most chinese food in america has nothing to do with actual chinese food, and everything to do with syrupy neon glazes that imbue whatever fried meat they're coating with the mystical power of eventually giving you prostate cancer. it's a pretty special treat then to stumble across this place that serves up authentic, typically reallyyy hard to find sichuan cuisine. i tried a bunch of different dishes with increasingly alarming looks from the staff on how much i intended to pack down, but the food baby was totally worth it. pork chili dumplings were great, and i finally found some ma po tofu that's the real deal. the staff was super nice, but being the only person in the place that didn't speak mandarin i feel like i got the white person treatment - aka the heat level was toned down for my pasty, mayonnaise and wonderbread loving ass. this was quickly rectified when i asked for the dandan noodles to be extra spicy, and next time i know to let them know I'm in it to win it with the spice levels. honestly, that's not a big thing to deal with when I'm getting the best sichuan food i've had outside of montreal.

Chengdu Taste is by far the best, most authentic Szechuan cuisine in Rhode Island. It is NOT your typical American Chinese food, and if that is what you are looking for, please do not go to Chengdu Taste. Szechuan cooking is a style of Chinese cuisine originating from Sichuan province in southwestern China. It has bold flavors, particularly the pungency and spiciness resulting from liberal use of garlic and chili peppers, as well as the unique flavor of the Sichuan pepper. Other distinctive flavoring agents in Chengdu Taste's dishes include ginger, garlic and sesame oil. Star anise is used as a spice in many of Chengdu Taste Szechuan dishes, and peanuts are also a common component. If you want to have truly genuine, spicy Szechuan cuisine Chengdu Taste is the place to go. If you don't want to embrace authentic Szechuan cuisine, and eat nauseating sweet and sour chicken stay away Chengdu Taste.

I LOVE ChengDu Taste. Definitely the best Chinese food in town, and the only place you can get authentic Sichuan food. I give it five starts for food and service. It's a cozy little restaurant with maybe 6 tables, but they do often accommodate large groups. I would highly recommend trying the cold bean noodle, any of the fish dishes, the green beans, and snow pea leaves with garlic sauce. It's also BYOB -- which is a plus.

When it comes to authentic Szechuan taste and flavors, Chengdu's really got it down right. The numbing taste of the chilly peppers, the overall ambiance, and the customers only consisting of Chinese speaking young couples really speak volume to the kind of authentic food that this place offers. That being said, it would have been better if I could have eaten any of the dishes as the pure salt content from the pickled vegetables to the steamed eggplant could make the healthiest athlete go into full congestive heart failure. The food is SOOO SALTY! I loved the flavors, but please, tone down the salt content. As for the food, some were like it and hate it. The lamb was seasoned well, but it came almost lukewarm/cool as soon it came to our table, which was awfully disappointing. The beer-duck was an interesting choice, but the amount of duck served was grossly disappointing for the cost and also too salty. I enjoyed the szechuan noodles, but that could have been the only dish that didn't cause my legs to explode in pitting edema. The service was excellent; there was only one waiter/owner and he took care of all of us with speed and great courtesy that is almost eerily uncommon in most Asian restaurants. My teapot was also filled with the upmost haste, which was important since I couldn't stop myself from drinking fluids. As you can see, my poor experience was limited to the things I couldn't eat, and the price/dish was pretty high. Please make some adjustments and I would love to return. My folks did like the dishes, but also thought they were too salty. Food: 1-2 stars Price: 2 stars Service: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars (super Asian family vibe, which I liked)

Excellent and authentic Szechuan food in a cozy atmosphere. We were delighted by the pork dumplings in chili sauce, and some classics like Kung Pao Chicken (has peanuts, but no szechuan peppers, but come on, where have you ever seen real szechuan peppers this side of the pacific?), Eggplant in Garlic Sauce, and General Tso's Chicken, all with a nice authentic taste. Parking is available, which is a plus in shady-Pawtucket. The server (maybe owner?) was very attentive and friendly, and he brought out a high-chair for our toddler. All in all, Chengdu taste is now the top of my list for Chinese food (not Cambodian, Japanese, Korean - Chinese!) in the Providence area. I strongly recommend you try it.

I yelped this place before I went there and honestly didn't realized that most of the yelp users were biased and fake. I didnt see what everyone is raving about.... The food was just okay. I ordered take out. I got the lunch special and Dan Dan noodles. Everything I ate from the fried rice to the chicken it was just so salty. And for the Dan Dan noodles, I'm just simply not a fan. The staff was wicked nice. I guess this is the best place for Chinese food in Pawtucket But I probably would not come back here.

Delicious! Great for dim sum, the steamed juicy pork bun (soup dumplings) are to die for and everything is flavorful and fresh. Very attentive service and basic but clean and comfortable decor. Egg drop and wonton soups both great! Veggies tasty! Yum.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
