In my opinion Rhode Island has some of the best Italian food around this place is not a great example of it. Take my advice, take the drive to Federal Hill. I'm not sure if they're owned by the same people but I'm not impressed by International anything, which is every other joint near campus! It was pretty dumpy.

This is a review of International Zone restaurant , not to be confused with International Pocket restaurant which is across the street. It's pretty confusing to me why two restaurants across the street from each other would have such similar names but then I get confused by a lot of things. It's actually located in a plaza next to the Uni of Rhode Island and is a tiny place. Sort of dumpy looking and the only reason we went here was because International Pocket was so crowded. Tons of URI students use this plaza. Boy was I surprised, the only thing they sell here are calzones and Stromboli and I was a little unsure of what a calzone was and had no idea what a stromboli is. They do have zillions of different ones with all types of ingredents including blueberries or strawberries. You can even pick combinations of your own items. So I got a egg plant and veggie calzone and my wife got a chicken something or other stromboli. Wow, were they good! The only different I could see between the calzone and stromboli was that the stromboli was rounder, like a giant burrito. Not really like a burrito but sort of. It was more burrito than a calzone anyways. Whatever, they were both absolutely fantastic. Not only tasty, but large enough to fill me up which is quite a accomplishment. The place is small, hotter than hell and sort of dumpy and the guy inside not exactly friendly. When I tried to ask him what the hell a stromboli was he just pointed to the sign listing the different kinds and then went in back. Not exactly helpful but that's fine. We went there because we were hungry and not for a conversation. So if you are looking for atmosphere and witty conversation go somewhere else. But If you want great food, as long as it's calzones and stromboli try this place. You probably will be pleasantly surprised.

Mediocre food and terrible service. Delivery guy was rude, phone conversation was short and rude, and the food took over an hour to come. Definitely don't recommend.

I-Zone has the best calzones around! They put their only true competitors out of business a few years ago. A calzone will cost you 7.99, but it is delicious. Try the Honey Barbeque Chicken, you will not regret it.

I-Zone is I-Zone. Not to be confused with International Slice, International Pocket, or International Zone; all of which are across the street, in the Kingston Emporium. This is the ultimate spot if you're strolling home late night, looking for grub. Since it is in the dead center of the University of Rhode Island, every visit is sort of like a trip to the circus. By this, I mean that Everybody has a great time, but theres apes, clowns, and rowdy characters. Buffalo Chicken Zone is superior to all others! Approximately $8 for everything. Open till 3 A.M.

All they sell is calazones and Stromboli and they are mediocre at best.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
