Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Blood Pressure at Pizza Hut

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. Try out the salads as they are not only healthy but also keeps you full for a longer period. However, you must ensure that you don't order the salads without any extra dressing.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

My husband and I met up with some family for dinner here recently, since we happened to be in Barrington and we had a restuarants.com certificate that needed to be used. After taking a look at the menu, it was a good thing that we had the certificate - the prices were pretty outrageous. I mean, I live in Boston and I dine out at nice places pretty frequently. Still, these prices shocked me. I mean, it's not NYC! The restaurant itself was very nice, with a classy, understated decor. Our servers were attentive and quite friendly, which was a big help, since we had two young kids with us. They brought over some crayons for them and engaged them in conversation. A nice touch. But speaking of the kids... The kids menu prices shocked me too. $10 for a bowl of pasta; $11 for a kids' pizza? I have never encountered prices like that on kids menus, even in Manhattan. I digress. I ordered the spinach and ricotta ravioli, which was described to come in a 'tomato and garlic broth' (but which was really just a tomato sauce, chunky, nothing brothy about it). Regardless of my issue with the classification, this dish was fantastic. The sauce was outstanding. My husband got the mushroom tortelloni sans pancetta, and as a mushroom devotee, he was pretty psyched with the dish. All of the other diners in our party were pretty happy with their dishes as well. My mom, who avoids gluten, got the eggplant parm with gluten free pasta. She said the eggplant was excellent, but she was not happy with the pasta. She left it all on her plate. It doesn't take much to please her, and there are good varieties of gluten free pasta, so hopefully they'll address this at some point. An easy fix. We will likely return to Pizzico, maybe for a date night or something, but only if we have a deal of some kind as the original menu prices are just too high. Price notwithstanding, this is a gem of a place.

I've been here a few times and always had great food and drinks. I like this location better than the Providence one for some reason. Staff is always friendly and they always have good deals and specials. Will definitely be back.

Mixed experience here. The food is quite good but pricey, even for Barrington. But they offer all sorts of great deals during the week (all pasta dishes for $15, entrees half off, etc, check their website) which makes going on weekdays a good option. The service is friendly but very slow, even when they are not that busy.

I went to Pizzicato this evening with a Living Social Voucher. Our server was clearly miffed we were using a voucher. He made us feel like we were cheap, and he did so by his actions, facial expressions and general mannerisms. There was one other set of patrons in the dinning area while we were there ( 5:30-6:30) and the waiter was jovial, pleasant and welcoming to the customers not using a coupon. ( Yes, you read that right - only 2 tables for dinner on a Thursday night.) I'm curious - why does the management offer these coupons (vouchers) when clearly the staff hates the idea? We were made to feel badly for using it, and that's just wrong. Maybe the Hope Street location is better. Avoid the Barrington location. Oh, our food? Well honestly the service was so disturbing the food was unenjoyable. I'll never go back, and neither will my dinner companion. We attended a local Barrington function after dinner and instead of talking about the function, we both found ourselves chatting about our ridiculously bad dinner experience. I don't think that was the kind of buzz they were looking to create.

My reply to Jim H, the owner. Who wouldn't need a hug (or a vomit bag) after eating in your restaurant? You need to find another line of business to work in, like sewage treatment. Obviously, your business acumen is severely lacking. Funny how you fail to point out all the other negative reviews left by other reviewers about your restaurant and what a train wreck it is. I provide honest reviews so people don't waste their time or money to get crappy service, especially in places like yours.

Recently went to the Barrington location after only going to Providence. The food was excellent. Not sure what the complaints are all about. The food here was just as good as the Providence location. Party had the sea bass, beef tenderloin, pumpkin ravioli, and salad with grilled scallops along with chicken parm for the kids. All excellent and well worth the price. Will return again.

I have been 3 times since they opened, somethings are really good and a lot is average. I like the eggplant tower and would come just for that during 1/2 price happy hour. The pizza was awful and the lemon chicken was below average. They have just a few boring taps. What I don't like is a OWNER labeling a bad review as a FAKE. This is one person's opinion- this is why these site exist. What is worse is when owners take down bad reviews to inflate the ratings- this doesn't work because an empty restaurant with a 4 star rating and bad food or service isn't going to make money. The only word of caution about Pizzico is that they have so many promotions and deals running at the same time, that if you aren't very careful you are going to overspend because you can only take advantage of one deal. Is this clever marketing or a shell game on the part of the owners- time will tell.

Went to the Barrington location for the first time last Friday and I must say the reviews I see posted on here are very inaccurate. The food was absolutely delicious we both had the bolognese and I must say it ranks in the Top 5 that we have had. We spend a lot of time on Federal Hill in Providence along with the North End of Boston and beyond and this definitely ranked right up there with the others. The service was on point and the friendly staff definitely was outgoing and helpful. We look forward to dining there again tonight!

Food was just ok. Soup came out warm/ cold. Ordered the special pizza of the night and they forgot to put the chicken on it! For the quality, I thought it was a bit expensive. And it didn't end when we left.. Got home and they gave us someone else's left overs with ours. No thanks. Not worth the $$$

  • Erin M.

They can be pricey but their half priced apps deal is worth it. Their margherita and italiam pizzas were delicious. If you're going for this deal make sure that you're sitting in the bar area, otherwise you won't get the deal.

Agree with several others, this place may be on the way out... No heat seemed to be on although it was dead of winter, they were out of over half their "wine list".. tried another visit thinking it was a fluke. The bartender was not very hospitable but I see now from other reviews it was because we went in for a drink and an app at 9:15pm. Never came back to check on us, never came back to see if we would like another round to finish our appetizer with. Fried oysters were cold, soup was the temperature of lava (aka microwaved).. I get having an off night but for this price point your customer service had better step it up a few notches.. We are all set, will stick to the million and a half restaurants within a 7 mile radius....before we even ordered they asked us about having one of the 25 "coupons" or "deals" that are circulating right now. Nothing says circling the drain like not making your liquor order or having 50% off on restaurant.com ....

Food is decent, but not the same caliber as the Hope St location in Providence. A bit expensive for the quality in my opinion. Have been here a few times now and this has been my experience consistently. Wait staff is friendly and helpful, but sometimes seem a as if they forget you are there. Homemade gelato was wonderful!

Food is always excellent, we eat there at least once a week-sometimes more. I used to frequent the Providence location but it was always hit or miss. The Barrington RI location is always a great experience. From the food to the staff always above and beyond. Highly recommend the Pumpkin Ravioli in a white parmesion/pesto sauce with diced tomatoes. The bread is fabulous! I must try!

I recently dined here on week night because I had a $40 voucher for food and wanted to try it out with a friend. The restaurant is nicely decorated and such but like many other reviewers have expressed, thats where the cheery comments end. I can tell you the restaurant must be trying to save on their electric bill because it is very dark. If we were not sitting by the window, my experience would have been rather depressing. Its also not very good to have dead bugs littered all over your window sill. Now, onto the menu. Its f****** ridiculous; $25 for pasta bolognese. I do not even think its that expensive in NYC. And to be completely honest, the dish lacked a specific (smooth) texture that you want, not this chunky sauce that doesn't coat the pasta. I've spent multiple hours making this sauce at home and their version is an abomination. My friend got an overcooked pizza that tasted like charcoal. The waitress was just rude and oblivious all night. After all this, I still ended up paying $30, which I was not expecting. This is probably one of the worst restaurants I have ever visited.

After a very disappointing experience at their East Side location, we tried this location with some trepidation. I'm glad to say that we had a much better meal this time. My kids tried the spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parm. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the marinara tasted like sweet, summer tomatoes with just the right acidity. The poached pear salad had a delightful, well balanced vinaigrette, the candied walnuts were sweet and crunchy, and the gorgonzola was richy, creamy, and a perfect salty complement. My wife got the mushroom risotto, which was well cooked, had a nice complex yet subtle flavor, and that perfect creaminess of good risotto. I tried the pollo limone, which was excellent. The chicken was moist and fork tender. The sauce was delicious, with the sweetness of sun-dried tomatoes, plenty of lemony zing, and puckering saltiness and earthiness from the capers. The service was good too. So why am I only giving them 3 stars. Because nearly every course missed, just a little. The bread had a nice parmesan crust. The crumb? Right up there with the best supermarket white bread. And the portions? For a party of 6, we got seven 1x1 inch cubes. The olive oil was mediocre too. My kids' pasta? The chicken parm was serviceable, but not great, and one of the meatballs was burnt on one side to the point that I literally couldn't cut it with a knife (the waitress was great and replaced it). The salad? Poached pears should be poached. These were crunchy raw.... And the pan seared polenta of my dish was frankly hard, well beyond golden brown or crunchy. Obviously some of my criticisms are pretty picayune. But, as other reviewers have mentioned, they're aiming for high end Italian. The food was good, and enjoyed the meal, but it's not top notch and it's a little overpriced for the quality. Three and half stars is probably about right.

Delicious pizza and scrumptious salmon. Good service, pleasant surrounding, an overall enjoyable experience. I cannot understand the negative reviews for this place. Yes, a bit expensive...but not enough to warrent criticism.

So I just read this again, and it refreshed my aggro on the matter: "Jim H. Business Owner hey asshole you obviously have an agenda here in your fake review. I suggest we meet face to face to "chat" about it. Punk coward. Douche bags like you cheap'n this site." A direct message to me from the owner. Just so y'all can see the integrity.

I had been in after they first opened and my experience was mixed. Not bad but not great. I was talking with someone who knows the owners and told me they were aware of the previous issues and made personnel changes last year, and that I should try again. So I gave them another shot and I was impressed!! I've always loved the decor - very trendy and stylish. The service was quick and courteous, and the food was great. I went in for lunch and had the Clams Zuppa. Highly recommended!

  • Brittany R.

First off...it is so dark in there that I could barely see my fiance who was seated right next to me; our waitress was fairly obviously new so she struggled a bit; the coloring on the table "cloths" is cute but doesn't really fit the atmosphere; the food was pretty decent, I'd go back maybe a bit earlier in the day so the sun will shine some light in...

I've been here a few times and the food is pretty good. The owner responded to my yelp question promptly. Answer: you may bring your dogs and enjoy our outside patio at both locations. How cool is that?

  • Nicole B.

Really cool atmosphere--trendy and cool, but still casual, with an open-restaurant kitchen. The before-meal bread left much to be desired (dry and bland with plain olive oil for dipping) but the food was quite good. I had the margherita pizza with balsalmic glaze which was a good portion for the price. We went on the first weekend night that the place was open and the kitchen staff threw away my friend's meal instead of boxing it, by accident. The manager offered to comp the meal or make another to go.

  • Kay P.

I have only been to the one in Barrington once and I wasn't impressed with the service or the food (and I am a creature of habit and usually get one of three items), but it could have been an off night of the luck of the draw with our server. But I can say that the many times I have been to the Providence location I have always been thoroughly pleased. The food is consistent and the service is wonderful. I always get the Fungie con Pollo (I'm sure I have that spelled wrong) it's wild mushrooms with chicken in a slightly sweet creamy mustard sauce and comes with grilled asparagus and roasted fingerling potatoes-- awesome sauce. But recently I changed my tune and tried the Pumpkin seed crusted salmon with sweet brandy glaze and those tasty grilled asparagus with roasted potatoes. Don't scoff at the idea that both dishes come with the same sides, they are really good and go with everything -- if it ain't broke... I am usually too full for dessert but the tiramisu and espresso looks divine. I will return again and maybe try an app or two and skip right over to dessert.

It's funny. It's always about first impressions and this edition of Pizzico should have been a perfect plug and play. It wasn't. The Barrington Times quoted - we changed the lighting and opened the kitchen. Yes they did. You're sittings the dark and Don't let you party be seated at the tables near the kitchen it's a sauna. And when they flame a dish on the range it's like a solar flare going off and your sure to get a nuclear sun burn. The first review talked about the bread I can't even believe its a point of contention but the bread was awful. Stale - tasteless and an early indicator of not paying attention to the details. Yes - I know it's there first couple of weeks but that's elementary foundational first impression stuff. The waitress was "peppy and sweet" and proceeded to tell us that everything was farm to table and that they were out of all the specials for the week. We set specials for the week on Thursdays and it was Wednesday night. so think about this ...if they have any specials left on Wednesday night - is it's a week old ?. When I said that to her - her jaw dropped. I guess no sense of humor. The food when it finally got to the table. On a 1 to 10 - was a solid ...mediocre. My wife makes better pasta dishes at home. The al dente pappardelle was al hardo and starched together with manwich bolegnese. Remember the bread - not even dunking it could make it better than it was naked.. Too bad. Are ya listening pizzico. Spend a couple of extra bucks and get some real bread. It makes a difference. Two couples four people. 2 salads 3 pasta dishes a tomato soup and grille cheese combo. Two wines and a diet soda. Tax and tip. $ 150 bucks. $75 bucks a couple on a Wednesday night for 3 pounds of pasta with different sauces some lettuce and crappy bread - oh and who's bright idea was it to float the grilled cheese sandwich IN the soup. Sloppy mess. Once the newness wears off and everyone figures out that the price point is "not relevant " we may see this become just a redo of Chiazza's. Just my opinion and all of this could have started and been avoided because of ..... Bread..

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
