Fiancee and I were in the area on a rainy Wednesday, very hungry and IHOP was packed so we were going to head home but saw Cackleberries. We decided to stop and try it and I'm really glad we did. Fiancee got the special with two eggs, shredded potatoes and toast which he said he enjoyed very much and the price was outstanding. I had the butterscotch and maple glazed short stack pancakes. They were delicious, best pancakes next to my moms! I was originally going to get the banana pancakes but then I changed my mind after seeing the specials board and they were really nice when I changed the order. My pancake special was really reasonably priced too at $4. I thought the decor was adorable; cheerful happy colors, farm motif, and the waitress was so nice!! The chef and the owner were there too and they were really nice and seemed to enjoy their job. The chef obviously does his job well. For coffee, juice, and two specials came to $12.38 and I thought that was spectacular for such great service and food. I will definitely be back and will be spreading the word about this place for people looking for a good breakfast that won't kill your wallet :D

Super cute small local joint! My husband had the steak and eggs and he like it. I had an omelet and homefries they were great! The service was great too! There is hardly any parking, but it was wroth it.

My Cackleberries experience brought the meaning of family breakfast to another level. I came across this joint with my Columbia Hockey family, and it was a tremendous experience! The atmosphere was friendly, the food was tasty, and the prices encouraged you to order away. I left full and in good spirits. The French toast was wonderful, with sprinkles of sugar lovingly covering the surface of the bread. The extra eggs that accompanied my entree added a healthy kick that filled the belly. Hungry and in need of a big meal with the boys, or looking for a quick breakfast before work, this is the place!

Nice neighborhood breakfast spot. It's small, and gets busy so be ready to wait for a table on a typical Weekend morning. Food is always great.

Good breakfast at a great price! The veggie scramble (add ham) was delicious. My son got a pancake and sausage. They've made the pancakes in the shape of Mickey Mouse. Our bill was $11.63! This is a very small restaurant so I wouldn't go with more than 2-3 people on the weekend.

Ok right off the bat I wish we could give half stars being that it's better than a three but not a four star. That being said this isn't a bad place for breakfast. Getting to it or parking for it can be though lol. It's small and tiny and so is the lot. They have to share it with other stores there as well. Inside could be updated and remodeled but if it's working as they say why ruin a good thing. Food is good and prices are great and better than most places. Get a lot of food for the prices you pay. Eggs were done just how I liked them so was happy but bacon could have been a little warmer. Staff and waitress were kind and pleasant. Can get busy here and have a wait at times. It's definitely not for larger groups that's for sure. So if your coming with many might want to rethink it. Overall was a pleasant experience and will be back again when in the area.

Breakfast - the final frontier. Well...I suppose it's the PRIMARY frontier - the most important meal of the day - and so, I treasure breakfast bounties. Cackleberries - whatta name whatta name - absolutely fits the bill of a townie diner breakfast hot spot. Parking was ...complicated. There are about 5 spots out front, but the diagonal parking spots are for the barbershop only (beware!). Seat-yo-self and order up Rise and Shine Special (Mon-Fri6-9: two eggs, homefries, toast, coffee $3.39) - or check out their specials board (my friend tells tales of mighty breakfast success on said board'o'specials). Service is decent, it's a one-woman show so she's boppin' around all the time but she made a point to return with coffee refills. On a Friday morning, our party of seven was in and out in about an hour (not bad). The food: pretty good. Hit the spot; eggs were cooked perfectly; homefries were seasoned nicely. And for under $4, you really can't beat it. Here's the thing...our party of 7 asked for separate checks. I paid mine ($3.88) with cash ($20), but I received $11.17 in change... Since we were a large party I chalked it up to a mix up in the bills, but it was a bit jarring when we were just starting out the weekend and I was already out an extra $5. All in all - a good lil' spot if you're looking for a classic, "no-frills" diner experience. Foods good. Service is good. Price is great.

Very small family restaurant. Awkward waiting since there's no waiting area unless you wanna stay outside in this chilly weather! Lots of locals here. I hear them come in and say "having their usual". Bf and I ordered the regular eggs and toast but I got mine with Kielbasa. They get them from Central Falls Provision. Great! Local! Also I had the Shredded Potatoes instead of the regular Home Fries. It was better! And crispy which I liked. Waitresses were very attentive. Always checking if we needed coffee.

This was our favorite local place for breakfast for years! They always had something new to try on the menu, the food was fresh and delicious, and the owner Ray was so friendly that he made the atmosphere like an episode from "Cheers". What ruined this place honestly, was the waitstaff...from not washing down tables, to waiting for your coffee for over 15 minutes, wrong orders that were 'your fault', and rude sarcastic remarks...we've had it! We tried to talk to Ray multiple times. Nothing seemed to work, and each time we came in, it became progressively worse. From what I understand, this waitress is his mother, but I believe it's time to separate family from business. In most of these yelp reviews and in talking to previous customers who now go to other restaurants, they all say the same thing! I hope to one day return to the old Cackleberries we loved...

Take out is a plus. Same great food and is right on, and you have no wait. I only live a mile away so this is the go to move.

Food is very good, some great specials to choose from the day I went. Had the cannoli French toast, covered with fruit, was great. Longer than average wait for the food but it was worth it. Seating is very tight. This place always looks packed when I drive by, the food is definitely the draw. Couple of things I noticed that prevented me from giving 5 stars. Our table was not cleaned well, there was salt or sugar all over the table and whoever set it just laid the paper place settings right over it. Also noticed the bar was in the same shape, and watched the same process being repeated there. There was almost no half and half on the table and I had to ask twice to get some brought over. Again the food was great! I think if they work a little on the service/cleaning side they will get 5 stars the next time I go.

After recently relocating, it was crucial for me to establish a new breakfast spot! I came across only ONE location that seemed to be closest with very few reviews and with decent ratings. I can confidently say that Cackleberries Family Restaurant was 100% satisfying all round! The food portions were extremely generous and the quality was fresh and home made! I decided to try the home made hash and can embarrassingly admit I licked my plate clean! My other half tried one of their famous dishes (Hashbrown Stacker) that consisted of sausage, hash, caramelized onions, topped with over easy eggs and hollandaise sauce! The combo was perfect! I cannot wait to go back! :)

Came here after hearing from a friend that it was the best breakfast. They were right. I went simple with an omelette and corned beef hash. The housemade hash was awesome! Definitely coming back.

The only reason it isn't 5 stars is that you have to get up very early to get there and get a seat. Great omelet. I appreciate that the onions were caramelized before putting them in with my mushrooms and cheese. Delicious! Waitresses are sweet and attentive. The home made corned beef hash and hash browns are awesome! You don't see that effort in many places anymore. Good stuff! We just found our new weekend breakfast place. :)

I'd like to preface this with the fact that if I had seen the specials before I had ordered one of the classic breakfasts I might have given them 4 or 5 stars. Pretty classic breakfast place, food was good, nothing stellar but nothing horrible. I didn't see their specials written on the chalkboard until after I ordered my meal but a few of the specials made my mouth water- apple pie/crisp crepe, smoked honey sausage eggs, sweet potato hash.. I'll definitely be back to try some of the specials.

Small, yes. Limited parking, yes. Great food, absolutely ! The owner came by our table both times we were there including an insanely busy Sunday in April! The steak tips and eggs were fantastic. Hash was homemade. Omelets are innovative and tasty! This is a definite "must try" restaurant. Regarding service, both times we had different waitresses who were friendly and shared info on specials.

I echo the previous reviewer's. This is a small storefront place... not a lot of ambiance but a nice place to grab breakfast. My wife and I went a couple of Sundays ago and were pleasantly surprised. I had the special eggnog French Toast which were very tasty and we also split an order of the house made corned beef hash which I though was great! It had a really good meat to potato ratio... probably 60% corned beef which I liked. My wife had banana pancakes and got three plate sized pancakes... more than adequate.... Only quibble I had... and it's minor is that the food was a little slow coming out of the kitchen, maybe they were down a person back there but it did take a little longer than normal between ordering and getting the food. But they kept coming back with coffee refills to make the time pass. Worth checking out for breakfast

Update January 2013: three stars I had to drop a star and need to explain why. We didn't have a good time the last two times we went. They are a really small place, and business must be good (good for them) because they are often full. One time we went it was packed full. We walked in and looked around to get an idea of whether we should wait or not. One of the cooks (the owner?) acknowledged us, smiled, and waved. However, the two servers wouldn't even look us in the eye. One pushed past me with her coffee pot. Yes, I get it, it is busy, they are full, there are no seats for us. But, a "welcome," or "I think there may be a table opening up in ten minutes," or "Sorry we can't seat you at the moment," or some sort of acknowledgement that we existed...anything...would have been appreciated. Like I said, not even eye contact, and I was pushed aside as if they were frustrated we were there. So, we left. Yes, we went back another day! Why? Because it is close by. We were able to sit this time, and, again, the waitress on duty was rude. All she kept talking about was her vacation and that they were closed the rest of the week. Not in a wistful, "yay I get some time off," but in a rude "I can't wait until this shift is over and I don't have to deal with you people" sort of way. Very brusk. Kind of cliche (in that rude, diner waitress with the coffee pot who hates her job sort of way). Perhaps she deals with a lot of rude people, but we are not rude and are friendly and respectful. We like the food still, but aren't happy with the service these last two times. Will we go again? Perhaps. But we recently discovered another breakfast place in the next town over with a much friendlier, happier staff. ....so, perhaps not. From June 2012: four stars Nice small place with a diner-like atmosphere for an easy breakfast. They have all the breakfast basics like eggs, omelets, toast, pancakes, hash, etc. Everything I've had has been good; it's not too difficult to screw up breakfast basics. The prices are low and everyone is friendly. The only thing I didn't like is that they don't have real maple syrup (I have since been corrected that they do indeed have real maple syrup on the menu). I suppose that's one way to keep the prices down, though, since real maple syrup can be expensive. I would recommend this place when you want a hearty breakfast but don't want to make it.

Food is good. Coffee is meh. There is 1 waitress who absolutely needs to move on. She is rude. (usually on during weekday mornings solo.) She ignores anyone except her favorite "Townies", and is very unwelcoming. I'm surprised the owners haven't recognized this and how much business she is driving away. We have heard from other friends who went here once and never to return simply because of this waitress. Cackleberries is worth going to as the food is consistently good. I have experienced a few order errors on our meals from time to time, but they appear to be on the kitchen end as the waitress did accurately right down the order.

The first time my wife and I went to Cackleberries it was a very busy Sunday morning. After being seated we were greeted by a friendly waitress, our order was taken promptly, and we really enjoyed our food. Overall I would have given the experience 4.5 stars. Our second time to Cackleberries was today and we will never be back. I'd like to preface this review by saying that there was only one waitress on for the day, however, the restaurant was not busy by any means. We arrived and found a nice seat by the windows. There were three other tables (two of which were eating) and two people at the counter. The waitress made it over to our table in a timely manner. She took my drink order, my wife was not sure what she wanted yet. When the waitress brought my juice to the table she put it down and walked away. She did not ask if my wife was ready to order or if we knew what we wanted to eat. We spent the next 10 minutes watching our waitress clear tables, cash out checks, and talk with folks eating at the counter. She also greeted, got drinks for, and took the order for a table that came in after us. After this table ordered we thought for sure she would be back over to us. We were wrong. She greeted a new table and walked back to the counter to take the order for ANOTHER person who came in after us. Now I realize that we asked for a minute for my wife to decide what she wanted to drink but we sat in this very small restaurant for a total of 15 minutes and all we received was a small glass of orange juice. I'm not sure if it was because we are a same sex couple or if it was because the older waitress was overwhelmed by her now six tables but the service we received was terrible, we were completely overlooked. After sitting and watching for awhile my wife and I decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. We left the money for the juice on our table and were not even acknowledged as we were leaving. The man who had come into the restaurant immediately after us had also not been greeted by the time we left. With so many other breakfast places in the area it would be wise to just keep driving past this one.

Hello my friends, This place just recently opened and the locals love it as do I. They pay close attention to the quality of the ingredients and the food is wonderful, they also make their own corned beef hash!!! They are open for dinner on Fridays only but the Fish n Chips, and pretty much any of the seafood on the menu is fresh and tasty... Keep in mind it is a very small corner of the street type diner but the decor is warm and friendly and the food delicious...Well worth trying ....
