You can have authentic Chinese food and American Chinese food. I strongly recommend having real Chinese food which is an amazing experience.

Incredible service and good food. We ordered beef chow fun (rice noodles) and it was cooked to perfection. 10/10 would come back again. Source: I'm Chinese.

If I could give them "0" stars I would! I tried to order but was unable to because the guy couldn't understand my phone number! It took 4 tries and when he asked for the address he couldn't get that right either. I knew I would never see my food so I told them to forget it! I know I am ordering Chinese food but it would at least be helpful to have someone answer the phone who could speak and understand english!!

Of the sit down and delivery chinese places I have ordered from, in the past 13 years, Kio's by far has been the best. Food arrives piping hot, delivery folks are great, and the taste, is the best I've had in a long time. I've been to Chinese Resturaunts in West Warwick, Cranston, Providence, Warren Michigan, and Atlanta, Georgia. This beats them all!

When I order food I expect it to be cooked. I ordered pad thai for take out and it was just noodles and chicken and shrimp with crushed peanuts on top. It was not pan fried but just sitting a little broth similar to a noodle soup but there was only a few tablespoons of broth on the bottom. Weird. Wouldn't order from here again

I really am a huge fan of Kio's not only for the price $6 lunch deals that include 3 orders of whatever you want with rice/noodles AND a soup/soda. Ridiculous. The portion sizes are more than generous. It definitely can feed you for a few days. My guilty pleasure is American-Chinese food and this is really what I get here. Price, Portion, Taste, amazing. I'd recommend it.

I love Kio's. Their prices are fairly decent for Newport, and the food is always hot and fresh; they give you plenty of sauce and the portions are great. I love being able to put together my own plate at lunch or dinner, because you can get multiple orders of the same item, which lets me overdose on crab rangoons. They deliver for free if your minimum order is over $10, and since mine always is, I love it. I don't think I've ever ordered anything from here that I haven't liked. It is my for-sure go-to Chinese delivery. And, if you go there in person to eat, it's BYOB! Edit, February 2014: I moved out of Newport and have tried in vain to find a Chinese place that is as good as Kio's Asian Stir, but I can't find one anywhere that has even NEAR the quality of crab rangoons or other meals that Kio's has, not to mention as good in price! I'm going to have to order from Kio's from lunch when I'm at work and take it home with me for dinner!

Didn't want to go anywhere tonight so figured I'd try Kio's. Ordered general tso and beef teriyaki. The general tso has a very flavorful light sauce that doesn't make you feel too guilty unlike other places on there island where the sauce is way too thick. The beef teriyaki was very good, nice pieces of beef and good flavor. The delivery service was good. Food arrived pretty quick and the driver was courteous. Will definitely order from here again.

Okay, so the chinese food in Newport is pretty lacking. Kio's Asian Stir doesn't really do authentic chinese food, they make what I call chinese-american food. Don't get me wrong, I like beef and broccolli and kung-pao chicken. And for that kind of cuisine, Kio's is actually pretty good. I go there for lunch, which is a fantastic deal. For $5.25, you get to pick an entree (I get the chicken with mixed vegetables), your choice of lo-mein or fried rice, and hot-and-sour soup. The first time I tried the soup, I was pleasantly surprised; it is actually pretty authentic tasting! The chicken is tender and flavorful, and the veggies are fresh and plentiful. I really like their lo mein. It is very simple, just stirfried with celery and carrots, and reminds me of the $1 lo mein I used to buy from the street vendors in Flushing, NY. And you get A LOT of food! I usually have enough to save for dinner. Future diners, be warned, however... You'll need to overlook some obvious glaring deficiencies to enjoy this cheap-eats haven. First of all, the place is dumpy looking - the tables and chair look old, the carpet is faded and torn. Their silverware, drinking glasses and plates aren't always gleaming clean. In the winter, there is no heat; and in the summer, there is no air conditioning. But look, I actually enjoy eating street food so a little bit of dirt and less-than-ideal temperature doesn't bother me.

Don't quite know what happened - this place has gotten dirty. Also the value has changed. My girl and I recently ordered dinner portions of General Tso's and sesame beef, I think I got 1/2 an order of chicken because I ate it all ($10.95 worth) and I was still hungry. She ended up walking back and returning her beef because it was all breading and no beef! Overall we were both disappointed, don't think I'll bother with this place again.

One of the worst Chinese food restaurants I've been to. The food did not taste fresh and the flavors were terrible. We left a lot of food on our plates. The wait staff sat in the front of the small dining room and talked on their cell phones during our entire meal. We will not be back.

Stay away. Last night I ordered a simple dish, chicken and broccoli. It was the worst chicken and broccoli I've ever had. The chicken was fatty. The sauce was overly salty, even for Chinese food. I will not order from Kio's again.

Ok, so the main dishes are not the best around. However, I have spent the last 2 weeks with a phenomena death cough and it seems the only thing that makes me happy is the chicken rice soup from this place. AND, its only 2.50 for a quart! The crab Rangoon is pretty kickin' too. They also deliver which is a plus, cause after all, it IS newport, and getting anything besides pizza brought to your house is damn near impossible.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
