his egg sammy. Also, we had finished our breakfast by the time the juices were made - and it turned out the guy manning juice bar forgot! Maybe I was relaxed and happy to have just WALKED to an independent coffee shop/cafe for the first time in a year - so I didin't mind too much! It was nice to take it on the go. Other thing is that the bathroom was marked "employees only" and I was too intimidated to go in, even though I had to go BAD! BF said it's fine to just go in...if this helps any readers out there who find themselves in the same predicament!

So sad. You've got people tumbling over each other to get a coffee and sit at the tiny little tables at Coffee Exchange two doors down, and little Cafe Zog is half empty, with private little booths and coffee that's just as good. The first reason for this is because during the busiest time of day, they've got one person working and people want coffees, sandwiches and omelets. While I was in line, four people left cause they got tired of waiting. They probably joined the mosh pit of hipsters waiting in line for coffee two doors down. With a little more time on our hands, we pulled up into one of their cute little semi-private booths with our laptops to do some work. No plugs in the booths, but still nice for the 3 hours my laptop will last. The boyfriend got his iced coffee right away. Mine took a good, very apologetic, 15 minutes. As did the bagel & cream cheese. The "Zog Specialty" is the Cafe Sarem (hazelnut coffee w/ sweet ground chocolate and steamed milk), so that's what I got. It was worth the wait, super super yummy and worth coming back for. I also got a bagel with what sounded like the best cream cheese ever: onion, chive and bacon. So... It was damn delicious, just let me note that the bacon comes on top and is not mixed with the cream cheese. Overall, the service was super slow, but we both really liked what we ordered and thought it was worth the wait. It's also nice to have a place on Wickenden where you can get coffee and think straight without feeling like you're at the stock exchange shouting your order. Pssstt... Wifi password is: cafe123456

Stopped in recently and had an absolutely abysmal experience. Getting the girls behind the counter to stop muttering and rolling their eyes at each other long enough to order anything was like pulling teeth. My mom asked what kind of soups they had and the girl waved in the direction of a sign, sighing, and when my mom said she'd like to try one of the selections - the chicken noodle - the girl sighed again and said "Oh, we don't have that." I ordered an iced coffee with soy, no sugar. It was incredibly over-sweetened. One of the girls went to get more ice and came back with just a small deli container full, which meant my remade coffee only had a small handful of ice in it. My mom ordered a turkey sandwich. She had to repeat the order 4 times, including twice to the girl at the register. We sat so I could start eating my bagel (which was just so-so) and after ten minutes we got up and asked if the sandwich was almost ready. The girl snapped that she was "just getting to it" (note: there were no non-coffee orders after us, so I have no idea what she was doing all that time) so we asked to have it wrapped - there was no way we were staying another minute. She rolled her eyes. Thank you, my mom said, and the girl set her mouth in a straight line and turned away. No response whatsoever. I get it: sometimes you have a really shitty day and you can't break out of it. I do. I mean, they were robbed recently. That's awful. There's no AC in there. That's awful. It was clear that they both wanted to be somewhere else. But you don't take it out on your customers. We won't return - though I have a feeling neither of the girls working when we were there would care.

I really want to like Zog a lot, but there's always one (or a few) thing that doesn't go quite right. Here are the pros: rarely crowded, quiet bamboo garden, tasty omlettes and breakfast sandwiches, free wifi. Cons: long waits when you order food, bathroom facilities. It's an interesting little place that needs some tweaking (an actual kitchen perchance?).

  • Vilay S.

The first time I went there, I wanted chili and the guy went into the mysterious basement, came back with chili, and stuck it in the microwave. Uhhhh... Zog doesn't have the food quality of a cafe nor the kitschy vibe of a diner. It's a mediocre place to get a cup of drip coffee or no-frills breakfast or lunch. Do so at your own risk though, since this place has no kitchen. Breakfast is made on plug-in griddles (like the kind you can buy at BedBathetc). Don't bother with the cakes & pastries. I saw some packages with price stickers on them and they definitely came from a grocery store or costco. I gave them an extra pity star because knitting group met here a few times and the staff was usually very nice and the owner seems sweet. If I want sketchy food, I'd rather get it from Loui's.

I don't know how this place is still in business. The food is bland and usually not homemade. When it is homemade, beware of thumbtacks in your falafel (yes, my friend was surprised to find a thumbtack in his mouth, for which he was compensated with another free falafel wrap). I once asked what kind of muffin one was, and the seemingly stoned employee picked it up and took a massive deep-nostril whiff of it to conclude it was banana walnut. I didn't choose that one. Overall, the place is uncomfortable, both physically and inherently, due to the ineptitude of its employees.

Cafe ZOG might as well just change its name to "The OTHER coffee place on Wickenden." For whatever reason ZOG has never been able to attract the following that Coffee Exchange next door has, even though to my untrained eye they serve pretty much the same thing. It's not like the early 90s when you had to seek out a place like ZOG to get that mysterious drink called cappuccino, or find an apartment through roommate wanted fliers on the walls. These days you can get everything ZOG (or Coffee Exchange) serves at any Starbucks or even Dunkin Donuts, and all of your apartment, bandmate, and used furniture transactions are done online. So what keeps people coming? The atmosphere. You come to ZOG to sit and unhurredly enjoy your coffee, not to drive off with it on your way to work. You come to ZOG to read, especially if you're reading something pompous and literary that you hope might catch the eye of a cute college girl. You come to ZOG to hang out with your friends when it's too early to go hang out at The Hot Club like a respectable drunkard. To me, the hanging out is actually what gives ZOG an advantage over Coffee Exchange. ZOG is rarely crowded and relatively unhurried. Rather than stand in line for 20 minutes waiting to order a beverage that there's nowhere to drink, at ZOG I can order and sit and wait for twenty minutes while they make it. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration - but the service here is notoriously slow. I've always found ZOG to be a great place to kill a couple hours with a book on a leisurely Saturday afternoon. Oh yeah, and the bathroom is ridiculously tiny, but no one has found any video cameras in it.

We ended up stopping in for lunch because the place we wanted to go was closed. We had a Greek wrap and a curried chicken salad sandwich, and both were amazing! We got two dessert bars - one like a 7 layer bar (fabulous!) and one called a mud bar (nothing special). The staff were super friendly and we sat on the patio out back. So glad the other place was closed! :)

I'll go here if Coffee Exchange is insufferably crowded with yuppies and their babies. (Babies? In a coffee joint? Come on, stop. Quit it. You are so annoying.) That being said, it's not amazing. It's better than Dunkin Donuts, but not as good as Starbucks and a slap in the face to Coffee Exchange. It's just kind of watered down and lame.I haven't had the food here, so maybe that's how they survive? I don't know. They're also cheaper than CoFX. The service is okay. Never rude.

This place was quite cute, and they make a mean latte. According to my date, they also make a great fruit smoothie. I didn't try any of their food, but it looked great. I have to say, I liked the coffee better than the Coffee Exchange next door.

Great spot to study! Nice hole in the wall Cafe. If you're looking for a hipster Cafe, look no further. Staff are really nice and management are really friendly. Benefits: Free wifi. Cafe hours are early and they close late! Pricing is reasonable. Outdoor patio. There are many outlets around the store! For me this place resembles a lot like the Cafe in the TV show "Friends". :)

I have been on a quest to try out all of the coffee shop options in Providence before I settle down to my favorite, so Cafe Zog was next on my list. Sadly this was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had. I feel like this place as potential: they have some nice booths that give some privacy and a cute back patio. However, accomodations mean nothing if the food and drink are lousy. I tried to order just a black tea and they had no options; then when I asked about pepermint, they said they were also out of that. All that was left was a very fruity selection of celestal seasoning teas. Seriously, celestal seasonings? I also decided to try a crumb cake and sadly this was even worse - it was stale, crumbier than any crumb cake I've ever had and had a texture like plastic. I really wanted to like this place. Let's hope they turn it around.

Cafe Zog was okay, but just okay. I fancy myself a bit of a cafe conisseur. A warm friendly cafe is definitely the top of my list. This was not the place. We stopped in for a quick lunch and an alternative place fore a cup of coffee (coffee exchange is usually my go to for warm beverages but it is ALWAYS packed). The food was just okay. A little pricey for what we got. The BLT was pretty average and the chili was cold. Not bad, but not something I couldn't make better at home. The staff was friendly enough but seemed offended when I told them that I needed my chili re-heated. I saw a couple of fruit cups in the fridge that looked very much past my prime. The real kicker was that the mug I got for my tea didn't look particularly clean which was on the nasty side. I was disappointed because the place definitely looks like it has potential. Maybe they'll up their standards a little, then they might be on to something.

Ok, so the 1st time I went into Cafe Zog, everything was ok. I got a salad, which was fine and the dressing was pretty good. I also wanted to get a coffee but they said they were "out" of soy milk. I'm pretty sure they just don't ever carry soy milk because the 2nd time I went in there a few weeks later they said they were out again. And honestly if soy milk is in such a high demand that they are constantly running out then someone isn't managing their inventory correctly. So anyway, I went in a second time just to grab an egg sandwich on my way out of town. By the time I realized they had forgotten half the things I asked for in my order I had already left and was too far to go back. Against my better judgement I went in a 3rd time. This time my girlfriend and I both ordered egg, cheese and avocado on a bagel. We were in a hurry which is the only reason we even went in there. The place was empty and it still took them 20+ minutes to make 2 egg sandwiches. Then I made sure to check my order before I left and they had forgotten the avocado on BOTH sandwiches. The girl be hind the counter apologized and said she would put it right on. After I got my sandwich back I left and halfway down the block I proceeded to bite into it just to find that the 1 tiny piece of avocado that they did give me still had the hard skin on it. I seriously could not believe anyone could be so incompetent as to not take the skin off of an avocado. Oh, and also, they were STILL out of soy milk the 3rd time. I think they just put soy milk as an option on the board although they obviously never have it. No matter how convenient this place is, I'm never going back.

Unfortunately Zog kinda pales next to it's cooler, hipper, swaggier brother Coffee Exchange, just a few doors down. Zog has breakfast, lunch, bunch of pastries and coffee. The location on Wickenden is great, and the interior is cozy and a little less pretentious than Coffee Exchange. I've never tried the food, just coffee and tea, and it was fine. Service was sort of reluctant. Bathroom was sketchy. Just discovered they have outdoor seating and a bamboo (or rivercane?) thicket in the back. Very cool. Poor Zog, All these Yelpers are hatin' on you lately. Bottom line: Zog is not impressive but not bad just for a quick stop. And you'll definitely have more breathing room than Coffee Exchange.

  • Leah W.

I was a bit unimpressed with Zog. Bland service and bland food. We were pretty much by ourselves in the cafe, but you would have thought the kitchen was thoroughly backed up. The freshly squeezed juice was tasty, but thick, as if the orange hadn't been squeezed but placed whole in a blender. It took so long, I think they had to go buy the oranges special. The omelets we ordered were nothing special. Overdone, and definitely not worth the wait or the price. What a shame - they could really have a good thing going.

gulio fonsseca, the Portuguese owner, fixed the bathroom floor and the main floor....... The bagels are large - I like that........ Fun little hipster joint with good music and yummy food. I had tasty maple walnut pancakes and my husband's egg sandwich was good, too. They cook everything on these tiny griddles (glorified hotplates) but I'm not even mad. Coffee was meh, but got the job done.

Pranced in with my boyfriend one day when we were getting massages at BodySense on Bassett and decided to go for a stroll. I like how the place is unassuming and quaint. The counter is small but the food & beverage speak much louder than the setup. The guy behind the counter seemed bored at first but boogied down once we ordered almost 40$ worth of stuff. He was helpful in letting us know what to order and easily persuaded me to try this coconut latte thing that was dee-licious. He checked back on us and had a gentle demeanor about him. My bf and I chose a window seat. There are cubbies against the wall conducive for studying. There is outdoor seating available but we visited in February. Will definately be back after our next massage.

I go to Zog when I need a place to work outside the office/home. Coffee exchange is just too busy sometimes and I feel bad taking up a table for an hour or two when I only order a drink. I can't attest to most of the food at Zog, but I did order a cookie once that was tasty. I usually just order tea from a typical selection of boxed teas (they did have black when I was there, unlike an earlier reviewer).

Stay Clear of their Sandwiches --- awful quality and a $7-$8 (ouch)-- Providence you can do so much better. I normally write so much more but I would rather forget my time @ Zog

Yesterday I entered the cafe and asked the young lady behind the counter what was the best sandwich in the house. She told me it was the Aubrie and it was her own creation. I asked her what was in the sandwich and she told me it was chicken, humus, tomatoes, and cheese. I am of Middle Eastern descent, so when I heared humus she already won me over. She told me it was her own creation. I ordered three of the sandwiches as wraps. The Aubrie is the Best Sandwich I ever ate. It was tasty and healthy. The young lady who came up with the sandwich was very pleasant, and I would also say very cute. I would add that the review is for the sandwich, but the beautiful smile and her kindness was most appreciated. If you enjoy the ingredients I mentioned to you, you would love the Aubrie Sandwich which was created by Aubrie. The sandwich should definitely be put on the menu with her name attached so she will forever get credit for creating the sandwich. If I was the owner of Cafe Zog, I would also introduce the Aubrie Sandwich at Geoff;s Superlative Sandwich Shop. Thanks Aubrie for being a sweetheart and for creating a most delicious sandwich.

Coffee is alright, nothing special. Food looks old and the place is generally dirty all the time (been here 4 times on separate occasions). The menu is outdated as some of the stuff on there (iced herbal tea as an example) aren't available. The place smells, I am not sure if others have realized this, but it's probably due to all the frying that goes on in the small shared space (no real kitchen area). Also, saw a guy handle food with no gloves at all which grosses me out. The point is, if you want a place to study or work and don't care about anything else, this is a good spot...it's never crowded really (for a reason) and has decent internet speeds and outlets. Otherwise, just go next door to Coffee Exchange.

Everyone seems to be down on this place because it's not Coffee Exchange. Why? Coffee Exchange is perpetually crowded with people and the stench of self importance which orients itself around the gulag like conditions of crammed tables with proles fighting over electrical outlets and slow wi-fi. The rumble of murmuring voices always in the background. Their coffee is good, but not even in the vicinity of great. Comparing Exchange and Zog is like comparing apples and Kumquats. Zog makes a serviceable cup of coffee, has ample seating and also delectable juice, smoothie and Italian soda concoctions. The biscotti and breakfast offerings aren't bad either. Its always quiet and pleasant. Give me the quiet cafe setting of Zog and its blazing wifi over the uncomfortable Coffee Exchange. Oh and RIP Reflections. You are still missed.

Nothing notable. pastries are good, omelets are so-so and house coffee is subpar. The environment is preferred to that of Coffee exchange because of its quiet ambiance. There is a delightful patio area out the rear door. The service has always been wonderful when I have eaten there. Would I go back- yes, but its not my first choice for breakfast on Wickenden St

So, the food is not so great here, and they are almost always out of whatever it is that you want. And the bathroom situation is straight out of a horror story - hole in the floor right in front of the toilet. And the credit machine is suspiciously slow. And there have been several occasions where I was blatently ignored by the hipster who was too busy looking disconnected to help me out. BUT... 1. They make a mean iced mint mocha. I enjoy it immensely. There are few places that do a mint mocha well. Respect for that. 2. I came here recently because I was very short on time and the line was down-right ungodly at the Coffee Exchange and I was hankering for a soy latte. Not only was my latte delicious, but the dude behind the counter did a little latte-art in the foam. How thoughtful! He was also very friendly and I felt quite at home. I used to hate this place, but after my last enjoyable visit, I might go back. For coffee, NOT FOR FOOD. Hopefully, Lady Luck will give me the fantastic guy who served up my positive esspresso experience during my most recent visit. What a pleasant fellow!

Why does this place get such terrible reviews? Maybe I just haven't been in enough times/tried enough things/used the bathroom yet, but it seems great to me. I'm currently vegan, so it's nice to find a place that doesn't smother everything in cheese, cream, bacon, etc. On the other hand, Zog offers a wide range -- you could get a salad (huge) and smoothie (delicious, made on the spot from real fruit) while your dining partner gets a cheesy, meaty omelette (served with fruit and a bagel.) Health/nutrition seems to be a focus here, which is great... With the exception of soups and bread/pastries, food is generally fresh, prepared on-site, and full of fruits and veggies. Only con is the price -- but that's just me being whiny, as it's pretty standard. Great breakfast/brunch/lunch/snack joint!

Wow, people really hate this place. I didn't find it quite so atrocious (then again I didn't use the washroom) but it certainly wasn't great either. After a couple days of traveling around New England and not really getting enough vegetables, I was happy to see the menu offer salad with tuna, but they were out of tuna (sounds like this is not unusual) so I opted for an omelette instead, while my two companions had a vegetable and cheese sandwich and what I think might have been bacon and eggs. The sandwich arrived first, followed a few minutes later by the bacon and eggs, and then after about 10 minutes my food came - by which point the other two people were well into their meals. The waitress also forgot my coffee (which was just awful), and when I asked for it she seemed a little annoyed. In short, I'm apparently just the kind of tourist that keeps Cafe Zog afloat. Sorry?

i went with some friends over the course of the summer. we rode our bikes 15 miles to providence and we were famished and parched so we came upon the infamous cafe zog. of course, we were ignorant of this legendary infamy at the time. first of all: the counter person was REALLY NICE. and she was ipod DJing, and the music was awesome. points for her and her ipod. i did have to detract stars for their REST ROOM which felt like a direct threat to my health and well being. scary. onto the other issue: we decided to get some smoothies and we saw an impressive menu for them with some seriously tantalizing "add ins." this menu included things like royal jelly, ginseng, ginko, maybe even ecchinacea if i remember correctly. so i ordered my smoothie with a few extras. i was told, each time, that they were "out of them." i was basically running down the list hoping they'd have some cool herbal ingredient in stock when the counter person confessed to me that the new management simply doesn't stock them, ever. so it would appear that they are instructed to lie, telling customers they are "out of" the ingredients. they were also "out of" one of the juices for my friend's smoothie. oh well. we did end up getting our smoothies. it didn't take more than five minutes. i detracted the third star for not having over half of the menu items available. i think the second star might really be a pity star. i don't hate the place really, but i don't know that i'd head back any time soon, which is unfortunate because i'm a sucker for a nice patio in the summer, and they seem hard to come across.

I realize, I'm going against the grain here. I love Cafe Zog. It has a much better atmosphere than the legendary Coffee Exchange, just a block away. The coffee is served in glass mugs, not paper cups, which is really nice change. Also, the omlets are great. The place has a nice vibe with hardwood floors and big glass windows that overlook Wickenden Street. Also, you're never rushed. Go to Zog, have breakfast, read Providence Journal or New York Times and let get your weekend off to a nice relaxing start.

Granted I have only stopped into ZOG as I am passing by to Waterman street but it is a quaint little place with a nice atmosphere and it's not real crowded. My kids love the Hot chocolate and the pastries are delicious. My next step is to try the breakfast, it's got to better than the microwaved crap at D&D.

This place is a deal for breakfast. The omelets are good as are the bagels. The coffee is decent. It's generally quiet, so you can go alone with a book or bring along some work. The place is small and gets crowded at peak times.

I have no Iidea how this place is still in business. Every time I decide to give this place another chance (I live nearby) I regret it. My last trip consisted of some lukewarm coffee and a stale bagel. I don't plan on returning.

Awful. Food is bland and boring at best. Service... what service? The people who work here usually look at you like you're causing them bodily harm by speaking when you try to order your food. If you do succeed in ordering, they may or may not bring it to you in about half an hour (even if all you got was a bagel with some cream cheese). Oh, and they trap you in the bathroom! No joke. The dishwasher, when open, blocks the bathroom door. So if you happen to be in the bathroom when they start loading or unloading the dishwasher, you gotta wait until they are done. No, apparently, they can't stop what they are doing and let you out - they actually have the nerve to tell paying customers to wait in the bathroom. ...Awful.

Simple cafe breakfast/lunch food - you order at the counter and someone brings it to you. Service isn't perfect but the staff is nice. The fruit served with egg dishes is pretty awful and embarrassing though. Coffee and hot chocolate are yummy.

Waiting is virtue at the zog, the owner, when he is around will say he has something for the smoothie, realize it isn't and drive to the supermarket to get it. Meanwhile, your meal is done and you smoothie still hasn't materialized. How about that explanation?

My mom, sister and I stopped by to hae a light lunch before we resumed moving the sis into her apartment. This place was a perfect spot for just that. I had the curried chicken salad on wheat. I make my own curry chicken salad and make a million mental notes of what to change to make it more like this one! The chicken salad wasn't dripping in sauce. It had just enough to keep it moist and flavored well. My mom had the zog chicken salad and she too was saisfied. The only negative is that my sis ordered the reuben and they had run out of sauerkraut. On well! Definitely a cute, college cafe and a lot of charm and tasty food!

Cafe Zog has been around for 15+ years and can attribute its survival, in part, to the fact the Coffee Exchange, a mere block away, is often crowded beyond belief. I'm not a huge fan of Zog's coffee, but they do have very good, creative smoothies and a wide selection of sandwiches and bagels. There's also a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating. My main problem with Zog is that the workflow process is a bit slow and disorganized. I'm not expecting fast-food, but waiting 20 minutes for a drink is a bit much.

How the heck is this place still in business? Their reviews are mostly bad, just one look at past problems with sanitation makes you feel queasy and last I went (years ago) they were washing the dishes in the bathroom sink. . . And the dishes sit there as you do your business in the bathroom which is appalling. The pastries are half the time from Sams Club and they cook on a griddle. You're a business, not a struggling college kid who still only knows how to cook Kraft Mac n cheese, so cook like it

Is zero stars an option? I've used yelp fairly often to read reviews, but hadn't signed up until today. I finally had the occasion to write a review--more of a public service announcement as I see it. The food is bad. Really bad. My friend threw hers away. Just looking at it turned my stomach. When she told the waitress it wasn't what she had expected, she got a pissy reply--not even a reluctant apology or offer of other food or discount. My main beef is with the staff. There is constant tension emanating from them like they just found out you cheated on them with their best friend and then killed their cat. I figure the 20 minutes between when you order your bagel and when they bring it to you scowling is the passive-aggressive period. Folks, it's the SERVICE industry. VERY smart move putting the tip jar where people order their food, so they tip you before they have a chance to sample your delightful service. I'm absolutely lost on how this place survives. I assume it's due to poor naive first-timers and masochists. If your cable's out and you enjoy drama, you can sit and watch the staff fight with each other behind the counter, but if you're hungry, like nice people, and are looking for a laidack cafe vibe, I'd head elsewhere.

Cafe Zog has a typical college town coffee shop vibe: shabby furniture, bulletin board covered with fliers, creative paint job (a lovely blue sky with clouds over the restaurant's two booths), and good music. I chose not to partake of their breakfast, lunch, or juice menus and instead tried their coffee and baked goods. This may have been a mistake. My cappuccino was wrong in every way, from the bland flavor to the discolored foam coated in a sugar and cinnamon mixture. To make matters worse, it was served in a glass mug, meaning I had to gaze upon its awfulness as I drank it. My slice of chocolate chip crumble cake paired well with the cappuccino, but only because it was flavorless, greasy, and severely lacking in chocolate chips. The girl behind the counter was kind and helpful, but overworked and therefore a bit slow. I might return to Cafe Zog to sample their other offerings, but it looks like I'll be sticking with Coffee Exchange if I'm on Wickenden Street and need a caffeine hit.

Food itself was quite good and the coffee was decent. I had the curried chicken salad sandwich on rye bread. But there were a couple of pretty big factors that didn't earn this cafe the other two stars. 1. Price: I paid over $13 for a simple chicken salad sandwich on rye bread that came with a bag of chips and a double latte, which I might add, was nowhere near the size I was expecting. If they had come down on the price a little bit, I would not have complained. 2. Service: I read some other posts about how slow the service was, and I will say that I actually received my food very quickly. However, they botched my order and gave me a different sandwich from the one I ordered. Luckily I still enjoyed it, but I was still disappointed when I didn't get what I ordered. Staff and management are very friendly and accommodating though. I'm sure if I said something they would have done something about it. All in all, a good, quiet cafe with free wifi to get some studying or work done, but don't come expecting excellent food or coffee.

Homegirl has been avoiding this for too long. Her conscious is ashamed. Inner turmoil has been brewing along with anguish and panging sorrow. Homegirl has committed a social injustice for not yelping sooner about Cafe Zog. Homegirl is more loving and non-confrontational than Valentine's Day in Switzerland. Good reviews can barely be contained in homegirls #stunnah body. It causes stress and agitation, that for the first time, led to a single pimple on homegirls left upper brow. Cafe Zog was awful. I truly wish I hadn't gone. If I was blind folded and given my plate, without any other information, I would have guessed it was prepared by a starving college student, whose ability is limited to microwaved ramen cups, and does not have two pennies to rub together. This college student who was preparing the best meal he possibly could, was doing so for his ailing mother with only months left to live. You see, the employees at cafe Zog had their hearts in the right place but simply didn't have any skill or knowledge of what the heck they were doing. There is no kitchen present at cafe zog. No kitchen. Yet they have a wildly magnificent selection. Homegirl ordered an omelet with a side of fruit for 7.95. My omelet was prepared on a single electric burner with the one frying pan they owned, the bacon was pre-cooked store bought nonsense, the side of fruit that I paid extra for was one slice of kiwi, and one slice of orange. It was just a train wreck. Homegirls possey had burnt pancakes, bad service, and just ended up feeling sorry for how awful it was. Homegirl will cut the manager and employees some slack, but the owner is not getting homegirls sweet and sympathetic side. Oh no no no. If this place doesn't change it will close in the very near future. Menu is huge and they have one frying pan. The employees had no clue about costumer service. Regretfully so-it was just a mess. Homegirl had to contain the wrath. I was slowly gaining a British accent and throwing things as my inner Gordon Ramsey came out. The owner needs to seriously change his ways. Homegirl wants to warn passersby to not be dismayed by the cozy cute look of the place. Maybe their smoothies are good, or maybe a bagel, but the cooked breakfast made Homegirl want to find the grave of the bacon I ate and apologize for ending up paper thin at cafe zog.

Dropped by for a coffee and a not-so-healthy munchies early in the morning. (8 am). There were already regulars around. Everyone knows each other in a name-to-name basis. The girl in the counter was really nice and friendly. While the other two guys at the back were prepping food with frowns on their faces. Yes you can see everything. It's a small cafe with small tables. There are two booths in the back. Really small, feel intimate. Had chocolate-dipped Madeline (buttery!) with my coffee. Also had the biscotti which was huge and very chewy (unlike the skinny and crunchy ones out there! It's quite different but in a delicious kind of way!

Ok, this place deserves more stars.. First of all it is intimate, one of a kind, laid back and personable. The food is healthy and tasty... the way they offer a bagel with an omelet paired with cutely cut up kiwi, oranges and strawberries is unique. The coffee is always better tasting then the crowded coffee exchange next store and there is always room to sit at an intimate booth. The music is awesome as well.. I could not stop my feet from tapping to James Brown "Papa got a brand new bag" and neither could my daughter or husband while we fought over what was left of a pistachio muffin and bacon, tomato and onion omelet! Also my husband was raving about the Jamaican rum coffee (think that is what it is called?). Yes the wait can SOMETIMES be is a bit long and they were out of a few things.. but If I am going to enjoy a coffee and brunch at a coffee shop and read some newspapers and put away the laptop I don't want to feel rushed or fighting for a table!! Try it!

The food preparation here is a bit on the dodgy side, but tasty in the end. They just use grill plates to cook on. Seating is a bit scarce considering the space. Overall, not a place for a relaxing brunch as the team struggles to fulfill orders at the same time, but excellent for a to-go coffee or tea and a bagel (those are yum).

Yuck. Rude service, horrible coffee, obnoxious clientele. I tried to get work done here and I will never try again. With Coffee Exchange so close, I don't know why anyone would even go here for a cup of coffee and you're on Wickenden so you can figure out another place to eat. Believe me. Also, as per a Craigslist rant in response to their call for applicants, I googled their health code inspection notes from the state of RI. Yikes. Don't do it if you get queasy easily. The only thing this place has going for it is its location. It seems like it is a revolving door for staff members too which is generally a sign of poor management or poor quality of product (since your staff doesn't really feel prideful enough about it to stay). I don't know about the management (seemed like when I went, there were no rules) but the quality aspect rings true. Go elsewhere, you'll thank me for it.

I only came here because Coffee Exchange was full and I was looking for coffee and free wifi. Cafe Zog provides both of those, in addition to the usual array of sandwiches and pastries that one expects from a cafe. It's a cute little place, and is usually pretty empty because most of Wickenden's coffee-seeking crowd gravitates towards Coffee Exchange. Their coffee is decent, and my chicken sandwich was fine too. Service was commendably polite, but nothing stood out food-wise for me. Cafe Zog will never be my top choice for a cafe in this area, but I can see myself coming back if I want a quiet cup of coffee away from the student crowd.

I've given this place 4 chances. The food ALWAYS takes forever. A woman even asked for her money back because she had been waiting 25+ minutes for a simple order that had be forgotten about even though the cafe was seemingly empty. The food quality is extremely average and the pricing is too much for what you're getting. Lastly, I've ordered a bagel specifically with cream cheese on the side all of the four times I've visited Cafe Zog and the cream cheese is NEVER on the side as I clearly asked for. The overall carelessness of this establishment isn't worth my money or time.

We drove to Providence for the day & stumbled across this cafe shortly upon our arrival. It was just what we were looking for, a local joint that could serve us a decent quick meal for a good price. You order at the counter from a menu posted on the back wall, so for non-locals you have that uncomfortable few minutes where you're trying to figure everything out. After the "hurry up" stare down from the girl behind the counter, I ordered the safest bet - a BLT. We sat out back, where there is a quaint patio with 4 tables. Our had a smearing of catsup and was in the direct sun, an umbrella would have been perfect. We also had a view of the alley with about 10 garbage bags which wasn't so great. In retrospect, we probably should have just sat inside. In summary, I liked the local feel of this cafe, the food was good, and the price was reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cafe unless you are squeamish about restaurants that aren't spotless.

I went here last fall for the first time.. and will not be back. First the good news. They had pumpkin coffee. And it was good. And.. that's it. My friend got a sandwich, and I was just about to order one myself before I saw the amount of bad food handling procedures going on. They had both front and back doors open. The sandwich cooler (that held the veggies, meats, and salads) was open. The employee was handling money, making the sandwich, serving other customers, and making our coffees with the same gloves on. It seemed like they only had one employee working, so I understand it can get hectic and busy, but still. Zog does have nice outside seating, and a nice location on Wickenden, but unfortunately there are so many other options within a stones throw of this place.

I've been coming here for a couple of years. The staff (though prone to turbulent turn-over) has always been friendly. Now, there are a few things to consider here, at Zog: First is the atmosphere. It's very intimate; something I can appreciate. There are two booths that are vaguely reminiscent of confessionals, that provide a wonderful space for private conversations. Many will compare Zog to Coffee Exchange a few doors down Wickenden, which is much more crowded and bustling. If you're, into low-key places, Zog should be your top pick. The music is actually governed by the employees, so no lousy radio stations or super-commercialized playlists. If you have an iPod, go ahead and ask to play it. There is also outdoor seating on the back patio. Tall bamboo shoots provide cozy seating, and further privacy from the conveniently located parking lot. Second is the quality. The food here is tasty! The first time I visited Zog was to have the $7 premium omlettes (with a bagel and fruit on the side!). However, the fresh biscottis, madeline cookies, and muffins kept me coming back! Compared to Amy's and Brickway, this is the most affordable breakfast on the street. They make their own cream cheese, which is a hit with my wife, and their chai lattes are more mild than competitors, which makes them more palatable for casual café-goers. Coffee Exchange has good beverages, but Cafe Zog certainly takes the cake when it comes to overall experience. If you're in a rush, maybe you should skip out on Cafe Zog. However, if you have a few extra minutes to spare, this is a great place to spend some quality time.

Only came here bc I forgot the Duck & Bunny is closed on Mondays, I was already in the area, and starving. Wished I read the reviews before settling on the first place I saw. The one guy on staff is most definitely stoned, he reeks of pot and he doesn't seem to care, or try to hide it. I don't have a problem with 420, but if you wanna get high do it on your own time, be a grown up! The food was very mediocre. I got a Zog Turkey wrap on the stoners recommendation, and it was dripping with way too much of the cranberry sauce and spicy mustard. The wrap was kinda stale, the turkey was meh, but the veggies (spinach, carrots, tomato) were crisp and fresh. He forgot to add the onions I requested, but did remember to sub spinach for lettuce. The wrap was almost $8, pretty overpriced for what it was. I also got an apple juice and a Perrier, the stoner was clearly bothered that I ordered 2 beverages. No idea why. He also stated that he had no more ice and couldn't get more so if I wanted anything iced then too bad. Too bad? I left him a $2 tip, but really wish that I hadn't. He was handling money, touching his face and hair, opening the various cabinets, and preparing food without gloves. I didn't see him wash his hands the entire time I was there - at least 20 minutes. I don't think I'll come here again. I work hard for my $ and don't want to waste it. Better food, more delicious food options literally anywhere else. The employee needs to get his act together and stop getting high in the back room. Very unimpressed. Yuck. ***just also wanted to add, the one employee on duty (the one reeking of skunk weed with blood shot eyes) was especially rude to an older couple trying to have dinner there. He kept correcting them and interrupting them and was very obviously bothered (sighing and eye rolling) that they were even there. Several other people in the cafe also noticed how these nice patient people were being treated and disrespected by this punk. We all exchanged knowing glances, but no one said anything. I really wish that I had, no one deserves to be treated like shit, especially not customers!

Somehow when you see the name Cafe Zog, you would think of an Albanian cafe with dark mustachioed men sipping coffee and filling the air with clouds of cigarette smoke. So much for imagination, you don't find that here local smoking regulations not withstanding. What you do find is a decent but not remarkable sandwich shop that does look very unimpressive. I had a Rubin that was fine, lots of decent corned beef. A bag of chips was the garnish. This was washed down by a cup of fairly ordinary coffee that required $1 for a refill. My companion had the Zog combo sandwich that didn't look bad. Would I go out of my way to eat here? No. Would I eat here again, sure if I had no other options. Bottom line, edible but unimpressive.

I stop here to get coffee when I'm in the area because it's never as crowded as other places nearby and there's a lot in the back that's easy to park in. I never get food because it takes ages, and the baked goods always look scarce in the cases and I get the impression they're not the freshest. Today, my iced chai with a shot of espresso was over $6! Whattttttttttttttttttttttttttt.

I don't know why this place has such a poor overall rating.... It's cute & much less crowded than Coffee Exchange. The coffee is decent and they have some cool menu options for food. The very nice, young guy who took my order followed all of the health code practices one would hope when dealing w food & customers. He grilled my muffin and washed the grill before hand, even! The outdoor space is nice and the vibe is relaxing. Check it out - everyone deserves 2nd chances....

Cafe Zog is a typical Wickendon Street/Fox Point place: small and not full kitchen, hip feeling, in an old building. As such, it can take a while to prep and serve your food. If you go in expecting more you will be disappointed. If you know what to expect, you'll like it here. My eggs, pancakes, potatoes and fruit plate was good (hence four stars, because of the pancakes, particularly) - but the fruit consisted of three pieces of orange and half a sliced strawberry. Any place else that would be a garnish rather than something actually called out on the menu. The coffee was fine (nothing special) but served in glass mugs that did not retain the heat. Most of the other patrons clearly had been there before, since they bought coffee in to go cups. The mug was not large, and as such it felt petty and insulting to have to pay for a refill and/or just a warm up. Minus a very important fifth star. And, come on - put napkins on the tables at the booths at least!

Very folksy setting. Good & inexpensive breakfast. I've tried their pancakes & omlete which I would say are above average. They have excellent and creative smoothies too. Summertime they have outdoor seating which is very pleasant in that neighborhood. Overall a very nice, neighorhoodie type place.

  • Gw M.

The coffee is middling. The tea is Celestial Seasonings. The food and the smoothies...well, it depends on who's making them. The baked goods are from Stop & Shop. Everything sits around for much too long. The place is filthy. The owner is a savage wretch who should be avoided at all costs. Managers change monthly, and the entire staff turns over every two months like clockwork. Don't even get me started on the bathroom. It says they open at 7:30 on Sunday, but they don't. The patio is a mess of broken light fixtures, crappy plastic chairs, and cigarette butts. But Zog has character. It's old and looks old. It nearly creaks. It smells like coffee. It has charm, and it has lines and wrinkles and it's lived-in. I love this place. I've made real friends among the staff, who are always friendly, young, interesting, and in contempt of their jobs. You can nest at Zog, you can write volumes, or surf volumes, get your coffee refilled, hide from the insufferable hipsters, and Be. My favorite cafe in Providence, owing in part to its location on Wickenden Street, is unpretentious, real, inspiring Cafe Zog. I wish there were more cafes like Zog.

I've been coming here for well over ten years . Every day during my three last years of upper school, I'd drive by and inevitably stop for a chai tea. I'll never forget (and this was years ago) how I was once stuck in hasbro children's hospital for like two weeks and insisted to my dad I needed chai. My dad Had no idea to describe what I wanted, but the owner knew exactly who I was and got my dad the chai (exactly the way I liked it) to my dad to bring to me. ALWAYS A LOYAL CAFE ZOG FAN.

I came to Cafe Zog this late afternoon needing a positive space to regroup and nourish after a busy day. What I found here includes the following: A. Two awesome guys who really are engaged with the customers, thorough and quite respectful - Nice Aura round here! B. Incredible Rosemary Hummus. Absolutely delicious -- novel idea! C. Hummus/tabouli wrap robust, filling, healthy and great tasting! D. Charming space to relax in and re-charge. Thank you, Cafe Zog! :0)

I've been sitting here for about 3 hours doing work; good mix of music (not radio which is good - no ads!). The cappuccino was really good (strong-how I like it) and the black iced tea is good. The onion bagel was not onion-y at all, but that's okay I guess because I love bagels! Good place to sit down & do work, free wi-fi & not a lot of traffic. The staff was smiling, approachable and friendly. Oh, and a bonus - lovely little outside bamboo garden (but no umbrellas for the most part).

Great small place. We ate at taste of india across the street but because I was in an intermittent fasting eating window i needed more calories. Headed over here and was so impressed by the friendly staff and the chicken wrap. It was like an Italian salad but portable. They had a jamaican coffee brewed that was bitter but sweet at the same time. I love this place. Its small and could easily be overlooked but definitely worth your time.

Electric frying pans to cook low grade food from B.Js out dated pies and pastries but charge top prices. The sanitary conditions are very risky to even be inside or out back on the patio. The food is terribly gross customer service is below 0 I brought my oldest daughter Jessica manooshian she was 16 the owner Julio f was making passes at her while Jessica manooshian and matt d manooshian was sitting minding their business.I thought it sad that a owner of a cafe zogs would be interested in a 16 year old as he was 50. I stopped in to zogs couple times after and the owner Julio f always with. A young teenager and he keeps a very lot food in the basement next to the cafe and sends these very young teenager girls down to the basement to bring food up for the cafe.Julio should be worried a lot of people had daughters that worked at zogs and they still can get a lawsuit towards zogs

Although I had seen some less than pleasant reviews on Cafe Zog I decided to give it a try this morning while craving a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich (something I have not found here as delicious as one in New Jersey). I went in, placed my order to go, and then waited..and waited..and waited for my food. I was in no rush as it was a lazy Sunday morning, but when I realized why it was taking so long I was a little turned off. They cook everything behind the counter on three little hot plates, cooking each omelet one at a time. Now, this could be a good thing however because of the special attention that is put into each omelet. And the cook, who seemed to be the owner seemed very proud at what he was doing, which was a plus. The eggs tasted great and they were cooked really well. The bacon was pre cooked and had that fast food bacon look to it. The bagel tasted way better than other bagels I have had in New England. The coffee tasted very off for some reason however, almost watered down. I didn't hate Cafe Zog and I did not love it either. Will I give it another try one day? Probably, for a bagel with one of their house made cream cheeses.

Stay away from this establishment! My fiancé and I decided to stop in this quaint little café for a quick bite to eat while shopping in the neighborhood. It was a Saturday afternoon and they were a bit busy. After waiting in line over 20 minutes (this should have been a sign to leave) we were finally waited on. We placed our order, a fruit cup for her (had to ask the girl at the counter 3 times to get it out of the display case) and a BLT for me. I was surprised to see there was no kitchen, rather, a woman cooking on 3 electric hot plates. 50 minutes later, still no BLT. How long does it take to make a sandwich? I told the girl at the counter forget about my order. I didn't even want my money back. I figured if it cost me $13 to get out of this place, it was worth every dime. I can't tell you how the food is because I didn't stick around to find out. If they had negative stars on Yelp, I wouldn't have given them a rating of one star. Save your money, go somewhere else.

This place is awesome. The guy who makes the food is very nice and friendly. The food is yummy, and you have to try the smoothies! There is a little back area with more seating, a little more private if you do not wish to sit outside in front of the cafe. There are tons of magazines and posters in the cafe to keep you entertained. Booths and wifi. love this place!

I felt so bad for the poor girl working here. Went in just for a coffee and someone ahead of me ordered something of their GIANT menu. It took her 10 minutes just to locate all the ingredients from several lowboys and under the chair in the back patio. They should probably cut down on the amount of things they offer, then focus on making them delicious!

How do you get food poisoning from a turkey sandwich? Eat at cafe zog ! I ate there once before for breakfast and it was also not very good. I have heard of two other people getting sick from eating here as well. And I agree with all these other comments about the staff being unfriendly and rude. I don't go here anymore.

During our visit to Cafe Zog, we drove down Wickenden Street looking for a "local" place to grab lunch. We stumbled upon Cafe Zog, thought it looked cute enough to try, so we wandered in. It was about 2:00 in the afternoon, so the place was basically dead. There were three young female employees working behind the counter. Everyone was very friendly there, but incredibly slow. Seriously...how long does it take to make/assemble cold sandwiches? Is 10-15 minutes a reasonable wait time? I think not. I ordered the curried chicken salad sandwich. I had recently discovered this delicacy at my local grocery store. It was a burst of fantastic flavors. It was just so-so at Cafe Zog. I guess the meat came from fresh chickens, though. There were a couple of bones in mine. Sigh... This place really has to get its act together. Were there no other applicants? And how about a non-crunchy chicken salad?

I found this place while in college. The owner back in the day was a fun guy! The funky monkey is still by far the best drink at zog It's clean, comfortable and a pleasant Place to hang out with friends!

Went here for a Sunday morning bagel, rugelach and coffee. Waited 30 minutes before I received my coffee and waited another 30 minutes before cancelling the rest of my order. How long does it take to put a piece of rugelach on a plate and smear some cream cheese on a bagel? The staff was so inefficient I watched 2 other groups cancel their order and leave during my hour there. I had heard good things, so i don't know if they had their b-staff on duty or what.

Disappointing. The coffee was fine. The food was mediocre. The service was not so good. My friend ordered eggs, and they came 40 minutes later. When she inquired about where they were, the workers seemed surprised. When they brought the food, they glared at her and were very rude. This icy reception seemed totally uncalled for. Next time I'll bite the bullet and wait in line at Coffee Ex down the street.
