2 Fresh taco combo plates with choice of 2 tacos, rice, refried beans and 2 drinks to go for $21?! What's the catch? Nothing...except they don't deliver! This place is great for take out tacos. Fresh, tasty, plenty of options, awesome hot sauce (go green!) and quick service. There's also plenty of seating and waitress service to eat in if that's more your speed. My only complaint is the tv in there! It's always blaring "Basketball Wives" or another lousy show of the like. Park on the street, and don't be shy, give new California tacos a try! :-p

This is probably the best thing I have discovered about my new neighborhood. $1 tacos on Tuesdays. A massive burrito combo for $9. Cute little place to eat and can even sit outside or get orders to go. There's only a couple people running the operation, usually a waitress, someone at the register and whoever is in back turning out tacos as fast and well as they can. Refried beans were tasty, my veggie burrito was super stuffed. The chips made in house. The rice wasn't much to phone home about, but that's ok, just get the hot sauce they make in house (if you get your food to go they will hesitantly ask you and then furnish you with 2 little shot cups of it). The menus don't really have descriptions, so I would watch out for that if you're not familiar with everything they offer.

I happened to find this place because of a sign on the road. I hate at another Cal Taco in Providence and they both were better than they were bargained for. They have a wide variety of items on their menu and also tacos, about 8 different ones to choose from. This is definitely a place I'll come back too again and again. It's small, out of the way, but nicely done on the inside. They make everything fresh to order, so it does take a bit of time, but well worth it. I suggest to anything that in the Pawtucket, Attleboro areas, try this place, you'll agree this it;s good.

This is a great, local taco shop that this area of Pawtucket definitely needed. It's a small place. I've only been there once and ate there, but the waitress was very attentive and not overbearing at all considering it was only us and one other table there. They give you free chips and salsa, which were really great, and my friend and I split a pizza quesadilla with chicken. It was HUGE and only six or seven dollars, I think. They have a homemade hot sauce that the waitress offered and it had really great flavor. Overall: very affordable, fresh, and delicious. Can't wait to get takeout or return to eat-in!

I sure do love me some tacos and this place didn't disappoint. This was a pleasant addition to the food choices in the area. The food us good, I would say though for the price they could put a little more meat in their plates. Not saying it's expensive in any way but it was lacking in the main ingredient. I've been twice and def plan on coming back. I'm looking forward to trying some of the sandwich combos with a Mexican twist

Amazing food and amazing service. The burrito is a must try. Between all of us, we tried the carnitas, chicken, al pastor, and seafood. Everything was delicious, and had tons of flavor. And if you dine in, they give you free chips and salsa that is to die for. Thick, crispy chips and the most amazing salsa. The best part was the guys working there---so unbelievably nice and accommodating. If you're in the area, it's worth trying out.

This was my second trip to California Taco, and both trips have been excellent! Large portions, fantastic homemade salsa and chips, great service. We have tried taco combination.. two double wrapped soft corn tortillas with great pork (Carnita) and flavorful pico, rice and beans. Also a great place for a burrito. Call ahead for take out (10 minutes and it was ready). It was a bit hot in there if you planned to sit in during the summer.

Original, authentic Mexican food that's fresh and delicious. We had some of their homemade hot sauce and out of this world chicken tacos. They are friendly and really welcoming. Plus, they gave me some of the flavored waters that they make there -- the mango water was great but the hibiscus water was even better. Great bet for takeout or stay in and definitely in my plans to go back soon!

I love authentic Mexican food, but this just tasted bland and the food quality was not great. The steak was dried up bits of meat and the chicken was shredded and stringy. The shake literally went sour as I drank it; not sure what was in it.

While out on a walk I came across this place and decided to bring the family back later. Nice little place with outside seating and easy parking. Good service and I was impressed with the food, although they could have added more chicken to my quesadilla. The price can't be beat and it is hard to believe this is a chain. I will most surely go back.

The best tacos, burritos and chimichangas EVER! Can't wait to get to the rest of the menu. Love this place!

Great for a quick lunch while we were in the area. Very reasonably priced, especially compared to some alternatives in the general Providence area. The shrimp taco was T-A-S-T-Y! The order of "salsa and chips" also came wiih guac, sour cream, pico de gallo and hot sauce all on the side. Good deal for the price, though their chips were very thick and sort of bland. I'll definitely add this to my list of options when I need to get my next taco fix.

The food was pretty good. But I agree service way less then so-so at least the 1x we went and was a pretty slow night. But food was good enough that I would risk the service or just take out. A revision even take out somehow doesn't manage to ever get it right.

Great place for Mexican takeout food. Has all high quality ingredients. You will notice that after the first bite from any of their menu items. All in all very good. Will keep going back.

Stumbled across this place today and so glad I did. If you're in the mood for real Mexican tacos, is the place for you. for five bucks I got two great Carne Asada tacos. Fresh ingredients clean clean place. I'm a fan

Saw this place $1 taco sign out front, so I swung back with two of my kids later. Food was ok (a little dry) Service was a little below standard looked like they only had one person working so I guess I can excuse some of it.. No napkins or eating utensils were ever given or sauces offered.. But fed 3 for $15 so The price point might draw me back.. Place was slow and it's pretty much street only parking so if they are busy that might cause an issue.. The dining room is very small I would not recommend this place for large families... I'd go here vs a tacobell..

We are a big fan and love the convenience of being walking distance from the house. The burritos are huge and delicious and you can't beat the shrimp tacos. The waiter is always courteous and pleasant and they are very quick to get your food ready to go! Will definitely be back!

Great fresh food, great service, always something good on the TV (steve wilcos, scarface). Wish it were bigger as it is becoming a "hot taco spot".

I love it here, great food for a great price and within walking distance. Staff is always friendly and courteous. I think this is a chain, but the food really tasted authentic. I can't wait to go back.

This place is AWESOME. My neighbor suggested we go there. She was very happy with the place. We ordered to go. The guy behind the counter was SOO helpful. the food was soo good...been there a couple of times since. Tacos were great and a good size...as were the burrito (chicken) which were also a decent size, and the chips and salsa. I was hesitant to review this place for fear it would get overly busy, but I am not that mean. :) I have found my new staple taco/burrito place.

First issue, I called in for take out and the man who answered didn't even know what kind of enchiladas they sell. I even questioned if he even knew what an enchilada was. Fine maybe he needs to brush up on the menu because "I dont know" is not the best answer. So I decided to dine in instead and see how it was. Not a good idea! The meats were rubbery and dry, obviously not fresh. Too bad cause I wanted to love this place!!!!

When you walk in it is pretty confusing as to whether it is a sit down and order or order at the counter and take a seat. The service was below exceptional. The food was disgusting. Probably a step up from Taco Bell.

The food is ok. I think it's expensive for what it is. You have to pay per drink (no free refills) and the service is so-so. If you really are looking for great authentic Mexican food try El Azteca on newport ave.

Compared with Huarache, the restaurant on this spot before California Taco, this place is great! Love the large burritos (I would compare this the best of dozens of places I've been to in California). The fish tacos are pretty good also. My son came in with me a few weeks ago and he liked the burrito he had. He eats out a lot in NYC. Service was decent.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
