My wife, son and I were intrigued by the concept of an Asian diner. The place is not a diner and only by a great stretch of the imagination Asian. The first and best part of our dining "experience" was ordering. The menu is limited but not bad. We were seated at a table whose surface can only be described as "sticky and slick". We brought this to our waitress's attention who told us that there were two tables that never came clean and to use paper napkins as place mats. My dish arrived in about five minutes after being seated, my son's about ten minutes after mine and my wife's came only after we brought it to the waitress's attention that it never came. (She must be working on her PhD in Philosophy at U Penn in her non-waitressing hours.) Allow me to add parenthetically that the restaurant was at most half full and there were three "cooks" and one waitress. My wife, never much of a complainer, went to the manager and told her that she had never been served. The manager offered to return her money. We accepted. As we were ready to leave, they brought her dish...too little, too late. We left totally unsatisfied and I vowed to share my dining experience with others. If you are curious to try Pei Wei Asian Diner, don't say that you haven't been warned. PS A really nice touch was when the waitress walked out of the restaurant to take a phone call on her cell.

This is a "sister" restaurant to PF Changs, kind of a "faster" food version of it. But the quality of it is just as good if you ask me! We eat here often, and I am always in love with the Caramel Chicken! Not to mention they have one of those fabulous coke machines that can do 50 bazillion flavors of soda, including the elusive Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, that used to be on the market on the East Coast but is no longer! The service is always great, the food is always hot and timely, and I've NEVER had a bad meal here ever, if there is such a thing here :)

I was really disappointed in my meal from Pei Wei tonight (take-out). I have never been to this Pei Wei before - I usually go to the one on City Ave. The food was pretty flavorless (I got pad thai and a spicy tofu dish). They were edible, but that's probably because I was super hungry. They certainly were not anything amazing. Plus I had asked for white rice and they gave me brown. Good to be healthy, but not what I wanted! I hope this was just a fluke and that this Pei Wei's food isn't typically so...meh.

A step down from PF Changs but still good since I love Asian food. I liked that it wasn't a table service restaurant and they have a good variety of Asian dishes.

  • Michael D.

This is my favorite place to eat on a regular basis. I always order the chicken lettuce wraps and the Mongolian beef. Today's trip was odd because my Mongolian beef was overcooked to a jerky consistency. They waiter was great about sending it back and the second round was just right. I never send food back but Pei Wei is so consistent with all their dishes that it's a no brainer when something is off. But all in all, I would consider this trip still a 5 star mikey rating because I have nothing but love for this place.

  • Oliver O.

Went with my lover, had the caramel chicken and said it was "okay" and I had the coconut curry, it was a little overpowering. They have a great extensive soda machine in the restaurant, they are also owned by P.F. Changs. Can't see myself going back but not bad.

This place rules. I like it so much better than PF Changs (they have the same owner). I personally think the food here is just as good if not better. You can get various Asian cuisines here. My personal favorite is the Teriyaki Bowl w/ Beef & White Rice. The quantity is huge - my fiance and I always only get one order of it and split it between us and we're more than full. They are fast and efficient. I also love their online ordering option!

  • Ben D.

I think the other reviewers summed it up pretty well on this one and I would definitely be in the three star range if not for the really cool soda machine, Basically you can mix and match flavors and have something you've never had before. It has a touch screen and you can choose your flavors very intuitively. Whats that? You're in the mood for some grape Coca Cola? They got it. How bought some cherry Sprite? Got it. Vanilla Root beer? You get the idea. If anything, stop in this place sometime when you're in the area and looking for a cheap lunch of good quality (for the price) food, and a cool soda you've never had

Pei Wei is a good place to eat. They're fast and reliable. The prices are decent too. The food is consistent, I have yet to leave disappointed. The servers are polite and willing to assist you. This location gets crowded, but seats open up pretty fast. The wait is never too long. They cater to pretty much every one. Meat eaters, Gluten-free & Vegetarians. You can customize your order as well. I always get the Thai Dynamite.

  • Jennifer M.

I love the iced tea station with the oranges. The food is good for the cost and I like the atmosphere a lot. It is fun for being fast food! I love green curry but they seem to never have enough sauce on it. I will need to ask for extra next time. Pad Thai, yum. I also like how they offer brown rice. Yum.

Lack luster meal; not terrible and not something I'll go out of my way for. Reasonably priced.

  • Patrick H.

Love the set up. you go in, order, and eat. Fried rice, great. Grabbed noodles for dinner, overall a quick bite to eat was faster then some fast food places.(and 10x better) if anything, it was a bit salty. I'll be back P

This was a really disappointing place. They were out of brown rice (...what?) so all of our dishes were with "noodles", which were literally spaghetti noodles. As in, the kind you buy in a rectangular box at the supermarket for $2. The kid's "lo mein" was a bowl of plain spaghetti with chunks of bland chicken. No vegetables, no sauce or flavor, no nothing. We also ordered 2 vegetarian dishes that were labeled "spicy" and they were the exact opposite of spicy: completely flavorless. Both of them were plates of plain spaghetti with some steamed vegetables. We were both extra hungry but didn't bother eating more than a few bites. It was the most pointless meal I've had in a while. Also, the ordering/serving set-up is extremely inefficient. The staff seem overworked and stressed out. There were plenty of empty tables the entire time we were there, but it took about 20 minutes for us to be seated, and another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Definitely don't bother going here- try Margaret Kuo's or Da Shin instead.

Been coming here often since they opened... I live their Dan Dan Noodles, I always get it with side of rice...

I have eaten at Pei Wei countless times, because it is our must have before we grocery shop at the Genuardi's. I love love love their hot and sour, but am always happy with the lettuce wraps (a little salty but I am a salty girl), crab wontons, and I always get the Kung Pao Chicken with brown rice. It's also a great choice for vegetarians, because any of their dishes can be selected with veggies and tofu. I do like that you can help yourself to the fortune cookies, because they are actually REALLY good.

This place is the fast food version of PF Chang's. Because I love PF Chang's, I love Pei Wei! During lunch hours it can get a bit busy because it's in the same shopping plaza as a Panera Bread, so it may be difficult to find parking. The food at Pei Wei is worth a little bit of inconvenience, though. My fiancé and I almost always order the same exact thing: the Mongolian beef. It usually comes a bit heavy on the scallions, so we normally ask for it without. The sauce is delicious and goes fabulously with the white rice that the meal comes with. The mushrooms and beef are never overcooked, and very flavorful. Their takeout portions seem a bit smaller than if you dine in, but I assume that is because they have to fit it in the takeout container! I also like that Pei Wei offers a variety of Jones sodas, since we are big fans of Jones and their flavors.

  • Lisa M.

This place is the laid back younger brother of P.F. Changs. Smaller more limited menu but the food tastes just the same as if you spent more cash at P.F. Really fast service, I walked in and placed my order, walked down to Pier 1 and back in less then 10 minutes and my order was ready. I would definitively go back.

  • Kathryn D.

I love this place and I have now been there three times and can't wait to go back. Honey seared chicken is excellent and i loved the pad thai noodle bowl and the dan dan noodle bowl. It can get a little backed up when theres alot of take out orders, but for the price which is only about $8 a dish for generous portions its worth the wait.

  • Melissa M.

I have been trying to find better Pad Thai than the first one I've ever had (about a year ago from Pei Wei), but theirs is surprisingly the best I've had by a good margin. They allow you to add/remove ingredients, which is good for a somewhat-picky eater like myself. While they don't offer much variety, Pei Wei is an affordable way to eat out. They also do not skimp on the portion size (my pad thai typically offers me 2.5 servings), so big thumbs up for that.

    (4)
  • Meg B.

I love Pei Wei for these reasons: Service is quick- place your order- food is delivered to your table you in 5 min or so. Prices are reasonable- $10 is not bad for Pad thai and a side or edamame or spring rolls- especially when it's quality food and huge quantities I looooove the lettuce wraps- to me, they're as good as the ones at Pod- for a much cheaper price. No MSG used in their food either- bonus the chicken looks and tastes like chicken

I have been to this location about 6 times in total. The place is always nice and clean, but the food is hit or miss. Dont think I will go back, my local chinese take-out has this place beat hands down. Would not recommend unless you are into grocery store style chinese takeout.

    (3)
  • F C.

Solid fast food style version of P.F. Changs. I have never been disappointed here and I always seem to over order. Even when there is a line there always seems to be a seat ready for you once you place your order. The take out side ( a whole other door) is great and all of my orders that I have called in have been ready when I arrive and mistake free. The Dan Dan noodles are the truth but they have recently been ruined for me since getting Han Dynasty's version of Dan Dan. Actually just about every Asian spot has been ruined by the brilliance of Han.

After enjoying this place while living in LA, I'm so glad to find one in the area. It's quick and it's reasonably priced, and not at all greasy. Some of the different sauces taste similar, but they still have decent variety. Awesome hot and sour soup, made with chicken instead of the usual pork, which is great for those who don't eat pork. They don't use msg, a plus if you ask me. They bring the food out to you as soon as it's done, so it's always hot. They're owned by the same company as PF Chang's (which I think is mediocre at best.) So if you're thinking about PF Chang's, save your shekels (We shared a bowl of the hot and sour, which is easily 3 servings, 2 entrees and a drink for $19) and an hour of waiting time, and hit Pei Wei.

Excellent food, always fresh, always tasty. A great, affordable spin-of of P.F. Changs.

  • Pannonica F.

We really enjoyed P. F. Chang's but hated the hassle of waiting forever to get a table, so Pei Wei is perfect for us. It serves some of the same food (I love the lettuce wraps!) but provides quicker service and a pleasant "order-at-the-counter-and seat-yourself-we'll-bring-out-the food" atmosphere. The prices are great too. The style is Asian Fusion, so everyone you're with will find something to enjoy -- Thai, Korean, Mongolian and of course Chinese.

Had gone with my husband a few years ago when it first opened and wasn't floored, went again this week and it was great! It was the friendliest service I have had in DelCo since I moved here 5 years ago! Plus everything we got was actually good! Not take out quality but was ordered and to the table within 5 minutes! Plus, at the takeout price, why get greasy strip mall food? They can also make any of the dishes steamed instead of cooked in oil, in case you are interested. Also, it is not only Chinese, but also Thai and Japanese. The pad thai is way better (and half the price of) Noodi (which has made me sick every time I have eaten it). I will definately be breaking up with my local Chinese take-out and stopping here much more frequently. It boarders on a 5 because of the customer service and speed, but I can't bring myself to 5 a chain take out place!

This is a great place for a quick and fresh food. The knock-off of PF Changs it still has great selections, nice ambiance and reasonable prices. To keep cost down you seat yourself which is a fair trade off.

    (5)
  • Patrick K.

For the price and convenience, you can't beat this place. I have dined here at least 10 times and the wait for food is never more than 5 minutes. Refill your own soda. Though sometimes the food can retain some of that mass produced/processed feel and taste of a chain restaurant, I have yet to have a bad experience. Our first trip was because the Panera two doors down never has any available seating. The next 9+ trips were because the first experience was a value.

We like bringing our toddler here about once a month because the food is fresh and served very quickly, and gets her introduced to the idea of going to a place outside of the house for food. My only complaint is that the "kids'" meals don't have any vegetables in them - not very balanced! So I usually just split my meal with her. The staff is very friendly and remembers us when we come in. I know it's not a traditional restaurant, but we tip all the same because they do such a good job.

    (4)
  • Trish H.

Service is always very friendly and quick. The food is outrageously good. They have unlimited refills of soda which is important to me ( drink about 4 diet sodas during a meal). The serving sizes are large. I love the pad tai so much I have never even tried anything else.

It was busy, it was loud, it was cold. Apparently the last item was due to a broken air conditioner. I mean, it was cold, and we were sitting at the counter RIGHT next to the open kitchen. The service was very warm and the food came out very quickly. The cups for the fountain beverages smelled like bleach, not the most appealing. The person dispatching the food at the kitchen counter was very.... odd (I am unable to explain further). I ordered a typical stir-fry dish with tofu, and the tofu downright sucked. It was cut into strips before being woked with everything else. When I bit into it, the consistency was VERY tough and overly chewy. I like tofu in cubes, seared nice and crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. This was just jerky strips of tofu as I had never experienced it before. Thank god it was smothered in sauce to make it edible. Maybe next time I will try the chicken. I give the place points for the open kitchen that kept me entertained and gave me something to watch as I ate my meal.

So excited to have a Pei Wei close by! I am always on the look out for quick, tasty family joints with two little kids. For the kids, chicken fried rice works great. Then my husband and I get to enjoy Asian with all the flavor and fresh ingredients you crave as an adult. My husband had the spicy Thai tofu dish and thoroughly enjoyed it. We'll be back every few weeks or so!

First time we came 2 years ago we loved this place. But lately it's been so scuzzy! Tables, chairs, all coated in oily scum. So, despite the yummy vegetarian options and fresh brown rice (I think the food can be better than Margaret Quo's!) I just can't stomach eating here unless we are desperate for quick sustenance. If you are desperate, I recommend the coconut curry with tofu & veg, stock velveted, brown rice and for the kid the lo mein with veggies added. Must admit I'm a sucker for the free fortune cookies. :)

Service there has been pretty lousy on repeat visits. The manager is kind of nasty and not helpful at all. You can tell she hates her job. The food is ok, I actually like it sometimes. But the most recent visit the Mongolian beef was wayyy salty. May have to cross this one off the list.

    (2)
  • Jennifer J.

PF Chang's little brother. Many of the same food choices but scaled down versions and casual prices. They can customize anything for you. We love the chicken teriyaki, honey chicken, and lettuce wraps.

Went to dinner with my family. Ordered 2 kids bowls of noodles, 2 spice chicken salads, 2 Mongolian Kung Pao chickens, an order of Crab Wontons and Edamame. Got the Crab Wontons first, which were cool, not warm at all. Next got the kids noodles which were extremely hot. Next got 1 of the Kung Pao chickens which was as dry as cardboard. All the vegetables were overly crispy and the chicken had the consistency of fish. Next got the 2 salads, but still no Edamame. Asked the server for my meal and Appetizer, he looked at me blankly and just said, " I know." Meanwhile people who sat down after us were getting their meals. Finally after 15 minutes of waiting I got the Edamame. They were ice cold. After another 10 minutes of waiting, I finally got my bad Kung Pao chicken. I am not sure what the problem was, but I think this was really bad. And it did not seem like the staff cared that we were unhappy or not. Needless to say, not going to that Pei Wei again.

This place is cool and swanky if you are in your late teens to early 20's. if you are a bit older than 25, this is a fashionable yet average Asian fusion chain restaurant. The food is a bit salty, but tasty and right for the price. We had the Pad-Thai (average), orange peel with chicken (a bit above average), and the Korean BBQ chicken- which had a strange smoky taste to it (there was no pit for the smoky taste- I assume the taste came from liquid smoke). This was a visit to please my mother-in-law's craving for Asian food- I would not visit this place on my own.

  • Adi R.

Awesome place. Me and my family have been coming here for a while. Even though lately the overall appearance of the place has changed, such as the peeling chairs and greasy tables, the food, although a bit repetitive, has always been decent. The honey seared and sweet and sour options are great, with generous portion sizes. The soda machine is also really cool, with lots of options not usually found at other places of this sort. Will continue to come here, but I think they could do with a little remodeling and faster service.

  • Kristin N.

Food is great. Take out service sucks. Waited over 25 minutes and every person after me received their food in under 10 minutes. I received no apology and girls working take out side seemed to have given my food to someone else's order. And stared at me with blank faces when I asked about my order and gave me the wrong order. Love the food but never doing take out again.

  • Ian B.

Been coming here for a while and the quality of the food and service has been steadily on the decline, especially if you happen to come on a particularly busy night. I bring my two small kids here weekly because the love the food. One night I took my kids to the bathroom, came back to our table and it had already been cleared. We had just gotten the meal, maybe taken a few bite each. Tonight, the wait for food wasn't that bad, but the food came out cold. I don't mean lukewarm, I mean cold. I asked to have it reheated and of course it came out seared, which always seems to me like an angry message from the cook. Maybe it was just an off night. (Update: place seems to be cleaner. Food still very good.)

  • Steve S.

So basically my 3 star rating for food still stands from before. But whenever you have to wait 35 minutes for your food to get to the table in this type of place, you're not managing things very well. Or even better, 35 minutes for your wife's dish, and 40 minutes for yours. Granted they were busy, and there were a lot of people standing around for takeout tonight. But waiting 40 minutes at a Pei Wei for anything isn't worth it.

The food is always good, but at this particular location, there are a bunch a gnats flying around. So I was constantly swatting while eating. Will order out next time.

I love this place. Let me start by saying that. But the service and attention to detail I experienced during my last visit is what earned it two .

The first time I visited Pei Wei was at their Hunt Valley location in Maryland. Even though I didn't know if Pei Wei meant anything in Chinese, I was suitably impressed with the food and service, so I decided I'd try the Springfield location, which is closer to home, one day. And so, on a Thursday afternoon, there I was. Like the Hunt Valley location, the Springfield location is also fast casual. That means you order at the counter and take a number. Then you pick a table and they bring the food to you when it is ready. Beverages and beverage refills are self-serve. So it's somewhere between fast food and sit-down, but hopefully the food is better than fast food. I wasn't disappointed though. Although service could not match up to what I saw at Hunt Valley, it was decently fast. I still think the food is a bit overpriced (although perhaps not by Main Line standards), but the Kung Pao Chicken with brown rice that I had was delicious. The one issue I noticed was they ran out of green tea at the self-serve beverages area and didn't refill the tank. So... I think it's worth revisiting, even if I still have no idea what Pei Wei means.

It's terrible here. It used to be so good. Good sucks. It's cold and the potions are so small. Especially when you do take out. I hate it now. It used to be my favorite place. But now. It sucks.

  • Iman R.

It unfortunately was what I expected from a chain/fast food American "Asian' inspired place ....it looks like "Asian" food, but it sure doesn't taste like it. My kung pao shrimp, tasted like vinegar and soy sauce. Though on the bright side, there was plenty of shrimp. Your hole in the wall Chinese joint has more authentic and just better food than this mass produced American basterdization of "Asian" food. Service was good though, that's one thing Americans are good at.

This is the best Pei Wei I've been to. Friendly counter staff helped me with my order. I got Dan Dan noodles with steak. My order literally took 6 minutes. It was amazing. I always sit at the bar because I like to watch the food being made. They have an excellent set up with professionals. The noodle bowl was huge for 8 bucks with a nice amount of freshly grilled steak meat. The added cucumbers took the bite off the deeply burning spice. Its a slow burn in this particular dish that hits you right in the back of the throat. Everything was perfect as perfect could be. The bathrooms were clean, as was the restaurant itself. I will be back soon.

    (5)
  • L. M.

Terrible. The Dan Dan noodles I ordered recently were tasteless. Their fried rice is no better. The best thing they have there is the crab Rangoon. Crappy food for such high prices. You're better off going to the little Chinese/Asian stores instead of this chain.

I felt like I had salt with a side beef for dinner at Pei Wei tonight. On a high note they ran out of veggies for the Mongolian with beef platter I ordered, so I received a side of unsalted steamed bell peppers. They were excellent. I'll admit that my review might be slightly jaded, because I was so distracted by the grit and grime of the dining area that I couldn't concentrate on the food. Even after wetting a napkin and attempting to wipe down a high chair for my daughter, I felt like I was putting her in a dumpster for dinner. It was awful. Even the backs and seats of the regular dining chairs were sticky to the touch and speckled with the last person's meal. The silver lining here is that I didn't have to deal with a sour mop or dirty dishrag smell while I ate, because this "diner" has never seen either. I don't think I'll be able to eat at PeI Wei or P.F. Chang's for a very long time after tonight. There were only four out of 20 or so tables occupied during the 7:00 p.m. dinner service. I don't understand how I didn't see a single employee doing any kind of side work that resembled cleaning, unless you count wiping off your iPhone as you surf Tinder as a cleaning activity. You need to shower in Palmolive after eating at this establishment. Quick aside, the server was polite and said excuse me as he squeezed by while I wiped down the nasty high chair.

What kind of sick twisted corporate monster, makes a conscious decision to get rid of hot mustard, in an Asian food establishment? Look, I don't care where it's from and who makes it, this is Chinese food, and every Chinese food place in America has three things that are definite, soy sauce, duck sauce and that golden brown, tear inducing sinus relieving yellow mud. I promise, I will never go to Pei Wei for chicken tenders, so you can take that honey mustard back to Buffalo Wild Wings, where it belongs and clean those damn tables, cause I'm tired of the flys buzzing around my food while I'm feeding my fat mouth.

    (2)
  • Karen W.

I always get the honey chicken which I really like, but the people that work here are bad enough to make me not want to come back, even though I enjoy said dish. Miserable, unfriendly, always find a way to make me feel uncomfortable or like I am really annoying them.

My wife and I LOVE pei wei. It's great for picky eaters and for the most part they have quick and prompt service and it's priced right for what you're getting. Some of the dishes are absolutely awesome while others are standard fake Asian fair. It's all about expectations with Pei Wei...it's an Asian Diner...not Margeret Quos ...and to be honest I've eaten at 5 star Thai restaurants in many different cities and Pei Wei's Pad Thai isn't far off ....especially for the 8 or so bucks I spend on it. Overall Pei Wei is a great place to get a quick casual bite to eat!

I come here almost every day after the gym. And methodically, Ii order chicken Mongolian barbecue, small plate, double meat, no salt, with brown steamed rice. It's a nice way to get a post workout protein kick, and low glycemic carbos. That, and all the green to you can drink. And on a nice day, the outside seating is wonderful. Service is always prompt and with a smile. I think the sticky tables are the product of the guey disinfectant they use on the tables that leaves a sticky residue. The outside tables that dry off in the sun, dont have that problem. Please, change it. It makes the tables feel dirty. And your customers hate it. The place has a large outdoor section with plenty of seats. No WiFi which takes it down a star in customer service.

Ameri-sian Diner ------------ I have wondered about this place since a recent dinner at nearby Charlie Brown's (see an earlier review). So, as we were in the neighborhood, we decided to give this place a try. Decor/General Impressions: upscale cafeteria style. At first I didn't get the "pay first, seat later," but I guess it helps turn over the tables a lot faster (no time wasted by patrons sitting down, not ordering anything) The hanging woks, etc were clearly for show, but an interesting touch. The walls were adorned with some cool black and white pics of "local flavor" Chinese street scenes. Food: I got the dan dan noodles with beef; she got the Thai dynamite. Not bad overall. The beef was pretty tender, and I enjoyed the standard Chinese glaze (soy sauce, corn starch, sugar). The noodles were a bit overcooked, though. Her Thai dynamite was interesting. The chicken cubes were nicely fried, but I didn't "get" the green onion / brown rice / lime wedge combo. It's asian fusion, I guess. Also of note, unlimited fortune cookies, and complimentary lemon / orange wedges. Overall a pretty good experience with Americanized Chinese take out.

The food was horrible. I ordered the mongolian kung pao with chicken. It was horrible. First of all, the chicken looked like it was burnt tofu. It had no flavor, the only thing I liked was the peanuts in the sauce. I don't even think they cooked the vegetables all the way through... My boyfriend had the Dan Dan noodles because he loves dan dan noodles in general. He said it was really bad. Don't try I know it's a chain, I wasn't expecting gourmet, but I expected a little bit better. Just skip this place and go to Panera next door. DON'T TRY; Mongolian Kung Pao with Chicken; Dan Dan Noodles

I generally love this place for easy take out but the last two times this place has been extremely slow. 30min wait pass the time quoted on the phone. uhh! I had to ask for my money back. They still had 4 people ahead me that were waiting an hour for their food. . . not me. Someone needs to fire their manager.

I'm bucking the trend here. I'm just not seeing what everyone else is. I stopped in here after running an errand on lunch. Everyone in my office said "ooh ooh go to Pei Wei it's delicious!" Why would I not want to go? I looked over the menu and it was reasonably priced. I opted for the korean style tofu and veggies. Mistake. That tofu tasted like no tofu I've had before. Bland and lifeless. What was with the dark brown / nearly black outside portion? It certainly wasn't smoked. The veggies were pretty raw. Not sure if they serve them that way or they were in a rush. I like them to be somewhat cooked. The sauce tasted like basically nothing. Korean? Not close. My stomach kind of hurts to boot and I had to take tums. I won't be returning to this place.

Let's get this out of the way... Yes, it's high-volume, chain-food. Yes, as a result of being high-volume chain-food, it's probably a week's worth of sodium. And yes, it's about as authentic as spray-on hair. Okay, good. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, we can all get over ourselves and move on... I used to go here every Friday with a friend after work to relax, eat, and socialize. We'd spend hours there and I, for one, really liked it. Pei Wei (or at least this branch) is two of my favourite adjectives for a Chinese joint - cheap and cheerful. The food is, in its standardized way, always serviceable and quite often delicious. The portions are enough for two meals (or one unbutton-your-trousers-and-pray-for-the-best meal) and the staff isn't shy about offering boxes. The service is usually friendly and prompt (at their worst a little indifferent, but come on... they work at Pei Wei). As others have said, you order at the front, grab a number, grab a table, and someone brings your order. It's a highly efficient system and food almost always arrives faster than you think it will. The only occasional glitch (and I do mean occasional) is that, if there are two of you, one entree might arrive well before the other. The decor and atmosphere really do live up to the notion of "Asian diner" - tacky, red plastic booths, and chairs with overly ornate black accent pieces that look like they're straight out of some horrifyingly bad 1970s Kung-Fu flick. In it's own mystifyingly kitschy way, it's great. My one true criticism is that it can get really, really loud in there. Loud as in - ah, so this is what it feels like to be inside a firetruck siren loud. I blame a combination of children and poorly designed acoustic - but mostly the children. It really is a diner - cheap, easy, serviceable, and a little tacky - only instead of greasy burgers and shepard's pie, they serve sweet and sour chicken, and beef lo mein.

I get the appeal of this place as it's pretty fast and consistent, but I'm always left just a little disappointed. When I get something breaded, the breading usually isn't crispy enough for my taste and it's doused in a very sweet sauce. When I go for a healthier 'stock velvet' option, it just turns out pretty bland which is by no means a requirement of a stock velvet preparation. I would say go here if your other option is a consistently bad Chinese place but otherwise you can do a little better. They mostly get points for consistency and uniformity.

Decided to eat here for lunch since I haven't been in a while. What a disappointment! Got the tofu and vegetables with brown rice and chose the teriyaki flavor sauce. The dish was nearly inedible. It was drowning in so much sauce it looked like soup! I like some sauce, but it doesn't need so much. t couldn't stomach it after a while and threw away half the dish. What a waste of money. Had to exchange my drink cup because it was greasy. If I ever come back, I will ask for the sauce on the side, but I can find better places to use eleven plus dollars at.

Drove to this place I have been craving it! Missed it since there moving hadn't had it in over two years. Service was fast and friendly food was hot and fantastic. Place was clean. Had the fried rice with shrimp honey seared chicken orange Peel with shrimp Mongolian beef and a kids honey seared and a kids teryaki chicken. Also had the lettuce wraps the Korean ones. They were greasy and it isn't steak it is ground beef. Not enough filling for all the lettuce. Won't get again but the rest was good!

My son (7) and I go to Pei Wei quite a bit. He typically orders the kids' lo mein, or orders the kids' honey seared chicken and asks for lo mein noodles instead of rice. Occasionally he orders sweet and sour chicken but requests that they skip the vegetables. He's a picky kid - I appreciate that they're so accommodating. I have my own quirks, so I'm relieved that they never bat an eyelash when I ask them to skip onions or scallions. I've found their food to be mostly very consistent. On my last visit, the Thai Coconut Curry tasted alarmingly off, somehow burnt. But I consider that an exception rather than the rule. I typically find their sauces to be flavorful and their vegetables to be extremely fresh. (I don't eat meat, so I can only comment on dishes made with veggies and tofu.) Keep in mind that this is stylized Asian food. Don't expect it to taste like what you'll get at your favorite corner Chinese restaurant, or Thai restaurant either. Pad Thai, for instance, is my standard order at any Thai restaurant. Pei Wei's Pad Thai is pretty tasty ... however it tastes nothing like actual Pad Thai. I try to judge Pei Wei's food on its own merits and not compare it to anything authentic. It is what it is, and mostly that's pretty good. It's also affordable, and the portions are very generous. Note: Vegans and vegetarian should order with caution. Ordering with veggies and tofu doesn't guarantee that the dish is OK for you. Many include fish sauce in the sauce, rendering them non-vegetarian. Stick with the dishes specified vegetarian by the green leaf on the menu. My one and only complaint, which I'm finding increasingly annoying, is that the tables are ALWAYS sticky. Not sure if that's just from the wok oil being carried through the air somehow or whatever, but man, it's getting pretty off-putting. I now snag extra napkins from the next table and spread them out in front of us as soon as we sit down. I hate the feeling of having my arms stick to the table like that. It's actually getting to the point that I sometimes opt for Panera (next door) instead, just because the thought of the tables icks me out. Surely there's some kind of grease-cutting cleanser that could remedy the situation. Ah well. Come warmer weather we'll eat outside anyway and it won't be an issue.

This is like a Panera restaurant gone Asian! Place your order in the front, get your own beverage and have a seat. Only difference (I like much better) is they bring you your food! And they clear your tables! This restaurant is a great place for lunch or dinner. The food is fresh and good. I chose the Pad Thai with tofu. ($7.25) It was a generous portion, very fresh and delicious! My friend had the Honey seared chicken & she chose brown rice. ($8.25). The restaurant is modern, kept very clean & very comfortable. The food is excellent ...especially for the price! Always consistant too. It can be a real quick meal or it can be a place to hang out for a while. For the type of restaurant it is I give it a winning 5 star!

This is a great place for a quick and fresh food. The knock-off of PF Changs it still has great selections, nice ambiance and reasonable prices. To keep cost down you seat yourself which is a fair trade off.

Terrible. The Dan Dan noodles I ordered recently were tasteless. Their fried rice is no better. The best thing they have there is the crab Rangoon. Crappy food for such high prices. You're better off going to the little Chinese/Asian stores instead of this chain.

But now. It sucks.

Service there has been pretty lousy on repeat visits. The manager is kind of nasty and not helpful at all. You can tell she hates her job. The food is ok, I actually like it sometimes. But the most recent visit the Mongolian beef was wayyy salty. May have to cross this one off the list.

Everything I've tried here tasted really good. The employees aren't jerks. There's an amazing soda machine from the future there. The ambience isn't stellar, but the place is always clean. No major complaints.

Terrible. The Dan Dan noodles I ordered recently were tasteless. Their fried rice is no better. The best thing they have there is the crab Rangoon. Crappy food for such high prices. You're better off going to the little Chinese/Asian stores instead of this chain.

PF Chang's little brother. Many of the same food choices but scaled down versions and casual prices. They can customize anything for you. We love the chicken teriyaki, honey chicken, and lettuce wraps.

I generally love this place for easy take out but the last two times this place has been extremely slow. 30min wait pass the time quoted on the phone. uhh! I had to ask for my money back. They still had 4 people ahead me that were waiting an hour for their food. . . not me. Someone needs to fire their manager.

I came in a good time with my friend, its usually busy with long lines. I ordered the chicken lettuce wrap, and pad thai. Chicken wrap was probably the best one. Pad thai was ok, traditional pad thai is better at an authentic thai place. My friend had the thai dynamite which was pretty tasty. Aside from the food, the place was neat and well decorated. Servers served our food quickly and they were very nice to us. My overall experience - B

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
