Isabella's was chosen as the local restaurant to celebrate our son's and his girlfriend's Susquehanna University's Graduation dinner. Annie's mother called a couple of months in advance to make a reservation for 12 at 5:30. A week before graduation she called to change the reservation to 15 at 5:30. She was assured it was not going to be a problem. She also ordered a cake for dessert at that time. We arrived to find the table was set for 12 not 15. Obviously, since it was graduation day at Susquehanna and Selinsgrove has so very few restaurants, Isabella's was completely booked. They had their tables pre-set with very little room for movement. Given that the tables were in fact pre-set for several large groupings, one would assume that the manager was on top of their game and also had the foresight to have additional staff on hand to handle to influx. Unfortunately, this absolutely was not the case. As Annie's mother was discussing adding 3 more to our table, which was not only extremely cozy it also added to the difficulty of the staff's ability to maneuver around our table and our neighboring tables, she was told that other the reservation's seatings were already falling 30 minutes behind. Our waiter, Joseph, made the bad start to our situation worse. He already appeared overwhelmed by the confusion as he took our drink orders in spurts as the others arrived. Truth be told, most of our guests agreed that he was rattled and in need of a fix. The drinks were finally delivered and mostly consumed before he came back to take our orders. The biggest mistake he made, and shame on us in all of the confusion for going along with it, was taking ONLY our appetizer orders instead of our entire meal's order. He did not take our entree order until AFTER we had finished eating our appetizers. We waited about 25 minutes before our salads were delivered. They were a mixture of either having little to no dressing or having been drowned in dressing. My husband asked to speak to the manager as we neared 45 minutes waiting for our entrees. Our entrees finally arrived after having been seated for well over TWO hours! Our sons ordered their meals Fra Diablo and were told they'd received Fra Diablo but found the sauce was not spicy at all. Two of our guests were vegetarians and asked to have the stir fried vegetables from one of the menu specials added to their pasta. Their vegetables weren't added in the pasta. Instead, they were delivered as a side dish well after all of our entrees were delivered. When the manager came over to speak to my husband she apologized; however, she did so in such a way that it came across insincere and more like "well what do you expect we are slammed." This only proved to frustrate my husband more as he tried to make her understand that the situation was inexcusable and that it was her responsibility to have anticipated the onslaught given that it was graduation day and that their reservation book was full. It's not as if this is a new restaurant to the area that has never had to deal with graduation day before. This entire ordeal has now lasted for THREE HOURS and dessert has not even come in to play yet. Since we all had a three hour drive ahead of us to get home, we unanimously agreed to not have the specially ordered cake and left completed frustrated and feeling truly disappointed that our children's graduation celebration was beyond spoiled.

Had dinner here tonight on a whim...had actually planned to go somewhere else but they were filled up. My wife and I were both very happy with everything we ordered as well as the professional staff and upscale yet inviting ambiance. After eating I double checked Yelp because I was surprised this place wasn't on my radar and was surprised to see such a low rating. Then I realized that Denise T., Nicholas T., and Annie B. all posted 1 star reviews because they didn't have the fairytale graduation dinner they so clearly felt they deserved. It's a shame that three 1 star reviews - all from the same party - can have such a negative effect on Yelp. Hopefully more people will eat here and review it honestly and anyone reading the reviews of the 3 whiners mentioned above will take those reviews for what they are...sour grapes.

Here for my graduation dinner with my girlfriend and our families. The place was fully packed so I understand that it could be a little longer than normal but our dinner didn't arrive until we were there for 3 hours. During the three hours the waiter never stopped by and asked if we wanted another drink. I went up to the bar and bought one. As we were waiting tables all around us were getting there food. It got to the point were a new family sat down at the table next to us after the previous one received their bill. They sat down and got there food and left before we got ours. I've never had such bad servious at a restaurant. Not a great way to finish my graduation day.

Service is super slow. We waited for 2 hours and still didn't get any more than bread, appetizers and salads

2nd try here and it will be my last. I got the chicken & my wife got the salmon and at least their consistent at one thing, overcooking everything to well done. I still cant justify their prices. The salmon was actually tender, but it seemed dried out, maybe they use frozen seafood? The chicken was dry, but ok I guess, nothing special here. The staff was inattentive and slow. Lots of eye rolling when I asked for a water.

I don't know what all you negative reviewers are talking about--my family and I had a wonderful meal there last weekend. The staff is very attentive. This is easily the best restaurant in the area.

Enroute to Canada from Washington, DC, we stumbled onto this village/town, and found this delightful, professionally run Italian restaurant that felt like a small elegant European restaurant...soft lighting, soft surfaces, tall ceilings (building was a bank); all the food is homemade, including the delicious rolls and compound garlic/parmesan cheese butter...large-ish portions, locally sourced ingredients, etc., and reasonably priced. Good wine selections, even the cheepies. We'd come back often if we didn't live 300 miles away--but we'll remember it for another trip that takes us through this part of PA.

Ambiance was cool and different. Food quite tasty and the staff was about as good as you can get. Definitely would go back

The atmosphere is a lil funny since its in an old bank but one of the few romantic places in town.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
