Here are some facts about Tim Lan, executive chef at Melodia Grill: 1. His meats are not cooked by a stove or a grill, but by a demon that he tamed as a whelp at 12 years old. 2. The Melodia chips are not baked on premises. Instead, Tim wills them into existence every morning before opening. 3. Cows that know they will become a Melodia Grill burger must be kept away from sharp objects, lest they end their lives early to hurry their fate. 4. The Sweet Thai Chili Chicken Wrap is a popular export to Thailand. 5. When asked "Why did you settle in Souderton and not a larger city that might appreciate your innovation?," he will respond in Latin. All those who have understood his answer are struck deaf. This is the best restaurant in Souderton. The rating reflects my feelings regarding this location in relation to other Souderton eateries.

Date night with wife last night and we ended up at Melodia. Here we are almost a day later and I am still confused. The good thing is we wanted a few laughs and this place sure provided ample material. No doubt they are trying, but I have no idea exactly what they are trying. Let's start with the display of jewelry you can buy at the front of the house, the line of Melodia sauces you can take home with you, or the self help books you can buy. Our server was very sweet and enthusiastic, but she sure oversold things. My salad dress, GONE. Appetizer, 86ed. All at 7 PM on a Saturday. My salmon was overcooked and swimming in the sauce, which our server told me could be bought right at the front. Not to be nitpicky, but white wine should not be poured into giant goblets, and it should be chilled, not just dropped on an adjoining table. To wrap up the night, I tried to pay with Visa gift cards which they do not accept "because of the liability." If you are thinking of going for an upscale meal, please use Yelp and expand your range by just a few miles.

The food is good, but not great. The wait staff is awkward and unfriendly. I ate there on a Wednesday night, only two other people were there, and it took over 40 minutes for our appetizers to come out. I ordered the General Tsao's chicken with extra spice, it was way too sweet and had no heat. The "complimentary" roll was delicious, as were the vegetable spring rolls. At the end of the meal, the wait staff gave us our "complimentary" desserts (dinner mints). I paid using my American express card, which they asked if I had different card. (i did not, so they accepted it anyways) Overall it is overpriced for good food, the wait staff is horrible.

We arrived tonight (a friday) at 5:50pm without reservations. Empty lot, empty restaurant, and the staff sitting in a room when we walked in. I had a groupon and when the hostess saw it and found no reservation she informed us we could not be seated using the groupon because we had no reservation (spur of the moment dinner out). But you're empty I said - yes but we have many reservations tonight. But you're empty now (2 of us) - I can seat you but not with the groupon. SSSSSOOOOOO we are EMPTY but you can't use the groupon without a reservation - but we can seat you without it. huh?? Stated nevermind we won't be back - the staff was laughing at us as we left the EMPTY restaurant. What a rude ignorant place. And I plan to let everyone I know about how lousy their service is.... after reading reviews it sounds like others feel the same way. The killer is after looking at YELP it may have been the owner's relative who was so rude to us.

Oh Melodia...it pains me to give you only 4 stars. The food is SPECTACULAR...but why can't you hire servers who know HOW to serve? Attended a dinner party recently, many of the other dinners in this 14+ person party had never eaten here before...and likely won't return...which is a shame. The service was SLOW. .. and to make matters worse, 2 of the diners desserts were still partially frozen.... Another diner there, the same night and not part of the above party, said their server didn't even serve their meal correctly... Please hire some better servers!

The food is great, but the customer service is terrible. We had purchased a voucher for two meals at a special price. The promotional value had expired, but the amount we paid for the voucher ($45) was supposed to be valid through 2016. We mentioned the voucher when we ordered our meals, and gave it to our server who said he'd check to make sure they could accept it. Not until after we were done eating were we told they wouldn't accept the voucher. Seriously? The server said we could talk to the owner, who came to our table 15 minutes later and gave a bunch of excuses, including "We don't work with that company any more." We weren't asking for a special deal; we just wanted to put the $45 we *already paid* toward the cost of our meal. Thankfully, LivingSocial refunded our money right away, so good customer service isn't entirely dead! (Also, the price range in the Yelp listing is a bit off. This should be rated $$$ because I can't see anyone getting out of there for less than $30 per person with meal, drink, tax, and tip. Unless perhaps you order just a garden salad.)

The food at this place is not bad, but its way over priced. The atmosphere is not very welcoming...staff was difficult and slow. Been there a few times, once was good, other two were so so...They are very unaccomodating.

We have eaten at Molodia several times in past year and being a 'foodie' that lives in Souderton there is no doubt this is the best restraunt in town. Although the ambience is nice and the service is attentive we have found the food does not have the wow factor that would justify the price nor the accolates showered on it. The presentation is 4 star but we have yet to be impressed with the flavors/seasonings or sauces. There is better cuisine 10 miles either east or west of Souderton but for a small town restraunt it is very good. The expectations of the local residents is very low so when they visit there they are impressed. Personally we will not bother going back but will drive the 45 minutes and spend the same amount of money and be rewarded with exciting food. And what's with the jewelry store at the reception desk? Tacky, tacky tacky

Worst dining experience ever!!!! Never go to this restaurant....EVER. They were out of half the menu items we ordered, we waited 2 hours for mediocre food, and the owner sent both the bus boy and a waitress claiming to be a manager to speak with us instead of personally talking to us. When trying to discuss the issues...the fake manager was extremely rude, argumentative, and unprofessional. We requested some type of compensation, we were told to pay the full amount or they would press charges. Horrible management, terrible customer service, and over priced, bland, and poorly cooked food.

Horrible experience at this restaurant! I ordered the Filet medium. IT came out on three asparagus spears and a spoonful of mashed potatoes and rare. It was so tough that I couldn't even cut It with the steak knife provided . I could not chew the meat and for 27 dollars I decided to complain. I was told by our waitress that we could have the meat cooked more or get a 20% off the meal . I told her that I didn't think that was fair because the meat was the most expensive part. I then asked to speak the owner who came out screaming at us about how the meat was organic and then rescinded the 20 % offer. The owner knows nothing about running a business and was extremely unprofessional. We were there on a Saturday night and were the only ones there. Do not go here!

Pros: it's a BYOB. No corkage fee. The food prices may be on the higher end, but it's better food than you'd get at a chain restaurant, so it's understandable. I will say it's a little odd that it costs $9 to add chicken to a salad & $11 for shrimp, but whatever. The BYOB helps keep your total bill in a reasonable range. The General Tsao's chicken was my favorite but it appears to be off the menu. Sad face. The soups are house made - the hubby had a seafood bisque last night and loved it. His steak was yummy (I had a few bites, which is odd for me - I have a thing about big hunks of meat - insert joke here -. I have a thing about "weird" textures so I can't eat cheaper cuts of meat - the chewy, gritty texture grosses me out). Desserts are good - I love a place with creme brûlée. I think they're all house made. Oh, they also have a pretty extensive wheat and gluten free menu. Cons: Um, hmm - I guess it would be nice if they had a bar for beer, but that would eliminate the BYOB thing, so meh, I'll survive without beer. Menu could use a few more choices, especially vegetarian stuff or items that aren't seafood or red meat. There aren't many cons, really. Overall, a nice restaurant with good food and a cozy atmosphere.

Was hungry the other day and considered stopping to try this place out, but I saw someone who appeared to be a server kneeling in the driveway pulling weeds out of the side of the building. I don't care if they washed their hands if I sat down to eat all I would be able to think was "this person was kneeling on the ground a bit ago with their hands in the dirt." Additionally I seriously question the intelligence of a restaurant owner who thinks this is the right way to do things, hire a landscaper, do it yourself, or have someone who won't be handling food and drinks do it. If that isn't a possibility, don't have the employee do this during business hours. I will never come here after seeing that, although after reading some of the other reviews I may have dodged a bullet.

I heard from friends that Melodia Grill had good food. It was my birthday and my husband and I defaulted there becuase the place we intended to go in Souderton was closed on Monday's. I order the Salmon with fruit salsa, it was very good. My husband had herb chicken that seemed like it was swimming in a bowl of pesto hat was dumped out of a jar. The rolls were burnt on the bottom. We shared a $12 salad that was good. While we were waiting for our food one of the other 3 parties in the dining room got up to leave, they were waiting for entree for over 1 1/2hr. They wanted to leave and just wanted to pay for what they ate. The manager said their food was all most done and ask if they wanted to take it home. The customer paid for the food and left with a bag to eat at home. A little while later the person returned with the bag and said the food was raw and they couldn't eat it and wanted their money back. There seem to be a disagreement and the mangement called the police. The police came and interviewed both parties. At that time we were finsihed our meal and paid our bill and left. We will not be eating at Melodia Grill again. What happened to pleasing the customer? I felt bad for the waitress...she kept apoligizing from the start and now I understand why she had an apologetic spirit. I hope she quits and goes and works somewhere else.

Bottom line: go here and try it for yourself on a nice night. It's one of my favorites in the area! This place is special. In a city where you have endless choices of average to below average fare, a place like Melodia is bound to stick out. You're talking about a restaurant that offers organic, healthy and gourmet food with vegetarian, gluten free, and dairy free items available. You're talking about a business whose owners and staff understand the intersection between art and quality. This doesn't mean it fits for everyone in the area, although it really should. I can imagine how much healthier and happier the people would be if they ate more of this and less junky pizzerias and sub shops. Yes, this place is more expensive than most of the restaurants around it. But it's not nearly excessive, and certainly the cost of eating this fresh and this well. This isn't where you go for $.10 buffalo wings. This is where you go for a nice meal, a beautiful date, a special occasion, or where you eat when you go out and care about the quality of the food. The decor, music, flavors and choices sing of sophistication and care. The only reason I give this a 4 star review is because the service was a little bit less attentive than it could have been. But I'm ok with that, because I know the waitress we had was a local girl back in town from college who was surprised by her shift that night. It made me happy to know that such a fine dining establishment still supports the families where it does business. I'll handle an unfilled iced tea as long as I know this is the case.

Excellent food- right up the street from where I work so it is nice to have a unique place to eat so close. There is always open tables which is a plus and it is nice and quiet. The wait staff is knowledgeable and the food always comes out perfect!

Excellent food, Friendly service, A bit pricey but the fact that it is a BYOB helps keep the bill reasonable. They offer a nice variety of organic gourmet entrees/appetizers on their menu. Seasonal veggies and delicious soups. Parking here is a pain ,very limited and poorly marked. Quiet little place for an intimate dinner.

Tonight was the first time I tried out this restaurant. I'd definitely come back. I really enjoyed the honey ginger salmon. The prices are a little high but that's what comes with all natural & organic meals. I appreciate that they are willing to accommodate different dietary needs as well.

I can't get over the irrationality of some 1-2 star reviews. Wow. Talk about first world problems. I have been here twice over the past year. It would be more, but I don't live in the area, only visit friends here occasionally. This is not just one of the only OPEN restaurants in Souderton, it is the absolute BEST one. I guess, for some, it's hard to enjoy a natural, organic, beautifully crafted meal from a place such as Melodia when you're used to O'Grady's. To the owners- you have to understand that the people who leave nasty reviews about petty crap have no appreciation for what you are doing, they may not realize how truly amazing it is to find a vegan sweet potato and kale soup in Souderton PA. Those features alone are enough to trump any instance of mediocre service or food not sitting in correct amount of sauce- "issues" I have never experienced. My experiences have both been five-star. I came once with a large group; we BYOB'd, had excellent food, and a great time. The 2nd time was last week. Early dinner just my 5 year old and I. I have nothing to criticize. The jewlery at the front, oddly enough, didn't bother me at all. Maybe I'm weird. If my 3rd experience is somewhow lacking, I will update with constructive criticism, and you can bet your ass that unless someone lights me on fire, there will be no 1 star reviews.

Excited from the reviews so made a reservation. Love BYOBs so that was a plus. Advertised as Asian fusion but that was not really seen in the menu overall. Appetizers were really good, and in accordance with the theme. Main courses were mostly American in style, average preparation. The crabcake was lacking lump crabmeat, the seafood special was promising in description, but lacking in execution. The lamb chops were under seasoned and undercooked.at the conclusion of the meal I attempted to trade in OpenTable gift certificates, which were refused. I will not return.

I have only been to this place for lunch and the food is very good. The meals are fresh so they do take a while to come out. The steak wrap is my favorite. The service is ok but this is not a high end place so I wasn't expecting anything fancy. They have seasonal drinks which are very good. One good thing is that it is BYOB

Anytime I want a really good steak I get take out from here. It's always delicious and cooked perfectly. The vegetables and mashed potatoes are delicious as well. It's a little pricey but willing to pay when I want a good meal. I have only had their steak and a few appetizers so I can't speak on the rest of the menu or their dine in service. Overall very good!
