this was our 3rd visit and each time has been worse than the other. ordered the 50/50. it was dry and had a single leaf of lettuce. our food was out in about 6 minutes. our bill was $61.00 (1 small beer and 1 glass of wine ). way over priced !

Shubrew is a wonderful addition to the Zelienople community. A great place to meet old and new friends with good beers and unique food. I remember when this location was a pizza shop during my high school days. Shubrew speaks to the renovation of Main Street, Zelienople. Cheers, Shubrew

GREAT CRAFT BEER, GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE! The craft beer is wonderful. They also have locally made wines, mead and hard cider. The food is homemade and delicious. One must try the homemade Schmac & Cheese and of course the pizzas are fabulous. Great small town pub feel. Wonderful employees, very friendly. While they do not have a kids menu, what child doesn't like pizza or homemade Mac & Cheese.

IF I went back, not saying I would....I would order the pizza. Can't be as rough as I normally would since they just opened. I hope the get it figured out. Good start would be buying a dimmer for the spotlights above my head. Its early so plan accordingly, as expected very slow.

I'd give it 5 stars, but I would only save 5 stars for something that was amazingly spectacular. Great new local place. The in-house brewed beer is the star of the show there. They have cider and wine in addition to the beer (no hard liquor). I have had the pizza and the beer cheese with bread. The pizza is great thin-crust pizza and they have many different unique varieties. I've had the margharita and the pepperoni. Both were very good. The beer cheese with the bread (it was like bruschetta pieces) was very good also, great pub food. They have some other sammiches and such also. Not typical bar food, no fried stuff - just good pub food that you might not feel quite as guilty about eating, and goes well with the home-brewed beer. The beer is very tasty and the lineup changes.

Was pretty disappointed with our experience there. Very crowded floor space and odd layout for a restaurant, almost seems like there is more space behind the bar for the employees than in front for the patrons. We had to stand along a wall, almost on top of other patrons while waiting for a table. Additionally, the beers were all mediocre and disappointing. I'm not very picky and thought that I'd at least like one of the offerings but didn't. It's a shame, Zelie needs a place like this. Hopefully things will improve.

I always like to try local brew pubs and this place didn't disappoint. The place it's self is small but that didn't hamper the experience. They had 4 in house beers on tap that were worth trying. Had the nacho to start a little small for the price but good. Had a pizza and a the wife had a blt sandwich both were good. All and all not a bad little joint

We were quite pleased to find this restaurant/brewery in Zelienople. We were immediately able to find a table for five on a Friday evening, but I imagine this might change in the next 6 months. We each ordered a different drink and were all pleased, especially with the stout. Very good beers. My husband and I ordered the Chicka Chicka pizza, and friends ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the bratwurst special. Comments included inconsistent cooking, curry not being present in the curry potato salad, and flavorless crust. Favorable comments included excellent shmac and cheese and BBQ sauce. The service was fine, but still finding its way. Everyone was very nice, and we expect this will be a hotspot in the near future.

Good beer but sandwich and soup overpriced at $10. Soup came out cold and sandwich felt store bought and didn't have much too it. Pizza looked much better and is the way to go if you intend on eating here. If you are expecting North Country Brewing, think again. They just opened and they'll get things worked out as they go. Great place for a beer and hand crafted beers.

ShuBrew has to definitely be one of the smallest brew pubs I've ever been to (not a bad thing). As such, there's a bit of a welcome aura that it gives off being a small place where the owner is actively involved in the front of house, back of house and brewing. The beers themselves are decent. They use a simple brew setup that is placed off to the side of the bar and that looks like it's setup for 10 gallon batches given the kettles are kegs. I got a four beer sampler and liked everything but the IPA, which isn't too bad for a new place! Food options are limited, but everyone in the restaurant seemed to dig what they were eating. Although the pizza looked great, we settled on bacon mac and cheese at the recommendation of another patron at the bar... a recommendation that was completely valid. Everything you'd want in mac... creamy, cheesy, etc. If you find yourself in the area, I'd definitely recommend stopping in for at least a drink!

A very tasty and reasonably priced place. The beers are solid and tasty. They are not my favorite, but are worth the trip. The food was very good. I had the bacon, lettuce, and roasted red pepper sandwich. The bacon was thick and yet still crisp. It was very good. The soup of the day was beer cheese, and it was perfect. I had a bite of my friend's macaroni and cheese, and that was creamy and delicious.

I'm originally from Beaver Falls now living in Tampa. When I was researching craft breweries to visit on my recent trip back to the Falls I found Shubrew. Now my first thought was that Zelienople and craft brewing dont even belong in the same sentence. The fine folks over at Subrew proved me quite wrong. The building appears to be an old house original to Zelienople that is now converted to the existing brewpub. It is rather small on the inside with limited seating at the bar and a couple of smaller tables. They do have a small outdoor seating area if you cannot find a seat inside. I was aware of the seating situation prior to arriving from other user reviews. So we arrived shortly after opening and sat at the bar with no problem. We placed our order for drinks. I got the 210 pale treated with real grapefruit and my wife got an unsweetened tea (lame). The 210 pale was of the charts good! The perfect amount of Hops and a great nose of grapefruit. We also ordered the special of lamb tacos and the 50/50 burger. The Tacos were like a Gyro on a tortilla with out the processed Gyro meat. So tender and flavorful they didn't last 5 minutes. Then we dug into that 50/50, wow! I'd like to shake that guys hand who mixed bacon and beef to make on of the tastiest burgers I've ever had. Oh and the Mac and Cheese was pretty fabulous as well. So I followed up the food with one more beer which was the DIPA Flamingo Lips. And it was literally one of the best DIPA's I've had. And I've had over 450 and have Untappd to back me up. So when I say that I mean it. Their beers are aggressively hopped and if your into crap lagers go drink your macro brews somewhere else. This place is for beer drinkers who really enjoy the taste of beer. So as you can tell we really enjoyed the beer and food and we will be back on our next trip home. Cheers!

If you like excellent craft beers, a big selection of delectable homemade food, friendly service and customers, all in a clean, cozy, charming space, then go to ShuBrew. It's love at first bite/drink! THE BEER WAS TOP TIER! We enjoyed a few different pints: the Jungleboot IPA was our favorite (and other regular customers' too) with citrusy flavor and hops that were perfectly balanced, and the Rosemary ale was a tasty treat (the rosemary enhanced the hops nicely). The Irish Red was simple and nice, less hoppy than the other two. All the beers packed a pleasant punch, too ;) FOOD WAS SCRUMDIDDLYUMPTIOUS! We had the hummus with cucumbers and pita crisps (to die for if you're a garlic lover!), Caesar salad (big, fresh and tasty) and two pizzas: the Vampire's Lament (fresh tomato and melted cheese with garlic overtones) and Galosha Raptor's Favorite (homemade version of sausage and pepperoni pizza--the crumbled pepperoni was a wonderful twist on an old favorite)...best part of the pizzas was the crust--fresh, and a perfect blend of crispy and doughy. BONUSES: the house record player and collection of vinyl; the wall-sized US map of craft beers from every state; several original works of art inspired by ShuBrew's original beers (e.g. Jungleboot IPA, Galosha Raptor, Murphy's Paw); a poster from The Oatmeal all about beer WE CAN'T WAIT FOR OUR NEXT VISIT TO PITTSBURGH! Zack brews a wide variety of beer, and their taps rotate often, and they have several mainstays. The menu evolves every few months. ShuBrew is what every brew pub aspires to be!

After dinner at Burgh'ers this past Friday night, my boyfriend and I decided to take a short drive down the road to Shubrew to finish off the night with a couple more drinks. When we walked in, it's a very small space and there were no seats open at the bar. There were about 5-6 tables in the front and a few in the back, not all were occupied. We started off with 2 drafts-an O'shu (described as an Irish red ale with a low hop profile and a malty sweetness with a hint of honey), and a mosaic Marathon (their pale ale with citrus and floral hints). I did not care for the O'shu because that is not really to my liking, however, I loved the Mosaic marathon! We also had a Rebelworks cider while we were there too. Unfortunately since we had already eaten dinner, we did not get to try any of the food, however, we were both in agreement that we need to return to sample a pizza since the one that came out for the couple next to us looked oh so yummy! I highly recommend stopping into ShuBrew if you ever find yourself north of the city. This is a great local business to support!

Ok ... So I rarely give a 5 star rating ... Sure I can be bought off for one but this certainly is not the case. This place is FANTASTIC!!! Everything about the night I just experienced here could not have been better if I HAD been bought off ... Even the place being way too small for the number of people there didn't hinder the establishments ability to handle the flow effectively and efficiently. So I'll start with the obvious. Beer. These guys brew great beer. Period. Even styles I don't necessarily like, like a pale ale was great. The Irish Amber was so good I had to buy a growler to take home!! Food. French onion soup was just perfect and their pizza was awesome as well. The service was the best part though. The owners were deep in the mix the entire night making certain at all times that everyone was we'll take care of ... These guys deserve the 5. If you haven't been .... GO! Even if it means a drive. Hey yinz Pittsburghers. We dive south ALL the time. Now it's your turn to head north and visit a GREAT brew house and restaurant. You won't be sorry!!!

I love trying out local establishments. This place is definitely a small town gem and I was pleasantly surprised. I had heard great things about this place from friends that live in the area, so I decided to try it out. I got the Jungleboot IPA and it was a fantastic IPA. You can tell that it is home brewed because towards the end there was sediment at the bottom. My boyfriend got the Half Shus and said it was very good as well. The food was outstanding as well. I got the Birds and the ries and my boyfriend got the Georgia O'Beeffe on the recommendation of our super nice waitress. Both were better than we had anticipated at a place of its size. We also got the dessert, which was an apple pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream they made themselves!! Delicious! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that was in the area. The owner was there and she was super friendly and kept asking us how everything tasted and was great to talk to. We will definitely be going back.

Def my favorite place to eat out. Top recommendations: shmac & cheese, this little piggy got pulled, and the galosha raptor pale ale! Service is outstanding, food always comes out fast and exactly how it is described. A great local brewpub for the small town of Zelienople. Keep up the great work Zach & Erica!

We stopped by for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. The place was vacant except for a family with two little kids. We took a table in the back. Service could have been a whole lot better. The lone server was more interested in cleaning out her purse or visiting with the cooks, rather than serving customers. And in such a small space, the employees should realize that everyone can hear everything they are saying. Also, she didn't seem to know the menu which is strange because the menu is pretty small. BJ tried Heart and Soul, which is a red ale. The beer was really good. For his meal, he got the Shredded Mother Clucker. It was described as shredded chicken smothered in chipotle beer BBQ sauce, topped with gruyere & bacon. The smother was missing, not enough flavor. The side of coleslaw was good. I got a house salad. It had red onion, tiny bits of celery, very few little pieces of chopped tomato, kalamata olives, and feta cheese. Dressing choices were Ranch, House Vinaigrette or vinegar & oil. That's it. I opted to go without. Pretty much a disappointment. We love to support small local places. But there are too many good places to eat, we probably won't be going back for awhile.

Great food (especially the shmac and cheese), craft brews, and overall atmosphere. It's a nice gem in a small town. We will be back again soon.

Ok, just got here for my birthday. We'll see. So far my karate pig is awesome. Beer as a home brewer is respectable. I would give it higher marks but that would down grade my beer . Music is dead head and folk. I will get back to you. Ps: it is we'd at 0500, somebody likes it, there is a packing house. Dinner was outstanding, all food was made from scratch and there are no deep fat fryers on the property!! Strongly recommend this micro brew pub to all. Environment is casual and friendly. Best kept secret in Zelienople!!

Shubrew is a small place on the main street of Zelienople. It tends to fill up in the evenings. Very clean. Knowledgeable Staff. Nice selection of beers on tap and excellent food. I have never had anything bad here. A few favorites from the menu are the burger, which is a combination of ground beef and bacon, and the schmack and cheese. (try jalapenos on both). I"ve had a few of the pizzas, with the vegetable being my favorite even though I tend to be a meat eater. I love the mushrooms and the Kalamata olives they use on it. My wife is a big fan of the Ramen bowl. I recently had the Hugh Heffer, which was absolutely delishious. Very tender, perfectly cooked steak, with a demi glace and topped with an egg. Served with shiitake mushrooms, and rice with mixed vegetables. Fantastic! The menu changes and there is always something interesting. On to the beer! The selection varies and there is usually something for every taste. Nathan the bartender is always on top of things, and is very helpful with food and drink recommendations. Prices for the beer are usually around $5 a pour. The growler fills are a bargain. My personal preference is for IPAs and dark beers, with current favorites being the Boot Camp Double IPA, the Jungle Boot, and the Shumrock Irish stout, which has a nice smokey quality. The Fra-gee-lay winter warmer is also very good when available, as is the Bier de Garde. I have never had a bad beer here, just some styles I prefer more than others. If in doubt order the sampler, or ask for a taste. They are very accommodating. Shubrew is a great place. Excellent service. Clean and family friendly. I don't think you can go wrong here.

I can't say enough great things about this place. The food is amazing, the beer is great and there are always new varieties to try every time you come in, and the staff is very friendly. If you live in the area or are just passing through please take the time to stop at this amazing establishment and try any of the beers on tap and some of the menu items (the pizzas are my personal favorite) and you will be happy that you did!

By far exceeded all expectations that I had. Best pizza in western Pennsylvania, specifically the sausage party. Also some of the best craft beer that PA has to offer.

Everything you want from a brewery. Delicious food and crisp, clean west coast IPAs. We have been here 4 times in the past month and are planning our trip back. Everything is awesome on the menu- especially the 50/50 burger! Half bacon and half beer-can't beat it'

This place is so warm & welcoming! Everyone is friendly, like that small town Zelienople "Cheers" type of establishment. My husband tried the beer flight & he said it was equal if not better than the East End in Pittsburgh! I'm not a huge beer drinker but I thoroughly enjoyed the McKenna hard cider! We had some apps which were tasty! Will definitely go back to this home town feel pub/restaurant!

Stopped in to ShuBrew last night with friends. It was our first time here. I'd driven past this place on Rt 19 in Zelienople, PA a dozen times and had heard it was pretty good. ShuBrew is a small place. Not a lot of seats inside, but it was a nice night so we chose to sit outside. This place is known as a craft brew house. ShuBrew is only open a few days per week so their brews are fresh. The brew list is pretty unique, with numerous choices. I selected the "downtown Murphy Brown" a dark beer that doesn't really taste like a dark beer. It was really good. I was pleasantly surprised by their food. I ordered a pizza, not expecting much from a brew house, but it gotta say, it far exceeded my expectations. Their crust was fantastic. In addition, we ordered their Mac-in-cheese (Shmac and cheese) which was the best MC I've had in a long time. We added "shustrings" to the MC, which were deep fried chicken skins. Sounds gross, but they were awesome, and really made the MC even better. Overall, we all really liked ShuBrew and we will definitely go back to try out their other beers and food.

My husband and I have been to ShuBrew a couple of times and we love it! The pizza is awesome(crust is as good as Fiores) and the beer is something to talk about. We enjoy craft beers and ShuBrew does a great job of delivering some delicious options. Great service and atmosphere. Get there early on busy weekend nights as tables will fill up fast. It's worth the wait!

We ate here on Day 3 of being open. While it was good, there is still some work to iron out a few things as the restaurant continues to get up and running. Looking forward to seeing what they do as I am confident that it will only continue to improve. The pizza dough was delicious--full of flavor while the right amount of both fluffy and chewy. Would have liked the bottom crust to be a bit crispier, though the toppings were just right. I can see myself eating a lot of their pizza. House salad was great. Love that it comes with kalamata olives, and the creamy house vinaigrette was really nice. Was looking forward to trying the Zelie No Steak sandwich, but they were out of portobellos. They were happy to make me a veggie sandwich with other veggies on-hand, which I certainly appreciated. However, the result wasn't a sandwich I would ask for again. I will go back to try the original sandwich as it was supposed to be eaten. All the beer is brewed in house (as well as root beer that I want to try next time!). The beer flight was fun to try several at once, and also a great deal. For 4 ounce drafts for only $7.50. There is also local wine and cider in the menu. Can't wait to go back and try some of the appetizers that also sound great, in addition to their mac & cheese and a root beer float.

First time patron here and thought it was great. Had the special Figgy PIggy Pizza with figs, carmelized onions, bacon and balsamic drizzle. Was absolutely delicious. Limited menu but young couple trying to get a new business up and running they can't take on too much. He brews his own beer and they also serve wine.

Great new place. Glad to see Zelie's got a brewpub. My hubby said his pizza was really yummy. He also enjoyed his beer. I was disappointed with the visit because the place is really, really small, and crowded. There didn't seem to be a plan on how to be seated and the staff seems to be all over the place with out "stations" to man. I also can't eat milk, and they put cheese on everything. And I mean everything. (I think there were 2 items with out cheese on the entire menu). I was able to order an item and omit it. But since I'm not a huge drinker, the food in a brew pub really needs to impress me, and as far as a place to eat, I found it to be just ok. I do hope they do well. I can see that it has a lot of potential. I might try it again in a few months.

I have eaten at ShuBrew at least five times and each time it gets better. I think the food is par excellence! Everything is made fresh daily and made to order. Thge Shmac(mac, cheese and bacon) is wonderful and very tasty. My favorites are the Greek pizza( vegetarian pizza with olives, spinach, onions and feta cheese) and the pulled pork sandwich with their homemade coleslaw. I have also sampled the various home brews. I liked all of them. The staff was friendly and courteous and I had no issues with service. One word of caution, because it gets crowded fast, I would recommend you go early at 5PM or after 9PM. Otherwise you might have to wait to be seated.

I stopped by on a Friday after work with a group of co-workers for dinner and drinks. The food was great! I highly recommend the Bees Knees appetizer! It was excellent....a brie cheese appetizer smothered in a bacon beer jam! Everyone loved the beer as well. We will definitely be going back!!!

Craft brews we tried were amazing! Shmac n cheese was wonderful! Kid friendly, they even have a high chair. Our 4 yr old had a side of Shmac n cheese she did not finish. All the kids had their home brewed root beer which was yummy. I had a BLM with a side salad that I give 5 stars. The side salad has feta, kalamata olives, red onions. My husband and 11 yr old twins had the burger and pulled pork sandwich also. Homemade pumpkin ice cream for dessert was delicious. I would give 5 stars but my finicky hard to please kids give 4 stars. Which means Shu Bru is top notch.

  • Bob B.

If I was just drinking the beer I'd give it 3-4 stars. However, this place makes food from scratch and is family friendly. How many local breweries can say this? Shu-bee-doo and Boot Camp are very solid Imperial IPAs. My steak and pork tacos were not great, but tasty enough. Come here if you can.

Zelie, I hope you appreciate your local brew pub. I know I do, even though I have, shamefully, only been to ShuBrew twice as of last night. It's a shame because I know it's a great place, and until recently, I lived just a few minutes down the way in Cranberry. But I digress. When my boyfriend suggested we go to ShuBrew for their first ever Four Course Valentine's Day Beer Pairing, I didn't hesitate to say yes. I was highly overdue for another visit since my first about a year ago. As others have pointed out, it's a small space, which makes it intimate. However, if they were somehow able to expand the footprint a bit some day, I don't think it would be a bad thing. The weather was awful, so we left ourselves a lot of time to get there and find parking, and we ended up being a half hour early for our seating. We were fully prepared to sit down and order a beer and wait, but Zach and crew accommodated us early, and we proceeded to delight in the following: 1st Course - ShuFish Stew, paired with Tillies Ghillies _Two giant plates came out with some earthy looking mushrooms, clams, and oysters. Then a creamy broth was poured out over top. The effect was fantastic; the broth had *just* a hint of sweetness, but it wasn't too heavy and it let the seafood and mushrooms stand out. It worked well with the Tillies Ghillies, which is malty and also has a hint of sweetness. In fact, it was probably my favorite beer of the evening. 2nd Course - Pork Belly, paired with Sole Ambition _A perfectly poached duck egg atop a bed of frisée with sexy hunk of pork belly greeted us next. My hats off to the chef, because this was an artful pairing of food and beverage. I mixed the creamy duck egg into the peppery frisée and cut delicate slices of the sweet and salty pork belly to accompany it, for I wanted to savor every.last.bite. Everything complemented one another so well. Now, admittedly, I'm not a huge IPA fan, and Sole Ambition is solidly that. Grapefruity and hoppy through and through. My boyfriend IS, however, solidly in the IPA camp, and his face lit up like a Christmas tree when our server brought it out. He ended up downing his and about 3/4ths of mine! Haha. That said, I appreciated the way Sole Ambition paired with the sweet glaze on the pork belly. Ohhhh that pork belly. 3rd Course - Filet mignon, paired with Cindy Lou Shu _This expertly prepared hunk of filet (read: medium rare, but not cold in the middle at all, and slices up like butter) on a pile of roasted mashed fingerling potatoes, swimming in a fig reduction was certainly worthy of high praise. I do have a personal preference for my meat and potatoes to be on the saltier side, however, this was not under-seasoned by any stretch. I'm pretty sure it was my boyfriend's favorite, judging from how he completely cleared his plate in under 5 minutes and looked like he was eyeballing mine too. The Cindy Lou Shu is a strong dark Belgian, so now we were back in my comfort zone. It, too, has a figgy undertone, so it didn't compete with the sauce on the dish. 4th Course - Chocolate Lava Cake, paired with Shuck Her Gently _Home run, guys. Home run. This bad boy came out with salted caramel ice cream and a hazelnut meringue. I don't know what else to say; it was heavenly. Shuck Her Gently is an oyster stout, which I've never tried before. I do really like stouts, however, so I was on board. The "burnt toast" taste went over big with the boyfriend; by this point in the game I was pretty full and maybe even a little bit on sensory overload with the mind-blowing chocolate lava cake. I would love to try this beer again with a thin crust pizza or something similarly light, though. Service was top notch. The kitchen was really on point; everything came out a bit before I was quite ready for it, actually. I won't necessarily say that's a bad thing, especially since the place was starting to fill up solidly by the time we were finished with the four courses. We weren't quite ready to shove off just as soon as I scraped the last of the chocolate lava cake off of my plate--stopping just short of licking it--so we each got a pint of Moo Shu, which I had been eager to try for ages. It's one hell of a chocolate stout. Too bad I was so stuffed by this point that I only finished about a third of it. Don't worry, we'll be back for more.
