If you are looking for authentic, high-end, fine dining style Chinese cuisine, you should look elsewhere. And might I add, this is Pawtucket afterall, not Seattle, so you should reexamine your expectations all together. But I digress. Great Taste is a hole-in-the-wall on Newport Ave delivering huge portions of hot, tasty, ever-so-slightly-greasy and super cheap American-style Chinese fare. Delivery is always quick and in 10+ deliveries, I've always recieved exactly what I ordered. My usual pick is the Szechaun Shrimp with Lo-Mein. My hubby always orders the General Tso's Chicken with fried rice. The Won-Ton soup and Crab Rangoon are my favorite apps. All menu items pair well with beers on a Friday night and have been shown to dramatically reduce hangover symptoms on both Saturdays & Sundays.

This is my 2nd review. I just absolutely love their food and the people here are friendly and wonderful. Their coconut shrimp is EXCELLENT!!! I eat it as often as I can. And the Thai mei fun is perfect!!! I love all their food. I'll always be coming here :)

Don't confuse this with Best Taste. I did and was seriously regretting it. Food was terrible. Best Taste is the one you're looking for, promise!

This is the worst Chinese I have ever had! The chicken was rubbery and obviously microwaved. The seasonings were most likely out of a bag. And being a guy who eats everything it was pretty sad when I couldn't eat more than 2 bites of my chicken and broccoli before I had to order a pizza! Don't make the same mistake we did go somewhere else....

Great price. Food had a lot of flavor and was not greasy and soggy. Love that beef with broccoli and shrimp came in plastic container and not Chinese Togo box, was able to cover and put right in fridge. Def going to order from here, from now on.

Another typical Chinese delivery joint. Essentially the sister restaurant to "Best Taste," Great Taste offers a similar menu but a few different options. On the upside, for no extra charge, you can order a combo with chow mein instead of fried rice (yum)- something surprisingly rare for delivery. On the downside, they make no effort to separate the food.. making for a soggy, disgusting mess with I ordered crispy chicken with the chow mein. The second time I ordered, while I requested different containers and was given the mighty "OK," once my food arrived, still, same result. Ugh. The food is ok, the fried rice a little greasy and the chicken fingers tasting like they'd been sitting out in a heat pan for an hour or so. Not very fresh. The price is right however and I do recommend their chow mein which was steaming hot and with lots of juicy meat. It's pretty much a hit or miss depending on what you order: I wouldn't bother with anything that's supposed to be "crispy" as it seems they leave things out. The stir frys are mighty good though. Plus they accept credit cards over the phone.

Not great, but not bad either... I had the General Tso's chicken lunch special. Basically it was fried chicken pieces smothered in some pre-made sauce. I wouldn't write home about this place but if you're in the mood for Chinese food and in the area I wouldn't tell you not to go either. Prices were very affordable...

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
