Bad! Don't go! Their chicken is so greasy and poor taste. Awful experience comparing to what I was had before!!!!!

As far as Popeye's goes this is one of the better locations. I have never been inside the place. I've only ever used the drive-thru, about a dozen times or so. The service is quick and polite. The food is always hot. And I never have a major wait (which is a big concern at a lot of other Popeye's that I've visited).

They must be doing something right because I've never seen so many cars at a drive-thru. The interior of the restaurant is very nice and brings some class to what essentially is just another fast food joint. I'm sure there are some sensitive poultry lovers that would prefer the more upscale atmosphere of Popeyes to the no-frills vibe of Crown Fried Chicken. I only visited one other Popeyes location; I find their meals to be very similar to the taste of KFC - though I might be ignorant of the subtle differences between Kentucky and Louisiana fried chicken. Recommended.

Last January I had the pleasure of trying Popeye's in NOLA during a visit. It was pretty good, and my favorite thing was the beans and rice for sure. When I saw that Wilkes-Barre recently got its own joint, I wanted to give it another go. The good: They did a great job on interior of this place. It's pretty classy for a fast food joint! Service was prompt and friendly, even with a long line. The biscuits are seriously AMAZING. You bite into one of these mommas and you'll want to run into KFC, grab one of their hockey-puck "biscuits" and break a window with it in anger knowing that you've never truly experienced the joy of a really amazing baked good. Seriously, though, this biscuit was warm, salty, buttery, and SOFT. MMM. The bad: So, I like spicy, and their spicy chicken isn't spicy at all. Second, the flavor of fried chicken you get at KFC or the like just beats the overall flavor of this chicken. The breading is really crispy, which is great, but I just found it pretty bland. The mac & cheese made my mouth sad. It has a weird plastic taste to it. I would definitely stick with rice and beans, which taste like smoke-house heaven. All in all, an a-okay place.

This place is a nice change of flavor for the area. The breading has a unique but awesome flavor. I fell in love with the red stick chicken, which has just the perfect level of spiciness. Their biscuits are the best that I ever had anywhere. I love how most of their sides are also cajun cuisine. Their mardi gras mustard sauce is my new favorite accompaniment - the secret ingredient is horseradish. The service is always exceptional. The employees are all extremely friendly and seem to genuinely care. The food is also made very quickly but still retains great quality.

Very good, counter workers try to help customers get the best value for their money. The chicken was hot, fresh and delish!! Way tastier than boring old KFC!! The dirty rice was also spot on.

This was my first visit ever to a popeyes. I didn't really care for the food at all. I had the three chicken tenders and a side of mashed potatoes. I like my chicken really crispy and this was not crispy at all. I just didn't like the taste of the mashed potatoes. Place was very clean. Food came out pretty fast and was warm. I'd eat it again if i really had to but i really prefer KFC over popeyes.

I don't usually give fast food restaurants four or five stars but I give this one a four. The food seems fresh and even when it's extremely busy they seem to take care of everyone quite quickly. I will definitely go again but not too often because fast food is unhealthy.

My fat roommate who wears the robe and I decided to give Popeyes a try last week. I had, had experiences with the Popeye brand before - once in Washington D.C. in a food court, which obviously does not offer the decor or atmosphere that most Popeyes locations have to offer. (Although, don't get me wrong I do love a good food court, I would often make my cultured food-snob girlfriend dine in the Wyoming Valley Mall food court on Tuesdays, it brought back all sorts of memories of my childhood, when the mall mattered - and the hat store was called Hat World, which let's be honest is the best name for a place selling hats) The other time was the Popeyes location on Broad Street in Philadelphia, I went after my friend Steve Ide (you may know him from his role as bassist in local band, or as the tall guy in the movie theater that you can't see over, don't worry it embarrasses him) Steve lived with me in Philly for about two months before he sadly bought a Michelob Variety Pack from a down-town distributor and decided he had to move out to the tunes of Mike and The Mechanic's Silent Running. So maybe you shouldn't agree to go where ever he wants to go, because of course that Popeyes experience gave me diarrhea. This latest Popeye's experience however was diarrhea free, and also free from the trappings of a D.C. Food Court where family members pestered each other over what monument was the best (It's the Lincoln Memorial, idiots. Followed closely by the F.D.R memorial, only because F.D.R's beloved dog Fala is included) The Valley is known for it's chain restaurants and fast food enthusiast, something I think the people at Popeyes had to be astutely aware of, when they opened this location. Basking in the glory of the new decor, and freshly made chicken, I was sure that the management was overseeing a flawless transition into the Wilkes-Barre market. I will say that the parking lot was not paved, and it seemed as though they had no intentions of doing so. I felt embarrassed to be parked there, like I was dining in a restaurant in West Virginia. My fat roommate who wears the robe loved the chicken, and even had enough to box up and bring home. He is a notorious sleep-eater. Sleep-eating is when you are asleep but still capable of reaching toward the table, and grabbing something off it and consuming it, while never removing yourself from R.E.M. sleep. So boxing is usually not an option for him. Good portions, less to no diarrhea compared to your usual Popeyes location, but horrid, god awful parking lot. This is not Louisiana's Best, but it is the best Louisiana style restaurant this close to Sherman Hills.

While I'm forever loyal to KFC and original recipe jams, there is still a bit of room on my palette for Popeyes. Popeyes is spiced a bit differently than KFC but it's nothing too cray-cray. The Popeyes batter has a softer texture than KFC; it's more flaky than crunchy. And while they blather on about Louisiana-this and Louisiana-that, it's not even as spicy as run-of-the-mill chicken wings. The sides are acceptable but (as mentioned in Angie G's review) the beans and rice are pretty awesome. And dollar for dollar, Popeyes is almost exactly the same value as KFC.
