Perfect Lancaster restaurant! Overlooking beautiful Amish farmland and rolling hills, the scenery can't be beat. Everyone in my party got something on the Specials menu, which is updated daily. The drinks were great; variety of craft beers, and unique cocktails. A must-visit on your trip to Lancaster! PS, ask for Ian's homemade blondie brownies.

Great place to grab dinner. My wife and I were heading to sight and sounds and needed a place to eat quick and it was perfect! The food is good, service friendly and has a good cozy environment.

A place my husband and I frequently go for good consistent food and service. The smoked salmon BLT salad is always delicious! My husband loves the suicide wings. Service is always good and prices are very reasonable for what you get. Highly recommended!!

First time at fireside grill and was very impressed with the decor and historic architecture. The interior is wonderfully decorated, clean, and welcoming. The bathrooms are spotless! Waiting staff very receptive and attentive. The food was very good and the beer & drinks ice cold. Our meal was reasonably priced and well prepared. I would recommend to anyone in the Lancaster vicinity.

Really great place with a really great, affordable kid friendly menu. All four of our dishes were awesome. The bar/ tavern half was really neat too. ALOT of great beers on tap.

Good food, but great service and atmosphere. I had the chicken and sausage jumbalya and was expecting a little more spice. Cool, historic location.

Fantastic burger and crispy fries. The bl [dy Mary was awesome, too. Decor is classy and cozy.. the waitstaff seems very well trained and polite. Will return.

Food is great at decent prices. Today's experience was subpar in the hospitality department. The server was awful. She was an older lady who had no care for the customer. Not just out table but the table next to us. Drinks were always empty 14$ surf&turf burger came out with no crab cake. She took it back to the kitchen and the medium burger is now well down. Again food is good and will go back but not soon and never with that server

I ordered the baked ravioli (half) and although it was filling, it was mostly sauce and cheese and 4 raviolis. It came with a salad before, which had a copious amount of dressing, which kind of defeats the purpose of eating a salad. But to each their own. Our server was very nice and checked in with us frequently. However, when we walked in, the guy who seated us seemed annoyed and was scowling, which was kind of a downer. It's a cozy place for lunch, especially since there's a fireplace.

Service was blah. I had the (1/2) Cajun catfish entree which was quite tasty, hubby had 1/2 shepherds pie which was ok. Lemonade tasted very watered down. Don't bother with the apple crisp, which the waitress informed us was nuked, she was concerned it was too hot... Um, yes!

I love the Fireside and my husband and I frequent the restaurant. The ambiance is always comfortable and inviting. Their salads are wonderful, the sandwiches are great - the Black Bean a Burger is my favorite. The wait staff is prompt and attentive. I don't think we've ever had bad service. I love their beer list and that it's always changing with new items. Their wine list isn't local offerings which I think is unfortunate with all the fantastic wineries there are in PA but i guess I can't drink beer and wine at the same time anyway and it would be a tough decision if they had Local variety of both! I also tried their Easter buffet. It was wonderful but I never get my money's worth at any buffet because I simply cannot eat that much. It was a fantastic spread though and everything was delicious.

Reliable good food. I enjoy their salads, especially the Southwest Grilled Steak Salad, the Mediterranean Spinach Salad w/ blackened chicken, and the Cobb Salad. The chili is thick and yummy w/some mild spicy jalapeños. The braised beef is delish and we enjoy the shepherd's pie. Good burgers, pulled pork, along with tasty nachos. I order their wings dry so I know I get them crispy but would prefer them predressed but they often are then undercooked for my liking. We like the tavern room for a cozy atmosphere.

Love this place. Go all the time. They have an amazing view of farmland when you sit outside and the food is dynamite. I highly recommend the smoked salmon appetizer and smoked salmon salad. Every now and again, you'll have a server that isn't what I would describe as "high end." But I have never had someone unprofessional as some suggest in these reviews. Also, anytime you have an issue they, without question take care if everything.

Have been here 3 times and have never really enjoyed anything. Had a burger that was just OK. Went for the Easter brunch which was OK. Really can't remember what the meal on third visit was. The staff was always very friendly and attentive. I ordered apple crisp once and they had it in their brunch buffet and it was just canned apples topped with some oats. Uninspired and underwhelmed.

Came here for the first time while staying in the adjoining hotel. Didn't eat anything however giving it 5 stars based upon service, craft beer selection, and atmosphere.

Food was horrible. Tried several times. Loud, overbearing patrons that are regulars are talking too loud and being obnoxious! No we won't go back. We are locals and drive 30 minutes farther for good food and good service. Not to mention rude management! One star just for the fact they're still open.

Came to Lancaster to see Moses at Sight and Sound Theater. Fireside is right down the street. So we decided to try it and were not disappoint. The four of us all enjoyed our meals. Meals were hot, came with a nice salad and the desserts were over the top. But mostly we appreciate our waiter Robert who was very attentive, helpful and a perfect gentleman. We will be back the next time we come out to Sight and Sound this summer.

I thought this restaurant was very nice. The appetizers and the entrees were delicious. I got the crab and Brie appetizer, along with the fried oysters. Everything was great! Great drink selection too!

Took the family here for Thanksgiving dinner. The prime rib was about the best ever. Cope's corn and great dessert. Carrot cake was great. G-daughter was sick. Staff put together a care package for daughter in law that was great. Will go again.

Very pleased with my dinner at Fireside Tavern. Not being from the area, this place seemed like a true oasis. I did not expect such a fine establishment so far off the beaten path, but right on the outskirts of Amishville was a beautiful place. Warm and inviting, with fireplaces, a beautiful bar and an extensive beer list, oh my! First off, the staff was warm, inviting and super friendly. They started the kids off with a kids menu page/coloring sheet and a small bag of cheddar gold fish. Right away my kids were psyched. They have an extensive menu, across a wide range of prices--from soups and salads to sandwiches/burgers, up to impressive mains including meats, ribs, poultry and a few fresh seafood options. Even the kids meal included a side of applesauce which they brought out as an appetizer. This was a great touch, one that I wish more restaurants would employ. All too often a restaurant will bring out the entire kid meal at once. Brought out with the Aps, the kids are happy but the adult main features wild food filled children and very little enjoyment. Brought out late leaves hungry cranky kids that are either left to disturb everyone or stuffed with bread, hence ruining their mains. Who'd have thunk a simple applesauce main could solve that problem? As for our food, a couple of house salads served with a delicious in-house poppyseed dressing made for a nice touch after multiple days of amusement park food. The mains were very good as well. A pork porterhouse that was not overcooked as many a pork main are, served with sautéed onions and apples. Sweet and savory! The crab cakes were surprisingly good. Nice chunks of crab, baked not fried. Light, flavorful and very tasty--accompanied by both fairly standard versions of tarter and cocktail sauces. Our server initially forgot our side of onion rings which was a bit of a bummer. When they came, they were crisp, flavorful, piping hot and on point. No dessert tonight. If ever I return to Dutch Wonderland, this would be my dinner spot of choice, as its an easy 10 minute drive from there.

Great experience overall. Slow service & food was mediocre. There were quite a few things on the menu that tickled my fancy; however, the apricot/cajun salmon spoke to me. Portion sizes are generous, so order accordingly! Salmon was pretty good but not spectacular. I was lucky enough to sit outside and had an amazing view which was so lovely. Their drinks are pretty good & they have a decent selection of beers, if that's your thing. I tried one of their fruity concoctions & wasn't disappointed. Overall experience was great but don't get your hopes up with the food. If you're a food snob like me, you probably won't be blown away.

Great food and service. Been a few times and enjoyed each visit. The filet and cake, scallops, and primerib were a hit at our table. Perhaps the theme could be tuned up though? Somehow the modern French posters seemed a bit off for a town steeped in so much of its own great local history.

LOVED everything about this place! I had the filet & my husband had their crab cakes. The service was great too. We got our 17mon old their homemade gingerbread ice cream for dessert. It was delicious. Highly recommend anyone going to this area to go here for dinner.

I attended the Fireside Tavern's St. supery Wine Dinner Thursday January 23, 2014. I have been to many of their wine and beer dinners in the past and they have all been exceptional. This evening event was no different. An evening of invigorating flavors that Chef Chad Rothfus and team have paired up with one of Napa's finest boutique wineries St. Supery. I will try and hit some of the highlights of the evening. The first course was a pan seared day boat scallop with spaghetti squash and a maple bacon reduction. The texture of the scallop was pin perfect which reassures me this tasty shell fish was prepared at it's freshest peak possible. The course was paired with St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc. This wine offered me honey suckle, buttercup and orange zest on the nose. Medium bodied and crisp, delivering a blast of ripe citrus and a long finish with loud notes of cantaloupe. The sweet and salty flavor of the bacon reduction offered this white wine opportunity to show championship qualities at the dinner table. The second course was a balm poached blue nose bass, English pea risotto, red cabbage chiffonade with an oak creme fraiche. The blue nose bass is a relative new comer to culinary line ups in trend setting establishments. The meat is moist and succulent with a sweet nature similar to grouper. Chef Chad hit this out of the park trust me. The wine paired was an oak free Chardonnay which supplied positive contrast with the oak creme fraiche. This Chardonnay offered lemon and pear on the nose, medium bodied ripe green apple notes and a hint of pineapple. Lastly a snicker of lime on the long finish. The third course a palate cleansing collection of candy stripe baby beets, field greens, local goat cheese and fig balsamic reduction. The wine selected for this course was the St. Supery Virtu. This wine is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillion. With French and Australian ancestors this wine offers some old world characteristics with new world charisma. At first take my pallet was shattered in half by the sweetness of the fig reduction and the lemon tart notes of this wine. The next bite included the the goat cheese, fig and beets with a swallow of the wine. At that moment I realized the goat cheese was the hero in this combination uniting all the features into total bliss. Again great job Chef Chad completely inspiring. The fourth course was the slow smoked Kobe beef strip, sweet potato grafits, carrot purée and bing cherry reduction. The wine introduced with this course was St. Supery Elu. This is an old vine Meritage red that offered smoked clove and dark plum on the nose. Medium bodied with notes of black cherry, earthy in character with smoke and black pepper on the short finish. The Kobe in my opinion was a tad undercooked and packed too much smoke flavor. Paired with this wine I can understand the intentions here however the meat lacked salt. Perhaps first rubbed then cooked achieving a crispy bark and more of an outside sear could have caramalized the outer layer of fat introducing salt into this dish. I wanted to eat the outside layer of fat however the texture was unappealing. All in all I still ate and drank everything except the fat. The fifth course was a dazzling duet of mousses, with milk chocolate and white chocolate. The wine chose was St. Supery Cabernet Sauvignon. I totally enjoyed the mousse and chocolate. I also enjoyed the cab, however my feelings were they never really made friends in my mouth. Perhaps the mousse could have been paired with an ice wine or ruby port. I felt the Cab was the only varietal left in the St. Supery line up so it landed last in the line up just so it wasn't forgotten about. In conclusion the Fireside kitchen team and staff go first class everyday and at every event. These events are extremely educational, adventurous and inspiring at the same time. There is always a remarkable energy in the room whether it is a beer dinner or wine pairing. So be sure and get on their email list and follow them on Facebook to book the next event. Or join them for lunch or dinner for an enchanting experience!

The room was lovely and the service was good. The food was at best mediocre. For these prices the filet should not be tough and a step down from what you would buy at Acme. The potatoes were not hot but the salad was excellent. Okay food, but double the price it should have been.

Very pleasantly surprised with how great this place was. Robert was our server and I cannot give him enough compliments on how awesome he was. He was very attentative and knew the menu very well and helped make reccomendations for us. My Mom's steak he noted was not cooked how she ordered it and he gave her a free dessert! I ordered the Salmon and the combo of spinach, orange and spice was absolutely perfect. Prices were reasonable as well. The ambiance was nice but we sat in the room with the bar and it was slightly loud.

We haven't been here in a few years. It was me my husband my mom, her partner and my 4 year old son and 4 yr old niece with us at lunch. We were excited to eat there but we were sadly disappointed....the service wasn't very good. Our server Jeff was not a very friendly waiter. We arrived around 1:00. We ordered our drinks and and food right away. We ordered two appetizers and a side salad. At 1:45 we got our appetizers and salad. Around 2:20 we were served our meals. The kids were waiting so long for there food they asked when it was coming and Jeff's response was, it's on it's way. Not I'm sorry it's taking so long. Instead of helping the situation of waiting so long to get any food he was just very short and rude to us. Like we were an inconvenience to him. Then the food gets to us. The wings and tavern fries were great. The burgers ordered were overcooked and just didn't taste good. the Cobb salad was good. Cheesesteak egg rolls were not good at all. And the chicken fingers the kids got were fine. Maybe it was an off day but the service didn't help the fact that we had a bad lunch. Probably won't be back after our lunch today.

This is a great cozy place tucked away from all the craziness of the city to eat with unique drinks! Everytime I have been there, I always get great service and food is wonderful! This would be a cute place for a wedding reception. Without a doubt, I will be back!

Whenever I'm in town we usually end up stopping here for dinner. The atmosphere is great and during Christmas it's beautiful! Their food is good and a lot better then going to the usual chain restaurant. I recently had the braised beef and it was good enjoyed their side salad as well. Everything I've tried is good. Nothing is over the top fabulous but you are going to enjoy your meal here. :)

My family and girlfriend have been here twice - once for a celebratory joint birthday dinner, and most recently for Thanksgiving. On both occasions, we were treated incredibly well by our waitstaff - and the food did not disappoint. For Thanksgiving, our server Kyle was very pleasant and accommodating. I know what it is like to have to serve on a holiday, but Kyle (and the rest of the staff) were top notch. The Thanksgiving spread was fantastic. We really enjoyed everything on the buffet (especially the prime rib and dessert table). I also enjoyed a few selections from the respectable beer list. We'll most certainly be back.

Horrible service. See my "tip" below. One star due to hostess, menu and ambience. Otherwise they would have gotten zero stars for the wait staff.

Was pretty pleased with the experience in spite of the power loss that hit the restaurant and area when we dined there. Had the stuffed shrimp which was very good and stuffed with a good portion of crab. They had a good beer variety as well and I enjoyed a good chocolate stout. Look forward to the next visit.

My family and I visit the Fireside Tavern every early January after antiquing in Lancaster and the surrounding area. The place is always full, and after a long day out in the cold the two roaring fireplaces are a welcome respite. The service is always great and the crab cakes are great! They also have a good beer and wine selection.

An argumentative waitress who refused to give us a basket of bread until our order was put in. An hour later we had drinks and water. When ee complained, we were told that the kitchen was serving three dining rooms! As though this made it unacceptable to complain. When a beer was mis-served and the recipient indicated this was not the beer ordered, again an argument was made by the waitress. The food was not bad, except the stuffed flounder, which was tasteless. Oh, and when the bread arrived, it was refrigerator cold.

  • Kurt K.

Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed in my experience here. It's a beautiful place, but the host made us feel like we were bothering him by coming to his restaurant. They sent out frozen pizzas for the kids, which is fine, but they were burnt AND cold. I realize that the kids meals are hardly culinary specialties, but how do you send food out to a customer like that? I will say that my food was good, and our waiter was excellent. Overall, it felt like this place was used to getting by on its reputation.

Oh the memories. It's a wonderful place to eat. Nice cozy atmosphere, pleasant staff and wonderful food! We were here years ago when I was a child and we decided to come back for turkey day. They did not disappoint. The smoked salmon w capers was very tasty, the turkey was so soft and juicy, and the roast beef melted in my mouth. After stuffing myself I squeezed in some creamy smooth chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, sweet pecan pie and layered strawberry cake! Our waitress was very kind an considerate. Thanks again fireside for another wonderful memory! :)

The Fireside Tavern seems to be a consistent place to get a meal, but you will not be overwhelmed by anything. It is located at the Clarion Hotel in Historic Strasburg, PA, which is not loaded with dining selections, so the Fireside is a hotspot. They have a large menu and respectable beer selection for PA (read: a few micros in addition to the usual East Coast subjects). The service is good and friendly, which is nice. The noise level is a bit high, though. I love trying chili, so I tackled a "crock" of chili and a cheeseburger in the same sitting. Whoops! Way too much food. The chili was good and bad: chock full of meat but basically flavorless. It needed more spice at the very least. The burger was a 1/2 pound, juicy patty, that was cooked to a perfect medium. Other than the way-to-big bun, it was pretty good. Fireside is decent and a good place when everyone wants a choice.

Celebrated my 21st anniversary with my lovely wife. I had the stuffed pork chop special, my wife the braised beef. We both enjoyed the heck out of it. The stuffed mushrooms were okay. They did use real crab but they were kinda small caps. I believe only the biggest caps should be used. I mean one was the size of the tip of my thumb. They were tasty though. I recommend the fireside when in Amish country!

Poor service! Rude manager and staff! We went here for a birthday dinner, and arrived an hour late to our reservation because the reservation time they gave and we thought didn't match up. But we still had 2 hours left and from the get-go the waitress rudely tells us we need to be out by 7:30--later 7:15. Not once, or twice, but at least 7 times. Some of the party didn't even get to order (with an hour and so left of our time). To help out we even squeezed in at one table an gave up OUR reserved table because the manager stated she has other people to seat. Very very rude, and manager asked us if we wanted to order desert "TO GO" towards the end. I understand we were late, but the whole 2 hours we were there were filled with hovering manager an staff telling us we new to get out.

We had reservations and came here on New Year's Eve for dinner. This place was recommended for dinner by the Inn we stayed at and by a friend. The food is good and the staff was friendly. I would have given more stars except we were rushed through our meal. It's a busy night, it's a holiday. I understand that. However, we arrived on time for our reservations at 7 pm and were on our way out the door at 7:45 pm. We ordered, ate and had our check by 7:40 pm. This really put us off. It was New Year's Eve and we expected to be able to enjoy our dinner and drinks. We hadn't finished eating yet and they were trying to give us the check.

It was a busy evening but we were seated immediately. Waitress was outstanding! Great selection of beers on tap. My wife had the scallops and I had the Tuscan Chicken. Both dishes were great. Already talking about what we will order next time!

We went to this Tavern on a busy Saturday night and sat near the bar area. The shepherds pie was tasty and my wife enjoyed the salmon as well. The service was decent even though it was busy. Overall, I'd say this is a decent place to go near Strasburg and far better than a chain.

Cold efficient host for a busy Friday night.. Seemed a bit smug and " matter of fact" - Overwhelming menu equals medicrocity - this was fare for the experience appetizers: cheese fries huge portion Smoked salmon : good for hot smoked salmon - portion large but strange presentation Entrees: just mediocre - had special pork ordered medium so over cooked it flaked like fish. Instant mashed potatoes spooned with a portion spoon so it looked like ice cream- really how hard is it to make real mashed.. Dinner rolls- stale Dessert - peanut butter pie very good Server - smelled like smoke and mint... Overall pleasant and attentive Decent place with nice atmosphere but Will not return anytime soon.

We arrived at 8:15 pm & were seated. Being a Sunday, they weren't very busy. We waited until about 8:30 pm and no one came to check on us, take a drink order, or anything. We decided to leave and went somewhere else, letting the receptionist know we were leaving on the way out.

    (1)
  • J B.

The food was acceptable. The service was not. It took over 15 minutes for the server to take our drink order. The place was not busy with only three tables out of ten in our area were occupied. People arriving after us were served before us. Also we were told the outside tables were being shutdown for the evening. People arrived after us and were seated and served at those tables. All in all it took over 35 minutes to get our food and all I had was soup and a salad. Bottom line is I would not go back (that is a test of a restaurant).

This place was recommended to us where we were staying at so we gave it a try. The place was busy for a Monday night. We were greeted by our waiter, who seemed a little overly friendly, but service was good. I ordered a cheesesteak and my Wife ordered the "special" pizza. The waiter asked if I would like fries instead of chips and I said yes. I didn't know by his offer that I would be charged $1.95 extra for the fries on an $8.95 sandwich. The "friendly" waiter should have mentioned there would be an extra charge. As for the steak sandwich, it was shredded beef with onion and tomato sauce on a super hot dog bun. Not what I expected! My wife's pizza was a special and we thought it was $5 under the specials for Monday, but that came out to be $11. Oh and I had the best thing out of the meal, the tomato bisque soup which was good. We had much better food at Cracker Barrel at reasonable rates, which is where we went the second night. Would I return? NO!

This restaurant/tavern is on premises of the Clarion Historic Strasburg Inn. As first time visitors to the area, we didn't know what to expect--but we followed the advice of the front desk hostess at the inn (who recommended reservations) and we had such a wonderful time; I needed to post this review. To begin, The atmosphere and views are lovely: casual, friendly, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. (There was live music perhaps because it was a weekend.) We opted for the smoked salmon, which is smoked in house, and the mussels casino. Both were worth writing about. For entrees, the prime rib special was out of this world. Cajun seasonings my partner (from New Orleans) was RAVING about, and crab/blue cheese topping that complemented the prime rib wonderfully. A few lagers on draught later, and we were happy campers. Desserts of local made ice cream and a house made fruit crisp had us in a pleasurable daze walking back to our room at the inn. If you're staying at the Clarion, there's no need to go elsewhere-- and I dare say it's worth a drive if you want delicious food in a warm, welcoming environment.

My sister in law insisted we go to this place. We had high hopes but they were shortly dashed when I was given instant mashed potatoes! In Lancaster county, a place renown for outstanding produce! That is simply unforgivable. The salad was nothing more than bagged baby spinach from California with a can of mandarin oranges thrown on top. Probably the worst meal I've had in this area.

We always have the Tomato Bisque and Crab cake sandwich. Service is prompt and pleasant. Love the setting. The TV's in every corner aren't our style, but we overlook them because the food is so good. Reasonably priced.

Pretentious, pompous, buffoons. It's Strasburg, Pa for Pete's sake!. We were told the bar table we were sitting at for an hour and spent $60 on drinks was reserved and we had to leave. With no seats any where else at the bar I can only surmise they care nothing for their patrons only turning over tables and money. Will never be back.
