My boyfriend and I each ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich combo. It was huge and of course it's delicious! The fries were cooked perfectly! We also ordered Mozzarella sticks which were really good too! Before we left, my boyfriend got a Chocolate milkshake. It barely made the short car ride home with any left! The staff was really nice and the place was clean. I can't wait to return to try more.

Because they go by "Better Burger Company" i'm going to review them solely on their burger. This was the grossest burger I have eaten in recent memory. The black bean patty seems to just be back beans that are mushed together and then fried. It tastes like nothing, all you experience is texture. It also totally fell apart after two bites, but I guess thanks for anticipating that and having knives and forks next to the ketchup. The sauce on it? Super weak, wanna be guacamole. I appreciate that they offer wheat buns and have more than one vegetarian option, but it doesn't make up for the fact that their food is not seasoned at all.

Food, service, atmosphere - nailed it. Their timing on opening the restaurant, however - absolute bottom of the barrel zero-star. Of all the places I've eaten at on Thayer Street during my Van Wilder college career, BBC definitely would have jumped towards the top of my favorites list. So it pains me that BBC didn't open until after I had already graduated. It wasn't until a recent reunion visit that I had the chance to try it out. Though I didn't love waiting in line, I was happy to see how much business they were getting. It was graduation weekend after all, and I was pleasantly impressed by all the employees' friendliness. The blue moon burger was awesome. Cooked just like I ordered, and topped with fried onions and blue cheese crumbles. Okay, so it probably wasn't a freshly made ground beef patty, but still, I loved it. And that nutella milkshake, OoOoOwwEeEeEe that nutella milkshake. I've never heard "nutella" and "bad" in the same sentence, and BBC kept it that way. I would recommend using your free milkshake offer with a yelp check-in(!) to get it.

I was disappointed in the Classic Burger - simple ingredients but nothing tasted fresh - the wheat bun was old and dry, the burger gray and overcooked in some places, and the tomato slices were sad and mealy. Maybe their shakes and other menu items are tastier, I don't know personally, but a burger place should be able to make a good, simple burger really well. 2 stars for the friendly staff.

This place wasn't bad! I got the falafel burger and it was actually really tasty! A huge patty of falafel with hummus, lettuce, and tomato. The falafel was crispy on the outside, and nice and soft on the inside. My husband's burger while tasty, was cooked medium well (they didn't ask, so I'm guessing this is just the standard). It probably would have been better with a little more pink in the middle. The fries were fries, nothing to write home about. I'd go back for the falafel burger though!

Great milkshakes! All the other milkshakes are peasants compared to these milkshakes!

  • Qian Z.

The taste of the burgers are average (meat patties do not have a lot of flavor) but it's a hearty burger, pretty big, and the ingredients are always fresh. Fries are very good. Prices are very fair compared to the rest of Thayer Street. Get a big burger, a lot of fries, and a drink for less than $12 (and that includes tax). They have a ton of menu options and seating as well. Owner was always really friendly and warm. Staff for the most part is warm as well. Definitely has the feel of a family business.

BBC is one of the best late burgers on college hill. I remember the days in my freshman year, where I would just get so hungry and even around 12:52 am and BBC would be there to serve burgers and fries with a smile even though I came super last minute. They are so kind. They keep their place clean. This is one of the best burger joints to hit when you don't wanna spend all too much but you want a gourmet burger. Tip: Go at night when you are either famished, craving savory and greasy food, drunk, or having the munchies. Everything will taste like magic. Things will taste alright in lunch time. But for late night eating, this place shines. *I am writing a review for my experiences in the past. I no longer eat here often as a vegan-diet convert.

Went here to break fast for Yom Kippor. I ordered just a plain burger and fries. It was enough to last me a couple days! Very fresh ingredients, but the sandwiches were pretty pricey for a fast food joint.

First visit was cool. With my special diet they were accommodating with no hassle. Grilled chicken sandwich, lettuce, pickles, extra bacon and ketchup on a gluten free bun. Side of their delicious French fries. The grilled chicken was kind of on the pinker side which I didn't really enjoy but the second time being specific in a well done grilled chicken in my sandwich, it was prefect. The fries are consistently awesome. There's a mcdonalds miles from here and if you go to mcdonalds, come here instead for crunchy fries and hearty sandwiches!

One of my many cool nicknames is Laster "Burger Man" Greeves. So I think I am a pretty good authority on the subject of burgers. I've had almost every burger along the Northeast corridor - McDonalds (see previous reviews), 5 Guys, Fatburger, Bareburger, I've been to California and been to In N' Outs and other McDonalds there (are you starting to get the picture???) - so yes, I've had my fair share. I can tell when a burger isn't made correctly. I can tell when a tomato isn't ripe. I can tell when lettuce is moldy. These are my skills and I know how to deploy them. I came to Better Burger Company prepared to say that it wasn't in fact a 'better' burger. I was going to say it should be called Decent Burger Company (ha ha!). When the burger was handed to me I held it in my hand. It was a good weight, proper for a burger it's size. It had a good look, like something you might see in a commercial. I might go so far as to call it a handsome burger. But sometimes handsome burgers don't take as good as they look - this is my experience speaking here. I was nervous and my family could tell. Should I put on ketchup to mask the probable mold? No. Roll the dice Laster. You are the Burger Man. So i opened my jaw as wide as it can go and....that's when I blacked out. I came to 12 minutes later. I looked down at my plate, and my eyes widened. There was no burger in sight! I asked my daughter and she confirmed what I suspected - I had consumed the whole thing and didn't recall a minute of it. This happened to me back in 2006 at a burger joint in Framingham so I knew the feeling. I knew what had happened. I had tasted nirvana and had come back to tell the tale. Guys this is no "better" burger. No, no. This is the BEST BURGER COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Danielle D.

Disappointed with the service. The burger I got was 5.3oz chipotle burger and it was delicious though I got fries with it and they were $2.25. They only gave me a total of 20 fries, super disappointing. I feel like I've paid a lot more than I've gotten and the service wasn't anything special. I may try it again but I may not...

BBC offers an impressive selection of burgers for a local joint. You can add additional ingredients of your choice, switch up the patty by getting a salmon, turkey or falafel burger instead of a traditional one. There are also wraps and sandwiches on the menu, and you can even get a milkshake (boozy options included) to accompany your meal. However, quantity definitely wins over quality here. The falafel burger I ordered was large, but quite dry and not flavourful at all. Fries were solid though, I must hand them that. There's ample seating available here, and I like the diner-style atmosphere the joint has cultivated. Froyoworld next door makes for an easy dessert option if you pass on that milkshake. They're also pretty quick if you're just grabbing food to go. Pity that the burgers themselves aren't really "better" in any way.

  • Katalyst S.

Super num. Not nearly the best burger in Prov but if you're stuck on Thayer and you want a burger it's a good choice. Per usual, my only gripe is the price. I would still rather come here than a 5 Guys or a fastfood joint. I like when my burger tastes like a burger and BBC gets that done! It's just hard to be excited about a burger at BBC when I know it'll probably cost me at least $7 just for the burger and I know that there are so many other places in Prov that serve burgers, places I've yet to try.

While trekking the cold weather on Thayer, I walked into this burger place. I was initially pretty impressed by the varieties in which you could have a seemingly average burger with all the fixin's. Sadly, this was as far as "impressive" it got. I ordered their specialty Falafel burger. It was huge and it looked delicious. But alas, looks can be deceiving. At best, the burger was "OK." It was bland and dripping. Not the typical oily greasy drip that you get from succulent burgers. But watery tasteless drippings from what looked like the sauce or condiment they had on it. And a wheat bun that was falling apart. I do have to say though, that sweet potato fries and onion rings were pretty good. Free from excessive grease and fried to a golden crisp. Not to mention, their vanilla milkshakes. They were sweet, creamy and pretty darn delicious. If I were to solely review the side orders and milkshake it gets a 4 stars from me. But since it's called "Better Burger" I'm gonna have to say eh to that. "Blehger" is probably more appropriate. I would have given them a solid 4 stars had they experimented with little seasoning for sauces and flavor. It would go a LONG way. *hint hint*

Ok, got the cheese fries and they were made with REAL cheese. Plus, on a third visit I can say that neither me or my bf have gotten sick (he has food sensitivities that relate to things like soybean oil/sunflower oil and for some reason, red meat at other restaurants doesn't always sit well with me) so this is our go-to place for gluten free burgers and fries that don't make us ill. For what the restaurant is and what it advertises itself to be, it does well.

Better Burger Co. is a solid burger establishment. Sure, it's not the best burger and fries I've ever had in my life, but definitely a cut above your typical fast food burgers. I actually really like the BBC breakfast burrito! If you're planning on getting a burger alternative here, the breakfast burrito is one of the best things no the menu. I also appreciate the sweet potato fries. Definitely can't go wrong with those. Though I appreciate the effort with milkshakes, Johnny Rockets is just a mile above in the milkshake game, so if you have time to head down the street and grab the Johnny Rockets milkshake first, I'd do that before purchasing one here. They do have beer, burger and beer specials, and really big and diverse menu. Definitely a Thayer Street staple. You also can't beat the free designated parking.

Nice and clean place with clean restrooms. The chipotleburger was nice and big, nothing wrong with it. The spinach salad was very fresh. The chicken quesadillas was very hearty/heavy and kind of boring. The falafel wrap was really nice and extremly fresh. If I came back I would definitley order the falafel wrap again!!! It didn't taste so much but I liked its freshness very much, I spiced it up with some salsa and guacamole that I stole from the quesadillas and the dish became more fun. The wrapbread was also exquisitly soft and fresh! The fries were good and tasted like BK fries, in a good way. :-) A nice place! Nice girl in the cashier as well.

Please, for the sake of your business, learn what salt and pepper are. Your food is already vastly overpriced, and deciding that seasoning your meats and fries properly is optional will not help the situation.

Went there too sit out the blizzard while waiting for my bus. I ordered a bacon double cheeseburger and fries. And found them to be quite tasty. They are a bit pricey but you pay for quality here. I'd highly recommend them.

I've been here a bunch since it opened during my time at school in the area. There are some gems on their menu but the majority fall flat for me. Because of the name, let's start with the burgers. I often find that BBC overcooks their burgers. I like mine a juicy medium (pink throughout) but I have to order them medium rare here, and sometimes they still come out well-done. There are a bunch of different preparations, all of which are solid and give generous topping portions (I usually get the Ivy League). The one outstanding burger that I order almost every time I go here now is the Lamb Burger. It's juicy even when cooked through, and served with a slice of fried eggplant, red onions and Greek tzaztiki sauce. Definitely a hefty meal but absolutely delicious. Another thing here I love is the Nutella milkshake; a pretty unique flavor and a good treat if you aren't feeling like froyo from next door. Their fries (both regular and sweet potato) are also really tasty. I've also had their chicken fingers, grilled chicken, and a few salads, all of which weren't great but were passable. If you're in the mood for a lamb burger with fries and a Nutella Shake, this is your spot. Otherwise, find somewhere else for your burger fix.

I've had better burgers. The patty tastes frozen and it a bit tough and bland. I got the blue burger and it was just ok. I prefer Red Robin or even Johnny Rockets. The onion wings were pretty good though. The staff is nice. They also offer wraps. Perhaps that would be a better choice. At least they have private parking.

Vegans, beware! The menu says the black bean burger is vegan, but the bun it is served on is not! The cook told me the bun contains dairy and egg. Even the gluten-free buns are not vegan. The only way this burger is vegan is if you ask for it with no bun, or on a lettuce wrap - but this is not made clear on the menu, and they will only tell you this if you ask specifically about the bun. I do not think the "bbq aioli sauce" served on top of the burger is vegan either. Very misleading signage!

I eat at BBC because there aren't many alternatives on Thayer St if you want to eat at a burger joint. The burgers are not the best, but they are consistent and there is a nice variety to choose from. For some reason the meat is not very flavorful. I think this is because they don't use much salt, but hey, I'm not ordering a burger because I'm being health conscious. I also think that they lack good sauces, which I think often make or break a burger. Finally, the white buns they use taste horrible, but the whole wheat one's are pretty good. I think toasting the buns would go a LONG way towards improving the food. The restaurant is clean and I like the counters at the front that allow customers to people-watch while eating. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but honestly, it's there. Like, just there. What am i supposed to do!

I don't eat red meat, but they have lots of options for vegetarians and partial vegetarians. They have a "wholesome burgers" section of the menu with three burgers that have no meat, and a turkey burger, a salmon burger, a lamb burger, and a grass fed burger. They have great fries as well, and the free milkshake you can get if you check in on yelp is a must. I don't love the falafel burger, but it's okay. The turkey burger and black bean burger are my favorites. As far as the milkshakes go, the Nutella one is great. And the "milkshakes with a kick" are great as well. Convenient and relatively cheap, a good option if you want a burger and a free milkshake (which why wouldn't you want?)

I've been to this place twice. Disappointed both times. When asked how I wanted my burger cooked, I said, "Medium-well". I got home, and opened the wrap only to find it pink -red through-out. Also, the avocado tasted bad. Really?

Surprisingly awesome! I just got delivery last night and NEVER write reviews about places but I am so impressed with what they do I had to gush. I ordered the grassfed angus off the Wholesome menu... I think it's called the Farmers Burger, and it was amazing. I'm super picky with how meat is farmed and that they have this as an option is wonderful. The thing that got me however, was their Spinach Salad. WOW! Eggs, bacon, feta, grilled portobello mushrooms, tomatoes... I think that was it... superb! Not bad at all for a salad under 6 bucks! Totally worth it

I really enjoyed my meal from BBC this evening! Service was fast and friendly, they were very patient as this was our first time and needed a minute to look over the menu. I decided to be brave and try something new, the chourico burger. It was delicious! Cooked just the way I ordered and the best part was it was virtually grease free! I can't stand when a burger is so greasy the bun soaks it up like a wet sponge. Not the case at BBC. I felt full and satisfied and not like I just ate something that could kill me. My husband got a 10oz Chipotle burger. He really enjoyed it and was very full! His only complaint was that it was a bit heavy on the sauce, but he doesn't like a ton of condiment anyway and probably should have specified. We shared an order of cheese fries and they were great! Most importantly, the top cheeseburger critic himself, my seven year old son, LOVED his cheeseburger kids meal. Over all my family had a happy dinner and we'll be ordering from them again, next time I think we'll try delivery!

This really is a better burger company. Burgers are better than anywhere else in Rhode Island. They are tender, juicy, and have lots of flavor. For a burger place, I would expect good Greek food, but sure enough, they had delicious gyros. Good fries. When we went last year, they were taking a photo shoot with desserts, like a strawberry smoothie and ice cream. And they gave them away, free, to us and whoever else was in the store. YAY! Great service! Okay prices. Decor is lacking a bit, but is modern. Don't go to the frozen yogurt place next door when you can have a delicious coffee shake for so much cheaper. Payed a visit again to this place quite recently. Still amazing food, good prices. I love Providence.

Awesome for a good, quick burger. Clean bathrooms and great service. You gotta try the Nutella milk shake. It's a pain in the ass to make so be sure to leave a tip to show some love ;)

Friday night after awesome Kiss of the Spiderwoman performance at Stuart Theater - 4 folks - 10:45pm Parking avail (at one end of Thayer - parking lot), great selection of burgers and range of protein portions. Had house special burger with tasty sweet potato fries. All you can drink (self serve) soda. Wine available. Clean, super fast, friendly wait staff, and GREAT sizzling fatty burgers. A must for any burger fan. Hit the spot for sure!

  • Joseph H.

Not a fan. I was expecting creative burgers with tons of flavor and classic shakes to my dismay I got something worse than burger king. The burger was large but with no flavor and the shake tasted more of strawberry quick than any fruit I have ever tasted. It was nice that they bring it out to you but I will gladly stand around and wait for a number to be called for great flavor.

Went in there at 11 o'clock last night with a buddy. We witnessed what appeared to be the cook coming out of the bathroom and preparing food with no gloves. Not to mention the place was absolutely filthy! The one upside was the African-American girl at the register was super super super nice! Handling vegetables and bread related items not to mention meat without gloves on, not cool!

I will NEVER visit this establishment again. I ordered the fish sandwich -- I wasn't expecting too much and I had assumed it would not be fresh fish, but I thought it would at least be edible. The fish not only TASTED bad but it was also dark black inside. I am completely disgusted. The sandwich with fries was $12 - a total rip-off! I have never written a review, but this angered me so much that I had to create an account.

Best burger I ever had and the best fries in the planet The people work there are awesome. And location is perfect for just near the tunnel from RIPTA I just wish if I am always here to eat more :(

We stopped by here for a quick bite. Our burger was cooked perfectly and so delicious. We ordered Greek fries and they were a little disappointing. They were overly seasoned on the top but not much seasoning under and pretty dry. We got a free milkshake with a yelp check in. Service was great.

  • Leesha Z.

I can now say I've tried both BBC's burgers and their breakfast and if I had to choose one, I'd say their burgers are better. They are just the right size, juicy, fresh and made just how you want. The breakfast on the other hand was good, but nothing special. I got an egg and cheese on a plain bagel and my friend got the breakfast platter. The pancakes were a bit dry but the home fries weren't bad.. Good flavor. As far as the service, the staff is friendly and quick.

You really have to rate BBC after you have tried other burger places in the Providence area. Just like it says on the Yelp rating, I have experienced better. This isn't to say that BBC is absolutely terrible, it just isn't a restaurant that pops into my head immediately to go to on Thayer let alone the rest of Providence. I have tried such burgers as the Mexican and the Chipotle at BBC and they aren't the best but similar burgers at other joints wowed me a little more. Like other people have complained, they were a bit soggy. Ok if you are mediocre in your burgers, wow me with your fries or other sides. BBC does have some unique items, like Greek fries and the fact that the fries are cooked in olive oil. But I am going to be honest BBC, everyone carries sweet potato fries and onion rings these days. And is it just me or does it seem they really don't make their own fries, ala Five Guys. BBC you did look like you have a decent breakfast menu so I might partake in that someday, but you really won't hear me exclaim "lets go to BBC!" unless you improve the quality. QUALITY Better Burger, not quantity makes the restaurant.

  • Christopher B.

Short story- bad and not accommodating service. I recently came into BBC because it is one of the only burger places on Thayer. Walking in, I was looking at the menu, and a very impatient cashier was being pushy with us to order. I asked if I could swap out the lamb party for a turkey patty in one of the burgers, and she said that she would have to ring it up as a custom burger, which would cost about 13 dollars. The line cook in the back told me that he could do that, and the cashier was doing it wrong, but she would not listen to him. So we left. Service was subpar.

  • Madeline D.

The food is good but I'm sitting here right now listening to all the employees and the owner argue loudly about tips. I've also been waiting for my TO GO burger for 15 mins and the place is close to dead.

Came in here once for the free milkshake deal, and despite the fact that the employee seemed unwilling to accept the yelp deal, she gave me the milkshake nevertheless. The burgers are filling and the meat is cooked well

Despite the restaurants casual atmosphere and cleanliness, BBC's food overall really isn't up to par. Their burgers are pretty good and their fries a fairly enjoyable, but the rest of their food selection really doesn't cut it. The chicken tenders and buffalo wings I wouldn't recommend to anyone while their classic burger is the only real burger that stands out for me. And their desserts aren't really much to talk about either. However, as a saving grace, their chocolate shakes are absolutely delicious. Overall, BBC isn't bad, but there are better burger places.

Best Burger Company. Eh...I don't know about the "best" part, it's more "decent" in my opinion. I tried this place about a week ago with my manager from work. We both tried the Farmer Burger, which was made with Organic beef. The burger itself was ok, nothing too special but to be quite frank, I couldn't even tell the difference between their so-called "organic" beef and regular beef. I've had lots of burgers throughout my life and I can honestly say that I've had better. The bun was good though. The fries I didn't care for. Mine were soggy and had hardly any taste to them. If you're gonna serve the "best" burgers in town I suggest making better fries to go with it. I also didn't care for the staff attitude. The guy who gave us our food looked all but thrilled. The prices are a bit up there too. Maybe I'll try this place again, but maybe not. So far I don't think so.

  • Bryant F.

Have frequented this place a few times. The veggie burger is decent. Sweet potato fries are okay. Normally this'd warrant 3 stars, but I have had it with the manager. I accompanied a friend last week to Better Burger. My friend, of Brazilian origin, noticed the cashier was also from Brazil and naturally began to speak Portuguese with him as she placed her order. The manager quickly came over and said "that's enough of this, you can't speak anything other than English here." She pulled my friend aside and said "Look, I don't have anything against Spanish. You can speak whatever you'd like. But this is an American restaurant and as such, my employees must speak the official language. I can't have customers in line thinking my employees are talking about them in another language." I didn't know this kind of ignorance and cultural insensitivity existed outside of Fox News. I will not be returning.

I was really excited to try this place and in the end I was just disappointed. I like the options they have for size of burger and types of burgers, and I do have to say that the workers were really friendly. That being said, the burger did not shine. I ended up getting the classic - figured it was the best way to test the quality of the burger and made it a meal. Now there is nowhere on the menu that tells you that you can make it a meal, or what it costs to do so. Not a good start. I have to say that the fries are what shined in the end, not the burger. The burger really had no flavor and was fairly greasy. I don't like a place that relies on the toppings for flavor, the base should be flavorful itself.

Madeleine's Thoughts: After returning here for a burger treat late one night before Halloween, I found myself still pleased by the general tastiness that the BBC provides. I WILL give the place a new star this time around because they had Pumpkin Whoopie Pies and they were DELICIOUS. The Giants World Series game was also playing and the guy working there at the time happened to be a Giants fan (yay norcal!). The burgers were tasty, the fries... I am not a big fan of still, and the onion rings were great. It's a nice place to sit down in, eat a burger, and not have to walk all the way down to the other end of thayer where most of the food places are located. enjoy!

  • Natalie K.

I've given them a second chance and I just can't find redeeming quality to upgrade my review. The burgers are still just okay, but I find that my bun is usually a bit soggy. I've ordered delivery a few times and THREE times I ordered milkshakes only to have the driver arrive without them. That's ridiculous. They apparently can't find local addresses either...I don't live very far from this place, but the driver had to call twice to double check the spelling of my street and then double check it again. It's literally a 5 minute drive from BBC, right off of Hope St.....not hard. Sorry, BBC, I don't think I'm going to give it another chance.

Stopped in for a burger today. Not bad, not great. Sort of tactless bun with a patty that was perfectly round. Makes me wonder if it's all frozen meat with "matching buns". I wouldn't go out of my way to return to this place. Even the fountain soda wasn't mixed right...too syrupy.

I enjoy coming here. My boyfriend and I eat here at least once a week. We have tried their breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast could be better. I enjoy their burgers the most. The decorations are pretty cool too. The staff is always friendly. No complaints here!

  • Erik D.

I actually enjoy coming here on my lunch break. I suggest calling an order ahead since the big pit fall is it does take a long while for the food to come out. I love the Ivy Burger and the Chipotle Burger. They give you about a half dozen meat options...the turkey burger is sometimes great, sometimes I don't feel it. The regular burger with anything on it is rather consistent. The onion rings are some of the best! I love onion rings and these for some reason just hit the spot for me. The inside is fun, has a couple TV's, a couple of outdoor seats, a diner-esque bar to eat at and plenty of table seating. I usually just sit at the counter or bring back to my office. It's a great fast-food like option but totally fresher than other places.

I am completely dumbfounded that this place has anything less than five stars. Background info: I was on a 4 star cruise liner in Europe over the summer, and to accommodate my veganism they made me a veggie burger from scratch a few times. I swear, the veggie burger they offer here is literally better. And you can get a whole wheat bun! And really perfect sweet potato fries! And they top the damn thing with fried onion strings UGGGGHHHHH. It's so good. My coworkers enjoy it a lot, too. Great place. The service is okay. The cost is reasonable. I go like once a week. It's great. How many times have I said great? Is it annoying yet? BBC is great.

You know the episode of "How I Met Your Mother" where Marshall and Regis Philbin are on the search for the best burger in the world? Well, it's not here, folks. They might have some of the city's best fries, though. Decor is slammin', and had it not been quarter to five on a Thursday before my grad school class, I just might have tried one or five of their selection of bottled craft beers. Other than that, the burger was fine--not entirely tasteless, but not good enough to drive me back there and beg for more. The fries were light, crispy, and utterly addictive...I've been reading the reviews that say that they're fried in olive oil? Mama like. Give it a shot--it's a nice addition to Thayer. Just don't expect Marshall, Ted, Barney, or Regis to be there.

We LOVE the olive oil fries- both the regular and sweet potato. Their [fountain] diet coke is awesome also. Disappointing factors are the food takes a while to come out, and most of their non-meat burgers are fried (salmon, black bean). The turkey burger seemed pretty healthy.. not horrible for you. Have NOT had their breakfast, but saw someone who had it and it didn't look awesome. We have been here twice and happy both times. While you definitely won't have "the best burger you've ever had" here, it's still a great late night joint or lunch place-- fills you up without emptying your wallet.

This review may be a bit biased because I have food allergies. I am allergic to soy and it is darn-near impossible to find any food in this country that DOESN'T have soy. Thus, I cannot compare BBC burgers to, say, Paragon burgers because Paragon uses soy in just about all of their food. Except for lettuce. Even though the owner of Paragon also runs Andreas and BBC (Andrew Mitrelis). But I digress. In addition to knowing what foods do and do not contain soy, I always end up discovering the quality of the ingredients for all of the food. And when BBC describes itself using the adjective "wholesome," I can tell you that they're not kidding. I spoke to the store manager, and he gave me the following pieces of information regarding the ingredients they use: 1. The beef is certified organic, and it comes from Australia. Surprisingly, that's the cheapest way to get beef that meets the following standards: grass-fed, free-range, no growth hormone, no antibiotics, not genetically modified. 2. They only use 100% olive oil. That means the fryer, too. 3. The buns are soy-free, and you can choose to get a whole wheat bun. No fillers, no conditioners. Just bread from a bakery somewhere in Rhode Island. Now, about the taste. The burger tastes like meat. Not like spices, seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, etc. It just tastes like meat. If you want it to taste like juicy meat, then you should order it "medium." If you want it to taste like more than juicy meat, then that's what the toppings are for. My favorite is still the chipotle burger. The fries are crispy, light, and delicious. I prefer the regular fries to the sweet potato fries, but I'm a classic kind-of-gal. The onion rings are crisp and sweet. It's hard to make a good onion ring. Take-home message: It's hard to find food this fast, this cheap, and this delicious without having to worry about fillers (corn and soy), antibiotic-resistant bacteria (no antibiotics used on organic grass-fed beef), or growth hormones. People comment that the burger is bland, but I personally like my meat to taste just like meat. That gives me the freedom to dress it up however else I like. Keep it up, BBC.

Incredibly kind staff and delicious food! It is hard to find high-quality gluten-free options around Providence!!! (you'd think that it would be easier near the University campuses, but no) I come here more often than I'd like to admit... The chipotle burger is my favorite, and the chicken strips are crispy, tender, and GF!

This place has really slipped! We hadn't been for a while and tried again, and boy what a difference from our last visit only a few months ago! Are they under new ownership? The food was just so-so and the service was just terrible. We'll take our future business to Luxe Burger, which is a little pricier but has maintained its quality and consistency.

I had one chance to have something delicious on my short trip to Providence. Better Burger Company claimed to have better burgers, so I thought this would be a great quick lunch I can grab and go. The burger was dripping in grease and the sweet potatoes fries were soggy and seemed like there were frozen before dropping into the fryer. To top it off, I felt really sick about an hour or so later, making the drive back to Boston pretty miserable. I'm not sure what went wrong- but they should take some hints from B.Good and really serve a better burger- just because it is a whole wheat bun doesn't make it better.

The service has gone down very quickly. The chefs, however, have remained spotless. I loathe that feeling of inconveniencing the cashier with my order(AKA lazy employees). The cooks seemed to be accommodating to my order, but the cashiers told me "they didn't know what they were talking about." A friend of mine used to work here and never seemed to experience these problems. Something needs to change with the service, because I do enjoy the food.

    I actually gave this f i v e s t a r s but the y e l p f i l t e r only blocks this one five star review of mine. What gives? I'm enthusiastic about BBC because my son has severe food allergies, and when I find a place I like - I like to hype it on this review system. So * * * * * for BBC.

We are vegetarian and both had the veggie burger with onion rings and fries. We were both in the mood for this type of food (which is rare) and we were pleasantly surprised. The veggieburger must be their own recipe because it is thick and very flavorful - not like any that I have had before. The atmosphere is excellent.

I had such high hopes for the Better Burger Company. Unfortunately, I was let down. I convinced my fiance that "You don't make friends with salad" and we're getting burgers tonight. So I picked the Better Burger Company. It looked to good... When you walk into the Better Burger Company you are filled with an expectation that you have truly found Providence's Premier Burger Joint. Look around, this place has it all and you can see the grills! The menu is full of mouth-watering specialty burgers. How could this go wrong... Oh, but it did. I ordered "The Better Burger" this place's ultimate burger. If I am here, I might as well get their best. My fiance ordered the turkey burger (the wedding is coming up! no fatty red-meat burgers!). The Better Burger was bland & quickly forgettable and the sauce was tangy sweet in a bad way. The burger literally fell apart after a few bites much to my annoyance. I was not happy with it at all. The turkey burger was equally bad. I took a bite of it as my fiance scowled at me as if to say you chose this place and now I have to hit up that extra spin class this week to make up for this crappy burger. On a side note, the sweet potato fries were excellent. Maybe they should rename this place the Better Fries Company.

Wow that milkshake was sweet...it was free after all. (I used a check-in offer) I came in and was very nicely greeted by the host and quickly placed my order. The service is slow, but it was worth the wait since everything was fresh. They let you choose between wheat and white bread as well as the burger size and how well cooked it is. The price is well balanced, very reasonable considering its prime location on Thayer and the fact that it caters to mostly college students. The food was good but slightly too much on the sweet and salty side for my tastes. Thayer has been lacking a good burger joint and this place fills that need nicely.

Ya know, I saw the low ratings, but I thought I knew better. The name is "better burger" after all, so I thought it would be good. The one word I would use to describe my good would be Soggy. I ordered a hamburger and sweet potato fries, and neither of them tasted right. The hamburger was just a mess of sauces and yet it had no flavor. The sweet potato fries were not cooked all the way, and tasted more like raw sweet potatoes. On that note, the staff was very friendly and were very quick with the food. Maybe they were just a little too quick though.

Two stars for the Chicken Caesar Wrap? On a recent visit to the East Coast, we used Yelp for every meal. We never compromised for anything less than 3.5-4 stars, and we were never disappointed. In a moment of weakness when we were hungry and walking down Thayer street, the Yelp Deal for a free milkshake convinced us to give BBC a try. It goes to show how accurate Yelp reviews are. We were disappointed and I was the only one with a halfway decent meal because I didn't order a burger. The cheese fries looked awful, and the shake wasn't even good! So if you are forced to go here, try the wrap, otherwise I would pick somewhere else to go!

Very surprised by this place after only hearing average reviews. Came in late night (~11:45 PM) and was met with absolutely no line and only a 5-8 min wait for 2 burgers and fries. Staff was very friendly and my boyfriend's mid rare burger was actually medium when we got home (what was expected after a 20 min car ride, eating in would have resulted in a true mid rare). Lamb burger was delicious, although again, may have suffered structurally with travel times, as well as the Old Fashioned. Greek fries were also an interesting choice, however, they do require dexterous use of a fork due to ample and tasty, albeit non-melty feta. As a food service industry member, I greatly appreciated the quality and flavor of the food, as well as the late night hours (till 1 AM). Will be back in the wee hours again.

I don't have much time to write a revision, but I've been back here a couple of times lately: - Service has dramatically improved in terms of quality and speed - The burger ordering system is much more streamlined, and condiments come by default. - Food was great! I've increased the rating to four stars. BBC has really gotten its act together since opening.

I ordered a 10oz Chipotle burger and received a giant overcooked hockey puck that was very obviously machine formed. The sweet potato fries were lukewarm and overall I was unimpressed.

Ok I've eaten at alot of different burger joints! and I have to say not many are well mannered, attentive, or care! The staff here make the experience worth while. The menu is nice, I do like the fact you get a choice of the size of burger you want! 5oz / 8oz / 10oz white or wheat bread cheese or reg fries and onion rings! I have to say it's worth the trip! I enjoyed BBC and will return!

Please consider this a one off review and it was propably just due to the staff on hand at the time. I recently attempted to have lunch, after waiting over 30 minutes, went to the counter and asked the status. The counter person said that the order had not yet been put it. Other orders with much higher numbers had already been delivered to the clients at their tables. No apology was offered nor was any attempt to comp my meal (I didn't ask for this to occur either). It was all matter of factly. Don't know if I was speaking with a manager or just a lower level hired help. If the latter, would hope that they train them better in the future, if the former, clearly will not be attempting to order a burger here in the future. Was only looking for an apology.

Blech. I was hopeful leading up to their opening, but the burger I got was bland and dry despite not being overcooked. Add in that's it's not cheap and there's nothing else interesting on the menu and there's no reason to go here. If you want a burger on the hill go to United BBQ - since Byblos stopped making burgers they're the best around.

A fairly tasty burger. I have no complaints other than they put ketchup on my burger when i specifically asked for no ketchup. NO KETCHUP. (Say in the voice of Milton from Office Space)That little fopar aside, I enjoyed my burger and the fries were decent.

BBC was a 3 1/2 star experience for me this fine afternoon. Pretty good, but I can't quite say I loved it. I got the Ivy League on a wheat bun, it consisted of melted swiss, mushrooms and carmelized onions. Sounded tasty on the menu, and it was satisfying, but was missing something....didn't quite have the flavor I was craving and needed some sort of sauce or something, it was a wee bit dry. The fries however were outstanding, the highlight of the meal and I highly recommend them. I like a burger joint with a lot of options and Better Burger Co. does deliver there, many different variations you could create here besides the menu listings. Overall I liked it but def. not even close to the best burger in Providence. Five Guys serves a far more flavorful burger although the fries at BBC are absolutely superior.

Wow! This place is everything a burger shouldn't be, I wish I could have given zero stars. Come here if you want to learn what not to do when preparing a proper burger. Where do I start? How about frozen burger patties that are mediocre quality and also not seasoned at all. No salt, pepper...nothing. I find this inexcusable when it comes to burgers or any other proteins for that matter. To top it off, all "burgers" are killed to medium well. Bacon is sitting in a hotel pan and not even crisped up to order. The buns they use are way too large for the "burgers" they are serving, not to mention the buns were stale. I was hoping that growing pains were to blame but I have been there on 3 different occassions and ordered 3 different "burgers". No improvement whatsoever. I had high hopes for this joint, but it's just not good.

I drive down to Providence from Boston from time-to-time and always make sure I hit BBC. The customer service is impeccable. One of those few restaurants still in existence in which you leave the place feeling as though your business is genuinely appreciated. The burgers aren't priced like Mickey D's but you get what you pay for here-- they're made to order, generous in size, feature numerous available toppings, and (for an extra charge) come with excellent, fresh fries or rings. The place even took the liberty of getting a liquor license so you can down a cold one with your meal. Aside from the parking situation, what's not to like? They've got my business, for sure.

Never again! Service is deplorable! Waited over two hours! This place has good ingredients, I really want to give them my money but if they don't get rid of the dumb girls answering the phones... Twice I got transferred from one dumb girl to another! Please restaff because you offer good quality! And I feel so bad for your driver, wrong address @ 4. a gallon!

I enjoy BBC. The burgers are delicious and always cooked the way I want. The fries are awesome. Very crispy and tasty! The turkey burger is my favorite! It is HUGE and has avocado on it, which adds nice flavor. The staff is SUPER friendly! They are willing to accommodate any requests and on the rare occasion that they make a mistake, they will rectify it immediately.

Don't send takeout menus to neighborhoods you can't deliver food to in a timely fashion. I've ordered from here 3 times and today is the LAST. Every single time they gave me a delivery time of 45 minutes and I got cold food over an hour later. Today was ridiculous. TWO HOURS! Called twice and they lied and said the food should be there in a minute or two. The second call they lied and said the driver was approaching our door - yeah, she did TWENTY MINUTES LATER. The food is mediocre at best, we were simply ordering out of convenience. Never again!

I came here before going to the frozen yogurt place next door and had the Falafel Burger which i thought was a cool idea for a burger and get this: It was very good. AND....they didnt mess up the fries..nope they were hot and crispy. Next time I will try the Veggie burger :) Love the view of Thayer while enjoying the meal.

Decent food at fair prices. Fries are nothing special and they gave me the wrong burger, but I didn't notice until I had gotten back to my room with the food (it was some sort of gyro burger when I had ordered a regular--didn't charge me the wrong price though so I wasn't too upset). Coffee milkshake was cheap and filling but a little too sweet and not coffee-flavored enough.

I had the black bean burger and added a slice of Pepper Jack Cheese. First of all, I consider myself to be quite the veggie burger expert; be it garden, black bean or falafel. It was good, really. But not THAT good. I expect awesomeness from homemade patties, but I would have preferred just a morningstar chipotle black bean patty (note: this is different from morningstar spicy black bean patty). The sweet potato fries were thebomb.com . The prices were good. Its the kind of place that you order at the counter and they bring your food to you, which is nice if you like that sort of thing. Also, the boyf' said that it was the first time in a LONG time that he asked for medium rare and got medium rare. He got the Mexican and did enjoy it. He says "its good, but its no Five Guys." Whats cool about the meat burgers is that you can choose from three sizes and tons of specialty topping burgers.

A pretty good burger. Saw that there is a deal to get a free shake with a check in, so I said "Let's check this place out". Nice menu choices and very nice and welcoming staff. I got the 8 oz Ivy League (featuring grilled onions and mushrooms) and sweet potato fries, both of which I enjoyed & a coffee milkshake. Very thick milkshake, a little bit of a surprise there. My 10 year old had a basic burger without the lettuce & tomato. I know she liked it, polished it off before I could ask her if it was good. My oldest had the old fashioned and kept pace with me. They both had the regular fries which were nicely crisp and perfectly salted. ***Warnings: this is a hard spot for parking. On a weekend & while school is in is near impossible, so expect to walk a bit to get here from you parking space (if the Citizens Bank on the next corner is closed, park there & walk up or try one of the side streets off Thayer). Also, being right next to Brown, there might be some colorful language being used by fellow patrons. Overall, a pleasant experience, a nice little spot to take the place of the departed Stanley's over in the Jewelry District and a little different than the Johnny Rockets experience up the street.

Got to say that the salmon burger and grilled chicken were both major disappointments. Salmon burger was fishy and bready. The chicken just tasted like pepper. One order of fries and one order of sweet potato fries were both pretty tasteless. The servers were nice, though. Since we're not burger eaters, maybe going there was a mistake.

  • Aaron k.

had the ivy leage, blue moon, regular, and sweet potato fries. The meat itself was juicy and tasty, and the toppings (especially crumbled blue and fried onion strings!) were really good. Although I was at first suspicious that the fries would taste burnt from being cooked in olive oil, they turned out to be excellent (maybe they use a blend? I dont care). Overall a decent burger with good toppings, and a good value considering that they are supposedly locally sources, grass fed, hormone free etc. I would go back, and it'd be nice to try their breakfast foods or other sandwiches.

  • Efy M.

Service was good. A girl came by to ask us if everything was fine as we were eating our burgers, which is quite rare for a casual dining place that doesn't have waiter service. The burgers and fries were just okay. Nothing great but not bad.

    (3)
  • Andy F.

Nothing majorly wrong with the place but nothing all that great about the food. The decor is amazing though. I love the Providence murals. Pretty standard burgers. The patties are NOT seasoned at all... which suuuucks. They were a bit overdone. Condiments/toppings were fine. Fries were not all that crispy. Onion rings were good (and I like onion rings but they are pretty easy to do right). Its fine for a lunch but nothing to write home about, kind of like a lot of places on Thayer.

    (3)
  • Rachel S.

I always get the same thing: black bean burger on a wheat bun, no aioli. It's amazing, but be warned that it's bigger than your typical veggie burger. I would give it 5 stars, but it's kind of expensive (more than $7 for just the burger, no fries or drink).

    (4)
  • Jessica B.

After visiting the Better Burger Co. twice, I can honestly say that I might go again, if only for the gyro burger. That said, I have also tried the Better Burger, the fries, and the shakes. While both the regular and the sweet potato fries were consistently delicious, my Better Burger was dry and the sauce was not complementary to the flavors, and the shakes have nothing on the nearby Johnny Rockets. Service was always quick and friendly, so no points lost on that account. Still, the food is only worth two and a half stars on the best of days.

    (2)
  • Claudia L.

the 2 star rating simply doesnt do this place justice. the decor is funky enough, like a diner on crack. there is a large range of drinks to choose from, and trendier bottled drinks like MASH, sprindle etc. i am in love with their falafel burger - its got guacamole in it! however, everytime i order their sweet potato fries, they tend to get overcooked. i think they cook sweet potato fries to order because their default is the normal potato variety.

  • Alex R.

After reading all the reviews and walking by it all the time I decided to give it a shot. I was impressed by the selection and it took a while to decide what to order. I ended up ordering the largest Better Burger, which was very large and did the job. The only downside is I wasn't given an option to order it rare. I find most burger places that only cook to medium well sacrifice the true flavor of a burger. Aside the point, Better Burger Company is good but still has nothing on Fat Belly's.

    (3)
  • Michael M.

This place is so bad you have to think that any 5 star review is by the owners or their agents. Disorganized ordering procedure, way over priced, mediocre burgers, skimpy portion on the fries. Seriously, go to Wendy's if you want to a low end burger. Good burgers? Try Tazza (when the re-open) or make a pilgrimage to Bartley's Burger in Harvard Square, mecca for high fat delivered via beef.

The Better Burger Co. I wasn't planning on coming here tonight. The BRU deals caught my eye but I figured I mostly avoid Thayer Street since it's not funky anymore but so corporate that it should just have signs that scream "BUY ALL YOU SOON TO BE YUPPIES!" It's just not a place I want to be anymore. It's like visiting a dead relative's grave. You know they're there, but why would you want to visit the area their corpse is rotting in? I always feel sad visiting Thayer Street. I miss the desperate street kids and the independent stores. I know there are a few left but they're crowded by the consumers. This place is not a restaurant. It's a joint that is funky but not so trendy that you feel uncomfortable sitting in the small tables with your buddy. Sunday night it was filled with college kids and one Father/Son couple. The tables are formica small. The dining room has a mural painted on the walls that isn't obnoxious, done in desert tones. There's a television on the wall. It is a bright and cheery place. This place replaces the Oriental store that was here for years. The clerks bring out your food to your table if you eat it here. And the clerks are friendly which is a big plus on Thayer Street. The burgers are healthy. They are not greasy spoon juicy. They are good. The buns are oversized and dry. Maybe it's because I got the whole wheat bun IDK. I ordered the Blue Moon Burger (crumbled blue cheese, mushrooms, and fried onion rings,) it was good. The toppings were not sparse but they were not overwhelming either. Car got The Better Burger, (a 10 oz patty with cheddar, Chourico, fried onion strings and Bourbon sauce,) much tastier than mine, I wished I'd ordered that instead. You can decide to have a small 5.8 oz, medium 8 oz, or large 10 oz burger patty which is nice. I got the 10 oz. We also got fries with the burgers mine were warm and almost limp. Whatever, I've had worse. Car had fresh hot fries and they were good. They're fried in olive oil. It makes them "healthier". Again, whatever. After eating our meal we were still hungry. We ordered the chili fries and the onion rings. They were good too. Car was impressed that they had kidney beans in the chili that was over the fries. I guess I was, too. Car also ordered a strawberry "shake". It was kind of weird. Car said to watch out for the syrupy taste but that it wasn't bad. Whatever it was made from it didn't taste like ice cream which is what I was expecting. It tasted like some kind of creamer filler. I'm not a fan of shakes anyway. Since car already warned me of it tasting a little weird I assume that that is not a good sign. I am wary when something tastes unnatural. I feel bad about being "Meh" about this place. It's not a bad place or a mediocre place. It's just not GREAT. It's a burger place for the local college kids really. It caters to people that believe in the faux "health" BS that is being touted by Mc D's that wants to sell you "healthy" burgers or fast foods. I have news for you people, if you want something healthy it's not a burger or any convenience food. I miss Ruby's. Any way, the staff is very, very nice and the place is clean. It's a better place on this soulless strip. It's a little bit better than Au Bon Pain and their stupid "French Fast Cuisine". I miss diners. I miss the IHOP that used to be up the road. No pretensions of health at the IHOP. At least back then. Well, they do have a "health" part to their menus now but you gotta survive so you cater to the grand mediocre masses. Okay long story short: go to a real diner for a real burger. This place is okay for this area. There's a reason I didn't buy a "BRU Deal" for this place. I'd go here if I was stuck on Thayer Street like we were tonight. I was expecting Indian so maybe I'm seriously disappointed and my attitude is showing through because of that fact. This place is nice. And all those noncommittal adjectives you use for things and people that don't strike your fancy but don't offend you either. Bon frickin' appétit. I just went to their website to see if they delivered. I can't tell but the reason I'm jotting this in is in their "story" it says they've served RI since the 1960's but they're "The New Kid on the Block"? And it seems none of the links on the page work quite right. Oh well at least I could get the menu.

I've been coming to BBC since I was a freshman at Brown. I really like BBC's healthier choices because I always feel guilty getting a burger and fries. Their olive oil fries are some of the best I've ever had, and their Gyro burger is amazing. The price is good and the atmosphere is great when Im trying to get work done. Definitely recommend.

I had really good service when I went, maybe because it wasn't very busy at the time. I got the gyro burger with lamb. It was pretty good. I went with 3 other people and they got the chicken wraps. It wasn't anything amazing, but we were really hungry and wanted to try it out because I passes by it so many times. Probably wouldn't go back, but I didn't have a terrible experience.

Open late, which is nice if you are in a bind. Otherwise I'd recommend other places. It's not bad, in fact the service is super friendly, accommodating. Unfortunately there are just so many other great food options around here that this one with average food really doesn't stick out.

Not sure about earlier reviews, perhaps they just had a rocky start... Thought the service was fast, friendly and- the reason we were there ( the burgers) were great. it is sort of like a chipotle for burgers, fresh, prepped before you and brought to your table when ready. Good addition to Thayer.

I went to try this place out say two weeks after it opened. I was extremely disappointed with the outcome of this visit. The people taking my order were poorly trained and seemed confused as to how to work the registers with the manager standing right beside them coaching them along. I noticed they have a sign taped to the register saying how all their burgers are cooked to order. Thats a crock of BS. After I placed my order I waited and when I was given my order it was COMPLETELY wrong. Not a single thing about the burger was right. They left everything I had asked for off. Surprisingly enough the owner was sitting at the table behind me and heard me complaining to my boyfriend about the poor burger. He asked me what I had ordered and took my burger and went to change it. Little did I know this was a senile old man who really wasn't listening at all. Brought me some other burger that was still completely wrong. I decided to quit complaining because I felt it was a battle I wasn't going to win without getting really frustrated. I had the hope that the burger would be worth it even if it wasn't what I originally wanted. The bun was stale, and the burger had the texture/taste as if it were sitting in a steam tray (NOT cooked to order). Gross. The only thing I can say that was nice about the meal was the fries were good. But a burger place is not judged by its fries. For the price of the meal as well your better off going to Wings and Things which is right around the corner and its cheaper and way better.

Ok, the food is still above average to good, but my one complaint is the service. And I'm not an anti-service person, and I understand it must get overwhelming serving snobby, picky Brown kids, but for some reason the people behind the counter have zero interest in helping someone out. The last time I went a few weeks ago, they just changed their menu board again, and so I walk in suddenly having to absorb new choices. Maybe they don't know what's changed either. So I order the burger basket, which I've got to think is a pretty common order for a combo, and the girl goes "Whhhhhaaaaaaa???" and starts frantically turning around looking for someone to explain what that is. She finds disinterested "That's not my station, I don't care even though I've been here awhile, it's not my job to help you" girl who bleats out some code that the confused girl punches in. Confused/stoned girl mumbles something incoherent and laughs at herself. Of course, she has no clue what I just ordered beyond the number she was told, and certainly can't help me as to what my options are with that. Look, it's cool if you are new, and just learning, but good lord try to make it LOOK like you know what you are doing as you ask someone for some help. And speak up. It's so noisy near the counter, I need you to speak up. Of course, my burger arrived at my table without lettuce and tomato which was supposedly standard. Whatever. Which really is the attitude. Hate to be a grump, but I can see why some people get annoyed at what goes on there.

Good, not great. Hopefully they'll improve with time, as they've just been open for a few weeks. The fries were good--fried in olive oil, which adds flavor and reduces the guilt a tad. The burger was good but I don't get why they must all be cooked medium-well. Perhaps this actually is a health dept. regulation, but if so, it's unfortunate! Plus, they really should be using lettuce other than iceberg--it's 2010!
