We like this place. My husband hits it up about once every two weeks on the weekends for brunch. He and my girls get muffins and I usually get a veggie bagel sandwich. Everything is always delicious and fresh and the staff has always been super nice and agreeable.

Bagels and breakfast sandwiches are really good but the cleanliness of the tables and chairs is awful. I have to clean them every time before sitting. I'm here at 7am and the place is dirty so this is yesterday's crumbs. They really need to take care of the dining area.

This place has really gone downhill. The staff is untrained and lost, the tables are dirty, and my order was lost and then incorrectly made. I waited while five customers behind me all came and went - for nothing more than a sausage and cheese bagel. Not planning a return trip soon.

This place has gotten disgusting. I have been a customer for years. Today I stopped being one. The place was filthy. The service slow as hell. The girl behind the counter obviously didn't want to be there. Tables hadn't been wiped down all morning.

Food is just what I expect from a bagel breakfast place. Muffins are moist and tasty. But the first thing I noticed when I walked in was how dirty the whole place was. It's obvious that hygiene is NOT of importance here. Looked like no one bothered sweeping for days. Counters were dirty and covered with crumbs. Dirty rags laying about. The self-serve coffee station was really gross. The carafes looked really dirty and the signage on them was cut from a cardboard box and has been in use for a very long time. Edges curling in on themselves and barely legible and you guessed it; filthy. A boom box on the counter playing loud music that had sauce or something wet that had spilled on it and never cleaned off. It was really grossing me out. The music was so loud that I had a hard time listening to my kid trying to talk with me.

This is a place that REALLY needs to rethink its customer service. I've been going there for 10+(?) years now and its consistently poor service has never improved in the slightest. I only keep going since it's the only bagel place in town and the bagels are really good. Every single time you walk in, it goes something like this - there are three or four people in line- expect to wait at least five minutes for every order ahead of you. When there are more than three people in line, I turn around without even walking in the door. There are five or six employees crowded in the kitchen, half of which stand their staring at you like deer caught in the headlights, the others looking like they don't know what they're doing. (It's become an on going fascination for me now - why so many employees for every shift? They could easily accomplish the same level of efficiency with three employees -there are always five or so getting done the work of two.) One finally yells at another to go tend the register while four of five customers are sighing and getting irritated that their orders are taking so long. No one ever smiles and all act as if it's their first day. This is the only place I've ever been to in which people taking your order will occasionally just wander off in the middle of it and do some unrelated task. What's up with that? One time I made the mistake of ordering an espresso and only one of the five employees knew what it was despite the fact it's on the menu. One girl said, and I kid you not- "you mean that 'goop' we make the lattes out of?" I usually just go to the self-serve coffee which is empty at least half the time. I can honestly say I've never once had a good service experience. I often leave infuriated and wishing there was another good bagel nearby. I'm sure the feeling is exacerbated by expectations- how hard is it to heat a bagel, smear cream cheese on it and hand over an empty paper coffee cup? We're not talking a three course meal here. You know how the pros make what they do look "easy?" These guys make it look really HARD. A bagel for god-sake! Is there even a manager? No one ever seems to be in charge. Get help folks- maybe an outside consultant. Hire a manager with some organization and leadership skills. Free tip for managment- visit THB Bagels & Deli (in Timonium) and Bagel Works (in Hunt Valley). Both work like well oiled machines. Fast, efficient, clean, the customer's word gets the wheels in motion almost instantaneously. Even when someone is ahead of me in line, I sometimes don't even have time to decide what I want before I'm asked. At your place I'm already thinking about leaving. Everyone there looks like they know their parts. You've got a hot bagel in the bag by the time you pump your cup of joe (from an ever full carafe I might add). They have comparable space and fewer employees than you even when their busy. It can be done. You already have a quality product- now fix everything else.

Stumbled upon Big Apple Bagels when turning off the exit to grab a quick breakfast from subway. Pleasantly surprised to find a bagel place, even more surprised with how great it tasted. I ordered a Swiss melt bagel with scallion cream cheese and not only was the bagel fresh, but larger than what they serve at DD or Manhattan bagel. It was nice to see them pile on the cream cheese, i cant stand when you dont get enough to cover your bagel, yeah i had to scrape some off but too much is better than not enough! Also got the cinnamon hazlenut praline coffee and it was to die for. Seems like a family run business and based on their close relationship with some of the customers, knowing they have regulars means they can't be too bad. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick breakfast stop.
