I've Never been to Mexico But a lot of people always say They want "real Mexican" And then hate on this food in a ridiculous way We really like it here So I guess my standards are kind of low Because when we want delicious food This is where we go Fast at seating Free chips and salsa When my glass is empty Nothing gets past her (or him) Huge portions of food In just a few minutes The pollo champinon is recommended If you're in it to win it Nice atmosphere Clean and quick And delicious food Lickity split Ole'!

You can just never tell about restaurants attached to hotels. Sometimes, they're surprisingly good while others, you wish you'd kept shooting down the highway. Casa Sanchez, which bills itself as an "authentic Mexican restaurant", features American fare like hamburgers, French fries, chicken wings and grilled chicken sandwiches so, needless to say, my expectations were lower than a snake's belly. At least they offer margaritas and an impressive selection of beers along with a full bar. If I'm not sure about a place, I'll order a fail-safe dish like a burrito or, in this case, carnitas. If you can't get that right, them chances are the rest of the menu is sucky-sucky. The carnitas were fattier than I've ever had, but they were tender and not dry. Rice and beans were decent; condiments included pico de gallo, cheese, shredded lettuce, guacamole and jalapeños. Overall, not bad. The house margarita came with gold tequila and was made with lime juice. Frankly, it added one star to this review. Prices were a mite high, atmosphere was strip mall chic, staff was friendly, though missed a few things. There ain't much else in the area for options, so there you go.

The service was great. Chips and salsa were free and great. The food was great if you enjoy having diherria after a meal. I had the pollo de champion. It was a little freaky and not in exotic way. My wife had the burrito macho. It is the largest burrito I have ever seen. Unfortunately, the steak was subpar. I have eaten at many Mexican food places throughout the country, Chicago , philadelphia, dc, San Francisco, San Diego, Dallas, Austin and in Mexico and I have had a few that had worse food. However, I wouldn't recommend or go back. This is a shame since the service so good. My advice to casa Sanchez is to improve the cuts of meat used in your entrees and your ratings will improve. Also, maybe get better margarita mix. Way too syrupy and alcohol content was so low it was a virgin drink.

The food is good but make sure you go there to eat and not get takeout. I don't think anyone there knows how to use a phone. Two weeks in a row I have tried to order takeout and get the runaround. Tried to call from my house and they put me on hold and I waited for 10 minutes so I hung up and tried to call back only to get a busy signal. I got in my car and drove to the restaurant (about 15 minutes away) trying to call them the entire time and still getting busy signals. Got to the restaurant and there were only about a dozen people there so they weren't busy so why couldn't I get through?

In an area surrounded by chain restaurants, this place is a great find for some good mexican food. Have gone here twice for dinner, and I have to say everything I have tasted is quite good. Get plenty of chips and homemade salsa to much on while waiting for your meals. Service is great, the people working there are pretty friendly. My recommendation: chicken fajitas. Usually when I go to a restaurant more than once I order something different to try as much as the menu as I can, but I couldn't pass up another opportunity to get those fajitas. You get a lot of food (and good food for that matter) for your money. Give it a try! You'll leave full and happy :-)

Super friendly service, incredibly clean, amazingly cheap (two of us got WAY more food than we could eat, and the bill came to about $12). Overall, the food wasn't great, but it wasn't bad, either. Chips and salsa were nice, chicken quesadilla was a little weird (something unusual about the cheese, but I picked out the chicken, which was quite tasty). I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again, but I also wouldn't avoid it.

Don't waste your money or time! This is NOT authentic Mexican cuisine, for starters. Tonight, I placed an order, to go, and when I got home, it was NOT what I ordered, not only that, but the cheese was burnt on the bottom, and the food was not even lukewarm, it was cold, as if it were sitting out for a while... and I have a 5 minute drive. I called to complain and some kid by the name Erick answered. I asked for a manager, and he said that there was no manager. I asked for someone in charge, and he said there was no one. He did offer new food/or a refund, or both, I told him that it was late, and I was not able to go out because I had to wake up early for work. He said "there is nothing he can do, oh well". Then, he said that Jesus, the owner had "just walked in". How convenient. He knows that my husband has the first and ONLY latino radio show in this area, and Jesus has also served Susquehanna University, so in order for me to know I was talking to the real Jesus, I asked him about the radio, as well as SU. He was not aware, so I went over to the restaurant, only to be told "here's your money back". Jesus, the owner, asked me what I thought he should do. I told him that he is lucky that his customers are mostly white people who have no real taste buds, because if he had Spanish clients, he'd have no business. He has NO sense of customer service, and they closed down one of his restaurants already. The one in Shamokin Dam is next. You want real latino cuisine? Take a drive, or get a cook book, hell, get in contact with me, and I'll hook you up. I have eaten there MANY times, and he was not able to "accommodate" me. He did not care about me as a customer, and even said "go ahead and talk bad about me on the radio, I don't care". I told him I would not do that. One thing that I always did was support him and tell everyone that they should eat there, because I was trying to be supportive of my fellow Hispanic business owner. Now, I am gonna tell everyone not to go there. His crew sucks, his business sucks, and he sucks. Not to mention that he pays his waitresses LESS than what they are SUPPOSED to get. No wonder he can't keep employees! He also hires ILLEGALS to work there!!!! Don't waste your time OR money!!

This is a nice place for a quick meal. They are friendly and good with large groups. You can have good Mexican food that's as mild as you need it or as hot as you'd like to go. I recommend the burrito grande if your starving and have a big appetite, and the chicken salad is a good alternative to eating a lot of starchy choices; it is nicely seasoned chicken over a bed of lettuce with tomatoes, onions and cheese.

One thing I'll say about this place is that the service is FAST. The chips and salsa came out lickety split (with a hot and mild salsa), the drinks came out regular split, and the food must have travelled through a time machine from the future to just after we ordered it because that stuff was ready to eat within five minutes. Granted, refried beans could have been simmering in a pot and slopped onto a tortilla quite easily, and how long does it take to melt cheese. But you'd be surprised how long it takes some folks to get that done. Well done, Casa Sanchez! May my bowels, too, thank you tomorrow.

The food is alway runny and watery. I don't think it's very favorable either. If you've eaten Mexican food out west you'll understand why I give this a poor rating.

The food comes out way too fast. If I wanted Mexican fast food I would go to Taco Bell. I think everything tastes like it comes from a can. I enjoyed the house margaritas.

Oh...we should have gone to Bob Evans and asked them for Mexican food. I had the enchilada platter...it wasn't horrible...it wasn't good...I was very hungry so I ate most of it. My husband had the chimichangas. He tried, he really did...and then, for the first time in 9 1/2 years, he just pushed it aside and said he couldn't. Not even the beans. Told the waitress he ordered it, he'd pay for it... She did take it off our bill. The non-spicy subpar salsa was the 2nd best thing we had. The ice water was my favorite. Pay attention to the negative reviews and skip this one.

Selinsgrove is a cute town, but there are not a ton of restaurant options outside of the usual chain restaurants you can find anywhere. It was not the most amazing Mexican food I've had, but it was pretty good and well-priced. Big portions with combination platters were nice to taste a few different things at once. My platter had a small burrito, crunchy taco, rice and beans. Was not impressed by the margaritas, it tasted a bit like too-sweet cheap bottle mix.

Reasonably authentic Mexican food. Sufficiently spicy. Good staff. Comfortable atmosphere.

Ok food. The food is sorta Mexican, but not the kind of Mexican food that I get in Mexico. Ambiance is great. Food is hot. Flavor and freshness mediocre. Service is good.

This used to be our favorite restaurant in the Selingsgrove/Shamokin Dam area. We stopped there a few months ago and it was bad. We hoped that it was just an off day. However, we went back today, and sadly, it was our last trip. The prices went up, and the food quality went down. The food today was tasteless. It was as if they kitchen ran out of spices. The two entrees we had were devoid of taste. Better to go almost anywhere else.

I always enjoyed this place. It was the only option in town for Mexican food when I lived here, so not much to say. The servers are polite and accommodating to any requests. The sopapillas is delicious and crispy. You get your food FAST, and the will bring you more tortilla chips and salsa if you run out. They serve alcoholic beverages, which was a plus in a college town with only one actual bar.

From the fast friendly service to the great tasting food, it has everything I want when I'm in the mood for Mexican. And the prices are reasonable also.

Cool ambiance and tasty food. I recommend the asados- I think their hot dishes with cheese and vegetables are yummy. Food always comes out sizzling. The service is attentive. While the margaritas aren't strong enough, this is my first (and maybe only available?) choice for mexican in the area.

Their lunch specials are fantastic. I haven't tried anything here I didn't like. Very friendly service, too!

Being from Colorado, the fact that they call this authentic Mexican food almost makes me laugh. Putting cream cheese in the enchiladas, and guacamole that obviously came pre-made from a food supply place does not authentic Mexican food make. I liked the hot salsa and the green sauce on my enchiladas.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
