Really delicious and fresh food. I should have stopped by this place sooner! The tacos are cheap ($2) and large. I love the thick slices of jalapeno in the PBJ that I got. The mexi-cali wrap is some new level of decadence for me. Fried avocado fritters wrapped up with pico de gallo, lettuce, cheese. I don't know what else. I just ate it and it was so filling. I have my eye on their crispy tostada and quesadillas for the next time I feel a need for Mexican. Since it's summer now, that will be pretty soon because who wants to cook in this heat?

It really is the best damn taco shop/truck in town. With all the larger burrito chains nearby and readily available, it's hard to stand out. Poco Loco certainly stands out, and well. Everything is super fresh, bold and tasty. My usual order is the PBJ (re: Pork, Beans, Jalapeno) grande taco. It's 5 bucks, and is super filling. I love the burritos, but it's almost too much food. Their chorizo+potato+jalapeno queso and pita chips is bomb. I don't care if I'm lactose intolerant, I'm eating this anyways. My significant other usually gets the southwest grande taco or burrito. Fantastic, of course. One thing I really like, is that if they have the ingredients for it, they'll pretty much make anything for you they can with them. Mix and match all the ingredients you want in any format you want. Obviously, don't go crazy, especially if they're super busy, but as long as you're reasonable, it's no problem. Plenty of options for vegetarians or vegans, if that's your thing too. Oh, and BYOB! My only complaint is that for some reason, I always want Poco Loco on a Monday night, and they're closed Mondays - that's my problem though.

The food is awesome ....the regular taco is better then other close taco shops from a state far away.....hint. I loved the Green Monstah. Blasting with flavor for all your million taste buds. The sheet pan nachos tasted so fresh. Big hit with the kids. This place is great. Will definitely be here again, multiple times. So by now you are sitting (or standing) asking yourself, then why did he give only 4 stars. Well the answer to that lies in the customer service. It was like we annoyed her by ordering ...would she rather I take myself to that state named taco place around the corner. Be happy. Love your guests. It pays dividends when you have a restaurant. People like to feel wanted in an establishment and that you value them as a guest there. Heck people in restaurants created vip programs and reward programs just to make the customer 'feel good' cause they realize the value of that feeling equates to more visits and more money. And that's what owning a restaurant is all about. More money! So hopefully by the time you read this review the front of the house employees have also and when you visit based on my food review you will rate them 5 stars, where they truly belong. Thanks Shaun

I'm happy. haven't stopped thinking about the 2 Monstah tacos I had last night for $4. I could have eaten 20. Daisy got a big old fat ground beef burrito ($7). Delicious, fresh, no nonsense, fast. I've been on the hunt for a real taco shack experience since I left SoCal for RI 13 years ago, and this stands shoulder to shoulder with my LA favorite: poquito mas.

Good food, generous portions, good value. Called in order and picked up after work. It was ready when I arrived. Ordered tacos and tostada w beans and guacamole. Everything was really fresh and the service was excellent and friendly. I would return.

Wow this is a hard one. I really wanted to love this place but it my experience was subpar. First of I got the fried avocado and for the price I was expecting something really special but they were sort of bland and easily forgettable. The tacos were your standard fare. I am convinced I could make them. However the tacos are a good price. I wish they would have heated the tortillas. I think that would have amped up my experience. Bottom Line: Come here expecting adequate food for a solid price.

claiming to be the best is usually suspect, but not in this case. These guys are amazing!! food was fresh and delicious! and you can't beat it for the price!! It is definitely going to be one of our regular spots!

  • Holly E.

While I understand that this is not "traditional" Mexican food, my boyfriend and I love visiting Poco Loco for a consistently delicious and fresh meal! We each get tacos or a quesadilla, a drink, and share sheet pan nachos for $20! Can't beat that. I love the Napalm taco and we always get pulled pork on our nachos. It's refreshing to have more choices than just beef or chicken (the chourico quesadilla is amazing). We have never been disappointed. There are only six tables, but we have never had trouble having a place to sit - even at dinner time on a Saturday night. There are so many different combinations to choose from, you won't be let down!

  • Carlen A.

Very happy to have this as my neighborhood taco joint! You can build your own meal, but their suggested fillings are so fun I always go that route! My "usual" is one PBJ soft taco and one BLT taco with a hard shell. I leave completely full--and a mere $4 poorer! Love that they are BYOB, though I favor this more as a take-out spot.

    (5)
  • Kristin R.

Lets taco bout it! Best damn tacos ever!!!!!! Omg the BLT taco doe? To die for. The napoleon taco or whatever its called? Bomb! You think chipotle or cilantros is good? Then you gotta go here! But shhh dont go tellin everyone so they dont become commercial and buy fake meat or feed you humans.

Delicious, Fast and Cheap.... best tacos around

  • Kim C.

I love the food truck concept and wish there were more options in RI. Poco Loco has delicious and fast Tex-Mex style food. It's usually on the side of the Scurvy Dog which makes its convenient for hungry drunks lol.

  • Leah L.

literally obsessed. the soy rizo tacos are always great so cheap, a great value and you can't not get $2 chips and salsa

I've got nothing bad to say about this place. Awesome menu selection, the service staff are super awesome, delicious and consistent food. The SouthWest Burrito is amazing, the Green Monstah is delicious, avocado fritters, nachos, tacos, quesadillas, AND there is a variety of ways to make things began. There's soyrizo to replace chorizo in the southwest, roasted mushrooms, black, pinto, and refried beans, guac can replace dairy creaminess. They have a sweet-chili honey BBQ sauce that is amazing, slap that on anything. They're salsas and guac is fresh, and the food comes out pretty quickly. There's no bar or beer, but there's a liquor store right across the street and you can BYOB, which rocks. Not a lot of seating, no public bathroom can be a setback, but the environment is more tailored for a quick drop in and eat deal, not to hang out. There's an old school pinball machine which is kinda fun and vintage, and there's a TV. Long story short, despite the above mentioned potential set backs, I still give this place 5 stars because the food and service is amazing. It's a regular spot for me to grab dinner that can be healthy, fresh, and cheap - tacos are only $2.00!! Keep an eye out for their food truck, too. It's usually on the east side near the pub crawl of the Avery and the scurvy dog and some other bar I can't remember right now. Check it out, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Good prices and good food yet always taste like they are missing something. It's very inexpensive clean and the people at the counter are very friendly. I recommend it for a quick bite to eat. ...

  • Laurie B.

I love poco loco!!!! My boyfriend and I ate there three times in one week once! It's great! I usually get the black bean and corn quesadilla with a side of guacamole. My boyfriend loves the Napalm taco but usually gets a few different ones while there. So delicious and inexpensive!

If you like the food truck, then you will love the taco shop. Right on the edge of Pawtuxet Village (on the Cranston side), Poco Loco is the yellow beacon of taco-ey goodness. They have all your favorites from the truck, but also offer specials and are byob. Where the taco truck is more my go-to drunk snack when on the West side, the shop is more my go-to, usually sober, lunch stop when I'm in the area. I have a couple of friends who live in the village, and I try to stop by when I can. My favorites waver between the Napalm, the PBJ, BLT, and Green Monstah. Napalm has a kick with napalm hot sauce, chicken, and jalapenos. The PBJ is spicy and sweet with beans and bbq sauce. The BLT is awesome because, well, bacon is awesome. Green Monstah has delicious guac on it. Whatever you choose, you won't be disappointed. The service is always fast and friendly and the meal won't break the bank. You can have a very fill meal for well under ten bucks, including a drink. They have a couple of outside tables and several on the inside. I've never been there when it's super busy but I could see it filling up fast in the evening. I highly recommend you stop by if you want tacos that, although not super authentic Mexican, are super delcious.

  • Billy M.

Okay so I love this place, like unhealthy love, like I'd steal a taco from a child if it was from here. but buyer beware this is not authentic Mexican. some reviewers that bring up Authentic Mexican restaurants that the menu in spanish as better.... well yeah, duh, if you want 100% authentic mexican this isn't it. This is americana mexican style tacos and burritos for a decent price. the B.L.T. and the Napalm are my favorite. but serious $2 tacos... there truck is around town every night, great for a quick bite and way better than any "fast food" could ever dream. Side note you can order there Nachos as any of their predesigned favorites, do it.

    (5)
  • William K.

Nice taco joint. Good quality food, fast and fresh. The guacamole is nice and green. The quesadillas are soft and chewy. The burritos are huge.

  • Tiffany S.

Was craving tacos and have been meaning to trying this place. I just got two tacos one soft and one hard...for four dollars these were worth it. Flavorful and filling. Just the smell of the place is great! Will be returning to try everything!

    (5)
  • Whitney D.

Went there during the week and was very surprised on how wonderful and flavorful the tacos are!!! I had the PBJ taco with out the J and the BLTaco, both were amazing!! I will definitely be coming back!! The only bad thing is trying to look up the menu online and their website isn't Mobile compliance!!

  • Danielle L.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. The food is always fresh and you can't beat the prices. I always look forward to what their special is going to be. The crispy tostada with ground beef is my go too. But the quesadillas, sheet pan nachos and tacos are all delicious too.

    (5)
  • Jessica T.

I definitely give five stars for what you get for the price. We probably go there at least one a week. Their tostada with pork is very delicious. I add guac normally, but it is still good without out. Their napalm taco is also good. Try their queso dip, you can't stop. Their dirty rice is also good. I have tried all of their items and loved all of them. Price is very reasonable. This place is BYOB and there is a liquor store right in front of poco loco. We make a quick stop there and bring some beer with us to enjoy the food.

  • Xiao Z.

Well beloved by all of my colleagues and I was told to try one of the most authentic burrito place in RI, especially the Napalm, and I must admit, I was a little disappointed by all of the hype. The establishment was clean, well staffed and everyone was very friendly, however, the burrito itself was decent, but not spectacular. The chicken was a bit dry and didn't deliver quite a punch, and the fun-guy taco was just mildly marinated mushroom in a soft taco shell. The jalepenos were a nice touch, but at the end of the day, I was not blown off my feet, and I think that was the major dealbreaker for me. Food: 3 stars Service: 3 stars Price: 3-4 stars

    (3)
  • Nick D.

They've come a long way, that's for sure. A couple years ago this place was bland and totally forgettable, but a friend was raving about them and dragged me back a while ago. I love the southwest burrito personally, don't be afraid of the napalm either - it's got heat but it's gentle. It's not mind blowing stuff, but you'll get really solid Mexican and not spend too much in the process. Service is very fast as well. Worth a visit!

    (3)
  • Kirk M.

What a find! Great food, Great Staff and the Queso Dip is amazing! The prices are ridiculously affordable making this a go to all the time place!

Crazy good and super fresh taco's. The wife and I go here far far too often. :)

  • J R.

Is it authentic Mexican food? Of course it isn't. Come on, this is Rhode Island. Is it good? You're darned right it's good. My partner made a point of eating here as much as possible before I moved out here and we got married. (He's...not much of a cook beyond putting a frozen pizza in the oven, but I digress.) When they opened a location near his house, he was thrilled, and I barely got off the plane before he insisted I try this place out. Bacon! Bacon on everything! Normally I eyeroll such a thing but you really have not lived until you've had a black bean and corn quesadilla with bacon tossed in. Chips and salsa are fresh, counter help is friendly, and CHEAP! Bonus points for them being extremely friendly towards my service dog.

    (5)
  • Keith W.

Counter service BYOB amazing taco shop. Always steady business, but never feels busy, predominately take out business so there is always a table inside or out. Great food, fun daily specials, friendly help. Not authentic Mexican food, but fresh and quality heady stoner spins on traditional Mexican faire. Pro tip - the liquor store across the street is perfect to grab a six pack for Poco Loco, but beware there is NO bathroom so pee beforehand.

    (5)
  • Nathan K.

Great prices and menu. Food is kinda bland though. Burritos have little flavor. Eat there often though i like the vibe and idea of the place. Nachos and Quesadillas are good

  • Andrea R.

Ohh Poco Loco, you never fail my friends and I whether we are there because we are ravenously HANGRY or we're just cravin' a taco! The store front is on the border of the Warwick, Cranston, Providence line in the Pawtuxet Village area, so I can't ask for more than that! The chalkboard they have outside of the store front boasting it's the "Best Damn Taco's in Town" ?! Well lets just say, that sign should be up everyday! Let it be known, this is the TRUTH! Fresh ingredients, clean, always satisfied! I have yet to pass up the Poco Loco truck since my first visit here!

    (5)
  • Liz V.

Tried the brick and mortar location in Cranston and good god can these people make some bomb ass food! If you are thinking of going to Chipotle or Cilantro, do yourself a favor and upgrade to Poco Loco. Although it didn't fulfill the street taco type craving I get, it definitely fulfilled my "I want a big ass burrito just the way I want it" craving. So many options that I could probably order a burrito there 15 times and never have the exact same flavor combination. Plus, as someone who doesn't eat meat, I SO appreciate all of the vegetarian options. I didn't feel like I was confined to just one or two menu items like I often do. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

Great quality tacos at even greater price. Left one star off cause they aren't open on Sunday's. Especially when they are already closed Monday. ITS FOOTBALL SEASON!!! I NEED MY TACO FIX.

  • Jazzy G.

After eating there numerous times since opened, the downward slide of food quality is too much to ignore anymore. I don't care how long the lines are (which are getting smaller and smaller). Simply put the burritos are simply flavorless. Yes they are edible but lacks any taste or enjoyment. They used to be so good. Each time it gets worse. The BBQ pork has been so dry lately. What happened? resting on old accomplishements of greatness. The nachos once a highlight for me are plain bad. Overcooked, dry, lack of flavor. Why is there not a killer red salsa? pico de gallo doesn't cut it in my book. Take that salsa gazpachio and fix it by taking that strange taste out of it. Only thing still great is the quesadillas. Still wonderfull. Love the napalm sauce as well. Need to have to overcome complete lack of flavor on anything. Hey owners, add some spices to ingredients to flavorize, dont overcook meat, and get a killer red salsa to put on it. The location is great and convienent but word is getting out, not as good anymore.

I've decided: Poco Loco is My Favorite Spot In Town. Why? Easy: BLTacos, man. It wasn't enough that they were a food truck -these guys were never foolin' around, and a year after they started their engine, they opened the doors of their golden nugget of a taco shop. Bright, cheery, clean and cozy, this is where happiness is born, kids. I went for my usual, and I don't have one ounce of regret - those tacos are fresh, smoky, slightly salty and juicy from the tomatoes. They're also the perfect size (and at $2 a pop, the perfect price) for lunch. I ordered and got them - hot and fresh - within 10 minutes, and the service couldn't have been friendlier. There are a few tables to sit at, but I can see picking up my beloved tacos and heading down to the water for a beautiful treat.

  • Alyssa A.

Just got back home from the Grand Opening! I had heard about the truck, even went so far as to put the number in my phone but had never tried it. I was very excited to see that they were setting up shop right in my neighborhood! I went with my nephew Adam and my husband Brian Adam says: "It was great!" Brian says: "The place is Loco!" I say: I loved it, I will definitely be back! I tried the Green Monstah and it was delicious! I can't wait to try something new next time I go. PS: Thank you for the cupcakes!

  • Julie M.

ohh this little gem is so unassuming! The place is clean, tidy, comfortable and close to home! I ordered the Thai chicken soft taco, the BLJ (hold the J!) soft taco and split the avocado fritters with a friend. It was all delish! I don't know if I would order the fritters again ($7.99) but they were worth trying for sure. The only thing that held me back from 5 stars is they don't have any sweet treats on the menu.....how about a churro? or a Mexican chocolate brownie? Overall -- muy bien! I'll be back!

  • Sarah V. M.

Welcome to the neighborhood Poco Loco. We are SOOOOOO glad you're here! Got the Green Monstah, as recommended, and it was good. Also got a tostada with spiced ground beef. Delicious. But that dang queso...in the last 48 hours, I haven't stopped talking about it - um, hello it's SLAMMIN. Good cheese with chorizo and hot, hot, hot jalapenos; served with a side of spiced and fried pita - move over tacos, there's a new love in town. I've wanted to go back but you were closed for Cinco de Mayo (and then to recover from Cinco de Mayo). Can I blame you? Heck no! I love a business that knows when to party and leave the work behind. Remember this voice because I'll be phoning in my order to avoid the same introductory 35 minute wait for "the best damn taco truck (now shop) in town."

    (5)
  • Amy K.

The best tacos in town! My husband likes the hard I like the soft. Our favorites include the BLT, Southwest and pork tacos. Friendly service, fresh delicious ingredients and fair prices. Everything is always good just don't go on Mondays like we always accidentally do...they're closed.

    (5)
  • Rich D.

Traditional or not, this place has changed the game for me and tacos. I end up eating tacos less, because I won't settle for the Taco Bell anymore and will wait until I can get up to the truck, or the store front. blt tacos, green monster, and also the equivalent burritos.

    (5)
  • Chanta P.

I love this place! It's not quite authentic Mexican but the ingredients are super fresh and flavorful. Poco loco is a reliable weekday meal option and because they use good ingredients, I don't feel bad about feeding it to my toddler. I like the chorizadilla (chorizo, potato, and corn in a cheesy quesadilla) with lots of napalm sauce. My 2 year old likes the pulled pork.

    (4)
  • Claire C.

Lackluster. I want to love this place so badly. It's around the corner from house, and would be ideal for a burrito craving. First, the food is bland. The descriptions sound fun and creative, but the food I've had has never stood up to menu descriptions. I think the lack of flavor could be attributed to the temperature at which the food is served. Lukewarm. (I've even had food from the truck, which is handed to you from the location in which it is prepared. Was my food hot? Noooooo.) There is seriously nothing sadder than a cold tortilla wrapped around lukewarm chicken. No bueno. Go elsewhere for your burrito fix.

    (2)
  • Leesha Z.

The restaurant AND the taco truck both get 5 stars from me! Always fresh, always delicious whether it be 3pm or 2am. The staff is always friendly too. I either get two tacos or a grande taco which is on this delicious fresh flat bread. Ugh great, now I'm craving one.

  • DTronic S.

I can't believe that people rave about this place. I love mexican food and I was excited to try this spot based on a lot of positive Yelp reviews. I decided to make the 15 minute drive to try it and when I got inside there was only one customer in the store who was waiting for takeout. I was happy because I thought that I'd have my food and be on the way back home in a flash... wrong. The girl working the counter was a total ditz. I ordered a Grande Taco and Burrito to-go and then I sat down at a table to wait for my food. While I was waiting people began to come into the restaurant and place orders. I started to notice that other customers were ordering food and getting their food ahead of me. The girl working at the counter kept looking at me so I figured my order was just taking longer for some reason. She looked directly at me at least 10 times so I thought that there was no way that she didn't realize that my food was taking an unusually long time to come out but I was totally wrong with that assumption. There was a guy who came in about 5 minutes after me and he ordered, ate his entire meal, and left the restaurant while I still sat and waited. Probably 6 or 7 orders came out before I finally overheard the counter girl inquire to the kitchen about my food and somehow my order was lost. I don't know how they could've forgotten my order when there was only 1 person in the place when I got here. I'm not the type of person to create a scene or anything so I just waited patiently and then finally after about 35 minutes, I got my food. I will say that the guy who gave me my food apologized but only after I mentioned the 30+ minute wait and he then also gave me a 10 dollar gift certificate. So after that wait I was hoping that the food was worth it... wrong again. I first tried the taco and it was really bland. There was nothing special about the taco and for 5 bucks it was a total ripoff. I was hoping for more out of the burrito but it was basically a flour tortilla with a ton of rice with a small amount of chicken. I had asked for the hottest hot sauce they had to be put inside the burrito but there wasn't a trace of any heat so I think they forgot to add it. I've had better burritos at gas stations than this place. Chipotle is way better than this place and I think Chipotle pretty much sucks. This will be a one and done visit to Poco Loco for me. There are much better local Mexican places like Chilangos or El Rancho Grande. This place is a total waste of time if you like real Mexican food. Big disappointment.

Home base for a monster truck. Last time I was in the giant pork loins were just coming out of the ovens. I almost jumped the counter and dove in. Insane. I've had a couple specials that were all great but it's the PB&J burrito that I return to time and time again. Pulled Pork, Bean & jalapeño. Wow. The pork is moist, flavor straight thru. Happy beans, snappy jalapeño, sweet BBQ and perfectly cooked rice. I can get 2 meals out of one but if I got nothing to do I'm gonna Hurt myself and polish it off. Chips and guac are a great side. The guacamole is balanced well and perfectly seasoned.

    (4)
  • Thomas A.

The food here is great. I have had everything and nothing lets me down. The specials are good I just wish they were open Sunday and Monday so I could go even more!

  • provi b.

Great! Cheep! Fresh! Convenient! Daily specials. Mix and match, made to order. Outdoor seating could be more unique and prominent. Needs a customer restroom. Would add a soup, gazpacho and/or chili to the menu. Get there before (12pm) or after lunch (1pm) to beat the line. But service is very quick.

I love this place for a quick meal. Burritos wrapped in tin foil kind of place but darned good food!

    (4)
  • Lyd M.

My #1 food craving is for a burrito. This spot is right down the street from me so it's a quick fix when I need a satisfying burrito. My go-to is the Southwest burrito...it has chorizo (nicely smokey) and potatoes with a corn salsa. Hits the spot. Good selection of build-your-own options. For $7 I feel like it's a little small, but it is packed pretty tight so I can't complain. I like the $2 tacos! Always a short wait-time, too. I've been to the truck once...got a burrito with the bbq pork. The pork is really sweet...too sweet for me. All in all a decent experience!

  • Nick D.

Yo man........this place is the nacho cheese on my nachos homes.... I love buying tacos and bathing with them in the tub. I also tip a lot with money that I rub on the back of my neck, call me and mabye you can know more;)

  • Shannon D.

I really loved this place! When living in Cranston, it was a delicious and affordable choice on those days when you just don't feel like making lunch or dinner. The counter was ALWAYS very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed how you could customize your food, getting choose your protein or choice, sauce, and toppings. I really like the BBQ chicken Quesadilla with a side of sour cream and pico.

  • Eats E.

There are times in life when you want something warm on a cold day. If I can make a suggestion it would be tacos. It is not your traditional food stop and is originally bass off of a great food truck. We had the avocado fritters, the BLT, funguy, and PB&J. Great food and will come here whenever that craving hits.

    (5)
  • Suzie B.

This is a great neighborhood place, cheap and tasty. I usually can't resist the avocado fritters and the delicious spicy sour cream that comes with them; then I usually get a napalm burrito. It's always busy but yet there always seems to be a table open. It's BYOB and usually turns out to be a $15-20 dinner for two. Service is friendly and pretty fast unless they are totally inundated with takeout orders.

    (4)
  • Jillian Q.

The BLT-taco lured me here but the PB&J keeps me coming back! The PB&J is so good and I am always surprised at how spicy it actually is. I've only been here for lunch or late afternoon snacks and it's never been too busy when I've showed up. I always see the same guy behind the counter who is very pleasant and the service is pretty prompt. My husband enjoys the World Cup pinball machine they have while we wait for our yummy tacos. We love it here and when the craving strikes we make a pilgrimage to Cranston to satisfy it.

Food is great here. Good tacos and burritos. Reasonable prices and nice peeps. Every time i go i look forward to good food. Should add breakfast.

I've gone twice since my first review of Poco Loco, and well, let me explain the decline. Decided to BYOB, and meet up with a friend to dine in about a month ago. It took about 25 minutes to get the food. I pulled in my chair, and immediately felt a sharp pain in my hand. Upon inspection, the hastily assembled chair I was sitting in had a torn up screw/washer underneath that cut me. Half way through the meal an obnoxious 11 year old boy decided to thrash around right behind me playing a loud game of pinball, while his oblivious mother sat staring out the window across the room. (by the time we left, they still had not gotten their food) The only thing that saved this trip was the BBQ chicken quesadilla. Very tasty and cheap. My friend commented that the pico that comes with meals sucks. I have to agree, it consists of mealy tomato and white onion chunks swimming in a little cup of water. Went back for the afore mentioned quesadilla (note: get ONLY the BBQ-regular is too bland), this time decided to do take out. We called, and intentionally gave them a half hour. Walk in 35 minutes after placing the call, and, surprise, food not ready. One of the items we ordered; Avacado Fritters, was a fried ball of green mush, mostly breading, that had no avacado taste. I have to agree with other reviewers here about the staff. What, exactly, is the purpose of the second woman at the front? And what's with the Hooters attire? Tacky. I have heard from friends who live nearby that this place has run out of food on more than one occasion. To the owners who may be reading this, please try to get it together.

i stopped in for a quick lunch since i heard so many good things about this place, however, i needed to wash my hands before i ate food...... that you actually eat with your hands!!!! The girl behind the counter refused to let me use the restroom and told me there were "no public restrooms". I know you have a restroom and i know you have a sink ...... just let me use the damn thing so i can enjoy my food. RUDE!

Poco Loco is conveniently located and a great place for a quick stop for some healthy and great tasting tacos. I wish they were opened on Sunday and Monday as well as late night, but they never seem to disappoint me. I'd highly recommend this for anyone who loves fresh and tasty burritos, tacos and assorted mexican treats!

I really wanted to like this place- the reviews from my friends, i had seen the menu on line. It was a food truck that expanded to a storefront - it HAD to be something special. No, not really. Locatiuon is easy to get to, lots of people i and out. Cashiers/servers pleasant and quick, prices reasonable....... it's just the food isn't that good. It's not bad, or horrible, but it's not real mexican street food. Having said that, it was better then most Mexican chains in the entire state of RI. I had 3 tacos. The pulled pork with napalm sauce on it. The pork was a bit dry, but the tortilla was good. The refried beans were sparse, and the salsa- eh. I make my own better. So I tried the chicken one. Not any better. The reason you stew chicken all day is to get flavor and be able to shred it. This was a chicken breast, probably poached, and was extremly dry with no flavor. Then I had the PB and J - same pork, no real other flavors. My friend had the baked nachos, PB and J (minus the J) and i will say those were pretty good. A bit pricey considereing there wasn't that much chees on them, but at $8.99 one of the more expensive items. The food was fresh, I tried the sweet chil BBQ sauce (blech) and the napalm. OK, but too hot with no depth to the heat. So I will probably go back, if just because my friend eats there once a week, but for now, I can't say I would mention it to anyone. I hope they expand out with more authentic flavors because they have the beginnings!

Delicious and affordable - and BYOB Small restaurant, can get a little hot on a muggy day, few seats outside. The staff is friendly, and willing to give you suggestions. My choice is the PB&J burrito (pork, black beans, ans jalapeños) Drink selection is small - bottles of water or soda - but they are BYOB. You don't have to worry about dressing up, this place is super casual. You can even call ahead and pick up your order.

No this is not authentic Mexican- but this is my ideal comfort food! The tacos are huge, and at only 2.00 per taco you really can't beat the price. I only ever get the pulled pork tacos, soft shell, with black beans and jalapeños and they eat like wraps. Plus they have a Taco Truck that alternates between E&O and Scurvy. :)

I love this place. They have awesome $2 Tacos. I hav tried both hard corn and soft flour. Their adobe chicken is my favorite. My vegetarian family love the soyrizo and potato. The Green Monstah rocks and you must have their Black Bean and Corn Quesadilla. This place is afordable, delicious and just around the corner in Pawtuxet Village. You must stop by and check it out.

this place is fantastic!!! Fresh food, quick service, great staff... good prices. What else do you want? Seriously. great addition to my hood... they could use a little more seating but they came from a food truck so it was a lot of drive/walk by business. had both the burritos a couple times + the tacos... YUM YUM YUM. LOVE. and you can't miss it because the YELLOW is glowing. if you want mexicancan without feeling ill, this is your kinda place!

Same great food, same awesome staff - now with chairs! (Oh, and it's BYOB, which I didn't know before I came in but which I have to remember for next time.) We came in famished on a hoppin' Friday night. They told us twenty minutes when we ordered - we were delighted to get our food in ten. I got two chorizo and potato tacos and two beef tacos, all with guacamole and napalm sauce: all came out hot (unsurprising), very tasty, and completely full. (My one gripe was that although the fillings were hot, the taco shells were palpably cold.) The avocado fritters were EXCELLENT, really different, with southwestern sour cream that was good enough that I ate sour cream. There was outdoor seating, although they could use more. (Can't really blame them, though, it's only a sidewalk.)

We decided to take a 15 minute drive out to Cranston because we had heard this place was the real deal. Poco Loco, as a taco/burrito option, is nothing better or worse than most places I've tried since landing here from San Diego. Pros: The place was clean and quite affordable, with a more appealing vibe than most privately owned Mexican food places in town. They have an interesting spin on the standard queso fundido, with more cheddar cheeze and jalapeno than I've ever seen. Try it if you're a fan of this classic appetizer. Cons: The carnitas burrito itself was very average for the following reasons: the tortilla wasn't warm, the rice wasn't warm and it lacked any real flavor. My burrito expectations were not met here. My girlfriend ordered tacos and the shells resembled store bought taco shells (think chili's brand or old el paso) and she felt there was more lettuce than anything else in the taco. She didn't finish her two tacos. They do not offer free chips and salsa. If it's nearby, try Poco Loco. But next time we're wanting a burrito, we'll skip the 15 minute drive, and skip the let-down.

I have been in for lunch here a few times now and I have to say it's really nice to have a great taco place in the neighborhood. The only downfall is the decor other than that This place seems to be strictly word of mouth and seem to be doing very well. The food is fresh, good and fast! If your looking for a good quality taco I recommend this place.

Hey, guess what.... ITS TACO TIME!!!!!!!! My relationship with Poco Loco Taco was love at first bite, because their food is just fabulous!!! My personal favorites are the PB&J and the BLT, but aside from those they have so many great options to choose from!!!!!! I love their taco truck and the fact that they now have a store front just makes it that much easier to celebrate taco time! That being said it is a pretty small place was hard to get seating when crowded, so we just end up taking our food to-go which was fine with us. A quick heads up, weather looking up store info or even truck locations be sure to check their Facebook page or twitter which they always updating.

Was so excited to see Poco Loco in the 'hood - however, I have issues with the hours. The first week they were open, the hours were touch and go - they closed the day after cinco de mayo - which frustrated me, because I really wanted a taco. They're closed on Sundays, which seems insane, as I've seen boatloads of cars stop and drive away. Just means they're missing out on some serious Sunday dollars. Anyhow, the food is deliciously fresh and the girls at the front are great. The food does take awhile, but it makes me feel better because I know it's not coming from a "vat" in the back. My 2 year old loves the quesadillas and I'm a huge fan of the nude burritos. My husband will eat just about anything and they definitely have a following, the line is out the door most days. My only ask - open on Sundays! (Even if just abbreviated hours)!

I'm a value person... if I leave feeling I got what I paid for, I'm happy. Poco Loco is small, inviting to the point of a taco joint. many options to choose from. I've eaten there 20+ times... and my only complaint, they don't have a couch to lay down on after you eat. Highly recommend!

This place is adorable... and right near my house! Very clean, very nice people working there, and an awesome menu. The fun guy in a soft taco, is unbeatable.

  • Gabriel O.

This should be the bottom line for fast food. It takes less time here to order a pair of soft tacos than it does to order anything at any chain, and the food here is absolutely amazing! Poco Loco has both a storefront and a food truck. Great for anything from a snack to a full meal, Poco Loco serves a highly customizable range of tacos, burritos, etc. You can add all sorts of toppings, including bacon. The ingredients are fresh and taste great; the greens they use are fantastic, not just iceberg lettuce. The storefront is clean and pretty comfortable. Poco Loco is in the opposite direction of where I work, and I'll bike the extra 4 miles just to pick up dinner for myself later. Seriously, if you can't find something you want here, you're probably just going to have to resort to some form of liquid sustenance.

Blt taco and queso= heaven. They always have great specials too. It's fast, cheesy and fully customizable. Tough to find a seat some nights, and no bathroom on site.

  • Maria M.

I don't get the 4 stars given to this place, to start with the restaurant itself isn't very nice, and they don't serve authentic Mexican food. I ordered soft beef tacos, and the ground beef was salty and didn't taste good at all. The burrito was just a bunch of stuff wrapped together, nothing really good about it. I wouldn't go back there, there are way too many good authentic tacos place out there!

    (1)
  • Ras B.

Poco Loco is good. It is super cheap, there are many choices, and the food is relatively good. However, it is not great. I hope to see them tweek their recipes and add more choices to the menu soon because for the most part the specials they run are fantastic. However, some times it is hit or miss. Our take-out has been cold a few times and sometimes the food is better than others. The pico de gallo has been mealy a few times. However, you can't go wrong with the bbq chicken quesadilla or the PBJ taco. Both are delicious and always good. Not authentic by any means but seriously great prices! We are in the area and it's been a staple since they moved in. Based on the prices and convenience alone I've gotta give it a 4. Hope they will expand their hours in the future.

I've visited the Poco Loco truck a few times, so I knew what to expect for the menu at their fixed location. Upon visiting their new digs in Cranston, I wasn't disappointed, but neither was I impressed. It was counter service, not much better than a fast food line. The two girls working weren't as helpful or as gregarious as the maestros on the truck. The place was smaller than I expected, with a limited number of seats. Two of the tables were pushed together, full of gabbing women taking up precious space - they weren't dining as far as I could tell. Either their food had long since been eaten, or they were mustering the courage to approach the counter. When my order was completed, the food was nice, but I guess I expected more from the location. I hate to think the only distinguishing characteristic of this place is that it's tastier than a Taco Bell but less inviting. Parking is on the street. There was ample space available when I arrived, but I don't know if it gets crowded when they get busy.

    (3)
  • Louise J.

I'm giving it five stars because it doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is: cheap and cheerful and delicious tacos and more. My favorite is the chicken BBQ quesadilla and green monstah soft taco. Great neighborhood place.

  • Dane D.

Really good selection and prices. We were really glad to have found this place while living in the Cranston area. I really loved their Chorizo and Potato option for a taco, as well as the sheet of nachos, was a good choice for the price!

    (4)
  • Joe R.

The Southwest Burrito (chorizo/potato) is the best burrito I've had anywhere, ever. I've never had the pleasure of getting food from their truck, but the shop wasn't too far away. It's a bit small, so if it's a busy day you may be forced to get your food to go. Prices aren't terrible, about $7 for a burrito, plus an extra .50 for bacon, and lets face it, anyone will pay .50 for bacon.

  • Colleen M.

I can't believe I waited so long to try this place! We grabbed lunch to go on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy but no waiting. The service was great and the food was ready FAST. The food was delicious, as good as we hoped. The avocado fritters (I can't resist avocados) were awesome! My bean and corn quesadilla was perfect and the kids enjoyed the tacos. My husband's Napalm taco was hot enough for him. We will definitely be back!

Hole in the wall place, in a very random area of Cranston, but OH SO GOOD!!! I moved to Cranston at the end of May and wanted to check out the area I live in. Drove down to Pawtuxet Village and between my apartment and Pawtuxet Village is Poco Loco with it's bright yellow awning. Went back a couple of days later and have been going back at least once a week ever since. Great food, very unique spin on mexican but still keeping some of the authentic nature of it. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because every once in a while they put something random on my food. Not like a completely random item, but for example, the nachos don't say that they come with onions, only pico de gallo. I asked for it with no pico. The first time, no pico and it was fabulous. The second time, no pico, but onions. I do not like onions. I have now learned to tell them no "anything I don't like", even if it doesn't call for it. Overall, this place is fabulous. Great food at phenomenal prices. Definitely want to check out the food truck one of these nights.

This place is legit. PBJ - best $2 taco I have ever had in my life. No bathroom though, (not only in the building but no where around for like a mile) so go to the bathroom before you go to Poco Locos

  • Tina M.

I honestly cannot even rate this. How can a place that claims they have "the best tacos in town" not have corn tortillas. If I wanted a hard shell taco, I'd go to Taco Bell. Very disappointing, I couldn't even try anything. Still searching for a good Mexican meal in RI with real Mexican food.

  • Melissa S.

Remind me to thank my friend again for bringing this establishment to my attention. This Mexican eatery is located right in the Pawtuxet Village area of Cranston. The food is local and fresh. The service was fast and incredibly friendly! The menu options are classic yet creative and they seemed to have a little something for everyone (as long as you enjoy Mexican food that is, I guess.) The food is made to order and then brought over to your table to enjoy. I had a BBQ chicken quesadilla for my lunch. The meal was a perfect size and it was only $6!!!! This place blows the chain fast food Mexican places out of the water (and trust me I have had my love affairs with Chipotle and Cilantro in the past). Please go try Poco Loco, you will be happy you did and you will be helping keeping a small local business thrive.

This was my first time.. The line was out the door, but moved pretty quickly... The girl behind the counter was racing around, but still found time to be very pleasant...it ordered the BBQ chicken quesadilla.. It was very good and it was only 6 bucks... I definitely will be back to try other times...

Always been a huge fan of their food truck, and I was curious to see how it would translate over to a restaurant. The good news is that it is AWESOME!! Went by the store front the other day and got My BLTaco Grande, and it was just as good if not better than off the truck! Looking forward to many more visits! Not a whole lot of seating in the store front as a heads up to larger parties. It appears to be more geared towards take out, although there is the BYOB option which makes waiting for your food not so bad. Liquor store right across the street is clutch! I would definitively recommend checking them out. Not authentic but delicious none the less!

After much debate over where to get dinner last night my boyfriend and I decided to venture out to Poco Loco Taco. He had tried their tacos before and swore by them. I on the other hand was slightly skeptical after reading some of the reviews here on Yelp. We arrived at their store, it was super cute and small, but that doesn't bother me, I like the vibe that smaller places have. Anyway, it was moderately busy, but nothing chaotic. There were two girls behind the counter, one bagging orders and the other taking them. We were greeted with a friendly "hello" and proceeded to stare at the menu until we decided what we wanted. My boyfriend took his normal route and got the BLT tacos. Going with what he knew I got those as well along with a "Southwest" taco, which has chourizo and potatoes with some other goodies in it. We got 6 tacos in all for only $12. The girl that took our order was super friendly and one of the kitchen staff came out while we were waiting and smiled at us. It was just a really nice atmosphere. We got our order to go and it took probably about 10-15 minutes. Not the speediest of places, but it's cool we weren't in a rush. Once we got home we opened our tacos up and I will admit I was still skeptical even looking at it. Here's the thing though it's not fancy gourmet, authentically Mexican food. It's tacos made by some cool people with a food truck. I took a couple bites of my first BLT taco and it. Was. AWESOME! I couldn't believe it. The taco itself was soft and fresh. The bacon was salty and chopped up so you got some in every bite. The flavored mayo was spicy, but not over powering. The veggies were fresh! I absolutely loved it. The Southwest taco was good, not as awesome as the BLT taco, but I would get it again. The chourizo was spicy and a little too crispy. The potatoes were soft and added texture. I liked it, I just didn't love it. I give Poco Loco five stars based on the experience I had and how much I enjoyed my tacos. My only suggestion and slightly negative remark is that I truly wish they had soft corn tortillas. For someone like myself that is trying to go gluten free for health reasons, it makes it kind of sucky to only have the option of a hard shell taco which I have no interest in. I sucked it up and ate the soft tacos this time, but to have the other option would be smart of them I think. However, all that aside I will be back Poco Loco Taco!

I've heard it's amazing, so sad I had them on cinco de mayo and don't remember eating them!!! Lol , but I will 4 star them cuz it's not their fault I was tipsy!

poco locos, do you cater weddings? this place is amazing. it's byob, so right off the bat, i was intrigued. i had previously been to their taco truck and everything was really fresh and delicious. their restaurant is small and humble, but the food is DOPE. i totally recommend. their BLT taco, while not authentic, is to die for. poco locos, do you cater funerals?

  • Tyler M.

I was a big fan of the truck but when you need a quick lunch its not to fun to chase the truck around town. Poco Loco is a nice addition to a neighborhood that is lacking a Mexican take-out joint, tacos, burritos etc. I think they will do well with the location but I have a few complaints. Don't get me wrong this is a 3 star joint but I got their "slow roasted pork" which was a little dry and to sweet. What saves it was the chicken burrito my girl-friend ordered, I stole most of her's it was that good! They have a friendly staff and prompt service so I will be back, it also helps that there is nothing around for miles serving this quality of Mexican. The inside is inviting but I do not believe I would eat there. I think they need some outside tables for the summer, the inside smells like an Ikea box-set, wood and varnish. Take the nice sized Burrito you order down the street, there is a nice park called "The boat house". That should make up for the short-comings. Its good but its not something I crave hence the 3 star rating.

I love this little store. The atmosphere is bright and cheery and the staff is friendly and all smiles. I've been back a couple times now and have yet to be disappointed. I like that they seem to have something for everyone here. For the adventurous there are things like the chorizo & potato hash taco, or suggested items like their seemingly signature PB&J grande (pulled pork, black beans, and jalapenos). Yet for those that really just want a ground beef taco like their mom used to make, they have that too. Last time I was there I tried the black bean and corn quesadilla. New favorite!

  • Anita I.

I ate here for the first time a few weeks ago...actual location not the food truck. The prices were much more reasonable than Chipotle and the place is the size of a mom and pop pizza shop with about 6 tables inside. I ordered the "naked burrito" which was essentially a burrito bowl. On it I got chicken, lettuce, veggies, some cheese, rice and spicy salsa. I definitely got my money's worth and it tasted great! The salsa had just the right amount of heat, the cheese was actual shredded queso/Mexican cheese and the chicken and rice were perfectly seasoned. Based on some of the negative reviews, I am going to give these guys the benefit of the doubt and say that they are a new business still trying to find their groove and specialize as a food truck so that changes their business model by quite a bit. I would definitely go back and recommend it to others.

Like a few other people said, I really wanted to love this place. It's in an area that's starved for new and cool businesses and I was so psyched for them to finally open. Finally the time came and we called to order takeout only to find that they're closed on Sundays. Tried again the next night...nope. Closed Mondays too. Waited a week or so and then tried on a Tuesday...nope. Closed the 3rd and 4th of July. Finally got a human being on the phone that Friday to place an order and was told it would be a minimum of 30 minutes, probably a bit longer. Told her I didn't have the time to wait and could it be done in twenty? No way, she said. Finally got a burrito the next night (PB no J) and was totally disappointed. It was like a big old slab of wet cement and tasted like barbecue baked beans for some reason. Tried it again a week later and ordered a chicken burrito. It was better than the other one but very bland. I like noise so the dining area and the pinball machine didn't bother me. There were two girls at the counter, one was helpful and friendly, the other seemed only to be there to fill out a tank top and gym shorts. I'll give it another try since its nearby, but I'm not optimistic.W

  • Dan C.

Poco Loco is not authentic mexican, nor is it authentic tex-mex, nor is it any good. Of the four meats I tried on soft tacos, all were bland throughout. The ground beef tastes just like something from a homemade old el paso kit. What makes this truly upsetting is that despite this it was the most flavorful meat I tried. Of course, it is impossible to fuck up tacos, so if you don't know better you'll still think they taste good - and they do, compared to a crunch wrap supreme at taco bell.

  • Veggie T.

I've been to the truck late night once before (not exactly sober) so decided to check out the restaurant and see what the tacos taste like when the sun is out. They were just as good as I (sorta) remembered! I had Green Monstah tacos and split an order of Avocado Fritters and Spanish rice with my friend. The tacos were awesome and were only $2 each! The fritters ($7 for an order) were a little dry but the dipping sauce was good. Doubt I'd order them again. The Spanish rice was decent and only $2. I'll go back (both drunk and sober).

Dannnng goood. I could eat thousands of their tacos. Can't resist the southwest and the napalm (pb and j is awesome too). The sheet pan nachos=huge delicious proportions . Poco Loco is affordable and tasty. Always depressed on a Sunday and Monday when the shop ain't open. I recommend the nachos, avocado fritters, tacos, and quesadillas. Not in love with the burrito's though : /.

I have been hearing a lot of good things about Poco Loco, both the food truck and the little restaurant. Stopped by the restaurant last night and enjoyed delish tacos and Queso dip. Oh, the Queso, yummy, yummy. Place had a steady stream of people coming in and out. You can eat in the shop or sit outside. Lots of people picking up take out. Very, very good food for a great price. A real value. And it is BYOB!!

Sound the horns! It's finally here! After a long stretch dominating the PVD taco truck scene, Poco Loco has finally set up a stationary store front down in Edgewood (between Cranston, Providence, and Warwick). It is basically fantastic. The menu inside is stacked with a few extra items that aren't available at the truck. The food, as many of us have come to know, is super delicious. I am personally excited about this spot, as it is just a 30 second detour from my daily afternoon commute home... there is currently a BYOB license... there is outdoor seating... and there is a place to grab a cold beer right across the street! What's better then that??? Went by for the grand opening today. There were cars parked bumper-to-bumper and a line out the door. It's no secret these guys make awesome taco-truck style Mexican food. My favorite is the Green Monstah, sans Jalepenos, add napalm sauce. If you don't already have a favorite, odds are you will come to find one. So stoked for this place!!!

It's okay, if you don't know what actual Mexican food is supposed to taste like. If you're from California, Arizona, etc. and are used to real Mexican food, you'll be disappointed.

NOT the "best damn taco shop in town". Honestly they aren't bad or anything, I'm not saying I'd never go back; but the beef tacos taste exactly like the ones you find at a buffet! Remember Wendy's salad/taco bar? Or Old Country Buffet? Same exact meat. And the chicken taco was completely flavorless. I had to drown it in Tabasco sauce.

Deeeeelicous! I went for a Friday afternoon lunch treat/work escape and I was so pleased that I did! The place is a cute little cozy shop. The food was fresh and delicious. The people working were kind and they bring your food right over to you. It seemed like it was pretty busy but luckily we were able to nab a table for munching. I had the naked burrito, which is basically their equivalent to a burrito bowl. It was so yummy in my tummy! They also had margarita cupcakes that day that were absolutely divine. If you happen upon those little magical treats don't skip it.

I can't believe I didn't write a review, oh, right I couldn't find a page for it. Anywho, I have eaten here enough to say its great, delicious, fresh, crunchy hot goodness that I wish the tacos were bigger. Luckily, I can just walk out my front door and be at the truck in no time. I definitely found these tacos way better than the del las ola truck (sp). The best part, its clean, well lit, prices are perfect for street food and of course, quick service.

  • Billy H.

Most of the flavors are fantastic. Distinct lack of Cilantro I've noticed. But that could be just the items I've ordered. The meats could be seasoned more as they are over powered by other ingredients. My biggest complaint is that the food is consistently cold or room temp at best. Fix those few issues and it would be 4 stars.

Stopped in to the Poco Loco truck on "Opening Day" when I saw all the cars and people lined up. Monkey See, Monkey Do - and I'm glad I did. No Tex-Mex food for miles in Pawtuxet; this stuff really hit the spot! Chorizo and Potato taco = yummy carb fest! With fresh cilantro thank you very much. Good Stuff! I hope they live long and prosper.

Poco Loco is great. It's fresh and cheap, the service is friendly every single time, you can sit outside and BYOB which is nice and lastly (and this cannot be overstated): The Queso Dip is sofa king good, it's crazy. The BLT taco is really yummy too.

Poco Loco has been riding the local hysteria for food trucks in the area. (Anyone from New York will be baffled by this since food trucks and carts have been a fixture there for eons). Now they have opened a tiny restaurant (probably more accurately referred to as a "take out place") in Edgewood. I have been there twice. The first time it was incredibly disorganized. It is always a surprise to be greeted at the counter with "I just need you to know that anything you order will take about half an hour" instead of just "Welcome to Poco Loco" or "Hi". This was a bad sign that these food truckees had not caught on to the idea that running a restaurant (or a take out place) is a different proposition then handing tacos out a window. The room is very small and it doesn't help that the owners have acquired a pinball machine. Note to owners: "lose the pinball machine the place is already noisy"). The food, when it came, was actually very good and very inexpensive although not hot which is odd because the kitchen is about 10 feet away from the tables- (go figure). The girls behind the counter were cute, nice and inept. The whole place seems to be a bit amateurish ("hey guys, let's open a restaurant!). But it was good enough to lure me back a second time last night. Once again I walked in and was greeted with what apparently is becoming their standard greeting: "I just need you to know that anything you order will take 25 to 35 minutes". There were a few people waiting...but no line and the wait was not explainable. This could be a great spot if these kids would get their act together and realize that Brown students might be willing to hang around a food truck waiting for their food but it is unlikely that Edgewood residents will do the same. I won't be back for a while. And when I return, I hope the place is being run with some semblance of professionalism or I won't be back again. Good food, cheap prices, no real service. I won't tell you to skip it, but you take your chances. Not good for large groups. Much better for take out than eat in. This review would be a three or four star if they could just get their act together.

My review would have been 4 stars if I had called ahead and ordered to go, but I decided to eat in. Don't get me wrong, the food is delicious, but I have a few problems with it: 1 - The dining room is small, cramped, and loud with an elementary school cafeteria vibe, fully equipped with an annoying pin-ball machine. 2 - The food takes way too long to order. There are 2 employees behind the counter and only 1 of them helps customers while the other one just stands there thinking she looks pretty. The line can get pretty long because they are incapable of helping more than one customer at a time. 3 - The food takes way too long to get to your table. It's a taco, not prime rib. How long does it take to throw some meat and veggies in a tortilla? With that said, if it takes 20 minutes to get the food, the meat in the taco should be hot, right? However, it is DELICIOUS and the price is right. I will eat Poco Loco again. But, it will be to go!

I want to like this place, I really do, but I haven't tasted anything I'd go back for so far. The first time I tried the pbj and napalm. The pbj was fine, but I guess I was expecting more mexican flavor. All I got from it was some pretty decent pulled pork bbq wrapped in a tortilla. The napalm was more disappointing..chicken doused in a sauce you'd get on buffalo wings. Not that I don't love a good buffalo sauce, but on a tortilla, it was nothing to write home about. On my second visit, I thought I might have better luck with the straight up tacos. Tried what the menu described as slow roasted pulled pork with onions, cilantro, pico, which I sounded like a more authentic mexican taco (not that Poco Loco has ever claimed mexican authenticity, just something I was hoping to find). The flavor, however, was thwarted by the dang bbq sauce again. As for the seasoned beef taco on a hard corn shell, I get that with the old el paso taco making kits they sell in the grocery store. The chorizadilla has been the best tasting item on the menu I've found, claiming a chorizo and potato hash. The chorizo in mine was lacking, however, and is still not enough to tempt me back to Poco Loco. I lived in Austin, TX for a few years. There's great little place called Torchy's Tacos which, like Poco Loco, started out as food trailer and, due to growing popularity, was able to establish its first restaurant shortly after. While Poco Loco may share the same humble beginnings as Torchy's, I don't see it progressing much past that. Torchy's, on the other hand, has since opened 8 locations in Austin, 2 in Dallas, and 1 in Houston. Poco Loco might want to check it.

This place is FANTASTIC! We've driven all the way from the Cape after discovering the restaurant. We've been to the Truck several times at various events they've attended and was thrilled when the restaurant opened. The Queso dip is to die for as well as the PBJ burritos. We begun to stock up for the winter in case we can't make it down. They freeze great and we always have Poco Loco when the craving hits.

Short and sweet. I have been looking forward to trying Poco Loco since it opened recently. Ordered a chicken burrito and was sorely disappointed. It was fine, but a little dry. Not sure I'd go back. Had a better burrito at Chipotle.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
