Newly opened the end of 2013, this is a nice little place a block away from Public Square, in Wilkes Barre. I went today to try the lunch buffet. The place was empty, probably because $11 for lunch in downtown is pretty steep. If this restaurant would lower their lunch buffet price to about $6-8, they would be jammed with customers. The buffet consisted with 8 covered buffet servers over sterno heaters. There was a half dozen dressings to go with the garden salad and naan bread. There was a "Rose Milkshake" offered from a drink fountain. The hot dishes were several kinds of chicken in sauce, I couldn't tell you the names now. There was a bean & lentil dish, a potato & string bean dish, a mixed grilled veggie dish, flavored rice. The food was excellent. The host & servers were cordial. I felt very much like I had been invited into their home to enjoy their best cooking. I will go again, I would like to try their dinner plates. I'd go much more often if their prices were a little lower :) But then, to find such a rare treat as Indian cuisine, and high quality, in Wilkes Barre, is perhaps worth the extra cost. I hope they do well, thrive and prosper, and stay for a very long time. Wilkes Barre is sorely lacking in diversity, particularly cuisine! Best regards. Namaste.

Fabulous eats, nice people - had a great experience. This place is a yet-to-be discovered treasure in heart of PA. The several Chicken choices like Tikka Masala can compete with the best even in NY. The buffets are a great value for money and i would recommend the finger-licking Chicken Kadai. Gets my Vote for Best Indian Food in PA.

Where to begin! I am a big fan of Indian food, as is my boyfriend. We were both SO excited that this place was opening so close to home. Normally, we travel to Amber in Moosic for our fix, which can be a far trip. We were looking forward to this place becoming one of our new favorites. Unfortunately, I doubt we will be back. On of my friends (another food-obsessed person like myself) had warned me that though the food was good, the service was pretty poor. I figured it would be like any new restaurant: some slow service while they work out the kinks, but generally a pleasant experience. I was very wrong. When we walked in, there were probably about four other tables besides us (read: not very busy). First, we were pointed to a table with no silverware, napkins or plates and were not given menus for about 5 minutes after sitting down. When we were finally given the menus, we ordered our drinks (a pepsi and a chai). We were asked if we were ready about a minute later and we ordered an appetizer and asked for one more minute to decide on entrees. At that point, the waiter ignored us. It took about 20 minutes for us to get our drinks, and he dropped them off without asking us if we wanted to order our meals. My boyfriend and I are both polite, so we didn't call him over. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. The problem was, he wasn't in the weeds. He wasn't very busy at all - it was like our presence didn't matter to him. Finally, after a long wait, he brought over our appetizer, and my boyfriend said, "We are ready to order" and the waiter basically brushed us off and said he'd be back. At this point, we had been waiting about 40 minutes to order food. We were starving. He came back a few minutes later. I order - but they are out of the entree I ask for... so I quickly pick another one, not wanting to ask him to come back while I choose again. After our order is taken, one of the owners, I presume, came to our table to tell my boyfriend that they were out of chickpeas, and so he couldn't have what he originally ordered. He quickly chose another vegetarian dish. The owner was very polite. They were also out of samosas, by the way. We waited and waited and waited. Our drinks were gone. No one came to our table to ask if we needed refills. We still had no napkins or silverware. After waiting for another 45 minutes (about an hour and a half so far), my boyfriend said he wanted to just leave what we owed and get out of the place. I didn't want to - I wanted to give them a chance, but at this point we were both fuming at the poor service and lack of attention we were getting. The restaurant, as I said, was not at capacity... and the server was nonchalantly walking around. At this point, a woman came in for a takeout order and our waiter and her seemed to have an argument. She looked really upset, but the owner (who i have to say seemed very reasonable and attentive - she just hired a terrible waiter) seemed to soothe her and told her not to worry. The restaurant was close to closing by the time we got our food. We still did not have silverware, napkins, or plates to put our food on, but the buswoman (very nice) offered to get us these things. The waiter finally came to us after she did and asked if we needed drinks and brought us plates and I asked him for silverware. The food was just okay. It was not worth 14 dollars an entree, and it was most certainly not worth the wait and the horrendously unprofessional service. My boyfriend then found chicken in his vegetarian entree, and he laughed because we couldn't believe how much more wrong this dinner could go. Thankfully, he eats meat ... but if he was a vegetarian... well... bad news. I have since expressed myself to my foodie friends about my disappointment in our dinner there and all of my friends that have been there have said that their own experiences were the same. Everyone is basically saying - don't waste your time, go to Amber in Moosic instead. In my heart of hearts, though, I am a sucker for local restaurants and I want this place to succeed - but in order for that to happen, they need to hire a waiter (or two) with actual service experience. I would also suggest that the tables be bussed and plated with silverware and napkins upon being set. If your food is good, no one is going to care what it tastes like if they are upset and starving by the time it is served. Good food is not enough to make a great dining experience.

Just ate there with my wife for the Saturday buffet. Absolutely excellent. Extremely fresh and delicious. Very friendly staff. I will definitely come back! You may pay an extra dollar but you have to realize that everything is freshly made.

So far I've only had the buffet. I visit whenever the Gods of Korma call my name. Always a good selection of vegetarian choices. The complementary naan is a treasured relic. A tranquil peace follows me for hours after I leave. Probably that cardamom bomb! Sprained my wrist on my way in the door one day and the owner kindly got me and ice wrap for it. This help greatly and I'll never forget her kindness. - Killer Samosa - Great Price - You choose the HEAT

First let me say that I really enjoyed the food... I like anything with curry on it... But...... The service is awkwardly slowwwwww! Took forever just get someone to wait on us for drinks, the took forever to get water refills, and our food took a really really long time. Literally a table sat down after us, ate and paid before we got out food.... Unreal! If they can get better service, it would be a great spot!

Solid Indian food buffet. The staff kept my water glass filled, but brought out the pita halfway through my meal. I also didn't catch a fresh batch of tandoori on the buffet line, so I will have to return again to see if they have fresh moist chicken during lunch hour. The music was good, as well as the food selection. I would return for another gut busting, heartburn inducing, small bite to eat.

Let me start off my review by saying that the only 2 times I have ever had Indian food, it has been here, so I have absolutely nothing to compare my experience to. Admittedly, my first time there the service was a little off, but it was greatly improved the second time I went which is partially why I feel comfortable giving them 5 stars. Both times I have been there for dinner, as I haven't had the chance to try the lunch buffet, sadly. My first time there, I had the vegetarian appetizer sampler, chicken vindaloo and paneer tikka masala. Second time I had samosas, tandoori chicken and butter chicken. My favorite items so far are the butter chicken and some little curry potato patties that I forget the name of that were on the veggie app sampler. I honestly can't believe I haven't tried Indian food until a few months ago. The people there are also very nice. My second time there they kept asking me how it was to make sure they were doing a good job, and also thought enough to ask me if it was too spicy or not ( I ordered medium) which would be great for someone who doesn't like too much spice (Not me-give me all of the spices ever). And they gave me free rice pudding for dessert! Really nice people, amazing food and I can't wait to go back! I am already planning what I will order next.

Read the other reviews re:service: I cannot speak to that. Food: blew my mind! I had the lunch buffet and it was amazing! everything was so fresh and the flavors were subtle and balanced. Better than the lunch buffet at Amber in Moosic. Friendly staff. No wait. under $10. BYOB. Highly recommended for lunch! I will be back.

They have to work out some kinks in the service but the food tastes good and the portions are generous if you order from the menu. The buffet has a nice variety. I'm not well-versed in Indian food but my lunchmate is and she enjoyed everything on the buffet. I had the mild chicken curry because I don't like my food too spicy but next time I'd go for the medium because there was no heat to the mild. Because there will be a next time, for sure. The waitstaff and owners are very sweet and friendly. They are discussing extending their schedule to open on Sundays. For parking, there is metered parking along Main, or you can use the pay lot off Northampton street across from the YMCA. (I think it's a bit unfair for Yelp to have filtered out 34 largely positive reviews. The restaurant only recently opened, which might explain why there was such an influx of positive reviews at one time.) Also, the title of the listing should be corrected to "Lett's Eat." (two "t"s)

Glad I gave this place a third try. My wife and I tried this place the first week and first month it opened and there were service issues. They ran out of some entree's and the service was poor. But we were in the area and the third time was the charm. They have worked out all the former issues. Great food and excellent service. Fast and knowledgable servers I have had Indian cuisine all over the country and this some of the best I had had. Plus free henna tattoos. If you are new to Indian food try the buffet.

Came with a few friends. We brought a bottle of wine. They uncorked it for us. I've been here several times. They always serve every table chips and two sauces; the green tastes like chimichurri and the reddish-brown sauce has its own flavor. Can't quite place it. I asked for additional chips and sauce after we devoured it. Never brought back more. Ordered chicken vindaloo. Has a curry base. You can order it mild, medium, or hot. Indian definitely has its own flavor, which is a good thing. This dish was excellent. The server must have been new. She brought a pitcher of water before we ordered. It was gone as was our glasses of water even before we ordered. The server never came back to refill the pitcher or glasses. Not good. We did ask for separate checks. Wasn't an issue.

Having read the other complaints of this restaurant, I decided to try it out anyway, because I love indian food and it's the only place in wilkes barre that you can get it. Have only been there once - sat down for lunch, ordered a water with lemon, then went straight to the buffet. Came back to a water, WITHOUT lemon. This always irks me, and I find it to be an indicator of the upcoming dining experience. Anyway, I got my food and say down, and I was pretty satisfied with everything. Not blown away, but it sufficed. Except the garlic naan - which just didn't have the same flavor that I've come to know and love. Service was not as bad as I was led to believe, but then again, this was just the buffet, all they had to do was take away our plates. The place got about half full of customers while I was there. It seems like some of them were regulars. Would I come back? Sure. The buffet was a good value for the quality of food and the flavor, in my opinion. It sure beats a chinese buffet. And I'd really love to see this place prosper. Wilkes Barre needs more culture. Here's hoping that the previous complaints get sorted as this place matures.

I have eaten and dined at other Indian restaurants before, and they were excellent in flavor and cleanliness, all over the country from san francisco to penn state. This however was not at all. The service was horrible. We were the only table in the entire restaurant and it took the waiter 15minutes to get the mango lassi, which was in a disgusting diner cup. Than it took 40min to get our appetizer after another table walked in and got their food. Than I found a bone in my appetizer and the owner/manager told me there was nothing they could do about it because that's how the chicken comes. In addition we had to wait another 35min for our meals to come out and another table got their food before us. (There was only two other tables in the restaurant). The one dish was completely wrong and had a hard rock like herb in the dinner and my brother bit down on it. than the manager preceded to argue with me saying that they cook that way and that it wouldn't kill him. And after all that, they didn't comp anything for us. Management is rude and condescending and the wait staff has no knowledge about anything. Also take a look at the corners of the ceilings and floors, they are filthy with cobwebs and dirt all over, and they are so lazy they couldn't even fill the salt and pepper shakers. I would never recommend going back!!

Remodeled and super clean. Lunch buffet was yummy and plenty of attentive friendly staff. Things have really turned the corner here. Nice place to go downtown.

I'm admittedly not much of a poster, but I rely on Yelp a great deal when scouting out new restaurants. Reviews for this fresh Indian spot off the square in Wilkes-Barre suggested decent food and lousy service. I had no idea how extremely accurate that would prove to be. Took 10 minutes to get menus. Had to borrow a corkscrew from another diner. Took way too much effort to get place settings. Breads came out halfway through the meal. I didn't really have any complaints about the flavors (veggie appetizer assortment, palak paneer, chicken tikka masala), although I'll note that the portions were kind of skimpy. THE worst part of all, the part that made this probably the worst dining experience of my life, was finding a gum wrapper embedded in my samosa and being accused of placing it there myself upon bringing it to the owner's attention. "It would have absorbed more grease than this," she said. My two friends and I were VERY kind and understanding up to this point. We were in no rush. We wanted to like this place. We understood that a new restaurant can take some time to maximize efficiency and minimize kitchen errors. But when treated like a child, when rudely suspected of fraudulently sabotaging my own food for some unclear gain, I lost my cool. They eventually tried to make nice, but it was way too little, way too late. I don't like slandering people trying to make a living, but ultimately it's my duty as a diner to share this story.

After much anticipation, a couple of friends and I dined there for lunch on their opening day. We all had the buffet. The place was crowded, and service was decent. Food on the buffet looked diverse and appetizing. Taste was a little bland, though. We also felt that the $10 pricetag seemed a couple of dollars too steep for a lunch buffet in Wilkes-Barre. We will likely return; occasionally - rather than frequently.

for buffet food, it is pretty good, but since i am a native new yorker who now resides in northeastern new jersey, i have tasted better. the staff is super friendly, though. i don't see how anyone could complain a lot about the place, because there in an absolutely perfect location, indeed!

I just had dinner there tonight. Service was very good. Server was very knowledgable of the menu. Food was tasty and served on time. Left full and happy. My first time, but I'll certainly be back. Dinner for 2 with tip ~ $50. Not cheap, but not outrageous.

I love this place. Sure, I have only been to a few other Indian restaurants besides this one and recognize that the service leaves something to be desired (it's gotten much better since it first opened), but the food here is delicious and reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. I love the regular naan, chana masala, malai kofta, and the chili chicken. It's my new favorite place to eat.

My family and I love Indian food and we were excited to try this new downtown eatery. We were not disappointed. We went for the lunch buffet before catching a movie next door. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. Most of our favorites were on the menu. My kids especially enjoyed the "sweet balls" for desert. The decor was nothing fancy but service was excellent. Defiantly give Let's Eat a try.

Where to begin... Horrible service, probably the worst I've ever had. Freezing space, every time the door opened it was like an ice box. And finally, the Indian food was by far the worst I've ever had. I've had Indian food in NY, Philly, Scranton, Pittsburgh, and about a dozen other places and this is by far the worst. It was so bad that we didn't even leave a tip, a first for me. Very embarrassed as we met friends there to try it out as we loved the idea of having an Indian restaurant in WB. You could just see the pain on peoples faces as EVERY table was scanning the room for the "waiter" who was also the bus boy. If you're familiar with cooking Indian food at home and knowing what it tastes like when you use the premixed spice packets, this is actually blander than that. The rice was basic, no flavor, just plain bland basmati rice. For some reason the garlic naan was twice the price of the regular and tasted the same. 4 of us and the bill came to $78, we will not be back. Go to Amber Indian in Moosic and you'll see the major difference in quality and service. Sorry I wasted the money and the time here.

Well I have to start by saying 2 stars seems harsh to me... but indeed, "Meh... I have experienced better." I am a fan of Indian food and enjoy going to Amber, another Indian restaurant in Moosic, so was very happy when I heard an Indian restaurant was coming to downtown Wilkes-Barre which would be much closer to me. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to try the Letts Eat until recently. Right off the bat, the girl who sat us seemed like she was half dead, or maybe more. I wasn't sure I didn't have a stethoscope with me. Our server was the other extreme, he was at our table constantly, at an annoying level. For some reason he gave me the creeps along with my girlfriend, so it wasn't just me. The food was very good and everything I would expect. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good too. However the service needs some revamping- major revamping.

I'm surprised to see so many bad reviews of this place. The last time I was there was yesterday (Valentine's Day 2014) and it was packed. I vowed to write a review after several consecutive positive experiences. First, I will say that after living in Philadelphia for the past 6 years, I have had good Indian food. Actually, I have had GREAT Indian food. The food here is decent. Is it the best I've ever had? No. Does it successfully and pleasurably satisfy my insane hunger for Indian food? Absolutely. And I'm so glad that I don't have to drive to Scranton anymore. With that being said, I have never had a problem with the staff. Occasionally, I have waited an extra few minutes for my water to be filled or to receive the 'on the house' crackers, but it was no biggie. The food is always as described and delicious all the same. I've noticed that the food has gotten better since they opened, which is to be expected I suppose. But it leads me to believe that they will only get better at their craft. I'm thrilled that Letts Eat is in W-B, and I hope that they continue to do well.

Don't let the old reviews dissuade you from trying this gem of an Indian restaurant. I've been here at least half a dozen times since the Spring. Letts Eat opened early last year and there has been a vast improvement since then. Most of the negative reviews were written during their first 6 months of operation. The food here is excellent and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Check them out! You won't be disappointed! What an amazing establishment for Wilkes-Barre (or any city for that matter).

  • Christopher C.

I'd say the food is mediocre. Since its the only Indian restaurant in the area (that I know of) it will get the job done if you're craving it. The service was ok, waitresses were nice but there could be improvement in menu knowledge. I don't quite understand the point to the tv though. A bit counterproductive if you're going for any type if nice dining experience. In the end I say B-

This was my first time being here and I underestimated the serving size and accidently ordered more than I could eat. But here's the silver lining. I absolutely loved everything that me and my dad ordered. The staff was friendly and I thought the waitress was amazing. The chefs are really talented and I'd definetly return for more. The restaurant is so neat and clean which shows that the staff takes time in keeping that place sanitary and the atmosphere is just welcoming. I would definetly recommend this to anyone visiting that area.

I was under the impression that all the food here tasted and smelled like my grandmother's perfume. A more cultured person may point out that, that it was probably just Tarragon. At the time when I visited Letts Eat, I was not impressed with things like tarragon or anything that didn't taste good to me. I've since been told to eat a lot of things that I don't think taste good, because if I don't eat them, then I'm ignorant and not trying new things. I was in a bit of a Crankshaft period - (As in Crankshaft the miserable bus driver from the funny pages -- don't worry, I usually skip over him too.) I wasn't impressed by the decor or the buffet style (as you'll note I and the rest of world are pretty weary of buffets) I received a glass of water in a very small cup, and the cup was one of those brown ones with the little dots on the bottom that makes you think that no matter how much you clean it, it's probably still a little dirty. The service was nice enough, but I still didn't feel like I really had a grasp of what I was doing, if I should be up there just scooping things on to my plate, or how to order a drink -- I eventually managed to get a can of soda, but it was too late by then -- I had drank my companion's water along with mine, and I fell into some hot sweats. When we finally left, my back was hurting, I think from the over all anxiety I faced throughout the dining experience (was everyone really just staring at me). I tried to explain how I thought the food tasted bad, and I was sure that's how it was supposed to taste and maybe I just wasn't accustomed to those flavors. The person I was with explained that yes, that was the case and the food had actually been very good and if I hadn't been there, her dining experience may have been nice as well. To which my thoughts were: You've never seen Rocky and you just act like you don't like it. People have different taste, and this may suit your taste - but I had to cook a minute steak when I got home because I was starving.

My best friend and I absolutely love Indian food, we try to eat something new each time. We shared two appetizers, the vegetable samosas and paneer pakoda. The samosas were delicious, crunchy and well seasoned. The paneer pakoda impressed both of us! I highly recommend it. For our main courses I got medium chicken vindaloo and she got mild chicken korma accompanied with naan. The vindaloo was very good and had a nice slice. The korma was saucy and homey. That naan was some of the best naan I have ever had. Delightfully charred, crunchy, and supple. Overall, I highly recommend Letts Eat!

Everything here is very fresh tasting and cooked very well. The service takes good care of you while not over staying their welcome in visits to your table. The ambience is very casual with a bit of class. I ordered the murgh pagoda for an appetizer, and the chicken tikka marsala. My date ordered tikka marsala as well. They let you recommend a heat level for your dishes here and are very good at making sure the spice levels are correct. Compared to most places in the area the prices might seem high but they're actually quite fair when looking at the food quality, portions, and service. I have not enjoyed another restaurant in this area as much as I've enjoyed Letts Eat. After many visits since the first I've described I can also tell you the food has been consistant in meeting my expectations every time. P.S.- Great naan bread

I've eaten here numerous times, and I always order something different. My absolute favorite is Malai Kofta, but who doesn't love Tikka Masala? I almost always order takeout, and I love the vegetarian options. What I don't love are the prices here. If you really want Indian, sadly, this is your only option in Wilkes-Barre, unless you want to stop by Wegman's for ingredients and get to cooking it yourself. I know the ingredients are expensive. I know that food preparation done well warrants a hefty price tag too. However, having eaten Indian everywhere from Brazil to London and all over the USA, I can honestly say this isn't that great for Indian cuisine. It's good, but I've definitely had better, and I try to redirect my taste buds/cravings to Pete's place when I'm craving spice and authentically exotic food.

Tasty spot! Definitely recommend when in WB. The staff is very service oriented and the food is very good. Beware the directions link from Yelp is incorrect sending you to N. Main when the place is S. Main & E. Northhampton. Also, for you Indian food newbies, the staff here is very happy to explain and recommend dishes. They spend the time because they smartly know if you feel welcome and like what you get, you will be back. There is a lunch buffet til 3p and and early bird special M-Thurs for seniors that is a lot of food and great value. Enjoy!

Visited this place with a group of friends for the first time on a Friday night. Food was awesome! Fast and friendly service, too. Mango Lassi was a hit at our table, Delish! For entertainment they had a local belly dancer; she was very good dancer. I ordered my Chicken Korma extra spicy (which was perfectly spiced) which was served along with Basmati Rice. They do provide a flatbread crackers for the table with two different dipping sauces. These were great! I heard they have free henna on the third Friday of the month. I will def have to be back for that!!! Would love to come back for the lunch buffet to try everything!

I love indian food and theirs was wonderful. Anthony waited on us and he was attentive and explained the sauces and different dishes. We had a full meal including dessert and coffee. We enjoyed our meal and were never rushed. It was not until everyone was done and he asked if we would like anything else that he asked if he could prepare the bill. Excellent service and food.
