Ah Newport Grand. I wish I knew how to quit you! You're absolutely disgusting, and you never pay out, but when I have an itch that only gambling will scratch, well heck you're always there for me. Newport Grand has some of my favorite slots, and I love that the upstairs is a guilt free zone for smoking, as the upstairs is now smaller than the downstairs. If you only served free drinks and better food!

Always have a good time there, I think the slots are a lot looser than any casino in CT! Love the local home-town feel. The small dining areas are very decent and be sure to get a rewards card, the points here add up 10 times faster than those at Twin River and they always give us tons of free slot play to make a quick stop in always worth it! We've won more money here than any other New England casino, and we've frequented them all :). Only disappointment I have is all my favorite slots are upstairs in the " cough-cough" smoking area, so I prefer to go during the week to play my favs while being able to breath, all this could change soon tho as we may be expanding into a full size casino in the near future --- weeeeeee ;-).

Omg. Didn't last 10 minutes in this place. Spent $20 in 45 seconds and only hit $0.20 cents. I think some of the people were on their death beds... Avoid at all costs!

Not a destination drive. It is a hike to get to from an Interstate, and it is not worth it. They spiffed it up since the last time we were here, but it is far from "Grand". There are very few nice touches to the place. The promo shots provided to Yelp show delighted folks, but it is of course in reality sad folks spending more than they should at a low end place. They did have Newport Storm on draft at the bar, that is a good thing. There were no lines for the Cashiers or cashout machines as there are perpetually at Twin River, but the place had far fewer people per square foot the day we were there compared to Twin River. They had a different take on filthy chrome at this facility. Instead of just leaving it gross like Twin River does, someone took the time to carefully buss down entire rows of machines with apparently a dirty cloth or foul water. The strolling fully armed security lent a really classy touch to the place too. I always like to try to relax in places where I have to worry about hoodums besieging the place and perhaps getting popped

Well, my grandmother certainly likes Newport Grand. After my grandpa hit a few thousand on the slots here a couple of decades ago while Newport Grand still had Jai-Lai, she became convinced that NG was her "lucky" casino even though she rarely even breaks even there anymore. When I take her out for some "quality time" I try to take her to Twin Rivers or Foxwoods where there's at least walking space and a few non-gambling things to do while she plays but at NG there is nothing. A couple of bars, a cafe, and a sit-down restaurant are all the Grand has to offer, and they're not afraid to give you the stink eye if you bring in outside beverages, like a cup of Dunkin. Avoid at all costs, there's way funner ways to blow your cash in Newport than spending even a dollar at this dive.

Been here a bunch and let's just say that your odds are non existent. Have fun kissing all your money goodbye. Gambling is only fun when the establishment gives you a CHANCE.

This review is for the restaurant (Grand Grille) at Newport Grand. I've been a regular at Newport Grand for a the past 20 years, just going in to play, sometimes having lunch or dinner as well. Grand Grille has been there since the last renovation and we've eaten there countless times, and have never had a bad meal or bad service there. There is a huge variety in the menu, including daily specials. You have the option of paying with cash or points from your rewards card. My most recent meal was today, Easter Sunday. It was just the two of us, so cooking was out of the question. We decided to play for an hour or two before eating and met at the restaurant late afternoon. Checked out the specials, which looked fantastic. The restaurant was fairly busy for that time of day, but we were seated right away and our waitress came right over to take our drink orders. My mom decided on the turkey dinner and I've been craving chili, but ended up getting the nacho's because it just looked like more. A regular dinner would have been nice, since it was Easter, but I wanted spicy. Our waitress recommended the smaller version of the Nachos Grande, and I'm glad she did, because I barely managed to eat 1/3 of them!! Both dinners were excellent, the serving sizes were huge, my mom's dinner had a lot of turkey, stuffing, vegetables, mashed potatoes and cranberry.. more than one person could eat in a sitting. Service was fast as well, and our waitress was very attentive. The restaurant itself is always clean, everyone is friendly and helpful and theres a bar if you want to play Keno or lottery games while you're waiting. The rest of the place is nice as well, the downstairs is very quiet, but the smoking area upstairs and the non smoking room are huge, great variety of games and the place is always spotless. Regular and plainclothes security is always nearby, and I've always felt safe there, even at night. They also have valet parking, I use it every time, its just safer and easier. All the employees are friendly, there are also small snack bars in both casino area's, The one in non smoking offers a lot more than the smoking area one, but you certainly won't starve there! I always enjoy spending a few hours here, having a drink or two and playing.... yes, its a gamble.. but that's what you're there for.. and don't forget to sign up for your rewards card, they have great promotions, and shows as well!

Very low paying slots at best. It was grimey and there is no reason to stay more than 5 minutes. Highly disappointing

If football is your thing and you don't like the Patriots, Newport Grand is an alright place to catch the game. The bar food is edible, the beers are reasonably priced, and they'll actually have every game. This is especially awesome if you don't feel like braving the crowds and/or douchebaggery at Tickets.

You know what? It's no worse than Twin River, really except there's only one place to eat and it's smaller. Machines still cost a fortune, but some games like Wheel of Fortune and the Lily Tomlinson slots have decent games regardless of how much you spend. All around, I wasn't horrified and I'd honestly prefer to come here over dumpy Twin River if I had to choose.

Everything every other reviewer here has written here about the ambience and the help is completely true. We went here on a weekday morning and we were the youngest customers here by about twenty years. Since it was daytime, there were NO complimentary cocktails. Is this only offered at night, or at all? We ate in the only dining spot on the premises, and the food was fine for what it was. The service was sllooooooowwwwwwwww though, and it wasn't cheap. So why three stars? I won big! We went back the next day, and I won again! Any casino where I can win (BIG!) gets my recommendation.

Beware of this place. It is an older casino/Jai Lai (they did away with the Jai Lai) establishment that sits on the outskirts of beautiful Newport in a tough area outside the Naval Base. The place is a monstrosity sitting on a hill and fills up with really scary locals coming out of the woodwork hoping to cash in here. What it amounts to inside is a nasty place that smells like old smoke and looks like it is out of the 1970's. It has all digital casino slots (1 cent and 5 cent and 50 cent) and a lounge with really scary acts playing and just an all around mess. It touts itself as a professional casino but since the Jai Lai is gone, it leaves a bunch of slot machines in a badly decorated split rooms. The staff is half asleep and they could care less what goes on here. This place looks like it is on its last legs and should really think about closing. Not sure what is keeping it open!
