We just stopped at NC for a quick bite before heading back to NYC. Service was amazing, the nicest group of waiters I've experienced in ages. And the food was very good - delicious veggie quesadilla and of course, chocolate frappe. I grew up near the Mystic NC so I have fond memories of this place. Highly recommend for a casual meal, and great for kids.

I honestly don't mind Newport Creamery's food! I recently went there for breakfast and although service was slow, the food I ordered was delicious. They were trying out new breakfast foods so I'm not sure that what I ordered was permanent but I had a breakfast quesadilla filled with eggs, bacon, and cheese and it was SO good! I would order this repeatedly if I had the chance. The renovations they made at this location also spruce up the place a lot!

Came for dessert. The ice cream is great the service is very friendly but s-l-o-w. They were busy, and the servers are all high school kids so I'll cut them some slack. Great spot for ice cream after a long day.

Considering I'm in here every few weeks I figured it was time to admit that, yes, I am a fan of Newport Creamery. The Barrington location has been updated with a new layout and decor style which is oddly reminiscent of the 1980's. But whatever, it's freshened up a bit. Newsflash: Newport Creamery is a glorified diner. So if you are expecting 5 star service and 5 star food prepared by a Michelin-rated chef.....keep walkin'. That being said..... I still say their ice cream is my favorite. Peppermint Stick tops my list, then black raspberry and then coffee. Awful, Awful is the way to go if you want a "milkshake". Sit down service is decent. They have an OK breakfast menu that is fairly priced but skip the home fries for sure....gross. I still appreciate the few vegetarian options on the menu. And I don't care if they aren't house made because I will always love the seasoned fries. Don't take your date here for the first time. However, if it's late and one of you wants a milkshake and the other wants a burger, then Newport Creamery is the place to be.

Don't understand why anyone would eat the food here. Just about everything is frozen and reheated or microwaved. I know for a fact, a friend of mine worked there as a chef. if you're going there for ice cream that's a totally different story, but if its food your looking for, get yourself a meal you couldn't make at home.

Been to this location a couple of times and I have to say it's not too bad. The food tastes pretty good everytime I go. Fries are crispy. Ice cream and awful awful's are delicious. They accommodate large parties and handle them pretty good( Had a group of 25 people and had excellent service). Good food , reasonable prices and quantity.

I've been going there since I was a little kid. In high school we would do the Awful Awful challenge and drink three to get one free. They were bigger back then too, and they cost three bucks. A super burger platter with fries. Mmmmm. Not the way it used to be. One star for how far they've fallen. I live a couple blocks from the Creamery and get take out, maybe once a month. I can't sit in a restaurant full of screaming kids running around! You lose too many brain cells being constantly exposed to children anyway. I like the steak and cheese sandwich with onions and mushrooms. I like it best when they don't burn the heck out of it. I like the big beef cheeseburgers on toast. I like that best when they remember the patties and don't send me home with grilled cheese. Burger in the rye is good. Chopped sirloin with mashed potatoes. Club sandwiches. All good. One regular item I don't like is their coleslaw. It has red vinegar on it. Watered down and not so good. No mistake about it, I make the kids open my boxes before I take them home. You'd be surprised how often they obliterate a hamburger or forget my fries... My most recent trip, they burned my steak in my philly cheese steak sandwich as black as a Goodyear tire. I was there to collect a free hamburger because last time, they burned that black... Back when they had a gray haired manager that supervised and worked the grill, the place was tight. Today, hit or miss. It's a shame because we could use a burger joint. If any of the local fat cats put a McDonalds in this town, I think they would be toast. Today, the food is not what it used to be and that's too bad. We used to get hot dogs, clam rolls, chopped sirloins with onion rings. It's all very TV dinner like today. On their ice cream, I might buy a half gallon. I'm not paying $5 for an ice cream cone at the creamery. I can go another 200 yards to Scoops and get home made ice cream. I have to say that I have had better luck with the Creamery in East Providence near the old Showcase Cinema. I get lunch and breakfast there too and it does seem to be better.

Recently we ate here. The place is dirty and way understaffed. The bathroom is dirty too. The food was terrible, the hamburger buns were stale. I used to live in Barrington, and have found memories of this Eatery establishment. They need to clean it up now. Won't be back

The reason why I stop here is for the Awful Awful drink; brings back memories from growing up in RI and I enjoy having the unique RI treats when I am back visiting family. At this particular Newport Creamery we lucked out because on Mondays you can buy one get one free. I ordered low fat coffee while my wife ordered something with mint. The food is not all that great and seems over priced to me for a quality of food it is, although I did already know this coming in. The biggest reason why this is a two and not a three is that many of the waiters and waitresses were sharing their gossip stories within earshot of myself and my wife. Unprofessional; please go in the back at the very least. Very popular please for the young ones and the senior crowd, we were the only ones there at lunch in our age range.

We had heard about their Awful Awful and decided to give the place a try. It was a nice family restaurant with nothing special. The food was ok but nothing really stood out. We tried a junior awful awful and while it was ok it did not change ours lives as advertised. Iced milk with flavoring. Sort of boring if you want a real ice cream milk shake. Maybe I am just not used to them but...... A scoop of their ice cream to end was very good. Not great but ok.

I grew up with the creamery and pleased to be able to share it with my grandkids . It's a family place for a quick meal and great ice cream. There known for there awful awful 's. This are shakes I grew up on. It was a special day out to stop and get one. Vanilla is a favorite of mine, it's worth the calories!! The red and white cups that they come in are a original from childhood. I love that they haven't changed much . The ice cream still comes in the green and white striped containers. Something's don't have to change at all. If your ever in the area it's a definite stop. Enjoy . Remember where and who you heard this from. ;)

I grew up with Newport Creamery so I give it 5 stars for the nostalgic feel that I have for it and that it has barely changed!! It is the good ol' creamery with the famous Awful Awful!!! We came and brought the kids for breakfast. We sat immediately and our waitress is great!! The food came out fast and it was good! Now look this is not a gourmet restaurant, it's a step above a dinner IMO. Can't beat a coffee awful awful after. The prices for a Jr. One are a bit high for the tiny cup they get. I say just get a big one because it is worth the money! They have a walk up windows to get an ice cream on the go or sit outside at your car!

Food was very good and reasonably priced. However the problem was the service. Server was very friendly but hardly came by the table for drink refills. She made a number of mistakes in placing the order and seemed to be more interested in talking to coworkers instead of waiting tables.

It looks like I'm a minority in my love for Newport Creamery. It's diner food, a bit like what Friendly's used to be years ago. There's no specials, aside from a couple seasonal ice cream flavours and the soups of the day. The menu has been nearly the same for as long as I can remember. It's not fancy, but it's good and the menu staples are relatively inexpensive. Why go here? For one, the Awful Awful. It's a Rhode Island thing: an extra thick milkshake named for being "awful big, awful good". It's pretty much a dessert in its standard form, but they do have junior sizes. Or hey, if you can drink three of them, the fourth is free. The second is the in-house red relish. It has a little more bite than run of the mill green and goes great on grilled hot dogs. The third is their clam chowder, which is always one of the three soups of the day. It's not thin or watery, like so many places serve, and you can reliably find actual clams in it, instead of just random chunks of potato with a little clam juice thrown in for good measure. Getting a bowl of it makes for a good, solid lunch. Breakfast is good, too, especially the homefries. I kind of wish they served them all day. The seasoned fries are also worth a go-round, too, though I prefer the traditional ones. I'm a little biased when it comes to service here. My daughter and I are regulars. One of the things I love about coming here is the waitstaff. There are a few waitresses and a manager who not only remember my daughter's name, but always stop over to say hi. I've never had bad service at this location. It's still diner-style, though. You can sit around the lunch counter, if you like, and there are always parents doing restaurant dry runs here. Sometimes it's a little chaotic, especially towards the earlier end of the lunch rush. I recall them using the slogan "Stop at the sign with the golden cow", referencing their mascot, Goldie. It's definitely still true.

Went here for a bite to eat on Saturday night with some friends. Being from California I was told that Newport Cremery was a great place to go and they raved about the service and food. However it was completly the opposite. The waitress was not intelligent at all, she brought out my friends salads that were not edible at all, the lettuce was brown and witly. I know it is the end of the night but come on. Get a clue. When she told he manager he didn't even come over to apologize. My floats were okay nothing to write home about, I ordered a waffle, the waffle came cold, my friends burger and grilled cheese were made wrong. My first experience to Newport Cremery will be my first and last.

it's OK. there's nothing really to review. totally standard food, nothing spectacular. totally standard wait staff. totally standard ice cream. the prices are good, and since it's some sort of institution in the Newport area it's worth going to once. no need to go back, though, unless you've a hankering for an Awful Awful!
