To be clear from the start - this was a takeout order. Anyway, the first entree we open when we got home was the potato gnocchi my wife ordered. It was pathetic. You can see the picture in my profile (to decide for yourself): s3-media4.ak.yelpcdn.com… When we called to ask if 7 pieces of gnocchi was appropriate (maybe this was an appetizer or we botched our order), we were told "yes...it's expensive" to make. Yes, it had some Tasso ham that can be pricey, but not enough to make this potato dish worth $19. The 7 gnocchi were mushy and wet. The "broccoli pesto" was really just food processed broccoli with a ton of oil (oily and salty and no flavor). They said we could return it for a refund (which is all they really can do for a takeout order), but the curt and unsympathetic response we got on the phone made it seem like they really could care less. We didn't return the meal because we wanted to eat as a family (30 minute round trip there and back), and we had the remainder of a decent meal, so we thought. The food was not very good. Most of it was overly salty. The fish and chips sure didn't seem like fresh made beer battered fish (which is my favorite thing to get at restaurants, so - in my mind at least - I've got a decent point of reference to make this statement). While not inappropriately small like the gnocchi, the fried fish portion certainly wasn't the biggest I've seen for $17 and resembled the frozen-then-fried stuff I get at chain restaurants. Overall, a pretty poor meal even without considering the gnocchi. Maybe my experience is isolated to take-out orders, but at the least - I highly suggest avoiding takeout from this place. And, this review doesn't even discuss why my family had stopped being regulars there some time ago (this was their chance to bring a previously loyal customer back, and they certainly did not).

We were spending the night in Quakertown and there were not pet friendly restaurants. So we did take out. Spinnerstown Hotel Menu looked great. We ordered Seafood Italia $28 Seafood Medley $25 Housemade Mac & Cheese of lobster claw meat $13 It was the worst use of premium shrimp lobster scallops! Was over cooked and under seasoned. No herbs, spices, not even a little salt or pepper. We would have been happier with a lean cuisine. Don't waste your money here for the fod!!! I would say stick to the beer.

We arrived at 7pm with a party of 6 for dinner. While we didn't have a reservation the hostess was quite rude. There were quite a few open tables in the bar and outdoor area. No attempt was made to accommodate us in any way. She quickly told us, rudely, that there was no room and that we would have to wait until 7:30 for the next open spot. We would of waited if we felt welcome but there was 0 effort made to make us feel that way. In fact, we couldn't wait to leave.

Food is terrible, service is subpar. I do recommend this place. I actually tried it twice and was disappointed both times.

I think we are finished now. Second time in a row it took well over an hour to get our food and it was luke warm at best. The manager was full of excuses and condescending about "non microwaved food taking time to prepare." Thanks, we are aware of that. Quality and service used to be great. Not sure what happened but it is no longer there.

Myself and 11 others decided to celebrate mothers day/my moms birthday here. This place tries so hard to be something it isn't. When you start trying to be fancy, you best deliver when it comes to my food. Oh, how you did not. No one was satisfied with their food. My burger probably the worse I had in a long time. The other entree's people had Chick Parm, Filet Mignon, Etc.....all failed to deliver also. Service is very very very very very very very very very slow. Took 15minutes for the soup to come out. Manhattan Clam Chowder, which basically tasted like tomato soup. Not the slightest hint of a "seafood" taste. I think you could get better quality from campbell's soup. About another 15minutes later, the rest of our food arrives, yay! zzzzz..... The beer menu is huge, but highly disorganized and hard to read. Someone needs to hire out someone to make a beer menu that people can read quickly but effectively, not 80pages.

I stopped in for lunch a couple of weeks ago and was very pleased with my meal! I ordered a burger (medium/well) which was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Not greasy, not dry, just perfect! I'll definitely be back for dinner soon!

The food was very good. the service was slow. The bartender was great and new his beers. The server not so much and when we asked questions he had to go back and check...The desserts are delicious! this is a nice place for a business lunch or dinner or for a date night. Not good for kids.

I've been here a several times in the past few years and on every visit I ate in the dining room and ordered a meal from the dinner menu, so I'm not qualified to comment on the bar area or the bar food i.e. hamburgers, sandwiches, wings, etc. The food here is best described as good and consistent, but not amazing. The same can be said for the portions and the interior layout/decorations. The service has always been adequate and friendly. Spinnerstown Hotel is an ok place, there's just nothing exceptional or even above average going on here. It's like it wants to be more than it is but just can't quite get there maybe because of its Nowheresville location or some other reason. The most noteworthy thing about the restaurant is that it's the only restaurant in Spinnerstown. If you're not looking to be wowed and don't mind a fairly unimaginative and hackneyed dinner menu, with the only notable exception being Ostrich filet, it's an ok option for dinner.

My wife and I made a reservation at the Spinnerstown Hotel for Saturday night at 730, When we arrived the place was packed, and to me that's a good sign, it means others enjoy the food and service at this establishment. When we checked in the host told us that it was a 1/2 hour wait or more. Now I don't know how you interpret the word "reservation", but to me it means you are seated with in 5-10 mins from the time you check in and are put ahead of anyone who walks in with no "reservation". Finally after 25 mins we were seated. only to have the server ignore us, we asked for water which took over 10 mins to get, our appitizers took over 20 mins to come out. The main course was perfectly cooked and took a resonable time to come out, about 6-10 mins after salad. Our server was friendly and polite but the water issue was a problem for us. If i could have just rated the food it would be 8.5 out of 10 but the service was about a 2. Tip to hosts and servers, if your going to take reservation seat them when they come in do not make them wait with people who decided at the last minute to go to the same place, and servers write your table's orders down, or you WILL for get something. I can't say my wife and I will try this place again.

As much as I enjoy the Spinnerstown Hotel I think my initial review was kind of salty. It's a pretty good place and now that there's no smoking the bar side is pretty enjoyable. Still don't stray too far from the Vermont chicken melt. Sometimes we get the pizza fries and if you ask they'll fry them a little longer so the fries don't become soggy from the sauce. Last time I went there they had Yuengling Bock on tap and since they sell growlers (big jugs of beer) it was kind of exciting. It's only available on tap or by the keg.

We've been here several times. A few times for dinner and once for a lunch. I have no complaints at all. The food was great. The service was good and I'd come back as soon as I can.

Food was way too salty. Martinis were made wrong. Waitress was rude. Do not recommend. Manager remade my martini acknowledging if was made wrong but I was with a party that had to leave at a certain time so I didn't have time to drink it. She didn't take it off the bill. I wasn't going to make an issue of it as I was with several friends, so I decided to write a review. They got my $10 but I'll never go back there.

Food was very good. I had a roast beef sand which on a crusty salted roll. Excellent! We tried a variety of foods the ostrich fajitas, fish and chips and. Cheeseburgers where great as well. The service was Very slow and chaotic or I would have given them More stars. They brought 5 out of 6 drinks completely forgetting one which we had to ask twice for. But overall great place to go with friends.

Very nice. Prices are very good considering how fancy it is. Our waitress and host were both very polite, prompt, and professional. Earned them a 20% tip on the bill. Food was very good. The BEER LIST WAS KING. Lots of belgian selection and IPAs too. Draft list had only 1 macro beer and like 10 micros!

Best place to stop for a really disappointing meal. It looks like it has everything going for it. I had a terrific local brew and then came dinner. Mediocre at best and Joan's mashed potatoes had part of a napkin in it. When brought to the managers attention all we got were excuses; I think they thought we really weren't bright enough to distinguish cloth from potatoes. What does that say for the potatoes? Otherwise our one-week stay in Quakertown was all favorable.

While in Quakerstown we decided to give Spinnerstown Hotel a try for dinner. We read a few reviews and a few of them commented on slow service, however, their menu looked to be right up our alley. We were a little nervous when we waited ten minutes to be acknowledged by the hostess. While the food was a bit slow coming out, our waitress was very pleasant and informative. The Irish Onion Soup was phenomenal. (to me....well worth the 10 minute wait for hostess) I had the Seafood Italia which was alfredo pasta with a light seafood broth, delicious perfectly pan seared scallops and shrimp. Loved it! My girlfriend had Beer Braised Short Ribs, melt in your mouth tender and seasoned perfectly. We decided after a delicious meal that aside from the 10 min wait for the hostess, the dining experience was well worth it. Pleasant atmosphere, delicious food and the realization that good things come to those who wait...........Hopefully Spinnerstown Hotel reads this review and realizes they need to speed things up just a little bit.

Great beer bar, i would say best one outside of the city, the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, Hal is a great bartender and knows his beers, he is very smart at using the Randalizer to it's fullest potential.

Fantastic restaurant! I have been there many times and it is consistently good, fresh food. I have some food allergies and they are EXCELLENT in checking on all the ingredients in different dishes and dressings. One of my top three restaurants in the area.

We finally got to the Spinnerstown Hotel this past week for dinner. When we arrived we were greeted at the door and asked if we wanted to be seated in the dining room or a booth in the tavern. I took a peek at the dining room which looked very plain so we decided to go with the tavern area. The booth was uncomfortable and the area was really loud - but we asked to be seated there so we figured we'd order a drink and just move on. I will say they have an impressive beer list BUT since I am a wino I did not partake. The menu was okay . . . nothing really stood out so I ordered Fish and Chips and my hubby ordered a burger. It seemed to take a really long time to get our food. When we did my husband's burger had pepperjack cheese on it and was missing the bacon. It was suppose to be provolone and bacon - when we mentioned this to the server her response was - oh you want provolone and bacon? as if she was surprised . . . My husband was starving so he kept the burger with the pepperjack and got the bacon on the side. My fish and chips were nothing special. They charged 15.99 for frozen fish and chips. It was supposed to be served with coleslaw which did not come out. I mentioned that to our server and she said - do you want the coleslaw? Um, yes that would be nice. It took forever to get our food, our check and I never was asked if I wanted another glass of wine. When I asked if there was a new cook the waitress was not amused - she just told me they had a banquet going on. The impression we got was that she could not have cared less. I'm bummed that we did not have a better experience here. I has hoping it would be really good food and service. We might give it one more try because everyone is entitled to one bad night . . . .my instinct is though that this is more the norm here than not.

I wasn't expecting much, but the lunch was pretty, well, A-OK. I had a crab cake sandwich. A boatload of filler and not much crab, but too much crab can get me, well, crabby, so I liked the taste of the damned thing. Plus, the beer selection is superb. You can get anything, pretty much. I shot the moon and had a Keystone Light. It was the right combination of hops and.....no, I opted for diet coke. It was a work lunch. We sat out on the patio, which was pleasant, except for the noise of the motorcycles that rambled down the side road. Good Lord, my sweet potato fries rumbled off the plate and onto the floor. Next timw, I'll come for dinner and try the different beers. Service was really pleasant....which always helps.

this is the kind of place that i want to like more than i actually do. the dining room and the bar are really have a classy look to them. the deck is nice as long as you don't have motorcycles roaring by every 45 seconds. the beer menu is tremendous. appetizers are mixed (spinny wedges are tasty, but $6 for 6 wings and charging extra for blue cheese and celery is brutal). the sandwiches on the food menu are decent. the entrees are way, way overpriced for the quantity and quality that is given. the kitchen can be painfully slow. the servers are friendly and attentive.

Terrific food. Had the manhattan clam chowder with some very nice bread. Also had the crab sandwich, reasonably priced and surprisingly fresh. Served with homemade chips. That gets a bonus from me. Irish onion soup was sweet and rich, and why not do a nice twist on a classic. Terrific beer selection, as mentioned by others. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit to the Spinnerstown hotel for a nice meal. Quaint establishment off the beaten path.

Since I can't recall what I had to eat...it wasn't too memorable. The beer drinkers enjoyed the beer menu....but they were out of the one a fellow diner came to enjoy. Sat in the room with the fireplace going, and it was so hot, the windows were open. Moments of heat - moments of cold - overall, a very 'vanilla' experience.

So last night was the third time my wife and I have met friends for dinner and drinks at the Spinnerstown Inn over the past few years. Last night confirmed what I've keep thinking about the Spinnerstown Inn: A) gigantic, massive, overwhelming beer menu, B) strangely inattentive service, and C) okay to bad food. Note, our party of 4 had a really good time hanging out here because there is a nice atmosphere to the place. We sat in the bar area, which I prefer to the formal dining area because, well it's less formal in the bar area. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about beers and their beer selection leaves me utterly overwhelmed. Luckily we were able to settle on and split some very tasty beers during dinner and hanging out. A last note, is that every time I've gone at least once does someone order a beer and they are out of that particular beer. I realize they have 250-300 beers on their list and this is bound to happen. It is just a bummer when you spend 5 minutes searching and debating about what to order, and then they are out. There is not much to say about the food because it's just okay at best. My steak sandwich was gooey and tasteless with a small handful of potato chips flung onto the plate. The side of soggy krinkle cut fries were not good either. My wifes chicken cheese steak came with "sauce and onions". These were quite possible the most measly "sauce and onions" I've ever seen. Perhaps there entrees are the way to go. I just can't bring myself to shell out $20+ for an entree at a place that service such sad sandwiches and sides. When our server was present, she was attentive. Problem is there where long stretches where we would have liked to order another couple of beers and we were left looking around with no server/waitress in sight, which is odd given the place cleared out halfway through our meal. Since we were there for most of the night I started to assume this was one of those times where the waitress punches out and no one pick up your table. Nope, she eventually came around and had not actually left for the night. So overall beer selection-4, food-2, and service 3.

A truly outstanding beer selection, and all of it served properly too. Some food is very good, other food is okay (very much like the Sysco freezer truck backed up to the kitchen). I've been to the bar a few times where the service is good to very good, and the one time I ate in the dining room as part of a very large party the service was outstanding. I've never seen a waitress willing to beak up the checks for a party of 15 any way you want before eating here. Definitely worth going for the beer, but remain skeptical on the food.

This is about the 4th time I ordered the Kummelwick sandwich and honestly the taste this time was flavorless. It was never like this prior. Also the roll they put this on was 4" long with a small amount of roast beef. They seem to be skimping a little for a $10 sandwich (with fries). Beer selection is always good so can't complain here.

This place is tricky. They have an incredible beer selection and the service is pretty darn good. They have "meet the brewer" events with great breweries. The atmosphere is lit nicely and somewhat festive. The dinner specials are disapointing. The kitchen tends to be a little overly ambitious. They try really hard to be cutting edge and gormet but it's not executed well. The food is never the right texture or over salted or over priced. The salad that comes with your dinner is weak! Wilted Iceburg lettus...why bother! I think they would benefit from simplifying the menu. Go for a sandwich or burger and some wings, they do the simple things well. And did I mention their beer selection is fabulous!

Spinnerstown Hotel has it going on! The food and atmosphere in addition to the quality bartender who has a vast knowledge of the history of beer make this place a definite go to. Food was terrific, I had a NY strip with roasted cauliflower. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and was excellent in flavor and seasoning and the cut of meat was top notch. Cauliflower was a nice side dish. It also came with a side of potato but I opted to get double vegetable instead. They have a gazillion different types of beer with about 12 different types on tap. They serve flights of beer for $9, four 4ounce tastings of the beers of your choice. My total bill came to $58 for dinner, 3 beers, tax and tip. Go there if you find yourself in the area. I was staying in Quakertown for business and there isn't much around there. I was grateful to find this gem of a restaurant, it was so much more than I could have expected.

I love the spinnerstown hotel. I have been here so many times i have lost count. The food is amazing and the specials always change. I have to say the oktoberfest options and sausage platters are delicious! The owners are very personable and the bartenders are friendly and attentive. I have been given free mixed drink creations that the bartender was working on just to try. The ambiance is higher class and the beer menu is huge (they also have many meet the brewer events. If you like it a little livlier and loud stick to the bar area for dinner, if you like a quieter more intimate dinner choose the dining room. The dining room looks a bit plain but once you are seated you notice the fireplace and country-like decorations. The service has always been good for me, fast and attentive and they always know what the food tastes like. YOU MUST SEE THE DESSERT TRAY! Even if you dont order any dessert you have to look at the amazing baked goods that are homemade by a woman who lives across the street from the hotel. The lava cake is amazing! I really cannot talk up this place enough, it is by far the only place i have ever actually NEEDED to drive 2 hrs to get to (since i moved).

We had a late night dinner at the bar on Friday. The beer selection is great and the full menu is served at the bar. The bartenders have this amazing way of making every single person at the bar feel welcome. They were ready with beer and food suggestions whenever we asked. In terms of food, the goat cheese hummus was awesome, the black tea pancakes were odd. (Crispy pancetta in a fluffy pancake). I would highly recommend the short rib cheesesteak. We aren't local but plan to go back next time we are in town.

Fantastic meal. We had the mussels, bacon lollypops, lamb Shepards Pie, prime rib, and Gluten Free lava cake. The Shepards Pie was a bit salty, but the mash cut that out well. I think waxed green beans have had their day. Some steamed broccoli would have gone nicely with the dish. The mussels and bacon lollypops was a delightful starter. Fantastic wine and beer selection. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town. All the staff were polite and attentative.

I've been driving by Spinnerstown Hotel for several years and I finally decided to dine there. We went on a Saturday night around 9ish (after the dinner rush is over) and were promptly seated. the decor is nice, although all the Christmas lights made me feel I was in the holiday season. The beer menu is quite expansive and most reviewers praise the selection of beer. I wasn't here for the beer, so let's agree that they do have a good selection. The server was very nice and attentive. I had a few questions regarding the crab cakes-wherever I go and order the crab cakes I am told they are "the best" and filled with lump crab meat. usually, to my disappointment, they are filled with bread and shredded claw meat, so I am skeptical. The server explained that they use only backfin meat but do not put a lot of seasoning in them. I was faced with a dilemma: order the crab cakes and surely be disappointed or order the hunters pork. I ordered the pork to be safe. Alas, I was very disappointed with this selection. The dinner salad was a nice mix of salad greens with "a housemade light citrus vinegarette" first, I could barely see the salad considering it was a very small portion and the dressing was missing-I mean there was a coating of oil on the lettuce but it had no flavor. I should have tasted the citrus. Also, I like fresh cracked pepper on my salad-none was offered but there was a shaker bottle of salt and pepper-the ones you see at cheap greasy spoon diners. The rolls were good with raisins and cranberries in them-they were warm and appeared to be freshly made. They should just serve the rolls as an entree and end it there considering how awful my main entree was. They offer "small plates" which are way way way overpriced. They cost almost as much as an entree. I did not order any of these. The main entree: The hunter's pork. Described as: Pan seared pork mignon, brandy sauce with mushrooms, toasted walnuts, Granny Smith apple slaw, sage, housemade sweet potato gnocchi $25.00 The pork was pan seared well. It was slightly pink in the middle which was good. The meat, however, was dry-tinder dry. I thought about taking it home and using it to start my wood stove. The sauce was not at all as described. It wasn't even a sauce-it was au jus. When I think of sauce, I think of the French tradition of sauce: velvety smooth, nice sheen that just coats the back of a spoon-akin to demi glace. This sauce was watery and lacked substance. Hypertension patients beware! The sauce was so salty that I swear my blood pressure rose about 75 points in about a nanosecond (other reviewers write the same). The sauce was so salty and unflavorful that I think they used the seasoning packet that makes a broth from ramen noodle soup packets-actually that stuff has more flavor than this and probably less salty. No brandy flavor-no flavor at all. Yes there were mushrooms-I expect neatly sliced mushrooms. There were chopped up pieces and slices and a lot of them. Sage? no sage at all. The walnuts were added as an afterthought-not at all toasted. Mr. Chef: how about actually toasting the walnuts as described? The potato gnocchi: globs of undercooked/raw dough on the plate-no flavor at all and they absorbed the salty fluid on the plate so much that I could have taken them home and used them in my water softener as a salt tablet. Don't get me wrong, I like dough, but that's cookie dough. The "chef's choice vegetable: exactly four (4), yes, FOUR green beans under the pork. Green beans are cheap couldn't you at least had given me FIVE? I have to admit that the granny smith apple slaw was very good, but it was heaped on top of the pork and was difficult to eat as it just fell into that liquid they called a sauce. About the presentation. It could best be described as abortion on a plate: too much going on-things a mess-mushroom pieces everywhere an errant green bean laying on the side of the plate. Everything was swimming in that salt water bath that they call a sauce. I should have taken a picture-it was an abomination and insult to food stylists everywhere. Overall, the place is pricey-VERY pricey ( I don't mind pricey as long as the food is excellent) and the chef appears to have a hubris as no other to actually believe this food is excellent. They have nice decor (sans the Christmas lights) and they appear to be "high brow" dining, but it falls very short of the expectations that one has based upon their appearance and prices. People will still flock here because I believe most people have such low expectations about restaurants around here that they could be served cat litter on a plate and think it's great. I was severely disappointed. For a few dollars more I could have gone to Bethlehem to Emeril's Chophouse and had quality food prepared by professional chefs. Spinnerstown Hotel puts on a dog and pony show but really are displaying sewer rats in a maze. Service: 4* Food quality: 1/2* Value: 1/2* Decor/cleanliness: 2* Overall: 1*

SLOW SLOW SLOW. food was mediocre at best. This place gives off an air of fancy, but the service and food do not follow suit. We dined with 3 adults and 3 children. were never offered a kids menu (HELLO?!) Note to waitresses everwhere- if people come in with young kids, say hello then offer a kids menu and KEEP THE DINNER MOVING. Parents appreciate that sort of thing. crab cakes were bland. scallops were overdone. side salads needed more dressing. Beer selection was great, but that's where the positives ended.

I've been a regular here for years. The beer selection is always widely varied and interesting, and the tasting flights they offer make it easier to taste a wide variety. I've not really explored the bar food end of the menu, so I can't say how the burgers and cheesesteaks are... but I've had some very tasty stuff from the monthly specials lists and can say that the higher end stuff has been quite good. They had a wasabi crusted soft shell crab a couple of years back that was amazing... keep hoping to see it return to the menu. If the idea of a place that would offer a wasabi crusted soft shell crab squicks you out, this is not the place for you to order food. Just go for the beer and you'll leave happy.

The place is small-especially the bar area. The beer election is outstanding and that is why I iike to stop at the place The food is always good. We had the ostrich quesedilla and it was excellent. The service can be somewhat slow which is odd for such a small place. However, our server was very friendly.

Place was recommended by the staff at my hotel. When I asked why this place she said it was because everyone says its really good and they have lots of beers. Not a beer drinker so I am here for the food. My unsweet iced tea tasted like it was made yesterday. But the Irish Onion Soup was amazing. Best onion soup I have ever eaten. Chicken Carbonara was equally as delicious with its home made pasta. Service was great food was great.

Recent renovations to the bar area made this favorite even better. If you want a great meal and friendly place to grab a craft beer this is the place. The beer selection is top notch and constantly changing with the seasons.

My first time there. Never again. I have worked in food service as a server for 10 years. Server had no personality and mumbled when he spoke. I could barely hear him. Food is very expensive for what you get. Food took an hour to come and it wasn't busy in the restaurant. My son's meal was cold and burnt. I ordered the blackened scallops. 3 scallops that were so salty I couldn't even eat. Green beans not fully cooked. My husband's onion rings were so salty they were not edible. I am a salt lover but this was salty even for me. The manager said she loves the onion rings...wonder how her blood pressure is. All that for $150. Not at all impressed. Over priced and totally disappointing.

Make a reservation! Hometown feel, great atmosphere, terrific food, and if you are a beer geek... well, you may just want to move in! The beer menu is a book, and the draft list is lengthy and always changing. The monthly beer dinners are not to be missed! Dining areas include a more formal room, the tap room, bar seating, and the deck (seasonally). Food ranges from apps and burgers to gourmet specials and filet mignon.

Great food, the Irish soup might be the best soup I have ever had. The atmosphere is great and the beer selection is 2nd to none, I have not been to a place, other than in Philadelphia, where a selection of beer is very well planned out with a level of care that is most likely under appreciated by most. Great place to find rare and unique craft beer. A must try if your in the area, or just passing through.

This place is so great! I was in town for business for four nights, and I spent all 4 evenings at Spinnerstown Hotel. The food was excellent, I got the Hunter's Pork two of the four nights I was there, it was that good. The service was great, I sat at the bar and the bartenders were all very nice and I was never waiting around for anything. The atmosphere of the place was excellent. I will definitely go back if I'm ever there for business again, and recommend this place to anyone wanting to avoid the many chain restaurants around the area.

Extensive draft and bottle list that changes frequently. Interesting menu with local favorites. You can also buy beer to take home that you've tried at the bar. Beautiful back patio area as well. Luckily not far from home so we'll be back.

I couldn't get passed the flies in the dining room, they were everywhere. I really want to love this place and they have a great ale menu but the flies were just too much. We had to wave them away on more then one occasion. The basket of fries were good! Service was ok and dinner was just ok.

Service is the weakest link in my opinion. We sat at the empty bar and waited a few minutes before the bartender acknowledged us. Waited about 10 minutes after our reservation to be seated (not bad) then waited for the server and after ordering, waited about another 10 minutes for drinks. Food is pretty good Staff is courteous Beer selection is great, although they cost just a bit more than some places I would go back, however it may not be my first choice.

Travelling for business and hotel recommended this place. I was skeptical when we walked in , but one look at the menu I couldn't believe how amazing options there were. I literally could have ordered anything and know I would have been happy. I ended up with the two of the specials, a tomato soup with pancetta and cheddar cheese and and the Wild Boar Pork Belly meatballs. My mouth was watering with all the tastes and flavors. Everything was absolutely amazing and you could taste and see obviously freshly made. The eclectic menu of beers on tap is an added bonus (although I think a lot of people go for the beer!) It is a must-stop if you are in this area and I can't wait to go back!

My family and I went to the Spinnerstown and we all enjoyed our meals in the outdoor eating area. Their menu offers something for everyone. We especially loved the Ostrich quesadillas! Our Washington state Cabernet was very good and fairly priced. Service was also very accommodating. I'm looking forward to going back again I can't stop thinking about the burger with bacon jam!

We had our Holiday party back in December. Buffet style we had au gratin potatoes, chicken parm, green beans, and cod. They also served dinner rolls and cookies. The room was very welcoming and very festive. The meal was mediocre and not memorable at all. Wouldn't be against another PAID company function there but ill try something else.

Went here with high expectations based on previous visits. The beer selection as good as anywhere you will find. If you are looking for a superb meal its mediocre. I rate it as above average bar food. Service was also disappointing I'd say slightly below average.

Since moving in right across the street I have had the extreme pleasure of eating at the hotel often. Consistently great meals, the beer selection is impressive to say the least and the service is impeccable. I will be very happy when I can finally try the ostrich steak sandwich. Definitely try the peaches and cream dessert, it's made by one of our neighbors!

I discovered the Spinnerstown Hotel before I discovered Yelp, so I was not affected by, but recently surprised to see the harsh ratings of the previous reviewers. I first visited Spinnerstown Hotel six months ago because I was referred by the local Comfort Inn. I was so delighted, I have dined here each time (3) I have returned to this Comfort Inn. The restaurant is set in a lovely garden surrounded by ample and convenient parking. It is immaculate inside and out. The tables are set formally with tablecloths. The music is tasteful and played softly, barely noticeable, as I like it, so it is a good place to dine and talk with friends or family (or to read a book in my case, as an out of town visitor). The cuisine is unique and the presentation is very tasteful. The first visit, I had a delicious beef pot pie, which was on special. Last night, I had oriental scallops with rice and a sweet sauce. Krista, who waited my table, was a delightful young lady. My every visit has been pleasant and I plan to return. I can find no basis for downgrading Spinnerstown Hotel from a full five stars.

Their food is so-so & they cannot mix a drink to save their life. Go someplace else & spend your $ wisely.

The perfect location for anyone choosing to dine in downtown Spinnerstown, The ONLY place to dine in downtown Spinnerstown. Easy access from Route 663. Traditional institutional food, served by friendly local staff. Highly predictable menu, with some local dishes that will excite the out-of-towner (Homemade Coleslaw, Dutch-style cucumbers and sour cream, fritters on a good night, etc.). In the spring one can sometimes find shad roe on the menu, which makes it worth the trip from anywhere.

Went here for our anniversary on a quiet Monday evening, after finding an ad for the place in Ale Street News, a newspaper for people who love beer. Not that we're alkies, but we do appreciate good ales and lagers. We've had microbrews all over the country, but this place has a beer list that was way over our heads - not only brands we never heard of, but actual categories of beer that we didn't know existed! Hal, the bartender was pretty knowledgeable, and helped us out with the choices (we stuck with the 14 beers on tap, and ignored the 250-bottle list). Ordering food was a tough chore because the menu looked pretty good. Nothing outrageous (unless ostrich counts), but a solid menu. We shared some blackened scallops, which were good, very tender and flavorful, but likely frozen because they were almost mushy (do I really expect fresh seafood in the hills of PA?)... and a small caesar salad (decent value, and nice that they make small & large)... followed by a pork barbeque sandwich with cheddar cheese and fried onions (good combination of flavors, nice amount of pork, and not over-sauced). So, even though we were both a little tipsy from the many kinds of beer we tried (some of which were great, some of which were... let's say.... innnnnteresting...), the food was pretty good and a decent value for what you got. As far as ambiance, only saw the bar, and had a nice time meeting some folks, but it seemed like a nice place to go. The men's room has an automatic light - very cool! Now if they could get an automatic door so you have to touch nothing...
