This was my first time at Mesa Grill so wasn't sure what to expect. The girl taking my order was so friendly and was able to answer all my questions I had. When I got home to eat I was very surprised how delicious my good was. I got the chips and queso and chicken quesadilla and both were better than expected! I would highly recommend trying this place out!

Really like this place, it is a sit down restaurant atmosphere but fast food ordering process, so no inflated prices, waitresses, or tips necessary. The portions are huge and have a more restaurant like presentation versus fast food. The food is fresh and tastes good! Now I will say my husband's favorite food is Authentic Mexican. He would give it one star as he says this is just regular food thrown together to make a Mexican sounding dish, when in reality there are no true Mexican cultural cooking methods being used here. I do agree with him this is really not authentic mexican food, but i think it still tastes good and fresh.

Fast casual mexican joint. Order at the counter and grab your food. Really fast and quality is good. Best bets are the burritos, tacos, and enchiladas. You get chips with your meal; the salsa is pretty good but make sure to ask for an extra cup of salsa.

So management didn't respond to my email and I've given them a week. Long story short - a little kid picked food/ice up off the floor and put it in his mouth. His mother told him to cut it out so he pitched it into the cilantro bar. I told a worker and the worker used tongs to pull it out (instead of cleaning the cilantro out and washing the pan) and left it at that. No cleaning. The cilantro was still wet from spitty ice. It was so gross. If this is their cleaning standard I'm never going back. Management doesn't care, either. Tables were dirty and sticky as well and chairs were ripped up. Food wasn't bad but ew, that grossed me out enough to ruin the experience.

Love love love the burrito and the chips ... Very good food... Definitely a A1 spot... don't judge a book by its cover

This is definitely not authentic mexican, but there's not really a lot of that in Springfield. If you're going to go here, the Tijuana Tostada Salad (with steak) is the only way to go.

Pretty decent food. My mom and I stopped here after an unexpectedly long day of shopping. We were both pleasantly surprised. Fresh ingredients, fairly decently priced, and quick! will definitely go here again when in the area.

Great food-nicely done-VERY FRESH-This place does not even have freezers so that is a testament to the freshness. For that reason I am giving this place a 4.5. I've eaten here a few times, in the past some of the cashiers were a little slow, but some new faces I have seen are real movers and shakers and actually look happy to see me, and I don't go in there enough to be considered a regular. So great food, great service, close to the blue route, it's a solid place to grab Mexican food.

YUM ! I was out running errands and came across this place and am certainly glad I did. I ordered the fajita burrito with chicken for $7.99 which is a very reasonable price considering it came with chips and salsa. The chips were very crunchy and not over salted or extremely hard and salt-less like you get at some authentic Mexican establishments. I'm sorry I like my tortilla chips close to Tositos, shame on me, I know. The burrito was also tasty, only thing I wonder is if I had the option of a wheat tortilla vs. the white one I received? Next time I will ask. The service was quick and friendly. I'll be back.

This place is fantastic. We tend to order from here a lot. And this is for good reason! Everything is FRESH. I almost always get a el norto burrito which is huge and stuffed with your choice of beans cheese and meat and smothered if you like. The taco salads which are a favorite of my dad's are huge as well and packed with all the fixings. Just typing make me hungry. The chips and guicomole are some of the best I have ever have. They make everything fresh there including the chips. The tacos themselves are great too my other half go too all the time. You can take out or sit in. The deco is pretty standard but the food is what I go for. The staff is friendly and you don't have to wait for your food too long. This is definitely a hidden jem in delco.

Inside is very big and was kept clean. Used bathroom to wash hands and it was clean as well. As far as the food goes, it was very average. Got enchiladas and they were decent at best. Lacked flavor and just didn't seem as fresh as everyone has been describing the food there. The portions were good sized, although I wish the food was more enjoyable.

Miss Sarit and I came here whilst doing a bit of shopping / working in the area. I got the nachos supreme and she got a burrito. The prices were appealing, and the service was friendly. The place seemed like a chain, but maybe that's my skewed judgement coming from NYC where anything with more than five tables has got to be a chain. A lot of the benches were peeling vinyl, so that worked in their favor for authenticity. The nachos were delish and were topped with sour cream, black beans, pico de gallo, and the usuals (I removed the guacamole as I am allergic). I also got a side of habanero salsa which was good but seemed like it was blended with something odd. A decent spot in the area for some Tex-Mex food, I would return again.

I tried the nachos grande with carne asade. Very good. The house made salsa was excellent, everything was very fresh, and I liked the availability of jalapeño slices at the counter. Good guac too.

This place is normally fantastic Mexican fast food / takeout. Tonight the AC is out. There was a severe heat warning for the county today. The owner still has all his employees working in severe heat and humidity with no AC and no moving air or openable windows. The ice machine has long since melted and the drinks are hot. This is horrible.

For the prices, this place is a frequent stop. They have a variety of Tex Mex. Quality is great. People are friendly. You order at counter, get your drinks then the food is ready in 5 minutes. Check it out.

Mesa is good, but not great. The staff is lovely and the service was good. In fact, it looks like my buddy is the GM and I can get behind that. It's a normal mexi-joint. Good fresh food. Anything you get will be good...but... The portions left me wanting more...and it was a little salty which happens from time to time in these places. If I'm in charge? Let the freshness speak for itself and put salt on the table, dammit!

The Mexican food is good. The burgers are better! TRY THE BURGERS! (Yeah, go figure.) I really like the decor - the wall colors, wall hangings and moravian star light fixtures. Did I mention... try the burgers?

One of my favorite types of food are Mexican style choices and this place isn't half bad. Of course it is more American style Mexican food (if that makes any sense!) but don't be stupid to expect anything different from a chain restaurant. I will say I enjoy much more than Taco Bell if you need a comparison, but is not entirely original. I've always been greeted here very nicely, and food was finished promptly. You order first at the register and then wait for your number to be called. You can pick your table while waiting, and all the unoccupied tables have always looked clean to me. Don't forget to order a cup if you want a drink. Almost all of the meals come with salsa and chips so there may be no need for you to order it separately. The food tastes very fresh and you can see them preparing your food. The burrito is enormous, and the shrimp tacos are great. My dad always gets steak fajitas and always says they are very tasty. If you have anything left there are to-go boxes available at the food pick up station. If you need a quick Mexican food fix in the suburbs but don't want to spend a lot of money this place is good to try.

Okay - this isn't "bad" but I wouldn't call it Mexician. It is more like "americanixican" with more of a South American feel than even Mexican. It was fairly bland, even the "hot sauce". Which was also a strange, creamy hot sauce. I had a pork dish that was "okay". The Fried Banana's actually added a lot to the flavor profile, but in general, it was pretty bland. Small, a bit cramped and not probably someplace I will return to. Fine if you need a quick bite out while shopping.

I "dined" at the Springfield establishment and it was so awful that I actually wrote management an email from my car. First of all, I was out running errands and debating whether or not to stop and grab nachos by myself. I decided to go ahead and stop but I clearly should not have. I walk in and am not greeted by the girl at the register. I proceed to tell her what I want. She couldn't hear me so she said "what" in a nasty tone and I had to repeat myself. I asked for a water to go along with my meal but was not given a cup and I just went without drinking rather than having to approach her again. As she handed me my receipt, I was told to sit in the middle of the dining room because they were cleaning up. This was disappointing to me because I came here alone and was hoping to sit by the window. I decided to wash my hands. It smelled horrendous as I walked towards the bathrooms...like a dirty kitchen. I've waitressed and I know the smell well. I should have taken that third sign that I should have asked for a refund and left but I didn't. I looked at my options of where to sit and asked the girl sweeping if I really couldn't sit by the window. I was hoping she would accommodate me, seeing as though I am a paying customer (as I was taught to do in waitressing even if a section was closed), however, I was told that they don't like to pay people overtime so they have to start cleaning early. I said but it's 8:00 and you close at 9:00. It's not like I'm walking in here at 8:50. Although if I did, I have a feeling the doors would be locked or I would be denied service. She told me "believe it or not, if we don't clean until 9:00 then we won't get out of here until 11:30". This is not my problem as a paying customer. I asked her to clean off a dirty table for me because it was the most secluded. She put her dirty broom on the booth where I was going to eventually sit which was disgusting to me. Again, I almost wanted to say never mind and go get a refund but I stayed because I hadn't eaten in 8 hours and I was hoping things would get better. They didn't. I went to get a napkin to dry off my now wet booth and there were none. I asked for napkins and the same rude girl pointed towards the area where the napkins should be as if I was unaware of what a napkin holder looks like. I told her there were none in there and she got on her tippy toes, looked over and told me there were some in the one napkin holder. So I walked back over and realized if I jammed my hand through the opening, that I could grab a couple of the last napkins available. In seeing me do this she shouted over, "it opens" as if I should have to open this napkin holder. Again, I wanted to leave and should have. I got my measly portion of nachos with hardly any sour cream or guacamole and crushed up chips. When I ate them, they tasted like lighter fluid or something. I don't know if they were fried differently or what but they were disgusting. When I asked for more sour cream I was told I had to pay 80 cents. I asked her if she was kidding and she told me she wasn't. I asked what was going on with the place this night (because I've been here fairly frequently and have never had this many issues), I said you didn't give me anything to get water, you told me where to sit, I had to dig for extra napkins and now you are charging me for sour cream when I barely got any to begin with. She gave me sour cream. As I ate uncomfortably in a booth I didn't want to be in, the floor was swept and trash cans were drug right past all of us that were eating. It was now 8:22 so again, they still have about 40 minutes before they are even officially closed. I was so disgusted by the whole experience. I wish I saved my money and the calories. I should have just gone home after my errands and avoided this whole situation. Management contacted me and sounded sincerely sorry. I was told I would receive a refund via a Visa card that she was going to get "first thing in the morning." That was a month ago. I never received the refund. I have contacted her twice in two weeks and have yet to hear back from her. I was in the mood for Mexican tonight and my Mom and I were in the Mesa shopping center but I refused to go there so we drove to Media to done at a Mexican restaurant there, instead.

The interior is dark and a little uninviting. The food was so-so. I had a burrito and it contained way too much rice. I was asked whether I wanted hot or mild salsa. I asked for hot salsa but it had no kick at all and there was no hot sauce available at the condiment station. I'd eat here again if I were in the area and hard up for something decent, but by no means is this destination Mexican food.

We love Mesa. It's not amazing Mexican food, but it's quick, cheap, and better than ALL the expensive Mexican food restaurants around us. The help there is also very friendly and accommodating. The other day, they were backed up due to a huge to-go order and they comped a person's meal using their tip money. It was a stand-up move. It's BYOB as well!

Good Americanized Mexican food. It is not traditional but then again who is expecting that? Their food is consistent. Try the chicken taquitos! They are great. I've heard good things about the burritos too but haven't tried them myself. Warm chips and salsa are a nice touch. Oh, the staff is super friendly too.

Mesa is pretty awesome! As soon as you walk through the door you can smell the delicious food. I don't care for the way everything mexican comes with onions and.or Guatemala but you can get it 86ed. The portions were big too. At least on the burrito and Nachos. My wife and I got those two items and were full by the time the Nachos were gone. The Burrito was GREAT! (Even better for breakfast the next morning.) The decor of this place is, well, out there. I'm not really sure what they were going for with it. Especially with some random old and 'distressed' wood doors hanging on the walls. It's a hodge podge of decorating that seems they grabbed all they could from the discount/discontinued area of the home depot and did some of the store. However, I won't let the odd look keep me away from the best Nachos I've had in a LOOONG time! The Chicken is AMAZING! I may have to try a burger next time I go. I hear good things

Our first experience was great! The tortilla soup was awesome, and my veggie salad was yummy too. The salsa was delicious as well. Our host Shawn was so friendly and polite, creating a very pleasant experience. I will definitely be back. Keep up the good work!!

I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food. In fact, I've probably had it less than 20 times in my life. That said, I won a gift certificate here, and after a long afternoon of shopping at DSW, Marshall's, Burlington Coat Factory, and Old Navy (all in this center), I was starved! I went to Mesa and got a chicken burrito, which was HUGE and delicious. I ended up only eating half, despite being starved, and had the rest for dinner the next day. The staff is nice (and understanding, if you're a dolt like me who doesn't eat Mexican food and didn't know I had to pick different types of beans, salsa, etc.), and the food is good. I would definitely return to try their other offerings. Interestingly, they also have burgers!

  • Michael M.

If you love authentic Mexican Food, this is not the place for you. You stand in line with a paper menu ordering at a register like a Taco Bell. It's clearly geared for those who would be afraid to try anything with real mexican flavor. You're probably better off asking for their American food, which they prominently feature at the register. I hate to be so biased, but it's places like this that let me down the most. You won't find much here that you can't get at Qdoba or Taco Bell.

An interesting blend of background music that ranged a pretty wide spectrum of genres. Anywho... the food was good. One of the more enjoyable meals I've had with Mexican cuisine, and probably a bit cheaper per unit volume than chipotle (at least chipotle in the cities). They've also go milk shakes and burgers. Perhaps trying to have something for everyone. Smother your burritos. Do it.

Definitely not authentic Mexican. Food was very blah, bland. Sort of like the McDonald's of Mexican only not as good. Will not be returning.

  • Louis B.

It was OK. Not bad, not outstanding, but just OK. Compared to Baja Fresh, or Moe's Southwest Grill, it is good, but just fell short on several items. Yes, your order is cooked fast... the way the menu reads it and no more. I like Moe's because you can tell them each and every ingredient on your salad. And I'm totally picky on my food. Then there was the exercise in ordering from the hyper cashier, who apparently had six too many espressos and was pinging off the walls. No Starbucks for you. EVER...

  • JJ M.

We go Mesa bout once a month. Something for everyone, and its all A-OK. I like the fish tacos, Missus JJ gets nachos or fajitas, the little J gets chicken fingers. Somebody hid a burger joint inside our Mesa. One door, Dos Menus. The burgers are much better than your garden variety fast food and I prefer them to Five Guys or Zacs. The fries can be perfectly evil if you are like me and love crinkle cuts with whiz and ketchup, or load em up with chili, gravy, buffalo style or even PB&J. Now, I wish we had a Dos Pesos (Houston's finest drive through mexi) but we don't, and I like Mesa way better than Chipotle, Qdoba and most of the others, although I used to hit a Baja Fresh in Bethesda that was really good. So, if you are in Marple, the Mecca of Mexican (Moe's, Mesa and Taco Bell all within about 1/4 mile, wassup with that?) Mesa gets my vote for best place to fill-a your tortilla.

I wasn't expecting much from this place, I thought it was just another generic Mexican joint in a shopping center. Well I love being pleasantly surprised. Chips and salsa are some of the best I've ever had. Mild and hot were both good but I like it spicy. The pork taco was just ok. I heard the cooks are Mexican so there is hope for some authenticity. Id like to come back and try their tostada salads which I heard were fantastic.

    (4)
  • Jennifer W.

Why do I keep coming here? First of all, the music is loud - not Mexican music - more like Metallica. Secondly, the mango chicken salad was bland! How is this possible? We both noticed that the salsa tasted more like a pleasantly spicy marina than actual salsa. The people were quite friendly. They did oblige our request to turn down the volume (by turning the music off). The service is quick and my husband likes the food. However, I'm partial to Qdoba over Mesa Fresh. I think they've lost their edge.

  • Jayna B.

I went here last weekend on my way home from shopping and I was VERY pleasantly surprised! The food was fresh and made to order. It was also very quickly made which can sometimes be a bad thing but it was actually kind of amazing how quickly it was made and how delicious it truly was. I ordered the Tostada Salad with veggies and the veggies were cubed making it much easier to eat than Qdoba or Chipotle salads. I read that some people thought the music was too loud but I did not find this to be an issue at all. The music was pleasant, although it wasn't what I would have expected. Some XM/Sirius station with a mix which I always love. The also have a station with sauces which I totally appreciated because I like to dip and try, not have my food slathered by the food makers. If I lived closer to this place, I would be eating here weekly.

Best Fresh Mexican place I've tried in the region. I've been to Baja Fresh, Chipolte, and others, they have the best food! by far Atmosphere - Kinda Southwestern feel to it, but being in the Southwest before, I say they try a little too hard. Plenty of families there, but that's because they have healthy food. Parents need to control their kids when they're out at any restaurant, not the restaurants fault. Staff - No servers, based on an 'order up' menu system. Clean restaurant and one of the more immaculate bathrooms when I go. Cashiers are friendly and can recommend good parings of food or quality of something you may not have. Cooks are always quick and not long for waits during lunch/dinner rush. Food - BEST part about Mesa, one of the best burritos I've ever had! El Norte burrito is packed (can get chicken, pork, or steak) and all FRESH ingredients. Generous supply of homemade salsa can be requested at no extra charge. Wife loves the fresh guacamole as well. Intangibles: Fresh sides for your food (cilantro, jalapenos, onions, even lemon for iced teas). Packaged together with a "Joe Spuds" restaurant, but that's a different review, stick with Mesa Fresh. Warm chips and salsa with every meal are a nice touch and delicious to boot. Overall: A nice place to get some great food that's affordable and delicious. Have two other locations as well, which is great for anyone in the region to have close by. If you're not a burrito fan, try the fish or shrimp tacos, both are really, really good and hard to find something like it in this area.

We are so happy that there is a place in Springfield to get great Mexican food! My husband and I order from here at least once a week, usually twice. We've had the burritos, chicken fajitas, and the chips and queso (which will knock your socks off). It's good to great, not excellent, based on the day and time you order. Take out only takes 5-10 minutes, and the food is always fresh.

I definitely enjoy some mesa fresh from time to time. They have tasty, mostly very fresh mexican foods. Everything I've had there has been good even their hamburgers and fries are surprisingly good. The cashiers are always friendly and helpful. The decor and dining area are what you would expect from any chain place. Overall, I've had great experiences there and would recommend.

Went for dinner on Sunday. Cashier was a bit rude - made us feel like we were taking her away from something more important. The place also has all of the atmosphere of a food court at the mall. The food also took quite a while - far longer than their competitors like Quoboda or California Tortilla. All that being said, the food was quite good. I'd still pick California Tortilla over them, but I'd eat there again.

I went here for takeout on a Saturday at noon. The line was long-ish but the staff was super-efficient. The cashier said my order for 4 people would take 4-7 minutes. I went to the restroom, and when I got back, the order was ready! Super fast! I felt like there was no wait at all! I had a steak salad in a tortilla bowl. Everything tasted really fresh and yummy! I would definitely go back and try other items on the menu!

Yum!! Really delicious vegetarian options; veggie tacos are so good!!! I've also had the fish tacos and a veggie burrito. Everything has been tasty and they are consistent. It's byob, although I don't see it as that kind of place. More like a quick lunch.

I'm writing this based on my experience with their food truck. Got two grilled chicken tacos and have to say it was pretty 'blah'. No flavor. Nothing special. Literally a few chunks of grilled chicken, cilantro and green salsa on soft taco shells.

I stopped into Mesa Fresh with a friend after some shopping last night. If you've ever been to Baja Fresh, it's a lot like that (I don't know if the two chains are somehow connected though). I got a vegetarian burrito with pinto beans. It was cheap, very delectable, and very large! -- had to eat it with a fork and knife. It came with a side of fresh made tortilla chips and freshly made salsa, which honestly was my favourite part! There's nothing like fresh salsa, if you ask me... one of life's simple (food) pleasures. If I saw another Mesa Fresh somewhere, I'd definitely stop in. You definitely get some good food for your money -- plus free refills on drinks. :-)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

The individual hamburgers served at restaurants are prepared using everything including lettuce, onion, tomato, and sliced pickles as well as melted cheese on the patty or crumbled on top. American restaurants also serve veggie burgers for those who don't relish meat. Cheeseburgers are also hot favorite in the United States.
