Decent service, clean restaurant, and nice setting. Below average food and watered down drinks. Would not come back.

The service was slow. I ordered chicken enchiladas and the chicken tasted like canned chicken. It was awful. Go to Matador across the street instead.

I wanted to love this restaurant so much, but it was a huge disappointment. My biggest complaint is that its obvious they don't freshly prepare their food everyday. While I know most restaurants do this, at $20+ per entree for Mexican, you expect food to be freshly prepared. How do I know it wasn't freshly prepared? We ordered appetizers (Guacamole) and two entrees (a Steak dish, and a fish dish). With no exaggeration, our entrees were served to us within 2 minutes of placing our order and BEFORE our guacamole appetizer. We could clearly see them making the guacamole from our table at a preparation area at the back of the dining room. If it takes longer to make guacamole than a steak and Mahi Mahi dish, something is wrong here. Furthermore, both tasted dry and had a touch texture, which is another sign of it being heated up. Both dishes were nothing special either in terms of taste. The only reason I gave two stars is that the guacamole was excellent. Since it came after our entrees, we ate this as dessert. At this price range, we would not return to this restaurant to pay for unfresh food.

I was really excited to try Xilantro unfortunately the restaurant did not meet my expectations. The ambiance is very nice and trendy, however our waiter was extremely pushy and told me what I ordered wasn't the best option. He suggested I get something way more expensive and kept trying to get us to buy more beverages. The guacamole isn't anything special, I prefer Matador's guac. The food was satisfying, but not delicious. I wasn't impressed with this place, will not return.

This is more of a 2.5 star place for me but I will bump it up to a 3 for review purposes. Loves the decor of this new spot in Wayne. Enjoyed a beautiful Fall day having lunch with a friend outside. I thought the service was very friendly but When asked if we wanted chips salsa and guac, we said just chips and salsa and brought out both guac and salsa. Wouldn't have been a big deal but when Guac is $10 and not the best I've had, I was kinda annoyed. Both the chicken and fish tacos were delish. Very simple but the chicken was marinated and cooked perfectly. I'd go back, especially on a nice day to enjoy a drink and a snack- I'm not rushing back though. A few mexican places on my list are slightly better.

Given the 3-star average rating on Yelp, I wasn't expecting much from Xilantro, but I was incredibly surprised by how good it was. Sure, the neon green and glaring white decor is a bit out of place for downtown Wayne (it actually reminds me of some places in Naples, FL), but who cares? The entire waitstaff speaks Spanish, which was a pleasant surprise, and I can't remember what we ordered, but it was delicious. Xilantro is much better than Matador, and even better than Verdad.

There was no one sitting inside since it was a nice day, we decided to sit inside because the sun was a little bright. The hostess tried to sit us next to the registers, we asked to sit nearby. She tried to then sit us next to the bathrooms, and I asked if we could sit at the table I asked for the first time. She said to me, "now what's wrong with this one, as if i was crazy to not want to sit there when i have dozens of other tables to choose from. We sat down, and when we ordered drinks we found out they were out of the first two beers my husband wanted. When it was time to order we were told they were out of our first food requests. We asked the server why, he said they just had a busy weekend (it was Wednesday) and there was a problem with the food delivery. Chalk this one up to a manager who not only hires poor staff but doesn't find a way of creating a better experience in light of a problem with the food order. Isn't that one of the responsibilities of a manager?

You can't beat their $15 all you can eat tacos on Tuesday. The tacos al pastor are insane. I love the pineapple in there, it gives them so much flavor!! Also, the margs are delicious. I've gone there multiple times for their weekend lunch specials and I will return. The prices are higher than you would expect, but as someone who is used to El Vez, this prices don't bother me.

This is a great place to hang out with friends and have drinks. The decor is quite posh and I would compare it to Stephen Starr's Pod. Drinks and fun location aside, I agree with other reviewers about the so-so food and flawed service. Bacon-wrapped shrimp looked WAY overcooked. Toward the end of our meal, our waiter kept taking pieces off the table one by one, 1 water glass, 2nd water glass, etc. We started to feel like excess-baggage. An extra star was given in honor of a wonderful dessert. Try the flan.

I've been here a few times. The guac is great, service fabulous, fun drinks and great good. I highly recommend.

Decor is very chic. Perhaps a little too chic for the concept. The service was excellent. Nachos, Guacamole and Margaritas were all very good. The entrees were good, but not great. Pricey for what you get, but not for the area. I would much rather travel to their other restaurant Los Sarapes, better food, more authentic atmosphere and reasonable prices.

This place is great! A welcome addition to Wayne. The service was stellar. Our waiter was friendly and on top of things. The food was delicious - we shared guacamole and the vegetarian enchilada with green sauce. Both were good. My only complaint is the prices. $10 guacamole . . . now that's too steep. But in an area like Wayne, I guess they can get away with it. This place would have earned five stars if it was more affordable.

Had a dinner with a friend on a Saturday night. We made early reservations and arrived to a nearly deserted restaurant. Grabbed a drink at the bar (she: the skinny margarita, me: a classic mojito) and then moved over to our table. The menu offers 16 appetizers and 13 entrees. The vegetarian selections are quite limited. Only one entree is vegetarian--the enchiladas. As for veggie appetizers, you are limited to salsa, guacamole, or nachos. I enjoyed the guac and veggie enchiladas. I found that my mojito was not quite mixed, as the first sip had a strong taste of rum and the bottom of the drink tasted of seltzer only. It ended up being $80 for 1 app, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts. I'm no cheap-skate, but I was surprised at the cost. The service was attentive, but not pushy. The decor is very modern with bright green colors. I like the decor. I did find that the noise in the restaurant increased significantly as it became more crowded. From what I understand on Xilantro's FB page, they are addressing the acoustic issues. I would return again, but probably in a month or two. They just opened, so I will wait until they work out the acoustic issues and maybe update the menu with more veggie options. The owner stopped by our table (and others) at the end of the meal to check in.

I went to Xilantro for dinner with 4 friends on 7/30/12. I will never go there again. The food was OK, but the service was terrible. It was literally the LEAST accommodating restaurant I have ever been to. Our first problem with our waiter was when we requested some veggies for dipping in addition to the chips served with the guacamole. Our waiter told us that they did not have any. SERIOUSLY?! You are a Mexican restaurant! I was drinking a cocktail that had a cucumber garnish for god sake! I asked the waiter to just bring me a COUPLE cucumbers and you would have thought I asked him for his first born. He eventually obliged but it was just a terrible start to our dining experience. When the bill came we noticed that a 20% gratuity had been added... for a party of 5 people. I myself have been a server in a couple of fine dining establishments, and so have the other members of my dining party. Any server will tell you that typically 18% gratuity is added to parties of SIX or more. Since our server had been so rude to us throughout the entire meal we decided to challenge the added gratuity. He told us that it was printed on the menu that 20% would be added to parties of 5 or more, so we asked to see the menu. He disappeared for a while and then came back and rudely told us that new menus had just been printed and the gratuity information was taken off. We then asked to see his manager. He returned almost immediately and told us that his manager was too busy to talk to us and he presented us with a new bill with the gratuity taken off. It was a TUESDAY night and we were 1 of 3 tables in the place. There was no way the manager was too busy to speak with us. We then asked to split the bill evenly between 4 credit cards and he told us that he could only process 3 cards. COME ON! We were just completely fed up at that point. As I said... the food was ok but it was definitely not worth putting up with the terrible service that we encountered. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere!

We were excited to try this place simply because it was a new addition to the area. As to be expected in Wayne, it was unfortunately overpriced and the amount of food/drink you got did not match the bill at the end. Appetizers were alright, guacamole was fresh but bland, could use some cilantro, no pun intended. Drinks were also a little bland, cocktails lacked in strong flavor and tasted generic. Dinners were all cooked well, definitely a more modern approach to Mexican food so if you are looking for more home cooked or authentic, this may not be your place. Decor and vibe was fairly trendy, lots of white and green, cool fixtures, bustling bar area. I would say it is great for the young professional crowd, not great for kids. We were there around 8 in the evening and not a child in sight. Atmosphere was loud, something about the layout causes sound to echo pretty intensely. Overall, service was fine and food was fine but it just wasn't anything to get excited about. Kind of like they didn't do anything wrong per say but I doubt we will go back more than once or twice in the future.

Great Guacamole, The chips seemed a tad to hard and the appetizers were OK. Mojito was very bland but the Margarita was pretty good. The inside kinda reminded me of a bathroom. Better to go there when the outside is open.

Queso fundido es el mejor. Margaritas son fuertas. Y el Pico de Gallo y guacamole es bueno.

I give it 5 stars for some things and 1 or less for a couple of others. 5 stars: the bright, crisp, lime and white decor. It's the best looking spot in Wayne now. The outdoor couches, tables and umbrellas make this the numero uno restaurant for dining al fresco, when you're lucky enough to snag a seat out there. Love the guac, melted cheese app, duck and enchilladas. The wide choice of drinks makes ordering one fun. Bartenders are very good at making recommendations if you're overwhelmed, which I was. Now the bad, the 1 star: the lack of professionalism on the part of some workers here is astounding. We actually witnessed a waiter cursing out another employee in the middle of the dining room. Diners nearby were made extremely uncomfortable.....not the way to enjoy an expensive meal.

We were very disappointed with Xilantro. We went there with a Living Social deal for a chef's tasting menu. The server mis-explained the menu, the portions were tiny, they erroneously charged us twice @ $11 each for the guacamole and chips (they ask you repeatedly if you'd like guac & chips but don't tell you the price), and they automatically added a 20% tip (for a party of two) and did not tell us. Stay away from this place!

  • S L.

Overpriced for what it is. Barely passable Mexican. The service is slow, the food is mediocre at best. I had the taquitos, and they were so burned I could barely eat them. The atmosphere is nice, but the food will not bring me back.

Arrived at Xilantro with an 6:30 reservation for 5, but was shown to a table for 4 with an extra chair sticking out. When we asked for a larger table to accomodate five adults, the hostess was rude and snarky, refusing to offer us one of the many vacant tables even though we had a reservation for 5 people. Not sure what the hostess's problem was, but she was totally out of line - at one point saying in a mocking tone, "Am I bad?". We put our coats back on and prepared to leave. At that point, the owner/manager rushed over and promptly combined two tables to accommodate our group. He was very nice. After that things got much better. The owner/manager was very helpful, service was excellent, and the food was very good. It's pricey - $11 for guacamole is pretty high and most entrees were in the $20s - but the food is genuine (not Tex-Mex) and the decor is nice. We will probably go back, although that hostess interaction definitely started things off on the wrong foot.

Went to Xilantro with 2 friends for dinner, or drinks and a bunch of appetizers. The staff was very friendly and nice. For a Thursday night, the place was pretty empty but it worked out fine because my friends and I had a nice table and the staff let us just sit and talk and order drinks for a long time. I would say that the wine by the bottle prices seemed standard, lots of options in the $30-40 dollar range. But $11-$14 dollars for a margarita? They were good and we tried a few different kinds, but we just thought that was really steep. We tried about 5 different appetizers and would say the food was good and presented nicely. We had three drinks each and the appetizers and it came to about $53.00 a person, before tip, so about $63.00 total each. Cool ambience, very nice staff, but with the prices - not sure if we would go there for more than a drink at the bar next time.

YIKES. the decor is pretentious and the food is overpriced and not executed properly. I will say this though, the presentation is solid. when your food arrives it looks gorgeous, this might actually detract from the food experience. The presentation leaves much to be desired in terms of flavor. Mexican food has an inherently low food cost, so if i am going to be spending top dollar for mexican it better deliver. this does not. It is a shame, the outdoor seating is lovely. You can tell that the chicken is precooked, likely offsite and reheated to be served it is more apparent with the steak entrees. The steak with chorizo sauce is a 30 dollar plate, with approx a 8 oz cut of filet that is very dry and not what i like my steak to exhibit in terms of texture. the chorizo sauce is on point, this is likely because is is actually prepared to order to juice up the dry steak. walk across the street and go to matador where the drinks and food are better and more reasonably priced. Their chile de arbol salsa is disguisting. i would rather go to chipotle and eat on a public bench than eat at xilantro. The staff were friendly enough, but it doesn't make up for this horrible failure of a concept and ultimately a prime location on the wayne avenue strip. The food is awful, don't punish yourself.

AWFUL! i went there for dinner with a friend last night and the service was awful. They brought out my meal before our margaritas?? Server was clueless and the food was below average. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were $20. WILL NEVER GO BACK.

    (1)
  • Matt R.

Service was ok. Food was very bland. For the price you pay I was expecting a lot more. I will probably not return here. There are far to many better options on north Wayne ave.

Went out for GNO and by 8:30 pm, they were out of Patrone and some different kinds of fruits used in margueritas. Drinks were expensive and the muddled fruit they used wasn't fresh but canned. Highly disappointing! Bumped into a friend on the same night who said the food isn't what it used to be. Don't think any of us will be returning.

I arrived home from a weekend trip to find that Xilantro had now opened and walked directly from the car to the restaurant. Modern white decor with pops of green color makes this place feel like a trendy spot, and we felt perhaps a little under-dressed for the occasion in our road-trip gear. Our food was good. Of the four dishes (we all shared), my favorite was hands-down the filet. My salmon was lovely, the enchiladas with green sauce were very good, but that filet was fantastic. My friends enjoyed their margaritas. I was intrigued by the Horchata drink (Vampire Weekend, anyone?), but they did not have the ingredients yet for this. Joel came around to introduce himself, which was a very nice gesture. As in previous reviews, this is more of a special occasion place for me, though I am glad to add another fun restaurant to the area. I am also looking forward to going back in a few months once it's been opened for more time.

I really wanted to like this place. The wait staff was just lovely and the decor was cool. But the food is just not that great. We had an excellent sea food sop, but everything else was just too sweet. And the empanadas are almost indelible, much too deeply fried. They also need a more detailed list for their tequilas. We ended up with a flight of dessert tequilas for a before dinner drink. The wait staff or bar tender should have warned us, or the menu should have described them. Sadly, won't be returning here.

Went for lunch. place was empty and we were asked if we have a reservation. REALLY? Ordered the 2 for 9.99 lunch special, soup and a burrito. Soup was Luke warm and bland. Burrito was warmer but bland. Service was very good. Decor was better than typical Mexican Hacienda stuff.

Just okay, nothing to call home about. You can get way better Mexican somewhere else but unfortunately, not in the town of Wayne. Try Phoenixville or Norristown.

This is a great trendy restaurant with lots of tasty Mexican food. I've been here a few times now, and the food is always delicious and interesting. My fiance and my sister and I came here for the New Year's Eve party. It was awesome! Lots of music, dinner and drinks special, etc. Lots of fun dancing, and they really got the party started! Great atmosphere!!! The waiter we had was very friendly and helpful.

I did not have a good experience here. Let me first make a recommendation to Garce's Distrito. Xilantro tries to be like Distrito but fails miserably. The quality, freshness, execution, and service just isn't there. *Upon sitting we were asked to order within 10 minutes because the kitchen was about to close. We did not even have the dinner menues yet. I felt rushed and if the restaurant did not want to serve us, the manager, should have informed us before we were sat. *Our waiter was completely clueless from taking orders to filling our empty water glasses and to taking away dishes that we were clearly working on. *I ordered the white sangria and I couldn't drink it because it tasted like simple syrup. I asked the waiter if I could substitute for a glass of wine, not only did I have to witness the dreadful stare from the manager at the bar but I wasn't even comped of the sangria that I barely sipped. *The guacamole and chips tasted stale. *There wasn't enough cheese on the nachos. In fact, it looked and tasted like the nachos were sitting underneath the heat lamp for quite some time. *There is no reason that I should be hearing the tasteless house music across the street via outdoor speakers. I love good food and it takes a lot for me to not tip but this is the worst dining experience I have ever. Distrito, I am sorry i cheated on you.

I'm a little surprised at all the negative reviews. We ate at Xilantro last night, and did not have a bad time at all! Every new restaurant has some growing pains, but the staff here all seem very attentive, and ready to address any concerns. The noise level that some other reviews had mentioned has been addressed with some ceiling modifications. Our table was able to converse at ease. Our food ranged from good, to great. The lamb dish was definitely a favorite, as well as the fillet. Drinks were all very fresh, and delicious. The tequila recommendations were all very good. Xilantro is not for everyone, though. Don't go here if you're looking for a pile of cheese covered "Mexican" food, or if you want to quietly sit over a glass of wine. Xilantro serves flavorful dishes and fresh drinks, in a lively, and fun atmosphere. No, it's not cheap, but we will certainly return in the near future. Take the advice of the bartender, and try a new tequila or fun margarita. You won't be disappointed.

We went there Thursday for lunch with five people. The service was earnest, friendly but very slow. Two of us had the tortilla soup that came with the $9.99 lunch special, which was a very good deal. However, the soup was very very salty and cold (The other soups that our friends had with their luncheon was also lukewarm). After we told the server, he just took them away and never came back with a remedy. We expected the manager to come out to apologize or maybe offered us a dessert. They seem to unwilling to believe that the soup was too salty with the server never apologizing but just saying, "that's how we Mexicans like it". Sadly there was only one other table there and I kind of understood why. I don't think we will come back again.

What a rip off. Tasteless food on "special" menu for cinco de mayo. They jacked their prices up and it was terrible. They charged for chips that weren't even corn . Stay away!

  • Vinyasa G.

Very loud. Waaaay to expensive. two stars only because the guacamole was really good and the Mojito was good. I had the sea bass which was ok. very bland. he handed us complimentary hot sauce that was awful. no depth. They were very busy, service was a little slow. I don't think I will go back. Mainly because for over a hundred dollars, we could have made comparable meals at home. Its not even worth justifying a "nice night out".

My husband and I went to Xilantro in Wayne for the first time this weekend and we cannot wait to go back. The food, service, and atmosphere were all fantastic. We both got a delicious margarita, shared the classic guacamole and rollos, he got the enchiladas and I got the fajitas. All of the food was super fresh and delicious. Our server was knowledgable and very friendly. It was also reasonably priced for a date night. We cannot wait to return!

We went for lunch on a Monday afternoon -it was not very busy but by the lack of service and attention you would have thought the place was packed. They sat us but did not give us menus. We had to walk up to the front desk and get menus on our own! We had to wait about 15 mintues before we finally flagged the waiter down to tell him we were ready to order. After waiting another 20 minutes, our food finally came and the lettuce in both of our salads was completely ROTTEN. We called the waiter over to tell him and later in the meal the manager "magically" appeared with one new salad with fresh lettuce. No one checked on us to see how the food was throughout the entire meal. When we got the check ( that took forever to come to us), they had charged us for both of the rotten salads. Definitely do NOT recommend this place.

My husband and I went to Xilantro for our wedding anniversary on a Tuesday night. The patio was completely packed and parking was a nightmare, but once we were in the restaurant, our table was ready inside in time for our reservation. According to my husband, the mojitos were very good, but a surprising $12 each. We both had soup - the creamy black bean and three corn chowder - and they were very good, but very mildly flavored. For dinner, we had the pollo criollo and the carne asada. Both were very good. The service was quick and friendly. The interior was very modern and surprising for a place on the Main Line. Xilantro definitely tries to be a downtown restaurant with it's decor and pricing. It had solidly good food, but not quite as good as done other Latin American restaurants we have visited. With entrees between $22 and $30, it's a little too pricey for an impromptu dinner and the food was almost good enough for a special occasion. We have a tradition of going out for Latin American food on our anniversary and we will definitely be trying something new next year...

Good food, but overpriced. Get the Guacamole appetizer--it's excellent. For vegetarians I recommend the veggie enchiladas (it's really one of your only options). For vegans, order it without cheese and sour cream.

I wish there was an option on this to give no stars. First of all, we walked in to a not so busy lunch rush and asked to sit at a booth (there were 3 of us), and they told us we couldnt sit there. We ordered the guacamole, the ceviche, chicken tacos and the tuna tartare. The guacamole had no lime or salt, it was so incredibly bland we actually had to get limes from the bar and squeeze them in there. The ceviche was not at all a ceviche-- it had canned tomato juice and then some shrimp and fish that seemed like it had been pre-cooked, it was more like a really bad gazpacho. The tuna tartare was completely coated in mayonnaise and was not really fresh tuna at all. The chicken tacos were, in fact, a chicken quesadilla. In addition, we told the waiter that we were unhappy with the food (which was obvious because we didnt eat anything really), and the manager came over to meet with us. He told me that I was wrong about the guacamole and that we ordered the wrong thing when we ordered the ceviche because that wasnt really a ceviche. He then told us that the tuna tartare is the chef's special recipe and that if we wanted something more like a tuna tartare, we shouldnt have ordered that. He did admit that I was right about the tacos, but then wanted to quibble about whether putting lettuce or something in there would have made it tex mex cuisine. He didnt make any apologies or offer us anything to come back-- he just said he had ordered the wrong thing and if we asked next time he'd tell us what to order. Next time? I think not.

We were very excited to visit a new, cool restaurant around the corner from us in Wayne. Great atmosphere, service was excellent and guac was excellent, but it ended there. All other dishes were bad to subpar. The bill was very high. My advice to you is to have drinks and guac at the bar.

returned again to Xilantro to celebrate Valentine's Day with my husband. The food and service continue to impress us. Our waiter was super friendly, and quick to deliver our apps, food, fill our glasses... Our food was fresh, full of favor, with generous portions given. I ordered the chicken fajitas (again) and my husband ordered a chicken dish (don't remember the name of it, but it was really delicious!) We also ordered skinny margaritas which were wonderful and def. not watered down like some other mexican restaurants tend to do. We will continue to return and recommend this gem!

The staff is friendly and well-trained. The guacamole is great and the other food and drinks are very good. Portions are large, justifying the prices. The ambiance is more sophisticated than usual in Wayne. In general it's a cut above.

  • Jessica C.

I wasn't impressed. It felt like they were trying to be too chic or modern. The food was good but the service was not what I expected, nor were the prices. We choose this restaurant based on yelps listing of price range but the entrees were astronomical for our budget-perhaps we misread previous reviews. Regardless, we ended up just ordering a few appetizers- which I'm sure led to the waitress not being a fan of us.

some good, some not so good. Ok, my pet peeve at lunch is being served powdered ice tea and that's what they serve here. I will never understand why it is so hard for a restaurant to have brewed ice tea, but Theresa's Next Door serves the same drek. Guac was fresh, but really lacked any taste. No salt, which all good Mexican places put in there Guac. It was totally bland, even places like Rosa Mexicana ask if you want your Guac mild, medium or spicy, but no such options here. Fish Taco's were very good. 3 fairly small taco's with fresh white fish that came with lettuce, cheese and salsa. The Duck Taco's were good, but again no taste, very bland. Odd thing was that 2 of them had cheese inside and one didn't. Service was excellent and the outdoor seating area is very nice. I guess between here and Matador I would go back to Matador because the food had more taste than Xilantro. Plenty of parking around, they take all plastic and you can sit outdoors and have drinks (once it cools off). Bill for lunch was $35 with 2 lunches and the Guac., and the bad ice tea. Hope they make it, but the food needs some perking up.

We love this new addition to Wayne! The decor and outdoor seating for the warm weather is just great. Having been there several times, We have enjoyed dinner with a group and also late night bites after the movies. It has been consistently great. Their guacamole is outstanding. The fact that they offer a "skinny" margherita, which is delicious, is another plus. Their waiters are efficient, very helpful and they add a lot of fun to the evening. Everything that was brought to the table looked fantastic and tasted even better. We are thrilled that this restaurant decided to open in Wayne ad will go back again and again.

I went with a group of coworkers on a Wednesday night. Talk about a busy place! Parking was a nightmare as our little caravan of vehicles followed each other through every parking lot, slowly whittling down as parking spots became available. Eventually we just ended driving several streets over to find a spot and walked it. Fortunately, the experience was worth it. We called ahead and had a reservation (something you will want to do! They were busy!) The food seemed hit or miss around the table. Those who had ordered cheaper, plain dishes said that the food was bland and unpleasant. Those of us who decided to splurge and order the nicer dishes were quite pleased. Luckily I had been saving up for this evening and I ordered the Conchinita Pibil and it was fantastic. The meat was savory with just the right amount of heat. I ended up sharing with a friend of mine because he said his fajitas were very bland. The margaritas were decent. They do offer tequila flight, which might be interesting to sample. Unfortunately, our service wasn't optimal. The server's attention was always difficult to get and he refused to split up our ticket by everyone's order (we only had a group of eight), so we ended up having to simply divide the entire amount by the number of people. I'm sure that those who ordered water and small plates felt quite gypped.

We live about 2 blocks away from Xilantro, and after four years since we had a really bad experience we thought we would give it another shot. It's been around for four years now so it must have improved significantly? We eat in Wayne all the time, and the Xilantro location is great. In terms of outdoor seating, its probably the best spot on the street. Most of the restaurants on Wayne ave. are consistently busy for lunch and dinner, while Xilantro is only busy when the weather is really nice because the outdoor seating is great. We stopped in on a beautiful Saturday on Memorial day weekend and the outdoor seating was pretty busy, but inside Xilantro was empty which was surprising for 6:30pm, prime restaurant time. We placed an an order for drinks and guacamole and waited. We actually waited 25 minutes for our drinks, and we only got them because I went into bar and asked for them. The drinks were actually pretty good, and soon after the guacamole arrived. The guacamole has definitely improved since our last experience, but I don't think it's $11 good. We didn't bother ordering entrees because it was clear that this place hasn't changed in four years of being is business, which is why it's consistently empty while other restaurants in town are thriving. My only guess is that the ownership has deep pockets, and doesn't care about having a quality product. It's a shame because the location is excellent and this area desperately needs a good Mexican option.

The food was poor and although the ambience was only fair, I felt really bad when the owner scolded a worker in a very rough manner in front of us. I will not return to that place.

This place is just really not worth the money. Expensive, and subpar food and service. I've tried this place in multiple contexts and have not been happy. Can't give it any more shots. It's a shame, because I had such high hopes when it was set to open.

I haven't been to xilantro in a while and not exactly sure why. We had a large table of women celebrating a birthday so we wanted to drink wine, margaritas and nibble on small plates. All the food we had was very delicious. I especially liked the fish tacos and the octopus ceviche. The guacamole and chips with fresh salsa picante that was good enough to reorder for the table. Our server was very attentive and friendly. He made some good suggestions for the table as well. I'm going to add xilantro into my mix of places to go for dinner in Wayne.

Violeta (from Peru) was our server and was simply delightful. MUY BIEN! The food was delicious. I had the house margarita and the beef fajitas. My wife had the shrimp fajitas. The green hot sauce was so good.

Will have to agree with some of the other posts that the food here was good not great. The corn soup was not very hot but it was tasty. The beef Sandwich was very tasty. The chicken was somewhat dry and could have benefited from some additional sauce. The service was extremely slow in an off hour where only a few other tables were occupied. No water glass refills or checks on how our meal was going.

I've lived in Wayne for about 4 months now and waited for a "special occasion" to have dinner here. This evening I just decided to walk on in. I'm so glad I did. The restaurant was pretty empty and I was very surprised. Three other families were having dinner here besides myself. I was greeted pretty quickly and seated in a quite section. The Eagles game was playing and the host kindly reminded me of the score during my time here. My waiter was this very polite and kind guy, Christian. He offered me help with the menu but I already knew what I wanted. I order them the guacamole. I put was delicious!! Very fresh and a bit chunky, just as I like it. It was served with some very great tasting chips as well. I was super satisfied. I also ordered the chalupa for my entree. I was very happy with that decision as well. Overall I am pleased and will return!

Upscale mexican with a swanky interior and outdoor seating. The prices are higher here for a few reasons: a) its in the main strip of Wayne b) upscale food and c) cool vibe. The margaritas are great and the food is quality, just expect to drop some $$ when you leave. Definitely worth checking out.

Stopped in for a Friday happy hour with some co-workers. There was a $5 menu for sangria, margs and some beer. The margarita was very good and my co-worker seemed to enjoy the sangria. There were also three $5 food options. We got some kind of seafood rollo dish, they were great. I would go back again when I want a margarita as the price was good, but I do not think I would return for dinner. Just peeking at the menu the prices seemed a bit steep and not really worth it. The atmosphere was cool, though, and the bartender was extremely friendly.

Tonight was spent in Tequila heaven. Actually it was spent at Xilantro Restaurant in Wayne where I attended an event - a tequila tasting party of Tres Agaves fine estate-bottled tequilas. Xilantro's accompanying buffet was a perfect flavor partner with some seriously good guac and pico de gallo. Of course it didn't take much for the attentive bartender to convince us to indulge in a flight of very old Don Julio tequilas. And the night just went on from there ...............................

Service was bad. Waiter didn't introduce himself and I am pretty sure he didn't speak English. He was more concerned with the table of 8-10 he had. Food was a 5. I was looking for good Mexican food, this is not the place. Will not return.

Came here by recommendation on Preston & Steve. So glad I did! The atmosphere is very modern and refreshing (with a name like "Xilantro", you'd have to be, right?). I had the Chile Relleno (cheese-filled) w/ rice and refried beans. Although it wasn't "puffed up" and laid rather flat on the plate, the flavor was great and the cheese had a great "chew" to it. I was happy that they didn't opt to just serve plain, bland white rice. The rice was savory and delicious and went great with the refried beans. Oh, and the heat was spot on. Not too spicy, not too weak. It was the perfect lunch. I will be coming back when I can.

What a great find! A great modern restaurant on the Main Line. The service was outstanding and the menu is full of great dishes that aren't the traditional Tex Mex dishes. I had the beef burritos and it was a pleasure eating a burrito that had freshly cooked meat inside. The green sauce was just spicy enough and it was served with a decent portion of rice and beans. The guacamole was outstanding and they have a friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. A bit pricey for Mexican food but it's not a problem since they use top notch fresh ingredients.

It was ok nothing special. In fact I felt it was too americanized. The sauces were sugary and not how real mexican should be. The tableside guac was not fresh. In fact I felt it was made ahead of time and just brought out to us since we were at the bar. I would not go back.

The last time I was at Xilantro it was with a very large group. At that time I thought the food was good, but it was too chaotic to really enjoy the meal. I took my family there last week for dinner. The food was delicious. We ordered two types of ceviche and the seafood flat bread for appetizers. Dinner choices included grouper, shrimp and chicken selections. All were a huge hit with everyone. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We can't wait to go back.

Unfortunately, Xilantro reaffirmed their less-than-stellar reputation. We love Mexican food and have visited many places in the area. We went to Xilantro for happy hour. I ordered a specialty cocktail that had mango puree, cilantro, and some other delicious-sounding ingredients. Unfortunately, and I never thought I'd say this, there was way too much cilantro. The fruit purees didn't taste particularly fresh. All in all, I wasn't a fan. My boyfriend ordered a flight of Don Julio tequila, which he enjoyed. We also decided to order some chips and salsa. The salsa was terrible. It was tasteless and oily and almost like a liquid sauce. We asked for some pico de gallo (chopped tomatoes, red onion, jalapeno, cilantro) since we disliked the salsa. Sadly, the pico wasn't very good either. Yes, the outdoor patio is nice, but the food and drinks at the most basic level fail to deliver.

I love Mexican food and supporting restaurants near by, but this place didn't do it for me. The atmosphere is cool. It definitely feels like you're in the city when you step inside and my margarita was good. But that's all I got. I really love when restaurants have "guacamole stations" so I was excited to try theirs. Unfortunately, the guacamole that I had was really, really bland. Just tasted the avocados. I barely tasted any lime juice, onions, garlic... something to make it more than just mashed up avocados. My husband got chicken with a mole sauce which he really loved. (If my husband was reviewing this place, he would have given it four stars probably.) I ordered enchiladas and originally wanted them with the verde sauce, but they only had red sauce that night, so I went with that. Again, it was really bland. And for $11 for guacamole and $18 for enchiladas, I was kind of disappointed. I might give it another try for drinks and stick to the bar menu, but I probably won't be ordering guacamole and enchiladas here again.

Food was good, not great, especially considering the price. Took a date there last night. We split an entree, had 5 drinks, and had the guacamole appetizer. Check came out to $100. It was more than expected, but everyone there was nice, so I didn't mind terribly. Would go again, but wouldn't go out of my way to get there

Love the food and service is friendly and efficient. The mole is to die for. Love it on enchiladas and chicken. Always have interesting specials with complex and delicious flavor profiles. Drinks are awesome but overpriced.

We had a great experience here tonight. The decor of the restaurant is fun and upbeat, but chic at the same time. It's refreshing to be in a fun/hip place in the middle of conservative Wayne. Anyway, we skipped drinks tonight... but the margaritas and other cocktails around us looked amazing. We started with some guacamole - simple and delicious. My partner had the Pechuga con Mole (Grilled chicken breast, mole sauce, white rice) - it was the best mole sauce I've ever had... I love me some mole... I opted for the Filete Tlaxcala (Center cut filet mignon, chorizo and chorizo sauce, chihuahua cheese, corn tortilla) - steak was cooked perfectly and oh so tender. The chorizo was a nice touch too. Sauce a little spicy, but not overwhelming. Very good. Others have commented on the slow/poor service. We did not experience this. The restaurant wasn't at max capacity but it was pretty busy. Our water was always full and the waitress was there when we needed her. Her name was Margarita and she was extremely friendly. She knew the menu well, and had some fun speaking Spanish with my partner. She even brought him some warm tortillas for his chicken mole, although this wasn't part of the menu. We already have our next reservation in March....and we will most defintely be back for Taco Tuesday (All you can eat tacos for $14.99!) They also have a very budget friendly bar menu which we will probably try since the bar is super cool looking! Edit: A previous review from someone said the bathroom was scuzzy... I don't know if they've changed it since then but the bathroom is actually really nicely decorated and clean. I posted a picture.

Loved the modern look of this restaurant, hence the additional star, however the food was not good. The guacamole was bland, as another person noted, and my shrimp wrapped with bacon was so salty I could barely eat it. My husbands steak was better, but he asked for it spicy, so I think that helped. The dessert was a churro with banana pudding- however it wasn't pudding, it was cannoli filling. To be honest, I didn't even like that! I really wanted to like this place because of the modern cool vibe, but the food just wasn't good. Save your $$, as it is extremely pricey for the food that is presented. I do have to say, the service was very good..they had that going for them.

Thursday - 12/27/2012 - 7:00 PM I've heard good and bad reviews but, never dined at Xilantro. I ordered the Xilantro del Mar Salad (mixed greens, grilled sea-scallops, shrimp, avocados, tomatoes in tamarind-balsamic vinaigrette) I received the scallops and shrimp as promised. The scallops totaled two with the diameter of quarters and about 3/4 inch thickness. The grilled shrimp totaled two and were dry. The shrimp and scallops were placed amid a bed of greens. The salad was good but overpriced at $15.00 for the lack of seafood. I also ordered the Sopa de Tortilla (Corn tortilla strips, tomato broth, chicken, queso fresco). The soup was plentiful and tasty but I was charged $ 9.00 and not the $8.00 listed on menu. The service was slow and the décor pleasing but nothing memorable.

As an ardent devotee of Mexican cuisine, I can be especially forgiving of restaurants that pursue this noble art. This one has earned three stars, but I offer four as I believe any palatable Mexican-style restaurant should be encouraged. Where this establishment performs well is in the creativity of the menu -- rather brief, but well inspired -- and in the studied care of its presentation. I have had several items on the menu thus far and have not been disappointed. The flavors are good and not over seasoned. The guacamole is also quite well done. And the dishes themselves are artfully presented. Prices are a bit higher than one might expect from a Mexican restaurant, but they're not out of line for the area. The decor is intriguing. None of the over-the-top rustic appearance affected by most such establishments. Instead it's a surprisingly open, airy modern design that would be well paired with a moderately chic bistro. Where the restaurant falls short is its service. It isn't rude service, or unacceptably long service. But it is remarkably uneven service. After several meals there I can't recall being served by the same person. Also, portions tend to be smaller than one might expect, although the presentation fills the gap somewhat. This is especially noticeable when the otherwise excellent guacamole is served. Overall I enjoy dining here -- but not as much as I would like to. Perhaps I'm disappointed by the lack of rustic decor, or a diverse menu, or portions that are on the borderline of unhealthy. A pleasant dining experience, but not ine that excites passion.

We moved to Wayne a few months ago and finally got a chance to try Xilantro and overall very, very solid. Having lived in Los Angeles for 4 years, majority of Mexican food out on the east coast are terrible in comparison. Both my wife and my dishes were very tasty and seemed fresh. The salsa was awesome as well. Place is nice inside too, clean and the servers were friendly. Also nice to see Latin people working and or owning a Mexican restaurant. Makes no sense to me when you go into an ethnic restaurant and see white people owning or cooking (and I'm a whity!). Price was very fair as well. I was expecting to be raked because of the place being on the mainline but we had the lunch special, which was $9.99 each. Very reasonable with good size portions. Give it a shot, you will probably like it - I'm already planning on going back.

Maybe I'm biased since I love Mexican food, but this place was great! The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in the city with it's green lighting and decor. They have a guacamole station to make you fresh guacamole custom made and their dishes (at least the one's we ordered) were all delicious! We didn't get a chance to try any drinks so unfortunately I don't have anything to say about that. It's definitely worth going at least once if you enjoy Mexican food and Groupon usually has deals that help you pay!

I waited until my second visit to post this review just to be safe. This is a great Mexican restaurant in the heart of Wayne. The service was prompt and courteous but not fawning. The food was delicious! I had the corn chowder two days in a row because it's the perfect thing to take the chill off- slightly sweet with bits of corn and a lovely creamy texture. I tried both the bean burrito and the vegetarian melimita (?) which is a fluffy tortilla topped with a house sauce, re fried black beans, cheese, and a lovely mix of veggies. Both were great and made even better with Xilantros phenomenal guacamole- I could not get enough of this stuff. If you haven't tried this place, give it a go and don't let the other reviews dissuade you - I only wish I tried it sooner! Oh, and the blood orange and mango crush margaritas are excellent- especially if you like a little kick (the rim is dusted with salt and spice). Enjoy!

I think the food is 3 stars. It's good, not great. The margaritas are top notch and the guacamole is terrific. The service is what made this place 4 stars. Rony was our waiter and he was simply fantastic. Service really is wonderful. Bar staff and front of the house staff were all super friendly and accommodating. I thought my medium filet was overcooked but flavorful (toluca style) nonetheless. Tres leches and the mexican coffee were highlights.

We went there awhile ago on a Saturday for dinner with a party of 6 with no reservations. We were told it would be 30 minutes for our table. They're a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The guacamole is amazing, and don't leave without getting a shot from the tequila bar. The staff is extremely helpful if you can't make a choice. Overall, I would recommend trying it out, even if it's only once!

Totally torn on Xilantro. I have probably never been in a restaurant with food so good but service this bad. I was going to order a regular mojito but the hostess recommended the mango mojito and decided to take her advice. Well, either mojito would have been bad considered the mint was looking black in spots and shriveled and should have been tossed away. This was after I took a couple sips of the worst mojito I have ever had. We ordered the guacamole for an appetizer which was excellent. For dinner we ordered Chile margarita and filete tlaxcala and both were superb. Among the best mexican dishes I have heard in years. I could continue to rave about the quality of the food and you should try it at your earliest convience. But while the kitchen is top notch, the serving staff needs a lot of work. We arrived for dinner at 6:30 p.m. By 7:45, the staff wanted us to leave. The staff was making it very clear they wanted us to leave by 8 p.m. with constant visits every 5-10 minutes offering to box our food which we were still nibbling during our conversation. After we finally agreed to let them box our food, we assumed they would give us peace. The server quickly brought the check and returned within 2 minutes and took the bill but I had to stop him since I had not put the credit card inside. We finally decided to leave at 9 p.m. The restaurant was fairly empty so we could not understand their eagerness for us to leave. If the bar and waitstaff could match the level of the kitchen, this would be a 5 star restaurant. I may return to just get the food to go.

We came here to celebrate an event. We didn't have reservations, and we had a toddler in tote. We pulled up to the super friendly bartender that made us the best margs and before we were done, a table was ready for us! We were the only ones in there with a kid and they were overly accommodating to us! They were able to make her a kid friendly meal off the menu. The fresh guac was amazing! If you are looking for a twist on mexican food then this it. They had a fun menu that is diff than your standard mexican restaurant. If you are looking are basic enchiladas, etc, I would go somewhere else. We loved it and will def return!

Went here last night for a work happy hour and had a great time! The food and drinks were tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced. They even gave the guest of honor a few shots of tequila on the house! The staff was personable, fun and attentive, even dancing with a few choice ladies. Xilantro was fun - nothing to extraordinary or fancy, but that was just what we were looking for!

Good for lunch specials (salad/soup & entree for 9.95), a little pricey for dinner and their drinks are expensive. Food is good though, no complaints there. Good atmosphere. Service is up and down, we either get GREAT service, or slow/absent service. This doesn't keep us from going back though. Bottom line, Xilantro is worth a try and you may love it! The fresh guac is delicious too.

Dined here with some friends from work. Cool spot, upbeat vibe, and the service was very attentive. Seemed like a popular "girls night out" destination the night we were there (a Wednesday). Everyone loved their entrees - our selections ranged from chicken to pork to fish dishes - and the margaritas were solid and strong. The appetizers and salads were found a bit lacking, however - could do with some improvement on that front. Would have liked to have some more sabor in the guacamole, too.

I just had drinks here the other night and really liked the scene. It was a very busy Sat night crowd, but everyone was fashionable and pleasant! I loved the dark wood/lime tile decor and I really liked the staff. There was ample bar space (behind the actual bar so you could rest an appetizer or drink) & I enjoyed that most of the staff were of some Latino descent. Try the coke & tequila drink or their version of a long island iced tea (it's tequila-rific)!

They went way beyond the call of duty on my takeout order. They forgot something on my order which I didn't notice, so they called and asked where to deliver it. They don't do delivery orders. I've been eating here almost since they opened and they continue to do great. Annual Cinco de Mayo nights, occasional live music with mariachi bands, and many other things. The mashed potatoes I liked are no longer available but after discovering their huitlacoche, I order this all the time. Sit near the bar if you want to watch the game. They have two TV's each with a different game on.

I tried to come here one time for my boyfriend's birthday cause I had heard decent reviews from a few friends. I had bought a very small birthday cake earlier in the day for us to have after dinner and brought it with me that night. Sometimes restaurants charge some small fee for bringing in a cake which I was fine with but when we got to the host stand, a man began chastising me very loudly about bringing in someone else's food to someone else's restaurant. Okay, fine, I understand I suppose. He said "we have dessert you can buy here" which was rude but I let it go and my boyfriend left to put the cake back in the car so we could eat there - the man said he wouldn't seat us until the cake was gone. Mind you this is a small two person cake, it's not like a brought in a feast. So as the man goes to seat me after my boyfriend left, he is still going off about how dare I bring food into the restaurant and that was the end, I left. I have no idea how the food is, but I can say that my one experience there will ensure that I never return.

A little expensive, but can be worth it depending what you're ordering. I highly recommend the enchiladas with salsa verse. It's delicious- the beans and rice are a treat and the sauce is especially memorable. They're a good place to go if someone is allergic to gluten. Atmosphere is nice and it's in the heart of Wayne if you want to walk around later. Order the churro if you have room- it's not what you're thinking (Aka a cinnamon covered stick of dough) but closer to a cheesecake.

Short version: Food was bland, not warm enough, overpriced, and bathroom was kinda scuzzy. The decor was lovely though. Will not return. Long version: Made reservations for a special birthday dinner after poking our heads in and admiring the decor months ago. Arrived and was promptly seated by the door (breezy cold air at our feet). There was a 4-person table open in a cozy corner, but it was supposedly reserved for a party of 6. The hosts rearranged the entry door/screen to accommodate try to block the cold air but when only 4 people arrived for the supposed table for 6, they still got it and we were still at our breezy table by the door. Note to staff: If someone makes reservations, don't give them the crappiest table in the restaurant. Drinks. $14 for a magararita? Really? Yes really, if you throw in some pineapple juice, cilantro, and jalapenos. Yikes. It was tasty, though. I excused myself to the bathroom, which although moderna and lovely, definitely needs better attention to cleaning. There's a fancy sink with a slit for a drain that someone needs to go at with a skinny brush, because seeing the slimy crud growing in there totally grossed me out. Rust rings on the sink from the soap dispenser! And dirty caulk on the floor ringing the replaced toilet could be easily cleaned up with a razor blade! Geez! Gross! back to dinner: 3 appetizers (2 tortilla soups; one tuna tartar) arrived but we had to wait 5 minutes before everyone in our party was served (sopa de mariscos was late). My tortilla soup was bland--needed more lime and some fresh cilantro and maybe cotija. Tartar was bland also, like just tuna and mayo, and came with a weird smear of chocolate sauce trying to decorate the plate. Mariscos soup tasted AWFUL to me. Plato Fuerte: Filet with chorizo and cacahuate (peanut) was rated pretty good. Enchiladas del mar was fair. I had grouper with rice, spinach, 2 sticks of asparagus, 2 large shrimp on top, and yellow sauce of some sort which was bland, oversalted. The waiter would make NO substitutions even though I didn't want rice. It was a good portion size. Chicken Mole looked fabulous and tasted good, but was way overpriced. My husband says he gets chicken mole enchiladas for $9 in Conshohocken. So what's for dessert? Tres leches cake, flan, or churros. NO CHOCOLATE? We left and won't be returning. Walked to White Dog Cafe and had the BEST pumpkin bread pudding EVER!

I was pleasantly surprised after reading a lot of bad reviews. It was just my husband and me and we had dinner. Our server was great Erfete. The guacamole was also very good as was the chips! I ordered del ,mar enchiladas and they weren't the best seafood enchys ever, but quite tasty. I would try the chicken next time as I would also like to try their Tacos and lunch menu on another visit. My husband had the Fajitas and though different than normal Fajitas, he quite liked them. I Decor and crowd was pleasant. I'd definitely go back to try other menu items. I did find the menu a couple dollars more for what you get, but...

In town for the weekend and hit up Wayne for a really nice dinner with a friend. The service was really nice but for the price, I can't say I was totally impressed. The guacamole bowls LOOK huge, but looks are deceiving. For the price, you don't get as much as you think. It was fresh - could use a little more flavor. The top shelf margaritas were $14 a piece, but came in glasses that reminded me of my local mexican restaurant (that I pay 5 bucks a margarita for - darn near tasted the same too). They did get my friend's order wrong, but was really quick and nice about fixing it. The table ordered the ahi tuna app and an entree salad. They have really great pico salso - fresh and flavorful. Everything was good, but for the price, I really was hoping for more. $70 for 2 with just a few apps and a salad and 2 drinks - is a bit steep. I wanted to be wowed, but really wasn't. I would go back and give it another try, so that says it wasn't terrible - but I do think they could afford to step up their game just a bit.

Mrs. JJ surprised me with reservations at Xilantro this Saturday. We are big fans of mexi-hip cuisine and this trendy-looking Wayne storefront was right in our wheel house. Like being down town without going down town, just everyone was a little older and nicer dressed. Staff was very professional, but the service had peaks and valleys throughout the evening. We felt like they were pushing us through. The place was very, very design forward, perhaps even overdone, from the textured table tops with coordinating banquettes and menu covers, to the geo-functional plates, to the somewhat annoying knives that would only stand up on their edge, everything is design, design, design. OK, I get it! The music was a bit too loud, but the lighting was good and the furniture comfy. We were definitely in close quarters on the table top, given the size and number of plates and glasses on the table. We got to know more about the people next to us than we would normally discover. The drinks were really very, very good. The Skinny and Special were spot on. I had a couple of decent tequilas. At 12-15 bucks a pop, Xilantro is not a place to go tie one on and your bar bill can easily surpass the food. We had some good salsa and chips, ho-hum empenada, which were actually prepared very well. Mrs J had an awesome filet, topped with chorizo and melted cheese, served on a pool of red chili sauce. This was some good stuff. I would go back to get this dish again. Sides were some top notch refried black beans and rice. I had a beautifully grilled piece of salmon, plated with baby green salad, white and wild rice. Everything was prepared very well. The salmon has a nice chili crust and a smear of brown chili sauce on the plate. One of our new intimate friends at the adjacent table said the flavors were very reminiscent of her native Guadalajara. I believe her! I saw a fragrant barbacoa and some great looking enchiladas cruising by. The fajitas were served in big molcajete in what looked like generous portions. For dessert, we had an order of churros and caramel sauce.Great churro, sauce was tasty but a little thin for dipping, more like a sauce for dunking. All in all, Xilantro was good. i will go back for lunch. I echo the comments suggesting the design concept is out of agreement with the menu. Personally, I would prefer this cuisine and style of preparation in less cutesy package at lower prices, but I am not sure you can get this quality outside of the trendy, high rent dinner destinations like Wayne.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
