This is a decent little lunch spot. After eating out pretty heavily my first couple days in Providence I wanted something light since I was looking forward to a big meal at Al Forno later. I'm also trying to avoid going to all the crappy big corporate places that the Financial District is full of, like Subway, Au Bon Pain, etc. I happened to notice this was a new location while on my way to lunch at Pot Au Feu the previous day, so I figured what the hell I'll give it a shot. First off, there is absolutely nothing French about the place, so don't be deceived by the name. There is a decent number of sandwich options to choose from, but again nothing too creative. They also do a special featured sandwich every day which rotates a different selection, plus a side and a can soda for just $5.50, a pretty decent deal. I went with the "Managers Special" sandwich (it's not a special apparently, just oddly named that). It has grilled chicken, sliced ham, roasted red pepper and melted boursin cheese on a French roll (no, this does not make you a French cafe). It was ok, the ham and red pepper were a nice complement, but I think overall it was a bit too salty and rather lacking in meat. The potato salad was decent too, and thankfully not loaded with onions, one of my major pet peeves. In total I think I got out under $7.50 with a drink, which is pretty good if you were considering hitting up one of the other "fast food" options in the area, but for a few dollars more there are definitely better lunch options even on the same street.

Terrible. Not clean or neat. Service slow around 3pm. Painful looking place. Not sure they will around much longer. Too bad, they could be good if they like. Needs work. Hope the owners read this.

I've been to 4 Cafe la France locations and this is the only one worth going to. It actually feels clean. There is nothing special about this little deli, it is pretty forgettable. They have a basic menu of about 10 sandwiches and a few breakfast options. I prefer the breakfast sandwiches. I'd stay away from the "chicken breast" sandwiches and stick to the deli meat.

I'm a big fan of their flavored iced coffees. Cinnamon Sticky Bun to be specific. The large is really a large and that is just what I need sometimes to start my day. Really sad that my office moved because this used to be right across the street but now its a bit of a walk and I can't grab coffee every AM like I used to. Good for my wallet though I guess. They have nice sandwiches with good flavors and decent prices for a light lunch. Really friendly service there too!!

This is an a-ok place to grab a sandwich for lunch in the downcity area. There is a decent sandwich selection and while the ingredients aren't very high end, it makes for a decent sandwich. The staff who works at this location can be hit or miss, which unfortunately affects the quality of the sandwich making. Unless you like extremely mayonnaise-y tuna, I'd caution you to avoid it. If you get the sandwich special, it's around $7 for a sandwich, bag of chips and can of soda, which is a fair deal.
